This isn't about anyone's sexuality; the story is utter **** Just as the final confrontation arrives, Naughty Dog pulls an M. Night Shyamalan twist and decides that no, we will not have the satisfaction that the character, the player and the story deserves. I will not be purchasing another Naughty Dog product.     The best game I have ever played.It was compeletly a different story wich you cant see in any game but maybe somebody dont like it. I like it ..... no I love it so much.

    The harder and controversial part, the story: No other game has provoked so many emotions as this one and not always pleasant. It forces to feel and deal with themes in the same way as the characters. The zero's scores are from the pain and anger that it generates, and I understand them.     No other game has provoked so many emotions as this one and not always pleasant. It forces to feel and deal with themes in the same way as the characters. The zero's scores are from the pain and anger that it generates, and I understand them. When a character dies, we feel it. When we presence a loving character going in a dark path, we suffer. The way it's presented is cruel and real. It isn't a pleasant game. It makes you think about the people you have lost, the decisions you make, the way you empathise with others, etc. It really questions your humanity.

    TLOU focus on the generation that was born before apocalypse. The stories are mostly told through them: Joel, Tess, Marlene, Bill, Henry, David. They justify their methods, ideals and violence in a world full of infected in order to survive. Ellie is the hope for the humankind and Joel is a teacher and father.

    TLOU2 focus on how the new generation, that have never seen a different world and, has inherit the same ideals and violence. It focus on their pains and lack of purpose in life. After all, what can you aspire to be in this world? Can you choose your own path? Can you find a purpose that doesn't require some sort of violence? Are you even allowed to be good or happy?

    We, as players, are forced to experience this. Not always we agreeing with the characters, the story forces us to enter on the same mindset of pain, anger, hate, violence and, all of a sudden, in the middle of the game, it requested you to step out of it... Oh, boy!

    Naughty dog took a huge risk here. In my opinion, it totally works. I don't know any other medium that can push themes out of the story and put it on your hands and hearth. You have a decision at that point. Would you conquer your anger and pain and continue to play, or do you shutdown and refuse to let them go?

    This game is a prove of what this form of art can do. It pushes the boundaries of this art to another level. I understand the negatives reviews from what it makes us feel, special if you cannot handle with distress. Games have been strongly tied with feeling good emotions and escape. TLOU2 does nothing of that. In my opinion, studios should be encourage to do more of this: breaking the expectations and bring something new.

    I'm a casual player and I play mostly story driven games. I'm also passionate about storytelling in cinema and tv series. What Naughty dog did here was to tell a story that could never been told, the way it was told, in a different medium. They clearly understand how to evoke emotions and tight them together with the gameplay and design. I love stories and they told me a beautiful one, through a fantastic game. If you are planning to play it, get some extra tissues first. :)    … Expand

    Its a pretty mixed game. The most polarizing game of the decade imo, The Graphics and Soundtrack are next level but the narrative and storytelling is very critical. The Game is a masterpiece for some and burning trash for some. I liked tue story telling and narrative not much but still, but it winning everything is just trash. Spoilers: Playing Abby for the Lev and Yara story line was a waste of time and waste of potential game play for Ellie for a different story line or even Joel. Abby fighting against her own team was bizarre and took me out of the TLOU world. I literally felt like I was playing a different game. Why are we killing humans more than the dead? And as Abby and for what? Abby killing her own team for two people she just meet is hypocritical. I do not care to experience this lesson as Abby. Once I got back to playing Ellie it was short and over... What happened to Ellie being a cure story line? TLOU2 story was not satisfactory in any way or a game you want to replay. Revenge stories leave too many plot holes and questions. This games story is a lesson of not what to do to characters and to literally burn bridges for story growth and potential.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a masterpiece. You complain so much because Joel is dead. If he stayed alive and Dina died, the story wouldn't make sense. I am still shocked by Joel's death, but I think it fits because the story has become very interesting. The graphics are majestic, the enemies are very realistic. There is also a fearful minutia. The characters are charismatic except Mel who is the only character I didn't like because, in my opinion, she is useless. Neil Druckmann is a genius, one of the best authors in the gaming world along with Kojima.
    P.S. TLOU2 is not a story of revenge, but it is a story based on Joel's FORGIVENESS. Besides Joel's forgiveness, Ellie has lost everything. Like Dina with her son JJ because of Ellie's decision, her mother's screen knife and fingers, now she can no longer play the guitar given by Joel. This is for people who haven't understood anything about the game. ;-p
    P.P.S. If Ellie had killed Abby, the story wouldn't have made sense.

Books and anime, I believe, are the only untouched media left for me where I can truly enjoy without having hateful and extremist propaganda hammered into every neuron in my body. This game deserves neither the vehement praise it's gotten (same goes for the awards it's won; idk what reviewers are playing these days or who they're catering to) nor the deluge of unreasonable hate.

    Aesthetically, the game is astoundingly beautiful. The environments are staggeringly intricate and massive. The dense forest is the best I have witnessed in a video game and it beats SOTR. There were times when I would just stop and look around, taking in those incredible moss-covered buildings or grassy terrains with open skies, and then finally decide to proceed in one direction, only to come back and finish exploring the remaining areas.

    Game narrative was extremely powerful for invoking strong emotions in me; however, it did total injustice to Tlou1 characters. That's unforgivable to me. Tlou1 was a powerful, interesting, uplifting and immensely engaging story with compelling characters, set in a believable, brutal world. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, ND chose to forgo all of that and plunge into utter darkness and insipidity. The central theme of revenge seems really petty and only adds on to the lack of ingenuity in the studio.

    The decisions the characters make are hilariously and mind bogglingly irrational, considering the type of world they live in. My playthrough with Abby was very half-hearted, absurd and distasteful. Surprisingly, I found that Abby controlled better, moved better, which was probably a cunning way from the devs to make me like her. The game is filled with unlikable characters like Abby and Dina that serve no purpose. The only likable character was Lev, only added to humanize Abby though. Older Ellie isn’t likable either. Younger Ellie had such a charm and healthy vibe to her it was almost refreshing, but they opted to completely eliminate that and replace her with an unsatisfying and lifeless character that is doomed to be unhappy for the rest of her life.

    The level design seems to have improved and is actually good. You can access more areas this time around. Enemy variety and design is pretty much the same though. The only section I truly loved beyond complaint was Ellie’s encounter with the Scars in the park. When it comes to gameplay mechanics and what the game has to offer, ND has never been good. It's basic and at times, clunky gameplay. I never loved their Uncharted games and they were a bore fest, the puzzles insufferably dull. In Tlou2, traversal and exploration, though not bad, are jaded. Besides nice visual updates, combat hasn’t evolved much. However, the stealth gameplay was extremely fun for me. Scavenging for resources during intense combat sessions was exhilarating and strategizing my moves as I attempted my stealthy approach, sometimes getting caught and then fleeing madly to establish cover again was intoxicating. The dodge mechanic doesn’t work like it should, forcing you into an animation you can’t stop and sometimes it doesn’t even work, precisely because of that. Picking up stuff is unbearably slow, to the point where I was infuriated and auto pick up doesn’t alleviate this mind-numbing inclusion. Opening drawers and cupboards—irritating. Shooting just like Uncharted is not good, but tolerable. Certain things I wish could’ve been better were creativity in puzzles. ND was never good at designing good puzzles (that includes the rudimentary puzzles of Uncharted), but I was hoping they’d have grown by now.

    This game doesn’t focus on Ellie, instead it focuses on another character that regardless of what ND does to fool us into liking her, deserves no redemption whatsoever. Having Joel tortured and murdered that way and making Abby look like a man makes me wonder if radical feminists weren’t behind this **** Honestly, I never wanted to kill the doctor in the first game, and Abby’s premeditated murder of Joel does not justify her revenge.

    So, did I enjoy the game? Not really. I wanted to. I'll clear Tlou2 on grounded for sure someday, since I first played on survivor, but this is a game I’m disinclined to replay, at least for now. By the end, I didn’t care for either Ellie or Abby. I simply wanted the violence and the ‘game’ to end, after having been bludgeoned to death for 40 hours with the highly divisive, revengeful and hateful plot. In a nutshell, although it is much less interesting than Tlou1, I got to play a survival game in a beautiful, post-apocalyptic setting with good stealth.    … Expand

Some of characters dies too suddenly. Music as good as can be. I also didn't understand the ending when Elly let Abby to go. As for me it was too taut and vague. Of course it was made to continue story but c'mon. Also want to say that without lgbt propaganda the game can be much better because transgender kid - the last thing I want to see in serious story. But at all game is very good. Highly recommended to play immediately… Expand

Amé el juego, esperé 7 años y no me arrepiento, se que tiene muchas malas críticas pero es que ND no nos mostró lo que queríamos ver, talvez por qué lo que pasó sería lo más cercano a la realidad, vemos dos puntos de vista de la venganza, tanto la de Abby que logro completar, y a pesar de eso le trajo otro pedo a su conciencia , como la de Ellie, hizo todo un viaje para que al final dejara viva a Abby, eso enojó a varios pero , ambas tenían motivos para hacer lo que hicieron, y al final Ellie tomó la decisión más madura que pudo haber tomado, que fue dejar a Abby con vida, siendo éste otro modo de dejar ir su carga, ya que a pesar de ir lo hiciera, lo que hizo y lo que perdió está hecho.

    Para mí gusto está a la altura del primero, no se le puede comparar directamente ya que ambos cuentan con una atmósfera y tema diferentes, aunque la jugabilidad, fabricación, combate (en especial cuerpo a cuerpo) y armas es bastante mejor al primero, sin mencionar los escenarios, gráficos y la banda sonora. Vale completamente la pena

    Muy buen videojuego, temática adulta e historia muy interesante que te mantiene expectante de principio a fin. Quizás pierde el factor sorpresa de lo que fue su primera parte pero la historia te cautiva al verla desde otro punto de vista. Lo recomiendo 100%. De lo mejor en esta generación

The Last of Us Part II is an Amazing game, I know that many people did not agree with Joel dying at the beginning of the game and not a lot of people do not understand the ending. This is the best game that Naughty spent THE LAST seven years working on. Even though many people hated Abby killing Joel, this is what created the plot to the game and even though I did not agree with Ellie's actions it will still be the greatest game by Naughty Dog. To those people that review-bombed this negatively, go get a life because Naughty Dog worked so hard these last seven years to create this game. Many you are upset and confused for playing as Abby for the second part of the game, the death of Joel, and the lengths that Ellie's goes to get her revenge. How can respond a bunch of Death Threats, to Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson. Don't you see this game is a form of art work just like the original. Amazing gameplay coupled with an intense story, beautiful environment, and terrific atmosphere. However, what I got was not what was advertised. I had expected to get another Ellie/Joel adventure based on advertisements, trailers, and general marketing. The early death of Joel was unexpected, but not in the good way. The story I was sold was not the one I was given. It's one thing to create misdirection, it's another to be misleading. That really soured me. That's why when a game such as this one broke those plots, and decided to create a new thing, a lot of people hated that, blaming the game for not following the usual narration paths. Therefore, the game challenges your emotions and feeling as a player, because what makes something bad in your sense, may be good for someone else, and to understand that, TLOU will put you in the shoes of both ends, and in both scenarios you have nothing to do but face the world and expect the unexpected. This game is thus all about frustration, but unlike a dark souls or doom frustration due to a difficult boss that you can eventually beat, TLOU frustrates you because of how little you can do in this world, because of how small you are compared to everything else, to how little control you have over the main character's way of thinking, because yes, the character will think in a survival way and would not listen to you as a player sitting on a comfy couch behind a 4k screen, as I said, what makes sense to them might not make sense to you, and this caused a lot of people to hate on the game because the characters didn't make similar decisions as the player. This game is a story that vehicles hard emotions and strong opinions, it's a game that you just need to sit down and let it guide you into the uncharted territories of the post-apocalyptic world of the last of us part2, and some plot twist might seem complete non sense at first, it eventually makes sense, if you keep an open mind on the story, and not hate characters just because they did things that hurt you personally, because everyone in TLOU has a name and a story.     And what did you do with such a masterpiece? You **** demolished and wrecked it, because it is politically correct (see a doctor please), because there isn't Joel as active character (are you 12 y/o?) and history didn't flow as you expected (are you 12 y/o and do you need to see a doctor?), because it has narrative inconsistencies (see a doctor #3) and, most of all, because it's a trend to insult it (i don't speak because i would get in big trouble).
    Next time you'll be about crying for another game series ruined by carbon-copies releasing, first think about what you did with this masterpiece, then shut your mouth.    … Expand

It's obviously like first one, but the slight improvement is enough for me to make this game worth buying only because of its gameplay. The story is a bit of a mess to be honest, it's powerful, and it got moments that are very emotional. The worst thing about the game is that is unncessary long, those 25h could be reduced to at least 20h.

    Everything is perfect about this game. The story, the thrill, the adrenaline, the emotions, the soundtrack, facial animations (!!!, btw the best I've seen to date in a video game). This is the game that will stay in my memory forever, some particular moments. The art in its purest form. Thank You, Naughty Dog!

The gameplay, the story (except the Joel part), the voice acting, graphics, mechanics, the pacing, enemies, and characters are outstandingly good. Many people that wrote reviews are just pissed about the Joel part and I agree that it sucked but they act like that one scene ruined this 25-hour long game. Just because the game shows that the game addresses serious topics like death, doesn't mean it's bad. Stuff like this happens in real life you know. They wanted to make a sad story and knew the response they were going to get. They didn't make this game for people that think that everything is perfect and that every game should have a Disney like "everything is perfect" ending. The game isn't rated FSK 18 for nothing and just because you didn't like that one scene doesn't mean everything else is bad.     The story was very emotional and impactful. Most of it is tragic, and that should be a warning to anyone who wants to play. This is very dark and happy moments are rare. My only problem I had was the disjointed order. I think they could have presented the plot in a more meaningful and linear way, but that isn't what you'll get. It's fine the way it is, but it could have been better. The entire plot is still quite an experience and one of the best I've gone through since God of War.

    A lot of the accessibility options in this game are amazing. I used some of them and I'm sure many people saw benefit from what you can do.

    Overall I think this game reached the legacy of the first game at the very least. A lot of people might dislike the events of the story, but to give the game a zero because it made you mad is childish. This game is above any average Ubisoft or Activision game.     Amazing and most beautiful level design .. that I have seen in a while! Story is very brutal at times but great all in all. Gameplay is unique and refreshing ... since it is not about killing enemies all the time. There are moments when you do puzzles and some of them with unique mechanics. Overall one of the best games ever!

I found myself crying at multiple points in the game, often being moved during a scene as simple as Joel playing the guitar to a young Ellie. I was often forced to do heinous things as Ellie, and I somehow managed to be Team Abby by the end of the game. I even had to put it down for a few days when the game switched to playing as Abby because I didn’t know how you could reasonably expect me to play as the killer of a man as beloved as Joel. But the further I got along in the game, the more and more I came to sympathize with Abby. Ultimately, all characters in the game were deeply flawed, but you still loved all of them in their own way. In the end, I recognized the senselessness of the cycle of violence and the importance of making a conscious decision to end it. And I have to say I have never felt so emotional in a finale. I’ll never forget the deep grief I felt as I was attacking Abby and the ultimate catharsis of letting her escape with Lev. Please do yourself a favor and play this game.… Expand

The game is amazing, how the story of abby and ellie colide in a inner war of revenge that leave both of the without anything but hate and regreat, the end when they battle as a player I didn’t even what to pres square cause it give me a sad feeling fighting towards abby cause both were very injured already... its a perfect sequel for an amazing previous game. Gameplay parecchio coinvolgente e ricco di dettagli, il giocatore può decidere se fermarsi ad esplorare ogni singolo angolo della mappa o scappare via e tirare dritto con la storia. Purtroppo non è un gioco per tutti.. lo dimostrano le recensioni degli utenti. Leggendo parecchie di queste, ovviamente negative, si percepisce la pura ignoranza italiana e non solo. l'80% non ha neppure giocato il primo capitolo.. prendendosi anche il lusso di criticare la storia del videogioco. Leggo recensioni di gente che forse avrà meno di 10 anni, gente completamente ignorante (data anche la formulazione e l'uso sbagliato della grammatica). Gente che nel 2020, quasi 21, si lamenta e accusa il gioco di tematiche lgbt parecchio gravi... quando nel gioco... si vede solo un bacio tra la protagonista e la sua ragazza, con magari qualche piccola scena, un pochetto più spinta, che tra l'altro, viene subito interrotta dal gioco. Leggo di gente indignata per la morte di Joel, gente che si rifiuta di giocare con la più grande nemica di Ellie (Abby), gente che a fine gioco.. vuole solamente la morte di quest'ultima. Parecchia gente non ha davvero compreso il significato di questo gioco, presentato come una storia di continua vendetta.. ma che alla fine si rivela una storia di coraggioso perdono. Una storia che vede Ellie trasformarsi in un mostro, ma che alla fine riesce a non perdere il totale controllo di se, risparmiando colei che le ha portato via il quasi ''padre'' Joel. Una ragazza che ha deciso di non macchiarsi come la sua nemica, ma che subito dopo si ritrova senza niente. Senza la ragazza, senza il bambino, senza Joel e senza il ricordo di quest'ultimo (la chitarra). Prima di dare valutazioni affrettare.. analizzate per bene ciò che avete di fronte a voi.. All the negative review stem from people either not understanding the game or not taking the time to play it at all. Joel’s death was a smart plot point and the story that was built from there was so well made that you really start to feel for all the characters. Abby was a character you were supposed to hate and then like, but the people who didn’t understand the game did not comprehend her story. The way Ellie and Abby parallel each other shows that they should be liked the same and it leads to a very interesting story.… Expand

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
