This game is called Part 2 for a reason, a reason so obvious that we all blindly believe that the game will continue where the story left off in the first game. I’ve had a lot of imaginations of how the Part 2 may turn out to be, but boy, I’m not good at writing essays, I only get like flat pass for my english subject, but I can NEVER write something as bad as TLOU2. Remove the part 2 from the title, replace it with TLOU: The Journey of Abby or something that fits. The false advertisement with this game is so stupid that it’s not even funny at this point. First the trailer baiting us to believe that we at least get to play as Joel or have a short sequence to roam the world with him, which is exactly why I didn’t cancel my preorder, but ND lied and spits on my face.
    Then we have the misleading title. What’s next ND? Uncharted 4 Part 2 where we hunt down Nathan and smash him with a baseball bat? ND and The Last of Us part 2 can go straight to hell and rot there together. My brain refuse to believe that this is the sequel to a near masterpiece I’ve played years ago. At this point, I just hope Sony can listen to us the consumer/gamers opinion, just fire ND, I don’t care if it’s Naughty Dog or Neil Druckman that you’re going to take action against, take away their privileges for making video games in the future. I’d rather spend my $60 to buy 10 random game cd keys for $5 on eBay, still able to find a broken ass game with better story than this game that took 7 years to develope.

The graphics are amazing tho and it is one of the most technically impressive games ive ever seen and the performances by the different voice actors are top tier. Which is sad because they story is just terrible. Watching Joel die and then being forced to play as his killer for half the game ruined the experience for me and I cared very little about any of the characters that Abby interacted with during my time playing as her.… Expand

Ho atteso questo gioco per anni, ad ogni trailer ufficiale avevo la pelle d’oca, ho evitato spoiler, non mi interessavano i leak, volevo solo che arrivasse il 19 giugno per giocare finalmente al sequel del mio gioco preferito. Se dicessi che non sono deluso da come hanno gestito la storia mentirei, per me troppo forzata, un personaggio furbo come Joel, che nel primo TLOU non si sarebbe MAI fidato di una sconosciuta, non solo viene attirato in una trappola, ma sembra pure essersi completamente rimbambito da dire il suo nome. Io sono rimasto senza parole. In quel momento ho spento tutto e avevo intenzione di non avviarlo mai più, ma sapete cosa ho pensato? “ok, è successo quel che è successo, ma Ellie gliela farà pagare, avremo la nostra vendetta”. E così le ore passano, Ellie fa fuori gli amichetti di Abby e in lei viviamo tutto; viviamo la sua sofferenza nell’uccidere delle persone connesse ad Abby, ma che effettivamente non sono lei, vediamo il rimorso nel suo volto quando realizza di aver ucciso una donna incinta e poi? Mi forzate a giocare per più di dieci ore nei panni del killer? Mi fate vedere il flashback del papà morto? Mi costringete ad accarezzare i cani e a salvare dei ragazzini solo per farmi provare empatia? Mi dispiace, ma non ci siete riusciti. Durante quelle fasi di gameplay continuavo a pensare: “arriverà la vendetta, deve arrivare, deve”. Ma poi, quando finalmente sembra che tutto stia per concludersi, vengo privato anche del piacere di togliere la vita al personaggio che ha brutalmente ucciso Joel, ed Ellie, tornata nella fattoria dove aveva iniziato a costruire una vita con Dina, resta senza niente, sola e con il rimorso di non aver avuto la possibilità di perdonare Joel.     I was Looking forward to this game, but not being able to play as one of the original main characters really sucks. I don't understand the point of this game it's seems to only exist to make money off the last game and destroy all the good things that came in the original game.

Gameplay is alright, nothing very innovating and new compared to the first which isn't terrible because I didn't love the first one cause of the gameplay. I loved it because of the story and the emotional connection to the characters that the game gave me. The Last of Us Part 2 lost all sight of that. Killing Joel wouldn't be the worst thing for the story if he were to go out in a way that represented the amazing character that he was. But to kill him off in such the bland way that they did really took me out of the game. And for it to happen so early in the game was really disappointing not just because I liked Joel as a character, but because he added to the sorry in such vast ways. That's why they had to have in the rest of the game in flashbacks because they know he adds to the sorry. And some of the flashbacks were the best parts of the game because of this. And then to follow this with having to play as Abby. **** that, I'm getting mad just thinking about it again. The rest of the sorry is just a story of typical revenge and rage which I got through just so I could kill the terrible character that is Abby. And get this, after all that, you can't even kill her. You're forced to just let her go. What a crock of **** A videogame is supposed to be enjoyable at the end of the day. And the story for this game really ruined any enjoyability that I could possibly have with The Last of Us Part 2.… Expand

    7 years of hype and patience with absolutely no payoff. Gameplay has very little changes, most notably the "jump" mechanic. Graphics and music are stellar. Storyline is utter mess, it made me feel as if I made little to no impact while progressing.

    Worst 60$ purchase of my life.

Indignante como se deshacen de un personaje tan significativo como Joel, para que al final nos dejaran con un mal sabor de boca solo por querer llevar un mensaje de segunda que el chavo del ocho explico mejor en un episodio de 30 minutos y que alguien le enseñe a Neil Druckmann a como diseñar mujeres porque abby esta muy lejos de parecerlo una, y si ya sabemos que ellie es lesbiana pero en la primera parte solo se toco ese tema en un DLC

    Excelente jugabilidad y muy buenos gráficos Como fan de la parte 1 me siento muy decepcionado de como pueden arruinar este gran universo con un muy mal guión solo para complacer a las minorías, a mi parecer el nombre "the last of us" les quedo muy grande.

    Cookie cutter story, copy and paste combat. Beautiful graphics, and atmospheric settings. Nothing new in crafting. Without posting spoilers, I would strongly suggest you save your money for when the game goes kn sale.

My girlfriend while watching said you should hurry up and beat it so you can return it and get a real game. While the graphics are good the glitches and that trash story make it feel like the 7 year wait was a waste of time much like this entire game. I would suggest renting it if you want to experience for yourself but watching on Youtube might be better as to not flush your hard earned dollars down the drain.… Expand

The fans deserved better If you want us to keep buying your games. The only thing it does right is the graphics. There is so much wrong in this game where Joel dies and Ellie doesn't kill the person that technically killed her father. And that you play the killer of Joel trying to get us to feel bad for her and see her point of view. The story writers completely shot themselves in the foot with having her kill Joel and trying to force us to like her. Nobody will like Abby after they just seen her kill Joel, it doesn't work like that. Take notes from The Walking Dead about killing a beloved character, if you want to make a likeable bad guy, look up Negan.… Expand

    Honestly having played the first last of us game, it was such a fun and enticing game, with an amazing storyline. It was both fun and harrowing experience playing.

    But with this sequel, the only redeeming factor is the soundtrack and graphics. And that is all I can be amazed of, the gameplay hasn't changed much with a few tweaks and kinks being fixed from the first game, the characters aren't invested enough for me to be attached to and especially how the game just brush of the history of the first game for a cliche revenge story. Naughty dog definitely screwed up with this game, they could have delivered an amazing game even with just using Ellie as the only main character but no, they have to screw it up by bringing in a new character(Abby) which we the fans of the first game have no emotional value towards, so many flaws here and there, oh and I couldn't care less about using female characters, but at least make them likeable for us the players. The ending could also have been more impactful for us if it justified the death of Joel, it's hard seeing him die a dog's death with no reason.

    This game took 7 years for them to make, it could have been better especially that storyline. Fans are already accustomed to the dark tone and are ready for anything Naughty dog could have given them, but this is just a complete mess, the amount of dark tone in this game isn't even justifiable. Seriously disappointed as a long time fan of both Naughty dog and the TLOU franchise.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Truth is, Naughty Dog really couldn’t recapture what made the first game so flawless. They failed. Neil Druckmann cemented that. Bruce Straley really knew how to write and direct a story of emotion and compassion. You understand why Joel does what he does even if it seems morally wrong. You sympathize and understand the decisions he makes. Last of Us Part II completely abandons his character and what made him special in the first game. This title failed to capture who he was and instead leads him to do the opposite of his character, which is a punch in the gut itself. Graphics are stunning and the soundtrack is still superb. Those are the only good things this title has to offer. The mechanics are just fidgety and often annoying at times. Not to mention there’s NO MULTIPLAYER! So you have to rely on a well executed narrative like the previous entry, but instead fails miserably. Neil really should’ve looked at RDR2 and learned how character development works in a story and to respect a character in they’re end. RDR2 is a perfect example of respecting the predecessor while maintaining the original feel. Rockstar was able to overcome the hype and expectations with a graphically beautiful game, an outstanding soundtrack, great character development, and a perfect endgame. Joel deserved better. We as fans deserved better. Even the character development is terrible in this game. A lot of the deaths are mainly for shock value and it’s inconsistent in the story since flashbacks happen after the fact. So you as the player really feel no emotion or empathy towards any of these new characters on either side. Even when It’s love. It’s rushed and moves too fast. So it’s very cringe worthy to say the least. I can honestly say the best part about this game was the flashbacks with Ellie and Joel. Other than that, the story is hot trash. This franchise would’ve been better off ending with the first game. Better yet, just seeing Joel and Ellie grow in Jackson and watching life change would’ve been great in my opinion. Instead this game feels like a terrible written fan fiction that doesn’t respect anything from the first game. Not even the ending is satisfying. Revenge is bad. That’s the moral of the story. Which still contradicts itself because Abby gets revenge while Ellie doesn’t. Arthur Morgan said it best “Revenge Is A Fools Game”… Expand

Obviously, Part II is a big disappointment for every single gamer who experienced the amazement part I brought us. The graphic and the scenes had gone to another level, plus 5 to that.     This game is abysmally bad. It has one of the worst stories ever written in gaming and completely crippled and destroyed the amazing characters from the first game. Also, the marketing for this game was borderline false advertising. Definitely do not buy this game and if you've unfortunately bought it already, make sure to refund it.

As a fan of the original game, what made that game amazing was the chemistry between Joel and Ellie, who he took under his wing and basically taught her the essentials of survival in the world they lived in. Seeing him go from seeing her as a pest to loving her like his own daughter was the climax of that game. Last of Us 2 did a disservice to Joel and to Ellie. Sure, the story was decent, as it kind of reminded me of a movie sort of plot but it just doesn’t work. I don’t think anyone wanted to play as Abby, like she killed the main character of the first game! Were we supposed to feel sorry for Abby, and playing as her was supposed to justify her actions?? I felt it was a waste of time. In the end, Abby gets what she wants and Ellie is left alone without Joel, Dina and is left to wonder by herself. There is no closure for her and it was just a sad way to end the game after so much was put into Ellie and Joel in the first game. Just wow… Expand

    if a game really deserved the 95 that its getting, there wouldn't be such a unanimous reaction from pretty much everyone streaming this game on twitch. Like you can literally see everyone struggling to care enough about the game to continue playing to the end. Everyone is just tired.

They kill Joel off only 2 hours in then they brutally torture and beat Joel to death! I pre-ordered the game and when the leaks were coming out I was like nah not true boy I wrong! Guess what the woman who killed Joel guess what you play with her for 50% of the game acting like we would like her! I Finally got to the end then I was like yes kill her! Then she rememberers Joel then like oh no I don’t want to kill her. This whole plot of the game was a revenge plot but guess what you don’t get revenge and your whole family leaves you even worse you leave Joel’s gatar then walks away leaves it!     Not a good game. It might be serviceable if they reordered events. Gameplay is pretty sluggish and repetitive. I've never had a linear game seem so oppressively linear. Rather than trying to explore an area, i'd be pushed into the next with no way back. None of the new characters were likeable or remember able. if I could get my money and time back I would.

    After falling in love with Joel and Ellie in the first game, Part 2 introduces us to the unlikable, ugly, and outright evil Abby, who tortures and kills Joel in the beginning of the game. Then the game forces you to play as this unrealistically buff woman as the second protagonist.

    Perfect visuals and highly customizable difficulty and accessibility options of the game do not mitigate the horribly written story with no character development. Ellie and Joel act out of character, which makes this game feel like a stupid fan-fiction, created to convey woke political messages.

    Graphics: 10/10 (amazing graphics)

    Gameplay: 5/10 (nothing innovative. not so different from the first game. forces you to play as Abby.)

    Story: 0/10

    New characters: 1/10

    Overall: 1/10

    Do not spend 60$ on this crap. Rent it or wait for sale, if you're ready to endure the pain that is Abby.    … Expand

    This game had everything in the world going for it. A strong story continuation of the first game, a strong fanbase, and a renowned studio creating this game. The game took two steps and fell on it's own face. A complete spit in the eye for all fans of the first game, and a failure of a story that will truly go down in history. Along with things like GOT and starwars.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was introduced to The Last of Us after the remastered release on the PS4 and it changed my gaming preferences to this day. When I completed that game I knew it was amazing, and felt the same way about the creative team at Naughty Dog. From there I went into the Uncharted series, and again, each title was a home run right up until the recent end, which left everyone feeling great.

    Now I get the fact that TLOU is set in a much darker world, and that "happy endings" isn't what it is all about. As a big fan of The Walking Dead (which clearly Neil is as well based on how he stole from them) I get that sometimes, in order to keep it "real" we have to lose some of our favorites, however in this case it should have been Naughty Dogs team that had their heads on pikes for the decisions they came up with, that have alienated a huge part of their fan base.

    They can try to twist the facts to meet their narrative all they like, but at the end of the day they completely **** the bed with this one. SPOILER WARNING

    Killing Joel is essentially killing Daryl Dixon or Rick Grimes; you just don't do it. If you are going to, you had better do it right and for a reason that moves the story. When it comes to beloved characters like these, there has to be a level of respect shown as well. Naughty Dog did not do anything to justify Joel's death and at the end of the day it was more for shock value which, thanks to the spoilers, had none.

    There are so many moments in the game where it can't get out of its own way that it would take too line to list them all. One of the biggest though was when we are playing as Abby. We have to get to a hospital to get meds to save a patient and after an hour long mission, we are successful, only to see the patient killed off in the next scene. WTF?!?! Why did you waste my time with that STUPID time consuming journey for absolutely NOTHING? Now you can argue that she used her last gasp to save Abby but still and all, that was a huge waste of time.

    Not to be outdone, that leads us to the ending. Ellie, who for over 20 hours has been hunting Abby to avenge Joel, has Abby submerged under water, and as Abby is about to be drowned, Ellie lets her go instead. WHAT?!?!?!

    Naughty Dog had my blind faith and trust due to their past track record; that is all gone now. This abomination should have been aborted and I'm surprised the box doesn't have a rainbow flag on it. I couldn't care less about their being gay characters in the game, but the idea that you are trying to argue for LGBTQ equality in the post apocalypse, where murder is legal in the absence of law enforcement, is hilariously bad!

    This game is a perfect example of destroying a whole universe and your reputation. Let's cut to the chase.
    Joel's death, the way it happened. It's ok to kill a main character. But the way you do that and curcustances ARE important. That scene wasn't even horrible/shocking/whatever devs wanted to show us, it was pathetic. Why did you do that? Just to shock the audience? Well, killing a main character does not make you a great writer. To give Ellie motivation so story can go further? But the revenge didn't happen. So what's the point? Kick off the MAIN character at the very beginning like he is nothing. Like he is not even secondary character - devs represent him as tertiary character. Even secondary characters in video games (the first game, for example) have much more respect to them. I still can't believe this happened. The way you did that is such a disrespect to a character and story at all.
    Playing as Abby half of the game. Really? This game is ALL about Joel and Ellie, so why should player even play as her HALF of the time? No one even cares about her. Especially if this character beat a beloved character to death. And then, devs wanted us to sympathize her? It's pretty stupid.
    The ending. The ending is the worst I've ever seen in my life. Just imagine - Abby has beaten Joel to death. Ellie chased her down. To forgive her. Wow, how? What was the point? To prove revenge is bad? And now Ellie has nothing. I'm just speechless.
    Marketing. You showed the audience the scene with Joel in one of the trailers. And then you replace him with secondary character? Really? "Subvert expectations"?
    The hate about the game. Go to reddit/youtube/twitch if you want to know the real reason why all the people are upset about the game. The REAL reviews. Don't developers even see the REAL situation, the real failure? Such a spit to the original game. You wanted a strong woman? You had one in your own game - her name was Tess. Another one? Boom - Marlene. Now people hate feminism and anything related to it even more. Even LGBTQ+ community downvoted this game because of wrong representations. Everyone is losing with this game. Devs, players, LGBTQ+ community, females, males, black people, white - everyone.
    This game is called "The Last Of Us Part II", right? Then, it is supposed to be about the same characters, story, right? Because it has "Part II" it the title. But no. The only few things that have something in general with the first game are - title, flashbacks. That is all. It is not even close to the first one.
    The only reason why I don't put 0/10 is the graphics and the environment design. That is all. That is the only good thing that I can say about this game - "It just looks pretty". Anything else is just as bad as it could be and even worse. Oh, flashbacks are pretty good. I have never seen in my entire life such a disrespect, lazyness and luck of ideas. You must be either lazy or don't even care about your own game. Or both.

From the trailers, Joel was advertised to be in the game with Ellie. In reality, Joel dies within the first two hours of the game. The trailers replaced new characters with Joel. This made fans think they would be able to play as Joel and Ellie again throughout the game. That was a lie. This is classified as false advertisement. On top of this, the game makes the player play as Joel's murderer, Abby. When Joel was murdered, I did not want to play anymore. I started to play the next day in hopes that the story would get better. When the game forced me to play as Abby, I really did not want to play anymore. I eventually pushed through the story. The ending was horrible. For the entire game, Ellie is hunting down Joel's murderers. In the end, Ellie (the player) does not get to defeat Abby. instead, Ellie loses two of her fingers, and then lets Abby go. What a disappointing ending. Maybe this sequel was trying to have the heroes lose? Like in many other great sequels such as "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back?" If so, it did not work. Me and many others have waited since 2013 for a sequel to "The Last of Us." We have waited to play as Joel and Ellie together again. Joel dying during the beginning of the game ruined the story. It disappointed many fans. With that said, I thought the story was horrible.

    Now, what is the gameplay like? It's the same as the first. Not much difference. On top of that, I found the AI to be horrible. I decided to test the AI and stand on a box during a level. The AI had trouble climbing up to get to me. Once it did, it did not attack me. Eventually, I stepped off of the box and stood still. The AI walked up to me, and did not attack. Why? I was not playing on an easy mode either. I chose the second hardest mode to play on. That loses a chunk of points along with the story.

    Finally, the visuals. They're great. Looking at this game makes me feel like I am watching a movie. However, a lot of games have great graphics nowadays. I am giving this a one because of the graphics. The gameplay is not any different, so I do not see any reason to give it points for that. Finally, the story. The story should be it's biggest strength. It isn't though. The best part about the story is Ellie and her girlfriend Dina. I like seeing their chemistry together. That does not save what the story has done though. Overall, this game was a massive disappointment, and I regret buying it.    … Expand

    He (Joel) had A Thing that he didn't like people, He didn't trust people. So why would he go "I'm Joel" Like we lost that character. I think if Ellie would have walked in and say "Hey Joel who are your friends?" Or something like that, then maybe people would look at it differently. Like picture this.

    Ellie finds Joel and says "Hey... Who are your new friends Joel?" in a laughing tone. Then they same thing happened. Sept they Hold Ellie down... Then actually shoot Joel, Instead of torturing him. Then sure Ellie would have gotten revenge. (KINDA LIKE THE GAME) Sept the ending is different.

    She actually stabs, Abby (The most hated game character) Then Ellie would take care of the kid (for d.l.c if they did that) Then Ellie trains that kid to be better than Ellie, Ellie would train Lev to be better than Abby/Ellie. Sure the kid would see Abby dead (He'd wake up) But he would have Learned that's Life, BECAUSE After Ellie saw Joel die she learned. That's a part of life and You have to live with that. That would have been a better ending, that's just me tho. Then after that they work on a part 3. Pretty **** simple.    … Expand
