In the previous game it explores the grieving feelings and depression of being unable to do something about losing someone (Sarah), control of your life and the reality that you live (20years of smuggling and stop caring about his brother and life ) ; and in this sequel, Ellie handles her grief for Joel with anger, retaliation and dealing with all the pain that she knows she will have to do ( to her enemies, her friends, partner and herself) and willingly lose her life to avenge the one who gave her a new meaning to her existence (joel was a pretty good almost-dad to her). I really don’t enjoy shooters or survival games but the story keeps you going.… Expand

    It's just ridiculous. We're used to top-notch graphics already, so for the game to have great graphics is not an advantage anymore. What I need when I play a game is a satisfying story with a satisfying conclusion. The characters can be LGBT, POC, buffed machos, women, squirrels, bandicoots, whatever, it does not matter. What matters is a story. Especially for a STORY DRIVEN GAME. It's notIt's just ridiculous. We're used to top-notch graphics already, so for the game to have great graphics is not an advantage anymore. What I need when I play a game is a satisfying story with a satisfying conclusion. The characters can be LGBT, POC, buffed machos, women, squirrels, bandicoots, whatever, it does not matter. What matters is a story. Especially for a STORY DRIVEN GAME. It's not like Skyrim, where you can spend weeks just wandering around. Just imagine, if in Witcher 3 they killed Geralt after the intro and told you to play as Ciri through the first half of the game, as Eredin for the other half, and in the end, you didn't even kill Eredin.     WHY!?! I can't believe this came from naughty dog, none of my friends(who were TLOU fans) enjoyed this game, I am tired of being force fed politics in games and tv whether I agree with it or not.

TLOU 1 was a masterpiece, it was story like we never seen before, it was breathtaking. TLOU 2 is beautiful looking game and it has great gameplay. Well gameplay doesn't have much innovation, but it worked in TLOU1 so i am good, but i don't get what happened during development of this game. How could they give this story green light. The story itself is just a messy garbage. None of the characters are interesting NONE!!! When some character dies you feel nothing like they werent even there and they die a lot. I just don't get why would you follow first game story with a story about revenge it seems lazy. This whole theme revenge is bad it's stupid. half of the game is basically pointless it's just the same **** but from the enemy side. After finishing this game I just feel like i wasted 30 hours. iT was truly horrible experience and i hope everybody that reads this review will understand that this mess is not worth your time and money. I still have to give it a six for its gameplay and graphics… Expand

    Not much is needed to be said that hasn’t been already. Great gameplay and looks terrific. Writing is just awful, I didn’t realize it was a love story. As well as the terrible assumption that the fans wanted this. I see it was never about the fans. Guess the lying worked in your favor Naughty Dog.

    The gameplay and graphics are easily the best of this generation but the story leaves a lot to be desired.



    Considering this is a linear story driven game, thats a big issue as unlike an open world game, if im not moving the story along, im stuck. I wont go into much detail concerning abby etc but its deceiving that she wasnt shown at all in the games marketing campaign.

    The game was not as good as the first part but still a must-play for last of us fans. i enjoyed every bit of this game when it comes to gameplay and cut scenes. The story was the only downfall in the 2nd part but still, i think you will enjoy the game because some of the game elements and gameplay is improved as compared to the first part.

Myself and many others feel completely lied to. The trailers built the game up to be something it was not. Ellie’s “quest for revenge,” for Joel takes a backseat to dumb drama with other characters I could care less about. Where the first game was one of the most well written stories in triple A gaming, the second one seems to be written by toddlers trying to push agendas. My only question for naughty dog would be “Who is this game for,” because it’s obviously not for fans of the original. I don’t know if I should even sell the game. It would just feel wrong putting this game in the hands of someone else, knowing what awaits them in this 25-40 hour train wreck.… Expand

    SPOILERS! Yo fui uno de los desafortunados en toparse con los leaks en Twitter, al verlos me sentí asqueado y muy decepcionado. Empero, a pesar de eso, decidí invertir mi dinero para conocer el por qué de cada decisión creativa y narrativa para poder compartir mi opinión, ya que considero que la moda actual de tirarle mierda al presente juego sin haberlo experimentado es ridícula.

    No vengo a hablarles del apartado técnico, gráfico, del gameplay, del sonido, de la banda sonora o de las interpretaciones del elenco, dichos aspectos son excelentes, de lejos lo mejor de esta generación.

    The Last of Us Part II me ofreció una de las experiencias más crudas e intensas que he experimentado dentro de un videojuego. El juego es duro, cruel, muy violento y oscuro, no teme presentar momentos y giros de guion que pueden ser considerados completamente descabellados o de mal gusto.

    Esta segunda parte juega con el tema de la venganza de una forma agridulce y muy compleja, tomando dos perspectivas distintas que nos deja en claro los estigmas, el costo, cuantas personas inocentes pueden salir afectadas y la ceguera durante tu travesía en busca de hacer justicia por mano propia.

    Por un lado, Ellie busca venganza por la brutal muerte de su figura paterna, pero a la vez se le adjunta su sentimiento de culpa por no haber tenido un momento de paz y reconciliación con Joel, cada muerte y asesinato que ejecuta la afecta psicológicamente pero su sed de venganza es más fuerte. Por el otro, tenemos a Abby, quien asesina a Joel por la muerte de su padre.

    Al tener ambos puntos de vista, nos damos cuenta de la realidad: ambas mujeres buscan la supervivencia, tienen amistades, pareja, buscan estabilidad y lo mejor para su gente. Esta venganza no es como de las famosas cintas de Hollywood, aquí no existe un villano, son personas comunes y corrientes que se encuentran en constante peligro por otros grupos sanguinarios y peligrosos.

    El final -muy polémico- me pareció brillante porque representa el cierre del círculo de la venganza. Ellie se da cuenta de que puede llegar a perdonar a Joel por una decisión tan brutal que afectó la esperanza de toda la humanidad, entonces, ¿Por qué no perdonar a esta mujer que buscaba lo mismo que ella? Ambas compartían el sentimiento de venganza y su ceguera provocó la muerte de varios amigos inocentes, si esto continuaba, ¿quiénes y cuántos serían los siguientes afectados por ese deseo?

    La última escena confirma el perdón de Ellie a Joel, dejando sus cosas, sus recuerdos y su guitarra atrás, para dar paso a lo siguiente y al fin comenzar a buscar una nueva esperanza.

    The game is absolutely amazing with turns you can’t see coming. Easily the most beautiful graphically and story of any PS4 game. Reserve your judgements until you have finished the entire game because it is well worth playing all the way through. This is a sequel that surpasses its incredible predecessor. What an achievement.

The story is very good HOWEVER it will definitely not appeal to some people as it is very challenging and definitely not often "feel-good" even compared to the original. This is a character driven, brutal story with lots of deeply flawed people to pick apart and analyze.

    Gameplay is universally better than the original game, with absolutely incredible level design, a few new enemy types, and more items, crafting options, guns, some added platforming. Partner AI is better than in the original, though still not cutting edge or anything. Where gameplay is concerned I think this is my favorite title across the uncharted + TLOU era of ND games.

    The game has an INSANE amount of options. If you have vision or hearing disabilities: fear not, this game can be played by absolutely anyone.

    I gave it a 9/10, the point i'm taking back is because a couple of the new characters aren't fully realized and felt a bit lacking, and also because of a writing hiccup or two which, while minor, were a bit frustrating.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok so, I’m putting this out there, I liked The Last of Us Part 2. However I do see it as lower than the original and could’ve used a bit more work story wise.

    Gonna start with what I liked:
    -Story overall was pretty good and left me pretty satisfied in the end and feeling feels (To an extent), I’ll touch base on what I didn’t like in a bit
    -Loved the variable difficulty settings, made supplies a bit more scarce towards the middle/end of my playthrough.
    -The new AI is pretty good and caught up behind me a few times and everytime I did die from them I knew it was because I screwed up in some way.
    - It was very interesting getting to play from both Ellie’s perspective and Abby’s perspective of the events.
    - Loved all the new weapons and crafting you can utilize as well as being able to crawl/go prone in really tall grass -Some characters I initially hated at first kinda grew on me as I hung out around them and explored more. (Still some I didn’t like though)

    The cons/Stuff I didn’t super like:
    -There were two or so beats in the story I did. Not. Like. And super, duper major spoilers. 1. Killing off Joel fairly early in the story. Yes it is later touched on why Abby did it but it was super bittersweet especially right at the beginning and definitely felt more style over substance. 2. The ending/epilogue. I grew attatched to Dina x Ellie having a happy ending/life in the mid-point of the game and Ellie just... loses it all at the end. All for her revenge against Abby which in the end she doesn’t even finish her off, instead she lets her go.. makes the entirety of the Santa Barbara section of the game feel completely moot. Not too mention the downer of an ending, I’m all for depressing endings but that needs to be earned.

    - I did have a few moments where their backpacks kinda bugged out but nothing super game breaking

    - Some movements like horse and boat were a little janky and took a bit too long to get used to.


    In all, solid 7.5 or 8/10. Below the first game yes but TLoU 2 is a damn solid game and is a fairly worthy sequel, unfortunately some beats of the story do leave a bit to be desired. The critiques I understand and can see where some people are having issues, I will say hypothetically, out of 20 people, maybe 2 or 3 that ACTUALLY play it will not like it.    … Expand

The technical side of the game is one of the best I have seen in a video game from the graphics, gameplay all of that stuff is perfect. The story however is the most key factor in this series and this instalment is just poor I have completed the game twice to make sure my opinion remained the same and it was. The first major thing I had a problem with was of course Joel dying the way he did he didn’t go out like a hero or not in a memorable way it was brutal and disrespectful to his character and the first game. The second thing I had a problem with was Abby to be honest if the players played as her for the first half of the game and given the player a more clear understanding of the motivation for wanting to kill Joel and we would have cared about her more if we sure the pain she was going through before she killed him. The last thing I had a problem with was the ending it seemed that naughty dog didn’t want to kill Abby because they want to make a part 3 with Lev and Abby but to me the whole game built it up to the moment your going to finally get your revenge but Ellie lets Abby go to stop the cycle. The ending should of been where Ellie was at the farm with Dina and Jj and been happy for once I found myself just wanting it to end because of the disrespect shown to almost every character from the first game. I think Naughty dog should make a part 3 to give a concrete and happy ending to Ellie’s story in the last of us series and for god sake don’t include Abby no one will buy it. Ultimately Naughty dog failed in giving at least a decent story about revenge.… Expand

    Why is this the Last of Earth Part 2? All of the character and personality of the characters in Part 1 are only Ellie's cursing and sexual identity. Joel became senile dementia, and Ellie forgot the expression and memories of her last part 1.
    This continues in part 2. Tommy told Maria to stop Eli's revenge, but later appeared suddenly and asked to take revenge. Abby was the character who justified Eli's sacrifice and became very angry when a colleague died. Later, however, she kills a colleague herself to save a rev.

    I tried to show through Elie that revenge is chained and only emptiness remains, but Eli didn't take revenge. After stopping revenge, Elie loses her father, friends, families, and her finger. Abby, who was cleanly revenged, was forgiven and returned to fireflies with her companion Rev. Even looking at this alone, revenge seems better.

    The game-play was not bad and the graphics were good, but I think the most important thing in the last of us is the story. I removed 7 points from the story. And I removed one more point from the rainbow and Jewish symbols not needed.    … Expand

    Even if i never played this game and buy it but at least some leak hero saved me from false advertising and scam. The fact that director Neil himself saying father's day but hypocritical spitting Joel the main character it's just disgusting. Not only that, i hate how they put subliminal message of their agenda movement in this game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the game, my feelings were mixed. The graphics are the best you’ll find on the PS4. This is seriously a great game to look at. The music is written by Gustavo Santaolalla who kills it once again for this game. In fact, some scenes ride purely on the graphics and music to illicit an emotional reactions and I found these scenes incredibly insulting. The gameplay is a solid B+ for me. I often would get frustrated when popping out of cover as the enemy was able to get a shot on me faster than I could Iine up an accurate shot on them. What I realized is that the game is trying to encourage frantic dashing around the map. I would be most successful when I popped off a headshot from stealth and then quickly relocated myself to avoid the onslaught of enemies moving in on my location. I think this works well enough but I wish the game had a little bit stronger aim assist by default. Now onto the story. I don’t want to go too in depth here so all I’ll say is that this game is filled with situations that feel so unbelievable and forced. The story as a whole is both unappealing and unrealistic given the context of the first game. And 10 hours are spent playing as the antagonist, trying to earn sympathy from the player for this character. This falls completely flat and what you’re left with is hours of pushing yourself through the story just to get back to the characters you actually care about. Overall I don’t think that this is the sequel that the first game deserved, and I’m looking forward to doing another play through of that first game to cleanse my palate.… Expand

    I loved the game! Do not understand why there is so much hate. Everyone has there own opinion. I’m no SJW, nor a right minded person. I don’t care about al that when I play a game. This game moved me and it was beautiful. No others game besides of TLOU 1 moved me and that’s why for me it is once again a masterpiece.

    -The graphics are very good indeed, but that's expected from the latest AAA game.
    -The soundtrack is nice. I wish they'd taken inspiration from RDR series and used music to truly enhance some moments though.
    -The story isn't good: they tried to subvert expectations but they only succceded in disappointing us. It is a truly mess in terms of pacing, lots of moments don't make sense and in the end it is pretty a boring revenge story with no payoff. They tried to send the message that revenge isn't good, which is rather unoriginal and badly done.
    -The characters I have mixed opinion of: some of the interactions are warmhearting and realistic, but in general they behave rather irrationally or out of character. Also a character is quite obviously the director which is a bit pathetic.
    -The replayability is unexistent.
    -The fun/entertainment factor is almost unexistent as too many parts of the game are just a slog.
    All in all TLoU2 isn't a terrible game, but it is a disaster when compared to the original and I suggest to simply watch a playthrough instead.

Like others I do have criticisms but this game was an amazing experience that I recommend for any PS4 owner who can handle some heavy themes and violence, it's rare that games will sit with me for days after I've finished it and make me think about alot of things but this one certainly did, this game will definitely captivate you & draw you into the world but the violence and themes will pretty much put you in constant feelings of despair and I mean that as a compliment because I would have hated this even more if it wasn't that type of experience due to the subject matter, there are some lighter moments in there and some Joel/Ellie time to mellow out the player and I enjoyed Dani/Ellie's interactions for the most part so I assure you it's not all doom and gloom, the game has a variety of emotions that it will put through like most other games wont, the way this game captivated me and drew me into the story definitely overcomes some of the critiques I have on certain parts of the game.

    There are a lot of nonsense reviews on here so I'll go into the fake criticisms and some of the legitimate one's.

    In terms of the nonsense one's, I'd say a good 90% of the 1 and 0 rates are made up of the below group of people, just ignore these reviews, 1 and 0's should be dedicated to the very worst of games, even if you don't like story of this, the way the game plays, looks and sounds is well above your usual terrible game.

    In terms of the 3 nonsense types of reviews:

    . People that believe the game is making a political message by having LGBT characters, just because these people don't exist in your bubble doesn't mean they don't exist at all and that it wouldn't be plausible to have these types of characters in this world, how this is taken as a political message is absolute trash just like you people are as human beings for having an issue with it, these people have not played the game and ironically are making a political statement themselves by hate rating it down for the reason's I've mentioned above.

    .People that have just read the leaked spoilers and are just annoyed the story isn't going the way they want it to, again they haven't played the game so the rating is nonsense.

    .XBOX and switch players targeting popular PS4 only games, these people do exist, again haven't not played the game so the 1's and 0's should be ignored.

    Onto the legitimate criticisms, some of which I agree with:

    The way ABBY was incorporated the game is definitely something I agree is mishandled, I understood Abby and her reasons for going after Joel are understandable but just because I can understand it, it doesn't mean she is a likable character and I'm not sure why they thought anyone would want to play as here for multiple hours especially considering when we jumped to Abby was at a completely key part of the game that had been built up for half the game and it kind of felt like this was something I had to get through to get back to where I wanted to go and video games shouldn't feel like chores, I had no issue seeing the other perspective because I felt it was key in what this game was trying to get across but I felt you could of just done the Abby play though in 45 minutes to an hour tops.

    Joel's death, I would agree it was slightly to early but I don't have an issue with them doing it, to tell this revenge story it had to be Joel, it wouldn't have worked with anyone else, in terms of how they did it, it was a little bit of a stretch to buy two pro's in Tommy and Joel easily trusting a brand new group and it was probably a bit to early in the story but it was something I could look past considering some of the quality of the rest of the game.

    In terms of what I loved about this game, the graphics are absolutely incredible and i'm not sure I think of a game that wowed me this much in that regard, I loved the original but I did have a few criticisms on the combat and AI system in that game but I felt they definitely improved it here and it plays/looks really nice, the expressions of the character/facial animation are fantastic and express what the characters are feeling really well.

    I think Ellies part of the story is great and was completely captivated by the ride she took the player on, in terms of Abby's side I did enjoy the Scar island part, mainly because of some of the great visuals and fight scenes when all hell breaks loose.

    Some of the little things like the sound design of some of the violence was a great touch, the stealth kills felt more personal when you had other enemies yelling out their names reminding you that your not just killing robots but actual people who have loved one's, the way some of the more gruesome scenes were done really well and did a great job of making the player uncomfortable, little things like this game me more engrossed in a story.    … Expand

    This is the best game ever.
    I don't know whether I wanna pity or despise people who review bomb this game but while the impression of the game is still strong I choose the pity - I hope one day you grow up and learn to appreciate this piece of art. This work is an unique gem of gaming and I'm glad we have it. Totally worth the wait.

    The story is one of the worst things I've seen basically being a revenge story where the maincharacter doesnt even take her revenge even after killing numerous people, the AI feels like it came out of the first starcraft as a dragoon and put into a shooter game, and the workbench animation feels incredibly unnatural. These are just a few of the issues.

    There are so many things wrong with this, the only decent things are the combat system and crafting system.

    This should not be considered canon, this should not have even been made. Whoever made this obviously had a bad boss directing them to make this excuse of a story, also feels extremely rushed in many aspects of the game, no way this was decided on by the actual people who made the game on their own accord.     I absolutely love the visuals, sound design, soundtrack, and voiceacting in this game; however, all of that is nullified by a story that honestly falls flat on its face.

    A narrative should be more than just torture-porn carrying across the simple idea that revenge is bad. Anyone can write a story that simple and apparently anyone can **** it up.

    Honestly the story....

    Abby stumbling into Joel in the middle of a blizzard and the middle of an attack only to lead him back to hack his brains out. Playing as the antagonist (Abby) and only to end up fighting against the protagonist (Ellie).

    Ellie killing dozens upon dozens of dogs and hunters only to leave the one person alone that she was hunting down at the end.

    And then she comes back to an empty house, unable to play the guitar and unfulfilled for Joel. Awesome graphics though...    … Expand

    This game is a masterpiece. I like that the game has new open World parts and is so big. The Gameplay is so smooth. I saw some Bugs but they are not the big Deal. If you like survival + Zombies and a good story than fcking play the last of us 1 + 2.

    On the good side of the coin we have an excellent experience in graphics and gameplay. Unfortunately on the other side this sequel loses the essence of the first game with a very risky story which ended up disappointing the great expectation fans had for this title. It is not the worst game of the decade, but they could have made a better story than the one given to us in this game.

    The second part of the game, you play with a new character that nobody cares, or, if somebody does, probably hate it, for about 8 to 10 hours.

    Finally, the history makes no sense, it feels like a joke, specially the ending.

    The gameplay is outdated, but nobody cares about that, we know why we are here, we want a good story, this is not one.

    I will give it a 1 score, and that 1 is the only positive thing I can see in this game, graphics, audio and accessibility, very good job made by people CRUNCHING god knows how much.
