    If you have a highly story-driven game, it does'nt matter how good your graphics are or how the gameplay stands on its own, you HAVE to deliver a good story. Let's talk about THE WITCHER III for example: Kind of clumky gameplay, but overwellmingly good story, so people don't actually mind the gameplay all that much. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about THE LAST OF US 2. So let me get this straight Joel saves Abby and the second she finds this out without hesitation kills him with Ellie watching???? Then Ellie vows to kill Abby and at the end leaves her family to kill Abby then when the time comes let’s it live??? The game ends with Ellie’s family gone, her not being able to play the guitar because Abby bit 2 fingers off her???? And that’s it that’s it???? This is the game that gets a 95 metacritic???… Expand

    I'll be honest... I didn't much enjoy the first game, but with a more inclusive cast being revealed I was excited. I decided to try the game and show my support. This game is so hurtful that it has inspired me to make an account just so I can let ND know how badly they have messed up. First the pros: Beautiful music, gorgeous graphics, A+ acting

    Cons: Clunky game play as bad as the first, boring scripted sneak sections, spammy attacking mechanics, characterizations, poorly thought out queer representation I don't know who at ND thought it was a good idea to reinforce the idea that trans people are aggressive and unstable?? By making said trans character playable and actively murder a beloved character??? For what, some cheap, half baked message about revenge? ND, you created a trans character in a massive AAA title... but you have done nothing but make people hate and resent her, doing great disservice to the trans community. You could have redeemed this character... but you've only stereotyped a large swath of the LBGTQ+ community. This character could have been a great ambassador to gamers all around... but you've fostered nothing but anger towards queer people by being pointlessly provocative.

Not everyone will like this game and I can see and understand why, it’s way different from the first one but I also feel like people don’t give it a chance and they don’t even play it, they just hear the leaks. There is so much more to this game and the reason people hate on it is because of Joel’s death which yes was extremely sad but it doesn’t make the game bad. The game isn’t supposed to be a happy game it’s supposed to be a sad and unsettling game and it’s really good at making you feel that. You can feel and see the pain in Ellie as you go through Seattle looking for Abby and the rest of the WLF. Yes Abby is a **** but besides that I have no complaints about this game, and even though it was wrong you can’t blame Abby to much because as much as I love Joel and was sad to see him go the way he did he did kill her father and hurt the rest of the world to save Ellie so Abby feels that pain too. Anyways the improvement on everything in this game from the first one is amazing. Just because Joel died the way he died doesn’t mean the game is bad! 10/10! An emotional Masterpiece!… Expand

    It has good grafics with a impressive attention to the detail and a very good gameplay, but the story is bad, very bad. It feels like all the characters need to be part of the LGBT+ community, and the only thing that they apport to the game story is that.

    Gameplay is alright, though it does get tedious as the game progresses. Of course, the thing everyone cares about in a Last of Us sequel is the story. It's the only reason everyone fondly remembers the original.
    Where to start? Perhaps the crux of the problem is the character development, or lack thereof. Joel in particular is embarrassingly bad. Gone is the rugged and experienced survivor of Part 1, replaced by a trusting idiot. A man who survived in the apocalypse for decades decides to tell an entire group of armed strangers his name right after he learns he is being hunted. I would say more, but there isn't much else, as Joel dies a mere two hours into the game.
    His death is meaningless, rushed, and disrespectful to the character and the fans. To make such a beloved character die like a dog by a character introduced just moments ago is absurd. To make his death have no impact other than a lazy writing plot device to make Ellie hunt down Abby is insulting. To make him die this way so early in the game doesn't even give the player time to grieve for this icon of gaming.
    What makes the whole thing worse are the flashbacks with Joel sprinkled throughout the game, some of the only well-written segments of the whole thing. However, a dampener on the experience is the slight inconvenience that Joel is dead, and none of these things matter.
    Why couldn't these experiences have been the main game? Why did they go for such an overused revenge story?
    And at the end, to cap off the horrible writing, Ellie decides to basically abandon her loved ones to pursue Abby. After fighting and slaughtering hundreds, after everything Ellie has done, and as Ellie has the opportunity to kill Abby at last...she has a flashback of Joel playing the guitar, which prompts Ellie to let Abby go.
    This makes no sense. Joel was not a pacifistic person, far from it. Were the writers going for the "He wouldn't be happy with this" approach? What Joel wouldn't be happy with already happened. He wouldn't have wanted Ellie to abandon Dina, which she did, and he probably wouldn't have wanted Ellie to kill hundreds in the pursuit of revenge, which she also already did, but he would have no such qualms about killing Abby herself. Why would you abandon your goal after going so far?
    Wouldn't a flashback of Joel make Ellie more angry and make her want to kill Joel's murderer more? In what world does it sedate her anger?
    As Abby rides away, Ellie makes it back to the hideout that she and her loved ones had made their base to find it abandoned with no indication of where they went. Ellie tries to play the guitar left behind but finds herself unable to do so due to two of her fingers bitten off by Abby. The game ends, with Ellie left without her lover, without her friends, without her father figure, Joel, unable to even play the guitar, which Joel taught her to play, without anywhere to go, and without her revenge that the whole game was leading up too, meaning a large portion of the game was simply a waste of time.

    Overall, I take issue with almost the entirety of TLOU2 apart from general graphics. TLOU1 is essentially heavy on the story and character development side whereas TLOU2, I felt no connection and as for the story I still don't know what is going on. You jump around way too much due to a ridiculous amount of plot holes.

    They, naughty dog, decided to kill off Joel within 2 hours of initial game play and replaced the iconic and legendary character with another male. Woman? I honestly have no idea what Abby is. I sincerely don't and that is a huge problem. It's gender should not be subjective. It needs to be clearly defined because gamers are following THEIR story. I will assume Abby is a dude since his muscles are double the size of mine.

    Apart from Ellie and Abby, how do you follow the characters? There are so many.

    The sex scene between Abby and Owen, which I get is for a curb ball, should not be in a game. It was incredibly and horrifically cringe beyond contestation. I don't enjoy watching two gay men go at it. I don't. There should have been a warning - in fact a trigger warning - about the inevitable gay cut scene. My god I am going to jolt awake in my nightmares because of that scene. I wish I could unsee it.

    That's as far as I have gotten and I haven't turned the game on since. A little over 2 hours in. I am done. My refund is underway. How the F did naughty dog stray so far away from greatness? I mean it sincerely. TLOU1 exceeded all of my expectation and I had high expectations. TLOU2 is a disgusting joke to say the least. I am actually furious that I wasted my time.    … Expand

The graphics are very good though, combat is still the same from the first game. But the story is god damn terrible it just makes me upset. Upset, disappointed and angry with Naughty Dog and myself for waiting 7 long years for this game to come out. The graphics are amazing. But the story and what they have done to beloved characters from the first game might be some of the worst writing and decision making I've witnessed in the industry.

    The game has beautiful scenarios, an awesome ost, and a better gameplay than the original. But the history is awful. If the game were one hour shorter, it would be a 9, because I really got happy at the final part. But the epilogue ruined it all. The last chapter, that ending they give to the game is a spit for the fans and the original game.

    The gameplay felt a little dated, there were some glitches, however, the story destroyed the characters from the first game. The intelligence of Joel dropped, he made mistakes that he would never had made.
    Poor game, will annoy a lot of dedicated fans. Plus points ... it looked good, the voice acting was good.
    Please please please do not make a sequel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's fair to say that Naughty Dog decided to showcase the harsh reality of this world instead of pandering to fairytale, happy-ever-after style tropes that for some reason people seem to be wanting from this story. My advice; block out all the out-of-context hate, experience it for yourself and pay attention, that way you will probably be able to pick up on what this game is trying to showcase narratively, instead of mouth-breathing and crying about things that aren't there. Im not quite sure why everyone is so upset, yes some key characters die but guess what they are in a savage world and people will die at any turn what sort of game would it be if you knew everyone was safe at all times. It baffles me, it continues some of what the first game did that made people fall in love with these games. The idea that they are pushing an agenda of feminism just because they made ellie a gay character. I thought it was a wonderful thing to do than keep it as the old boring stereotype for these sorts of games where its always a heterosexual realationship for the main character. I enjoyed this take on that aspect it was a welcome addition and worked well for the tone of the game.

    The pacing was brilliant allowing you to go and take your time to explore areas and let you do it at your own speed and then thrusting you into a beauitfully crafted combat area that could really test you on the harder difficulties. What can i say this game was brilliant and deserves game of the year without a doubt and to the people giving this such low scores you obviously havent played the original otherwise you would love this despite the fact we lose some loved characters but thats how games progress. Loved it and i really have nothing bad to say about this game it was a joy to experience.    … Expand

Pero en historia, en historia es CACA así les digo, aparte de que yo no lo clasificaría ni como un juego por su inexistente interacción con el jugador, es más que nada una mala película en consola y dado que en lo que más se enfoca esta cosa es la historia yo le doy un CEROOOTE para que aprendan a hacer juegos noEstá BIEN de la verga Gráficos extraordinarios, la jugabilidad es la misma.     Pro: While the Game Play is good.(unironically) I Liked that they didnt change much from the First Game . Another good part was the hordes, would have Loved to see more of those.



    Con:you cant freely choose what you want to upgrade using pills.
    Stealth is harder than in the first game bc some parts have way to many enemies. The shamblers are a Joke and come off as goofy Bloaters.    … Expand

All the best parts of the game that the fans expected from Tlou2 is scattered around in short flashbacks, all to justify this revenge plot.     Pero como pasa el tiempo se vuelve repetitivo el gameplay: matar grupo de infectados, matar grupo de humanos, matar infectados, etc.

It quickly tanked for me with the way Joel was killed, then the discusting sex scene. I didn't finish the game and I deleted it off my hard drive.     Unreasonable: In reality, yes people can sometimes die randomly for the most absurd reasons, but for storytelling, the journeys of main characters, especially the endings, should help the development of the story and characters in a progressive and meaningful way. At the very least, the way how they kill or die should align with their mindsets to make it reasonable. Characters in this game, nonetheless, contradict themselves in many ways. One example that fewer people have discussed is that one will only kill one person from an opposing group, sparing the rest of the group (whom were already captured) for later vengeance, under the Apocalyptic scenario. The lazy-written and ridiculous plot ruins both the old and new characters and makes them hardly authentic or likable.

    Inconsistent: A story should have a main theme to convey and should convey it consistently via the natural and progressive buildup by the plot. However, at the end of this game it uses 5 minutes to go abruptly against its theme throughout the previous 20-hour gameplay, making all these journeys and characters meaningless and even laughable, and the ideology the story trying to deliver hypocritical.

    Verdict: There're other issues like pacing and unnecessarily excessive violence (for nothing), but the flawed story/storytelling is the root of my dissatisfaction. It's a real shame that devs work overtime for such a beautifully crafted world just for the corrupted plot.    … Expand

I am happy if we would still get a Part 3. I was always emotionally halfway through the game, sometimes really annoying at the end but the story is just mega.Great game understand the bad rating here unfortunately 10/10 points.… Expand

    The story is a hot mess that is completely disconnected from the player and the first game. It has boring gameplay and the same core mechanics as the first, plus it is a buggy mess. The only thing this game has is graphics, and even that will be average in a week or so with the ps5 release

Don’t blind us into a game where you marketed it as Ellie & Joel then introduce a whole new city of characters, characters we didn’t even want to play. Maybe this type of storyline would work in the 3rd installment, for you don’t even get to play as Joel, and you play as Abby more than Ellie. Why would we want to play as the enemy? Why would we want to play as the enemy when fighting Ellie? Why would we go all this way to fight Abby to have her be let go? This is why The Last of Us gets a low rating: - I don’t appreciate how Joel died so early in the game as well. We could have at least played as him for halfway, or we could have known about his death and let up to it later in the game, not the 2nd scene already. - The cutscenes were barely there and all over the place. You play for so long for one cutscene. Then at the end there’s cutscene after cutscene.
    - why does Abby get a workbench every 5 seconds, gets all this good guns & crafting gear, then when you play as Ellie you get a workbench once a day. We barley tried when playing Abby and she got all these good gear & looting as the story progressed. The whole time playing the game we just thought it was pretty stupid. It was hard to play when we didn’t want to play it, but we had to see what happens next. While I do appreciate the scenery and backgrounds in this game, I just think Naughty Dog knew this was a money maker and wanted to **** it up regardless knowing they would make money anyway. Also, did anyone notice how many Asians were killed in this game or was it just me?    … Expand

    Had plenty of fun playing the game. Any review here under 5 should be ignored as they are only angry reviews. 8 out of 10. Watch the trailers and the official gameplay ... if it's appealing to you play it.

    There were several things to look at when reviewing, but just to make it short I focused on story, gameplay, and scenery.

    • Story (8/10) The story is very well done. But to compare, which A LOT of people have, to the first game would be a major mistake. Part 1 and part 2 are both vastly different games in their style of tone, development, and character. Part 1 focuses on love, care, and grief; 3 concepts that require, quite literally, a whole game to develop. Concepts that make you love the characters you are with more and more with every step they take from Boston all the way to Salt Lake City (all true fans should know what that means). That type of detail requires calming and gradual build-up, how else are we going to develop care love for those characters? You cannot; it is a story arc that is very hard to master, which is what makes Last of Us 1 one of the best UNIQUE games of all time.
    o Part 2, again in contrast to part 1, is centered mainly on anger, vengeance, and hate, 3 concepts that do NOT require development to the same level that part 1 concepts did. I am not saying that is a bad thing at all, I am simply saying that the tone that is represented throughout the whole game stems upon those particular concepts, and naughty dog does a great job showing how this flows throughout the whole story. This can be seen and understood by just relating the characters actions and motives to ourselves.
    o When a person is angry they do not think straight, they let their frustration and rage get the better of them, and before you know it you are making mistakes that you would never have thought to do if you were thinking rationally, that is EXACTLY how part 2 plays out, and it is done so freaking well because these horrible decisions made by the characters is so rapid, so sudden, and so surprising. It is done so well to the point that it can anger players just for seeing what happened, and knowing how it is going to follow up throughout the game (which happened to me a few times, but that is exactly the point.) That is what makes this story so intense, so energetic, and so much fun.
    o Now of course one argument you may give is: why would I care about such vengeful characters? Why feel attached to characters that are so hateful? Well that is sort of the dilemma and the challenge. Throughout the game you are thinking to yourself whether you want to root for the characters from beginning to end or wish them dead. The story gives you reasons to both love and hate these characters. Their actions can be argued to be justified and not justified, which makes the tone of the game so convoluted, and goes to show that anger, hate, and vengeance are never the answer. This at first will drive gamers crazy, you may even wonder if it is worth rooting for anyone at all, heck I struggled finding reasons to root for these characters, but that is what made me love it so much. The AGENDA of this game, from what I see, is that vengeance isn’t the answer, and you could end up losing everything if it consumes you.
    o Also, a big thing that I think this game does a VERY good job with is closing out on one of the biggest cliffhangers ever made in gaming, and through it develop new story arcs for other characters, which inherently creates our new story in part 2.
    o Again though, DO NOT expect the same type of feelings and tone you get throughout part 1 in part 2, you’ll be IMMENSLY frustrated and disappointed for the entire game if you do.

    • Gameplay (7/10) The gameplay can honestly be summed up with one word, and one word only: STEALTHY. Now that may seem like a weird word to use, but really there is no other way to mention the game play. You have to think on your feet with the scarce supplies that is available in order to take out the enemies that are coming at you from every possible direction. I personally really liked the game play, because I am a very big fan of stealth, but for some it can get very repetitive and tedious (which is understandable). But hey if you want to go in guns blazing at enemies, make sure you have a solid one hit kill weapon handy     … Expand

    Masterpiece. I tend to agree that there a lot of female characters and it was difficult for me to associate myself with them. No matter, I spent 26 hours with no stops and it was immersive as hell. Art design is insane. I would prefer to see those games instead of fortnite-like, but sadly, other rewievers, who give this game 0-5 score, probably want to see only fortnite in future.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
