    I just finished the game today and now I’m writing my very first MC review. The game itself is solid and I love everything about it. There were a couple of minor issues that might reduce it to 9.5 but that’s it. I know a lot of people are pissed because certain character died and how they died. This is pretty much beyond video game. It has so much things going on from multiple angles. Every character is livid and different. I feel such deep connection with some of them. Joel, Owen, Tommy, and of course Ellie and Abby. Everything from the story telling to music to graphic to gameplay are brilliant.… Expand

I have to admit the game is beautiful, but if you are a gamer that plays for the story. You'll have a bad time trying to rationalize the story. The magic of the first game is lost. In the first The Last of Us, you grow with a character that goes from grumpy old man, to a father who has something to live for. You experience Ellie's struggle as a survivor. You experience the joy of a father and a daughter's love BUT Part II's story doesn't continue the fatherhood story line. You end up having Joel becoming a side character. A ghost of Christmas past if you will. Ellie's goes full Punisher on this game and it doesn't feel deserved. My only regret is hoping Part II would echo any magic from the first game.… Expand

They showed us how a hero in one story is a villain in others and they gave us the best ending we could ever get. The world is not perfect, human are not perfect.     I am very dissapointed with approach that Naughty dog writers took. Its just really bad. Gameplay is fine not much improvement on original PS3 title but will do, nothing amazing. Its a interactive movie with survival/action/shooting sequences. Visuals and level design is absolutely top within this generation of consoles. The last of us part 2 delivers a strange choice for a follow up story: disrespects the stablished characters, is poorly developed and becomes a real mess from the middle on.     Too bad they buried a very good game. Unfortunately it is impossible to make a refund as in steam, I am very disappointed, not sure if I can go through the game to the end. I am a very strong fan of the first part and probably went through it more than 12 times, but the second part is a shame. Boring is not an interesting story, but SJW activists will be happy with 10/10.

    Un videojuego divertido. Sin duda me ha logrado entretener tanto como el primero. Si bien esta secuela ha carecido de esa gran historia que nos presentó el juego original; aún es un juego sumamente disfrutable. Recomendable para todos los fans, sin llegar a ser un juego brillante o que merezca una nominación al GOTY

The game took what we loved about the first part and burned it right to the ground with this one. They killed of Joel in the first 2 hours of the game, an that too he died in the most uncharacteristic way. You can't knock the game for that.. But the story itself was terrible. And the political messages are really in your face, political messages are fine but it was too distracting in this game and took away form my enjoyment. I got 80% done with the story but i just couldn't finish the game because it just didn't keep my interest because i felt too much resentment from the writers. And it is completely valid to write a review on a game you didn't complete if you at least played more then half of that game, because it is on the game itself to maintain your interest.

    - good gameplay and graphics
    - if you're a fan of the story then this is basically a **** you" with a political insert

    Graphics and animations are really good, it's really amazing how they achieved this on the console.

    I rewatched trailers many times while waiting for release...

    But the story and characters are way too bland, which makes playing it really boring.

    Don't waste your money on this if you still can.

    I'm done naughty dog. Perfect addition to 2020. So disappointed. The characters were unrecognisable and acted completely out of character, no choices in what we are forced to do and a silly pandering message at the end. Thanks but no thanks

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First I want to say I have played this game and its entirety, so this is my honest thoughts on the game.

    Likes:
    - The Graphics are amazing like we all new they would be.
    - The voice and Audio in the game is also amazing
    - animations are some of the best I've seen in recent years
    Cons
    - They story leaves a lot to be desired ( I'll give more detail below)
    - Game play is the same from 2013 with a few tweaks here and there
    - For a story game it's extremely linear in how you play the story with no option of differentiation
    - Most Characters are dull and uninteresting i.e ( Abby, Lev, jesse, dina, owen, mel)
    - Game seems to force a lot of progressiveness all at once to the player
    - I had no urge to ever want to replay this game or even watch this game again.
    - Character development is almost non existent

    Summary: I don't want to sound like I'm ranting but this game was really awful to play and I don't say that because a MC died that I liked. I say that because the Story isn't fluid and jumps around to much between the characters Abby and Ellie. Furthermore the plot of this story is one of revenge which is fine if executed correctly. Unfortunately this story is not one of them, as your forced to play as a character that you, the player want to get revenge against. Then your forced feed flash backs of their life so that you can pity them which at this point is impossible because of who they killed just mins prior to playing them. Then when you switch back to the character you want to play as and start hunting down abby, they suddenly have a change of heart while killing them. Which leads to abby leaving and escaping victorious in her mission of revenge.

    ND tried to be to complex and to progress with this story which I think bit them in the ass because the writing did not live up to anything. It left me as a player in a state of why did I spend money on this.    … Expand

    1. A way of protesting against the way the trailers lied to the audience. For me, thats not marketing, thats lack of respect for the players who loved this story since The Last of Us.

    2. Because of the choices in the story, i dont care anymore about graphics and gameplay, im even sorry for that, i know im just wrong and angry, but the Zero score will remain there.
    The story felt for me like if Abby was the new protagonist, a sociopat one. And Joel was the villan..
    None of that was necessary, i would say that not even Joels death was necessary in my opinion. A good sequence, for me, would have been a good one just by focusing on the relationship betwen Ellie and Joel, maybe something around the lie that Joel kept from Ellie for so long. I would be already happy.
    I dont know, im just sad for Joel, all that suffering was pointless.    … Expand

    The failed the characters and everything the first game build, just like s8 of GOT its really impressive but it actually has no soul or loyalty to the fans or characters, and no respect to the first game.

    The story is wonderful and well built. Who didn't like it is because they didn't understand about how the protagonist evolved throughout the game and the whole psychological aspect behind it.

There are so many games that work perfectly by repeating the mechanics of each mission (Spiderman Ps4, all the assassin's Creed games, Shadow of the colossus, and many more that repeat mechanics), but for some reason everyone is unhappyI find the game to be great.     A disappointment when looking back at the first one, but still a good game. The pacing of the story was really bad for the first couple of hours, but once you actually get into Seattle and the game starts throwing more enemies at you the game becomes incredibly fun and hard to put down. The enemy AI can be really **** sometimes though

Im not hating the Ellies sexual orientation beucase was established in the DLC, there`s no problem. But how I trainned man like Joel trust someone from nothing, theres no explanation, also saying your name. Also the narrative choices were not the best decisions. Very Very desappointed. There's not way he (and probably even Tommy) would have allowed themselves to waltz into a room full of strangers and not even be armed????? Then we're forced to play as a woman none of us relate to all in an attempt to prove that revenge is wrong? Abby is only ever stopped from killing people because some weenie tells her to. Not to mention that we have to fight Ellie at the end and she's programmed like a dunce when the first game clearly portrayed her as a girl very capable in combat, there were so many opportunities where Ellie could have killed Abby but nooooo muh plot. There's a reason no other company has pushed games that make you play as the villain, it doesn't work. The game is gorgeous and the game-play is alright but the story is hot garbage.… Expand

There are infinitely many better ways of killing off Joel but this game just chose to be bad. Joel also lost sense of guard which is not his usual attitude and this clearly highlights the weak depth of story-writing. The prequel attracts lots of people mainly with the story and the sequel should also do the same but the game just threw away hope for the fans. Also, the ending is just speechless. You got to play as someone who murdered Joel who was a father-figure like to Ellie brutally in front of her and when she eventually met her, she just forgave everything and just let her go? Are you serious Naughty Dog? I am really disappointed.… Expand

However, the story is not what I would call “bad” and its parts directly linked to the first one are as awesome as it was in the first game. The thing is, TLOU1 has set the bar too damn high.
