    For such an anticipated title following the masterpiece that is the first game, Part 2 could not have been a more disappointing game to play. Imagine waiting 7 years to find out what happened to our beloved characters, only to be told a mess of a story.     This game at it's core, is a beautiful and stunning game that Naughty dog developers poured blood and sweat over, but the story and agenda this game pushes completely overshadows this experience. It is even hard to imagine a "Part 3" and Naughty Dog has really hurt their brand and Last of US franchise with this game.

    A good comparison is this game is like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, where the movie itself did extremely well in sales, but alienated the audience and that could be seen in the next movies in the franchise where Disney decided to cancel spin off titles due to poor sales. I can not, in my good conscience, recommend this game, and save yourself the 60$ and watch a let's play on Youtube.    … Expand

    This story is one of the worst stories I've ever seen in video games. Characters in this game behave completely differently from the first game. Gameplay mechanics are really similar. The ending is just the worst and makes you question why you even bothered playing till the end.

I don't care for any of these new characters but we are being forced to. That isn't good storytelling. If you played the first game and read all the tapes you knew the fireflies are going to murder Joel because he knows too much, in the second game he gets murdered in such a stupid way. It is implied that in the second part that Joel murders all the doctors when in fact you only have to murder one as the game forces you but what choice did Joel have when the Surgeon comes at him with a knife. Talk about Retcon. The only good thing from this experience is I didn't spend a lot of money game on the game (Account Share) The only bad is I can't get a refund.… Expand

The music score is boring. The graphics look nice but when there is no substance, what's the point? It works best as a tech demo rather than a game that is worth sinking many hours into.     Borrowed my friend's game, since he can't get a refund on the game due to some silly rules exception. Played for few hours before returning it to my friend. The Graphic and the gameplay is perfect, but the story and the character development just make it unpalatable. I mean, the first one has great character and story, why is the sequel is this broken?

    Its a masterpiece as to graphics, game play, but apart of that the story is a total mess, let get real with it, Naught Dog is a great company but this game totally lacks what the first represented, Bruce Straley was the great genius behind the screenplay of the first one, but replacing him with Druckmann in the sequel was the worst descision that they could have ever made :(

    Never did I think they would do that to our beloved characters from the first game. The second portion of the game becomes extremely mundane and boring and makes you not want to continue. Gameplay was good for the first few hours but becomes boring very quickly. The story was not well written and there was obvious political pandering.

    The excessively long story is clearly a platform for left-wing political ideologies, while key characters from the first game are abruptly and rudely killed off.

    Given the allegations of worker abuse at Naughty Dog and the lead developer’s affiliation to chauvinistic feminist journalists, this game should not be supported in any way.

    (TLOU1 was amazing though, go play that again instead!)

    I give this game 1 as score solely for the fact that the graphic is amazing.
    The story is a forced agenda by naughty dog and you can clearly see that if you played and loved the first chapter. I can't believe what I saw in this game it's a disgusting thing, ND you should be ashamed of yourself of the betrayed act you have done to you're fans.

    The hypocrisy and attack on anyone who does not like this game is absolutely astonishing. I have never in my life seen a game so protected by the media or by social media giants who ban people for their opinions. This is absolute madness.

    I give credit to the games graphics and sound, they are nice yes, but everything else is horrible. Firstly they kill Joel like a dog at the beginning of the game and then the rest of the game is a fight between a lesbian and a woman who looks like a man hulk. There is no progression on the story or the virus or the world around them. It's like a soap opera where people are cheating on each other, sleeping with each other and killing people from the opposite faction.

    Firstly why is Ellie an anorexic? how does she go toe to toe with a giant body builder? WTF? she takes punches to the face that would knock out any person, this is just so unrealistic. Why did they make Ellie look ugly in the later years? she looks like an activist and does nothing else worthwhile in the game. The ending is trash! I under stand if the game was going for an empire strikes back vibe, but it just sucked completely. It makes me never want to play another game by naughty dog again!

    "A bigot sandwich!" really? Everyone already accepts LGBTQ community, but it seems that the devs want to place these characters on a giant soap box just to declare their sexual orientation to the world wtf enough already. Game of thrones season 8 storytelling, gameplay honestly isnt much different from the first and yes that is important. People say “nobody plays for the gameplay” my ass. Look at death stranding it had a amazing story but aint nobody give a crap cause its gameplay was boring. This isnt boring gameplay wise but it is pretty bland. I gave it a 1 instead of a 0 because at least the graphics are significantly improved and hell, pretty groundbreaking. Its a beautiful game visually. They sacrificed everything about the game in order to force abby on everyone. It was even advertised as a joel and ellie game again and he dies 15-20 minutes in. They altered game material to show joel in the trailers but it was false advertising as they weren’t actually real, just changed scenes to make you believe this game is about joel and ellie when its really you playing a majority as this new character who is one of the most unlikeable protagonists in history. No amount of story saves the game either, the ending is horrible, the reasoning for actions is terrible. They use the cliche overused revenge is bad and “maybe we are the monsters after all” plotlines and all that moral high ground crap thats always used. Cause life always plays out like perfect karma right? The story is like luke blowing up the death star and then one of the stormtroopers onboard it had a kid who comes and kills luke instantly in the following movie for revenge. Joel even saves the new characters life right before she kills him and she doesnt even ask for his side of the story (the characters name is abby but i am saying new character so even people who havent played can tell who i am referring too). Honestly dont even want to give it a 1 but i feel like it gets that much cause of graphics and smooth unbuggy gameplay. It has good animations as well. The mocap is really well done. But metacritic is deleting low score reviews because of bombing even though people are bombing for a reason. Yet the people counter bombing or just straight up fanboy 5 star reviews all can stay. Its straight up altered scoring at that point. If the peoples opinion as a total doesnt matter then what is a point of user scores. Oh, user scores matter if they are good for AAA games. Unless its something like fallout 76 or anthem. They let people be honest on those. But not this lmao. Fanboys run the site and only let it be unbiased if it goes along with their views.… Expand

LOU2 is one of the worst games ever. The difference is one was well written and one was badly written. Propaganda and reversing expectations don't work in storytelling. Storytelling is organic. Writing to prove a point disrupts the organic nature of storytelling. Character motivations are destroyed. The pleasure from the first game is destroyed.     7 years of evolution from first part to drop all the pros. Characters, characters interactions, side characters, etc. The only good new mechianc is dogs and they're completely dissapers in second part of the game. Unbelievable fail.

Awesome graphics and attention to detail in environments - felt really ripped off that I had to play a character I hated that was not advertised or promoted in any of the trailers. Really misleading marketing.
    I got the platinum and finishing it the second time skipping cut scenes, I finished it half the time. there is too much padding that adds no value to the story or immersion.

    TLDR; Boring. Wait until later to buy it if you haven't already - there has been a record number of trade ins and definitely not the sort of game I would ever play again.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. extremely heartbreaking, i avoided the spoilers/leaks i was about to go out and get a physical copy then i accidentally saw a tweet saying Joel died in the first 2 hours of the game and at that point i don't care anymore i started watching gameplays, read user reviews and it's all true, a complete garbage ruined by some people who think they made creative choices and bold moves but in reality they delivered garbage with a cheap shock value plot twist that nobody asked for. Joel, Ellie, the programmers/graphics team deserve so much better than this awful game.… Expand

    Very nice graphics played by a one-way tunnel, zero innovation and killed what was worth it in the first one; In a game where the main thing is the story, you can't deconstruct the characters that everyone loved feeling forced, it wasn't worth it. I now sell my copy for $ 50 before it becomes known by word of mouth and not from bought critics.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is a story focused game that emphasizes mainly on the revenge theme. The graphics and sound design in the game are spot on, 10/10. Sadly everything else is shallow at best. I pre-ordered the game and my punishment was to get the platinum even if I hate it. Even based on the low difficulty for the platinum I can tell ND knew how bad the game is because most of the time when the platinum trophy is trivial you are looking at a game that is trying to sell just for trophy whores. Out of all ND games this was the easiest platinum by far.
    The gameplay is obsolete, very similar to the first iteration of the game. Let me get into details: the game follows the same pattern, you have exploration sections where you search for loot and collectibles, you have stealth combat areas where you have the option to avoid fights completely and you have sections where a conflict is triggered and you have to fight. Some game levels are completely made to build up characters and those levels can be very boring especially if you have to play a character that you hate. From the gameplay mechanics perspective they introduced craftable silencers, some shallow rope mechanics puzzles, you can dodge attacks with great animation fluidity, now characters can jump if this can be considered a new feature in a 2020 game and you have to fight against 2 new enemy types (dogs - that can follow your scent and shamblers - a new zombie type that is easier than bloaters). Besides this it is the same game as the first one. The enemies are dumb, you can create a pile of bodies and they will keep coming to you. The gameplay is pretty much the same as TLOU 1. Another annoyance is the length of the cutscenes. In the first game they were able to build relationship between Ellie and Joel by adding small auto triggered conversations while you were looting and exploring and the cutscenes were well balanced with gameplay. This game is 40% cutscenes and sometimes cutscenes are never ending. I would give it a solid 7/10 since I enjoyed some of the levels a lot, whereas I hated other levels.
    Oh boy here it comes, the big elephant in the room, the most important things: the story and character design. Based on the trailers and critic reviews you end up determining that most of the game will be about Joel and Ellie. The critic reviews will show you only Ellie gameplay. That is not the case. Half of the game you play as Ellie and half of the game you play as a new character called Abby (a strong independent woman in gaming, a political agenda on a stick, it is a pumped up version of Nadine from Uncharted 4). I don't understand at all why they tried so hard to make her as repulsive as possible, she is hideous, she always takes selfish decisions, she is way more cruel than Ellie (both of them are very cruel but when Ellie takes bad decisions it seems she does that because there is no other way and she is always heavily punished for doing so, when Abby takes bad decisions she has options, and she chooses to be a bad person and she doesn't get any punishment whatsoever, she even cheats on Mel with Owen and Mel is pregnant with Owen and the game chooses to show us a disgusting sex scene between the two). Also another political agenda is Ellie being gay. From my point of view this is done very well and it doesn't affect the story in any way, but it just seems so political from the moment when they started it with the "Left Behind" DLC. Also through out the game Ellie seems to take one stupid decision after the other, again something forced in terms of story, just because the game wants to have a reason to punish Ellie. Lev, another character is a trans person and the second half of the game follows Abby trying to save Lev and her sister Yara. Again Lev takes some stupid decisions and Yara gets punished and dies because of his mistakes. Again, another character added for political agenda purposes. Even if the game tries a lot to make you empathize and feel for the new set of characters it fails miserably because the characters seem to be so artificial, so you of place. Another big problem is Joel's death. First of all he is killed at the beginning of the game to create shock value. The problem is the way he is killed by the game. The Joel, Ellie duo relationship was the core of this game, they manage to loose that in the beginning and the big problem is the false advertisement from game trailers that show a different picture. I understand the game wants you to feel bad but the way they do it seems just very superficial and cruel. The second half of the game forces you to play as Abby and forces you to feel for her. I didn't want to play as Abby and couldn't care less about her and her motivations I wanted to see her punished for what she did to Joel. Instead the game ends with Ellie sparing Abby's life while Ellie looses 2 fingers in the final fight and she basically looses everything while Abby looses nothing.

    The mundane, dated and buggy gameplay doesn't help one bit, it only adds to the disappointment

    It is amazing how they destroyed one of the best games I've ever seen. Couldn't even finish it before I set the game on fire and threw it away. WORST STORY EVER. Only good thing? Graphics... And they're normal on today's standards. Wish I could ask for a refund but burned that on my yard.

If you loved the first The Last of Us game, story and characters, please, for the love of God, do NOT play this game! Naughty Dog does everything possible to ruin and destroy the story, dynamics and bonds earned and enjoyed with the original beautigul The Last of Us story. For example, in the beginning if the game, they Kill Joel (a Trans Abby smashes his head in with a golf club while licking her lips and slurping down the blood, skull and brain matter that splatters on her face, all the while moaning in ecstasy), then, after about 10 hours as Ellie, SJW Naughty Dog has the utter audacity to force you to play as Trans-Abby (the one that smashed in Joel's head with a golf club), and begins changing the narrative by painting Joel and Ellie as the "Bad Guys" while making the "new" Trans- Abby character into a "Superhuman-Superhero", aka "Marry Sue", meaning "IT" is now the most powerful character in the game, all the while painting "it" as a poor, victimized "thing" that has suffered so much at the evil and despicable hands of Joel and Ellie, that we MUST all feel sorry for "IT" and grant "IT" the revenge "IT" deserves by giving Abby the privilege and the obligatory, anointed right of sadistically, maliciously, brutally, maiming, destroying and finally murdering our beloved and cherished Ellie and Joel characters in conjunctionwith the e tire original The Last of Us storyline! Ultimately, Naught Dog forces us to suffer through this abomination of a story because Ellie and Joel were not SJW enough, so they must be punished for their sins with pornographic violence inflicted by a total "Marry Sue", "IT" character, aka Abby. Either political or purchased, their reviews were clearly bought. The discrepancy between "journalists" and players should tell you something. And it's not good. Speaking of, the only thing this game has going for it are the graphics, which are gorgeous. Literally everything else is terrible.
    First off, the gameplay is exactly the same from 2013, despite multiple delays. I mean, you can now jump, but only when the game deems appropriate. I hope you like a lot of cut scenes with button timing events, because there are plenty.
    The characters make terrible decisions and are replaced by someone I could not care less for. Forget the SJW crapfest, Abbey is poorly written and a 10 minute backstory doesn't make up for the slaughter of a beloved character and the ruination of another.
    That leads to the worst part of this abomination: the story. I can't clearly describe the amount of plot holes, bad lines, and horrific story writing in this glorified movie of a game. You will cringe and yell "you gotta be kidding me!" time after time after time. Characters, especially Ellie, act completely different. For example, she goes on a revenge-fueled killing spree, only to give-up at the end and let the man/girl who killed Joel go. In fact, she helps her escape. What??
    Just kidding. The absolute worst part is the graphic sex scene between Abbey & Owen, complete with bent over back dooring. It is just terrible and adds nothing more than unbelievable gratuitous shock value. And if you're wondering. Owen is Neil Druckmann without a beard. I just cannot make this up.
    Make no mistake, if you loved the first game, this will leave you with the worst aftertaste. Neil Druckmann ruined this game with his ridiculous agendas & needs blacklisted from the industry.
