    Too hype for a normal game, the lgbt crap ideology partially screwed up the story. because it is bad anyway. Gameplay leaves something to be desired, repetitive, undoubted good graphics but its setting, houses, etc. are repeated and there is not much interaction with the world

They have used the old revenge story as a crutch to make a sequel instead of writing something interesting in the beautiful world they created. The killing of joel is a perfect example of trying to shoehorn a character into this game that has not earned their place and then being forced to play as that character is just insulting. They do not redeem themselves and instead come across as psycopathic. The ending is a big let down with no payoff. They think they are being clever by letting Abby go when in fact its just weak storytelling. The good are the graphics, which are beautiful. The voice acting is good. The game play is OK and though a step forward is not a huge step. I enjoy playing games as an escapist means to get away from the world. With this game too much of the world follows you in and makes it a tedious affair.… Expand

    The Combat has been refined and added onto significantly, the story makes you question everything you fight for. Definitely a must-play and an amazing swan song for the PS4 No spoilers. Just play it.

First of all I have to do an Review for that because I can understand why ppl are angry about the decision what ND did in the characters design and in the Story. The big BUT is that is the goal in this game to make you angry to feel the same what the characters feels to great an character like Abby is all about it to make some ppl angry. People are fearing what is not normal. Abby is an Charakter I have to fight with me because I cannot understand her motivations to be like a strong woman (Man) this Charakter could be also a man and the whole story would work also with the sex scene. That Charakter it out of place it not polished she feels forced in the game with a better storytelling about her motivation to be like a strong woman or be like a man maybe I wouldn’t think about it so much. The whole problem about emancipation is that women’s doesn’t want be a strong women the want to be like a man and lose their whole identity to be an women and that is what Abby is a man. When that is Abbys feeling I’m fine with that but then it should be more an topic in the game to be act like it is normal ND doesn’t have to make to an topic and we player won’t understand why she is like that is bad character design.

    But why I give that game an 10/10 because like I said the story would work also with other characters. For me was that game a emotional rollercoaster. I played it on survivor. The game is challenging on the difficulty I died a lot of dead’s with exploring almost every place I beat the game in 33h and i think for the platinum I need 15 more hours. The level design an master piece so many little details I have never seen in a game. The whole world looks so real an realistic an a life great work. The Acting and the Charakteranimation looks so realistic that I have to think about that is not a real movie.
    The game mechanics and the Charakter AI is much better then in the first game on survivor I had a lot of fun to think about with the lack of resources to fight an overpowered enemy. The Blood an violence is also one of the best what I have seen you really can feel the pain and what you have done with your tools to other humans like you.

    The Storytelling is on of the best what I have played so fare. Like I said emotion roller coaster. The perspective change from different characters is a good choice to feel the pain and the love from every character. I really can feel Abbys feelings (not or motivation about her identity) and Ellis feelings and there wasn’t only blood what flows in the game also my tears.


    Thank you ND I love you for that Game experience I will talk and think about it for Years like with the first game. Pls when ND decided do make Charakter with a other sexual or body identity then pls explain why we player can understand it and can more fit in the perspective of that character most of the ppl don’t know that feelings or why the are like that so for that ppl would it be great to tell them why.    … Expand

What happens early in the story is the driving force for a story that compelements the first one in a perfect way. I kept myself away from the leaks and even avoided most of the trailers, but knowing that it'll be a revenge story, I knew what was going to happen and I was prepared for it. The plot point that I'm talking about didn't make me want to flush the game. It made me seek revenge and that was the force that kept me going, until my mind was so complicated by the masterful storytelling that I didn't even know what I wanted anymore. The game kept me totally on the hook and left me breathless in the end. Visually and gameplay-wise it obviously tops the first one and I had a lot of fun playing through it. The story was emotionally hard experience, but I enjoyed every single second of it. I've played a lot of games during my life. Multiple universally acclaimed titles and I'm brutally honest when I'm saying this: The Last of Us Part 2 is definitely one of the best games I've ever played. I'm really bad with top lists, but this game (together with the first one) belong to the top three. A true masterpiece. Hands down.… Expand

    LoU2 is the greatest action movie I've watched this decade. As a video game is awful. And the first one is also way overrated as a video game. You should be making movies Druckmann, I really enjoyed the story and YOUR characters. Also, amazing work by the graphics team. There are some impressive graphics for such an underpowered console.

    The graphics are absolutely stunning. One of the best looking games created. The combat is also fun. Now that is just about everything good about the game. The story is uninteresting and there is no connection between characters. What made the Last of Us so good in the first place was the story and chemistry between characters.     I like this game, it's something new, gameplay, grafic and music are beautiful.
    But not a Story.
    When I start to play this game I think "That it is, yes! I wait for it so long and now I can enjoy it"

    Just look at the start of story, poor Joel, I know, he must die, but not like that, not at the begining, hell no.
    Abby story sucked.
    The plot could be built differently, I was disgusted to play for Abby, I do not understand why we were given control over her.
    It was an absolutely superfluous story in this game, it was possible to mitigate the motivation for killing Joel in 2-3 cutscenes.
    Throughout the game, I could not express Abby's compassion. I liked Owen more, who was never disclosed as a character.
    Ellie’s motivation at the end of the game is not clear, why, for what?

    Story is trash. If you liked the tlou1 for the great characters, this is not the game for you. All the characters returning and new, are unlikeable, vapid, and unsympathetic no matter how the dev's wanted them to be.

    The game play is uninspired and repetitive. The narrative drags on and on, and seems to have a bizarre fetish for torture and needless violence. This compounds with the jarring ludonarrative dissonance of Ellie choosing to spare abby in the end despite having no problem with the massive body count the average player will inevitably rack up in a playthrough. Overall save your money, wait for a sale, or watch a stream of the story if you for whatever reason just have to experience this illconcieved sequel.    … Expand

The message behind the story is that you can get away with whatever you want as long as you're trans. Not to mention most of the game you play as the villain instead of the main character.… Expand

    First of all, it shows us that in a war, there is no right or wrong, no war is a justified war. All sides are cruel. All sides loses (not only their people, but their very own humanity). It talks about fascism, religion fanaticism, it talks about sexuality, includes different ethnicities (and particularly, as an asian myself, I was very pleased with fellow asian characters).

    But Naughty Dog must’ve felt that wasn’t enough: I have never, in my life, felt so many emotions while playing a game. And not only that, how the game managed to lead my emotions exactly how it wanted to, the way it wanted to. And not just one at a time. A big ball of mixed emotions all together and bursting. I felt love, sadness, anger, empathy, compassion, horror to human cruelty... all apart and together at the same time. And because we, as players just watching those experiences, feel like that, we can understand how big of a mess must be the characters emotions, because theoretically they are living it. And besides all that, the human relations this game has built are so well put together and truly feel genuine. There’s no such thing as black and white. Right ou wrong. Perfect hero or monstrous villain. I lost track how many times my emotions were so all over the place that I actually cried (and not that rolling-down-cute-tears kinda crying, it was the ugly-cry kinda crying). Or how many times I was literally with my mouth open.

    If it were possible to nominate a game to Oscar, I think The Last of Us Part II would deserve to be nominated. This go beyond the gaming world. This is truly a masterpiece. To be able to play it, it was an experience I’m sure I will cherish forever.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have some pretty mixed emotions about the whole story for this game. However, I think it’s important to note that this was a great story, despite people who want to trash talk them killing Joel. What did we really expect? Ellie and Joel would live happily ever after? Since the beginning of the outbreak, Joel had been racking up a list of people that would want him dead, and eventually it would make sense to catch up with him. However there was some missing pieces that I wish we would’ve gotten. I.e. doesn’t Ellie feel guilty because she was inadvertently the reason Joel dies? Prior to finding Owen & Mel, does Abby have some regrets of killing Joel? It’s lightly touched and hinted that the reason she goes back for Yara & Lev was to atone for sins in a way, but it could’ve been touched on more. As always, the graphics were beautiful, the voice acting and music was perfect, and the gameplay was mostly great. The biggest complaint being it got to a point where it felt like you were drudging along. That you just needed to get to the next scene, to the next piece of the story. The never-ending barrage of running all over God’s green Earth began to get agitating. I even felt like I appreciated the game more after beginning Abby’s section, which added some depth other than the jacked **** with the braid who rocked Joel’s world. Overall I think the game is great, however, I think Naughty Dog has some fixing to do if there is to be a third. Perhaps Abby reuniting with the FireFlies and Ellie eventually being able to give a cure with the help of Abby. It has a lot of potential from here to finish the series on a bittersweet note.

    TL;DR: the game is not for the faint of heart. It is definitely a set up for a softer sequel similar to the first game. If you are easily offended by plot lines that aren’t generic, run the other way. But if you’re open to it, there’s a lot to be said, and a lot of places to go from here.    … Expand

Just terrible. And why do they make you play as Abby fighting Ellie and other protagonists. It’s ok that Jesse died I’m fine with that but no one wants to see Ellie get her **** beat like wtf. Ellie does kinda get revenge but at the end it feels Like your defeated or at least for me it did. Last of us 2 gave me a terrible feeling. Naughty Dog needs to fix this. Somehow.… Expand

It's is just a simple revenge story with 1 dimensional characters. The only lesson you could say it teachers is revenge and violence is bad, but when you spend 30 hours doing extremely terrible things, you became numb to the violence and the meaning is lost after the first few hours. The game forces you to do bad things and they goes "OMG LOOK AT THE BAD THING YOU DID". This game not only insults and violates its audience, but it also does the same to the characters and legacy of the first game. I genually felt empty after playing this and have already returned it. The only reason I gave this a 6 is solely for the art and how good it looks. I feel so sorry for the poor people that were forced to work on this for years.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is one of the most beautiful and well crafted games I’ve ever played, it took me a good few days to complete, mainly due to being side tracked soaking in all the beautiful surroundings and side notes that are hidden away.

    This game has been getting a bad reputation because of a certain character and “poor writing” This game does not have any bad writing in it, everything in this game is perfectly placed and well presented if you have the patience to find it.

    After playing the game I felt a great deal of emotion and was left with some burning questions, something that is a hard task for game developers today due to lack of originality.

    The character of Abby is an amazing addition to the world of the last of us, because she teaches us a lot, she teaches us how we mindlessly kill in games and never face the consequence of the actions. Joel faces these consequences, something we never expected because it never happens.

    Abby is a perfect mirror to Ellie, they both set out on a quest of vengeance to avenge their father figures, they both have pregnant companions, Ellie has time in a museum where as Abby has time in an aquarium. Ellie’s love of space and Abby fear of heights.
    It is all so well thought out and planned and I beg that people ignore the hate and play this game with an open mind, for you experience alone.    … Expand

When I first heard people weren't going to like the game, I was nervous about how it would affect me when I experience the game for the first time. I didn't want anyone to die, but Joel did. But is it a bad game? No. Is it a masterpiece? No. This game has flaws, which made me not care about the story. The most fun I had with the game is when I had to get the boat as Abby with my "friend" strangely enough, that kid reminds me of Atreus from the god of war(btw a masterpiece), I enjoyed that mission because of the crazy **** that is happening all around the character, but that's beside the point. Graphics are always good, its naughty dog ofc. The control feels unresponsive from time to time. The combat is the strong point of the game. The way enemies react when their friends die, and they call out their names in anger and sadness, this made me wonder how they would improve from this? The gore is realistic to the point that I stop and sometimes see the enemies' heads on how it was impacted by a bullet. Also, the environment is always breathtaking; I like how detailed every house looks on how they were run down and in ruins, I thought that was cool. In the end, This with death stranding might go down as one of the polar games in recent history; I enjoyed the game just like how I do with a Mario game, don't care about the story, and focus all on gameplay. I give this game a 7/10

El gameplay esta muy bien hecho, los combates tienes que hacerlos mas estratégicos en dificultades altas, guardar recursos, explorar lo mas posible y hacer uso del sigilo. Si la historia no hubiera tenido esos huecos pudo haber sido el mejor juego. El juego me recordó mucho a Metal Gear Solid 2, como si Abby fuera Raiden.     The real downside for me is just the story, this has nothing to do with being against any agenda or whatever you wanna call it. I just thought that the story was very badly written, Characters making cringey bad decision and completely going out of their own way. The game just made me feel bad and akward for about 35-40 hours and it shouldn't be the goal of a game to make you feel bad, right? It should be fun. The only fun you get from TLOU2 however is the technical level of the game, not that feeling and story that it throws at you. I mean Neil Druckmann is the creator of the game and is free to do what he pleases, but making unpopular decisions has to have unpopular consequences as well sometimes and in this case it just crossed a line. I could not enjoy this game, the ending just created a empty, numb feeling, like "thanks for your effort, but all you did was in vain". All in all a great game if the story would've been written decently. The story alone would get 0-1 points, but all-in-all I think that a grand total of 3 points is rectified.    … Expand

    i didnt finish this game. i think this is the only game i didnt merely dislike but actually hated. The game play is bland and everyone is awful while the plot is nonsense that exists merely to deliver obnoxious social commentary.
    environmental graphics are nice and the only reason i didnt give a zero.

We don’t even get our revenge, no instead we forgive the person that killed our father figure. What they advertised is not what we got. The gameplay and visuals are amazing but the story and characters are garbage. Unbelievable, I can not believe that we waited 7 YEARS for this disappointment of “entertainment”. I write this review with the fact that The Last of Us is a story driven game at the forefront. The gameplay was good in the first game but it didnt do anything innovative. The story was the main thing that made the game one of the best of the generation, and for some like myself. the best ever made.
    Graphics:
    Graphics are 100% some of the best on the ps4. There is seldom a moment in which the pure graphical quality and attention to detail in animation falters to a level that would be below amazing. That along with the technical achievements in making it all run smoothly on the ps4 with little to no lag spikes makes it that much more impressive.

    Voice acting:
    Again very well done. The performances from the likes of Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey are excellent. Their performances really coming through with the motion capture. Again, it is stellar and some of the best.
    Now i can't talk about these performances without speaking about the subject matter that they had to work with. The writing is piss poor for dialogue and feels like the highschool fanfiction found on tumblr with awkward exchanges and very odd and quick changes of mood. In some scenes going from full on anger and despair into sudden flirting... Its bad

    Gameplay:
    I said that The Last of Us hadn't done anything innovative in gameplay in the first game, merely refined and executed pre-established gameplay elements with a lot of polish. Out of a sequel one can expect new mechanics that change and improve the way the player can approach encounters while still retaining the feeling of the first game. The Last of Us Part 2... is boring. The gameplay loop is actually less diverse than the first game with the loop being "Find loot in large area, fight in big area". Thats really about it. There are fewer environmental puzzles than the first game had which emphasized the repetitiveness of the gameplay, even more so as the game is about twice the length of the first. I am a stealth player personally, and even I found the game boring to play after about 10 or so hours. From what ive seen from other players on youtube, the game heavily leans towards this option with the occasional "run and gun" mandatory section.

    Storytelling:
    Ok, now this part is where things get... real bad. The story is nonsensical. Overall feels like a bad misery porn fanfiction written by someone that abhorred the characters of the first game with a passion. All the characters have nothing but bleak and misery in this game, with the seldom "cute" moment between Ellie and Dina to try and make the player care about their relationship. I didn't come to care for this at all. Even with Naughtydog trying their hardest by making Dina a sort of lover in distress and making her pregnant in a horrible world in hostile territory. It felt shallow and that I was almost literally being told "hey hey hey, see this? this sucks right? look its depressing so feel bad for them".

    Now for Joel. This hurt dude, and not in a good way. It hurt because it was out of character, stupid, coincidence heavy and had no context whatsoever when it happened. Joel and Tommy in the first game survived by not trusting others and doing anything to stay alive for decades. No way in hell am I going to believe that just because theyve been in a settlement for a couple years suddenly they are going to grow out of all those habits, give their names to Abby when they save her life, and then no less follow her to a house with her friends that Joel and Tommy have no reason to trust. This emphasized by the fact that the only reason for it, is that theres a blizzard and they need shelter... WHEN THEY ARE IN A TOWN FULL OF SHELTER THEY CAN GO INTO. LIKE BRUH WTF. Joels death was disrespectful, disgusting, dumb, and horribly executed. I am ok with the fact of him dying, but not like this.

    Abby was put into this game with no context when she killed Joel, only having that context tried to me shoehorned in at the halfway point to try and make the player sympathize. In short, it didn't work. I couldn't be bothered whatsoever when playing as her to give a damn and almost made me drop the game altogether. Her relationship segments and flashbacks were cringe at best. The game entirely retconning the other dozen cases of immume subjects found in voice logs that all died for nothing made this even harder to play and watch during cutscenes. Abby is a horrible character, badly written with next to no reason for me to like her or sympathize outside of the fact that she had her father die.

    The ending only cemented the dumb nature of this game, and how even the writers themselves couldnt justify their own story. Having a trivial flashback right as Ellie is about to drown Abby that makes her stop. This after the hundreds of people she killed to find her made the entire game pointless; leaving Abby to win and get away with her revenge. While Ellie lost everything.    … Expand

    to start off, the graphics are very impressive and also the slight improvements to combat and stealth systems are very welcome but i think what the game lacks, and is quite important to the last of us is the story. i don't think the story is as bad as people say it is nor do i think it is better or even close to how good TLOU was. Is it fair to say the reason why people don't like the story is because of LGBT inclusion? absolutely not. i think it is ridiculous to say that people hate this game because of that. sure, it might be the reason that a VERY select few dislike the game but i feel this criticism of people who disliked the game has been completely blown out of the water. i would like to point out that i have no problem with gay people or trans people and i feel like i need to saw that which to me is also very ridiculous, it is very clear in The last of us DLC that Ellie is attracted to women, is that problem? no. is Abby being trans a problem? No, not at all. my problem with the use of a trans character in a game that is set 25 years into a zombie apocalypse, im fairly certin there are more important things to worry about than wanting to transition from male to female.

    Talking more about what happens to Joel, i tihnk that it was fairly obvious that something bad was going to happen to him. of course he is a beloved character and nobody including my self wanted something to happen to him but unfortunately, thats the way it worked out. Joel definitly deserved to go out in a more fitting way for his character but what has been done is done.

    THE ENDING....

    This for me is the reason why i decied to write this. is it a good ending? no, absolutly not. is it a bad ending? definitly not as bad as people are saying it is. of course people are entitled to their opinions of how the ending is but i feel like it is exactly how naughty dog wanted the game to end, no one really wins. Ellie can't play the geetar, she loses dina and the baby, she loses joel and id say she loses herself in that she is no longer the bright spark that we know her to be while she is younger. Abby too loses everything, she loses her friends, her love interest and her ties to what is practicaly her family (The WLF) and i feel that having this ending of Ellie leaving behind the guitar is pretty much leaving her past behind and she is walking away from it. one thing im scared of is seeing a TLOS part 3 which i hope is jesus never comes true as seeing Abby escape on the boat with lev makes me feel like this is what naughty dog are trying to do.

    Now. i gave this game a very unstable 6 as i feel like TLOU Part 2 still manages to capture the emotion of how we feel about Joel and Ellie. i cried when Joel died and i the amazing flashbacks of Joel and ellie made me tear up every time i saw them, even now when i watch the museum one it really makes me tear up. overall 2 of the 6 rating is for the story, its not a bad story but it is not good. the other 4 for the rating is based on the graphics and gameplay, im not having these things as the main factors to my rating because as i mention TLOU and TLOU Part 2 are dependent on the story to bed good. bad story = bad game.

    6/10 is my final score. good graphics, average gameplay and a fairly poor story but definitly not as bad as people say    … Expand

Check this out guys, we went from a sad story that was all about finding hope and meaning in life in a post-apocalyptic world to literal MISERY p0rn where nobody can be happy, except the main antagonist. The story is a basic af 'revenge' plot, where they turn Ellie into a straight up psychopath who only feels remorse in cutscenes for some weird reason while murdering over a HUNDRED of human beings over the course of the game. And when the time for the actual revenge on the only person who ACTUALLY WRONGED YOU and was not somewhat innocent, Abby, they DONT LET YOU KILL HER. They take away the control from the player and don't let you get the satisfaction of murdering the SheHulk. Wow.
    Somewhere on the way there, you witness your father figure be brutally murdered. Later into the game, you are forced to beat the s--- out of Ellie because they force you to control the SheHulk monster called Abby. You have to press buttons and have to win the hand-to-hand combat duel with Ellie. This game breaks my heart. F--- you, Neil who directed this garbage and f--- you, Naughty Dog.    … Expand

They introduce you to a character SPOILER that kills one of the most beloved Sony characters(not a problem you have my attention) , but then you make the player take control of the person for 10+ hours of mediocre story plots that is suppose to make you care. I understand where Abby was coming from , but doesn’t mean I want to play as her for a majority of the game . If ND is interested in narrative experimentation in playing as a character's killer, then I think a new IP would have been the place to do it. Don't spit in the face of the fans. I loved TLOU 1. But if u really really liked the first game to the point where it’s up there for your favorite games of all time, like me, you will be severely disappointed. Sure I guess in certain parts it gets better. But if u really really liked the first game to the point where it’s up there for your favorite games of all time, like me, you will be severely disappointed.     Excellent storyline that puts your feels in a place fitting for the current world. Ashley Johnson brings Ellie to life, as usual. The mechanics stay true to the original with a couple of extras added. Well worth purchasing.

Pero el fuerte de este juego siempre fue la narrativa y ahi es donde decae. Se pierden muchas cosas del primero, no puedo dejar de compararlo y pensar qie la segunda parte fue innecesaria. La cagaron en muchos aspextos, los nuwvos personajes nisiquiera te llegan a importar.… Expand

    There is a difference between being a bad game and hating the game. I personally hated the game because I experienced so many emotions while playing it. That does not mean it’s a bad game. This game is a solid 9/10 in my book.

    This game has given me a gigantic moral lesson that revenge can destroy you. I'm seeing life with other eyes, this game has changed something in me. I can't explain it but this game is simply one of the best I've ever played in my life.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
