It’s frustrating that this game is so polarizing, but I presume this was Druckmann’s intentions and that he accomplished what he wanted to accomplish. I fall into the camp that was thoroughly disappointed with the story and plot. I agree that cinematics and music is stunning, and I disagree with those that say the gameplay wasn’t a step up. I liked the game mechanics and noticed improved transitions and sequencing in combat. In order to try and overcome my biases and emotions, I have read a bunch of positive reviews to see why others thought so highly of the game. What I have noticed is a trend of those who have little connection to TLOU original characters; they either played the original for the first time recently (or not at all), or the original was not their favorite game of all time, like it is for those of us who were disappointed by the storyline in TLOU2. And let’s be honest, review bombing goes both ways - a lot of these 10/10 reviews have no substance, which is telling that they were not emotionally connected to the story or are accounts created to try and offset the 0/10 reviews (which makes it hard to believe they are real reviews). Naughty Dog, you absolutely crushed us. This was the wrong story to use as a platform to examine the cycle of violence and its consequences. TLOU story was so impactful because there was hope in Joel and Ellie’s story in a desolate, hopeless world, and it was in that hope that ALL of us diehard fans found “something to fight for”. There is no hope in the storyline of TLOU2 - the revenge plot and its execution was way too easily contrived, characters decisions are forced to align to the plot’s revenge theme, rather than the characters driving the storyline and the forgiveness shown at the end by Ellie is hollow, forced, unbelievable and used as a cheap literary solution to attempt to give the whole story justification. I admit that I didn’t want to kill Abby at the end either, but it wasn’t because I was somehow newly sympathetic for her character, story and it’s arc; I was emotionally exhausted and just wanted the game to end. The characters I cared about had already been bastardized and were broken beyond repair and hopeless by this point. We the diehard fans of the original story deserve better than what was given. The story was absolutely not one “deserving of Joel and Ellie” as Druckmann promised, and a video game - a 3rd person shooter, Story- driven, apocalyptic, survival game - should not have been the vehicle to examine the cycle of violence/“revenge is bad motif”. Especially one that takes 40 hours to complete and leaves you emotionally hollow upon completion. I implore those who feel as I do to leave reviews like this in hopes that it will somehow hold ND accountable to its previous high standard of game development and prevent something like this from happening again.… Expand

A trash character like abby ? I can't sympathize her, why i must play half of the game after her ? Her motivation ends in the begging. Generaly, this revenge plot, about violence breeds violence in a post apocalyptic world where people kills each other every day to survive sounds funny. The plot havent nothing special, rather this is neil sick vision. Fake marketing ? Sony and nd intentional replace joel ? Why ?… Expand

I don't know what's happening, but my review may not last long here. Firstly, I played this game because it's a gift. I never played the first, but I watched a full playthrough of it and it was enough to make me feel hopeful. This game... does not hit the same way the first did. If you want to leave with a feeling of relief and hope for the future, don't get this game. It's not what you're expecting. The user score for this game is actually not majorly negative or positive from my experience. It's very neutral. In between. The players are very split. That's because this is a game that is not really a game for it's audience.

    The reason why The Last of Us 2 isn't as great, is because it doesn't take into account it's audience. It has a good lesson, and it's executed well, but the lesson and execution does not fit the franchise. It was not created with it's audience in mind, one of the most basic things a game creator must consider. The Audience. Naughty Dog has gotten so absorbed into all the other aspects of creating a game that it has forgotten one of the most basic elements of all. The audience. It forces you to continue on a revenge storyline, which at the end, teaches you revenge is essentially bad. Sure, this is good for people who don't know what, but you can see from people's reactions, that the other half of the audience does know it.

    The reason why those who hate it hate it so much, is because it forces people who don't like revenge, to continue on the route to see what happens to a character they love. I review it as a 3/10 not because I don't care for the other aspects that they've put into it, but because they've neglected a basic element. Do note, I am not reviewing for everyone, simply for myself. It's spaghetti without tomato sauce, some people may like it, some may not. I don't review this to tell everyone it's bad, but to warn those who think alike me.

    If you are like me, and dislike revenge and would rather not be forced to carry out revenge to get it hammered in your head that it is bad, don't play it. Even if it's a gift. You will feel extremely frustrated and tired before the first hour is out.

    If you do believe revenge isn't so bad, or playing the game to see how they teach the lesson would be nice, I recommend you play it. You may enjoy it.    … Expand

The second part is simply impossible to play. I'm sorry I bought the Collector's Edition. If in the levels for Ellie you get at least some pleasure from the game (due to the storyline with Dina and love for Ellie since Part 1), then the levels with Abby are just torture. I remember that I was just waiting for this horror to end and the game would return me to Ellie. The ending is ... You know, I never cried like that from disappointment. This game is dead for me. Now I can't even play the first part of the game. My opinion is Ellie should stay with Dinah, Abby should be in the grave. The graphics in the game are amazing, so I bet 1 out of 10 I do not recommend buying… Expand

    I have given 1 rating and that's being generous. The story is just dumb and doesn't make much sense after TLOU1's amazing story. The graphics and animations are good but not Excellent or Defiying. Overall if the story wasn't so stretched it could have been better. Most likely this game needed a much better narrative.

    Given how amazing the first game is I was so excited for the next instalment. Maybe that’s part of the issue, it made the fall even harder.

    Complete misstep and from naughty dog ? Come on! all they had to do was give this to any group of testers and listen to their honest feedback. Complete Joke of a story

    Achei bem ruim a história do 2, a história do 1 sem pegar nada de agenda política, nem feminismo foi ótima. Ia dar zero, mas a jogabilidade e os gráficos são sensacionais, a nota baixa é pq cagaram a história na minha opinião.

I hated her so much I was throwing her off the roof just to make me feel better. I wanted to get back into the revenge story I was so engrossed in but when it was taking longer than I thought it should, I checked online to see how long I would have to play Abby for.. to my absolute horror It was 6 hours of gameplay.. I have been trying for weeks to get back on to play it, but it's a chore every time now. I doubt I'll finish it. I really tried to give it a chance but the story just makes no sense anymore. Killing Joel was **** yeah, but having to play Abby was pure torture.. The story lost all appeal at this point and no matter how many times I tried to play as Abby - I hated her. I had no motivation to move forward in the game because I couldn't feel anything for this character other than annoyance and hate. The last thing I wanted to do is try and understand her goals and motivations - I didn't care. Disappointed. I agree that the game feels ruined… Expand

The game's story was simple but the way it drove character development was something I've yet to see in a video-game. The characters were stellar and were the highlight of the game. The game-play felt raw and somewhat clunky but still really friggin fun and challenging. Needless to say I was waiting for Part II with as much excitement as I could have. Did it deliver? Well sadly no. What happened with Part II's story-telling feels like a theme brought to life no matter the cost, bending the characters to do its biding, The game relies on suspension of disbelief to the point you stop bothering to think anymore because the more you do, the more of a headache you get. This is a game that consistently and relentlessly punishes you for the actions you are forced to commit. So after hours of being beaten with a hammer to the head on how bad you should feel, you just stop caring anymore. The dissonance is so potent in this game that you feel the game writer's strings trying to manipulate you into feeling what the want. And do you? Well no, it does the opposite as it feels artificial and forced, and so doesn't deliver it's message. Don't get me started on the false advertising and trying to market this game as a Joel and Ellie game. You guys didn't have the guts to show it for what it was but you wanted to milk that dough, didn't you? Here's a tip. If something is not in your game, don't show it, will ya? It's really odd to me how one makes a game that is supposed to consciously divide the fan-base and then acts surprised when it happens. Well **** what did you guys expect? Now let me address the elephant in the room. Joel's death. Some people will say: 'ha, you're obviously just mad about it, get over it sucker and enjoy the game'. The decision was stupid because such a pivotal moment should have been constructed better. It betrays the intelligence of Tommy and Joel, and immediately throws Abby under the bus in terms of the player empathizing with her. I understand her motivations, but I never cared for her. If the game started with her build her up as someone who's got a goal I can sympathize with and then made her clash with the Jackson team, then that would be some good drama. That would have made me torn between the characters. Instead I got to walk around across Seattle doing pointless side-quest detours filled with exposition. Really boring stuff. Anyway game-play wise it's pretty good, you can see the improvements although I've had more bugs and glitches in Part II than Part I. The game also looks beautifully and the setpieces and level design is stellar. If all I cared for was that though, I would have gotten one of them Call Of Duty games or something and called it a day. It all comes down to the story man. And except for a couple of Ellie and Joel related flashbacks the story doesn't move me one bit.… Expand

    Ich hab den ersten teil geliebt und habe mich auf den zweiten riesig gefreut. Ich hab sogar in Erwägung gezogen mir extra für dieses Spiel eine PS4 zu holen. Nachdem sich dann schon im Vorfeld zeigte was hier los ist, habe ich mich dagegen entschieden und mir statt dessen nur eine PS4 von einer Freundin geliehen und mir das spiel gebraucht gekauft. Sobald sie es auch durch hat, wirds wieder verkauft. Hauptsache weg mit diesem Schandfleck der spielegeschichte.

    Damit wir uns hier nicht falsch verstehen. Ich habe nicht das geringste gegen das Transgender Thema. Abgesehen davon, das es sehr schlecht in die Geschichte integriert ist. Im Gegenteil. Ich wäre sogar begeistert gewesen, wenn das Thema vernünftig eingearbeitet worden wäre. Warum? Nun, unter anderem weil oben erwähnte Freundin ursprünglich ein Freund war. Aber dazu wird sie hoffentlich selber irgendwann noch ein paar Worte hier schreiben. Daher genug davon.

    Was mich am meisten getört hat war, wie erwähnt, die story mit dem Fokus auf Abby. Warum? Warum ist sie die "gute"? Warum nicht Ellie und Lev auf die reise schicken um Joel zu rächen oder Tommy zurück zu holen? Gerne auch mit Romanze oder sogar dreiecks Geschichte zwischen Ellie, Lev und Dina. Ich kann mir 100 Verläufe der Geschichte vorstellen die besser gewesen wären als Ellie vollständig zu vernichten und ihr am ende sogar die Möglichkeit zu nehmen Gitarre zu spielen. Wenn ich am ende wenigstens die Wahl gehabt hätte Tommy zu sagen "ne lass mal besser nicht machen" und nur wenn ich ja sage wird Ellie so zerstört. Also wenn das "ende" optional gewesen wäre. Aber nein, man spuckt den Spielern lieber ins Gesicht.
    Es hätte so toll sein können. Ich hab mich so gefreut. Aber scheinbar wollte man im hause Naughty Dog das ich nie wieder eines ihrer Spiele neu kaufe. In sofern, hats super geklappt. Ich werde mich ewig an den Spektakulären ersten teil erinnern und sowohl teil zwei als auch Naughty Dog ab jetzt abschreiben.    … Expand

    -No inova en ninguna cosa, solo mejora las graficas y el sistema de mejorar las armas que implementa no tiene nada nuevo ya que en shooters tipicos como COD llevan usando eso desde sus primeras sagas.

End the vegeance cycle, but Abby was the person that wanted to kill Elliie for the cure without her consent. She is no saint. I loved Dina , Jesse and Tommy but whole dynamic switch to force you to sympathize with Abby is not there even when she went to help yara and lev.… Expand

    The look of the game is super stunning and the the movements feel great too, but how they continued the story is just completly bad and focused on the revenge of Joel's death.
    The only scene of the game that could bring back the flare of the first game, is the flashback where joel and Ellie went to the museum, which wasn't even written by Neil Druckman.

Woke Trash from beyond the Golf Club, ruined the previous game and attempted to tell a revenge story on the basis of "cycle of mean people never end." Core game play was relatively the same as the previous entry outside of flashier animations, the only exceptions are better stealth sections & difficulty settings customization. The story is an absolute mess, nobody in the WLF is interesting at all they all suck and have no brains (why tf send a pregnant lady out on the frontlines in the first place). All the stuff in between big parts of the game is extremely boring and not engaging. What made the first game so special was the interesting, funny and MEANINGFUL dialogue happening throughout the story. None of that exists and part of that is because, uh idk, prolly because you killed **** Joel in the first 2 hours of the game. We never get any of those moments between Joel & Ellie and never get to see their relationship evolve. I also have never felt a game try to shove a character down my throat to get me to like her with how they did with Abby.     3. Игра потеряла в динамике, левелдизайн отвратительный и может ввести в заблуждение только размером локаций. Выход, который 2/3 случаях сопряжен с QTE, просто потому что так захотели разработчики.
    4. Геймплей стал хуже. Годная новая механика только одна - переползания. Почему убрали различие в бутылке и кирпиче - не понятно. Кроме того, в зависимости от ситуации их нельзя сменить. Вообще одноразовый лут раскидан в стороне от арены. Двухкнопочная рукопашка просто смешна.
    5. Боты тупы, (проходил на самом высоком уровне, доступном из коробки потом открываются еще, но играть в это нет ни какого желания). Теряют из виду в упор. Боевка с зараженными стала не интересна, по причинам из следующего пункта.
    6. Сместился акцент с ближнего боя на дистанционный бой что сделало боевку посредственной. Очень много лута в игре, особенно огнестрела, который ни как не оправдан лором и сюжетом. Лут лежит тут потому что его положили здесь разработчики, а не потому что так могло бы быть в постапоке.
    7. Насыщение лора отвратительное. Записки пустые, так еще и написанные как под копирку. Собираемый материал ни как не обогащает сюжет, не раскрывает героев вообще непонятно зачем добавлен в игру в бешеном количестве - просто чтобы был.
    8. Во время игры постоянные флэш бэки к первой части игры. Просто взяли набор знаковых мест первой части, переиграли их в лор второй части и типа новый продукт. Постоянное ощущение что взяли первую часть и выкрутили все бегунки на БОЛЬШЕ, ТОЛЩЕ, СТРАШНЕЕ однако смотрится все это фальшиво.
    9. Игра не оправдано затянута. С сюжетной точки зрения смена стороны не вызвала сочувствия, а только недоумение от очередных ни чем неоправданных решений персонажей, и раздражения от ощущения смены шкурки героя, за которого играешь. Хотя Элли имеет имбанож и винтарь, аналогов которому у Эбби нет.
    10. Абсолютно не запомнилась музыка, ее там просто нет. Ни одной композиции не запомнилось. Ни каких ассоциаций не осталось.

I had no issue with the LGBQT+ characters in the game, I actually think it’s a great idea and wish there were more characters like this in games. But not even the great graphics and game play could save this game for me. The story was messy, poorly planned and executed. Fans of the original were spat on in an attempt to impress critics, when critics are not the ones who love the game and pour money into naught dogs pockets, fans who purchase the books, clothes and all other merchandise were attacked by the writers of Tlou 2 in pursuit of acclaim from people not apart of the wider fan base, I can’t stress that enough. Crowbarring Abbys narrative down our throats with out ultimately giving the player the choice to forgive or not, then forcing us to watch our beloved heroin who did not start the events that lead to her wanting revenge, broken and mutilated while Abby who is the instigator and murder rides off into the sunset with a friend and a new purpose. Saving a little trans boy (which I have not problem with and think the inclusion of is fantastic) does not excuse the fact that she murdered a man in cold blood with a golf club. We loved Joel nothing Abby does can change that and her story was always going to be total trash no matter what, she could of been a good character, but the ways she was included and written was doomed to fail. You don’t watch lord of the rings and cheer for the orcs, did they learn nothing from the game of thrones finale. Fans don’t want the moral garbage they handed us in TLOU 2 we wanted to see the story of the characters we love not ransoms who come in at the last minute. I mean you only play as Abby for the second part of the game! We have already played played an entire Joel and half a game as Abby Joel did what he did for love Abby blind revenge and she herself admitted to murdering people in Boston I’m sure they had families too. The story was just frustrating and ultimately the characters we love we spat on. I was left with a bad taste in my mouth after playing this. That’s not how I felt playing the last of us 1, and it wasn’t what I expected from a sequel. They can call it artistic, but it doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t like it and I cannot recommend it. Large sections are just walking simulators, the stealth and gunplay gets repetitive quickly, and there is very little innovation from the first game. It is one of the only games I’ve played through where I can honestly say that I was bored for a majority of it. Pair this with a story that is predictable at its best moments and rage inducing at its worst. Joel was never a hero, but the choice that he made at the end of the first game, at least in my opinion, was the correct one. I feel insulted by this games repeated attempts to vilify Joel for his actions. Even if Ellie could die for a cure, that was not the fireflies’ choice to make, and he was acting to protect someone he loved. Even if Ellie wanted to sacrifice herself, without a guarantee of a cure, she would basically be committing suicide. Joel’s only fault was lying to Ellie about it, and he did that to protect her from the guilt. I don’t mind Joel dying, but saying that he deserved it is ridiculous. Abby’s actions, meanwhile, are completely unforgivable, and then the game spends hours trying to make you sympathize with her. She is irredeemable, but the game insists that she is redeemed by the end and deserves to live. The theme of revenge being bad is not innately awful, but it is most definitely played out and predictable, and this game has little else to offer. Honestly, the game would be vastly improved with only a few changes, which only makes its failures more infuriating. More than anything else, I hate that they ruined my memory of the first game. There did not need to be a sequel. If this was a standalone game, and not a sequel, I might have liked it better. My expectations would have been lower, at least. Truthfully, I would give this game a score of 4, the lowest score I would give any game I’ve ever finished, but I am giving it a 1, simply because of the number of people rating it highly to superficially raise the score. There may be some haters who are bigots, but that should not take away from genuine criticism. There are idiots on both sides.… Expand

The characters already had a strong backstory, so there wasn’t much need for massive character development. However, as grindy as a linear revenge story gets, the game is satisfying. Half way through, you’re introduced to Abby, Joel’s killer. This is when the sh** hits the fan. The writers force the player to play the bad guy and what’s worse, they try to force the player to relate to her.

    The first game was much more nuanced at doing this but that’s because the writing was actually good. In this garbage game, the writers tell you what’s right and what’s wrong. They also force you to play a shallow character and force you to try relate to her: she has friends, family, interests, oh my. You have to like this character, but not only that, the writers have the absolute gall and audacity to try turn you against Ellie and Joel. It just comes across as pretentious drivel. This is just another slap in the face to what's happening in sequels nowadays with continuous character assassinations to bolster shallow characters. For example, what's been happening in the newest ST and SW. Oh my gosh, it’s such a mess of a story. They tried to create a controversial story but it comes across as offensive. This is just bad story writing and changing characters like this ruins the whole experience for me.

    I'll explain what they did in detail. The first part of the game resolves around Ellie's revenge plot, as basic as it is. However, the second half is a redemption arc for the villain and to portray them as 1: justified in their actions and 2: real every day people. They fail horribly on every count with this. First, they try demonize Joel and his actions in the first game, specifically when he killed the Fireflies to save Ellie. They do this by portraying the surgeon, who was going to murder Ellie, as a loving father and by showing how Joel is such a horribly person because he wiped out humanity's one hope to fight of the virus. They fail this miserably because the first game was about the moral question, do the means justify the ends? Of course, they do not. This is what the whole first game is about and philosophically they don't either. If the means justify the ends, then anything goes. Joel was defending Ellie's right to live, because she was not given a choice. It was not a sacrifice, it was attempted murder. It might have been different if the Firelies asked if Ellie was willing to sacrifice her life, but they didn't. As an example, in a pathetic attempt to assassinate Joel character, Abby remembers her past: when she mentions she would have sacrificed herself. Yet, seems to ignore the fact that Ellie did not have a choice since they kept her unconscious.

    Since this attempted character assassination of Joel fails miserably, it's difficult to put the second part in perspective. What's worse, it's blatantly obvious how the writers keep trying to shove emotional scenes and backstories of Abby down the players throat from the very get go. The literal first 15 mins of Abby's playthrough is either characters directly or indrectly telling the player how good and likable she is.
    I bet if they could change the first game, they would. But, they can't. They cannot change how things turned out in the first game, oh boy but sure do they try. The last of us Part 2 just insults your intelligence and there is no nuance. The basic morality of TLOUP2 is revenge is bad... Mmmkay. Now go brutally kill people. Eh?

    I’m so shocked they did this and so offended. Please, if you have your own mind and enjoy stories that do not preach to you, then avoid at all costs. If you must play this, wait until it's super cheap. I loved the first game. I even played it just before playing this one, but be ready for a shock on the scale of TV series game of thrones the last few seasons.    … Expand

    Do you remember Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2? Last of Us II plays like Vol. 1, but face plants as it attempts to do the second half. Don’t get me wrong, they added and fixed sooo much from the first game, however, you (the player, not Ellie) are manipulated by the producers into something no one asked for. The game was great the literal first half, but the second half where you are forced to play as the antagonist whom you just spent 12 hours hating is the absolute worse. I didn’t sign up for a game where I have to play the antagonist/villain, cause that’s what she is a villain, and then face a bunch of heart pounding, saving the cat type moments, all so that I feel bad for her; that’s manipulation on a grande scale. I would have been happy just playing as Ellie for 28 hours straight, I don’t hate that they added a bunch of work characters, I liked that, but the ratio of crisis is more Abby heavy. Essentially, by the end you are not where you are suppose to be. It’s like if someone tried to describe game of thrones poorly, or try and make it the walking dead. The Last of Us II could have been a great game, they could have had the a motivation that didn’t piss off soooo many people, instead of doing what they did to Joel, Bobby, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, etc. I stopped playing half way through the second half for a month, I just couldn’t it was that disappointing. I powered through with the hope it would redeem itself, it did not. I wanted “Bloody Satisfaction” and I got a little of that with Nora, but I wanted more, I wanted a full fledge roaring rampage of revenge...instead it kinda fizzles our.     The graphics are amazing. The gameplay is fun. The story is complete dog **** I can't even rationalize how they came up with this narrative. I'm honestly shocked that Naughty Dog would release this game. I will never purchase another game that neil druckmann directs. That was more disappointing than any other game I've ever played.

The new title also claims to be a sequel to the well beloved first installment, but I have to disagree. This is not a sequel. This is a big fat middlefinger to the first game and everyone who loved it. Where the first game was about overcoming grief as a father and finally finding someone to love and care for again, therefore ultimately the relationship between Joel and Ellie, the second one takes all these wonderful things and completely throws them out the window to tell a tale we've all heard a hundred times if not more. Whoever these characters are supposed to be, they're not the protagonists of the former game. Not the characters we were all so excited to meet again after waiting 7 years for it. These are just empty vessels, puppets pulled by Neil Druckmann, who completely ran this game into the wall blinded by his "incredible revenge story "vision. I had to force myself to play through I'd say 60% of the sequences in this game. There were some slivers of greatness but they were drowned out by the overall dulling down of the character's senses (people who were rather smart both logically and emotionally before, act like highschool teenagers in classic 80s horror movies now), the absolutely confusing derivation of the many many timelines, the reasoning behind the writer's decision making is very hard to follow. My understanding is the wanted to tell a very profound revenge story. But they way they went at this, I would not call this a story at all and certainly not a worthy successor to the first Last Of Us. I had high hopes for this, I ignored the leaks and ducked the spoilers thinking "Only douchebags would leak and spoil like that.." and now after having to force myself to play through the epilogue I realized, someone wanted to warn us of this absolute pile of garbage that is being marketed as a masterpiece. Unfortunately, the mechanics in this game are actually a slight downgrade. Close combat is this formula: Square. L1. Square. L1. Square. L1. Repeat this ad nauseum on the hardest difficulty to win every engagement. The shooting mechanics were never that strong to begin with in the first game, and the fact they're ever so slightly clunkier in a newer game is more damaging than it would have been if this was the first entry in the series. You are supposed to IMPROVE, not regress. Collecting equipment is ultimately a waste of time, as the final encounter is just the aforementioned garbage melee combat mechanics, and your resources are reset each time you switch characters... which brings me to the REAL problem I have with this game.

    THE STORY.
    Holy bajeezus. The plot is all over the place. This game has no understanding of narrative cohesion. The idea of proper character setups and plot arc payoffs are utterly alien to whoever the writers on this game were. This is not Naughty Dog's first narrative abortion, the first being Uncharted 4, but this is by far on a level beyond anything I've yet to encounter in a major AAA title since Mass Effect 3's hot garbage of a plot. The deaths of numerous characters is not even remotely my problem, because if so, I would never have fallen in love with Game of Thrones. Instead, it's about the narrative cohesion: There isn't any. You leap from one narrative to an entirely different one midway through. The hamfisted efforts the plot makes from then out to get you to like a bunch of people you've already put in the ground and its blatant desire to get you to feel bad for them is ruined by the plot's structure. If the events had been re-ordered, maybe it would've worked... but it doesn't.
    But worse than that? It's the CONTRIVANCES. Every...single...major...plot point...is born from an absurdly convenient contrivance. Events transpire in the most laughably coincidental ways to get the writers' story to go the way they want it, and none of it comes from any organic story-telling. It's garbage. Hot f**king garbage. It is a mangled abortion of a script and Neil Druckmann should be ashamed of himself for directing such a schizophrenic mess of a story. And when the entire purpose of the game is to put forward a story over every other element, including gameplay? Well then you get judged based on your story, and this one S U C K S.    … Expand

I am willing to bet that 9 times out of 10, you will agree with my user review. If you want play-ability and good story telling then I would recommend either getting Ghost of Tsushima . Please note that I am just a stranger who has been playing many games since the early 80s and has nothing to gain by being dishonest. I have never reviewed anything before but felt passionately about this specific one, as I could not sit back any longer and allow the makers of this game lie to everyone anymore. It was like root canal work without anaesthetic; I couldn't bail until it was finished, but hated 90% of the experience. The only good thing about it was that it's over, I've done it, the pain will go away. I'm not a masochist, I didn't need to act through this double guilt trip. The characters made dumb, selfish decisions that not only seemed unrealistic for them especially, but for any drama generally. A "revenge movie" couldn't get away with this crap. ND did achieve one thing; set a bottom line for how evil anti-heroes can get. Other games give players the *option* to maim and kill, like Mass Effect, Metro:Exodus and others. It even adds to the replayability. When the player is forced to butcher fully-developed NPCs (even a freaking dog!) in a way that goes against ones own grain, and that of the character - that's gonna leave a mark. So in the future, if I want to spend my free time feeling miserable about stupid, bad things I did because the game gave no other options, I'll just look for Last of Us 3.… Expand

In part 2 secon character is from the a55 taken, boring and flat. The second part is stretched and naive ... about the bandage put on the sleeve of the jacket, not to mention.     I just signed up to write this.
    The Only good thing in this Game is Graphic.
    It is the worst game of Naughtydog studio.
    They have Destroyed the franchise ;It s like what Konami did to Metal Gear Solid.
    the Story is terrible and they were lying about story since introduction.
    I am deeply disappointed at Naughtydog.
    there is not even one strong character in story.how can this take 7 years ?

    Utter trash, hour six and had enough. I loved one so much and feel kind of betrayed with the story, I did loose a bit of cash trading it in but I don't care, felt guilty that some other poor soul may purchase it after I traded it in.

I wanted to play as Joel, this game is just a lesbian girl trying to have sex with a peragnent mate and killing every body in the game except the one that deserved, the story makes you play as the f**king Abby for 10 f**king hours, can you imagine playing as the Joel's killer for a whole damn day, this is like having dinner with the person your girlfriend betrayed you with. hey naughty dog thanks for killing joel in the most stupid way that you could, and dear sony lets kill kraytos in the next game and play az his killer… Expand

    The 1 is only for the graphics. Story and characters are garbage and i bet druckman didn't even play the first game. 7 years waiting for **** I already sold my disc. BUT I AM NOT AGAINST LGBT

    Absolutely ruined and destroyed everything the first game was about. Even aside from the awful narrative, the pacing, character choices, and overall delivery were some of the worst in any game this decade. I cannot express to you, reader, how much I hate this game. And I will never forgive Naughty Dog for what they’ve done. +1 for good graphics.

    Bad game with beautiful graphics, poor progression decisions have no impact on history and are useless. I am obliged to follow the predefined story. Depressing, disappointing, money thrown away.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
