    Accessibility is phenomenal, AI in game has improved since TLOU 1. Poor rating is due to their poor writing, narrative is just horrible. When players begin to not want to play your game, you know you messed up greatly. In this case, players were invested in the characters of Joel and Ellie cause TLOU1 storyline was A+.     There’s a lot of lame people here review bombing this game because it’s too “politically correct”. That’s a dumb take on this amazing game but what else do you expect from man babies with too much time on their hands?

    Dark, beautiful, horrific, and ahead of it's time. This is a story you must experience for yourself. Simply reading a synopsis does not convey half the nuance and emotion that you get from playing yourself. There is a reason this isn't a book. 10 years from now, people will look back at this game in praise for how the boundaries are pushed in terms of narrative and blurring    SPOILER FREE

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am one of the many who finished the game and was left feeling uneasy, and feeling that things are left unresolved. I can agree with all the banter about "Joel deserved better" and "This has an agenda" to a certain degree. It definitely felt like the PC culture was being jammed down my throat, and as for Joel, I'm not sure about deserved better... He murdered countless people and forsake mankind to save one girl. I am not saying I would have chosen differently. I would have made the same call, especially after losing my daughter many years before. When you murder someone there will be repercussions. Abby was one of those waves that Joel had created, and it caught up with him. You kill that many people, and you are asking for the worst possible outcome. Put all that aside, at least for this review. This game felt like a slap in the face. It felt like no one wanted to write it, or maybe there was just a lack of real story after the first one had been tied into a neat little bow for us. I do not know how much influence the Co-writer Halley Gross had, but I looked into her, and her reputation is less than impressive. She is a failed comedian, claiming it was some misplaced fear, when in reality she just isn't funny. Her writing is lack luster at best, and bringing her into the fold was a MASSIVE mistake on the studio's part. I feel that this whole stunt was like the studios and critics saying "Oh you want a sequel do you? The first wasn't enough? Well here is your **** sequel!" as if to put us in our place about craving a sequel to something as good The Last of Us. We understand that puts pressure on studios, but if this is the response we get for wanting sequels and remakes that actually do their counterparts justice, then I would rather have nothing at all. Killing Joel, and then FORCING me to play as the person who brutally beat him to death, is a **** insult to anyone who played the first game and don't even pretend like it isn't. Driving a narrative of seeing how bleak the world would be, and beating the dead horse of "revenge is bad" is just lazy writing. Showing me that my enemy has struggles too, and attempting to humanize them is just infuriating. Your counterpoint is immediately invalid, because it comes simply down to "I know my enemy has feelings, and cares, and wants, and struggles. The thing is, they killed the only thing I had left in this world, so I don't give one flying **** who or what that person is. Showing me their side of things is not going to change my mind that, that person needs to pay the piper. Just like Joel did." And then at the end you strip us of even that. This story felt lazy, and insulting all the way through. No amount of "good" gameplay will ever compensate for just throwing out good character arcs. I wish I could even give a decent review of the gameplay. I can't. It was fine enough for what it needed to accomplish, but the A.I. was piss poor. It felt like the clunky A.I. from the first game, but now even easier to sneak up on. Survivor mode was a joke. My biggest complaint... Killing animals. I have a problem with killing innocent creatures that do not have the capacity to even begin to understand the complexities of what drives man to slaughter each other with no reason or rhyme. I spent more time trying to figure out ways to NOT kill anything in parts that included animals, than doing any other thing in that game. I will give you this, you animated it and made it sound convincing. So good so, that the first time I killed a dog and heard it yelp, it made me so **** angry I turned the damn game off for the rest of the day. I had trouble justifying even turning the damn thing back on. I am disgusted with any game that includes killing innocent creatures. You couldn't even give us gameplay redeeming enough to recommend this game. Fire Neil, and absolutely fire Halley Gross. This game spit in the face of not only its fans, but in the face of its own predecessor. Next time put the goddamn pen down and think that it might be better to produce nothing than produce whatever the hell you call this.… Expand

    Good graphics, but that's all this game has going for it. They trash the original characters and the narrative suffers only to keep it's social propaganda. It deserves a rental at most.

    The last of us 2 is so boring and uninteresting, they killed off Joel in the first 2 hours of the game in the worst possible way, instead of given his character a satisfying conclusion like Arthur Morgan. The game has nothing new, the characters sucked including Ellie and the end is one of the worst if not the worst in Gaming.

I am actually left with only one character from either game that I still like. The first game was awesome, the way the relationship between Joel and Ellie unfolded was masterfully done. Part 2 everything is forced and none of the characters are likable, for god sakes they ruined both Ellie and Tommy. Additional characters are completely horrible people. No matter how they tried Abbie was unredeemable and her roided out physique was completely off putting. My god that sex scene was frightening. Why on earth would they force you to play half the game as this person?

    In the first game there was lots of violence but it was to protect people you cared about. Part II is nothing more than a snuff film.

    The only reason I gave it a score of 4 vs 0 is the few scenes with Joel and Ellie. I did enjoy when he took her to the museum.

    Naughty Dog should be ashamed of the story they took 7 years to come up with.    … Expand

    Well, I just closed The Last of Us 2, and a single word I can use to describe without any spoiler is what it is
    The Most Exciting Game I've Ever Played In My Life.

    In those almost 5 days playing straight I closed a campaign with approximately 35 hours and a carousel of feelings, I was angry, sad, comedy, blushed, be anxious, indignant, afraid, thoughtful ...

    Just like in a horror movie that causes feeling or fear, a Naughty Dog handles all those feelings in a way that I never felt.

    This game makes you think a lot.
    About how we deal with Feelings, About ideologies and what we also believe.

    I've always had problems with things I think are forced.
    For example, when all the protagonists become female only to raise the flag.
    I do not like it. Wants to Make a Gay Protagonist, Black, Woman, Dwarf, I don't care how much it is not Forced.
    Be Natural.

    It has All Minorities, Lesbians, Disabled, Blacks, Asians.

    But it's all so human and natural.

    Choose a Little or Sony x Microsoft, We are all Video Games, It's Our Hobby, Our Exhaust Valve.
    What this game did is something to be played by everyone !!!
    It will change things going forward, like The Witcher 3 Changed as Sidequests, The Last of Us 2 Changed the Narrative.

    Everything built up in the previous game was destroyed here. Side characters weren't memorable, story made no sense, and the ending was absolutely garbage. The devs tried to go for realism by killing characters randomly, but this makes for horrible story telling where all your favorite characters will end up dying.

But, that doesn't mean that the character we LOVE gets this outcome. Give us the chance to decide our fate whether we want to spare or kill Abby! If you really don't want us to kill her then come to a fruitful conclusion. This game didn't hit me in my feels! it made me sad in a bad way! it tormented me how awful the ending was! Ellie got to spare her and also lost two fingers! What do you mean!!! are you telling me she can't even play the song Joel taught her to play "If I ever were to lose you". Even I tried to play the song without two fingers AND IT FREAKING HURTS to know she won't be able to play it properly! And Dina abandons her. We are left with Ellie living the rest of her life ALONE! Without Joel, Dina, Jesse, and most likely Tommy as well!

    Again, It hurts me to say the story is a masterpiece but not for the character Joel and Ellie! I'm disappointed with NaughtyDog. Just at least make things good for Ellie. It is a video game, so, make the players feel positive about the story! Joel and Ellie didn't deserve the outcome! Everything went sad, lonely, depressing. And it made me even sad in this Covid-19 situation!

    I loved the environment, went to every place I could go to explore! I wanted the story to never end and to go where it was going! The game is gorgeous no doubt!

    But man, This LGBTQ thing that has been going on in video games! Please STOP FORCING us to believe this movement! No doubt it is a good cause but IT DOESNT GO WELL IN STORYTELLING GAMES! What's next now? TLOU: the legacy of George Floid? Don't include these things in video games! These movements are earned through hardship NOT by forcing the players to believe it!

    Honestly ignore all reviews placed on the 19th July and 20th July, these people can’t give a viable review as the game came out 19th and this game takes anywhere from 21 hours to over 25 to complete, depending on how much you want to take it everything the game has to offer along with the many collectibles hidden away. This is mainly accomplished by the incredible soundtrack they have put together for the game and the level design and details they have in the game. If I had the option of rating the game out of 100, it’d be a 98, this is because I wish they had a difficulty trophy to the game to encourage more people to play and experience the game on the survivor option. They have added a myriad of new setting features to the game which can improve your game play while also scaring you half to death in various areas. Overall an absolutely wonderful game which I can’t recommend enough to people, but what I would say is to play the first game before to understand the connections between Ellie and Joel before the events of part 2.… Expand

I loved the first game and was hoping that with all it's controversy the second game came close to that but it didn't. This game is so heavily based around storytelling and, quite frankly, the story for this game is trash. I hated the ending and it makes no sense to me. I keep seeing garbage arguements about how "People only hate on this game because they're babies and they dont like that Ellie is into girls!" That's a load of crap man, nobody cares about that. People are angry because you took characters and a story that people loved and ran it straight into the ground. The game does a superb job at creating an ending in which there is no right or wrong moral answer. Leaving it up to you to ponder about the ethics of revenge and whether an eye is really worth another eye. Throughout the game I struggled with the idea of Joel being being dead and brutally killed however it did make me realise that no matter how much I loved Joel and Ellie in the first game, was Joel right for killing everyone in that hospital? Now don’t get me wrong, if it was someone I cared about that much I would have done the same thing any day but it did make me wonder is 1 life that we’re so emotionally attached to and bias towards really worth more than a vaccine that could potentially help thousands of not millions? This game did a great job at planting a seed in the players brain to make them realise that we need to recognise our own biases and that there is always more than one perspective. Incomes Abby. Now I will say I did not like her at first and even now I’m very iffy with her but I do like a few things. First of all she brings a different perspective of loss with her father being the surgeon that Joel killed and rescued Ellie from. This is interesting as it pits biological loss to socially developed loss against each other. When I realised that Ellie’s situation and Abby’s situation were the exact same it made me think about what is morally and ethically right when it comes to revenge. Abby completed her vengeance at the beginning of the game but only to lose her friends afterwords. This has a pretty meaningful message and brings up the question. Does vengeance lead to a never ending cycle of violence in which no one prospers? At the end of the game Ellie finally gets her chance to kill Abby and take her vengeance but has a flash back of Joel dying. In this flashback I believe she realised that 1. this is not what Joel would have wanted and 2. That by doing this she would become the very thing she hates, killing a protector and raiser. Now let me explain, throughout multiple cutscenes we see Ellie tackle what happened at the hospital and start to grow further away from Joel but does not do so completely. Why? Because she still has love and respect for him for what he did and that he basically raised her as evident by the Museum flash back scene, she still cherishes moments they had. By killing Abby she’s be destroying Levs parental figure and be no better than Joel for murdering the hospital in which Abby’s father was the surgeon. So she comes to the choice to let her go. Now I know I know, I felt bad letting her go but understood why Ellie did it. After all these years she finally did something that she could be proud of and that gives her life purpose. She overcame loss not by taking a life but by giving hers a new purpose. When she left that guitar behind it was an indication that she has moved on and left the past behind. Who knows what’s to come next. But one things for sure, I’m playing. Thank you so much for reading this far. Now this is just my opinion. I am not right nor am I wrong.     Incredible, amazing, awesome, can’t put into words just how good this game is. Ignore any bad user reviews because either they haven’t played the game or they are lying. If you liked the first game this basically carries on that story, the gamplay and graphical fidelity are a notch above anything out there . An absolute essential purchase. My game of the gen and PS4’s defining moment.

    I’ve read some of the bad reviews, and I have no idea what people are talking about. Most of them seem to just be going with the herd of trolls who set out to destroy the game’s ratings. This game is astonishingly good. You owe it to yourself to try this game for yourself. It’s every bit as amazing as the first one, and even better in my opinion.

    If you approve / like the writing choices made for this game you're either a sociopath or you're paid by the developers. The story of this game is a disgrace at best, a spit in the face of iconic characters (literally) and of millions of gamers. However, you can't deny the absolutely stunning graphics, and great soundtracks. In fact, these are the only good things in this wasted franchise.

    Naughty Dog managed to take a game with a deep and engaging plot and turn it into an uninspired revenge plot that captures none of the charm and nuance of the original.

    The actual game play is fine and the graphics are undeniably gorgeous. I won't knock the craftsmanship, only that the writer missed the mark entirely this time around.

From the incredible direction, writing and performance to the mechanics, audio and visual design everything is given incredible care and detail to create the world of The Last of Us. Much like the real world, the world of the last of us is cruel, unjust and filled with shades of grey. The gameplay is an evolution of the original and tweaked in order to make it more fluid and dynamic thanks to Naughty Dog's use of "motion mapping", wider environments and robust upgrade system and most importantly a more fun game to play all round.

    The story itself is enthralling, brutal, with moments that span the range of humanities emotions. The story doesn't hold back, to do so would be a detriment to the world that Naughty Dog has built and left me as a player questioning conventions of good v evil, heroes v villains.

    Having completed the game, the negative reviews stem mostly from them not completing the game, or wanting things to go their way, but like some of the best stories, the World does not work the way you want sometimes.    … Expand

    Really enjoyed the game it. Story was great, ending seemed a bit pointless. Not a fan of the combat and loot system. As it basically forces one way to play each fight (sneak) which gets boring. However the game is one of the best looking games i've played. Don't listen to reviews play the game its worth the money in my opinion.

    This game let me down. Yes, it’s beautiful and stunning with fantastic graphics and extremely good voice acting. But a game is nothing without a good story and Naughty Dog let me down. Before the spoilers were out I knew Joel would die. It made sense narratively and I was fine with it. But the way they did it just went against so many of his characteristics.     There is alot of hate, but I liked it even more then the first one. It was well writen , I think the main mistake was trying to fool everyone with trailers. But nevertheless this hame is one of the best i ever played. The ending was heavy but very fitting.

    Un juego magnífico. Una jugabilidad excelente y adictiva (los tiroteos son una maravilla), escenarios impresionantes, un sonido perfecto y un argumento VALIENTE que nos da algo nuevo, más allá de lo que todos hemos visto miles de veces y que nos aflora todo tipo de sentimientos como no lo ha hecho otro juego en mucho tiempo.
