This has somehow undid everything the first game accomplished for a "Vengeance" path that's never realized. The point of the game is to make you upset and go through awful things with unlikable characters that are not even mentioned in the trailer. The game is misleading and outright disrespectful to fans and the characters we have come to love in the first game. And again the game force's you down a path that is never completed leaving the player and only remaining character asking the same question: Why ND?… Expand

    I think I've never been so disappointed in my life. Storyline feels like Niel Druckmann just came to my house and spited on my carpet. It hurts to give this game such an awful score, 'cause Naughty Dog did incredible job on visuals/details/gameplay. But story just ruined everything.

    P.S. Just in case - I don't have any problems with LGBT or strong female characters.

The story as most of us know thanks to the leaks is terrible, them killing Joel may be one of the worst things I have ever had to sit through while playing a video game. The game play when talking about the stealth and combat areas are a huge disapointment. Some of the new characters introduced are terrible and uninteresting. And being forced to play as the character that killed Joel and to have the game try to make me feel sympathetic to them, made me want to turn the game off and go throw up. I could go on but i dont want this to be too long. So in conclusion dont buy this game, save your money for something worth it, and if you bought the game and hate it even a fraction of what i do, try and return it and get your money back. Apparently some stores are not taking refunds so thats nice. TLDR Game bad, Naughty Dog bad, Dont… Expand

    Terrible story takes away from all enjoyment of the game. Gameplay is better than first but the story and characters are poor. No multiplayer either. Don't buy and I wouldn't recommend watching on youtube either. Only pick this up when/if multiplayer ever drops.

By doing so, you collapsed two of the greatest characters in video games and created a half-baked story that seems like it's only goal is to try and hurt the gamer, but hey, it looks nice and sounds cool so you get a 10/10. This was a story with none of what made the first game special, instead it simply tried to drive the plot forward with forced shock value, and in the end, I guess none of this pain we all endured even mattered.… Expand

Clearly, the director Neil Druckman wrote the story as both a way to spite the former Naughty dog writer Amy Henig, who was the writer for the Last of Us 1. Killing off a beloved character, self inserting himself into the story and having a full on sex scene with this new 'Abby' character is a big middle finger to fans of the franchise and to the previous writer. Most of the 'game' is linear storytelling with very little game play aside from 'go along this path to hear the characters talk.' Ontop of that, the plot is obviously pandering towards the LGBTQ movement at the cost of depth and character design. A character is not interesting merely because they are gay. As a gay man, I really wish that companies like this would act like their product is good merely because they feature something/someone LGBTQ related. To make this dumpster fire of a 'game' worse, there is a large segment of the game that forces you to play as Joel's murderer, Abby, and attempts to make you empathize with her. "Here, the character you loved is dead because we didn't like them, now play as this new character we added just for the sake of controversy and for our writer/director Neil Druckman to have sex with." God. Awful. It's easy to see who actually played this game and saw how awful the narrative is, and who was paid by Naughty Dog to give it a good review.… Expand

    Schlichtweg ALLES! Der erste Teil war und ist ein Meilenstein der Videospielgeschichte. Die Story, in der Joel seine Tochter verliert, mit Elli jedoch Ersatz findet und mit ihr all diese Abenteuer besteht und sie am Schluss aus Liebe rettet, ist einfach unfassbar gut gewesen. Ich war oft zu Tränen gerührt und habe den ersten Teil unendlich oft    Was habe ich am ersten Teil geliebt?

    Was ich gut fand:
    Grafik, Gameplay, Atmosphäre, Sound, Synchronisation sowie die vielen Zwischensequenzen, machen das Spiel zu einem echten Erlebnis!
    Was ich furchtbar finde:
    Story, Charaktere und Charakterentwicklung, Erzählweise und die völlig übertriebene Gewalt. Punkt 1: Die Lieblingsfigur zu Anfang zu töten war völlig krank Aber nein, er wurde nicht nur einfach getötet, er wurde in einer minutenlangen Gewaltorgie, regelrecht Hingerichtet. Mir standen die Tränen in den Augen und ich konnte fast nicht hinsehen... Ja, es sollte polarisieren. Ja, es sollte Hass schüren. Aber hier völlig unangebracht! Das war in etwa so, als hätte man eine Fortsetzung von dem Film Hatchiko gedreht, in der man von der absolut herzergreifenden Beziehung zu seinem Herrchen, von dem der ganze Film gelebt hat, völlig ablässt, den Hund bestialisch hinrichtet und den Zuschauer zwingt, für den Rest des Films, dem Mörder zuzuschauen. Da fehlen mir echt die Worte für... Was mich zum nächsten Punkt bringt... Punkt 2: Charaktere Was ist bloß aus Elli geworden? Das kleine, freche, lebenslustige, liebenswerte Mädchen, ist nun eine emotionslose, kaltblütige Killerin geworden, der es nur um Rache geht... Die Story könnte direkt aus einem Liam Neeson Film entsprungen sein mit dem Unterschied, dass Liam am Schluß zumindest immer seine Rache bekommt. Elli metzelt sich stundenlang fluchend durch endlose Gegnerhorden, um Abby dann am Schluß doch laufen zu lassen... Warum zum Teufel? Schwach, sehr schwach! Abby:
    Kurz gesagt: Ich habe jede Minute Spielzeit mit ihr gehasst. Ich habe sie sogar öfters absichtlich sterben lassen, um irgendwie Befriedigung zu bekommen. Ihre kurze Vorgeschichte und die Rückblende mit ihrem Vater, machen das nicht besser. Es ist einfach eine von unnötigem Hass und Rachegelüsten durchzogene Storyline, die dem ursprünglichen Geist des ersten Teils, völlig zuwider läuft. Rache ist sinnlos? Ach was, Naughty Dog, dass hättet ihr auch nebenbei dem Spieler beibringen können. Aber als tragendes Element für dieses Spiel, völliger Fehlschlag!

    Tommy:
    War Tommy im ersten Teil und zu Anfang des zweiten noch ein liebenswerter, Bodenständiger, logisch handelnder Kerl, mutiert er im letzten Kapitel ebenfalls zu einem, von Rachegelüsten getriebenen Choleriker, der völlig geisteskrank reagiert, als Elli ihm erst ausschlägt, Abby erneut zu suchen. Das widerspricht allem, was Tommy die ganze Zeit ausgemacht hat! Absolut allem. Völlig unlogisch.
    Fazit:
    Alles, was das erste Spiel für mich ausgemacht hat, habt ihr zerstört. Während ich den ersten Teil auch heute noch zum zigsten Mal gerne spiele, mir allein am Schluß mit Joel und Elli ewig die Giraffen vorm Krankenhaus anschauen kann, jede Minute genieße, hat der zweite Teil für mich einen Wiederspielwert von einer glatten Null! Die völlig übertriebene Gewalt tut ihr übriges. Ich habe nichts gegen Gewalt im Gegenteil, die Brutalität im ersten fand ich sehr gut und passte absolut zu der erbarmungslosen Dystopie des Spiels. Aber jetzt? Nach dem brutalen abmetzeln von unzähligen Menschen war ich am Schluß so abgestumpft und es war mir dermaßen gleichgültig, ob jetzt jemand lebt oder stirbt, dass es mir echt schon Angst gemacht hat. Ein Spiel lebt vor allem von der Geschichte. Das Entwicklerteam hat einen echt grandiosen Job gemacht, aber die Storywriter gehören auf der Stelle und ohne Diskussion entlassen! Ihr habt das Andenken des Vorgängers nicht nur mit Füßen getreten, ihr habt ihn erstochen, erschossen, zerhackt, verbrannt und noch auf die Asche gespuckt. Ich bin maßlos enttäuscht und wünschte, ihr hättet nie einen zweiten Teil gemacht. Bestes Beispiel, wie es richtig geht, war Uncharted 4 Lebendige, liebenswerte Charaktere mit Tiefgang, eine grandiose Story und ein absolut tolles Happy-End am Meer... Was will man mehr? Der Wahnsinn! Aber euer eigentliches Meisterwerk, euer Baby, habt ihr im Dreck verrecken lassen! Was soll dieses trostlose Ende? Elli kann keine Gitarre mehr spielen, was sie so sehr geliebt hat, lässt die Gitarre und somit auch Joel hinter sich, Dina hat sie verlassen und sie geht einsam in den Sonnenuntergang... The story as most of us know is laughably bad, but there really is nothing funny about his joke of a game. Them killing Joel is one of the worst things I have ever had to sit through while playing a game.
    The game-play if you could really call it that is not nearly as interesting or varied as the first game, seriously a large portion of the game feels like a walking simulator. The sections that do have a good blend of stealth and combat come up short when compared to recent games with similar mechanics. The new characters they introduced are also terrible and horrible and uninteresting. And being forced to play as the character that killed Joel and to have the game try and make me feel sympathetic to them, honestly made me want to turn the game off and go throw up. I think the saddest part is there are a few parts in the game that are actually good and well written. I am referring to the flashback scenes with Ellie and Joel, all of a sudden it's like I am playing a real game again with characters I like and care about, but these parts are few and very far between. they only serve as a reminder of what the game could and should have been. I could go on but i don't want this to run on for too long. In conclusion do yourself a favor and do not buy this game, save your money for a game that deserves it. And if you bought the game and hate it even a fraction as much as i do, try and return it and get your money back or trade it for a game that is worth it. But apparently I have heard that some stores are not taking refunds so that's nice.

    Остальное не выдерживает никакой критики....

    1) У Элли появилась девушка. Помню, как за неделю до выхода Логвинов и ещё некоторые обзорщики заверяли игроков, что лгбт в игре будет настолько немного, что игроки этого не заметят. Ну-ну. Да в игре на каждом углу натыкаешься на лгбт. Даже можно подслушать, как обычные NPC в разговорах обсуждают как круто быть лезбиянкой... 2) Феминизм. Это тренд последних лет, и игра ему строго следует. Здесь все завязано на женщинах. Мужчины нужны только для того чтобы ныть, жаловаться, да утешать главных героинь. Если убрать всех мужских персонажей (кроме Джоэла) - в игре ничего не поменяется. На мой взгляд единственный более менее харизматичный мужской персонаж - мальчик Лев. Только ему удалось показать, что он способен принимать решения и защищать тех, кто ему дорог. Остальные - пустые статисты, не вызывающие никаких эмоций.
    Отдельно хочу упомянуть вторую гг. Женщина - качок. В постапокалиптическом мире. Вы серьезно!? 3) Сюжет. В начале прохождения, когда убили Джоэла и стала понятна вся идея игры - месть, я представил что tlou2 будет схожа с assassin’s creed II - идеальным примером, какой должна быть месть. Но нет. Главная героиня убивает всех(и причастных, и непричастных), кроме той, за кем она проделала весь этот путь) это было бы забавно, если бы не было так грустно.
    И история Эбби выглядит как сова натянутая на глобус. У «лучшей убийцы шрамов» внезапно проснулись сострадание и совесть. Ага, очень убедительно. Прямо как конница на звездном разрушителе.
    История второй части на порядок хуже, чем история первой части! И привет Игромании и прочим изданиям, которые которые пытаются оправдать низкий рейтинг игры троллями, ботами, шпионами.... Нет! Все гораздо проще. Рейтинг такой, потому что игра - говнище! Люди недовольны из-за того что их ожидания не оправданы. Главный герой первой части слит, история первой части слита, нескончаемый поток социально-прогрессивной лгбтшной ерунды. Меня больше интересует как критики и журналисты оценивали игру. За что ее так расхваливают? Да они вообще играли?    … Expand

    Except for the graphics everything got worse. The story feels rushed and is filled with flashbacks which makes the story incoherent. The game also suffers from introducing forgettable characters. Overall a huge disappointment.

    Game is pretty, game play is awful. Camera in buildings fail horribly. Difficulty is ALL OVER the place. The story is just plain awful. They turned a beloved classic into nothing but typical media shock value movie with God awful small aggravating fights. Wont get into the story but know. Its absolutely awful.     First of, the only good thing in this game and the only reason I gave at least a 1, the graphics and gameplay. The environment props are great as well as the general models and textures. The gameplay is well implemented and the overall controls are good, but not that much of an improvement to Part 1.

    Now the things that make me rate this game low.

    Story:
    I have 2 big problems with the story and storytelling
    The story is kinda okay, but a huge disappointment if you expect anything like Part 1. Especially the immersion is really bad. Along with some questionable decisions, like killing the Main-Character of Part 1 with whom you played 90% of the time within the first 2 hours of a 25h+ game. Everybody knew he eventually would die, but not like this. I mean, come on, you can't just kill a fan favorite like this - every half-decent storywriter would do a better job. And no, flashbacks later in the game do not make it a less bad decision. Those almost do not matter to the player anymore because the character is already gone, so you should do it the other way around. Then you even have to play the character that has killed Joel for multiple hours, aw come on! And obviously the ending, in short: Ellie can't forgive Joel for saving her life, but she can forgive Abby for torturing and killing her father figure, shooting Tommy in the eye, killing Jesse and trying to kill Dina (her lover)? This is more than a questionable move and makes no sense at all!

    Game:
    No multiplayer! I liked the multiplayer and also the concept of the MP in Part 1 a lot, I played it at least 200h+ and had lots of fun and frustration. An improved MP, fixing and balancing some stuff of Part 1, would have been a great addition.

    Conclusion:
    Overall a technically okay game, nothing special.
    Graphics do not make a game like TLOU succeed, its the story - and the story here is written bad and does not give the player any sort of immersion.
    No multiplayer at all, disappointing. Especially with bad storytelling like this.
    Lot's of outside factors, all of them did not favor Naughty Dog or the TLOU at all. Rethink your PR.

    Plot aside this game did not earn anything. It felt forced and even though the last of us one was pretty much designed the same way it didn’t feel as controlled as this I think everyone should give it a try for their own reasons but I can’t rate this game any higher.

    Everyone is talking about how bad the story is (it is) but what I'm not hearing is how unnecessarily LONG & repetitive it is. I'm not complaining that it's long I like long games but with this, for me there's just no joy after clearing a level feeling like its done then having to do it ALL over again with a different background. It was non stop the same **** over, and over, and over, and over without any payoff. The first game gave us some kind of "hope" at the end of each level or chapter with the second I found myself wanting to quit because I didn't care at all about what was happening and who it was happening to. I hate this game. The only reason I played all the way though was to see how bad the ending would be, and it didn't disappoint.

    I didn't mind Joel dying, in fact I thought that would have to happen, I mean why else would Elle want to "kill them all"? They way they killed him makes zero sense, the fact the people that did it kept those Ellie & Tommy alive makes no sense. Crazy thing is that I was all fine and dandy to go along with it because I trust the people who made some of my fav games that they'd make this all make sense to me. Spoiler they don't.

    Its just awful playing this game when you know about 10 hours into just killing about 5000 one of three different ways that you still have 15-20 more hours of this ****.

    The graphics are amazing! But I don't play games because of great graphics. The Abby and Lev story was the best part of the game for me, The sky bridge part was freaking AWESOME to play in the game. Problem though I **** HATED ABBY! Thats not gonna change and didn't even after seeing her side of things. She kills a man we love with a golf club, enjoys killing "scabs", pushes away a man that lovers her only to have sex with him after he's with another women who's present with said guys kid, when she's going to kill Dana she finds out she's pregnant and with a knife to her says "good" with almost a smile on her face before Lev stops her. Why should I care about this person. Every time she died when I was playing I enjoyed it, I even let Ellie kill her 4 times in the theater.    … Expand

TLOU2 gets 1 point for graphics and score; it loses 9 points because this game absolutely craps all over the first game and its protagonists and force-feeds you a story and a character that you neither want nor care about. Its main point/theme is supposedly that "revenge is bad" and yet it fails miserably at making that point, given that:
    a) As Ellie, you kill hundreds of human beings in your quest for revenge against Abby for killing Joel, then suddenly Ellie decides to give up on that because she daydreams about Joel playing guitar (?!?!?). You literally kill with abandon to reach your goal, and then have nothing to show for it but the loss of two fingers, preventing Ellie from ever playing guitar again and leaving her alone, with nobody. So Ellie *doesn't* exact her revenge, and in the end, she still winds up alone and disabled.
    b) Abby successfully *does* get her revenge by killing Joel early in the game in front of Ellie, and ultimately suffers no real, lasting consequences from it. She basically "wins" and gets to sail off into the sunset.
    Seriously, this game is a big "FU" from Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog to the first game and all of the fans that loved the dynamic between Joel and Ellie. It's like a bad fanfiction from someone who hated the first game, come to life. The first TLOU is a masterpiece that is one of my favorite games ever made, and this game is, to put it frankly, a dumpster fire. I will never consider this game as canon.    … Expand

Joel didn't even trust his shadow and out of nowhere decides to save a stranger and let her take them to her shelter? it's like it wasn't joel), they kill their friends, they shoot him and blind in one eye practically his uncle, When we look for revenge they destroy us, And after we look for revenge again we let her go? not to mention we lose 2 fingers and the ability to play guitar, And if that wasn't enough, she abandons us and we end up alone, Losing everyone and we're left miserable. I know The Last of Us isn't a happy story, but please, is this a joke? The rest of the game obscures how little good this crap has. I doubt that Neil and the bunch of useless people who worked on it will see or care about our reviews considering the money he's making off of this crap. They turned a work of art and an incredible story that touched the hearts of millions of people into politically correct nonsense. If the companies keep this up, what's next?     From misleading advertisements, to poorly written story telling being chopped up and thrown together in a way thats atrociously confusing.
    The ONLY thing this game had going for them was the beautiful environments and thats why it will get a 1 instead of a zero

    they absolutely destroyed Ellies character, made a sad attempt at trying to make the player feel bad and out of control of their actions when really it was insanely frustrating

    I'm sorry, but what the hell did u do Naughty Dog? What hapenned with that amazing history you gave to us? This last was horrible and yes, jugability is good, landscapes and enemies, but the history is the difference. My heart broke up in a thousand pieces with this disappointing part. I am sorry.

    The gameplay has almost 0 change compared to its previous work, some of the setting has also decreased the excitement and intense of taking down an enemy, like the suppressor attached to various bows and weapons.     I hated the story. Honestly this is not what I expected from a Naughty Dog game they could have done a wonderful job but instead Neil Druckmann ruined the story. This game doesn’t even come close to the first one. If you are a The last of us fan don’t waste your money on this game, just pretend Part 2 never happened.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
