    Do yourself a favor, don't buy or play this game, it's not worth your time and money, especially if you're a hardcore fan of The Last of Us. The visuals in this game are gorgeous, but apart from that, you will be very disappointed with the story.

    You shouldn't have fun with an outdated gameplay from 2013/14.
    You shouldn't have fun with all the murder porn.
    You shouldn't have fun with the story, with the abuser of characters having fun with them.
    You shouldn't have fun controlling a character with zero development.
    You shouldn't have fun watching a not post apocalyptic world where is more important not surviving but having a character bald is the priority.
    You shouldn't have fun realising that the commercial trailers were misleading, showing different characters ingame.

    I don't think I've ever been this disappointed since the ending of game of thrones and also maybe the new star wars trilogy. Anyway I write this review in hopes that people don't spend $60 of their hard worked for money on this game like I did.     Honestly this game is not for fans of the relationship between Joel and Ellie, this game totally destroys that and it changed it into something unrecognizable for The Last Of Us, Gameplay and Graphics amazing, but story is not worth the 7 years wait.

    the characters are bland i did not like any of them just Joel and Ellie Abby is just a bad character not course she just written bad.

    Saved many people from wasting money in a difficult time (please take care of your health and loved ones)
    Better looking character models
    Teaches a lesson to other game developers on how to protect their intellectual property and finances
    Cons:
    Ruined Joel and Tommy's entire persona of being veteran survivalists in a post-apocalyptic world.
    Disengaged TLOU1 fans by focusing on real world pseudo social issues instead of staying true to game lore and atmosphere. Zombies, remember?

    The story is not strange because it is not a bisexual person and the main character is gay.

    Even if the PC thought came out, I wouldn't be disappointed if the story was well-organized.

    However, it was hard to understand the story itself because I couldn't grasp the emotions of the main characters and people around me in the game.

    All I could think about was why?

    They destroyed the entire legacy of the first game. The characters, the gameplay and story: its like if you gave total freedom to someone who not only hated the first game but also grew up with some kind of irrational trauma against it.

The narrative choices feel forced in a bad way, extremely edgy, genuinely confusing, and downright nonsensical at times. The major problem I have with this game is that the plot lines go nowhere and it doesn't even leave you on an ominous note. It feels as if you played and finished the game for nothing, since nothing is actually achieved. Gameplay wise, there's no standout generational improvements from the ps3 era and enemy mob entities are reused multiple times throughout the game; it feels like you're fighting the same 10 zombies and humans. The enemy AI is also terrible, you'll have no trouble getting through the game's most difficult areas which there are very few of since the enemies are unable to detect you behind the smallest of covers. Only positive I could think of is the voice acting and even that gets tiring since the majority of this game is just cutscenes and dialogue while walking from one point to another without any significant gameplay events occuring. 1/10 because they ruined such a loved franchise.     The Last of Us was pretty great right? The graphics in this one are good, the level design is great, the voice acting is great. That's it. The gameplay part of the game is mediocre, and if you're a fan of the story of the first game and looking for a continuation of Joel and Ellie's story, prepare to have your expectations subverted.

    If the developers had just put minimal effort into Story-telling that game could have been a masterpiece. However the Story is so bad it made me cringe.

    Neil Druckmann has done it, he has successfully drove an amazing game right into the ground and proceeded to spit on it. I won’t give it a 0 as the climate and landscape is beautiful, however the plot and script is beyond unbearable. It’s a shame to see a once great game get destroyed by a greedy, agenda driven nutcase.

    Last of Us 2 is not a **** game, the Grafic, Animation looks fantastic, but the Story is to long and awful, because the game deconstructing your memory of the first game. Try it yourself when the game cost lower than 30 bucks and get your own opinion and both camps shouldn't hate the other.

    I could type a long, fleshed out argument for why this game is bad, but that would be too much of a waste of time--much like my time spent on the game.

    The Last of Us II can be summed as 7 years of disappointment. The game leaves you hollow from the beginning to the end with its pathetic excuse of a plot.

    But decent console graphics and game mechanics.

    The PLOT is absolutely lackluster. The amount of complete bs and random plotholes that occur in the writing of tlou2 is braindamaging. The production quality of the game is amazing: sound, scenery, and gameplay; however, the latter can in no way save the reputation of this game.

    The worst script I have seen in games for years. Way too much SJW and woman power things in-game. Visuals are great but the framerate sucks big time. The ending was just so disappointing.     I am not p(l)aying for that. I am here for the story. It is 1 pt, not because of the pain I experienced by seeing characters die, but how poorly it is executed. I don't feel anything the developers want me to feel. I feel confused, and honestly, I do not want to continue playing the game (after 4 hours in). Mechanics and gameplay work only if the story works. Imagine killing Harry Potter in Chamber of secrets, and then making you play 50% as Ron and 50% as Voldemort (I know it is not accurate in terms of character motivations, but this what came to my mind, first).    … Expand

    This game is immensely bleak, with the bright hopeful spots of the first entry being altogether absent. With that being said, just about 10 hours of the game are wasted on fruitless plots, and the entire story (potentially of both games) is rendered meaningless by the dumbfonded ending. I could say more, but this game is a huge disappointment, and I regret waiting 7 years for it.

    I have no word to say how disappointed I am. Waiting for this game since I was 15 in 2013, just to see Naughty dog spitting on my beloved characters. Congratulations rest of the team, gameplay and graphics are great. I feel sorry for you even more, hope that you can find a place where you can connect your talent with some great story.

    Imagine killing countless people to reach the killer of your beloved father figure. Then, after killing all those people when you finally find the killer and get a chance to finish it all, you just change your mind. After loosing EVERYTHING YOU ONCE HAD! Seriously, what is the point?

    Sure, graphics are way too damn good to be true, gameplay is smooth but, who cares about these elements if the actual story is garbage. JUST IMAGINE playing as the character that killed your favorite character from the previous title. I'm fine with Joel dying. What I'm not fine with is, the way he died. You just cannot come out of nowhere and kill our beloved character without even showing a motive. I'm sorry but who the hell would even want to play as Abby after all that **** happened?

But when it comes to the one part that made the first game so memorable, the story, this game just fails to deliver and by that even destroys the memories of the first one.
    The game actually doesn't really care too much about telling a good story. It prioritises political and social agendas above everything else. It's a problem often seen in movies and television during the last view years and is just saddening to see. It was the real disrespect for those who loved the first game. This could be like a side story over a videogame no one cared about. And it will still be an absolute trash. Inclusion over society and political matters had to be included right? Had to be set free in the end? How cowardly from the director of this game.     I do not care if they include characters of any gender, race, color, etc. If they thought that this is enough to classify a story as good, I don't know what happened to them. The characters and their motivations are poor and throughout the game it only gets more absurd, basically destroying the strong point of what the first game did.

    1) "They were actually going to make a cure"

    One of the very first things 's says is in the game is extremely problematic. People justify their own actions. They choose to interpret events, especially uncertain events, in a way that is favorable to them. If you go to a prison, every single person will claim innocent. This is practically a fundamental truth.

    There is no way to know for sure what the fireflies chance of finding a cure were. So it is something people are free to Interpret how they want. Here are two examples:

    (A) 0% chance of cure: is a hero who saved from dying a pointless death. The surgeon is a monster who was willing to sacrifice an innocent girl for a 1 in a million chance for a cure. has NO reason to hate .

    (B) 100% chance of cure: is a monster who robbed humanity of a cure. The surgeon is a hero who died trying to save humanity. has a reason to hate forever.

    Which way do you think and would chose to interpret things? It makes sense for to believe "truth" B. Of course she would rather think of her father as a hero rather than a monster. Similarly, would believe "truth" A where he is a hero. He would never choose to believe in a Interpretation that would give a reason to hate him.

    The beginning of the game should have been like this:

    "It was a shot in the dark. One in the million chance for a cure. Everything I had seen suggested as much. The speed they decided to sacrifice the 's only immune. Not even trying to get 's approval. The incompetence I had seen across the country... I couldn't stand the idea of dying for nothing. So I killed them all."

    However, Neil gave a lobotomy and had him say, "They were actually going to make a cure"

    2) the most important moment of part one is undone in part two.

    At the end of first game, asks a question. lies. He doesn't tell the truth that will make her hate him.

    In part two, the exact same scenario plays out again. asks about what really happened at the hospital. This time tells the "truth" and makes her hate him. There was nothing preventing him from giving a version of events that was favorable to him (0% chance of cure). This directly contradicts the end of the first game.

    Neil gave a lobotomy and forced him to believe 's "truth". Neil then game him another lobotomy to force him to tell that "truth" to . In the end, hates for something that he himself told her. This is unbelievable.

    In this game, whatever the first game was about is completely ignored, Zombies? **** them all, all that **** doesnt matter, what matters now is to pander 2020 society issues from a very biased pov, not only that, the "revenge" story arc is stupid, because it leads to no revenge in virtue of being a good person, despite being a serial murderer to reach the main antagonist who is a cartoon of whatever the writer wanted it to be, a chimera of progressive ideals with no soul and nothing interesting to say.

    This game might be part of the top 10 biggest flop of this decade, and its just 2020.    … Expand

    I can't justify giving this game a positive score I really can't although I mean no disrespect to the developers behind the scenes who took gre at care in trying to craft such a great game in terms of graphics setting and mechanics overall it admirable

    If you want to argue with me about it I'd direct your attention to a book title "after the ball" for further consideration on the topic

    I hope the future storytellers won't go in such derasctic directions with their IPs and it's a shame this was what we are stuck with for a "continuation" of Ellie and Joel's journey

    The first 15 minutes of this game with Joel and Ellie is freaking fantastic
    I also guess the environments look good...
    Aaaaand That's it. That's all that's worth playing.
    Just go watch the first 15 minutes on youtube and pretend that's how things are while remaining blissfully ignorant if you're that lucky. It's the only way you'll be happy with this steaming pile.

    The writers killed JOEL, the CENTRAL character (my favorite, like many others), to « subvert expectations » as some would say. Needless to say, like the reference, it was very deceiving.
    I genuinely don’t know if they screwed the original (good?) scenario because of political considerations or if they just forgot how to write between the 1 and the 2, but I didn’t have a good time playing TLOU2. Even Telltale games were more enjoyable. I rate it a 1, and not 0 only because it made me understand some games were made to be one-shots...    … Expand

    Looks stunning, but it’s a shallow attempt to continue from the first game left off, story and characters are a side note to the games agenda pushing, and nothing extremely new in terms of game play which other games have been doing for years.

    i'm literally shaking and crying right now, i can't believe i waited 7 long years for this game and this was the result. I really wish to know what in the world went wrong during development, the story is so bland and edgy for no reason always going for shock value over a cohesive story. After this trainwreck of a game i don't even know what to look foward to. Thank you, naughty dog.

But to a fan of Last of Us from 2013, the more important part of the game wasn't that.. the most important part of the game was the story, how joel, a widower who has to see his daughter die because a military guarding the virus area, starts to find a new daughter in ellie... and ellie finally finds a family in joel.
    They screwed up not just killing joel, but making his death as stupid as a kid can imagine... I supposed they have writers or people that makes millions of dollars to make a good storie, that was Neil Druckmann said, that they would take care of the story of the game and the characters, and then you have this... And that without speaking about the end.
    They **** up the story, the most important thing about we, the gamers of the last of us, most love... and I hope naughty dog do something about it.    … Expand

About a girl with survivors guilt learning to live with it and find purpose in her life, a reason why she survived. It was a masterpiece that sadly will not be followed up, that story is over.

    What this game tries to do is say **** you, all that character building, means nothing, we got new **** Joel is now a moron that isn't cautious with new people at all, when that is the entire first game's premise, he doesn't trust anyone, but not now. Ellie is now a murder hobo, except at the last second she has mercy for the only purpose because Druckman wants to use Abby as the main character for the third installment of the series, which at this point I hope doesn't happen.

    Abby's character development completely revolves around being another murder hobo, she has no arch. She begins as a murder hobo, and ends as a murder hobo that magically got lucky that Ellie doesn't kill her. There will never be a connection to this character and if the third part is actually made, they will have to lie to the audience that it isn't about her in order to sell it.

    What will drive you more crazy is that they tease you the game you actually wanted to play with 30 min long flash backs a few times, but 90% of the game isn't what you wanted.    … Expand
