    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Going into TLOU2, I knew that the story was supposed to be about revenge. They made it very, very clear that Ellie was going to endure an incredible loss at the hands of a new enemy, and that the entire plot of the game would be based around her desire for retribution. ND also spoke a lot about how revenge affects those around you, how it can turn into a cycle, they wanted you to feel sympathy for those you were hurting, etc etc.

    I watched Abby bash Joel's head in with a golf club, and I thought there was no way I would buy into that narrative for a single moment, because this random character that we've known for ten minutes killed one of my favorite characters in one of the most brutal ways possible. I wanted her dead. I wanted revenge just as much as Ellie did. I was ready to kill every NPC in my path.

    By the end of the game, this isn't what I wanted at all. In fact, I didn't know what I wanted. I just knew that I wanted all of them to stop hurting and finally get the peace they deserved.

    Without going into too much detail about Abby, I couldn't stand her at the beginning. I didn't want to play as her. I didn't want to "grow to like her". I wanted to find her and I wanted to strangle her for taking Joel away from us. And then they delved into her backstory, they forced us into her shoes, and I found myself breaking under that strain. For all that I had insisted I wouldn't find sympathy for her, I did.

    TLOU2 was, once again, a masterclass in storytelling, just as its predecessor was. It was thought provoking, gut wrenching, and so heartbreakingly melancholy at times I found myself crying at the happier moments more than the grief. I can't imagine it being written any other way, and I adore this game with all of my heart. They truly outdid themselves in subverting the tropes of a heavily saturated genre.    … Expand

    I am so stupid to believe the ads. The story is trying too hard to make you feel bad but don't give you a chance to let your anger out. Hope the people who actually like the game also forgive the people that hate this game, like the story suggests. Anyway, this is a story-driven game with a garbage story. Do not buy it.

As a fan of the first game I was very VERY excited to play this game until the leaks were released, ignoring the leaks I still decided to get this game and boy do I regret it, this game did everything possible to anger the fans of the original game to the point of disrespecting the original characters. Gameplay is pretty linear, in fact it feels more like if you're watching a movie not playing a game. The game is a bit buggy at certain areas, the story itself lacks effort, seems the writers weren't so creative on this one, new characters aren't that interesting and you can't attach to them as quickly as the first. I think this game was rushed and sadly they decided to to go with profit instead of quality. I know many people will disagree and claim that the negative toward this game it's the diversity and politics within the game but that's wrong many people are in fact criticizing the game because of its lacking story and the Disrespect towards the original characters. People accepted and loved Ellie when she was announced as an lgbtq+ character and people loved the sequels trailer and her relationship with dina this, this disappointment isnt because of that but it's because of how this story was written. Continuous plot holes, terrible decisions, and dumb characters make this game one of the biggest disappointment of the year in my opinion.The gameplay is what makes me not give it a terrible score. Taps into all your emotions and leaves you exhausted with the brutality which is human nature. Your best work yet @druckmann thank you for sharing your story.     Joel, a person who's been careful and paranoid as all hell for all these years just goes onto introduce himself to a bunch of strangers??? For all he knew they could have been a bunch of cannibals......

    And don't get me started on the shi*** ending, Ellie not killing Abby after all that she was forced to go through was the biggest kick in the balls any of us have ever experienced. This is exactly what happens when companies cater to the whims of the SJW retards.    … Expand

If it was then the term has gone down hill. Even my husband who I watched play the entire game said it was a 7 just because of the ending, but for me it’s just a zero. The game destroyed everything that the first set up. Deconstructing characters and forcing you to play the character who killed Joel. It’s horrible story structure. The game play cinematography is amazing but the game play gets boring and is just the same as the first. 7 years for the same game play and a story that makes no sense. Characters making decisions that in the real world in a situation like that makes no sense. Traveling to kill someone then let them get away after 100's of people killed. Not to mention nearly killing you and biting your fingers off. What is this story. Seriously. And why was armor only a thing at the end of the game. The WLF faction easily looks like they could have body armor but for some reason some loser gang would have all this armor but not a highly militarized group at war. Makes no sense to me. Just this game. It’s not a 10 maybe a 5 but shill critics needs to review honestly instead of reviewing to stay in favor and get review copies.

    One of the best games I've ever played. It has amazing graphics, great soundtrack and breathtaking environments, this games just feels so immersive that I can't even explain. Naughty Dog dealt everything that they promissed. Even if the history might not be what everyone expected, I wouldn't say that the writting deserves a zero. It does has it's problems, but It's at least enjoyable

If you really wanted to do a revenge storyline, why not have it be someone who was close to Marlene from the previous game?

People just focus on the parts they don’t like about the story and just say the game is trash. The level of realism in animations are perfect. Es como si te trataran de estúpido, cosa que evidentemente está mal, porque estamos hablando de el motivo del porqué estás jugando al TLOU2, porque seguramente vienes de jugar el 1 y quedaste con ganas de saber qué cresta ha pasado. ¿Era necesario hacerlo de esa manera? ¿Tan dificil fue hacer que no se sintiese forzado?

    Con el tema de la historia y las filtraciones, nuevamente fue un golpe en las pelotas. Sabíamos que Joel moriría pero... eso ocurre muy pronto!!! Es entonces el real propósito del juego? hacer que Ellie cobre venganza ante un personaje que la prensa NO QUISO Hablar o dar a conocer?? Y para rematar dicha venganza ni ocurre, Le perdona la vida a alguien que prácticamente fue su papá y el por qué la gente quería jugar al condenado juego.

    Estoy en Shock, por último haberse demorado un poquito más en dar la opción a lo tell tale games de decidir si "vive o muere" al menos, pero ya desperdiciaron la oportunidad y lo peor es que hay más que contar, pero se me hará largo la review y no quiero que sea mucho texto.

    Apartado gráfico: Bueno, nada que decir, queda por debajo a otras entregas pero los gráficos en mi opinión me importa poco, mientras que su jugabilidad sea bueno y entretenido. Está bien.

    Jugabilidad: Más de lo mismo, sigilo, muertes que pareciera que debes sentirte mal por matar a los humanos, que los infectados basicamente son un segundo plano nomás, acá lo importante es echarse a los humanos. Violencia siempre ha tenido este juego en todo caso, pero igual es muy lineal, en TLOU1 te motivaba ver por ejemplo qué cosas hacía ellie y lo que dice, lo que revisa, estar atento, pero acá no existe eso, exploración en un mundo lineal muy bajo.

    Música... bueh... en mi opinión no supera al 1 en este aspecto.

    En terminos generales incluso puedes sentir que es como si lo hubiesen desarrollado dos grupos distintos, es muy rara esa sensación y para los que lo hayan jugado se habrán dado cuenta.

    Si sumara todo los aspectos tanto positivos como negativos que he mencionado, debiera poner una nota 2 como mucho, pero dado a que la prensa vendida tuvo que mentirnos a nosotros, los que dimos dinero al comprar este juego para que nos dieran una especie de clases de moralidad, simplemente es una patada en el trasero con punta de acero y con púas, la muerte de Joel para los fans será horrible y su conclusión creerás que te están bromeando, pero no lo es, ya no decir que no sé si por temas de dinero por parte de sony hacia la prensa, omitieron información muy importante sobre el juego, cosa que duele porque al final no puedes confiar en quienes se suponen deben ser personas a quienes debes de confiar en su palabra. Ya no son confiables.

    Lamentablemente igual hacen reviewer bombing por parte de que existe una minoría que les molesta esto de los SJW pero son eso, poca gente, acá el tema es a cómo destruyeron una historia que bien podría haber sido una obra maestra.

Graphics are amazing, you can see little writing on fuel stations, actually read notes on whiteboards or posters. Gameplay wise the game runs fine, no game breaking glitches, afew good scares and panic moments; amazing story where I felt having the game show both sides to the story really helped show why each character did what they did. Honestly dont understand the hate or why people are hating this game, to me this can easily be GoTY. And for those those that have finished the game and didnt like it just think back to Joel's song "if I were to ever lose you I'd surely lose myself" and look at how she lost herself… Expand

Ive been looking at reviews lately specifically at the last of us 2 and its astounding to me how apparent it becomes after finishing the game that most people review bombing this game havent played the game or watched it. Dont get me wrong this game is flawed but just when I read other peoples reviews they fail to go into depth with what the game is flawed in, so Im here to do exactly that and review the positives as well. I will try and be as unbiased as possible but this is still my personal opinion.

    I would like to start off with talking about how the game looks. To me its one of the most gorgeous looking games out there and I personally think that its the most realistic looking one as well, at least for console games. Theres so many litte details everywhere things are placed in certain areas that really didnt need to be there but the devs went the extra mile with detail for this game. This gives the game a good amount of points although I do have some issues with the environment but that goes more into level design.

    Now lets talk about the level design and combat
    Sometimes I think its magnificent especialy early game! You have these great huge arenas to stealthily move around or to engage in huge firefigts with. The game wants you to get creative with the ways you take out enemies. Sometimes they'll plant infected in certain areas for you to lure them out. It gives you a ton of tools and lets you do what you please with them. Now for the combat there isnt much new to it besides being able to dodge and crawl but they expand on this to the best of their ability and its absolutely stellar for the most part. Now there are some areas of this game especially later on that begin to feel the same as all the others and with a 20+ hour game they start to run out of things to innovate on. I found myself growing tiresome of the combat later on in the game just because of how repetitive it became. This is an issue. Another issue that I ended up having with the level design of the game is that there can be to much fluff. The game begs you to go from one area to another and follow the characters all the way which can be great for putting you into the shoes of the character however this also adds certain segments of the game that could've just been cut entirely to make the game far less repetitive and more enjoyable. Another issue is that some areas can look climbable but in reality are not and can be largely misleading. Sometimes I felt the design didnt do a good job at guiding you where to go.

    Now lets talk about the infamous story mode Ill try not to get into to much spoiler territory but be warned for minor ones
    To me its deeply flawed but not for the same reasons people are saying. Ive noticed a lot of people saying that this game caters to much to the lgbt community and sjws because of the lesbianism and the fact that everyone thought Abby was a trans gender even though shes not. In reality this isnt even a proper critique of the game, I would say that if Abby was a trans and the game attempted to say that its ok to be trans and its ok to kill straight white men then yes it would be a proper critique but the game doesnt do any of this. There are 2 gay characters in the game and the game doesnt even have enough depth to explain why theyre gay! This is my biggest critique of the games story is that it lacks character depth. We see our characters find friends and families but at time the game seems to believe that the only way to develop a character is to make them somehow more charismatic when there not engaged with violence. It lacks a good amount of depth for most of the side characters. Even with Ellie its not clear as to why she latched on to her girlfriend and her ex. Now onto the actualy story and its themes. Something I actually liked about the game was its themes about revenge. Ive seen many people critique the themes for being to simplistic but does making themes of a game more complex really make the themes better? I think its how they choose to achieve these themes. I think the idea of making you kill certain characters and then putting you into the shoes of the friends of those said characters is an excellent way to cause guilt and empathy for these characters. Its very harsh and thats what I think a lot of people on here dislike about the game. They complain about the game being to sensitive and catering to the lgbt community and then complain about its insensitivity in killing a certain character. Its a bit hypocritical if you ask me. On to my next critique of the story. The lack of pacing that this game has can make it feel nauseating. I thought the game would end 3 hours earlier then it really did and at that point I was hoping for it. If theres one thing this game knows how to do its dragging. Now Im running low on characters but I didnt think that the story was god awful.     To begin with, i never had the chance to play the first part of The Last of Us. After viewing a few reviews shortly before release I went into the game with low expectations. In my honest opinion, a real shame as it really started of quite enjoyable, and unlike what some said I was even starting to build a connection to the characters.
    Naughty Dog if you read this, please look back at what you've developed and consider some changes for the better as right now there's a few things that I consider game ruining/breaking.

Killing off Joel early and forcing us to play the completely boring and bland character that killed him isn't enjoyable in any way. From there on the game had already lost me.

    Graphics and Frame rates were steady, smooth, and crisp, environments sought to emulate that of the real world and when violence is introduced the game becomes hyper real to an extent in the way way blood splatters and the visceral natures of the kills became hyper real. Although I did experience a glitch that distorted the face of a character halfway in the game, but I just had to restart my PS4 and haven't experienced any more probelms since.

    Gameplay can be challenging but nothing that is to difficult to over come, one thing the game has going for it, is that unlike in most games of this genre the A.I here (both enemy and allies) make smart decisions. Though sometime it does feel like enemies can spot the player even when not possible depending on the difficulty. Gun play and overall action is emersive and has kick and weight to it when you either shooting or stabbing.


    As for the story, it is not perfect and not everyone will enjoy it. I myself was not a fan until 5-6 Horus in I was able to realize the narrative and themes to be set forth (as mentioned above) It truly requires the player to use perspective in the matter, and to view the characters not as characters but as people, that are not to be simply classified as good or evil. Their choices will never be stagnant require thought to see into.

    Overall I spent 32 hours playing The last of us Part2, it was not a perfect experience nor truly great but very enjoyable non the less if the player is truly willing to put the work in, and not see the story from one particular view point but to use perspective. For me the game is on verge of a soft 8 and a hard 7, but ultimately lands on a 8, truly a game that blurs the line between a movie experience and a gaming experience.    … Expand

The death of one of the most loved characters Naughty Dog has produced was done in such a cheap way, pure disrespect to the players and to the character. You are also forced to spend 10 monotonous hours playing as the character who killed Joel, whilst ND try and make you feel emotion for her but instead, completely drag out the second half of the game and take away everything that people loved about the first game. Joel and Ellie’s relationship was what made the Last of Us a success, and this sequel completely shattered any possibility of it living up to its predecessor within the first 2 hours.     i hoped for a better game, i really liked the first tlou, the story was compelling and interesting, the characters were likable. but this game just doesn't feel like tlou it's slow there's 10h of nothing just fillers. the characters are bland, boring. i just hope they will learn from this mistake and won't mix politics and outside world in the game where we are trying to escape real life

    It is definitely a story that makes you think, and I personally liked it.

    The game is excellent in gameplay and graphics. Although the music left me a lot to be desired compared to the first game.

    The characterization /development of pc/npcs is just flat and plump, from Naughty Dog one can expect way better.

The story as most of us know is laughably bad, but there really is nothing funny about his joke of a game. Them killing Joel is one of the worst things I have ever had to sit through while playing a game.
    The game-play if you could really call it that is not nearly as interesting or varied as the first game, seriously a large portion of the game feels like a walking simulator. The sections that do have a good blend of stealth and combat come up short when compared to recent games with similar mechanics. The new characters they introduced are also terrible and horrible and uninteresting. And being forced to play as the character that killed Joel and to have the game try and make me feel sympathetic to them, honestly made me want to turn the game off and go throw up. I think the saddest part is there are a few parts in the game that are actually good and well written. I am referring to the flashback scenes with Ellie and Joel, all of a sudden it's like I am playing a real game again with characters I like and care about, but these parts are few and very far between. they only serve as a reminder of what the game could and should have been. I could go on but i don't want this to run on for too long. In conclusion do yourself a favor and do not buy this game, save your money for a game that deserves it. And if you bought the game and hate it even a fraction as much as i do, try and return it and get your money back or trade it for a game that is worth it. But apparently I have heard that some stores are not taking refunds so that's nice.

We are forced to play as the antagonist, who we don't syphitaze with. Abby ordered to kill a **** child for a grafitti. How are supposed to love this kind of person? And we should forget that we played as Joel and Ellie in the first game and just hate them huh? Neil Druckmann (and that **** Anita Sarkeesian) need to go. And Bruce Straley with Amy Henning need to be hired back asap. Otherwise this studio is done. Shame.… Expand

Then graphics are just the best i’ve ever seen, the reason i chose an 8/10 was because the player is forced to play as abby for like 10 hours and we have to hunt ellie. just feels like a generic drama story. naughty dog is obviously trying to make abby and lev the new joel and ellie which won’t work obviously.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
