    Just finished the game. I wouldn't say it's perfect but it sure is excellent. I played the first one and enjoyed it a lot. The sequel makes it justice in unexpected ways. It's a dark story but the way its told trough multiple characters is absolutely brilliant.

    Story was extremely unsatisfying but gameplay and graphics are gorgeous and genuinely amazed me. Playing the game made me feel bad about myself, for example beating the **** out of ellie or having to try and sympathize with such an unlovable character (Talking about ABBY).

    I can't believe this game is in the same franchise as the first one, the gameplay is outdated, has a lot of exposition scenes trying too hard instead of happening naturally like the first one, and the characters are just simply unlikeable. TLOU rose above because of the story, but they just dropped the ball here.

    Finished the game Sunday morning and had to collect all my thoughts, it does tell a cohesive and great story. Phenomenal game all around, people are review bombing this game due to their insecurities in addition to not owning the game and that is okay since it'll win GOTY and be talked about for years with it setting the new standard for story telling.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's super underwhelming as the sequel to what I think is actually the best story ever told in a game. I understand what they were going for but it's just so boring. They keep hammering home this idea that revenge and the cycle of violence is bad. No **** That's not an interesting idea, everybody knows that. I'm stunned people keep saying "this game makes you think," because unless you're a serial killer, it really doesn't. Of course Abby had a reason to want to kill Joel. Of course revenge and violence will **** up your mental state, of course it can ruin your life. Who thinks otherwise? This central idea is so boring and lame.

    Further, the characters are utter disappointments. Abby, who I initially hated for clubbing Joel, was the only one that I think was well developed. Jesse, a character we meet very early on and one of Ellie's core friends, is killed by Abby as he opens a door, and then after that he is mentioned ONCE hours later. It's like he never existed. Lev's sister dies, and Lev is disturbed for a bit and then she's never mentioned ever again. We play with Dina for a bit, then we leave her in a theatre and never play with her again, and she's basically just always in the theatre. Abby's friends are even less interesting, except for Owen. Mel is.. a medic and pregnant, and that's it. We know nothing else except then she dies and we're supposed to feel bad because she was pregnant. Nora - I remember nothing about, except that she dies interrogated by Ellie. Who is she? What does she like? Where'd she come from|? Who knows. So many of these characters just feel like fillers and throwaways, and the few interesting characters aren't really developed. Isaac was interesting - how'd he get to the top of the WLF, where's he from - we don't know and we see him once talk with him and then next time we see him he gets shot and killed and never mentioned again. Manny seemed interesting and was a funny guy and then he gets shot next to Abby and she never mentions him again. Overall the characters are uninteresting, some are underdeveloped, and they're generally very weak.

    Gameplay is fine - it's basically the same from TLOU1 except you have a few new toys like trapmines, but it's basically the same. Not bad, not good just good enough, which is fine because in the first game, it didn't need to be good because of how the story held up the game. But here, the story fails, and then the gameplay fails because it becomes repetitive. By the end, I was so tired of doing the same **** over and over again. Put a trapmine there, stealth kill here, throw a molotov there, throw a bottle and grab him and then kill him. Over and over and over and over. Frankly, it was extremely boring by the end.

    The visuals, acting, and music in this game are top-notch. Absolutely amazing, possibly the best I've ever seen, although I think the music in the first game was marginally better. The acting especially is straight movie quality - I think Ashley johnson hit it out of the park, and Troy Baker had one scene that I think was the best acted scene in the game (the last cutscene). Abby's actor was amazing as well, and although some of her moments weren't as emotional to me, that's less because of her acting ability and more because of the story's structure.

    It's very disturbing to me that people who liked this game are saying that all the negative reviews are coming from transphobic, homophobic people. Ellie and Dina's relationship was actually a highlight, but it didn't get enough time. Reading some of the reviews I've learned that Lev is actually transgender. I had no idea, I guess that's why she wasn't supposed to cut her hair, but I never made that connections. I really hope ND doesn't just dismiss all of the negative reviews as homophobic **** because I really think the story has some genuine issues. In the same vein, this game is not a 0/10 or 1/10. The acting, graphics and music alone raise that to at least a 4, and I think the gameplay being decent and the story having some highlights raises that to just an average game. Because this is a story driven experience, the story has more weight in terms of how I would rate it. In the context of TLOU1, a 5/10 is a failure, but had this been a standalone game, it would've just been fine.    … Expand

    Don't listen to all the crybabies.. it's a shame, that people don't get the message of the game. But on the other hand we live in a world where people vote for a certain orange skinned guy.. ah, nevermind, I am not that surprised people don't get the meaning of the last of us part 2. 10/10

    Graphics are awesome.
    Music and sound design are awesome.
    Gameplay is solid but not groundbreaking, just like the first LoU. Action sequences though were some of the best I've seen in gaming and had me holding my breath.
    Story was not perfect and it hurt a lot at times, especially the prologue, but at the end of the day it moves on whether you want to or not. Pacing can be off at times but there are tender moments throughout that make it all worth it. On NG+ right now and I'm really looking forward to the second half of the game.

    I think people really have to look at the bigger picture. Not every story has a happy ending and i think people should accept that. Not saying this game doesn't have its problems but it definitely does not deserve the hate it is getting.

    It's a good game. The characters are amazing. It's not a 10/10 but it's certainly not a 0. It's so sad this hate campaign because it's so rare to se a game so moraly intrincated, so critical about the state or things we r living. I think it's amazin hto have a game fulfilling his social role. As a social statement this game is a 1000/1000.

    Very terrible writing. There's something wrong with the industry and Hollywood where writing quality gets low priority, but visuals always get high priority. It doesn't make any sense because writing is the more important field.

    played game 1, now after a few months, played game 2
    i cannot fathom the depth of my dissapointment about this game 2

    As a fan of the original, to say the story for the sequel was a disappointment would be an understatement. They basically ruined everything that was good about the first game, pretty much for nothing. The game looked and sounded good and gameplay was ok, but the game felt like it dragged on as the game progressed. If you haven’t seen the leaks just go in to the game completely detached from elie and joe keep an open mind and played it as a game not so much for the story like the first one. The last of us 1 is very special to me it was my first game after 10 years out of the scene of gaming due to girls fast cars motorcycles ect. I came back as a grown adult and gaming was completely different from my old days and fell in love with tlou1 after 7 years of waiting for a sequel I am extremely disappointed with the story and mainly the story game play is a little better the the first and the graphics omg naughty dog is just on a league of its own joe dying was expected bit the way it was done mmm why and the part that kills the game for me is you have to play as abby, really? Not as good as the original TLoU but i went in not expecting it to come close to the masterpiece of that game, and I came out satisfied. The game looks amazing and gives different perspectives on the events in TLoU part 1 and forces you to choose between Ellie or Abby. Feeling anger at Abby over the game and then learning the pain that Abby felt at the hands of Joel helping to show the vengeance she desired just as Ellie feels the need for vengeance against Abby. Overall I would gladly recommend the game and will definitely add it to the top of my list for must play PS4 games.… Expand

    Perfection. Seriously. Anyone who criticizes the story is someone who needs a happy ending with rainbows and unicorns and has no reason to be playing this game. You will not be happy by the end of the game, I promise you, but that is the beauty of this. ND doesn't want to treat you like a child, so don't expect that. Go play animal crossing.

The ending so anti-climactic borders on ridiculous. Imagine killing a good number of enemies without mercy even a pregnant one just to get to Abby but at the last minute Ellie let's her live.     It took me 26 hours to finish "The Last of Us Part II". I don't understand people who give zero marks, even if they criticize the plot, but say that everything else is fine. I liked the game very much, I don't see any critical problems in it that make my eyes pop.
    Graphics 10/10 Story 8/10 Sound 9/10, Gameplay 10/10

Which is why this game was such a god damn shame. The character arcs made no sense. It was so horrifically unsatisfactory and painful to play. Nos cuenta básicamente en 10 minutos y que su padre está siendo asesinado. ¿Eso es todo? Y ahora tengo que sentirme como ella y entender por qué mató a Joel?

    After playing this game for a couple of days, really trying hard to like it I just get overwhelmed by the studios agenda to push alternative relationships and identification. Loving in LA, I'm forced to deal with it constantly, I don't want to deal with it in my video games too.

    Just finished TLOU Part 2. I tried to explore as much as I could and it took about 25-30 hours. To get the most out this experience, I recommend taking your time exploring and engaging in all the optional conversations. Also, listen to some of the NPCs, they often mention cool stories.     My rating:
    Gameplay: 10/10. The improvements made in the second part might seem minimal but they make the gameplay much more fun and smoother. Some examples of these improvements: being able to jump, the character being more agile, more interactive environments, combat system is more "reactive". Also, the stealth mechanics (and to some extent the gameplay) resemble that of MGS5.
    Story:(This is the divisive part, I'm keeping this spoiler-free) I personally found the story to be intriguing, and very emotional. I felt like I understood the motivations of the characters to do what they were planning to do. I'd say that you can think of the story in 3 parts: the lore (involving the fungus cordyceps and the factions in this world), the main characters from the first game, and the new developments created in TLOU2. The lore was expanded and I really like the direction they took with it. Regarding the characters from the first game, the direction taken was something I did not expect but it made sense to me. The new "developments/characters" were also surprisingly interesting. I was able to follow the story quite easily even though I've heard some people had problems following the timeline. If you're used to movies from director Quentin Tarantino, then it should be easy to follow the story. I really enjoyed the story despite some of its sad moments. 10/10
    Graphics: 10/10.
    Survival Horror: 10/10. If you're a fan of survival horror, then this game is a must. It has some of the scariest experience(s).

    In conclusion: I highly recommend playing the game, experiencing it first hand is way better than watching it. Now I'm going back to this game for Game+.    … Expand
