    After playing this filth for over 25 hours, staying up two days in a row to beat it and losing hours of sleep over it I feel its necessary to express myself. I am beyond disappointed, angry, sad, sick, etc. I feel betrayed. I am left wondering why and how naughty dog thought this was a good idea for a sequel. You spend half the game (12hr) playing as Ellie trying to hunt down the people that murder Joel just to get to the girl that actually killed him and loose the fight. However before the fight (that she Ellie lost), you are forced to see Abby's side of the story and play another 12 fu*king hours as the GIRL THAT MURDERED JOEL. After dragging myself through 12 hours of Abby gameplay and losing the fight we then return home as Ellie to give up for a "while". Then here we go again, she can't just stand giving up so we have to go all the way to fu*king California to find her AGAIN. Because apparently all the way to Seattle and back wasn't enough. 2 hours of gameplay later once we finally find her we had our final fight just to pus*y out of killing her. Because apparently after killing all her friends that helped her murder Joel and killing thousands of WLF members to get to the one person that LITERALLY bashed his brains in we needed to gain some compassion. So after Ellie returns home AGAIN, with nothing to show for her adventure other than two less fingers (Abby literally bit them off in our fight) but no by all means let her live.Then BOOM the game ends. Fu*k this game, fu*k the writers, fu*k everyone that said this game was good. They are all lying sacks of sh*t. Please for me, never EVER. Buy or play this game, just pretend it doesn't exist; for your own sake please.    … Expand

The gameplay is good, and the graphic is amazing, but the true appeal comes from the story and the characters. I can understand how people felt betrayed by the early death of Joel and the bloody circle of violence this puts in action, but I guess this is not a game for everyone. The only two complaints I have are the AI of the companions (that sometimes gets in the way while you are trying to sneak around) and, maybe, a big of heavy handedness in including a transexual character in the game. I'm all about inclusiveness (and I did appreciate other trans characters in other games, like in dragon age Inquisition) but, in the case of Lev, I have the feeling that he could have been handled better.

    None of these things, anyway, make the experience any less enjoyable... even though "enjoyable" isn't really the best word to describe this game.    … Expand

I strongly believe most of the positive reviews here and literally employees of the studio trying to stop this game from bombing. This game’s story **** on all the characters you know and attempts to make you care about new ones in a very forced way. As far as revenge stories go, this is definitely one of the worst. Imagine watching someone murder your dad and then deciding to kill everyone around you and then forgiving the murderer.… Expand

    I do honestly believe graphics, scenery, music was good. But the plot was terrible. I get it it is about revenge and hatred and all, but Abby was no where near sympathetic. If you wanted players to be sympathetic towards Abby you should've put her side of story first and how it came this way. But instead all I saw was death in front, and then story of the past of why she did it. The infamous scenery could've been better by locking Ellie and not let her see the death up front and just see the dead body afterwards. The storyline was epic failure. If it was poorly made, everyone would give at least 6 - 7 for it. But it the story was made terribly in purpose. It's hard to make a good story, but it sure is easy to make terrible one that makes the readers/ players upset. U disgust me.    … Expand

    Truly a great game. The vast majority of the negative reviews are from day 1 and are for all the wrong reasons. Not all negative reviews fit this bill; I appreciate the critical reviews for those that actually put an effort in.

    You will see a few points of reasoning from the other folks (or bots) posting negative reviews:

    - The Gameplay hasn't evolved.
    Yes, it's true that the gameplay is similar to that of TLOU1 but isn't that the reason we fell in love with the first game? I had a blast with the game mechanics and systems and never felt as though they were dated.

    -The Story is Awful/They destroyed the characters we loved!
    The story is not awful, there is an incredibly dark theme to this story that is upsetting folks. It shows a side to Joel and Ellie that people don't want to believe. Just because a story doesn't have a happy ending, doesn't mean it's bad

    And then you have those that criticize the game because the protagonist is a lesbian. There is no reason to battle that as those that see this as the reason a game is a disaster is a bigot.

    Anyway, what do I think of the game. It's a must buy in my book!

    Graphics & Sound: 10/10 - Absolutely gorgeous graphics from the character animations to the environment themselves. The soundtrack as well was brilliant. I truly felt engrossed in the world.

    World Design: 10/10 - Level design is second to none as this game feels like an open world while it is actually "on rails". It makes you feel as though you are making the choice of the path as opposed to being guided. It allows for exploration and each level feels unique.

    Gameplay: 8/10 - TLOU2 maintains nearly identical gameplay with its predecessor with some added features such as guitar playing and a jump ability. The controls do at times feel a bit clunky and hence the detraction

    Story: 8/10 - If you are expecting or wanting a tale of hope and optimism that the predecessor left us on, this is not what you will get. You will get a bloody story of revenge with an incredibly dark theme. There were a couple of plot holes that could not be overlooked but overall a solid story.

    Overall Recommendation: 9/10 - Play the game, form your own opinion because I can guarantee you it is heaps and mounds better that the user score shows. That is of course if you aren't afraid of seeing two females kiss.    … Expand

    espere 7 largos años y pues la verdad la muerte de un personaje importante no solo en ese juego, sino también en la industria, fue una muerte horrible y muy dolorosa, aunque no he acabado el juego puedo decir que fue un dolor inmenso y algo que no hubiera imaginado después de la primera gran entrega, sin embargo, el juego no es para nada malo, pero creo que es algo que no concuerda con la misma experiencia del primer juego y nos obliga a actuar como quiere el juego. Otro de los aspectos más innecesarios es jugar con abby, igual que yo como muchos jugadores la queremos ver muerta por lo que hizo a Joel y no jugar con ella y sentir empatia, sinceramente una estupidez. agradezco a naughty do, que se bien que el desarrollo de un juego no es fácil, pero es algo que no me esperaba y mucho menos de esta desarrolladora, para destacar es una jugabilidad muy buena y hermosos gráficos, pero con todo el dolor que me causó la muerte de joel creo que me llevo un sabor agridulce, espero que si llegan a sacar una tercera parte para la siguiente generación, lo hagan de mejor manera.    … Expand

    The game is not what you want... It’s what you need, a true real world narrative, based on hardships. It not afraid to piss it’s fan base off and that’s what makes it so unique.

    Is a good/fair game not an epic, no a must play, you will have a fun experience but the history is a backdrop from the original, also i can't stand how they threat some characters and animals they deserve more respect

    A sequel like no other. I did resources comparing this game with the godfather part 2 and it's the exact same of how the narrative is told with different points of view of the characters. Godfather when it came up recieved divise on critics and audience same with last of us. A work of art

    Don't give this game a bad rating just because of Joel's death. It's just a great game. Good story. Perhaps sometimes it is delayed, but the plot is good. You must play this game. Really. Naughty dog have done very serious and hard work. My praise for the work done. As for me I absolutely love this game.

    Usually the end of the game leads to some kind of conclusion, and that makes you feel different emotions. Like ending in the first game was incredible.     Pro's Graphics are incredible 9/10 seem some bad textures here or there. Voice work is amazing 8/10 as some lines are delivered badly.     The gameplay 4/10 it's boring i was struggling to push myself I woke up wanting to reformate my PS4 hard drive then play it was ok for the first game as I wanted to get to the next scene so I pushed my self more and more and was enjoying it. but this game I could not after the first 2hrs I wanted to put the game down and just jump back on my pc.

    The story 3/10 the problem is seen as major plot points are dropped and charters don't act how they would truly act. I won't go into spoilers but Abby's character does not make me care about her I wanted to just jump off a cliff and had more fun when I died in stupid ways.

    The plot is focused on revenge and how the cuticle just keeps going until someone ends it. but Abby gets away scotfree Abby loses what nothing really but Ellie loses Joel loses her girlfriend loses her fingers and ability to play the guitar. it feels like in the end she has nothing and Abby has everything. the last fight was Ellie finding Abby tied up left to die Ellie cuts her down and proceeded to have a brutal fistfight and at end of fight Ellie starts to drown Abby but lets her go at last second and lets her drive away with the boat. this fight is stupid if Ellie had drowned Abby who would know that Ellie did it. Abby was left to die tied up on a pole with others. The reason I say this is because people's argument is Abby's friend will hunt down Ellie. but why how would they know it was Ellie. They cant for all they know she drowned after trying to escape, died because of her injuries or starvation, and ended up in the water.
    another point I want to call out is Ellie can forgive a person who caved in Joel's skull basically her father with a golf club but can't forgive a man how made her sandwich and she called it a bigot sandwich even though he apologized to her and made it as a gift. it seems like to many political points were thrown into this game. it's more point-scoring like they made a list of political point tweeter and media can get behind and just shoved them in
    LGBTQ+ as main characters, Trans sex scenes, man-hating female empowerment.
    There's nothing wrong with these things but there more shoehorned into the game

    If you herd about the behind the scenes of the game I think it explains everything they burnt out there staff so much with crunch they ran out of people in the industry to work for them as they had to grab film VFX students to work for them as no veterans or anyone else wanted to. there are reports and testimonies from the dev hoping the game will fail so the crunch will end.

    My final score is 4/10
    The graphics and voice work and motion capture are amazing all together deserves a 9/10
    but the main thing you're doing for 20hrs+ is the gameplay and its boring combat and stealth sections and AI pathing is terrible 4/10
    and last the story I have already scratched the surface as I'm too tired to talk anymore about it anymore 3/10

    First of all u need to be more open to things. I don't care if Abby is a halfguy or transgender thingy. If your dad gets killed by a random person, u will start training as well. There's a good film about something like that it's called law abiding citizen. If my wife gets killed by something like that, I would do literally the same.

    Back to the game. At the moment there are to many LGBT things going on.
    I don't care about Elie beeing a lesbian, I think it's kinda cool.
    Gameplay is in my opinion okay, there could be some changes like more weapons variety or alternativ routes to get to a better position.
    I love how the dialogs are written it's could be an ordinary conversation. The design of the world is fking great. The character desgings are also fantastic, never saw so much realism in a game on a console. I love the expression of their faces and the the npcs are never useless, they're doing a great job in my opinion. Okay sometimes there are some tiny bugs, but don't care about them, I paid 60 euros for that game. I played it over 20 hours, so it's 3 Euro for a hour and I am totally okay with that. Sad thing is, the Elli part is to short, they could've expand the story about her revenge a little bit more.



    Now. I had alot of fun with this game, but I can totally understand the rage from the community.
    But I had a great time with this game, honestly

    I wasn't disappointed.
    I will always remember the **** dialoges between Elli and Joel, there are not bad written but they are funny bad, cus of cringe and I love that. The last if us part II isnt a game for everyone, u need to be more open to alot of things, ofc there are some strange facts about this game, but I had alot of fun with it and I know, alot of people won't read this post. But I needed to share my experiences with other people.
    It's in my opinion a solid 7.5/10 so it gets 8 points from me.

    Everyone should watch a let's play of this game to get a own view on things. U should always remember, there are 2 sides of a medal. Same for this game, Abby was ad about her father, Elli was sad about Joel, there is no difference between those characters (ok, muscles maybe, Abby is a bit to "muscular" but I can totally relate to that, because she is in a **** military base and not like Elli in a small village)    … Expand

В ней нет ничего особенного, хотя большинство «экспертов» считают, что это вершина индустрии игр. Хотя и говорит, что игра отвратительная тоже не стоит. Лично для меня в игре больше минусов, чем плюсов. Плюсы: концовка игры нормальная, героини неплохо раскрыты. Минусы: продолжительность (серьезно?! 30 часов одинаковых зачисток локаций и собирательств? Перемудрили Вы, ребята), странные решения с сюжетными поворотами ( убить некоторых персонажей, Которые могли бы улучшить связь между двумя героинями - тоже не гуд для меня). Очень разочаровал момент с линией Яры и Лева - могли бы хотя бы им реплики прописать, а то Эбби бегает и уничтожает тех людей, с которыми они жили с рождения, а им вообще пофиг. Игра не шедевр, журналистам «спасибо» , что вводите людей в заблуждения, и дайте наконец поиграть за Томми… Expand

    This game is the equivalent of the greatest chef on earth, cooking you the greatest version of your favorite entree, plating your favorite entree, taking a crap on your favorite entree & then serving it to you, then wonders what your problem is with the entree.     Just finished. 30 hours of fantastic gameplay. Story with no happy ending just in the real world. This is not a game for kids absolutely. But if You believe that world is complex, and force is not the only option, it is beautiful story to go through. You will feel anger, compassion, fear, adn glimpse of adventure. I will wait a while, but I am sure I will go through it another time.

I know the devs want us to play Abby to know her story and want us to understand why she did it, but they used the worst way possible, we cannot feel anything but hate the moment she killed our favourite character. And we have to play Abby for nearly 8 hrs. I felt disgusted at the second half of the game. Plus the ending is terrible, I have no idea why Ellie let Abby go after all those lives she killed. She just suddenly feels bad about killing. WTF r u thinking? Are those people u killed before worth nothing? U killed so many innocent lives to just kill one person and u let her go at the end?     Joel's death was sad, but necessary, it was a great motivation to let Ellie so **** angry, but he doesn't died like Joel, he died like a weak man, he should die, but not like that. I'm not saying that he must had worthy death, because it's the end of the world and the death never have been beautiful.

I think its beyond ridiculous that the low ratings seen for this game are being pinned on premature character deaths or character sexual orientation (get a grip if that's you). If you played the first, watching the brutal murder of Joel from the perspective of ellie truly hurts you to your core, so much so that you might need a break after. The pain of Joel's absence is felt throughout the remainder of the game, even when the credits roll. This creating a driving force for you to progress as ellie and seek the revenge you are hell-bent on seeing through. While some players might be wondering why ellie feels so hurt in Joels murder since we see she finally realised what joel did, this is explained near the end where we see both of them looked towards recovering what was. Only, this was cut short with Joel's death occurring the next day. We then understand that ellie in the finale is not only hurting because of losing what was, but also for what could have been. Now, in regards to abby gameplay, I think this was an excellent strategy for showing there is always two sides to a story. Before, from the last of us 1, I only perceived Joel's act in saving ellie as a gesture showing how far you would go for your family and those you care for, no matter what. But then from abby's perspective, you see the death and destruction caused, which completely devastated all she had and knew. Now aware of both ellie and abby's stories, I found the sequence at the theatre where you (as abby) have to seek out and defeat ellie unsettling. Conflicted isn't a strong enough word to describe my feelings as to who should come out on top.

    This the same as the final sequence. Before, I sympathised with ellie, that abby needed to pay for what she did to joel. this strengthed by the flashbacks to Joel's weak body, battered and struggling to breathe. Yet, as I fought an already broken abby and began close it out by holding her head under the current, I began to wince and wanted it to stop after realising both characters are similar in more ways than I initially thought. It was at this point, the conflict ended and both individuals went their separate ways (thankfully). In a way, some of the negative reviews make a point I can agree with, that the ending feels awkward and unsettling, as ellie tries to play guitar while lacking some of her fingers due to her fight with abby. However, i actually perceive this as naughty dog hitting the nail on the head with how the player should feel after going through this journey. You realise that the pain felt from Joel's death will never leave, the pain will persist forever. Even though abby walks free, you realise that both her and ellie are kindred spirits in a way. Both have been through the ringer, and either one taking out the other will do nothing to fill the massive loss felt within each of them.

    The Last of us 2 has left me with despair on behalf of the ellie and abby losing so much throughout the gameplay. But the resolution from both characters to walk away from this gave me an immense sense of relief that they can both try and move forward. Ultimately, this game made me uncomfortable, hurt, annoyed, frustrated and upset, but in all the right ways. Remember, not every good ending is a happy ending!    … Expand

Joel and Tommy would have never given their real names out to a large group of strangers knowing the fireflies where potentially hunting them. Abby holds on to the hate of Joel for 4 years and has absolutely no remorse or unease about killing someone who just saved her life multiple times. This just shows Abby is a psychopath and needed to be put down. They then continue to have Ellie slaughter hundreds of people to get to Abby just to let her go.... They also showed Joel in scenes in trailers that he's not in so you buy the game thinking you get to play as Joel at some point and that he's alive through most of the game. However, he's killed within the first couple of hours. They then force you to play as Abby for 10ish hours AFTER you kill Joel. No one cares to play as Abby after what she did to a beloved character. All around it's just a bad story which you can't have in a STORY DRIVEN game. If TellTale had crappy stories no one would play their games. It contains the same gameplay as the first game with the same dumb AI and Good graphics.… Expand

    Starting off with the positive points:

    + The soundtrack & audio; Gustavo Santaolalla pulls off another very emotional and fitting accoustic background which often returns with the guitar being played,

    + The graphics; these are absolutely stunning, few games are on par with this and they can really get you into the setting of the game,

    Now off to why this game is just a 4 in my own opinion

    - The story; obviously this is where a lot of people nope out at the game, and I completely understand that, for some the sendoff Joel gets is a literal spit in the face (Yes, I mean that scene).
    The character of Abby is being forced down your throat making her look like a good girl in comparison to Ellie. The absolute zero care I have towards Abby's friends... Was I supposed to feel something towards them when they died, like sadness and regret? I sure didn't with the exception of Owen who felt somewhat human. A lot of the events and actions that happen are so ridiculously far fetched it removes all parts of feeling somewhat realistic (who sends a pregnant woman out in the field? and don't come saying they got to pull their weight, as she's a trained doctor or medic she could surely take care of people in the WLF homebase without being put in the frontline). The relationship between Dina and Ellie was so angsty and insipid I mean, they are both 19 years olds who have gone through so much, do you really believe they have the time and know how to act like modern day 16 year olds who got into a first relationship.

    - The mechanics; pretty much the same as the last game and not very innovative

    All in all a game that has not lived up to it's expectations which was hard from the start compared to the first part but nonetheless did badly.    … Expand

    The game itself is gorgeous. The story isn't that bad either - mediocre at best, but not bad. But the story telling itself, the spacing, the introduction of the characters is so incredibly HORRIBLE!
    This could've been a masterpiece if made differently. Let's just ignore all the plot holes and weird out of character moments and focus on the plot.
    First impressions are important. Now, what kind of first impression is "look at this new character, she acts like an **** and kills Joel at the start of the game, whoops. Anyway, you are supposed to like her and play as her in the second half!" Just awesome. Now imagine a game where the first half introduces you to all the new characters, to Abby, to the dynamic between Joel and Ellie, and you enjoy it very much. You can sympathize with everyone and you are very curious what would happen because the game is gorgeous and full of emotion and conflict. And then the thing happens - Abby kills Joel, and the player is already fond of Abby and feels very conflicted about the whole situation.
    Maybe it's just me, but this way it could've been more bearable.
    But no, the character writing and the story telling was horrendous. The time skips and flashbacks were very random and out of place and "too late". I basically hated almost everyone and didn't feel a thing during their very dramatic death. I despise Abby and her friends.

Lo unico que falla es que lo han puesto muy politico. La gente se queja de que muera Joel a las pocas horas de empezar el juego de una forma antiheroica, y me parece bien, todos los juegos y peliculas nos hacen ver que los protagonistas mueren como heroes, y no tiene porque ser así, han hecho que muera como una persona mas en un mundo postapocaliptico, lo que busca la gente es sobrevivir y si muere una persona es una muerte más. Como cuando matas a un enemigo y un compañero suyo lo descubre grita su nombre y a veces se pone a llorar, solo buscan sobrevivir como todos hariamos en es un mundo detruido.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
