The story was great, not as great as the original in my opinion but still great. Maybe because it was much more complicated, the original was much simpler compared to this sequel. No one actually "wins". This story is much darker. Also, the jump scares were a lot of fun and stressful at the same time. Some of the combat encounters were incredibly intense, especially if your playstyle is stealth. This game is one of the best games I have ever played and I'm 47. I've played games all my life and this one easily makes top 5, possibly top 3.… Expand

    I don't usually listen to the voices that say everything is terrible, and whine about how someone can ruin "Their" game when nothing that game companies create belong to them.

    And honestly I can understand why some people might be sour on this game. But it's not a zero, it's so far from a zero. The graphics are gorgeous, the combat is fluid, the atmosphere is tense and engaging.     And honestly I can understand why some people might be sour on this game.

    But it's not a zero, it's so far from a zero.

    The graphics are gorgeous, the combat is fluid, the atmosphere is tense and engaging. The story isn't even the worst thing ever. I can totally buy this is how the story pans out.

    This game is good, for me it was great, like the original last of us there is no happy end, and everything is finished but it feels empty, the same feeling I had after the first game.

    I very much enjoy this game, if you aren't sure you're going to like this game I recommend you just wait and buy it when the price drops.    … Expand

    It is heartbreaking to see how disrespectfully ND treated Joel. After so many years of waiting for part 2 of my favorite game of all time This was such a disappointment. The graphics and gameplay are great but the story is crap. The flashbacks were some of the best parts and sadly remind me of how good this game could have been without the PC bias.

This game doesn't deserve less than a 5 and anyone who is doing so without explaining in great detail about why is not a real fan of the last of us. Most of these reviews were put up before anyone could have finished the game. The plot ties together nicely during the end. I understand the game is a bit of a grind but it's got great action. Great environments. Stunning scenery. Ok writing, not great, but not trash. People giving the game a 0/10 should be ashamed to call themselves fans, This game ties in a lot with the first one and offers a lot of closure. The worst part about the writing is how obsolete most of the characters become other than Dina and abby. (and even Dina is pretty obsolete ) The game doesn't handle pacing well, but if you enjoy the pace then it's great. The unique enemy fights are a treat as I found myself freaked out more than once, especially when that blob thing in the hospital attacked us.

    I am mildly dissapointed in the easter eggs. Abby only finds coins mainly and for the majority of the game there is a bunch of letters left from people who have died or relocated. Not many of them were a good read, mostly I was looking for safe codes, but a few were actually nice to read. Ellie's collectibles come in the form of trading cards, which is okay, but I don't really understand them. I much preferred the original collecting of comic books as those were more in my interests. Perhaps Ellie could have collected video game discs? Or old boxes for video games.

    Playing as abby at the start was pretty meh, but her character really does improve and develop to the point where I found myself supporting her. Not to say she's ok, she's a monster like Ellie.

Antes de receber o segundo em pré venda, finalizei o primeiro novamente. E sim, o segundo desenvolve mais as tramas e subtramas. Vc fica curioso com as pontas soltas. No primeiro, basicamente, vc tinha que chegar no destino (hospital) e desenvolver a amizade/amor entre os dois. Já no segundo, estou, no momento, jogando coma Abby e não sei para onde a história seguirá. Isso me motiva a jogar mais e mais.… Expand

    Naughty Dog gave us a game with something to say, and I was willing to accept that, even if it meant that the game would go to places I wasn't ready for. I'm disappointed that so many people weren't ready to make that same sacrifice. If they were, they would have been greeted something truly phenomenal

    It doesn't make any sense that this game is in the three-point range. I was angry that something sad happened in this game. However, the more I did, the more I understood the character Abby, and it was comforting to see Elly and Joel playing in the past. The more I saw the game and graphics, the more I was amazed.The Last of us Part 2 is a masterpiece.

    The worst game that i have ever played. There are a lot of meaningless scenes which is boring and annoying in the game. The ending was a disaster... Don't know what the storyteller wants to say. Can't believe the company ruined the reputation of the last of us series. I feel so bad about it.

    The Last of Us Part II was an incredibly sad journey. We must remember that we arent here to choose the story for Ellie and Joel but experience their story with them. Lots of people didnt like the choices made by the characters but it's not your story to tell. Just to experience. Phenomenal game with great story telling I highly recommend it.

    7 years of hype and patience with absolutely no payoff. Gameplay has very little changes, most notably the "jump" mechanic. Graphics and music are stellar. Storyline is utter mess, it made me feel as if I made little to no impact while progressing.

    Worst 60$ purchase of my life.

    didn't really care for the story to much. i could care less about this abby character in the first place... so it kind of sucked the game had you play as her so much. The graphics where nothing insanely impressive compared to a lot of other games out there as well, but definitely not bad. Sure the story can be sooo bad sometimes and Joel death is really messed up , the problem of the game is forcing you liking a character that kill and hurt your favorite characters that everyone loves but in there some chunks are really good and there's more Scarier and tensed moments that the first game have . gameplay , graphic , soundtrack , animation are flawless Soo bad the story is not the same level as those is not a bad game but I'm sure as hell is not good as the first one story wise . This was the first mistake made by Naughty dog and I hope they learn they're lesson and do better next time… Expand

Don’t believe me, look at all the “Offical Critic” reviews on this site. Giving. The game a perfect 100/100 score without talking or mentioning major parts of the game.

    Bottom line is that this is one of the most amazing gaming experiences that I've ever had. The Proudboys and other incel groups had a coordinated review bombing campaign. This is the second wave of gamer-gate and it is disgusting to see. Maybe you won't like it, maybe you will. I loved it.

    Every single likeable character is killed off in the stupidest and most nonsensical way possible, the likeable characters that do remain alive are slowly turned into petty, sadistic sociopaths. Not to mention the fact that all the female characters have been made deliberately ugly as a means by which to push some body positivity agenda or something. Apparently Joel being a physically fit, reasonably attractive man is okay, but physically attractive women aren't. How odd.

    The game fancies itself as a "love it or hate it" experience, but truth be told, it is not as grand as it claims to be. Had it actually given a message that was unique and hopeful, it could ultimately forgive botching it's entire cast of characters to prove a point. But it ultimately boils down to "violence is bad and revenge is bad lol". They slaughtered every character beyond recognition to make such a obvious statement.    … Expand

    Os gráficos são medianos, nada de especiais pois já vi gráfico muito melhor em jogo de início de geração e que não possuem o framerate tão quebrado como    Uma da piores sequencias do PS4. Se não bastasse a lacração claramente explicita ainda tem uma chuva de bugs e muitos deles chegam a comprometer o gameplay como travar atrás de paredes, não conseguir subir no cavalo dentre muitos outros.
    Os gráficos são medianos, nada de especiais pois já vi gráfico muito melhor em jogo de início de geração e que não possuem o framerate tão quebrado como esta porcaria.
    A física do jogo é inexistente em 90% do game como água que não molha grama que não amassa.
    A história é clichê e mal explicada principalmente quanto a morte de Joel.
    A IA do game deve ser comparada a uma pessoa com QI menor que de um macaco.
    Não percam tempo nem dinheiro com este jogo ele consegue ser tão quebrado como "Delays Gone".    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This isn’t what fans of the first game wanted out of a sequel, and that’s perfectly fine! Naughty Dog gave us a story that was brutal, heart-wrenching and above all, real. This wasn’t a traditional game story with a happy ending, or even one that was wrapped up in a neat little satisfying bow. That’s part of what gave the story a more realistic feeling to me and made me respect it.
    Joel’s death made sense to me. Abby was justified in doing what she did. Yeah, everyone loves Joel but let’s be honest with each other, he did some bad things and had something like that coming for a long time. No one gets to have a happy ending in a game like The Last of Us. A lot of people are really upset that Joel and Ellie’s relationship was destroyed and never really got to mend, but what exactly did they expect to happen? Everyone knew that they would have a falling out because of how The Last of Us 1 ended. Not all relationships get mended. With this one it was due to Joel’s untimely death but again, that’s part of what made this story feel so realistic! As sad and frustrating as it may be, there are plenty of relationships in real-life that never had a chance to be repaired due to a death. When we had to start playing as Abby for a while (a little too long really) I was kinda upset as most other players were. ND wanted us to understand and sympathize with her as a person and I was a little unwilling to do that at first. But as her story progressed, I kept thinking to Troy Baker’s recommendation to approach the story with an open mind, and that’s exactly what I made an effort to do as we got to play as “the bad guy”. Abby’s story showed that she was not the villain in any way, no more than any other character in the story. I understood the character and I even forgave her for killing Joel! In the end, I’m glad Ellie let her go.
    TLoU2 made some ballsy story choices and I’m glad they did. I think players need to understand that this isn’t your conventional story with a conventional ending. They wanted that but got something else entirely, which shocked them and they let it ruin the game for themselves. People are being way too harsh on this game.
    Also, I did not feel like Ellie being gay was forced down anyone’s throat. So many people are getting mad over it and I don’t understand why. There’s so obviously a double-standard here because if Ellie was straight and Dina was a guy, no one would be saying a single word. Who cares that they’re girls and they like each other????? Get over yourself.
    The graphics were astonishing. The gameplay was great, keeping to its roots yet expanding on it in a good way. The AI was some of the best I’ve ever seen in a game. I almost felt bad for killing some of the people because they were humanized in a way that I haven’t seen done before. I loved being able to go back and play the guitar at points! Being a musician, it was fun to play some songs I know with the chord wheel :). Some of the characters were uninteresting and I just wasn’t attached to some of them. I didn’t care for most of the people that Abby was with (I did not like Owen at all) and I just didn’t really end up caring when her people died. I also wasn’t all that attached to Jesse so when he got shot in the face I was kinda like meh. Dina was fine. Kinda boring but fine. I wish we hadn’t played as Abby for so much of the story. I understand why and it made me appreciate her character more but I just wish we could have played as Ellie for more of the game.
    Now the most controversial part of my review: I would like to see at least a DLC story of Abby and Lev, if not, I’d actually really like a spin-off game for the two following Santa Barbara.    … Expand

The last of us part 2 however, was a struggle to get through. When it comes to the last of us it's all about the setting and the story. I debated whether to give this game a 4 or 5 and I decided on 5 in the end. It all comes down to how the characters were portrayed mostly. The gameplay is ok but not an improvement from the original. I don't agree with people giving it a 0 for the review simply because they dislike the story. I dislike it also, but you have to take into account the whole game. Visuals and Music were top notch which is where all my score went.

    When it comes to the story it was utter garbage. Joel and Tommy don't act like themselves, Which leads to Joel's death. You're also forced to play as Abby, the character who murdered Joel. Abby's justification for killing him is a good one, however, it's been 7 years with Joel and Ellie. Playing and replaying that story and being attached to those characters. Being forced to play with a beloved characters murderer sucks. I couldn't relate to her at all because I was so pissed at her. I wont spoil everything but the ending leaves a lot to be desired. It is for sure a mixed bag that some people will like and some will hate. I'm in the latter. The settings, fears, anxieties, moods, etc. are blended together perfectly to create an extremely authentic and relevant experience. If you are a fan of cerebral apocalyptic horror, then I highly highly recommend this game. In truth I rate it much higher, the plots were not as predictable as always, the story telling was non-linear not scattered, Ellie acting out of character was what she had become after she came to know what Joel did, she lost herself after knowing she is the one at the center of everything. She looses many aspects of herself including humor. Her decision to forgive Abby itself is another character development where she finally understands the cycle of violence and breaks it. And Abby for that matter is the one shown to have changed that. Abby is the one who forgives her so many times. Why are so many people failing to see so many things. *spoiler* Ellie losing her two fingers is crafted beautifully to show the loss of Dina and JJ and even that she is unable to play the guitar anymore. And dude there’s just so much more, it’s a well crafted piece of art, heavy on the heart and challenging to the human mind.

    To the people who say plot development was bad: The whole god damn 30 hours were a complicated story in the equals of God father/Citizen Kane*Spoilers*Character development where Ellie faces different emotions after being influenced by revenge (Joel), Love (Dina) and Forgiveness (Abby).

    And come on, game mechanics! This game is an example to many how gameplay, game story telling and game physics truly interact with each other! Even the hate everywhere commends it for it’s incredible graphics and game design.    … Expand

    I know this page is being review bombed but I still wanted to leave my thoughts on this game. The Last of Us part 2 is a masterclass in gameplay, world building, level design, animations and graphical fidelity on a PS4 from 2014, and of course story telling.

The story between Ellie and Joel was amazing with all of the character progression. Jumped into this game and was completely taken back by the false advertising by Naughty Dog game company with how the trailers made it seem like it was Joel putting his hand over Ellie’s mouth and in previous interviews stating that the game focused on Ellie and Joel and he appreciated the characters from the first game.

    So we have Joel killed out of the blue by some random character that no fans have any connection to.... seems very off putting. Like where did this character come from? Who in the development team pitched this or did Anita have anything to do with this development? Like fans everyone are just freaking confused. Then we play Abby for about half of the game still hating this character with absolutely no way to sympathize with this character. If Naughty Dog was trying to be inclusive with this character, I can’t think of the complete opposite for anyone that even remotely impersonates her. This game completely destroys any love for this game series. I just don’t know what this company is doing anymore misleading their fans and pushing out this garbage. I should have just stopped with playing the first game.
    Also Ellie kills ALL of these people in the story no problem....and then in the time Ellie has a chance to kill Abby she just doesn’t? After all of that. Lets her go? It makes zero sense no matter what flashback she had.    … Expand

    Но увы про сюжетную часть игры у меня ряд ОЧЕНЬ СЕРЬЁЗНЫХ претензий. Однотипные диалоги, главные героини не вызывающие никаких эмоций. Убийство главного героя первой части в самом начале игры, это самый бездарный подход к развитию истории. Про Элли мне нечего сказать, просто типичный персонаж абсолютно любой игры в первой части за неё переживал, тут же её сделали безэмоциональной и нелогичной. А вот про Эбби у меня ещё больше претензий, зачем этот персонаж нужен как игровой и никому не нужная история на лишние 10 часов игры, которая проходится скрепя зубами что б узнать, что же всё таки с нашими ребятами произойдёт в итоге.     Simply the best game I have ever played. It's an incredible sequel to part 1. The story is as wonderful and engaging as the first game, but with more memorable characters. Gameplay, graphics, soundtrack, sound effects, everything is great. Surely TLOU2 wins this year's GOTY.
