If I was able to kill her at the end the same way you get to kill Zeus, and Ellie didn't get her fingers bit off I would give the game a least an 8/10 but they ruined it. Naughty dog used to be one of my favorite video game developers but they just lost a fan. They ruined one of my favorite games. It's a revenge story without revenge I don't care if they wanted to get their revenge is bad story across, it's just a bad dissatisfying story that literally made me depressed after. It's a damn game for crying out loud! I don't want to leave a damn game feeling empty! I'm going to pretend this trash does not exist and Joel and Ellie live in Tommy's town together without any disturbance. F*** you Naughty Dog and Neil.… Expand

I know many people will say you're an idiot, You're not a real gamer whatever, but I think that people just hate the game because of the Death of Joel and The Final Part and just because of that they said it is a waste of money. So let's recap what happens in the game:
    Abby wants to kill Joel because he killed her dad when Joel saved Ellie in the final part of the past game, so Ellie goes after her for revenge, but in the end, Ellie forgives her and let her go.
    The Main Problem: Joel's Death
    I'm really sure that many people didn't even play the game, they just saw the death of Joel and threw the disk like a frisbee. a lot of people say: "why the hell does Joel would go inside the cabin and said his name, a very strong detail that many of you didn't notice was that Joel Changed, he is not the same person he was after Sarah's death, and you can really notice this at the beginning of the game, Joel says to Ellie a joke and sings to her, the mercenary Joel would never say a joke and less sing.
    Ellie really changed Joel. and maybe it was just me or maybe there were a few people that thought that Joel Would die in this game, I thought that and i agree with you he deserved a better death but what characters in The Last of Us had a glorious death, none.
    Another valuable point than again many people didn't even care was the fact that the relationship between Ellie and Joel changed after Joel said to Ellie the truth about he did their relationship broke and you may say Ellie it is so ungrateful. but when Ellie saw how the guys that left Jackson ended she maybe thought that if the fireflies made the cure this wouldn't happen, that she could change that, and when Joel said to her the truth she broke.
    and now the Finale.
    Like the director said this game was about to empathize that's why you control Abby in the game. If you think this through, Joel would do the same if Ellie or Tommy were the ones that are dead in the game. Joel would Hunt that person and kill him just like Abby did to Joel Hunt Him and Kill him, and when I was playing the final Part I didn't want to kill Abby.
    So to Resume because I still don't know how to explain this in the way I want. The Last of Us Part II
    It is a good game, of course, it has their mistakes and script holes but you have to consider ALL THE GAME TO MAKE A FINAL DECISION not just play until the part where they kill Joel and cut the disk    … Expand

Watch a lets play to see what kind of art you'll be getting in the next 20 years from this social justice book burning culture, or lack there of. Truly this is a work of psychopathy and the authoritarian mindset of radical leftists.

    Technically very good, but the story is an out and out abomination.
    It destroys everything that was wonderful and enjoyable about the first game and replaces it with a cast of unlikeable characters and gender rubbish.

    After finally finishing the game I can say this is truly one of the best games I've ever played.Where some might have not enjoyed the way the story turned out (Which is fair) I wish it didn't turn out this way, but that doesn't mean I didn't like the game, because the game is **** amazing, probably the best looking games ever made.

    I don’t know what to say. A masterpiece is what this game is. It will make you angry while bringing tears to your eyes, and it motivates you to keep going forward so you can get your revenge on the ones who wronged you. My play through took 22 hours and I was immersed in the world and story every second. This game quality should be the standard all developers going forward. Naughty Dog hasI don’t know what to say.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This Game will probably be one of my favorite games of 2020. Now I'm not saying this game is better than the first game. But, it is still really Amazing. Ellie story is done in my opinion a well done way. Everything from the flashback to the ending made sense to me. Now the only critic I had for this game was that we play as Abby. To me I understand why we play as Abby because there are two sides to every coin but, I wish her story would have been cut down to make room for Ellie's story instead. Or better yet make her story a cutscene based story happening while Ellie story is happening. Another thing I see people complaining about is the ending and I get that but it makes sense. During the prologue Joel sings to Ellie before giving her the guitar. He states that " If I ever were to lose you. I'd surely lose myself." To me that is exactly what happened to Ellie. We see at the beginning of the story that Ellie is just trying to live a normal life the best she can. But, when Joel dies that world is shattered. When she deals with all the people that helped kill Joel you see she starts to break down because of some of the actions she took. Then we finally track down Abby again where we have our last fight. WHen she is about to kill Abby I believe when she sees Joel she realises that if she countinuess she will lose herself. She will be no better than Abby was. Risking her friends lives just to get revenge. When she returns to Her and Dinas farm, Dina and JJ are not there. She even tries to play the song Joel sang to her during the prologue but she is unable to since she lost her ring and pinky finger to Abby in their last fight. She truly did lose herself but she came back from it. Then we see Ellie put her guitar down and we see her walking away from the house from the window hopefully heading back to Jackson to possibly reunite with Dina and JJ. It makes sense that Ellie after everything finally realises that she did lose herself and now she is on a path to regain the person she once was. This ending to me made sense and was actually a fitting end to the story. This game was not perfect but, I don't believe it should receive all the hate it's getting. If you loved the first game I Highly Recommend that you get this game as well. This is definitely another top notch game by NaughtyDog.… Expand

    Absolute technological marvel from the whole technical team at Naughty Dog. The level of quality and skill of craft is seen from beginning to end and I cannot praise this high enough. Even on the base PS4 you will be in awe as you explore the varied environments over the course of the game. The world comes alive from trash on the streets, clutter in the    - There are no spoilers below. -

    Absolute technological marvel from the whole technical team at Naughty Dog. The level of quality and skill of craft is seen from beginning to end and I cannot praise this high enough. Even on the base PS4 you will be in awe as you explore the varied environments over the course of the game. The world comes alive from trash on the streets, clutter in the houses, light sources that react to everyday materials and nature, textures and meshes that mimic real life, foliage breaking through cracks of a collapsed society, and sound design that brings you into the brutal world you know from the first game.

    Unfortunately, the experience is ruined by poor writing and story telling from the first death to the last, through hundreds of infected, humans, and even animals. The progress of story telling jumps all over the place, characters are dull and only introduced to throw into the meat grinder, and everything is misery for the sake of shock. Characters from all representations are introduced over the course of the game which is a great step forward for all groups, but actually sympathizing or caring about them will be a hard sell for many. You will be angry, frustrated, and wanting to rush through much of the story in attempts to bring back focus for another character.

    The game reads like an attempt to be but falls on its head with a hard fail of an ending that is left open for more of the same in the future. Some major restructuring would have done this game some benefits and likely avoided how it is being absolutely **** on right no by the general majority. Is this saying that review bombing is good in this case? No. I want to warn people; The trailers cannot be trusted and have edited footage for pushing sales.

    I cannot recommend this game. If you were a fan of the first just leave it as that. If you come into this you will feel like walking away by hour 3. You will have half of the 25 hours playtime (on average) in this state of mind. This is by-design and in no way to the benefit of the player.

    The Last of Us was lightning in a bottle and will not happen again at the Naughty Dog studio under the current director and writers. Violence is bad and we all know it and this isn't introducing new concepts or becoming an instance classic. You are hurting your existing brand and will only be remembered for that.    … Expand

    The first game was great. It really saddens me how they betrayed the memories of the fantastic characters that they established from the first game. The story makes no sense at all and in the end you feel as if the whole game is pointless. The graphics look great, but this is the type of game where the story is really important and unfortunately it is a real disappointment.

A Naughty Dog está realmente de parabéns e realmente entregou tudo que prometeu e muito mais , que é uma coisa bem difícil hoje em dia. The first two hours of the game really set the mood for the rest of the game, because a lot of the game was painful to play through at points. And surprisingly I actually enjoyed playing as Abby and seeing the human sides of the people that you were after throughout the game. Even though I felt like as a player I spent a little bit too much time playing as Abby. Overall the game is not as bad as it was made out to be, by leaks and by the reviews, and the “agenda” that almost every negative review mentions isn’t as prominent as they cry about and is not a large factor in the game. The trans character is briefly touched on in one sentence and that’s all that’s mentioned of it, even though it was hinted at during gameplay. Also not a Naughty Dog dick rider, just loved the game.… Expand

    I loved LOU-1. And I wanted to love the follow up. I did love the first half as it was very true to the original. But then you have to play the 2nd half as Abby instead of Ellie. This was annoying for much of the game. Abby's chapters were more challenging overall, and I grew to be fond of her- she just didn't belong in this game. I felt like Naughty Dog ran out of ideas for the mainI loved LOU-1. And I wanted to love the follow up. I did love the first half as it was very true to the original. Plus it kept going back & forth through time. Annoying. I did like the environments, shooting, fighting, and overall game play. I just wish it focused on Ellie's story most of the game. I replayed the original several times, and I think I'll replay this one at least once just to know what I'm getting into the next time, but then I'll probably sell it. It's a shame- I love Naughty Dog- but this once is just up to the first one- which was one of the best games of all time!… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Incredible. Truly, an enjoyment to me. The story was gripping, real, and honest. Very much on par with the first in that regard. The Last of Us felt like a story, but also about people. The ending was definitely a scope of people and the decisions they make, for better or worse. Last of Us Part II takes that scope and puts it everywhere. Life is just people and the decisions they make, for better or worse. They just let it all happen right in front of you and leave you to sort out where you sit among it all and that's an insightful challenge. I enjoyed just sitting back at the credits and thinking, "wow, how do I feel about all this?" My only true critique is that the story narrative organically ends long before the game does. I understand that putting the Santa Barbara section in later as a DLC would have been damning to public regard, and that this will mostly not have another installment so ending it here was the only option. It just felt like overtime, but I still found the final scene with Joel to be very powerful and am overall satisfied.

    The combat was similar enough for me to regain my bearings after spending years away from the first and I found that inspiring in a sense of, "Ok. I remember the flow now, I'm back in this." Jumping from one character to another with different equipment kept things fresh as a way of problem solving from a different angle.    … Expand

The combat is great as well, my only problem with the game is that the story is exceptionally weak. Naughty dog has built up this story for the past few years and destroyed it with this sequel. The story of this 'sequel' hasAfter keeping us waiting for several years, you brought an amazing game to us, apart from the horrendous story. The graphics are absolutely stunning and look amazing. The combat is great as well, my only problem with the game is that the story is exceptionally weak. Naughty dog has built up this story for the past few years and destroyed it with this sequel. The story of this 'sequel' has so many holes and throws any attachments to the previous characters away. I'm trying to not give away any spoilers but I recommend that you do not play this game if you've grown to love the previous game for its story. Basically, stunning graphics, great mechanics, an exceptionally bad story for such a hyped game. Naughty dog, please learn from previous mistakes such as Terminator: Dark Fate and the Game of Thrones ending. This sequel's story breaks my heart, I do not know what they were smoking at Naughty Dog.… Expand

I especially fell in love with the gameplay mechanics, graphics and the audio. I couldn't seem to get off the game as I kept on wondering what would happen next to Ellie in her adventures. I also enjoyed the more enhanced horror to the game which madeIn my honest opinion, I thought this game was amazing.     I've spent a lot of time contemplating a review of this particular game. I don't usually review games in general on any forum - thus this being my first Metacritic review - some will claim "review bomb" but this is not the case, please hear me out. The first installment of this game was a masterpiece, it featured lovable characters that many people (including    The Last of Us Part II

    I've spent a lot of time contemplating a review of this particular game. I don't usually review games in general on any forum - thus this being my first Metacritic review - some will claim "review bomb" but this is not the case, please hear me out.

    The first installment of this game was a masterpiece, it featured lovable characters that many people (including myself) became attached to, just as in other games like Tomb Raider, but with the added emotional character attachment that oft doesn't develop, or at least not on such a deep level in video games. Along with the great narrative and exciting adventure that made TLoU so great.

    When I heard ND was making a TLoU2 I was excited to continue this adventure with the beloved characters I had become emotionally attached to, however this game took a turn for the worse early in my playthrough as the series' main protagonist fate was revealed.

    I wasn't a fan of the new characters, and it certainly wasn't what I thought I would be playing when I pre-ordered The Last of Us 2. As I was playing through I often thought to myself that this should have been a new IP, maybe named "Vengeance" or something rather than marketing it as TLoU2, it seems kind of like a bait and switch to me. In addition the gratuitous violence was on a new level, I'm sure this was what ND was going for but I wasn't a fan of it.

    The game play was somewhat improved over the original while not being top notch, I was not unhappy with that aspect nor was I unhappy with the visuals or the environments as I prefer more linear games. The animations were top notch, however I did feel the game was too long, it could have been half the play-time and achieved the same end result. About half way through I was ready for the credits to roll.

    I can't help but feel as I stated before that this should have been a new IP, which I think would have had more positive reviews, but a TLoU game this is not thus the low review score.

    Here's my take:

    Graphics: 9/10 - very good
    Environment: 7/10 - very good
    Animations: 9/10 - top notch
    Mechanics: 5/10 - good enough for the type of game it is
    Narrative: 0/10 - not good, not TLoU
    Characters: 1/10 - I barely remember their names let alone like them, other than Ellie
    Play-time: 3/10 - too long
    Gore: 0/10 - excessive and unnecessary
    Marketing: 0/10 - misleading

    In conclusion I will just say this, I'm disappointed with the game and ND, you're better than this! And I look forward to more masterpieces like Uncharted, but I'll probably not be buying any more TLoU games in the future.    … Expand

    Gameplay is decent. Dodging mechanic is pretty fun. The story, on the other hand, is one of the worst things I have ever seen/played. Completely undermines why i loved the characters of the original. It’s nowhere close to a 10/10 game but it’s not a 0/10 either.

    La historia y los personajes, tanto el rumbo y el mensaje final son una completa mierda, lo intentaron hacer super complejo cuando ya el primer juego era super simple y era perfecto por eso, bueno "perfecto" no es realmente, su historia no es nada del otro mundo y los personajes también, pero le da mil vueltas a este bodrio de secuela que solo destruyo el anterior

    Jogo muito bom que fecha com chave de ouro o último ano de grandes lançamento no PS4. Os desenvolvedores foram muito ambiciosos e corajosos em relação a história, sabendo do risco que seria mexer com os principais personagens da obra. Gráficos, jogabilidade e ambientação beiram à perfeição. Única crítica pra mim seria pequenos furos de roteiro

    The disappointment I have with this game is unimaginable. The story isn't just bad, it's horrendous because of the way the developers spat in the faces of fans. 5 years people have been waiting for the game, and unfortunately Naughtydog simply didn't give a **** The Last of us 2 is and will forever be a shameless cash grab and nothing more. Justice for Joel.

    Si se llamase de otra forma, fueran otros personajes, sería un juego con una mala historia, con mecanicas de la play tres pero con buenos gráficos. Pero no es así. No hace falta cagar en tus propios personajes para eso pasa años y simplemente matalos, es mejor.

A very dark and gritty extension to The Last of Us story that grips you the entire way through giving you so many questions that unravel and are answered as you play on. A bold choice for the franchise which I think really paid off. Gameplay is the same old last of us yet improved in every way, allowing you to freely explore the apocalyptic world as you so choose and discover memories of the oast. Personally I feel the game is better played yourself rather than watching a play through, but that's your choice. On a technical level, at least in everything I’ve seen so far, there is nothing new to show here. Honestly the biggest change is they made the quick time events wayy better. It’s okay. This is the biggest title Naughty Dog has probably ever handled so the pacing feels really inconsistent. In the first three and a half hours, the first half hour is the best and then slows wayyyyy down. Last of Us and all the Uncharted games are about 10 hours each. This one is supposed to be ~20 hours I heard but there’s not a lot of game to fill that space out. It’s a lot of moving from one cutscene to the next with nothing connecting it, but honestly that could just be because they wanted a slower opening before things ramp up. Idk, the first Last of Us starts with Joel’s daughter dying in his arms and while it does have its slow moments, they were always there to service the story. For the most part I feel the first game kept a pretty consistent high tension/energy throughout the full game. Second one hasn’t lost me yet but it’s starting to drag a bit. For comparison’s sake, 2 has one high octane moment in the first three and a half hours and doesn’t keep the momentum going. The first game imo had the opposite problem of never dwelling on impactful moments and swept them aside, opting for a time skip any time something big happened, but because of that never decreases the forward momentum from the very first scene of the game. Okay I’ll say there is one thing I outright don’t like and it’s that you can’t replace bottles with bricks and vice versa like in the first game. Now if you’re holding a filthy bottle and wanna pick up a shiny new brick your only choice is to throw the bottle. Not sure why this was implemented but it was probably because of Bottle Propaganda. One good thing I can say about The Last of Us 2 is how impressive the enemy AI is. It’s probably one step away from perfect in my eyes, the one thing missing of course being that enemies will still mindlessly throw themselves at you rather than backing down or running away but games gotta game so I didn’t really expect anything like that. Aside from that, tho, enemies will flank you, push forward when you reload, and just genuinely approach combat in a realistic way I wasn’t expecting. Enemies can pull you out from under cars, shout out your positions to their allies, and rush you if you get too close. There is a level of cartoonish csilliness, however, that comes with the game’s running theme of uncomfortability. Something like 3/5ths of the time when you kill a human, their allies will call out their name in dramatic fashion. the gameintends this to be dramatic, but given the sheer amount of times it happens, the overdramatized voice acting, and the INABILITY TO AVOID MOST COMBAT ENCOUNTERS, it just comes off as super dumb. This isn’t my only issue with the game’s themes nor is it even the biggest, but that’s a topic for another time. Combat still isn’t as deep as I wish it was, but with zombies feeling “smarter” at times and humans functioning like living thinking obstacles, going through it feels less like outsmarting a computer and more like outsmarting real people. It’s honestly just mean spirited in general. I thought the first few hours were fine but once human enemies show up the game takes on this guise of “Oh how could you kill them, they had a family … Expand

Demaciados agujeros de guion o continuidad, para partir Joel paso de ser un mercenario desconfiado, un pinche abuelo desvalido que llega y dice su nombre a un grupo de desconocidos, segundo demaciadas coincidencias necesarias solo para matar a Joel,fuera de eso un historia de casi 25 horas jugando buscando por un lado que Ellie logre su venganza, y otra mitad para obligarte a simpatizar con Abby forzosamente con la historia de los Scars. Peor aun el final, la ira de Ellie cuando aun nos hacían creer que su ultima interacción con Joel habia sido una pelea, tal vez era mas fácil de creer que perdonara a Abby, pero peor aun cuando muestran que Ellie queria arreglar su relacion con Joel, osea Abby le quito esa oportunidad, y dado como mato a todos los demás que perdonara a final Abby es totalmente no creible.… Expand

    I will be honest, this is not what I am waiting whole year. I like this game so much, but, she is much tougher, and whole game builds on this. The scenes are incredibly beautiful. Graphics are simply indistinguishable from reality. There is nothing to say about it, because it is even better than what I expected. The soundtrack here is beautiful as well as in the first part. But, i don'tI will be honest, this is not what I am waiting whole year. I like this game so much, but, she is much tougher, and whole game builds on this. The scenes are incredibly beautiful. Graphics are simply indistinguishable from reality. There is nothing to say about it, because it is even better than what I expected. The soundtrack here is beautiful as well as in the first part. Я нормально отнёсся (ещё в 2013 году), что Элли не гетеросексуалка, потом я заметил на горизонте видную мускулистую "даму" - Эбби, уже гетеросексуальную, но с явными признаками феминизма. Последней каплей для написания столь низкого отзыва стал, ВНИМАНИЕ, ТРАНСГЕНДЕР ПОДРОСТОК С АЗИАТСКОЙ ВНЕШНОСТЬЮ!!! Вы серьёзно?!!! Игра и так прописано темой с меньшинствами, а тут все в одном флаконе, осталось только на инвалидную коляску посадить этого подростка и он пройдет собеседование в любою европейской компании на любую позицию (а может его уже посадили за инвалидное кресло, я пока, к сожалению игру не допрошел, сил моральных все меньше и меньше).     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
