When everyone looked forward to this second installment, the press and critics expected one more game from the pile, while the fandom expected the best game ever. The consequence of this is that the expectations of these make them rise to settle for a perfect video game, which is why it is impossible to achieve, and at the time of arrival of the product, the same fandom due to high expectations that exceed, the product becomes the most hated. and throw trash without justification by putting it under bad video games as if it were the worst in history. When I play the last of us part 2 I see its visual and playable appeal being one of the best seen on a ps4 with a console whose life cycle is about to end and it is something extremely recognizable being a game with multiple options and fun, the story It is good but not as good as its predecessor and the fact that it is so does not mean that we will throw garbage at it. To be frank, the last of us part 2 is the best that has been seen in recent years whose history (not being the best) shows us how human he really is and how hatred and revenge can consume us faster than as an infected becomes a chubby and the real threat is not infected, but ourselves. The story is enjoyable but with dips and ups but frantic but with a slight abuse in cinematics, what I say is how it should be recognized or recorded but unfortunately the game community and the hype do not allow it to be, if you liked the story not Praise him as the best and if you don't like him, don't **** him until he is killed, but anyway, if there is one thing that leaves us as a moral, it is that the last of us part 2 is just one of many games ruined by the hype and the gaming community whose majority of these have not even played it and they spend watching the live shows and this does not make tlou fans look bad, but the entire gaming community as one of the most toxic communities. My final score for the last of us part 2 is 8/10: attractive visual and playable but with a good story but not as much as its predecessor. The game it self is fantastic and was worth the wait. Although i do wish they had gone a different route and made the whole game about Ellie and less about Abby and had a different ending it doesn't change the fact that the game was fantastic.… Expand

It's bad. I've seen people try to compare this to great movies like 'Schindler's List' (this disgusts me personally).     The gameplay is good. Oddly enough, they wanted the game to be about how violence and revenge is bad. But the gameplay where you commit this violence is one of the best things about the game.
    The graphics and world environment are awesome. Cannot stress this. It's really great.
    The actors themselves have done a great job. They do their very best to make the story great and I cannot fault them at all. Superb acting.
    Everything bad about this game, is the writing. If you wanted an incredible story like The Last Of Us, you won't find it here.
    I'm going to give this a 3/10. As I said above everything is great except the story. However, this game following the incredible story of the first one, that is what people expected, an incredible story, and didn't deliver at all. Just...amateur honestly.    … Expand

It's depressing what happens to Joel and Ellie. They deserved better. I guess this game is good for people who like movies with bad endings. The Gameplay is similar to the original and in no way has changed, revolutionized or done anything groundbreaking. The graphics are terrific as to be expected from this studio. The problem is in the story itself and the decisions that characters are made to enact upon. Joel's death was expected but the manner in which it occurred is what upsets many, the out of character decisions he makes that leads to this outcome. Then after that we are forced to play as one of the most unlikable characters in gaming history. It's not because of how she looks, it's because of how she acts. Ellie is also destroyed in the character development department. There seems to be absolutely no redeeming qualities left in her and the cycle of violence is a poor answer for that to happen. The end of course is a complete mess. There is no pay off. No real advancement of the previous story about infected and the world in general. Another issue is how it was presented in the media as a story about Joel and Ellie, it is a story about Abby and Ellie. The bait and switch tactic is terrible. Finally the false copyright strikes on YouTube and Twitter for people who talked about spoilers, they did not show any copyright material and only gave an opinion on what was leaked but they were crucified. I will always love the first game but this is a travesty.… Expand

    I wanted to like this game. When i saw the first trailer i was hoping for this game to be released. However, when i played this game, i was taken back how much of a disappointment this was to its predecessor. First, the game play resembles tlou style and although it changes some aspects of it, they still sort of tease us with different forms of game play.     What turned out to be one of the most awaited games disappointed greatly in terms of story. Writers chucked everything good about it just to make it "dark". Was just angry at half of the game. Gameplay and graphics are the only things that made it playable.

    I waited a third of my life for this game to come out. It has absolutely stunning scenery and characters, but the story is lacking beyond belief. I fail to see in the grand scheme of the game, how we as players that have come to love the characters of this game, are meant to feel something for a psychopath...     Los graficos, que decir de ellos, SUBLIMES, ESPECTACULARES, no tengo otra palabras para describirlos, Naughty Dog está tan cerca de la perfección
    La jugabilidad, no es algo que sea novedoso, pero lo mejora a niveles increibles, y eso es algo muy importante y se merece ser visto de buena manera
    La historia, simplemente bellisima, no hay palabras, como engancharnos a unos personajes, ver sus detalles, sus acciones y como afectan a la trama, es algo increible, como tambien podemos tomar una reflección de que hasta que punto nos llevará la venganza y cuando deberemos dejar ir o continuar.

    they're were cute moments in the game.
    but showing me something and leaving me out of context for nearly half the game was just annoying
    gameplay is good and slightly improved from the last.

    alot of moments where it can feel quite boring and repetitive. i didn't like the story and how it was explained all together.

I wish I could have a little bit more time playing with Abby and start liking her before she kills Joel. That would make a much bigger impact on me as a player and I wouldn't hate Abby as much as I did. I still love the time I had playing her caracter. Thr gameplay is perfect, not too far from the first onr with a couple of amelioration too make it spectacular. The graphics are amazing, especially the caracters designs. The journey was still great for me and I truly hope that one day I could revisit the world and the caracters of The Last of Us. The last thing that I found disturbing is the development of joel's personality. When you think about what he did during the forst game, all the traps and enemies he killed or escaped from,he sould have see Abby and her froup coming and not fall into her trap, like in the first game when the bandits wants to take is card by faking an injury. So long Joel and Ellie, I'll keep a good memories of those game and just hope to be abble to see more of that world someday in the future.… Expand

    The game is really a masterpiece once you finished it, you will only realize it once you FINISH it and FEEL the very end of the game. It made me realize that "Damn, every negative comments about this game is not true" when I finished it myself.

    Abby got what she deserves, there is no need for further bloodshed if you really are a good person.
    The fact that Ellie sees Joel in a flashback while she's killing Abby means that she CANNOT BRING JOEL BACK and that Ellie's had enough of deaths already, these bad user reviewers did not understand that part. I mean PETER PARKER in SPIDER-MAN 3 let Sandman go didn't he?
    What the **** all these people that they want to always kill almost everyone that's messed with them.
    Naughtydog simply tells you to be a real person in this game. Yes it is ****ed up for what happened to Joel but if Abby is the main protagonist on the first one, for sure you will be hunting Joel too, wouldn't you? All I can say is these negative user reviewers are just weak in the heart, they always want the protagonist to be invulnerable to deaths, well Ellie is the real protagonist since the first one.    … Expand

Much of the game is an improvement over the first one, such as combat, exploration, collectables and weapon customisation. The only thing I can fault about the game is the unnecessary sex scene towards the middle of the game but more importantly the story.
    The story for this game is a mess, the clear progression with fantastic relationships between joel and ellie is what made the first game great but in part two the story is all over the place. You play as both ellie and abby, the latter being the antagonist of the game - which is a huge mistake in my opinion as the developers try to force you to care about her even tho I personally just wanted to kill her. The sections where you play as abby are extremely boring and I rushed them to get them over with. To finish it off the ending is a massive disappointment and the definition of an anti climax. However the game is still enjoyable.    … Expand

Cada juego debe ser una experiencia propia, muchos lo critican viendo como lo jugaba alguien mas y repitiendo los mismos comentarios de siempre, es un juego que logra enganchar, un juego diferente, no tendremos los finales felices que todos esperábamos. Estamos en un mundo en el que Joel le quito la oportunidad al mundo de volver a empezar y de sanarse, eso no lo hace un héroe, pero el tenia sus motivos, así como muchas personas tenían razones para matarlo. Estamos en un mundo demasiado dañado, en el que cada uno busca su propia manera de sobrevivir, nadie es el bueno ni el malo, solo hacen necesario para proteger a los suyos, y desde otro punto de vista siempre fuimos los malos.
    Este juego es una experiencia única, tiene escenas muy sentimentales, y una narración ambiental brutal, hace el uso de flash de una manera espectacular en el que nos muestra la evolución de los personajes, y como ese Joel que vimos invencible en la primera parte se fue ablandando y volviendo mas humano, al punto de no querer arriesgarse con Ellie porque no la quería perder, sin embargo tiene demasiada carga encima. Al final es el propio jugador que debe hacer sus propias reflexiones frente a la historia.

The gameplay is the same as the first, except the cut down on the environment puzzles that broke up the action of the first game. Accuse the game of some kind of PROPAGANDA? This is very stupid. No one is telling you to become lesbian, gay, asexual, TRANS, or anything else. A story is being told, and this is one aspect. Attachment, emotions, feelings, Yes, there is such a range of emotions... And then they got hung up on it... A great society of people who can't even put aside those moments and delve into the very essence, the very plot and agenda.
    2. Joel and his death. It all, sooner or later, overtakes. How do people die? As the heroes? All die in different ways. Have you ever wondered how many people Ellie killed? In front of friends, family, and friends. And they all had similar emotions. Joel died as fate would have it. And this does not turn back, the game clearly and clearly shows us that sooner or later a person dies, no matter what: from old age or from a bullet in the forehead, or having been hit by a club on the head. This was a turning point for the plot and its further movement, a motive for revenge. Yes, there was no revenge, but we will talk about this later.

    The ending... Oh, this is also a very controversial moment for all the people who shouted simply: WHY didn't SHE KILL HER?! SHE KILLED JOEL! BURN HER AT THE STAKE! Either people only watched the final and didn't pass the game, or they just weren't paying attention. Ellie saw Lev and Abby. As soon as the boy was put down, they started a fight, where Ellie almost won. But she remembered Joel. And just think... Ellie killed Abby. Escaped. And soon the lion wakes up, seeing Abby's corpse. What will he do? Revenge. And so the chain will continue. Ellie realized this at the very end. Why these liters of spilled blood, what good is it? Such were the thoughts that passed through her mind. She had destroyed her happiness, and she could have continued to live in peace, forgetting about it after a while.

Every aspect of the game was beautiful, the fact that the person that you made hero from became someone else villain, and that actions have consequences. Moreover, through the game the tension and hate was all over the story and it was way outside of people's comfort zone by making you play against the character that you loved in first episode and make you to break that view and understand how they actually damage other people.
    This game is brutal with some beautiful moments. At the end also by giving the power of killing and revenge to Ellie and Abby(in cinema) and how they forgive the other person they tried to give good feeling about each character to the audience in the darkest way possible, which shows they can be monster and kill but they choose not to.
    Amazing job from Naughty dog for not following any cliche and focused on developing great story. PLAY THIS GAME WITH OPEN MIND IT GONNA TAKE YOU WAY OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE.    … Expand

Amazing graphics and decent game play, however it is similar to the first game, but personally I felt the story severely lacked and with it being a story based game, the scoring took of from it is much greater. I also feel that Joel had to die but I feel that the way it was executed did a disservice to his character despite his flaws which ruins the relationship us players built up about him from the first game by killing him off in such a painful and horrible way. Despite the message the game tries to convey about revenge, it also misses out on the point of justice as Abby got away with all the terrible crimes she committed herself. Fundamentally killing a beloved character off in vein will never make something successful unless it is executed properly. For example, Joel could of died saving Ellie and Abby could of seen this as justice to her own pain but also forgiveness as she sees the man she hunted do something selfless which conveys both a message in revenge is wrong but to also forgive people when the try to do the right thing which in turn shows development in Abby's character as she changes her ideal of revenge. But instead of this we saw her commit evil actions which makes us hate her even more when we play as her.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to give the game an 8.5 and since the game is getting review bombed, I'll give it a 9 to represent that I truly believe this is a (relatively) great game.

    This game follows the SPIRIT of the original and I think that runs through every aspect of it. Having played the original a multitude of times on all difficulties and to pursue 100% completion on both ps3 and ps4, I can say I am familiar with the original and what I am comparing to in 2.

    Pros:
    I'm gonna say this now: the story is better in its own ways, in my opinion (will share some gripes/observations later). I believe if you were to read this as a standalone novel or watch as a standalone movie, especially with different characters, the story is compelling, often well-paced, and a bold step to take for the series.

    The combat is improved in many ways. You have more options to deal with many encounters, albeit encounters seem to be bigger, so you still have to play smart and manage resources, at least on the harder difficulties.

    New struggles to deal with within encounters. New enemy types primarily, yet also some (subtle) changes to how known enemies react, particularly in recognizing fallen companions. On this note (which I think is the best part) many enemies, when they see a companion fall will call out a unique name. Subtle improvement, but very powerful. It also ties into the main story's themes.

    Cons:
    The story spends maybe more time than is necessary on a particular character. While I enjoy the overall gameplay mechanic and MOST of the time I appreciated what the intent was and felt the impact, I got to a point where I just wanted to move on, that the point was made.

    Additionally on the story, I had hoped the game would end two chapters earlier. It didn't and the final two chapters were frustrating to have to go through... at first. I think there was a solid (albeit bleak) payoff that ALMOST made the epilogue, so to speak, worth it.

    Other thoughts:
    Per pacing, it moves MUCH slower than the original. The opening is bombastic to set the stage and remind players of the stakes and then it SLOWS considerably. I did not mind this slower more methodical story-telling, and I really think it lends to the overall atmosphere and beauty of the game. But take from that what you will.

    LIGHT SPOILERS (although apparently everyone but me read the "leaks" and decided the game is bad before they played it): This game is not about two people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. This game is ABOUT that post-apocalyptic world and what it does to people. The first game's brilliance is in how it used it's setting and journey to redeem an old man who lost a daughter and show her growing into an adult despite willing to sacrifice herself. The side characters were special (for their time) albeit a tad under-developed. They helped the team and lent to poignant moments, but they were not really important.

    In TLoUP2, the message is about how everyone is dealing with the same issues, that everyone has people who they care about and that ANYONE can do terrible things if brought to it. Joel's redemption arc in the original was not about making him a good guy, it was about him finding something to fight for again. And audiences (me included) loved it. Yet in the end he slaughtered hundreds of people trying to find a cure for millions just to save Ellie. TLoUP2 is about the consequences and the never-ending cycle of revenge, and the costs.

    I'm just gonna include it here, both because I know many hate the topic, and also because I am a cis, white, hetero man and can only comment as such, but representation, of all kinds, is pretty spot on here, I believe. In my playthrough of the original leading up to release, I noticed that NONE of the AI characters were female presenting except infected. Just weird. The NPC enemy generator in TLoUP2 has EVERY combination of male/female and skin tone and that's a pretty cool detail. Also in regards to representation: I mean Ellie has definitely been gay since the first game (all but confirmed in the DLC). Additionally, the trans "story-line" isn't even a main plotline... it's just the reason why an important character is where they are when they're there. And if it were a main plotline... I guess this wouldn't be the game for you if it bothers you so much.

    All-in-all, a powerful and solid game to follow-up the original. Is it as good? I'm still processing that myself. But I highly recommend you find out for yourself, because, at the very least, I believe you could have a wonderful time, just like I did.    … Expand

Following the leak, people of the Internet rose up to call out The last of us 2 for having a agenda. The introduction of Abby made those people lose their mind and the game was boycotted. (Fun fact: Abby is not trans like those people thought, she's just swole as hell and I love it!). Being a fan of the first game, I think it was only fair to give Naughty dog a chance and try out the game before judging. Not only was there no "agenda", the leak mislead people to think it was a way bigger deal than it is. Now the game is very similar to the first one, it plays almost the same and I don't think it is a revolution of gaming. As for the story, it is a pretty standard vengeance story. It even worried me while playing that it would be all it had to offer. I was wrong. I won't say too much as this game as it should be played the most blind possible.

    If this whole drama surrounding the leaks taught me anything, It's that you should make your own mind about games. Play it for yourself, or if you are reluctant, watch a play-through. I can say without hesitation that if the leaks didn't happen, this game would have the same user score as the critics. If you were a fan of the first one, the second opus is for you.    … Expand

My girlfriend while watching said you should hurry up and beat it so you can return it and get a real game. While the graphics are good the glitches and that trash story make it feel like the 7 year wait was a waste of time much like this entire game. The scene cuts and flashbacks have no order and only hurts the player experience and adds confusion which is never resolved. If you enjoyed the first last of us game then be warned, the devs really made it their mission in this game to tear down everything we loved and enjoyed from the predecessor in hopes to "subvert expectations" but it backfired and is arguably worse Game of Thrones' 8th season. The narrative choices feel forced in a bad way, extremely edgy, genuinely confusing, and downright nonsensical at times. The major problem I have with this game is that the plot lines go nowhere and it doesn't even leave you on an ominous note. It feels as if you played and finished the game for nothing, since nothing is actually achieved. Gameplay wise, there's no standout generational improvements from the ps3 era and enemy mob entities are reused multiple times throughout the game; it feels like you're fighting the same 10 zombies and humans. The enemy AI is also terrible, you'll have no trouble getting through the game's most difficult areas which there are very few of since the enemies are unable to detect you behind the smallest of covers. Only positive I could think of is the voice acting and even that gets tiring since the majority of this game is just cutscenes and dialogue while walking from one point to another without any significant gameplay events occuring. 1/10 because they ruined such a loved franchise. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Those in between are people who are not blindly furious with the game or completely fanboying around it. The game is average, it kills that the best part of the game happens in the first quarter of the game and is a descent from there, with some ups being miles from those first 3 hours of the game and it doesn't help the best parts of the games after those spike the game hit in those 3 first hours are flashbacks with Joel. The gameplay itself would give this game a minimum score of 4. After those three hours, you start playing as Ellie hunting down the team that kills Joel and it looks like a common vengeance story, but about half the game Ellie starts to doubt her revenge after killing a member from the team who was pregnant and thinks it best to leave it behind and go back with the team, but she gets ambushed by Abby who kills one of the three likable new side characters and TA-DA ... Back to the start of the story and you start playing as Abby from the moment she killed Joel, and the game starts trying to make you feel some attachment to the characters YOU ALREADY KILLED as Ellie. You find out that Owen is another likable character but the fact you know he is going to die x days latter makes so hard to create a link to the character even tho he probably has a better development then the 2 main characters during his small screen time in this flashback Abby segment and the game would make a better job if it made you play as Abby first after killing Joel and starting care about those new characters and making killing then with the Ellie segment a harder thing to do/see. I will stop the review here. The game is not even close to the 0 to 4 I see here. But no way in hell and heaven its an 8+ game too, damn even a 7 is an stretch because those are for games that are almost there. All those critics reviews just dont want to lose those early review copies they get and give this game a high score for it.… Expand

    Truely disapointing and i cant believe how they can do the worst job they can do on the story side. It make me feel like i was watching game of thrones final all over again!!!

And please pay no attention to the trolls, which not only didn't play but can also not deal with feelings. They refuse to see anything past their preconceived notion that the game is bad because the one thing they didn't want to happen, happens. If the plot hadn't been leaked and they got to experience the game instead of reading it out of a **** script and watched a few scenes without context, maybe they would feel the gut-wrenching emotions this game provides. It's through actually playing the mission parts and being in danger and listening to seemingly unimportant dialogue that you get to like the characters and, even if you don't, there's no way empathy doesn't tell you EVERY story has two sides and humans aren't 100% good or bad. Joel was always going to be a villain in someone's eyes, we were just endeared to him first. This is not about taking sides, it's about understanding that nobody is a hero in a time of desperate need and every action you take has consequences that might shape your future and your relationship with those who love you.… Expand

Wow, Its frigging Awesome, I’ve been gaming since the pong days in the 70s and trust me, this Games cutting edge, Sending you on a barrage of emotion and tingling your morales to oblivion, makes you think there’s consequences to my actions even when Gaming, It’s utterly epic i am in awe of this Game and in all honesty didn’t think they’d come close to the Original which in my opinion was the best game ever produced, but boy, they knocked it outa the Park ! Game play is great with so many accessible features for the impaired, They thought of Everything , Well done Naughty Dog in Dragging in dragging us all Kicking & Screaming into 2020 and beyond, 10/10 for me … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the end tends to wish, because ellie did all that in vain, however, i think she didn’t kill abby so as not to leave lev in the same situation as abby left ellie, lev would definitely seek revenge, taking death joel's ridicule, since he was not so dumb to die that way, trusting strangers, the game is good, I hope the continuation, and I hope that ellie has its happy ending, even without Joel… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
