They disregarded everything that was good about the main characters from the first game, and painted Joel and Tommy as two idiots who made the stupidest mistakes that no veterans who survived the apocalypse for many years would do. The story simply gave Abby a plot armor, made everything flow in a way that fits her, and in the end you get forced to play as her and break Ellie mentally and physically. I give this story 1 of the two missing fingers out of 10.… Expand

    This is the tragedy of Ellie, Abby and to a lesser extent, Lev and Alice... There are many monsters in this world and this game is not only stunning with its graphics but also its character development and gut wrenching story. It's beautifully chaotic neutral... 10/10    … Expand

    Absolute best graphics and the sound design is flawless... BUT... The Story... I mean... I really want to just forget. This is some Disney Starwars and GOT S8 level writing. Furthermore they force you to play as a character that you hate. I think the graphics should make up more than on point in my rating but having this story this is not possible...

As a fan of the original game, what made that game amazing was the chemistry between Joel and Ellie, who he took under his wing and basically taught her the essentials of survival in the world they lived in. Seeing him go from seeing her as a pest to loving her like his own daughter was the climax of that game. Last of Us 2 did a disservice to Joel and to Ellie. Sure, the story was decent, as it kind of reminded me of a movie sort of plot but it just doesn’t work. I don’t think anyone wanted to play as Abby, like she killed the main character of the first game! Were we supposed to feel sorry for Abby, and playing as her was supposed to justify her actions?? I felt it was a waste of time. In the end, Abby gets what she wants and Ellie is left alone without Joel, Dina and is left to wonder by herself. There is no closure for her and it was just a sad way to end the game after so much was put into Ellie and Joel in the first game. Just wow… Expand

    The ganeplay takes what works with the first one and elevates. the story flows nicely off of the back of part 1 also and the game is stunning.

    Horrible story. The graphics are great. It has nothing to do with inclusion, but the story is laughable and very frustrating. I can't feel sympathy for characters despite the pointless story trying so hard to get me to feel sympathy for enemies.

    I really wanted to enjoy this game but I couldn't. The game force you to watch a character you loved in the first game get murdered TWICE for stupid reasons and then make you play the murderer for almost half the game. The plot points that bring you to this situation are badly written and characters don't act like themselves. The whole story feels utterly nihilistic and bleak.     The graphics are gorgeous, the facial expressions are the best I've seen on PS4, but the story is childish and silly, and the game as a whole is pretty boring. The gameplay has barely changed since the first game and the AI is pretty bad. The way the characters from the first game are treated is plain insulting.

    I have not still finished the game, but it is obviously a masterpiece. The gameplay, sound, the story. I would personally rate it 9, but have to give 10, just to oppose those stupid biggot people who downrate it on purpose.

    This game takes you through so many emotions and has great character development. It has the sad and powerful elements of the first Last of Us but boosted to another level. Naughty Dog pulled out out all the stops and I am so glad they did. Truly a beautiful game.

If you are a fan of terrible writing, gameplay from 2013, and a cast of empty, lifeless characters that you're forced to play as and emphasize with this is the game for you. Out of a 25ish hour long game seeing Joel die two hours in is a stupid way to start a game. It leaves you wondering where the hell can the game go from this? Hunt abby for 23 hours? Oh wait nah, you play as Abby for half of it. The character that just killed Joel you are forced to play as for half the game. And the end, you get to play as Ellie but wait! You dont get revenge, no you let Abby go and now Ellie has nothing because her family left her. Terrible writing.… Expand

El gameplay toma como base la primera entrega y lo pule de una manera perfecta en la que el control recuerda al increíble trabajo que se realizó en metal gear Solid v y esto agregado al diseño más abierto de los niveles y las posibilidades de interactuar con el entorno lo combierten en algo increíble de experimentar por último la presentación visual y auditiva es algo que difícilmente se superará en esta generación por mi parte lo jugué en un Playstation 4 pro y solo puedo decirles que te quita el aliento en cada momento, el sonido que hacen los infectados mezclado con el sonido ambiente y los efectos de sonido te sumerge en la piel de ellie.

Hay muchas razones, pero las que más se repiten son aquellas que califican la historia como un desastre y que "obligan al jugador a pensar en la forma que ellos dicen".     I feel like I waited all my life for such a game. 4 days after playing, I feel full and empty at the same time, so many emotions. Love your family and don't go on the side of hatred and revenge, you will just lose more, this is a simple idea, but the way NG shoved it to us is so strong. "It's no better to be safe than sorry" and they didn't play it safe.

And you know what? That's exactly the point, the point the game is trying to make is that in the end nothing matters, and everything turns to **** There's no "happily ever after", there never was. For anyone. Ever. All there is is pain and sadness and finally death. That's human existence. I felt the same playing this as I felt watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, it's a painful but ultimately cathartic experience. It's not for the faint-hearted, but I still recommend it.… Expand

    After playing "The Last of Us" I was eagerly waiting for this game. I was so love with the first game's characters and managed to avoid the spoiler leaks. But after playing the second game I can say it that this game is pure trash. They took everything I loved about the first game and removed it. Save your money people.

    The major negatives...where to begin, I suppose the story should be first up. This game is depressing... like I would recommend people avoid it if they have any signs of depression or anxiety because it might push you into a really bad place. There is virtually no hope or joy in the world to speak of, and whatever might be considered joy is dashed by character actions.
    This segues nicely into character problems. I was not as enamored by the original TLoU characters as some people were, but their motivations seemed logically consistent. Honestly what the hell is even going on with these Ellie, Joel, Abby? Joel is completely out of character in comparison to the original game. Ellie and Abby's deathmatch over the course of the game has done nothing for me either as it seems as they will never grow into fully formed characters, rather they will just perpetually be in a juvenile state of vengeance to the end of the game. It has already been spoiled for me so I know what happens, but I am not sure I can last that long even though I am trying to make a review for the game. I was hopeful that this would live up to all the hype that surrounded it, but I have just been disappointed.
    As I said earlier I am not sure why anybody would give this more than a single playthrough, perhaps a completionist or someone who wanted to fiddle with the varied settings could get more out of it, I just don't see myself caring that much. There is nothing to care about in this game, it is brutal for brutality's sake, and the characters are two dimensional at best. It would be interesting to see how many of the critics who gave this a perfect score actually pick this game off their shelf to play it again now that they've reviewed it.     另外比较反感把LGBT元素放到游戏中，逼着玩家承认某种倾向的合理性。

One of the most profound games i’ve played. the storytelling is absolutely amazing, showing the duality and cycle of revenge in a way i don’t think i’ve ever seen. People on here saying it’s just a bad revenge story don’t get it, it shows the complexities of revenge and the different sides so beautifully. i havent cried so hard at an ending in anything ever really. i also start sobbing whenever i hear “if i ever were to lose you”. please play and decide for yourself instead of letting these reviews get you down. an absolute masterpiece.… Expand

    1. Technical: The Last of Us Part II is an absolute masterpiece if you look at the quality of the game play, graphics and overall atmosphere of the game. All the levels are beautifully crafted, the weapons are smooth and lethal, the violence is raw and the levels are scary and emotional. Because of this, I don't blame the developers or designers at Naughty Dog, they've done an incredible job and should be praised and compensated for it.

    2. Story: The piece that breaks the experience and the reason why there are so many negative reviews. Simply put, the story makes no sense. Key and beloved character murdered in almost the first hour of game play seems to imply that the game will be fast paced but the game ends up taking 25+ hours to finish. From the murder scene mentioned, nothing happens outside of a couple deaths of characters that you don't even get to know. The story ends without anything major happening, the last scene is one that could be blamed for the debacle. The last couple hours of game play should have never been included in the game, again, absolutely nothing happens but a symbolic loss of flesh (sounds weird and it is).

    Conclusion: it's pretty easy to say that the Last of Us series is done. Taking into account the story of this game and the negative reaction of the public, I can almost guarantee that it won't even cross the mind of Neil Druckmann to create another part for this series. On a personal note, I was amazed by the quality of the game play but extremely disappointed by the story and the choices made in this game. One big let down that will be hard to forget.    … Expand

    De lo mejor que he jugado en mucho tiempo, le daría un 10 pero la historia en algunos puntos pudo haber ido mejor, aún así me gustó bastante fue una historia decente que introdujo personajes memorables y ni hablar del gameplay o la banda sonora, magnifico.

    I loved this game so much up until the very end scene but honestly still very much worth the 9/10. The graphics are insanely good, you almost forget its a video game. Loved all the new characters too, especially Dina. Im hoping they release another DLC or something though bc again the last scene was a little disappointing.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a very big fan of the story of the first game, i have to say that not only i feel insulted, but also disappointed. Story is a very cliché revenge story, where you are forced to kill people you don’t care about and them forced to feel bad about, even when again, these characters are so disposable, that you cant feel any emotion when they die. Gameplay is the same from the first game, with a few new puzzles, plus the old ones that were already stale. After 7 years, the AI is just as dumb, they still do the same kind of patrolling, and you can still strangle someone while they scream next to another npc that doesnt notice. The soundtrack and the graphics are amazing, and those are what gives this review the positive points. Santaolalla’s soundtrack is outstanding. The game relies too much on the story, so much that some sections are just walk from point a to point b, watch a cutscene, get the same encounter where you can sneak against some enemies, and repeat. For a character that doesnt forget a guy that insults her and giver her free food in the apocalypse, it doesn't lake sense that she would forgive the person who killed her father figure. Abby’s sections feel forced and you never get to feel sad for her. You already saw her father’s death as a consequence for a tough decision, and again, every time you play as her, you just want the section to end. The flashbacks are the best and i would prefer to just play those instead of the rest of the story.… Expand

It's hard to even put into words how disappointing it is. I wanted to like it so much. I constantly watched all the trailers for month's, year's. I was in shock and confusion over what happens in the first act and it just get's progressively worse as it goes on. The best parts of The Last of Us are the little happy, heart warming moments, looking at the capital building at sun rise, the car ride to Pittsburgh, Ellie's jokes, Henry and Joel talking about Harley's, the moment's from left Behind, the Halloween shop, brick throwing contest, the merry-go-round, the arcade, playing Jak X, playing the turning, the water gun fight dancing on the display case, Riley and Ellie's Kiss, and the most important of all of them the giraffe scene. There are none of those moment's in this game. Everything in this game is miserable, uninteresting, messy, and boring. The very few good moment's are immediately halted. The visuals were not that impressive, I think Uncharted 4 looked a million times better. The Gameplay felt sluggish and not responsive, and probably one of the biggest let downs is that the soundtrack sucked, It felt so generic and boring. It felt like they were trying to recapture the music of the first game but it just sucked. The story was horrible both from what actually happens in the game and also from a writing and storytelling perspective. This may be hard to believe but I played the whole game in one go. It took me 23 hours to finish. I did not sleep because I knew I wouldn't be able to. It is so miserable that I wanted to get to the end to hopefully get some sort of closure and a tiny bit of happiness but nope. I get these flash Images of the ending in my head and it makes want to throw up, thats how bad it is. Weather it was intentional or not, I don't care. I really really really wanted to love this game. I love everything that The Last of Us and Naughty Dog represented, but this was spirit killing. Ellie has been my hero for seven years, she would always give me hope. but in this game, she let me down so much, everyone let me down. The Last of Us will always have a special place in my heart, but as far as I am concerned, this game does not exist. For me The Last of Us Ends with Ellie saying okay.… Expand

There were so many flashbacks and it just felt like the game was out of order. I also hated playing as Abby and almost wanted to stop playing the game entirely. Not to mention, the boss fight against Ellie as Abby disturbed me a lot and probably many others because I love Ellie and I have no sympathy for Abby... sorry. On the other hand, the graphics were amazing and the combat was okay, I liked the new additions (new infected, jump button, army crawl, etc.) I think they did a very good job of polishing the gameplay. Overall, I think I should have just watched play-throughs of this game on Youtube instead of actually buying it myself.… Expand

The first game was amazing with a beautiful story whereas the second one made no sense and has so many plot holes throughout the story. In the first last of us a firefly pretended he was hurt and needed help and Joel knew what he was doing so he ran over him and trusted almost nobody. In the second game he trusts everyone which makes no sense which is so disappointing in how he dies. I'm not giving this game a 0 because although I'm disappointed with the story, the graphics were amazing and the soundtrack was also very solid and the gameplay wasn't so bad… Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
