    Very bad game ! I don't want to play Ellie. It's ruin everything and I am extremely disappointed. "The last of us" is dead for me. Maybe I will sell my PS4 too and never return to Playstation.

    Even though its' gameplay and graphics is wonderful, its plot still ruined this series and reached a large number of players' HATE at the full. This game was not only a story begun with hate and anger, but also be made with self-complacency and discrimination.

Mas o jogo peca no enredo, como a morte do Joel que na minha opinião foi zuada e prematura e o final que deveria ter sido de outra maneira ou a ND deveria pelo menos ter dado a opção de se vinga.     They had a great thing going on with the first game. However dropped the ball with this one. I feel like game developers are trying so hard to stand out, that they lose track of what's most important. A few choices in the game made by the developers were just wrong. It's like they just gave the big finger to the fans of the game. Something I can't call myself anymore.

    This game has an amazing atmosphere, incredible graphics, great sound cues, and an extremely emotional soundtrack. However, it falls short on the story, as many have stated. The story begins by killing Joel, a beloved character from the first game, in a incomprehensible way. Joel is taken out of his character by faithfully trusting a group of strangers, which is uncharacteristic of Joel.This game has an amazing atmosphere, incredible graphics, great sound cues, and an extremely emotional soundtrack. However, it falls short on the story, as many have stated. The story begins by killing Joel, a beloved character from the first game, in a incomprehensible way. Joel is taken out of his character by faithfully trusting a group of strangers, which is uncharacteristic of Joel. This whole seems too forced and abrupt, for a character such as Joel. You then play as Ellie and are forced to commit heinous acts, such as torturing people, killing dogs, and even a pregnant woman. Whereas, the game forces you to play Abby in such a way where you are helping people, playing with dogs, and saving children to attempt to have the player sympathize with Abby. Additionally we learn her motivation for killing Joel, which Frankly, is not enough to have us sympathize with her. Ellie, regrets the horrible things she did as she: had PTSD and visible anguish for both, torturing and murdering a pregnant woman; while Abby took pleasure in torturing Joel, despite him saving her life, and in the idea of killing Ellie's pregnant girlfriend. This shows how psychopathic Abby is and makes the player hate her even more. Near the end you are forced to attempt to kill Ellie as Abby, after you kill Jessie, and presumably Tommy. The narrative is both infuriating and extremely unmotivated for the player into wanting to kill Ellie. Finally, the ending is unjustified, as Ellie gets no revenge despite losing everything and rampaging through Seattle, committing several heinous crimes. Overall, terrible storytelling and an extremely unsatisfactory ending. However, the saving grace is the graphics, gameplay, voice acting and soundtrack, which is why I even rated it a four.… Expand

    Don't bother with all the trolls out there. This game is another masterpiece. Gameplay is superb, storyline is really nice (a few minor problems, but show me the one franchise in all entertainment industry that doesn't have). Once again I was alternating moments of sheer tense and terror and relief and sometimes anger, and this is all this series is about.

This game does have great visuals and great gameplay, but the main focus needs to be the story. The story just isn’t good and it tries too hard to make you feel sorry for people that you immediately don’t want to feel sorry for. And the ending tries so hard to make you feel sad, without making any logical sense. Apparently negative reviews aren't allowed? **** off Metacritic!… Expand

I will cut ties with anyone who thinks this story is good, or it has good characters. Because I don’t like getting surrounded by idiots, as part of LGBTA it’s also offensive.     I honestly think this game has gotten a lot of unwarranted hate. Some of the story was definitely lackluster, however I do think the majority of the game excelled at what it was trying to tell. I think the script of the game didn't portray Abby's character well, however her story is similar to Ellie.     i loved the first game and thought it wrapped things up perfectly. When i heard a sequel was in the works I had my doubts but was open to experiencing a continuation or even a new adventure.

    However as familiar as the atmosphere was with its highlights, it failed to deliver an emotional immersion as the first one had. It felt empty.

The storyline is the issue, a BIG issue. I mean I loved The Last of Us 1. Everything about that game was 10 out of 10. I brought the $200.00 Ellie Collector’s edition, that's how much of a fanboy I am. WASTE of money. No one cares about ABBY! How do you kill Joel in like under an hour into a 25-hour game? I mean if he's going to die, have him go out much better than he did in this trash of a game. When you play as Abby, it's so long and pointless. There's one part of Abby's story where she wants to save some scar person so she goes ALL the way back to the hospital making it so pointlessly boring. They could have added more with Ellie and Joel, but nope lest just play as Abby because people should care about ABBY. WOW, 7 years wait for crap! And it is Crap! It's a WOKE game hardcore. I didn't even finish the game because I'm so bored with Abby's storyline. Killing one of the most beloved people in the game so early and the way he went out, total dumpster fire of a game. I hope people save their $60 and when it goes on sale, Still don't buy it. Such as massive flop!… Expand

    This game can be summed up as "the most beautiful person you will ever see... until they start to speak." it is hands down the most beautiful game you will ever play today, but this is a story based game and the story is where this game starts to make you want to gag. The story gives you a feeling of horror in the same way watching documentaries on WW2 Germany does, except imagine that in these documentaries there were massive plot holes and character inconsistencies. both seeing the atrocities of WW2 and playing The Last of Us part II inspires the same feeling of "how could someone do something like this". characters wildly swing between emotions, they do things that you would not imagine them to do, and not in a way that is "oh they are so brave taking these risks" but more, "what has gotten into them". the game tries so hard to be dark and ask intelligent questions of its audience but the writing is clearly not intelligent enough to handle it properly. all in all I rate a 0 out of 10 because no amount of incredible graphics and level design can bring me to ever want to play The Last of Us part II again. I was not allowed to post this unless i gave the game a 10 out of 10 so pretend my rating is a 0 out of 10.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People rate bombing this beautiful game haven't even played it, are going off spoilers from the internet, or are butt-hurt because a character they cared about isn't around anymore so they didn't bother to play past the first hour.

    Before the spoilers hit (which were relatively easy to avoid I might add) it was obvious from the get go based solely off of the small bits Naughty Dog gave us, that there would be a major character death early on. We knew it was a revenge story, we knew it would be bloody and brutal. What did you expect? Regardless of how predictable the main plot if the game would be (which is was, why are you surprised?) It is still a wonderful game, and the perfect way to bring the Joel/Ellie story from the first game to a close.

    The game is meant to humanize your enemies and villainize your heroes. Its shows how complicated revenge can be. How it effects everyone involved, and how it rarely turns out to be what is actually best.

    Don't listen to the negative reviews. Play the game, and build your own opinion around it. If you loved the first game, you'll love the second. Simple as that.    … Expand

    Cons: i waited nearly a decade to watch my favourite character get clubbed to death, abby is an unwanted 10+ hour forced sidequest, the use of extremely shallow and conceited logic to invoke emotion is completely unnecessary. Etc

    Essentially if you cut abby out of the story and rewrote how Joel dies you could have an amazing game set up to explore the continued relationship made in the last game, and topped it off with the emotional death of a beloved character in a honourable and heroic fashion. Instead, you get a poorly written revenge story that berates the player for doing things that they dont have any choice in, finishing with the worst ending to any game ive ever played. But hey, blowing a fan favourite character's kneecap off with a shotgun and then clubbing him to death is totally the thing players waited for. And that 10+ hour forced sidequest with abby was definitely what fans wanted. Not to mention that sex scene that seemed to be wrote by a complete moron was definitely what we waited for. In conclusion Naughty Dog has broken a core tenant of every game: Games are meant to be FUN. This game is a perfect example of why some sequels are not meant to be made.    … Expand

    Completed the game this morning. Attention to detail is way above average. Story telling no doubt one of the best features. I don't understand the negativity from other reviewers after reading a few with spoilers. I am glad how this game turned out.     This game is beautiful, the best from ps4, amazing job from the programmers team, but the history let everything you love about trying to write his own, you cant just kill a beloved character like joel to progress the history, imagine killing kratos to start loki history or killing Geralt to give Ciri a reason for revenge, thats is what happen in TLoU 2, a cliche plot using a masterpiece.
    I'ill ignore TLoU2 and everything from now on, its better to consider TLoU the only game in the series to see become a cliche, Socio-political cash grab.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well. This was something else entirely that i expected. From Naughty Dog it was very brave and unexpected move to craft a sequel like this. To begin with story was different and refreshing for me. It makes a statement. While it is not one of the best stories it still stands out. And will be story that will not be forgotten. There are some awesome moments as well as some sad and disturbing moments. It is clever in it's own way, but i do not like the way it is told. Something similar to Beyond: Two Souls. Still doesn't make it entirely bad. I see this story as bit above average for my taste. Surely for many people this will disappoint depending on taste. For me this was actually new and unique experience that i haven't experienced and it gives me more than it takes.

    Gameplay was fantastic. It was exiting and engaging. It was bit different from previous game. It actually made you feel under pressure. At some point having a oppressive moments where you not a moment felt safe. There were some unexpected jump scare moments as well. Camera angles made you feel uncomfortable on purpose that made you feel even less safe. It also was quite challenging even in medium difficulty. In the end it was something that i will remember for long.

    Graphics were awesome. They're likely best we will see in this generation of consoles. For example forests felt very realistic there being plants a lot and being cramped. Textures were great and detailed. Animations were perfected. Facial animations showed at some scenes how far they've gotten not only in cutscenes but in gameplay as well. Actually you could not tell much difference from gameplay and cutscenes and the transfer was so smooth. Every setting of areas you get to play were great and unforgettable.

    - Graphics: Looks good, does it look brilliant? NO IT DOESN’T. There’s A LOT of PS4 games that look better, nothing about the graphics is special. The facial expressions however feel so horrible and exaggereted at some points, I am literally baffled as to how the first game managed to pull off facial expressions way better than this one. The original game was more impressive graphicswise considering how weak the PS3 actually was.
    - Gameplay: I am not sure if it’s just me, the gameplay is the same as in the first game, this is completely okay. What’s not okay is how dragged out and boring this game gets. The introduction is just a horribly paced build up to an unnecessary sex scene, the rest of the game doesn’t feel any better. Just slow and overly long.

    - the story, oh boy don’t get me even started. Everything is a complete 0. Some of the worst characters I have ever seen in fiction. Ellie is nothing more like the loveable daughter figure. Her entire personality is just nothing, it’s unreasonable, irrirrational andshe makes highly questionable decisions. She accomplishes basically nothing and her motives are never even questioned. On the other hand Abby is being forced down your throat as this sympathetic character who is basically an angel after comitting the most brutal murder in the entire game. Abyy’s character arc is just nothing, never does she reflect on her revenge, never does it influence her character, never is there a growth. Joel’s drath is a mere plot device to kickstart an awful story. It has no long lastinf effecfs. All the characters are forgetable, why would we ever care about Jesse or Owen?Never is their death ever even mentioned again. “All the characters are equal in this universe” but somehow Joel’s death is the reason for a freaking war but Jesse, nah who cares about Jesse. None of the characters undergo any deeper character arc, Neil **** forgot how to write sympathetic characters so he has to pull of the “OMG she’s pregnant card” LITERALLY THREE TIMES! The game is just a gory **** that has nothing to offer. You loves the incredibly powerful bonda and developments in the first game? This game is nothing for you. The game has nothing to do with hate it’s just a very very poorly executed generic revenge story. The easily worst thing is that it tries so hard to pretend it’s not a generic revenge story. Visually the game is stunning but is ultimately destroyed from the inside by the story as a whole and terrible choices made along the way. Watching Abby kill one of the main characters of the game 2 hours in only for her to get away free is abismal story telling. They never created the sympothy that they were going for and forcing the players to play a character we all despise is idiotic beyond belief. Had I not spent so much money on the game I would've uninstalled at that moment. This game goes so far away from what made the first game so amazing. It wasn't just the graphics but the story of two strangers connecting on such a deep and personal level and ultimately one of the individuals (Joel) killing for the other as any father would do for his daufhter. This game made me sick, the story was terrible, and I no longer trust naughty dog.     I later bought the game was an absolute masterpiece and still is.
    The statue of Joel & Ellie sits proudly on my book shelf.
    Fast forward 2020 what ND did to the story and the characters in Lou 2 is a f crime.

Das ging mir alles so richtig auf den Keks, ansonsten die Geschichte um Ellie finde ich gut und spannend erzählt. Sie hätten die Geschichte von Abby kürzer schreiben sollen, das hätte dem Spiel gut getan.     The gritty and dark Story was great.

    For example:
    I think almost everybody knew that Joel will die in this Game, but that it happen so early was unexpected for me. And the fact that i was surprised by that, makes it so "great". The Story did that quite a few times for me.
    The Game is challenging u to question ur feelings for some characters.
    For Example:
    Abby! I hated her and still do a little bit, for what she did to Joel, but later in the Game u get her Point of View, during the end of Part 1 in the Hospital, and that makes her not just another Evil Person, it makes her a Human who is seeking revenge. Her motivation is clear and not unjustified.
    And i read often that this Game does Joel dirty, but this is not the Case. This Game is just showing u the other Side without judging Joel. Now u as Player saw both Sides and u need to figure out ur self who is Evil for u. Or maybe u just understand that this Characters are still Humans who feel pain and hate and have to struggle with that and eventually overcome those feelings.    … Expand

Having played the game completely and on my second play through, I would give this game a 9, but pushed it to 10, because of the negative reviews from people who clearly haven't played the game or very little of it. The combat is highly improved from the first with a added dodge function. And the ability to jump and go prone, which adds depth to the combat. Now onto the spoilers. The game is add the vicious circle of violence, it starts with Abbie killing joel and Ellie wanting revenge, with the twist later in the game you see this from Abbies View, this is the part people hate, gamers playing as Abbie the person they hate, the part people miss is the game being about forgiveness as a player, idots miss this point, the story continues OK, the last part is not really necessary, but all round the game is of a high standard and worth the money, ignore the idiots saying **** like, it has more bugs then fallout 76, I only exprenced one floating gun glitch in my full play through, I highly recommend this game.     I have been a fan for a long time
    I used to think that every games that your studio made is a masterpiece and is worth every dollars spent
    When the leak spreads, i simply couldnt believe it, but i didnt care and waited until the game eventual release date...
    I was so happy when my copy arrives and i get to play it from start to finish.
    I will give my verdict
    The story is full of plot holes, the characters didnt act like their own self, no character development, story is questionable and pointless....
    And lastly you killed off a character that majority of fans loves and he is the reason that many wants to play the sequel, im fine with him dying, but the way he died is an insult to him, Joel from the first game wouldnt simply trust strangers and let them in their base armed to the core..so he is very out of character here and to add more insult.... Neil Druckkman himself mocapped himself as manny just to spit on Joels corpse...that is a disespect on another whole level, and lastly you too released this on fathers day....
    Congratulation ND you just killed a beloved game.
    And this is the last game that i'll buy from this studio

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
