    There are flashbacks in the game, it seems people with talent got to write those parts and the rest of the game is written by Tommy Wiseau's cousin.

    Okay now here’s why I hate the game. The characters you like are quickly RIPPED away from you in a single swing. Joel is killed in a very disrespectful way, it is so important to get this right. And it falls flat.    … Expand

    Gameplay: it's okay, but becoming boring at the middle of game, most of passive abilities and weapons features are useless - 6 points.
    Story: Ellie company is okay, second part of the game I skipped on super easy mode, yea I get it, Abby is a human too. End of the game looks like fun fiction for teenage girls, stupid hollywood cliche

    Music, graphics, system... All of them is amazing except story.
    The writing of this game just ruined everything else.
    I wouldn't feel disgusting like this if players can choose endings or it just change the way to tell this story.

    Terrible writting and boring gameplay. The graphics are pretty good however the sell point of the game, the reason why people play it is terrible, that being the story of course. The characters feel out of character making stupid decisions just so the the **** narrative of the game can "work", wich it doesn't. The start and ending are both horrible as well. Most of us don't care that the lead is female, nor that she's gay. The reason is that the story, writing and dialogue is awful. As someone who played and loved the first game, I was left dumbfounded how the everyone from the first game felt so out of character. After their stupid decisions gets Joel killed, the story devolves into this bland revenge plot, with the moral being 'revenge is bad'. And the story is all this game has, as the gameplay is nearly unchanged from the original despite it being released a whole console generation later. If this game wasn't a sequel to this beloved game, I would give it a mediocre 5/10, which makes it sting even more: a continuation of one of the best tales in video games is just mediocre.     Actually the idea of the plot is not a bad one but it shouldnt have been portrayed like this AT ALL, also not with these characters either. Maybe they should have made another game with this plot in mind.

We loved the last of us so much because of Joel And the amazing relationship he had with Ellie. And they took that away from us. A badass caring father figure like Joel taken away so fast. They did not respect his character and did him dirty. Also the game seems quite slow. A lot of walking and more of a movie than a game so far.… Expand

    This is a game that focuses on history. It is not a game that focuses on gameplay like others. Here the only thing that is good is its gameplay and mechanics in addition to obviously the graphics. But the game has a poor history that pleases tweet "activists". So....basically,2020 killed another thing now,The last of us is definetly dead now,the beggining of the game is cool ok,then Joel dies because of a **** plot,that **** didnt even made sense,the problem here,isnt that Ellie is a lesbian or something like that nah,the problem is that things that happen in the game doesnt make sense,how does Tommy survive A HEADSHOT?? And Joel dies from a golf club,at least he could have died with some honor you know,he is one of the best playstation characters...and the ending....jesus....ellie lets abby live for i dont know what reason,she remembered joel....and then she blames joel he doomed humanity just like she does in the entire game....R.I.P The Last of Us… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is linear, with some maze like corridors, with cinematic “cutscenes” and some fights between that. Map structure is very basic: you get a corridor that leads to a maze that leads either to an empty room or a combat room. Object placement is retarded if there are combat elements. Monsters will spawn at predefined locations and attack you or the humans that are chasing you. And the rooms have no actual other entrances then you came and leave from. AI is invincible and has unlimited ammo. They are also doing much more damage and can shoot a lot faster. So if you’re in a fight you can literally wait for you companions to rush the enemy. Zombies are way too easy, some of them have more HP and another design, that’s it.
    Story is 40% Cut Scenes, 30% Maze, 20% Combat and 10% other stuff. Without spoiling too much, the story is very bad. They are living in a homosexual friendly utopian village, playing guitar, dancing, hearing loud music. All that in a post-apocalyptic world. They don’t care about zombies, only about anyone that hates homosexual individuals. You are fighting a religious cult about 80% of the actual gameplay game. 5-10% is mini games like playing a guitar in a cut scene. No real post-apocalyptic feeling. By the way, most of the story was written or at least suggested by a “strong-woman” social fighter.    … Expand

    by far the worst game I've ever played. I give this game 1/10 because of several things: making old characters, that every fan of the part I beyond recognition, false advertising, boring gameplay and new characters, that are not even close to characters from the original game. ND you need to APOLOGISE to the fans FOR THIS HUGE FAILURE.

    No spoilers here. Just wanted to say how disappointed I am in this game. I remember pre ordering the first game then rushing to GameStop to get my copy. Playing that game on my PS3 was definitely one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. After this game I don’t think I’ll be buying another ND game.

    While the gameplay and set pieces are great, the story really takes a downhill nosedive with unlikable characters, unquestionable plot choices and plot holes, a revenge plot that is so shallow, other games have done better. And the send-off is not worth the 40+ hour gameplay overall.

    I know the job of the writer is to make questions, not to answer them. But at a time like this, Neil could at least give us some kind of closure, not this hopeless piece of free desperation.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's **** It's a poorly-made teen novel. A cheap lesbian novel in a post apocalyptic with a poor script and characters developer in a world where one of the lesbians gets pregnant lol wtf.
    Where was the dystopian / apocalyptic plot of the previous one? The game is based on Ellie's personal relationship and Abby LOOOL THAT IS A **** NO ONE IS INTERESTED ABOUT ABBY'S PAST.
    Everything was perfect until the DLC. It is a very long game showing a rebellious teen **** lesbians and a Joel who is killed on the first 2 hours of the game, knowing that the same character in the previous game, when he meets Ellie with a **** knife, he almost killed her and did not even trust in her. WHILE HERE... YOU TRUST EASLY INTO A GANG OF STRANGERS AND THEY KILL JOEL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME LOL ahh ... but after all, the ending is a CRINGE masterpiece. If they changed the name of the game, maybe it would be a good game, because this is not the last of us. Life Is Strange for example, like so many, is A MASTERPIECE.

    I can even tell you that it is the worst game in history. It's ridiculous. And better not to mention the SJW, and the disgusting and ridiculous fan service. When a game has the overtones of "we are going to open your head by forcing political and sociable ideologies" it is automatically a score of 0/10. Whoever says it's a good game, can suck my balls bag, because this is not a good game at all. I would rate it 0.5/10 at most because the gameplay in the fights improved a bit.

    98% of people do not mind that there are homosexuals, trans in games in the middle of 2020, what ruins everything is that they want to force an ideology in vain only for a minority with the mere fact of selling it, ruining a story with a poor script/storyline. When people mix this kind of thing in art, it's crap, and worse when in the video game environment where the vast majority don't care if you're gay or not, if you're nobinary or asexual or the crap you are. We want to play and have a good time. until dlc is 10/10 the game. This part was not necessary if they presented it like this. The vast majority say that this **** would not even become canon of the BAD it is.

    If you think that people hate this game "unjustifiably "(for homosexuality) then you have **** floating in the skull. The day that people know to understand when a concept is exploited, sold to the masses and forced (ruining art), we going to progress as humans. Games are for distraction and fun, not for forcing and mixing them up with crappy politics. If you want to consume that, turn on the television.

    Before I go into detail as to why I rate the game so low I wanna say that I never played the first part and didn't know any of the characters previously, so that didn't have any effect on me. Still from all the characters I saw in the second part, I thought Tommy and Joel were the most appealing and interesting ones, so I was kind of disappointed when we didn't get to play with them, but ok.

    The other characters were ok, though and the story isn't entirely bad in my opinion. It makes a statement without anyone actually putting it into words. BUT I don't wanna play games like that. There's enough misery going on in the world, I don't need it to provoke thought in my free time, the time I need to get my mind off things. I watch the news every day, I am aware of the effects of revenge, escalations etc etc. I don't need to be lectured about that in a game. Doesn't mean there can't be any intelligent statements, no morals at all. But this game is like solely about that. It is depressing in many, many situations.
    Then there are some plot holes and illogical premisses...I don't wanna spoil, in case someone doesn't know the game yet, but you'll probably notice them yourself. In the end you might find yourself feeling like....wtf, it was all for nothing! At least that's how I felt... frustrated and downright sad and like I needed to lick my wounds. Throughout the games there were some uplifting moments, but they were very sparse and in no way adequate to make up for the rest.

    I forced myself to finish the game, though because I wanted to see everything before I judge it. I really had a hard time. The gameplay is mediocre and not appropriate for a game in 2020.
    The graphics are mostly very nice and there are beautiful landscapes. There was also a lot of weird glitching (horses, dogs, fighting scenes) and the 30 fps were a strain on my eyes. Sometimes had to stop playing because it gave me a headache.

    My verdict: The few good points don't make up for the rest. I feel like I should have watched the game on stream instead of buying it. In fact I regret spending that money. Next time naughty dogs releases a game I'll be sure to check it on stream or youtube first.    … Expand

Yeah nice graphics and enviroment, but also its not entertaining for the more than 20 hours of gameplay it takes. Also some of the NPCs are stupid as a rock. Shame

Obviously is not fun to play, actually most miserable game I've experienced ever. First off, I don't care about lgbtq, it doesn't matter to me, I absolutely don't care. What matters to me is how out of characters are in this game. How disrespectful it is to kill off Joel in the way they did. He deserved much better than this. Again, not disappointed of because he dies, it's how he died. Joel died without purpose, like a piece of garbage, like he meant nothing, by a new character who he saved multiple times before getting tortured by her. Abby, who brutally tortured and killed most beloved character in franchise, showing no remorse of taking her revenge was put in game to force players to sympathize with. FOR WHAT PURPOSE?? for what reason why we needed all of this, to care for her? It's disgusting having to play as Abby to cause even more pain for Ellie. So at this point, the game focuses on revenge. So how does Abby, who got her revenge get everything she wanted in the end, she suffers nothing from damage she caused to Ellie, she learned NOTHING. While a person who let go of revenge loses EVERYTHING.. and continue to suffer.. what is the message in that??? This story is a pile of dog ****… Expand

    The game is 10/10 in all aspects but the story.. which is truly disappointing since it's the main focus of the game! We get it. every person isn't purely bad or good and revenge is bad but it just feels very heavy handed and forced in. Honestly The flow of the narrative is not natural as the first game!

This game has a lot of good ( graphic arts, setting, characters, morality about violence, and much more) but SPOILERS - Abby, are you seriously?! This characters very stupid. Yes Joel killed her father, but a lot of time has passed, and Joel saved her life. Why didn’t she think for a second that maybe this is not such a bad person?! Maybe you should at least ask: Joel, b*tch! Why did you kill my father? Ok she killed him. And you seriously think that after that someone will want to play this character 40% of the whole game?! In the second act, I already had to force myself to play! And I think people like me a lot! And even after all this, I gave the game a chance because I love these characters (Ally). When the farm appeared, I already hoped that there would be such an ambiguous ending where Eli had to let Joel’s killer go for the benefit of those close to her, since violence only gives rise to more violence. But no ! And this was not enough for you, you ruined everything. As a result, Ellie still lets go of the enemy but loses two fingers, Dean and baby JJ. Where did she go? In Jackson, is Dina there, or where is she? I have many questions and no answers! Naughty dog, please, I beg you, listen to the players and draw the right conclusions! I do not think that if Joel and Ellie were together, as in the first part of the game, that it would be tired - no. On the contrary, it would remind my soul of even more warm emotions. The developers wanted to fill people with emotions, they did it, but these are not the emotions that I want. it was possible to write a plot without the death of the main characters.     This was one of the games I have been really waiting for, after part 1 was so awesome and the time that was spent on development and the overwhelmingly great critics, hyped me even more. I even managed to stay away from spoilers and videos themed around them to be able to really get into the story again and instead played part 1 again, but as it turned out that was a huge mistake.... After being amazed by the graphics, already at the beginning the conversations felt kinda odd and pretty quickly I realized why the user scores turned out to be so bad. While the depth of the first story made the game so awesome it felt like a punch in the face, what you made of it and even more so how shallow and forgettable it was throughout the whole game. so my opinion:

    pro:
    -amazing graphics
    -the soundtrack that always contributed to the atmosphere

    con:
    -shallow story
    -shallow characters
    -amateur like writing in the dialogues
    -plot holes
    - gameplay

    Why do I put gameplay in con? Its basically the same as in part one, so its OK but thanks to the pure trash that is the story line, gameplay feels more and more tiresome throughout the game because I lost hope it will turn better. And why only one point? The game isn't worth what you have to pay for it!
    In a time where even small unknown studios bring out real masterpieces and even awesome graphics are a thing that you can get in early access games for 20 bucks on steam I expect a lot more for 65€! If I just wanted a game with good graphics and soundtrack most "walking simulators" on steam would have given me more for less money    … Expand

I would love to know what, if any, changes were made to the story after the leaks came out. We know ND were scrambling to do..something. My guess would be altering the scenes which were deceptively used in the trailers as one area, but do you think they also adjusted parts of the initial story? Would love to know that answer.

    The inconsistencies with how the character of Joel reacted prior to his death has been discussed ad nausea-um and they would be critical errors in story writing, but the endless elements which seem to be 'spite' written as an FU to the fans lingers throughout. How many of these were added after the leaks? That's what I would love to know.

    It's hard to understand the trend in all areas of media and entertainment of 'punishing' fandoms from any business perspective. It seems as companies believe they will somehow convert people to their political agenda over time even if they have to sacrifice a franchise here and there. They are making huge mistakes if this is their thinking.

    No doubt, TLOU2 will initially make bank so we won't see the 'get woke, go broke' effect immediately. The reverberations across the board is where it will be felt and it will be crushing for the gaming industry as it was for the comics industry.

    Essentially, any story driven by agenda over plot stands out like neon green nose in insincerity and ends up doing far more harm to any political cause intended due to the resentment generated.    … Expand

    The storyline is utter trash. Being dark and violent doesn't make it a master piece IGN. I get that this could be somewhat subjective but something that isn't is the plot holes, characters act in stupid inconsistent ways or nothing like they did in the first game. Joel is now a complete moron.

    And yes if you have had enough of identity politics in your escapism then stay away from this.

    The gameplay is competent but hasn't moved on at all really from it's 7 year old predecessor. There are much fewer puzzles and they are even worse than the ones in the first.

    The graphics are amazing, though and i liked the environments. Some of the new enemies are cool to fight as well. Overall i wish i didn't avoid the spoilers and saved the money for cyberpunk or ghost of tsushima. My local games store ain't taking any more back now either cos they've had so many exchanged :(    … Expand

    31K people are in the right track. The graphics and gameplay are stunning, I'll consider this as Bad Ending for TLOU2. You should create another version which is have a good ending for both sides and of course Joel's alive.
