    I loved TLOU and all the DLCs. I had high hopes when I saw the trailer, and I ignored the leaks as best I could. The game is awful. When I finished TLOU the first time I immediately started it over again. When I finished part 2 I was relieved for it to be over and pissed off that after this long, and for $60, this is what I got. it's an awful game. naughty dog focused on refining theI loved TLOU and all the DLCs. The game play itself is fantastic, the story is compelling, and the characters, though frustrating at times, are very believable. The scenes of kissing, f*cking, lesbian etc. were not needed to complete the story .. I have kids and I play around them all the time and I don’t want them to see that kind of stories at this age… Expand

    Gameplay wise the game is a huge step up from the first game, it's more intense and far more visceral, especially melee combat which feels meaty.     Gameplay wise the game is a huge step up from the first game, it's more intense and far more visceral, especially melee combat which feels meaty. Small additions like being able to go prone open up lots of possibly for stealth, being able to crawl under cars, lay in grass to avoid patrols really opened up your options. The game also feels far more responsive than other games going for this hyper realistic style, gameplay was not sidelined for realism. As with all Naughty Dog games there were also many amazing set pieces with intense action sequences that got the adrenaline pumping.

    Visually it's a masterpiece, the cut scenes especially were fantastic. The animations were just on another level, which made the game feel so much more realistic, the tiniest details were paid attention to and it made a big difference overall. The lighting, textures, shadows, character models and particle effects were all so well done, the developers didn't leave any of the PS4s power on the table, and they did it all without too many performance drops.

    The audio was top-notch, with industry leading voice work and some of the best atmospheric sounds I've ever heard, which helped the gameplay feel beyond intense at times, certain areas were legitimately terrifying. One small touch which I loved was the fact enemies called out names when you killed their friends, it made them seem more real, instead of just random NPCs.

    The story was excellent, with some truly heartbreaking moments and lots of little stories interwoven throughout. You got to see the other side of the story in a way that's rarely the case, which made you reflect on your decisions and made you ask yourself "am I the bad guy?".

    Overall The Last of Us II is a masterpiece, and a game you definitely should play, unless you have a problem with a gay lead, like the people review bombing one of the best games ever made ;)    … Expand

    Spoilers:
    Some people complain about it being SJW agenda; but there isn't very much. There is a lesbian couple that is tye main character, then you have a transgender side-character near tye end of the game. People assume from pre-release "leaks" that the protagonist is also transgender but the game does not confirm nor deny that. Based on my opinion, it would be impossible for the main protagonist to be transgender in the world they live in with no medical labs or medicine to take for transition.
    I don't like how the game ended. Im left questioning the reason for the "third part" and what lessons were to gain from it. I plan on playing a second time thoroughly as my initial run I had sprinted through all the enemy AI.    … Expand

    I bought this game without hearing any of the rumors that were floating around apparently. Started playing and just got tired of being beat over the head with the wokeness. After hours of being wokedified it tries to have a story only to destroy key aspects of past characters. 3 hours in I just quit. Anyone wanna buy it real cheap. No, for real. Like Anthem cheap.

The game doesn't go for cheap jumpscares(although there are some jumpscares in there), instead it filled me with tension and a slight sense of dread. it worked really well.     I feel like I was betrayed and stabbed in the back. I cringed in the start, I am half way through the game and still cringing. Each step feels like the knife is being twisted and dugs deep in my heart. The environmental looks good but the pain does not stop. I feel nauseous.

What made the first game so epic and amazing was having Ellie attached at the hip, creating a dynamic that everyone fell in love with. It was such a good dynamic that they tried to replicate it with god of war. Not only did they undo that dynamic by separating them and spitting on their relationship the entire game and claiming Ellie “doesn’t need” Joel, but they then kill Joel in a way that was completely unbecoming of his established character. Joel is a man who has walls of trust issues. The idea that he would walk into a room and tell people his given name and where he lives is insane. To then have Ellie go on to kill hundreds for the sake of revenge to then not kill the person ACTUALLY responsible? … Expand

Also it's a game and even if you don't like the story the gameplay is amazing. TLOUP2 is an immensly dense game both in gameplay and story. This story examines the importance of those choices made in the first game and further examines the impact of a post apocalyptic world where murder and brutality is needed in order to survive. Here the story not only focuses on 2 individuals but looks at how these choices and circumstances effect everyone around our main characters. It's by far the most ambitious and satisfying game I've ever played. Now, some people obviously don't like the game and from what I've noticed is that people don't like it for one of two reasons: A. They feel the game Is pushing some sort of political agenda on them that they don't agree with. B. They're expectations of what the story should be do not match what the story actually is. Realize that this story does include LGBTQ characters, if you don't like that then this game probably isn't for you. I don't feel as though they were pushing an agenda these characters are there and they exist but there's not some grand message as far as they're orientations are concerned. They just are. Also Ellie liked girls in the first game so that shouldn't be a surprise re: Left Behind. Accept that what you want for the characters, and choices that you want to make are not what's going to happen because you are not them and they are not you. Drop all expectations of what the story will be and just let it happen and take in what it has to offer. These characters are not the same as the first game. 4 years have passed. They've changed, they've grown and they're going through something new. I loved this game. Is it the story I would've told? Probably not, but the story I would've told probably would've been boring and predictable. I appreciate that everytime I thought I knew what was going to happen next I was wrong. Si te molesta que Ellie sea homosexual y que en el juego este presente una diversidad de personas de distintas culturas, el problema eres tú no los desarrolladores.
    La jugabilidad es muy buena, mejoró en comparación al 1 y te da una infinidad de oportunidad para completar cada escenario como tú quieras.

    Хорошая игра - это та игра, которая вызывает эмоции. В этой игре их было много.
    Я рыдал как ё*аная с*чка, когда Джоэла убили. И это хорошо.
    Что насчёт Эбби. Она крайне противоречивый персонаж. Многие её ненавидели, проклинали, но в итоге, когда Элли совсем одичала, Эбби оказалась куда лучше. Месть взяла верх над Элли и затуманила её разум. Под конец, я даже стал её [Элли] ненавидеть.
    В начале игры за Эбби я хейтил её как только можно. Однако, по ходу раскрытия персонажа моё мнение о ней кардинально изменилось. Скажите мне хоть одну игру, где протагонист становится плохим, а антагонист, хорошим? (Если такие есть, то извиняюсь, просто не вспомнил таких. Но это не отменяет того, что это в играх можно встретить крайне редко)
    Что по оценкам:
    - Графика 10/10, лучше уже не будет.
    - Геймплей 7/10, слишком затянута миссия с Левом и концовка.
    - Сюжет 9/10, крайне редко в играх можно увидеть падение главного героя (Элли, не Эбби), как личность. Мне это нравится.
    Не было бы тут лесбийских поцелуев, а также секса, можно было бы поставить и 9.5/10    … Expand

That kind of story telling is really tacky and lazy. The world was good, the graphics were good even with a few glitches here and there. The game play and some mechanics were fun.     Awesome game. It met all my expectations. The gameplay has become higher compared to the first part. Improved graphics, the atmosphere of the post-Apocalypse is also better worked out. For the characters, you can still worry and love them.

I will not go into the leaks or spoilers for the first part of the review. In the spoiler section, I will begin just by giving some notice regarding the leaks, in this way, in case you wanted to know whether the leaks were true or not, you can read that part and not go into the rest of the spoilers, in case you will still play the game.
    Context: I'm a big fan of the previous games from Naughty Dog and loved the Last of Us. I do understand that some might not enjoy that much the mechanics or find the movement and other things a bit obsolete compared to other games today. But in terms of story, I loved the first game, and was really hyped for the second game.
    When the leaks came out, I read them, was thouroughly dissapointed, but decided to give them a benefit of the doubt and I bought the game. There were so many mixed reviews, that I just thought: I want to make up my own mind about it.
    Review: To be fair to the game, I will have to split this into two parts. First, the gameplay is much improved. Having said that, if you did not like the gameplay in the first game, I'm not sure if the improvements will change your mind. It does control more smoothly and there are some improvements to how combat and traversing works. I loved the gameplay and thought that it was a good mix of improving it while still having it feel like the first one. If they ever make a third, I would hope it would feel more modern and quick in terms of responsiveness. The comparison was, though not as bad, I felt kind of clunky moving, like the first Batman in Arkham Asylum. At least I had a sense of that, when compared to how I expected Ellie to move when compared to experience in other games. Anyway, the combat and stealth were all very good, I like the set pieces I played through and it was good. I felt a bit more options this time around given that the spaces are bigger. I thought this was a welcome addition. The graphics are excellent. Not a single word other than that. Let's move to the second part then, the story: I hated every single piece of it. I find it completely disrespectful to the fans of the first game. Comparison I have heard of comparing this game to the last season of Game of Thrones or to the Last Jedi are accurate. I will delve more in the spoiler section, but let's just say that they threw out so much potential in story arcs and character development, just to get rid of our favourite characters, portray others in a dramatically incoherent way this time just to bend to their whim of what they wanted to tell as a story, included new characters that just did not capture me. I hardly cared for them. And when I did (in the sense of story decisions that I would obviously say: do this, the characters seem to not care themselves...) The game is so bad that I have just finished the first half and have no desire to continue playing. Yes, I've started into the second part, but (explained in the spoilers), I am sick and disgusted at naughty dog. I have decided to just wait for Angry Joe to do their twitch stream and I will watch the rest of the game instead of playing, I think it will be more cathartic for me that way. I can't stomach it otherwise.
    So, technically this game is as perfect as it could be for the end of this generation and being a continuation of the first game (technically). Storywise, it just poops on the fans and leaves us disgusted and asking how they, as a studio, could have stooped so low and thought this would be good. I recommend watching reviews that aren't positive to get an idea of what I'm talking, since here I will limit how much I will say. The writers try to come out as philosophical and in result actually just deliver a plot that no one wanted, about the relentless anger and revenge that not even their characters are able to make believable (so many opportunities to turn back), and poor, very poor character development... I couldn't care less.

    Yes, the leaks were true. The story begins by (after some intro), Joel and Tommy saving Abby (who has come to revenge her doctor father who died when Joel saves Ellie at the end of the first game). Yes, PGA tour Abby kills Joel in a gruesome way with a golf club and you are forced to watch. Yes, you play the second half as Abby but, as I mentioned above, I was so disgusted by this part, I had to stop. By the time they transition anyway, you already know the ending, and I've looked up that you do have to battle against Ellie as Abby.
    This story is sh*t. it is so uninspired. It brings nothing new to the discussion of violence or revenger. It is a soulless plagiarism of the first game, destroying the characters we loved (both Joel and Ellie). There are flashblacks that show a glimpse of what the game could have been. this is an empty shell. I regret buying. The writers did not care about the fans.    … Expand

    The game is intense, and has really toching moments that make you want to stretch and hang on to them. Only Ellie gets a plot armor, and that makes the danger of the loved characters die very real. Overall, even after finishing it, the game will be struck in your head for a very long time.

    It's really sad that people don't addopted this game. Everything is almost perfect but not the plot. Unfortunally...

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
