    The narrative is awful, the story is really incongruent and full of flaws, they just destroyed the game to forcing the stupid politics into it, well done, never again I’ll buy a game of this company    … Expand

    This game punishes you for loving the first game. While beautiful technically, story wise this game ruins everything created by the first game, even the clickers have no impact. This same story could be transported to any world with no difference. Just such a disappointment after so long a wait.

    艾莉和艾比就见了三次面，前两次死了两个自己珍视的人，最后一次就是多年以后的复仇——谈何放走艾比？铺垫严重不足

    The game looks nice, stunning even; but that's about it. It's a snuff film masquerading as a game on a console. Zombies now just a cameo and purposeful and hateful alteration of a beautiful story which was about the good but flawed and tragic nature of mankind. All to fit an agenda. I saw this coming with clear corporate manipulation of reviews and supression of honest criticism.

    Joel looks nothing like in the trailers. That is false advertisement. The way Joel dies combined with the fact that we get to play as his killer afterwards is so dumb that I truly feel that the Naughty Dog writers just deserves a slap.

    I truly hoped for a great follow up to the first and went into it with an open mind only to walk away asking...really? That was it? The graphics were good but not all that. The story had more plot holes and disconnects than POE’s servers. The controls were meh. And as is the case with most games today, it was short.

    Sure, they kind of warned everybody that it was going to be different, but any truly honest critic could tell they were either desperately reaching just to get a title released, or this was nothing more than a weak excuse to justify mindless killing rather than a carefully thought out game with a worth while plot. In a nutshell it is kill. Kill some more. And maybe collect a little loot along the way. I can think of much better, more worthwhile violent kill and loot fest games and they’re free!    … Expand

    This game decides to destroy an excellent game series in the name of "progressive" themes. Identity politics meets poor storytelling. I only have it a 1/5 because I was worried that a 0/5 would not be counted.

    Waited for a game for 6 years. Played from start to finish. Couldn't handle playing for Abby. Boring, annoying and just completely unnecessary. Can't say much more about the game.
    Flashbacks with Joel were good, graphic design is beautiful, songs are amazing (but what the **** "Take On Me" had to do with all of this?)

    Are we sure Neil Druckmann didn't have collaboration with D&D? The graphics and gameplay look amazing and fantastic. The story however, offsets any kind of achievement and praise I have for the game. This series will always be known for its storytelling. Just this time around it's a pretty bad one instead.

In all my life of gaming I haven't dealt with such a cliche story with nonsense sprinkled in as a poor attempt to “subvert expectations.” In my mind, the great reviews from all of these companies have been bought out or were formed from sympathy over the leaks that obviously annoyed the community. I played through the game since midnight launch and the story was nowhere near the impact of the first game. There were shoehorns, forced representation that didn't fit the game, a nonsense death of Joel that was reminiscent of if a storm trooper just hunted down and killed Luke Skywalker at the start if the Empire Strikes Back for the destruction of the death star. Political correctness is a cancer that ruined this game along with bad writing and poor lore decisions that feels like a slap in the face to every fan of the original game. It’s hilarious that Naughty Dog was phenomenal with the Uncharted series from beginning to end but let their biggest title slip this hard. The only redeeming quality is some of the gameplay is pretty fun but even then its pretty bland and uninspired. Im deleting the game and never playing it again and I hope many people will read this and decide to not put themselves through the effort this game takes.… Expand

    The story honestly seemed pretty hollow and unimpactful. There was a lot of gore and gruesomeness, but it didn't equate to you getting much more out of it than shock value. I really think that they could have done more with this game, but in the end this definitely was falling short of expectations for a follow up to the first game. Lots of filler that just made the game pointlessly drag out.

    Sony and Naughty Dog have consistently censored anyone who tries to talk about this fact, including preventing reviewers from mentioning the entire second half of the game. Any leaks/info are taken down, censored, even memes are struck with DMCA notices.

    This wouldn't be so bad if the advertising made it clear that such transphobia and homophobia would be present throughout the game. But it doesn't. Instead the advertisements blatantly lie about the game, containing scenes that never occur in-game, featuring characters that are actually killed early on.

    It gets even worse as it features quite graphic depictions of sex, featuring the trans woman character, showing her topless and ofc without breasts and still looking mannish. Basically **** trans women. The director of the game apparently took part in the motion capture, presumably for this scene.

    I've decided to rate the game poorly due to the horrific and awful portrayal of lgbt people, and the lack of disclosure in the marketing materials; failing to note what this game actually contains. Shame on you sony and naughty dog. That's **** up. I will be boycotting both sony and naughty dog for the foreseeable future, until their views on lgbt people and women change quite drastically.    … Expand

How can the person change from Joel in trailer to another guy in the actual game, just to hide the fact that Joel died way before the game actually started. This is PURE DECEIVING...     The graphics are amazing, loved them. Story was trash, game of thrones season 8 style. Killed the franchise, characters were just so... so bad. The gameplay was pretty much the same with little to no variation, jump button was bullsh*t as it looked like a drunk person trying to leap with a twisted ankle. Anyone who loved the first game be warned, for disappointment.

It was such a great game that my stepson loved it when he was 16, the story of this one is heartbreakingly bad. It tries to subvert expectations by pulling a last jedi on the gamer, and it fails, there is no hope, just revenge, sorrow and regret. WHich is also my regret of ever considering to buy this game. This is not a schindlers list of videogaming, this is not even a Last Jedi, a overhyped, overconfident artsy game director wanted leave his mark with this pretencious, slice of life versus SAW, mixed with avocado toast my stepson is heartbroken, he love joel in the first and Ellie was a fun character, now she is just a one note character, which is a shame, btw. i didnt see it much as an lgbt friendly game, it was almost by using them as tokens or scenery, parading the, oh lokk we are so woke, now see this even woker thing, you are surviving in a zombie laden apocalypse!, this is for sure.an expensive mess!     I give this game a 1 star for the good gameplay overall. But everything else is terrible. I would recommend not buying as it is a waste of time on the game after waiting so long to get this garbage of a storyline.

    [1] The game is more interested in PUSHING the progressive left's redefinition of the word 'diverse' than it is in actually telling a compelling story.
    [2] All men bad... All women good
    [3] ZERO emptional stakes put forth. Not ONE. The game is as unfeeling as the idiots who made it are
    [4] Try as it might it doesn't know how to deal with the MANY conundrums that coexist within the progressive left's ideology. See, in this... "game" all men bad, all women good. But... but... The... "game" also attempts to push the "more than 2 genders" narrative (ie: conundrum)
    [5] In most games (even in this SJW, #Woke, #MeToo, ist-ism-obia, #RHEEEEE world we live in) the ending of a game has some sort of payoff. The "bad guy" gets his/hers #ComeUpings, There is some sort of emotional closure to the journey, something that simply says "the end", a wrong is righted... etc. SOMETHING. But here comes The Last of Us II. Nope, Nada, No. No closure, no nothing. Just one big pile of "Think like us or you're an ist-ism-obia, a russian bot or toxic.

    Me getting my money back for the piece of hot garbage is out of the question so I did not even try. I'll just chalk it up to Goodbye Sony, Goodbye Naughty-Dog.

    [2] I have zero problems with Ellie being gay. The shill media that is spreading that fake news also knows that is not the reason why so many disliked this PoS. That said, the irony of Ellie; All-of-a-sudden; being gay in the DLC that dropped the EXACT SAME day that Ellen Page (actress that Ellie's likeness was based on) came out to the world as gay is not lost on those with an once of common sense. No, the problem(s) I had with this... "game" was the man-shaming that occurs from beginning to end of this farce. The problem I had is making me play as some GENDER-CONFUSED Whaman who LOOKS like a man and THINKS she is a man right up until it's time for her to teach all of us how much better all women are. The problem I had is the game could not go a full 30 minutes without some sort of virtue signaling.

    MY SCORE: 1 - It gets at least a 1 from me for having the unmitigated gall to even release this nonsense and that I played all the way through.

    This... "game" was appalling and it was a waste of my money. the ONLY bright side to this fiasco is that I have quite a few people that rely on my opinion concerning games these days and so I've saved them from purchasing this crap.     Awful characters. Awful story. You literally don't feel anything the whole game because the characters are the worst of all time. Gave 1 point for the decent graphics. Gameplay boring and ps3-era. Naughty Dog does not innovate in this title. Long, boring, awful characters, awful writing.

    I just finished the game, and I made myself do it. My wife and I are absolute massive fans of the first game and we are sitting here just completely disappointed in the story/gameplay. I’ll come back later and edit this if I can to go into more detail, but for those of you that were waiting for this.... the game is terrible. The story was terrible, as a fan of TLOU I’m at a loss for words.I just finished the game, and I made myself do it.     Every video gaming industry should learn from this event and remember who their customers are. I get the frustration of every video gamer. This game is pushing an agenda that most people are awakening up to and don’t agree with. After a few hours of gameplay, my motivation to continue playing the game is dead. Time to send the game back to Naughty Dog!!!

    Jogo lixo. Só tem lacração e história merda. Mataram o joe de um jeito mais bosta que eu já vi. Não tem como jogar com o joe na hora que ele morre e outros personagens também.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why does this game even exist? It couldn't be more clear that Naughty Dog never intended a followup to the first game and had no plan whatsoever for continuing the plot.

    The thing that actually makes Ellie important (her immunity...ya know, the entire driving force behind the first games plot) has no role to play in the sequel at all. Other than one or two off-hand references, it seems like the writers completely forgot that was even a thing. As a result, the game has no real plot progression at all. The world is the exact same at the end of the game as the begining. It's pointless.

    This games plot is literally like watching one of those episodes of a TV show that have a throw away story to focus on the B tier characters.....except these are supposed to be our main characters.

    I would say "at least its pretty," but Naughty Dogs gameplay is so laughably outdated and stale that you can hardly focus on the graphics through the shear tedium of it all.

    Why would you drudge up a beloved IP, then have no clue where you are going with it? Is it really too much to ask for the writers to at least pretend they know what they are doing?

    I'd give this a "0," but I am willing concede that the game does indeed start up when I select the icon.    … Expand

    After playing "The Last of Us" I was eagerly waiting for this game. I was so love with the first game's characters and managed to avoid the spoiler leaks. But after playing the second game I can say it that this game is pure trash. They took everything I loved about the first game and removed it. Save your money people.

    an insult to the first game, horrible characters, a very slow start to a plot that is not up to the task and very repetitive to the point that you get bored, or at the heel of 1 the only thing you can say "how nice" are the graphics since gameplay is rough.

The most important thing to be said is how poor and dangerous of a job professional journalists/critics have been with handling the reviews for this game. All of the critics reviews released before launch were bound to a strict no tell policy of roughly 12 hours of this 24 hour game. There is no way to give an objective opinion and accurately review your likes/dislikes of the game along with any of its failures or successes if you can't discuss half the game. If you want integrity and honesty in your critic reviews, only those on or after 6/19/20 should be considered. With that being said the main reason this game fails so badly and is such a slap in the face to the original is the terribly poor writing.

    The two most important plot points:

    Around the 3hr mark Joel is beaten to death with a golf club by a girl named Abby who turns out to be the daughter of the surgeon Joel killed at the end of the first game. How this girl and her group were able to survive a cross country trip across the U.S. is mind boggling considering what Joel and Ellie went through in the first game. The only reason Joel/Ellie survived was due to the the close to 2 decades of experience and survival that Joel had to endure as a hunter, smuggler, and courier. Joels wit, penchant for brutality, lack of trust, and skepticism/shrewdness is what kept them alive. Joel was very much a analogue man in the digital age. He grew up long before the invention of gps, internet, smart phones, etc. He would have lived decades travelling via maps, landmarks, signs, and word of mouth. How Abby's group was able to do what Joel was able to is never explained considering especially that the fireflies were on the verge of Extinction when Joel/Ellie arrive at the hospital. When Joel flees with Ellie the fireflies have lost their leader, head surgeon, and some of their most heavily armed and trained members leaving them eviscerated and in disarray. There is simply no explanation as to why Abbys group was capable enough to survive that journey. This coupled with the extraordinary luck of Joel just happening to be the one to meet and save Abby or call it extremely poor writing as that is what it is. The sheer stupidity of this plot design is enraging given the fact the first game gives no development to the surgeon Joel kills him and the game forces that decision on the player. He could have easily been incapacitated but the game doesn't allow that. Some no thought decision in the first game is the catalyst for the entire plot of the second.

    The worst part of the game is probably the 20 or so hours that follow. About 12 hrs of the game you are forced to play as Abby the antagonist of the story and the woman who executed Joel while forcing Ellie to watch. Its literally a misery simulator at this point. The game gives no reason to push the analog stick forward to continue the game. If by some chance you manage to summon the will to do so you're treated to a cross country tour of revenge where Ellies savagely, brutally, and mercilessly slaughters and maims dozens upon dozens of people that have not wronged her or her friends/family and they have no affiliation with Abby's group what so ever. After reaching the end Ellie is on the verge of killing Abby when a flashback of Joel playing guitar forces her to stop and allow Abby to live and go merrily on her way.

    This all sounds like terrible fan fiction or as if you're on an episode of punked but sadly its the truth.

    The Last Of Us fans deserved better, the people who worked hard on this game that were not involved in its writing deserved better, the fans deserved better, and most importantly Joel and Ellie deserved better.

    The game cannot receive a 0 however as a lot of people not involved in writing the game worked very hard on the gameplay, production, voice acting and mocap, and the art/sound design. Its a shame their work is unravelled by one of the poorest sequels in video game history.

    Good graphics, nice mechanics ,decent gameplay (same as the prequel), and a God Awful writing ,the story is cluttered all around with unnecessary flashbacks and tedious plot twists , the game was well crafted by excellent developers/designers and destroyed by a careless writing team .

Last of us was a great game, you build relationships with the characters and you care about them and the struggles they have endured. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the sequel and see what challenges we would come up against.

    Then I play this thing, this pile of absolute dog crap. Thank god I could get a refund as I don’t want my money funding this tripe.

    They crap all over one of the main characters of the previous game, the scene was barbaric and just wrong in all ways possible.
    No it’s not thought provoking, it’s just bad and after that who the hell cares what happens next.

    Avoid at all cost, ignore the main media reviews if you want to keep fond memories of The last of us just play the first one’s

    Storytelling falls so short of its original mark, only shining in the briefest of glimpses throughout, but prove weak in comparison to dragging misery the rest of the game offers.

    Additional and old characters are poor here and hard to care about, whether their decision making or lack of anything exciting to their story, I personally found myself rooting for absolutely nobody. So what was the point? Animal violence was messed up as well.

    No value in revisiting, and severely damages the firsts replay value as well. Shocking... just an absolute horror show and I am sadly disappointed to have to fallout of love with what was one of my favourite franchises. and    … Expand

    It's definitely not my cup of tea. Like many fans of the original game, I wasn't expecting a character assassination of my favorite protagonists. The gameplay and graphics are excellent as expected, but the story is one that never needed to be told. It's 30 hours of your life you're not going to get back. Very disappointing.

    Graphics is great. Levels are amazingly detailed. ND can push ps4 to its maximum. But the game... It's dull. Not even close to 10/10 and TLOU 1. After 20 hours not sure, if I'm going complete it. The first TLOU was a brilliant game. I hope this failure won't bury the studio. Or better to bury now?

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
