    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is a masterpiece. So Where to start?. The gameplay is phenomenal with some of the best stealth gameplay I’ve ever seen. The option to craft silencers as well as going prone actually make a huge difference. The animations set the bar for the gaming industry. Gustavo Santaolella has composed the soundtrack so well, it really makes the game experience so damn good. The sound design is amazing and playing with headphones increases the tension of each encounter, I’d highly recommend it. The graphics are some of
    best I’ve ever seen, it truly looks next gen. Now last but not least, the story. The story will definitely polarize players. It has some narrative choices that you may not like but as the story continues, these narrative choices make sense and ultimately work with the game’s theme of hate and the cycle of violence and how it challenges your notion of hero vs villain. In this game there are no heroes or villains, there are just people. The new characters are amazing. I’ll say that the supporting characters in Part II are much better than in the first game. But I’d say the best new character is Abby. The way her plot line was handled could have been executed a bit better. They could have made you play as her first and show her motives before a major event happened. Dina and Ellie’s relationship was amazing and I’d say Joel and Ellie were better but this was still an awesome relationship. The ending will divide everyone but I personally believe it shows redemption in an awesome way. Overall the game does have some flaws such as the way Abby’s plotline was handled but ultimately the game is a masterpiece and I would rate it as one of the best games of this generation. I still can’t decide between it or Red Dead Redemption 2. Thank you to Naughty Dog for blowing me away once again. I would recommend this game, despite all the review bombing and flaws a play through is most definitely worth it.    … Expand

    J'ai fini le jeu en Difficile et j'ai commencé en survivant+ (je vous le recommande pour plus d'immersion).
    Le point de vue adopté par le scénario est incroyable de sens et donne à réfléchir sur nos propres prises de décision et sur les conséquences que cela peut engendrer. Les relations entre les principaux protagonistes sont abouties mais laissent un peu en plan certains personnage    J'ai fini le jeu en Difficile et j'ai commencé en survivant+ (je vous le recommande pour plus d'immersion).

    Le système d'infiltration et de combat est encore mieux et la petite touche de customisation est appréciable. Dommage que la caméra soit trop centrée sur le personnage lors des modifications des armes. Le peu de défauts qu'on pouvait repérer dans le premier opus en termes de jouabilité est corrigé. Quant aux combats de boss, je n'ai jamais été autant partagé sur l'issue des affrontements.
    J’applaudis la prise de risque sur l'histoire racontée et je félicite les développeurs pour le travail rendu. Cette suite est digne du premier opus mais demandera un certain travail sur soi pour les personnes les moins ouvertes d'esprit. Je l'attendais avec impatience et je ne suis pas déçu.

    TLoU2 is excellent, understand that a lot of hate comes from people frustrated by being an exclusive, by the representativeness and/or by the unexpected ending - and if you really played and tried to understand the proposal of the game, you know it was an excellent ending. It doesn't always have to be a happy ending.

    After finally completing the last of us 2, after a 7 year wait, I can assure u I was not dissapointed.     After finally completing the last of us 2, after a 7 year wait, I can assure u I was not dissapointed. Again, these will be brief Graphics. There hasn’t been a game on the ps4 or ps4 pro that looks as real,smooth and clean as the last of us 2 does. The first one set it standards high for its time just as this one does here. The motion capture is phenomenal to the point where I forgot I was watching a game. The detail in all the characters faces were just impeccable and have not been competed by any other game yet. The physics is a big part of the graphics imo and excel to the point I was jaw wide shocked. No game has competed with these graphics

    2. Gameplay. 1 issue, and the only one, I had with the first game was the gameplay at times could be a bit dull. It was rare, but I found myself doing the same things over and over again. So I was worried for this new games gameplay system. I didn’t think they would do a good job, but I was wrong and believe this is the most realistic gameplay ever. The melee weapons feel heavy and clunky and I couldn’t help but notice the extreme levels of details all animations, swings and such went too. It was extremely satisfying to get the last hit of a machete to the neck of an enemy.

    3. Story. I will say it now, I have never been so shocked and moved by a story to date. The way this story moves forward is so unexpected and is similar to the writing you see in masterpiece movies. The story introduces some new characters that you get attached to instantly with well written writing. Escpeiclaly a new main character/villain follows ideas that are just as noble as Ellie’s. I could go on and on about the story, but it is different and I don’t think a game will ever get as good as a storyline than this masterpiece.

    Verdict. Last of us 2 is a game that excels in everything the first game did, and then some. It’s truly the greatest in most of its aspects such as gameplay, story and graphics. Last of us 2, in my opinion, is the greatest game of all time, even slightly better than its predeseccor.

    I literally don't understand the hate and it is really disappointing to see it. The story is amazing, I get if what happens isn't what people want and admitting I didn't like the story in the beginning it does pick up and it made me like the beginning better. Please don't judge the game by the user reviews. I would say this game has more shock factor and is so graphic.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely terrible, boring and lazy plot, betraying all the characters we have come to know in TLOU previously. You will see all the online critics excuse the low user score as reviews bombing by haters and that people who reviewed this have very few hours into the gameplay so their opinion does not matter. No, I don't need to sit through the entire 3 hrs of Batman v Superman to feel that the movie is boring and pointless. The plot of this game makes characters act completely out of character like Joel who were always overly cautious and suspicious of others suddenly declare his infamous name in front of a bunch of militia; or Ellie who has zero internal struggle in morality when it comes to killing off dozens of people who merely associated to Abby who murdered Joel, but when it comes to the actual perpetrator of the crime, Abby, somehow Ellie feels conflicted, despite Abby even bit off two fingers of hers and render her no longer able to play guitar. Well-written and complex characters that we have grown to love from the first game is killed off for cheap shock value. I never disagree that Joel should die. But his death should complete his arc and requires more buildup. Anyone can spend 5mins and think of a better story buildup than this unprofessional writing.

    Besides, while you can claim the review score is biased from the review bombing from haters, you can very well say the same for the online critics who are used as a marketing tool for the industry. Therefore for me it sounds like a convenient excuse for the overwhelming negative reviews. By passing off negative comments as "haters" and "bigots" for reasons against LGBT, you never have to address how bad this game truly is.

    What a waste of my time this game has been. I can't believe I actually waited nearly 7 years for this piece of trash. I actually hate myself for playing and completing this game, even ruining the replayability for the first game for me since now I know how trash the ending is. But what do I know right? I am just a cis male with a fragile masculinity who obviously hate the game for the fact that Ellie is a lesbian and Abby looks like a dude with only 3 days in after the game is released, so my opinion doesn't matter.    … Expand

    I love the first game. Especially the ending made you question your position in the story, and who you really are. In the Last of us Part 2, this happens all the time.     How can you take meta critic seriously?
    Most critic reviews speak little about the game itself and a lot about how "Politically brave" it is. My god has the gaming industry fallen low.

    This game is horrible. Terrible writing to the point I can only think of it as a parody of the former game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I played TLOU part one, I kept thinking, what a tragedy that even when the world ends, we still find reasons to kill one another. During part two I kept thinking how pointless revenge is, that it destroys you as much as it does them.

    In both games, a person's inability to let go has devastating consequences - Joel dooms the world because he can't bear to lose another 'baby girl'. Ellie burns everything good remaining in her life to avenge the traumatic death of Joel.

    A lot of people have left bad reviews here because they rejected that death - and this is exactly the point of it. We can reject that death, we can demand a rewrite of a story. But Ellie can't. Because for her, this story is real life, and you can't rewrite life when it doesn't suit you. Thus, we feel her trauma deeply ourselves - how dare they make this happen to olur beloved Joel?

    But does that mean the story is bad? No, I don;t think so, on the contrary.

    First of all, let's face it, of COURSE Joels actions at the end of part one would have consequences, who really doubted this? I so dearly wished Joel had survived, but I can't deny the simple truth: he had it coming.

    TLOU2 drives this home in a masterful way, by switching perspective to the bad guys halfway through. Seen from the perspective of Abby, Joel is the bad guy. We learn that Abby has been affected by the death of her father in much the same way Ellie was by Joel's. We learn that even Abby's friends were shocked by how she killed Joel; and as we see Ellie's actions from the other side, we get the uncomfortable feeling that maybe Ellie is the bad guy here. Once she did to Nora what she did, she basically became Abby. And if we can empathize with Ellie at that point, we should be able to empathize with Abby too.

    Ellie as the bad guy. That is a hard pill to swallow, and a lot of the bad reviews reflect this. But again, that was the point - Ellie lost her way. And even though at the last moment she spared Abby, pulled back from the brink, and saved her soul, it is a pyrrhic victory, because she lost everything else.

    I don't think the bad reviews here are being fair to TLOU2. For me, the story worked. I was dismayed by what happened, but I compeltely accepted it. And I did empathize with Abby. The ending of TLOU1 was ambiguous; here the entire story is. Who is the good guy here? Who is the bad guy?

    Don't let the bad reviews discourage you - this game is a masterpiece.    … Expand

    Half of these people review bombing either don't have the game or don't even have a ps4. The game is amazing, yes the story is polarizing because of a certain death but **** happens. Not everything is rainbows and happiness. The fact we have to play as the antagonist imo is a con and completely unnecessary. But everything else is amazing! Also Dina is awesome

Thank god i didnt get the ellie edition instead of standard just get red dead redemption 2 or god of war you wont regret a cent. Riddled with plot holes, out-of-character moments, illogical behavior, and terrible plot choices, The Last of Us Part 2 disintegrates everything that fans of the previous game loved — the relationship between Joel and Ellie. Two hours into the game, a main character is killed without context by somebody random, then you play as this random character, hunting another main character at some point, almost killing that main character. Two hours in, I no longer wanted to play the game. I found myself rooting for my “enemy” main character to kill my controlled character. Other times, I made my controlled character jump off cliffs because this is the only move that made sense, given what she did to the main characters we loved. Instead of developing the relationship between Joel and Ellie to the end, this game simply rips it to shreds in 2 hours out of a 25-30 game. Do not buy.… Expand

Some of the most detailed and breathtaking views I’ve experienced in a lifetime of gaming which a gripping and well written story as well as fluid and intuitive mechanics all at a balanced pace which moves from stealth to action to relaxed story telling all the while keeping the player engaged and wanting more. A must play.

    From the day I got it I had a hard time stop playing, I loved every aspect of it. The gameplay is intense and it works as it should be, the combat is brutal and realistic.     Stunning graphics and thoroughly enjoyable gameplay was all squandered by the writing and storyline of the game that was supposed to pick up where the first game drew us in at. Very disappointed in their decision with the story and nothing makes up for it or even makes me want to continue playing the game. Such a disservice to honestly, one of the gaming industry's best character.

Looks like Sony got their devoted fans to spam this game with 10s cause it's not allowed to have a bad user score. and since you are here thinking about to defend this game's generic third person game-play that feels like a straight up copy of the tomb-raider reboot, or the story that quite frankly takes cues from saturday morning cartoons for it's attempt to make you sympathise with a killer by making her pet dogs and help people while the main character that tries to avenge her father figure is made to look as bad as the writer was able to by making her kill hundreds of people, some dogs and a pregnant woman. the theme of "revenge bad" is also completely lost since Abby got her revenge on Joel and gets to go home completely scot-free while Ellie stops her revenge at the last second due to a short vision of Joel's dead corpse. how does seeing a vision of your father figure's lifeless and beaten up body make you stop killing the person who made him this way? i honestly don't know, it makes no sense. so yeah Dr. "100 brains" Uckmann is a hack who only got the last of us to work cause Bruce Straley was probably keeping him in check. if you are some schmuck from twitter you would be askin if i would bring up that i liked the first one and that i am disappointed with this gmae. sorry to disappoint you cause i thought the first one was just an alright 7.… Expand

Further, we can see Ellie's moral suffering from the murder of Nora and other WLF members - WHAT, SERIOUSLY? after Ellie killed about 50 people before that, in cold blood with a knife in the throat, can she still have any remorse? - Druckmann "genius" yes, he is just a god, "expert" in psychology! then we have some kind of a flashback with a conversation from the past where Ellie finds out that Joel killed everyone and why... STOP what is that??!! here the plot collapses completely because inadequacy rolls over, and if Ellie knew for what they killed Joel and should have understood that Joel got what he deserved at the beginning and thus there should be no further game at all! Further inadequate actions - when meeting a pregnant Mel and her husband in a conversation they said that Abby disappeared and may already be dead but don’t want to give up where she is and then they attack and got killed - yes this is exactly how a woman behaves on the 7-8th month of pregnancy and her husband protecting her, Druckmann is a genius, what a turn, genius, this shows him as an "expert" in psychology and a "talented" screenwriter.

    why they even exist? game lore presentation? ok, but they are meaningless passages of scribble to be read, they contain 0 information! and these cards, why they even exist, what the purpose?
    GENERAL PLOT ISSUES
    teenagers as main characters in the first part of the game, acting like pros and cooler than any trained mercenary, indestructible cyborgs, the terminator rests aside... what? teenager killers in
    the post-apocalyptic world, genius, Druckmann is a genius, what a turn, no, cheap Netflix style plot!
    weapon improvement system is stupid and not immersive - we collect bolts and nuts and making an optical sight, compensator, etc... how? from bolts? it would be more adequate to find them in the open-world, all these compensators, scopes, rather than “craft”, from bolts. immersive feeling suffers greatly when you see something like this, casual upgrades for upgrades just because we need weapon upgrades. Next, we have the fact that melee weapons break from blows, am I silly or HOW the hammer or an axe - AXE! can break from chopping human flesh? - this shows Druckmann's fail in creativity and his impotence as a game designer who could not come up with gameplay where it would be necessary to change weapons and thus making artificial barriers in the gameplay, which simply looks stupid and not immersive at all! Why the gun, unlike the axe, does not break after 6 shots, ok, I see, according to Druckmann's vision the axe is a much more complicated mechanism, that's why - genius!
    GRAPHICS AND SOUND
    In general, game graphical realization and sound are VERY GOOD, my respect, this is 10 out of 10, the Naughty Dog technical team made it well, but there are minor flaws if you look carefully, e.g. the grass sways in layers like a sheet, unrealistic jumping animations are just awful, done clumsy and unrealistic, like a super Mario game, sometimes Jesse may lose his hair and became bald, but it's trifles.

    Thank you, you really hit the energy of 2020 and made it a nonsensical s....show. The critic reviews being all positive shows how deep these nerds are in the pockets of the developers. The actual user rating reflects how much of a slap in the gamer communities’ face this game is. From the deeply immersive, emotional and exhilarating the wonderful adventure we got to enjoy in the first part. Now it plays on bland revenge without any emotional depth and a non captivating narrative.

    Unfortunately, it does not give you any reason to play it again. It's a story based game which means that having a bad story ruins the gameplay. Graphics etc. can't save that.
    The game also has a lot of annoying interactions, buzzles are boring and b4hand praised weapon etc. animations are full and stupid.

    I knew Joel was going to die since the very first trailer came out, it was the only thing that made sense for Ellie’s character arc moving forward. A lot of the people giving the game bad reviews either didn’t play it and are basing it purely on what they read on the leaks, or are mad that the story didn’t go exactly how they wanted it too. But the thing is, if a game’s story was so easy to guess it would be a pretty boring story. The way Naughty Dog handled this story was nearly perfect. It kept surprising me at every turn. I didn’t always like the way the story went, but I’m pretty sure that that’s the point. You can’t control the outcome of everything in life, you can’t control what other people do, especially in a lawless world like this one.

    Another thing that deserves praise is the way this game humanizes ‘the bad guys’. Everything from Abby’s story to little dialogue between npc’s makes us sympathize a little more with them. They are just trying to survive, just like the people in Jackson, though I personally think the WLF were still kinda bad.

    By making you play as Abby and experiencing her life and her relationships to others, the game makes it clear that not everything in life is black and white. Joel has murdered hundreds of parents, siblings, partners, sons and daughters. He left a trail of blood wherever he went. Everything he’s done was bound to catch up to him sooner or later. And that’s not saying Joel’s actions weren’t justified, in fact I think the Fireflies and Abby’s dad were a bunch of idiots for only running a couple of tests and immediately killing the only hope for a vaccine without properly studying Ellie’s condition and the fungus’ behavior over time. But no one brought that up, instead Joel just massacred them.

    Also, some people seem to be angry about Ellie letting Abby go in the end. But her doing that makes sense. She understands that what Joel did was unforgivable, that by killing Abby’s friends she continued the cycle of hatred. Abby tried to break that cycle by letting them go in Seattle, she even refuses to fight Ellie at first in California. I think that while drowning Abby, Ellie understood two things. One: killing Abby won’t bring Joel back or make her nightmares stop, only she can do that by herself. And two: if she kills Abby she would have to kill Lev too, otherwise he would hunt her and the cycle of hatred and revenge would go on and on. It was the same choice that Kratos failed to do at the end of God of War. By letting Abby go Ellie could truly move on to a happier life.

    By the way, every single flashback with Joel made extremely emotional, never before has any piece of media made me feel so much loss and sorrow. By the time the end credits rolled I was a sobbing mess. And when I finally managed to calm down they play that cover duet with Joel and Ellie. That was simultaneously a beautiful thing and a dick move. After that I spent around 20 minutes crying like a baby.

    All in all, The Last of Us Part 2 is a beautiful game with a brilliant story, magnificent visuals, and amazing gameplay. It is definitely my favorite game ever made. I 120% recommended playing it.    … Expand

Joel's death was necessary, but the way it happened, how it happened was a fiasco. Joel was a veteran of that world, fought for decades in that horrible environment. Joel didn't trust people right of the bat, but with Abby, he just straight up gave his REAL name and went to where Abby's group was located... Joel's death was even more meaningless for the fact he didn't even know who Abby was... Joel died to a **** random ass person in his point of view!!! That's why he would never trust someone just like that!!! Joel deserved a better a way to go... And then after having Joel die like that, you have to play as **** Abby.     People really Reviewbomb this gem? Story was great with a lot of twists and unexpected moments. I can recommend this game to anybody who loves games.

    El juego no es para nada malo, de hecho es excelente, creo que adelantó mucho de lo que veremos en futuros juegos, como és la inteligencia mucho mas *inteligente* enemigos que no solo estan dando vueltas si no que realmente te estan buscando y buscan matarte a toda costa, es una tension que no habia sentido en otro juego, nó es tan lineal, lo que le da un toque de experiencia deEl juego no es para nada malo, de hecho es excelente, creo que adelantó mucho de lo que veremos en futuros juegos, como és la inteligencia mucho mas *inteligente* enemigos que no solo estan dando vueltas si no que realmente te estan buscando y buscan matarte a toda costa, es una tension que no habia sentido en otro juego, nó es tan lineal, lo que le da un toque de experiencia de exploración, la Historia es buena por que es congruente, desde el primer juego vimos que era un mundo cruel y hostil, y nadie esperaba que lo que hizo Joel al final, osea literal le quito la cura a la humanidad y nos dejó con un sabor agridulce a la hora de ver los créditos.     Amazing game that have some of the best gameplays ever done and really realistic, and it has his up and down moments of the story it’s a mix of emotions. Recommended to fans and gamers!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. الجرافكس كان لا بأس به لكن مو افضل من هورايزن أحسه كان عادي. اللعب او القميم بلاي هو هو من 2013 ماتغير الا أشاء بسيطة. المضاربة تحسنت عن أول.. غير كذا القصة زبالة. جول يموت على يد متحولة جنسيا. لاه وتلعب فيها كمان وتضارب مع ايلي. بعدين شوية ينقلوك لشخصية ايلي وتلعب فيها.

    هذا غير التريلر الي كانوا لاعبين فيه. لمن جول مسك ايلي من وراء. جوت اللعبة ماهو جول, لكن في التريلر كان جول.. كذب واضح لا بارك الله فيهم.

    ناهيك عن السترايكات الي كانوا يوزعوها على اي شخص يلفظ اسم اللعبة على يوتيوب ويقول كلمة سيئة. وغير المراجعين المدفوع لهم عشان يسبوا اي شخص حط تقييم سلبي على اللعبة. بجاحة مو طبيعية    … Expand

Mano pra resumir a merda, Joel o personagem que deu o jogo da década pra naughty Dog foi morro que nem um saco de bosta pra uma personagem terciária que acabou de ser introduzida no game, fizeram da Ellie uma cagona com piedade, e Abby a vítima do jogo sendo que ela assassino o protagonista do the last 1. A story that's driven only by revenge and nothing else... and that's a step back from the original, which had a HUGE HEART in the middle of it. Character progession is tangibile only on the skill trees, not in the development of the protagonist... TLOU2 is what the Lost Legacy was forGorgeous visuals, smooth gameplay, well-crafted world... and a main character you can't emphatize with.     Сначала одна девка убивает десятки людей чтобы отомстить за батю, потом другая девка так же убивает десятки людей чтобы отомстить мстителю, потом мститель пачками убивает своих вчерашних друзей и знакомых чтобы защитить рандомную девку(пацана) помладше и добраться до той кто ей отомстила за то что она отомстила.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
