    graphics obviously voice acting

    cons:
    they ruined characters from the previous game with strange decisions that made no sense for that character

    bad new characters that i couldnt invest myself in or care about (every single character in the abby storyline)

    weird pacing where they kill a character and then make you flashback to see who that person was

    the biggest blueballs moment i have ever had from the horrible ending

    torture porn near the end of the game for no reason (ellie gets impaled on a tree branch and this does nothing, they just wanted to be edgy i guess) and just strange things for shock value that do nothing story wise

    but seriously this game is not the 10/10 that those cave men said it was. they ruined the last of us and i dont believe that this game is canon. it felt more like a fanfiction than a last of us game. like the writing in this game was nowhere near as entertaining and believable than in the first game. like listening to dialogue between bill and joel is so entertaining but nothing ever comes close to that level in this game. that coupled with the horrible new “characters” made it even worse. they are just random people and their only character traits are that they either make jokes sometimes (dina) or they were loyal (jesse) just overall an awful experience because half the game you play as a horribly written character that nobody cares about. this choice was a horrible gameplay choice as well because it completely resets everything and gives you a new weapon set and upgrades and things. it felt so bad to restart everything and i hated everything about playing as abby.    … Expand

    Why do all people tell that that this game is garbage? This game is like the first game an absolute masterpiece and this is in my opinion a perfect example how toxic a gaming community can be.

    As much as I can’t say I agree with the story that Naughty Dog put out. The ending was something I had to sit and let marinate for a couple of days.

    If you look at this game from multiple perspectives, and question “Why did ND choose to do this in this way?”, it can make you appreciate the ending more. I was frustrated with how they handled the story and how the treated characters. 1 day later, I analyzed the game with a fresh mindset, and appreciate the story more.

    Best graphics and gameplay but worst story telling. The last 5 or 6 hours are absolutely awful. Characters are like tools of the scriptwriter all the time and make no sense. If you haven't played the Part 1, maybe you can try, but I don't really recommend it personally.

    Okay now here’s why I hate the game. The characters you like are quickly RIPPED away from you in a single swing. Joel is killed in a very disrespectful way, it is so important to get this right. And it falls flat.    … Expand

    First of All i know i was no one, and My Opinion or in this case this Review gonna get lost anyway in the Ocean of Angry People so i want to make this **** Quick.

    Wtf Sony? Wtf ND? Do you honestly **** thing not just your Head from a **** Bussiness Perspective is Okay? to do this? alright for some kinda reason i got an early access to the Game in my PS4 (idk if this was a Some kinda Joke? I'm not a Reviewer, why the **** i got a Review Copy?) well because the Controversy behind it i just think, why the Hell i'm gonna Waste my Time with This SJW Bull****.

    So Joel's Dead, yeah he Dead, Dead dead, not i saying it was a good thing, it could be Foreseen, especially when you already leak yourself that Ellie gonna be the Character that you Control in this Game so i get it she need a Reason yeah.
    But why? not why he dead, but the Way he dead, so you telling, there's this Person who has been lived 25 Years in a Post-Apocalyptic Setting, died because some Angry Mob Beat Him, and he whose been on a Dangerous Situation in his Entire Journey that Clearly had some Trust Issues, give his **** name to a **** Stranger, i get it if it just "Oh my Name's Joel or Joe" No the Man literally gives his **** Name, Real Name, Bruh.

    And then the Game Start, you playing as Ellie, don't get me Wrong the Graphic sure looks Nice, the Sound Design well its not Bad, the Gameplay? I Mean it just Assassins Creed a **** Recycle what can i call bad from that? Well there's, why the **** you make it more Simpler? why? You know the Gameplay from the first Game is Enough, it's not Hard Enough for A Beginner but not Easy Enough for a Veteran if you get what i meant, it had some Puzzle there and there that could help spice up the Gameplay a Little bit, and now Knowing about that **** and getting the first impression that the Gameplay is the Same, obviously people will expected the Same atleast to a Degree Challenges, now Robbing the Challenges out from the Game doesn't sound good at all right? then why the **** you do it? Christ man.

    And now the Story..... you know what **** the Story, you gave us the Opportunity as the Bad Guys so in a way we Could Attached to them right? but making the Ending so the Bad Guy wasn't even get what the **** they deserved does that even Sounds Right? What? So you telling me You give us the Player as Ellie a Motivation to Avenge Joel, and yet You Discard it altogether in the End? then why the **** Joel's Dead then? Did you just oh **** man for ****sake **** the Story, it feels empty because it was, for **** sake this game was just an Excuse for a SJW'S Collection doesn't it huh ND?

    You know what i don't care if i get an Early Access somehow i never ever want to **** Play this Game.

    Then why with the 3/10 Score then? Yeah it for it's Graphic and Sound Design and BGM Maybe.

However I believe most of the bad is counter balanced by the good. In the sequel theyve fixed many grievances making the gameplay and combat feel smoother and less clunky in comparison to its predecessor with a new range of weapons and items to make combat scenarios feel fresh. The story doesnt live up to the expectations the original but i dont think its as bad as people are making it out to be. I believed the final boss and gameplay segment before it was drawn out and un necessary. However i believe that the epilogue was extremely powerful and was probably one of my favourite ending of all time. I believe this game was worth it in my opinion but its very divisive and i think youd have to judge it yourself… Expand

In the end it feels like everyone is the bad guy. This guy could spot an ambush from a distance in the first game. Now, suddenly Joel and Tommy are stupid, even given away their details and where they live.
    Despite that, I think the game is still worth playing. The gameplay is one of the best from last gen. The animations are awesome as always, true Naughty Dog standard game.
    Naughty Dog will remain to be my favorite developer, but I cannot hide my disappointment in the story.    … Expand

    I almost finished the game .. everything is evolutionary starting from the graphics, mechanics, every detail has been polished to make the game the best in its generation .. the game has no relation with the LGBTQ community or anything

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes the game is beautiful, that I have to admit. The gameplay was fluid and the environments have great atmosphere. But the reason I play these games is for the story... and what a horror show this was. I seriously considered stopping playing 2-3 times because of the decisions that were made. I will not go into detail about the anti-male feel I had during the whole game, but it really made me uncomfortable at times. On a gameplay level it slightly improved on the previous game, but it also borrowed so much from it, playing it very safe. All in all I can't understand where the 10/10 comes from .. I really don't. And the trailers did indeed lie about the story played out .. big time.
    Edit: Just finished the game and I need to change my score from 2 to 1. This is the first time I hated the game I was playing. never happened to me. Forcing fans of the first game to play as the killer of your favorite character of all time is not ok .. ever.    … Expand

    If you value storytelling, writing, plots, and character development, then this game is master class on how NOT to write your story.

    TLOU2 is NOT a sequel to TLOU, it's an extremely pretentious metacommentary on violence and a statement about the "cycle of the revenge." It's this silly tit for tat revenge story. Not something even worth committing to writing.

    Don't believe most of the positive reviews. They're corporate shills lying to you, saying that we're bots or whatever. PLEASE NOT BUY THIS GAME. I implore you... or you'll be as upset, disappointed, and depressed as I was playing this. The leaks were 100% true and sadly I didn't heed them.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished this intense journey and can I say, it was wonderful. Hear me out.

    1) Joel dying was a SHOCK, now, I personally was not too attached to him. His choice at the end of The Last of Us Part 1 made me think. He damned an entire world, off of his own selfishness to keep Ellie alive. She wanted to be there, she wanted to make a cure. His choice was to curse the world with a plague, continuing the evolution of post-apocalypse life. To me, I thought what would the world continue to develop as? And that’s what we got in Part: 2. A continually developed, post-apocalyptic world. We know what the zombies are, what they do. We know there is no stopping them now, it’s accepted. We still know that humans are the apex, at the end of the day, and must develop as people in this new world.

    2) The LGBT stuff: HOW MANY GAMES, HOW MANY, have a STRAIGHT muscley man, and hot curvy woman at the forefront? HOW MANY?
    Almost all of them. To me, it was REFRESHING, to see some character development that wasn’t a cookie cutter man, and a cookie cutter woman, trying to love each other with the inconvenience of zombies in the way. And it was beautifully done. The complexity of the characters, Dina being pregnant with Jesse’s child, the strong woman Abby is because of the loss of her father and Owen’s typical charm with his love triangle and Abby not having it. Abby showing her rough outer self, with her soft maternal need to take care of Lev. It’s a story about a generation of young adults, making their way in a world where acceptance is survival. It’s really brilliant, if you think about it.

    3) Lack of character development? I feel like if you stopped clutching your pearls, for lack of cookie cutter protagonists and antagonists, you’d actually find there to be a lot. Abby grows incredibly by the end of the game. First appearing as a stone cold powerhouse, killing Joel, to becoming a maternal figure to Lev and his sister (who regrettably died way too fast after I spent ALL THAT TIME IN THE HOSPITAL.) As well as we see Ellie on a roller coaster. As well she should be. She was lied to about her encounter with the Fireflies, it was already shown she was a lesbian in the last game only for her to be confronted by that guy that all these people reviewing sound like. She wants revenge for Abby killing Joel, but at what cost? Dina getting killed, Jesse never being able to see his son? Going all the way back out to get the final blow, to find out Abby is bit, and she’s hung up to die. Still wanting revenge she tries, but at what cost, again? Losing her fingers, so the one thing she could keep from Joel, music, is gone. When Abby was as good as dead anyway. Bravo.

    4) Abby’s character design? I mean **** it, you might as well say every girl has to have big boobs an ass and curves to be taken seriously. Her difference in design as a character is what made her stand out. Even her sex scene, I mean albeit real INTENSE, showed even more of how her strength was beauty.

    5) Lev’s character, I don’t wanna hear any one of you talk about MULAN in a good way if you had a problem with Lev, in any way in this game. That’s all I gotta say about that.

    6) LGBT stuff: I find it interesting that a lot of people are complaining about the LGBT stuff, and then say they have no problem with people being gay. But wish that this game didn’t have it in there. As if there’s hundreds of games with LGBT stuff in it. When would you find it appropriate? Should the gays wait for an OP called “Sparkle Zombies?” Is it cool as long as you don’t have to look at it? Get over yourselves, homophobes.

    7) Lastly, if you had a problem with the game I think you should just stick to zombies in Call of Duty. Maybe Left 4 Dead. Because you’re looking for a cookie cutter zombie shooter, and not a game that’s willing to set itself apart from the rest. That’s what The Last of Us: Part 1, did. It made you think, it made you question what is right and wrong by the end. The same goes for this game, and they did it beautifully.

Joke of a game to make me play the killer of a fan favourite character halfway through this writing mess. TLOU 1 is a masterpiece, however this sequel, is not.     Firstly, ignore the bad reviews. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one. A finely crafted immersive masterpiece that gave me exactly what I wanted and surprised me with things I didn't know I wanted. I can't praise it enough, simply spectacular.

    I want to start off by saying that I am not much of a Playstation gamer, but I played The Last of Us on PS3 and fell in love with the characters and story. I got The Last of Us in the first week of its release, I love post-apocalyptic stories. It was the first playstation game that I genuinely felt a strong emotional connection to and I was so excited when Part 2 was announced. I haveI want to start off by saying that I am not much of a Playstation gamer, but I played The Last of Us on PS3 and fell in love with the characters and story.     This game takes everything you loved from the first game and destroys it. Not only that, but in order to tell the story in The Last of Us Part 2, the characters are forced into nonsensical and ridiculous situations. They behave entirely differently to the characters you remember from the first game. It reminded me of Game of Thrones Season 8, where characters are forced to behave nonsensically to push the narrative forwards. It is much the same in this game. The new characters that are introduced are utterly unlikeable, no matter how much the game is begging you to like them. As a side note and from a female perspective, I am also fed up of 'strong female character' = 'muscled, unemotional she-man". There are strong female characters that maintain their femininity in gaming such as Ellie in the first game and Lara Croft in the new tomb raider series. Female characters can be feminine whilst still being strong, we don't have to adopt a ton of masculine traits and I wish game developers would realise this. I want to play as characters I relate to and unfortunately the characters completely fail in this game.

    The graphics are stunning, though they have made some character models, such as Ellie, far uglier in Part 2. The gameplay is much the same from the first game. Unfortunately the story makes this game unplayable and left a horrible taste in my mouth upon completing it. I would rather pretend this entry into the franchise doesn't exist and have The Last of Us as a standalone title.    … Expand

Claro después vuelve la venganza a su mente pero a qué la iba a llevar? A ser igual que Joel? Iba a seguir en un eterno ciclo de venganza para que después la buscara lev? Realizing I wouldn't make it to them before they saw me I full on sprinted and killed them with a violent strike from my baseball bat. So i mount the car and run towards them then Ellie straight up flying kicks this dude in the face and while he's still reeling she crushes his skull with her bat.
    This is honestly the best combat AI i have ever experienced in a game. Every encounter is different depending on surroundings and dynamics. It really shines. I loved the first games story but i wasn't very impressed with the gameplay. This gameplay feels fast, frantic, desperate and realistic in all the best ways. Straight up loving it.    … Expand

The game itself is also very slow-paced and does not feel like the first one, eye-catching and appealing to the player, it feels slow and just depressing. I also would like to point out how it is such a scam to review this game a 95 and game of the year, Imagine paying others to get a good review. First the game get's you to hate that Abby woman from the depths of your soul and all of a sudden you have to play her story? I mean, what the hell, I don't wanna know her f***ing backstory I just wanna see the b***h bleed. So during the Abby part of the Story, which is the complete second half, I was constantly annoyed but hey, for the sake of the story I took it and continued. I have to say, I still hate her guts and wanna see her dead but in some ways I can understand her. She is on her own path of revenge, just like Ellie and I guess, that's what Naughty Dog's intentions were. To create an antagonist who is pretty similar to the protagonist but the way the story develops Abby is the bad and Ellie the good one. I'm disappointed that Ellie didn't finish her job in the end and practically lost everything. But not every game can have a happy end.
    On Ellie's part of the story I was super excited and it held up to it's promises. The movement of Ellie in comparison to Joel is better, the gameplay got a lot smother, I love the new skill tree, the fact, that Ellie has a knife made it way easier to move around infected and kill them where Abby on the other hand had to craft them. Totally legit, as a soldier to not have a knife on you, right *insert sarcasm here*
    I was impressed by the A.I. this time. Not the usual stupid moving patterns. The NPCs move like they're really on the look out, they turn their heads and realize when you're in their sight of view. It makes things way more tactic to move around them. But the infected are still pretty easy to trick and run around, even if they see you. You just circle around the room and use some throwables to kill them. Only the Rat King was really a challenge to defeat because of the dark and cramped environment of the hospital.
    The story itself blew me away. I had everything I expected...and more. So many emotions, especially when Joel died. I cried but on the other side I was so furious. I was driven by my own seeking for revenge.
    The graphics is really something. We don't need to discuss this, it's just mind blowing. During the game I made so many screenshots like in no other game ever. We have such a beautiful design and artwork in this game.

    Now for some other things people criticize. The violence being one part that's massively discussed about The Last of Us Part 2. Sure, there is a whole lot of violence but in a post apocalyptic world where monsters and men try to overpower each other and humans don't work together but also fight each other, there's a lot of space for violence. And with all the hatred and feeling of needed revenge it's not too much in my opinion.
    The relationship between Ellie and Dina. Why on earth are people complaining here? We live in 2020 and being gay is nothing to be ashamed of anymore. But still there are these homophobes who cry about every little thing between two people of the same gender. Grow up people!

    All in all I had a lot of fun, even with the Abby part of the story (still hate her though)    … Expand

The user review section of Part 2 just serves to show how the gaming community was not yet ready for a game like this - it's as upsetting as a post apocalyptic world should be, and it's only normal that ALL characters behave in a gruesome way.

    In my opinion, Joel's actions in the first game, especially in the hospital, are as horrible as Abbie's and Ellie's, being it because of personal vendetta or love. In the end, the greater good is completely forsaken and all that's left is grief. We just didn't get to see the fireflies side, so no one thought about that.

    This game portrays this dicotomy in a absolutely masterful way, so hats off for that.

    In terms of gameplay/visual effects/animation, it is in a league of it's own.

    The only reason I do not give it 10/10 is Joel's death and how it happens - possible that him and Tommy got softer over time, but still. Part 1 Joel would never bond like that straight away.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Пройдя данную рыготу, я понял, что больше ни в один шквал от Naughty Dog играть я не буду. Да, я был поражён детализацией, ох*ренной графикой и мельчайшим деталям, меня бросало в дрожь из за флешбэков Элли, но это ЕДИНСТВЕННОЕ, за что мне понравилась игра, как и всем людям.
    Про волосатые подмышки, выстрел девушке в ногу после чего она может бегать прыгать как не знаю Кто. Как Джоэла поставили на колени и просто убили самым наипозорнешим способом на глазах буквально у дочери, убийство Томми тоже самым идиотским способом... Два героя, которые в первой части сражались плечом к плечу и даже по одиночке разносили просто целые банды бандитов, оравы щелкунов и бегунов, унизила какая-то накаченная под белками самодовольная мразота. А все это перечисленное из за кого? Правильно, из за КОЕ КАКОЙ ХОРОШЕЙ ПОДРУГИ НИЛА ДРАКМАНА, ГОРЕТЬ В АДУ ЭТОЙ МР*ЗОТЕ. Люди из студии убивали себя буквально внутри, создавая данную игру, люди которые работали над первой частью когда работали над второй, буквально не выносили этот БРЕД и уходили из компании. Они просто не могли смотреть как герои, которые стали душой первой части, умирают как псы от рук какой-то накаченной прошмандовки. Разработчики не могли вынести этот идиотизм, эту мразотность ситуации.
    С концовкой полный пиздец. Естественно это прямой намёк на третью часть, я с Лешкой соглашусь, НО ЭТО САМЫЙ.ИДИОТСКИЙ.КОНЕЦ.КОТОРЫЙ.Я.ВИДЕЛ.
    Отомстить и переубивать человек 100 ради единственного человека, который дал тебе шанс на жизнь, который любил тебя и был для тебя как отец, а ты для него как дочь, и уже поздно осознать, что ты натворила из за этой мести и оставить в живых убийцу ФАКТИЧЕСКИ твоего отца и дяди, и при этом потерять любимого человека и остаться ни с чем - сверх идиотизм.
    Смысл понятен прекрасно - за местью погонишься, без всего останешься, это понятно всем, но ради такой концовки делать игру несколько лет? Сверх идиотизм.
    История о том, как я начал ненавидеть всей клеточкой своей души феминизм во всех его проявлениях где бы он ни был.
    Игру ждал 5 лет, и в компании naughty dog я полностью разочаровался.

    Discarding in a humiliating way the best character in a game, leaving him stupid and careless is revolting to say the least! I just don't give zero because the technical part is very good! Neil Druckman, the only thing you got was to make this game forgettable!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok I'm going to do this right. I played the game in its entirety so I experienced and felt every moment, and I can say I'm so disappointed, this story is ruining my days.
    First of all, almost every character is so inconsistent:
    - Joel and Tommy look like the most stupid human beings left on Earth, the exact opposite we learnt from TLOU1. telling some bad strangers their real name and their location is so stupid that even a normal person would avoid.
    - Tommy at first seems that he doesn't even want to seek vengeance because Jackson needs protection and doesn't want to lose anyone else…. but later on the game, more precisely at The Farm chapter, he thows **** against Ellie just because she momentanely says she has abandoned her mission of Revenge. WTF? Tommy cares about Ellie a lot and knows how much Joel cared about her…. he would never act like that.
    - The end…. Ellie loses EVERYTHING and Abby nothing…. and it's impossibile not to be disappointed. Thart character is so horrible and also they are trying to replace Joel and Ellie with Abby and Lev. Such a great potential incredibly ruined….    … Expand

    This is an amazing game. I wish there was more time with Joel and Ellie. It made what happens seem unearned.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
