    After seeing all this negative reviews I still decided to buy it on the release date and see for myself. OMG, this game is so good gameplay wise and specially the graphics, presentation. The story was sad and some parts a little disappointing but that doesn’t matter because the gameplay is what really matters. Breath of the wild’s story suffered by not being as deep as it’s predecessors,After seeing all this negative reviews I still decided to buy it on the release date and see for myself. OMG, this game is so good gameplay wise and specially the graphics, presentation. The story was sad and some parts a little disappointing but that doesn’t matter because the gameplay is what really matters. Breath of the wild’s story suffered by not being as deep as it’s predecessors, but was universally praised for its good gameplay and presentation. It is the same thing here, a very good quality triple A title here so good you will want to play it again once you beat the campaign. There were some slight changes to the gameplay and combat system but not big changes but is okay as the first game mechanics were near perfect so it wasn’t necessary to completely change the combat system. What we got here is a good game that deserves a chance as NaughtyDog keeps doing what it does best a very fun game that really entertains you, as that’s what the video games are in the first place, to have fun. Please play this game is very fun, you might not like where the direction of the story goes but the overall game is what really matters. Stop listening to those haters who negatively reviewed this game and they haven’t even played it or even completed the first five hours of the game. Or didn’t even like the first game in the first place as they suck at it from the beginning. If you like the challenge in a game and using your head often this game is for you, you won’t be disappointed. This is a masterpiece that will be talked forever as one of the most controversial games in this decade. Worth the wait.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I got to play the game early and I'm not impressed. Gameplay is improved, soundtrack and graphics are great but the story and characters? Two hours in and was deeply disappointed already. I got to the ending and It's crap. Stupid decisions made by smart characters and shoehorning characters into the story that didn't even matter in the first game. Too many things feel forced and it ruins the enjoyment. 7 years for a let down.

    You expect me to play as some random girl put into the story because of some random NPC after doing what she did? Also in TLOU1 it was a completely different NPC looking guy. No thanks. You also expect me to fight a main character of the last game and leave her in a pool of blood? Are you insane? Terrible writing. Abby gets kidnapped and weakened. Ellie doesn't even get her revenge correctly and it's completely out of character. She helps them escape. The last thing she could've done to even make a TINY redemption to the game is kill Lev and Abby. No we don't even get that. We get something out of character. They escape.

    This is at best a fanfiction. Will be returning this title. The leaks saved people money. I'm telling you to save your money too. In short, a poor story of constant revenge that has NO meaning and insults the whole fanbase. Biggest let down of the GENERATION. At least on the brightside the moments of Ellie and Joel are good and the gameplay but anything with Abby isn't worth jack.    … Expand

So....basically,2020 killed another thing now,The last of us is definetly dead now,the beggining of the game is cool ok,then Joel dies because of a **** plot,that **** didnt even made sense,the problem here,isnt that Ellie is a lesbian or something like that nah,the problem is that things that happen in the game doesnt make sense,how does Tommy survive A HEADSHOT?? And Joel dies from a golf club,at least he could have died with some honor you know,he is one of the best playstation characters...and the ending....jesus....ellie lets abby live for i dont know what reason,she remembered joel....and then she blames joel he doomed humanity just like she does in the entire game....R.I.P The Last of Us… Expand

Most of us don't care that the lead is female, nor that she's gay. The reason is that the story, writing and dialogue is awful. As someone who played and loved the first game, I was left dumbfounded how the everyone from the first game felt so out of character. After their stupid decisions gets Joel killed, the story devolves into this bland revenge plot, with the moral being 'revenge is bad'. And the story is all this game has, as the gameplay is nearly unchanged from the original despite it being released a whole console generation later. If this game wasn't a sequel to this beloved game, I would give it a mediocre 5/10, which makes it sting even more: a continuation of one of the best tales in video games is just mediocre.     To co zrobili z Joelem, a i jak poprowadzona została po tym fabuła przekracza ludzkie pojęcie. Chyba pozazdrościli twórcom "gry o tron". Pokazali, że da się zepsuć coś epickiego bardziej jak zrobili to nawet twórcy GoT w 8 sezonie.

    I love naughty dog games, and i have bought every single game and loved them all. My favorite was the last of us 1.

    The last of us 2 killed the franchise and showed that even the biggest companies can have slip ups. The game play is good,mechanics are good too, world design is beautiful.     After just finishing The Last of Us I will keep this as spoiler friendly as possible. The Last of Us 2 at times with it’s graphical presentation and ultra smooth control can be awe inspiring. The attention to detail that was so evident with the first returns in some of it’s sprawling environments. Naughty Dog should be commended for that. Character models are top notch and the sound is theAfter just finishing The Last of Us I will keep this as spoiler friendly as possible. The attention to detail that was so evident with the first returns in some of it’s sprawling environments. Naughty Dog should be commended for that. Character models are top notch and the sound is the type of quality you expect from Naugthy Dog. Where the game falters is in its story telling, pacing and the overall direction of its character development. There is not one like able character to be had in this story. Everyone even the main character of Ellie is portrayed as being wholly monsters and for some of the previous characters who were established and beloved in part one they make choices that are counter to everything we know them to be. Many choices taken by them serve to only push the next plot point forward regardless if its something they actually would have done which is a huge no-no when it comes to writing well thought out character development. Quite Frankly the handling of the legacy characters of this franchise leaves much to be desired and thats my main take away. The last of Us 2 leaves a lasting feeling of leaving to much to be desired, things you felt never should have happened to or with the majority of its cast. Where as the first game had little rays of hope and light in this game there exist none. Its one bleak depressing slog from start to finish. Playing as the games new co protagonist Abby was one of my personal worst experiences in gaming after some of the egregious acts she partakes in. The continued forcing to switch to her really hurt my overall gaming experience. I simply did not like this character for her actions and there was nothing that could make me like her after what she does. She came across as the games clear cut villain and it was never going to go over well with the majority of gamers to be forced to play with her in this game. She will go down as one of the most polarizing hated characters in gaming history. Overall The Last of Us 2 outstanding presentation, accessibility, and character design can not make up for such a poorly executed story. I wanted to love this game as much as I did the first but I just generally had one of the worst game experiences of my gaming lifetime.… Expand

We loved the last of us so much because of Joel And the amazing relationship he had with Ellie. And they took that away from us. A badass caring father figure like Joel taken away so fast.     The insertion of peak 2016 identity politics and 'rian johnsoning' of the story dissolve any credibility with this project. Complete with a bleak and dull story and weak subversion of sarkesian proportions that make this an absolute pantomime performance. Nice graphics. Massively unlikeable characters.

    should have made a straight to TV movie instead.

Joel dies in the first hour of the game u play 50% of the game as Abby the person who killed Joel. Joel the character we all love die a slow slow and painful death from a golf club. Ellie try revenge Joel the ending is just silly. The ending is that u finally get Abby and u have the opportunity kill the person who killed Joel and not only Joel almost all people u cared and what u do u let this person go. Yes u let the person who take away everything u had everything u love and u keep only this person alive all people who helped Abby are dead but u keep Abby alive. Also Abby bit off 2 of your fingers at the end of the game so that Ellie can't even play her Guitar anymore the only thing she cared about because this guitar is from Joel so Abby take away all happiness Ellie had but Abby can live a happy life now why? Also the gameplay isn't so much better than part 1 and part 1 had a simple mediocre gameplay. So yeah I would give TLOU part 1 a 7/10 and part 2 a 0/10 because the story and characters the things what made TLOU so special are bad awfully written in part 2.… Expand

I'd call it a masterpiece and give it a 10/10 on that side. Unfortunately, the game story lets the game down. This game is a testament to Woke. I had to skip several cut-scenes since I personally don't want their agenda thrust onto me, and by the end of the game I really didn't care that much and just wanted the thing to end. I was not in favour of some of the more violent scenes so I skipped them too. I think the company would have done a great job if they had stayed away from the woke agenda which would mean the critics would slated the game as they have all bought into woke. Gamers would most likely rate it highly then. Aside from the woke agenda, the way the story was presented wasn't that bad, as I enjoyed playing as different characters, but wished they had offered the player choices that would have shaped the story, instead of forcing them down a linear path of revenge. It was cool though to play the story from opposing main characters and see how they both ended up in the same place. The revenge plot did spoil the story though, and was another reason why I just didn't care when I got towards the end of the game.
    So summary is: great graphics, and animation, poor story and choc full of woke agenda, and sadly the story is such a let down, I can't give the game more than 3/10.    … Expand

Gameplay is also just improved in every way from the first game. Literally can't emphasize that enough! If all you care about is gameplay and graphics BUY THIS GAME! Hell I'd even say rent it if possible. I unfortunately do love story and will honestly play very bad games if the story is interesting enough to me. Story matters more to me than gameplay and especially now more than ever. I want a world that can take my mind off of our horrible world we live in. This game succeeds in that regard for the first half of the game, then you are violently pulled out of this immersive world shoved against a wall and beaten and told to love and sympathize with a character you hate. Not only that but you get to spend the next 10-15 hours playing as her. This is where the game is ruined for me I can't stress enough how awful the game gets after the first half.

    The best way I can describe this feeling I have is I feel the same way now as I did after watching star wars the last jedi(or after playing KH3). It feels like Naughty dog just wanted to SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS and that's all they cared about. They didnt wanna give us those powerful feelings from the first game they wanted to give us something divisive. They wanted us to argue over this game and be mixed about it. They lied to us in the trailer specifically to trick us. I know they wanted this because the sections of the game where ellie is with Joel (the birthday for example) are literally the best and most heartfelt moments. They made me feel like I was playing a master class of game but then they slam you back to the world of this game almost like a cruel tease. I'll be honest I'm sad Joel died I hated it, I honestly was one of the people who thought his choice at the end of the last of us was wrong and selfish and even figured he'd die because of it. I didnt want him to though....and definitely not the way he did. But again I actually support his death in some way he was kind of meant to die this game it made sense and the anger I felt was so real it gave me goosebumps and I knew I wanted to destroy all the people involved with it. But then ya don't you brutally beat one girl from the group to death (a minor character from the group I might add)and the rest of their death's are just self defense usually and it's over quickly. Then when you finally get to Abby and it's time to make that jerk pay....Abby kills your friend maims Tommy and kicks your ass.....BUT WAIT we get to go after her I shouldve known Ellie is a bad ass and is gonna make this ***** pay for everything we're gonna get the vengeance for Joel's death......oh wait no Ellie gets her fingers bitten off by Abby and then let's Abby go because she suddenly doesn't want revenge anymore......oh and Ellie can never play guitar again the one connection she still had with Joel, Abby took that too. Cool.....I guess....so Ellie loses everything and that's the story.....great but hey at least she sacrificed everything......and then.....still didn't get....vengeance.....yep.

    This series is now honestly dead to me I miss young Ellie and Joel's adventures. Maybe that's the point of this game is that's where it should've ended but because of Joel's actions he's caused Ellie (and us) and the world more suffering because he couldn't let go and just cherish the time he did spend with her. Idk but I guess I'm just disappointed with the game because I feel let down.     Very disappointed I was definitely going to buy this game I even ignored the leaks and what was being said but because I use metacritic uses score as guidance to my purchases I will never play the game naughty dog have deceived the fanbase to the much beloved first I'm not going to play 10 hours of another character sorry.

Wait for the new hardware to come out and possibly, most likely last of us part 3. This game shows the dynamic of the franchise and how it can immerse you in the world and relate. This is a world of dead. An apocalypse. The world has ended and there is people who survive and people who die simple. Not every death will be deserved or the best way to die it’s an apocalypse. That is the point of story telling. You have good and bad moments. Will it be sad at Times yes. When Joel dies yes it was sad and it hurts but not everything will be roses. Not everyone will just die on a death bed. The game is meant to be like that it’s called great story telling. Different story telling it’s not like your typical game that sticks with the same characters for 5 or so games. Then if that was case you same people would complain how it’s josh Joel and Ellie and not anyone new. They took the shocking approach. Ellie is still alive. Yes Joel dies but he had a great legacy and will forever be remembered. Abby is still alive which can spark up stuff for a third game. We have new characters that they can build off of and make you love them as well. I know people want more backstory playtime with Abby to get invested. Maybe that comes in another game. I’m fine with what I got because most people just wanna know why and they tell you why and yes if someone dad dies it’s enough to want to kill someone. Plain and simple. I think some people just saw cut scenes heard spoilers and said forget the game without playing through it and getting that experience as too why. It’s a great game with a great story again. Just have to learn how to get over stuff it’s a game. Also if you are leaving a bad review or rating because Ellie is lesbian then figure your life out. That is not a reason to hate a game get over yourself and be a adult. Otherwise the game is great I still think first one is better but this game is great. People need to stop whining it’s a game it’s meant to have heartbreak and sad stuff.     The writing of this game just ruined everything else.
    I wouldn't feel disgusting like this if players can choose endings or it just change the way to tell this story.

    Essentially the story is what made the player feel that the game is fun and interesting. However, all of that is nowhere to be found in the last of us part II except for a few instances, and so what is left is a game that is frustrating and unappealing. A game that makes the player feel bad for playing it. as the result the game becomes unplayable especially in the second half of the game!

    The graphics and gameplay are great and a step up from the previous game, but again I believe that the story is what made the first game incredible and it is same reason why this sequel sucks. I believe The story is ruined because of the choices the devs took but most importantly the execution of these choices!    … Expand

I think, this shows how it's not just about surviving in this new harsh world, but that the people get to live in it and they have feelings, do moral and unmoral choices on their way through life and you get all the backstory, how Ellie grows up from teenager to adult, that the lies will surface, that some decision cost you more than you bargained for. I think it's wonderful, that we get to discover worlds of WLF and Scars, but also simple things like feelings for other and how complicated they are.… Expand

    Great game. I have spent 3 days on TLOU2. I wanted finish this game to know how all ends and it the same time I wanted this game to never end. The end of the game leaves you with your thoughts and you just sit and think "What developers wanted to say?"

He sent me back a picture of him and his father, a good friend of mine, tossing this disc into the air and shooting it with a shotgun. I can't thnk of a better way to dispose of such antiWhite, antimale, antifather garbage. Well, besides never having bought it in the first place.     Very weak story with characters you won’t care about. The game tries to shock the players but even fails in that. Side mission are an effort to strech the playtime and are totally useless. The plot is very weak and leaves you with a feeling that you really waisted you time.
    Gameplay wise it pretty much the same mechanics as the previous game and are clunky and outdated.

    Then here comes Part 2 where Joel is suddenly the bad guy, there's nothing hopeful, there is no way around making terrible choices and then being chastise for it. Then being forced to play a significant portion of the game as the character who killed him. While there is motivation for this character to have done what she did, we didn't build the relationship or understand the character like we had with Joel and Ellie in the previous game. Prior to taking control, we literally only knew her as an enemy.

    Sure, the graphics and sounds are great, but it doesn't excuse the bad story and character assassinations we didn't need or want. Joel represents the fans in their eyes, he deserved a better ending and we deserved a better game.    … Expand
