    Gameplay and the technical aspects of the game is alright. The story sucks. Unsatisfying. Distasteful. The story could've went many different directions, instead they want us to spend 5 hours with a character we dont give a **** about. Why? Because she has her "reasons". She has a story too. I dont give a ####.

    The gameplay is solid, but there's nothing new since the first one.
    HOWEVER. The story is so poorly written that none of that matters. They are trying to deliver the message that the violence is bad... like seriously?
    Ellie never stops making stupid decisions.
    Abby is not likable at all. How we are supposed to like her after that scene from the beginning? And we have to play HALF of the game as the girl who killed Joel with a Golfclub like a pig.
    "Oh, look, my dad used to save wild animals and now is dead and that's why I go crazy with golfclubs"

    And the end is pure garbage. GOT final type of garbage. All the game for no payoff. Both walk away with all their respective friends dead.    … Expand

    Stephen King is sometimes known to write excellent horror and mystery novels with bad or plain soft endings. Some TV series have been known to have won praise for its storytelling and realization, but with bad or sometimes silly endings, such as The Sopranos, HIMYM, Game of Thrones… Lately some Movies have been stained with the political agenda of Genre and LGBT propaganda...Toxic Feminism and useless political views. Examples abound.

    Now, it is the turn of what it could be the greatest videogame in its generation. But that isn.t accomplished on the second part of the story. The first one excels, but this second one...it is an absolute disrespect towards the 1st game.
    The story and the characters are so horribly written. The only thing that's truly great about this game are the graphics. And that's it. The quality of the story rivals the story of Star Wars VIII: The last jedi. And we are talking about a franchise-murderer movie.

    Incredible graphics, facial expressions and level design but let down by a rubbish story, poor character development and boring, repetitive game play. TLOU had a great story but terrible game play and this isn't much better unfortunately. What a disappointment. It was a real struggle to finish this game as it's very bloated. First off i want to say this, as terrible as it is that joel died very very early on in the story, i am not simply leaving a bad review on the game because of this. Some people complain about the abundance of resources but I never thought of this as an issue since a major part of the game takes place the area is riddled with enemies, and you are tasked xploring a city with an armed forced marching around and in another half on the side of the large armed force,therefore the abundance of reaources makes sense. The dialogue between all characters was well written, especially during the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie.… Expand

    After playing this filth for over 25 hours, staying up two days in a row to beat it and losing hours of sleep over it I feel its necessary to express myself. I am beyond disappointed, angry, sad, sick, etc. I feel betrayed. I am left wondering why and how naughty dog thought this was a good idea for a sequel. You spend half the game (12hr) playing as Ellie trying to hunt down the people that murder Joel just to get to the girl that actually killed him and loose the fight. However before the fight (that she Ellie lost), you are forced to see Abby's side of the story and play another 12 fu*king hours as the GIRL THAT MURDERED JOEL. After dragging myself through 12 hours of Abby gameplay and losing the fight we then return home as Ellie to give up for a "while". Then here we go again, she can't just stand giving up so we have to go all the way to fu*king California to find her AGAIN. Because apparently all the way to Seattle and back wasn't enough. 2 hours of gameplay later once we finally find her we had our final fight just to pus*y out of killing her. Because apparently after killing all her friends that helped her murder Joel and killing thousands of WLF members to get to the one person that LITERALLY bashed his brains in we needed to gain some compassion. So after Ellie returns home AGAIN, with nothing to show for her adventure other than two less fingers (Abby literally bit them off in our fight) but no by all means let her live.Then BOOM the game ends. Fu*k this game, fu*k the writers, fu*k everyone that said this game was good. They are all lying sacks of sh*t. Please for me, never EVER. Buy or play this game, just pretend it doesn't exist; for your own sake please.    … Expand

    I am so glad that this game only on PS4 which is I don't have. this game made me rethink my choice to buy ps4. or even ps5.

Definitely not comparable to the first last of us. It's just disappointing in so many ways, but mainly story and its characters. Characters are not likable or relatable. Since this is not a movie (although at times it feels like it due to the amount of cutscenes) it is harder to play an unlikable character that you just don't root for. All in all, it's just not worth the price or the time to play this game.… Expand

    I was so excited for this game. Waited 7 years for this game and was just utterly disappointed with how bad the game was. Don't even get the main characters anymore. Instead, we get forced to play as a character we have never heard of with no character development that makes sense.

That being said, everything about this game feels shoe horned in. The weed jokes and references throughout, the LGBT characters, the death of Joel and the forced perspective of the antagonist. In the first two hours of gameplay you find two bongs and a growhouse. The bongs are one of the only things you can pick up in the room and serve no purpose in the game. It just feels like a forced attempt at a joke that breaks the emersion.
    Ellie and her girlfriend make sense and I even enjoy their blossoming relationship. However the drawn out makeout session and the awkward sex scene were unnecessary and once again felt forced.
    Joel was a careful and strong survivor. . Yet he is willing to go to a house knowing multiple armed people will be there and that they will know the layout much better than him. This is foolhardy and it like everything else in this game feels like an unfleshed out plot point in an attempt to force the story.
    We as the player are supposed to feel for the antagonist and understand her decisions. Even empathise with her. The opposite becomes the fact. When you're playing her it feel foreign and cringy. She is not a likable person and she should be as on just the events she has a point.
    Lastly, I feel that the story was not well written as a whole. The moral argument can be made for both choices Joel could have made at the end of the first game. He may have sacrificed the entire human race to save one girl. He actively killed people in the process as well. He was not the shining knight he was a man who loved a little girl as his daughter. Tell that story, show that everything is not black and white and as fans we will back you. That doesn't show up here. This story was distracting and broken in a way that left the fans and gamers like myself feeling empty and unfulfilled.    … Expand

I don't know who thought it was a good idea to force you to spend half of the game playing as the character who killed Joel. Speaking of, it's seems the writers completely forgot how cautious of a person he was. They tried their best to make me feel sorry for a girl who's dad was going to kill a teenage girl without her consent. Did not work. Couldn't even finish the game, just looked up what happens.     Badly written. Waited so many years. Wanted this to get me through the end of quarantine and was so excited. The game is SO morally confusing. Just a game of revenge, not fun, not exciting. I was so bored playing it. Not what I expected at all. I give it 1 because the graphics were good. Feels like a Marvel movie. Great graphics, no substance at all. Very sad.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly wanted to give this game a chance. I played the first game and it was a 10/10 story game for me and the gameplay was around an 8/10. So overall the first game was a great experience.

    This second installment has been a complete 180 in terms of story. The game play is about the same. Only very minor things like prone, and dodging were added, while keeping the progression of game play completely linear.

    I'am sitting here with having completed half of the story and finally having to call it quits. I cannot take all the forced liberal undertones the game blatantly forces you to watch. There is long drawn out cut scenes that make you feel stupid after watching. The only good character was killed off within minutes of playing. Story is completely predictable and zero thought was given to make these characters have any depth rather than stereotypical revenge rage. Sad that a good story was put into a dumpster.    … Expand

    I've even had to buy the PS4 for this (played TLoU on PS3 when it just released) and...     A brutal, brutal, unpleasant game, that I gave up on after 8 hours or so.

    I was so much looking forward to travelling with Joel & Ellie again, and this was just nasty, metaphorically spitting on the corpse.

    I genuinely cannot believe I wasted my time on this game. To have such a masterpiece in TLOU 1 to be ruined by such horrible storytelling in this sequel is worse than my parents getting divorced as a child. Abby is the most UNLIKEABLE character... every time I had to play as her I wanted to turn off the game. Ellie and Joel deserved better. What a waste.

    Some things that the hitchhiker Druckmann    One can clearly see Druckmann's sentiments with Bruce Straley's creation, the beautifully written TLOU 1 and Joel/Ellie, that he despised the great universe he inherited. He took characters that provided hope and an interesting story only to twist it, by being needlessly violent and sadistic, in a pathetic and useless way, with his storytelling.

    Some things that the hitchhiker Druckmann did, thinking he was being clever. (After all his in-game trading card had him "Brain 100"):

    -Fabricating footage in the trailers, swapping character models, and claiming that Ellie is the only playable character(as well as his co-director Anthony Newman claiming you don't have to kill dogs but there's an unavoidable QTE) -> Failed.

    As Druckmann said in an interview "Protect the story" but a leaker foiled that disgusting, money-grubbing tactic of "wanting the cake and eating it too" i.e lying to the fans "Hey I made a game that honors the first one" in hopes of getting their money, whilst simultaneously pushing your own second-rate narrative and pandering messages. The leaker, in a heroic manner, saved many people from spending money on the sequel that does nothing but spit on them, yet Naughty Dog did their best "to save fans from spoilers" by DMCA striking every single YouTube/Reddit/Twitter account to prevent their False Advertising and sleazy marketing from being exposed prior to release.

    -Add 12 hours of gameplay from the perspective of an NPC's daughter/Joel's killer in hopes that the player realises Abby's humanity and empathises with her. Even went as far as to make it very difficult for Ellie not to kill every dog she encounters and have Abby pet and play with dogs with ease. Even went as far as to rewrite the incompetence, desperation, and barbarity of the Fireflies from the original TLOU 1 - in hopes of letting the player forget the voice notes/documents found showing how foolish the so-called vaccine plan was - to paint Joel as a selfish, cruel, man. -> Failed.

    Abby playthrough was, as a whole, a chore, a bore, and an uninspiring, unrealistically built, character. that not only had no qualms with killing her own people days after meeting the 2 seraphite exiled kids Lev/Yara, but had no qualms banging a man with a pregnant girlfriend. Such a poorly written, bottom of the barrel, character having half the game's playtime doesn't surprise me when an incompetent director is in charge of a large, heavily awaited, sequel. Druckmann flopped under pressure and succumbed to his inferiority.

    Anyways, the appreciation of this story solely relies on your ability to relate to an NPC's daughter avenging her father that wanted to murder an unconcious child, without her consent, for chances at a so-called vaccine, with a bunch of side characters that get got and a few meaningful ones.

    No one, one the score scale, is really arguing about the beauty/music/gameplay/graphics of this game as that's top-notch. Because those people did their due diligence in making sure their job is done properly. It seems the story director for this game Hitchhiker Druckmann, was caught up his own arse for so long, he forgot he had to come up with a decent script up until release.

    Remember folks, never trust trailers, or any promotional material from these game companies. Never trust, always verify. There won't always be a based leaker that saves you from the greatest sleazy scummy act, like Naughty Dog tried to pull, with regards to other wanna-bes    … Expand

The story is very bad..People feel sad not because of Joel's death but the whole game is forcing people accept the conception of forgiving. if it's a drama or a movie, it would be better, i am somebody watching the character making their decision. I may not agree but i accept that's their choice. but it's a game. I play the characters. I feel like i was made to do the killing I don't want and to forgive someone i don't want to. Ellie doesn't act like Ellie anymore, shes some cartoonish depiction of a dark, brooding, tumblr teen now, her love interest could be replaced with an overly flirtatious 2x4 and the plot wouldnt be affected at all, the leaks were right about Joel, and nothing about the story is redeeming of any of this. I dont know why this always happens, professional reviewers praise the game as the second coming of Jesus riding on a Buddha, while the fans take massive runny dumps all over it, but its gotta stop. Full disclosure, I made an account today for the sole purpose of reviewing this one game, not because I'm a troll or a bot, but because I feel legitimately guilty that some poor loser out there might have seen my defense of this dumpster fire in a forum or in a YouTube comment section and might have been persuaded to give the game a shot. Well I'm fixing that today. I'm going back and following up on all of my comments warning people to stay away from this garbage. There is no retribution for the sins I've committed, but maybe I can right that wrong just a little bit like this.
    The more intricate level designs, parkour, rope puzzles, and enemy additions in the form of dogs, and the Scars were kind of cool, I guess, and they do help get your mind of the trash plot for a moment or two, so it's not a straight 0, but TLoU wasn't well known and universally loved for its gameplay, it was loved for its relatable characters, realistic development, and compelling storytelling. Take that away and evidently your left with nothing but trash.
    Again, I feel legitimately embarrassed for defending this game. They should have just done a prequel about Joel, or Tess, or Marlene, or Tommy, or Bill, or literally anything else, Christ you've got a built in 20 year gap at the beginning of the first game! You should have let the audience decide what the future holds and explore the past that's already set in stone. The series should have chronologically ended with that last powerful moment.     Game play and story are what i look for in games i play. Graphics have never been something i look for but can be a nice edition. I loved Last Of Us story and multiplayer. Last Of Us 2 takes the first game and throws it in the garbage. The only thing this game has going for it, is that it looks great graphically. They look very similar to Ellie and Joel from the first game, but obviously they’re completely different characters. El problema es la ejecución de una historia buena, las mecánicas del juego sobre el personaje principal para controlar durante el gameplay y los mensajes políticamente correctos. En la mecánica no te avisan de qué va el juego exactamente en ningún momento (si es un juego de sobrevivencia, venganza, novela lésbica, creo que los zombies estaban de más en un juego que se supone se centra en zombies). El final debió ser igual de sádico a como empezó el juego.     However Naughty Dog has only gone and destroyed its legacy with this dumpster fire of a game. Don't get me wrong, this game has definitely lived up to the visuals and physics I was expecting of the second iteration of The Last of Us. Though these are important, the story of this new game is horrible. The fact they killed off one of gaming's favourite characters as if he was a side note or a character with no personality. Due to this, the game felt more like a lackluster cliché revenge flick. I am highly disappointed by this title. Naughty Dog messed up badly and they definitely need to fire the entire writing team for taking the outstanding concept of The Last of Us and turning it into nothing more than a psuedo-emotional wreck.    … Expand

Dejando ir a la causante de la ira de la protagonista...... ira por la cual asesinó a todo quien se le cruce en su camino de venganza. The problem is we didn’t order the crap the chef demands we eat with the entree. We only ordered the entree.     Honestly i can't believe what they did with this game, history is trash, characters who came out of nowhere and i'm supposed to feel bad for them? This game is a joke. Ending try to teach us a lesson but they did in the most lazy and stupid way, i just can't, this game isn't canon to me. Graphics aren't everything.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
