    The soundtrack and the graphics are very good, the gameplay is the same as the first game, generic and repetitive, and the story is the point that killed the game, simply a shame in relation to the first game that has the perfect story.

    This game was really disappointing in so many ways that the max 5000 letters would'nt even begin to describe it. Nothing felt genuine. The 1 point was only because the graphics were good, but the story didnt feel genuine. This was my favorite game of all time, but after this disappointment - i guess i'll have to find a new one now.

    But this game, oh boy.
    I absolutely loved first game, it was one of best games I ever played. And I played a lot.
    And second is also fantastic but only from technical aspect. Graphics, gameplay, weapons, physics are fantastic.
    But story is such crap I can't believe it. It's nothing more then advancing LGBT agenda. They used one of the most popular games to promote LGBT, transgender characters etc. It seems like it was written by bunch of male haters. Killing Joel, common? One of the most loved characters ever?
    But ok, I could live with that but then game forced you to play with person who killed him. For half of the game!? WTF? I was really disgusted with that concept. And in the end, when you finally have chance to kill that disgusting character game writers are letting her go?! Really?! **** really!? They even don't leave choice in killing her or let her go, just one, disappointing end.
    I have advice for all who loved first game, when you come to part where Abby comes to theater save your progress manually. And then leave Ellie to kill Abby over and over again. It was most enjoyable moment in whole game. You can finish it later but trust me, save that spot. The game wouldn't end the way you like it.
    This LGBT trend started long ago with movies and series but they leaved games out of it.
    Unfortunately, now they go to game turfs also. It started with that Uncharted expansion The lost legacy, that was so, so, but in this game it's clear what they wanted. Male heroes gone and introducing female characters and LGBT agenda. Nothing more.
    Disgusting trend.
    I would think again when I would buy another Naughty dog game again.

    Worst game I've ever played in my life. If you weren't a fan of this game or haven't played the first , you'd enjoy it a bit more, but would still hate the game due to its objectively terrible story and barely upgraded new combat mechanics.

Which is the first disappointment in this game, because it doesnā€™t offer an online mode. Game play is tough. The sway in your weapons is ridiculous, even with the upgrades. Most of the time I had to run to the next point because I kept dying and never had enough bullets. Any point you have to get past enemies is extremely tough, making the game almost unenjoyable to play. The plot of the story is dumb and there is no closure in the end, youā€™re left with a cliffhanger basically. Which leaves room for a third game (doubtful to happen) or DLC which hopefully will happen because I am so disappointed with the ending. What I loved about the first one is the heartfelt moments and thereā€™s none of that in this one. Itā€™s all about revenge.
    Also, the first game was straightforward and this one is kind of all over the place. One example being it make you play some flashbacks that you really could have done without, or could have easily been a cutscene instead. It really makes me sad because Iā€™ve been looking forward to this since the first one and Iā€™m just disappointed. Donā€™t waste your money on buying it, watch someone on YouTube play it instead.    … Expand

The story is poorly wrote and it's filled with nonsense or useless plot twists that demands an endless killing that doesn't get you anywhere. Ellie's lesbian relationship adds nothing to the game's story, they surely could make it better. The game has such an emotional/sexual/violence appeal just to categorize it as Mature +17 and these events could be easily removed from the story and wouldn't change anything at all...

Equal situation would be, if Doom Guy would get killed and you would have to play rest of the game as Demon who killed him and at the end Demon gets away and they wanna brainwash you into thinking that Demon was actually good guy. I feel absolutely nothing towards this series anymore, this second part completely ruined my interest in first part, forever. Because now first part is completely pointless, whole adventure in first part is no pointless.     Last of Us Part 2 is worst AAA video game of last 10 years. I rather play Marvel's Avengers than Last of Us Part 2. I rather play Mass Effect Andromeda than Last of Us Part 2. I rather play Fallout 76 (and i hate that game) than Last of Us Part 2. I basically play anything that was trash, rather than Last of Us Part 2, because Last of Us Part 2 is absolute lowest of the low trash.

Joe would never reveal him name to strangers get that whatā€™s happened in part two and thatā€™s what got him killed and the games tries to make Ellie the antagonist and tries to make Abby the protagonist and it shows, ran into game breaking bugs that have been here since launch that never got fixed

The way they deliver the death of a beloved character early on is just fking retarded and then they try to get u to like the person that killed that character by getting her to pet a dog. Ultimately it makes no sense why it won 2020 game of the year award out of context.     Im so dissapointed... this game is nothing but a bad joke. The Story was so terrible that for me it doesnt matter how good the graphics or the game play was. Sadly this Franchise is death for me. Its almost bad as the last season of games of thrones.

The game has outstanding graphics, and the gameplay is good, pretty much the same as the first, but they added a dodge button and modified the jump and crouch button, so gameplay and graphics are great. However, the story? It was a disaster, it's as if the writers had no idea where to go with the story when writing it. Not only are the decisions that the characters make in the game stupid, but the whole plot itself is just dumb. A basic summary of it is that Joel is killed by some buff lady with a golf club named Abby, right after he saves her from being eaten by runners. You then spend half the game playing as Ellie to hunt down Abby and everyone else involved in Joel's death. Ellie has pretty much killed all of Abby's friends halfway in the game, then by sheer luck, Abby finds Ellie using a map that "Ellie" left behind after killing 2 of Abby's friends. Abby then kills Ellie's friend Jessie, then we're left on a cliffhanger as the screen goes to black. We now play half the game as Abby, we are forced to play 10 hours as her and empathize with her, which is incredibly difficult considering how psychopathic she is, then she hunts down Ellie and we're at the part where the cliffhanger left off at. Abby shoots Tommy, and beats Ellie to a pulp, but spares her for some reason. A year later, Ellie is living at a farmhouse, and Tommy, who has lost an eye, comes by with a lead on Abby. Ellie refuses at first, but changes her mind last minute and decides to pursue Abby in the middle of the night. She finds out Abby is being held prisoner by some bandits, so she kills over dozens of bandits just to get to Abby, and finds her tied up to a post. She cuts her free, instead of killing Abby on the spot, then makes a last minute decision to try and kill Abby again, but spares her, because of a 2 second flashback of Joel sitting on his porch. You would think that if anything, the flashback would motivate her, but it didn't, it somehow convinced her that killing Abby wasn't worth it, and "revenge is bad".

    The game started off bad by rushing Joel's death and killing him off in a crappy way, then it got even worse when we were forced to play 10 straight hours as Abby. Playing half the game as her was completely pointless, and I felt no progress with her section, it just felt like a chore to do. Also, just when you think Abby (Joel's killer) is finally about to die (which is what the whole game was leading up to), she gets spared, because a 2 second flashback of Joel sitting on his porch is enough to convince Ellie that revenge is bad, like really? You couldn't have realized that when you were killing dozens of people just to get to Abby. It's just ridiculous. Oh, and you want to know what started this all? The only reason that Joel died is because he killed some random NPC surgeon at the end of the first game. Yeah, that nameless NPC surgeon that you can kill in 5 seconds is all of a sudden a major character, and that random surgeon just happened to be Abby's father. That is just very lazy writing.

    After playing tlou2, it makes me realize that a sequel was completely unnecessary, and that the first game was better off the way it ended. The game is supposed to be a story driven game, but the story is horrendous, the dialogue can be outright cringy at times, and the characters in this game are nothing like the first game. Ellie keeps walking back and forth on decisions, and also ends up making some stupid decisions, and Joel and Tommy were just outright stupid. In the first game, Joel and Tommy were paranoid and cautious, but in the second, they're not cautious at all. They go unarmed into a room full of a dozen armed strangers, and they tell these strangers their names and where they live. When I realized that they left their weapons behind in the room next door, I wondered if they left their brains in the other room too, because that's the only explanation as to how they could be so stupid. If you loved the first game like I did, then I beg you, please, please, don't play the second game at all, the game is just boring and depressing. It feels like the story at times is just being dragged on and on and will never end, and it leaves you feeling no satisfaction by the end of the game.    … Expand

    The game has a terrible plot and disgusting characters.Game journalists lie and cut corners, do not believe them in the future, forget about pre-orders of AAA games, look at the released game and only then think about buying.

They kill Joel so ellie has a reason pursue Abby and kill all her friends. By the time you get to her you get this "life lesson" on how revenge isn't what you should be going for so you don't kill her. So let's just forget that you literally killed like all of her friends let alone your friends were also killed trying to help you peruse abby. Like I get the "life lesson" and all but they are in a completely different world where everything is **** up. I don't think our world and theirs is at all the same. And don't even get me started on the Joel death... yeah I get that his story is "over" but don't forget that he's the one who we've been with since the beginning and started it all. The story of the last of us was the growing relationship between Joe and Ellie and how Joel was coping with the loss of his daughter. Like they definitely could have built up on that story especially with the way they ended the first one. I was hoping for the last of 2 to be like Ellie finds out the truth, hates Joel for it, Ellie then tries to kill or hurt Joel, they have some sort of fight and you have to choose a side ya know. Idk I just hate how they added this random abby **** to come in and kill Joel cause Joel killed her random npc dad who wasn't even relevant in the first one. The only reason why this game even gets a 1 is because the graphics are absolutely amazing and I really enjoyed the gameplay.… Expand

    Last of Us 2 is an overhyped game by the mainstream stream media. This game is one of the worst games of all time. Graphics are weird, odd glitches, boring gameplay and story that is badly written. Huge let down.

    I really wanted to like this game, but:
    I'm such disappointed. De-Installed the game, right after IT happened.

    There are also too many main characters, which feels a bit confusing.
    In the first part, there are "Ellie and Joel against the world". This was really good. But now..

    It has also quite similarities to the story and feeling of "the walking dead".
    First against zombies and the infection in general (good), then just against another (brutal) group and one of your favourite person died (not so good).

    I'm sorry, but in Germany we would say:

It's entire purpose is to do what it's not supposed to and it's so irritating. I get what they were going for, and they did it well, but they needed to ask themselves "should we do this" and the answer is "NO". The very first line of text from Ellies mouth is "it was just a kiss" talking about a lesbian relationship. Instead of actual survival, it seems the entire purpose of this game is to virtue signal and shove political viewpoints down people's throats in the form of entertainment. None of the story actually makes sense. Characters die in the most ridiculous ways. It plays like an updated last of us, but the ending has to be the absolute worst ending of any game I've ever played. It leaves you angry. It doesn't leave you satisfied.

    The ending to this game... The entire story... It has to be the most forced and awful writing I have EVER witnessed... And it's such a shame because artistically, this game is probably one of the most jaw dropping and engaging games I've ever played... But when a cutscene is what makes you quit the game, not a bug or bs difficulty... But just sheer annoyance with the story... There's a MAJOR problem.     I didn't like it, and not only for the ideological propaganda it contains ... it's a shame that developers treat gamers like kids who can be brainwashed with ideological injections by the way.
    I really doubt those 78,621 upvotes are real gamers, this game (gameplay / story / innovation) is average at best.

    The reason I am giving this game even a speck of appreciation is because of the museum part of the game with Joel and Ellie. That is literally the only good part of the game. The rest of this game was Trash.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I managed to avoid spoilers but I went in to this game knowing that it wasn't received well. I generally like to make my own mind up about games as liking them can be subjective, but man do I wish I had listened. This should have ended with TLOU. There really isn't much to say about this game that hasn't already been said but I'll do it anyway because I need to vent. The graphics are stunning and the music is pretty good, but not good enough to save this game. I went into this with an open mind as someone who enjoyed the first game and was hoping that part 2 would be more of the same. Joel's death did bother me and made me sad but not enough to prevent me from potentially enjoying the game and I had absolutely no issue with the LGBTQ inclusion in the story. What ruined this for me was the story's continual progression down hill and hitting its absolutely low point by forcing the player to play as Abby. A majority of the game is spent with Abby instead of Ellie, which is probably my number 1 issue with this game. We are supposed to empathize with Abby but by the end of this I had gone from disliking her to completely hating her. If anything, by the end of the story I felt that she had brought everything on herself and deserved her misery. She is evil, cruel, unsympathetic, and shows absolutely no remorse for any of the terrible things she has done. There is absolutely nothing likable about her character and playing as her was just a cringeworthy waste of time. I actually let her die a few times just because I was so sick at what the game was forcing you into. We spend more time with her than we do with Ellie and in the end, Abby comes out on top and Ellie loses everything. Congrats on letting the bad guy get away with everything Naughty Dog. Not to mention that you spend more time watching this than actually playing it. It was one cut scene/walk & listen right after another. It was more of an interactive movie than an actual game. I finished purely for the sake of finishing it, but it was a grueling task and I was glad when it was over. I would definitely never play it again or recommend it to anyone.… Expand

From my perspective it nearly never matters how a game looks as long as the story got you convinced. There are lots of tiny independent games out there in the App Store that look awful, but know how to tell a story.

    This game in comparison is a well polished great looking movie spectacle - with a hollow story and empty characters. The revenge plot from both protagonists is a thing we have seen way to often and as the player have no possibility to change the course of the game itā€™s just a virtual movie where you are allowed to push some buttons while your actions will have no influence on the outcome of the game. Itā€™s a boring one-dimensional game where you learn nothing about yourself, play characters who in case of Ellie act totally strange compared to part 1 or in case of Abby donā€™t get you hooked up with.

    The side plots the game is offering didnā€™t get enough time to develop and in the end didnā€™t matter at all. Who cares if one group used some people as slaves or that another group tortured their enemies in some prison cells - if you have no chance to make a difference or at least interact in different ways with these presented incidents it doesnā€™t matter at all? Why not give us different decisions, different outcomes or at least different ways to the ending? Why not give us - the player - more time to get accustomed to the different side characters? Can someone name the friends of Abby you will all kill as Ellie? Can someone honestly say he cared about one character in this game besides Ellie and (of course) Joel?

    And if you try to make a game that is tough, bleak and cruel like you think the real world could turn out in case of a pandemic - why are you so careful when it come to racism or sexism, making the whole thing you try to sell us as a possible apocalypse scenario totally unrealistic. In my opinion thatā€™s the main reason while players like myself who could see past the killing of Joel and try to give this game a chance couldnā€™t get bought into it - the game tries to be realistic in his surroundings and violence while on the other hand is afraid to make any mistake with todayā€™s social and ethical beliefs - especially regarding minority rights. These are two totally different sides who wonā€™t fit into one scenario - you either make a realistic game until the bitter end or you sugarcoat it right from the start. But as the broken world is so realistic and polished in this game, these discrepancies are more obvious if the game wasnā€™t so perfect in its visuals.

    The game left me sorrowful at the end - because of the potential it had with part one from 2014 and the strange decisions the developers did for this second part. If there wouldnā€™t be a first part and this game would have stand as a single game, maybe most gamers wouldnā€™t be so harsh. This was a missed opportunity to make something special and it was wasted for two identical revenge plots where two girls in a broken world where only driven by the motivation to avenge someone. And for 20 hours of gameplay - thatā€™s not enough to be interesting till the end.    … Expand

    The only redeemable moment in the game was in a flash back with joel, at the museum. This is not a game I wanted to rate so low, the story is a kick to the face of all tlou fans, and made me hate over 80% of the game. If they had not made me play as the murderer then it would have felt better, and the end is the last **** you of a now hated series imo.

Each character was touched by the drama. Drama-beginning, drama-pregnant-women (2), drama-kid, drama-flashbacks, drama-love-triangle, drama-ending, even drama-dogs and drama-zebras ... yes, the first part also had drama, but there was at least some balance.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
