    Clearly ND and Neil Druckmann is forcing the game to transition the characters so they could imply their beliefs about feminism and other "woke" stuff. We all know it and we all have seen it. I so **** love the first game that I cannot help myself but to feel bitter and hate about this one. There are so many ways to narrate and deliver the story. And no, i don't have issues about Joel's death I just hope they should've delivered it in a much much better way. I ain't no professional. I am just expressing my opinion as a gamer.

    I rate 2/10 just because of the insande graphics. story-wise? **** trash.

The game play was a bit repetitive. I wish there was more of the infected in the game you can fight instead of people. It saddens me in the way they killed Joel not with bang but wimper. Threw the baby out with the bathwater in an attempt to be edgy and give Ellie a reason to go out into the world. There were so many better storyline that could have been used. It was like an old 70s rape drama where the significant other is brutalised just to get the hero to go on a revenge quest. Lazy lazy storyline and disrespectful of the special place these characters had in the fans hearts. It wasn't even done well. Just brutal and slightly sordid with no real meaning to the death, as even at the end it never means anything... its given no depth of context, just a cursory surface level back story.... that would have resulted in Abby killing him, but not the torture that ensured. Then the m Muddled swapping from Ellie to Abby left it hard to build the same level of investment in the characters that we had last time. When we get to a point that we have to play through us as the gamer beating Ellie, it lost it for me. So many interesting possibilities never explored, such as the scars… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would’ve liked this game if it were not for the fact that playing as Abby doesn’t go anywhere. It would’ve been good to start the game playing as her right in what are currently and basically flashbacks before Joel has a huge impact on her life. We would play her story until we hear Joel’s familiar voice, but without showing his character model to leave some secrecy. We then play what is the current beginning of the game until we reach the same point of Joel and Abby coming face-to-face and we go back to Abby’s perspective until Abby kills Joel. This would give her story the proper introduction and a satisfying conclusion. Then we play as Ellie as is currently in the game all the way through to the end. This would solve the unsatisfying gameplay conclusions. However, there is still the problem of the story shoving positive interactions from Abby and negative interactions from Ellie in order to attempt to make the player like Abby. This is manipulative and shows the developers knew that the character would be unlikeable due to the story thus far. It’s lazy and shows how little thought was put into the story. The gameplay and graphics can only do so much to bandage a game that has no multiplayer and is thus relying on it’s single-player story.… Expand

    This game has such terrible writing that it amazes me how the heck did it even get approved by anyone in the development team. The game play is decent but gets stale very quickly.     Awful and too long gameplay. You just shoot all enemies on level, or was lucky to just run away without getting damage on this stupid, hard to open doors. After 15 hours i just tire to play it. Plot is terrible, especially Abby's line, it just useless for story. Only ending was strong, i think lot of people did't understand it, but it can't save whole game.

    There was basically no point in making a sequel just to piss off half of the fan base. If you're going to make a game to with a great story, you better follow it up with a better one. The story in this game SUCKS, but gameplay is decent. It becomes very repetitive very fast as you get later into the game.

    Despite technically sound game play and unbelievably stunning visuals TLOU 2 somehow manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, by trading the players painstakingly cultivated emotional investment in it's characters for narrative ingenuity and shock value.
    The experience sadly feels akin to drinking bile from pretty porcelain... Hard to stomach the beauty.

So in conclusion, the villain can get away with revenge but not the MC and has to lose everything because they loved Abby more than the two characters that helped make the Last of us such a masterpiece.     But, that someone who has played the original, can realize that the factors that made the first one a success are not present and if they are, they did not polish it well.
    Because history has the key: "revenge", constantly, they are saying that you have to take revenge against (spoiler) Abby for what she has done and does not even give the option to kill her. With the revenge key, it doesn't work in a game that was about surviving and seeing how Joel and Ellie went with their relationship.
    It is not a "haters" thing (if you are stuck in 2017), it is people who have played the game and realized that it had no similarity with the previous one. Also, does it not seem strange that the reviews will tell you a hundred in everything, when in their previous ratings they give great games between 80-90? It sounds to me like something happened to them.
    The only good thing that came out was the Gameplay, the graphics and even some flashbacks that Joel and Ellie had 2 years after the first one that expanded their relationship in a pleasant and not forced way as the rest of the story feels, I do not I import that they put things of the LGBT + with that at least that the history had been interesting, but outside, that not even that they could do well.    … Expand

I have never been that frustrated from the story, demotivated and several times asking myself if I really would like to continue playing. It completely ruined my experience from the game I was hugely waiting for. It is the first game where I in some cruel way enjoyed when character I was playing died. And several times just stoped playing and waiting until her death. Definitely not going to pre-purchase any other sequel (if there is any) and will wait for user reviews first.… Expand

    This game could have, should have named something different. There is barely anything that ties this to the last of us world. The few infected seem thrown in. There is no joy found in this game. The story is garbage. The world is more linear, with 1 open area. The graphics and gameplay are good. This game did so well off of anticipation. It's like The Last Jedi of the video game world.

    The writing is abysmal. The gameplay has almost no innovation, changes, or quality of life improvements. No Druckman, a jump button isn't innovation. There's almost no differences from the first game. The    Not spoiling anything.

    The game LOOKS good. In spite of the horrid things they make you look at sometimes.

Очень сильно проект не дотягивает до первой части.Такое ощущение что игра делалась для другой целевой аудитории. For starters the doctor from the first last of us video game wasn’t even the same doctor as Abby’ dad which leaves a huge plot hole making the game hard to follow. Second you don’t get to play as Joel in this game and ND thought it would be best to Kill Joel within 2 hours of the game. The whole game forces you to play as Abby and somehow feel bad for her after killing the most beloved character (Joel) the graphics were actually amazing but this story just sucked. Don’t play this just pretend they never made a part 2.… Expand

This game destroys the Original Franchise and is one of the if not the worst sequels to a wonderful first Part. Last of us 2 is truly a bad game.

    I loved the first game with its wonderful characters and well told story, you really felt something when important characters died because they were well written and it was believable, on the other hand tlou2 says screw that it takes a whole different direction. If you truly want to play a masterpiece I suggest you skip this one and get the first game, now thats a great game to play.

    I was so excited for the second part of the series but it turned out to be a big disappointment, I would give credit for the hard work they did on graphical aspects, combat development and overall atmosphere/theme but the story was awful in so many ways. Indeed, what the establishment ‘professional reviewers’ ignore is that a game is more about the gameplay and graphics. It needs to have emotional appeal and storytelling that can endear the gamer. The LOU1 had this in abundance. However, the LOU2 in its cause to ‘subvert expectations’ has given us something cheap, gut-wrenching and non-sensical which leaves (especially, fans of this franchise.) you feeling absolutely empty and resigned, e.g. the application of Joel’s death was similar to the death of Luke Skywalker.

    No hay problema con la comunidad LGBT, pero si hay que incluirla que sea de una forma adecuada y que no con fines de lucro, además de que para llegar a este resultado mediocre no había que sobreexplotar a los empleados. De paso podrían hacer menos cinemáticas y más juego.

Joel dies within the first hour of the game which is just a slap in the face to anyone who played the first game. This should've been an adventure with Joel and Ellie, not Ellie and Abby.     First half of the game isn't bad at all, but once you have to play as Abby the game goes down hill. Her story is pointless and wish you could have finished the job as Ellie and avenged Joel, but nope they had to let her live for another sequel. Such a disappointment!

What message is naughty dog beating us over the head with? That revenge is bad and forgiveness is good? I’m sorry that is a weak plot . We’ve seen this cliche done better before. The music was phenomenal and I liked how we were able to play a guitar in game. However the game lacks in story and good characters, which made the first Last of Us a masterpiece, in my opinion. Al poco tiempo de iniciar el juego, este se volvió tedioso y aburrido, el tiempo solo se alargaba y el final se veía más lejano, por eso, o terminas jugando por hacer valer tu dinero o eliminandolo.
    Sobre la jugabilidad, es la misma que en el primer juego, con un par de novedades insignificantes como el uso de las cuerdas, el uso del caballo en unas partes del juego o el uso de la guitarra.
    Sobre la banda sonora, el juego brilla por su ausencia, se escuda ridículamente en Future Days de Pearl Jam (que suena como 3 veces en el juego) y Take On Me de a-ha. Por ahí se logra distinguir un par de veces una canción similar al del anterior juego, pero en cortos lapsos de tiempo.
    Sobre la historia, fue pésimamente ejecutada, al inicio la historia se basa en muchas casualidades, tantas que pierde realismo o, al menos, credibilidad. Ocurre que JUSTO Joel hace esto y JUSTO tal persona lo encuentra y JUSTO luego ocurre tal cosa y ahi JUSTO Ellie se hallaba por ahí. Además de que los personajes pierden su esencia, Tommy y Joel de ser expertos contrabandistas y sobrevivientes, se reducen a ingenuos e inocentes, lo que produce que terminen (inconcientemente) en la boca del lobo. Además que, al parecer, según el juego, solo hay un Joel en el mundo. Ya que, los hechos se dan luego de que Abby escucha el nombre Joel, sin considerar que podría ser otro. Luego, está la villanía de Ellie y la imposición de Abby al jugador, y es que ND convirtió a una joven aparentemente lista y calculadora en alguien realmente estúpida (cegada por la ira y el capricho), inoportuna y sin sentido para construir y desarrollar a una nueva (Abby) que, habiendolo perdido todo, es más valiente, por momentos más humana y que tiene un futuro más allá de la venganza. Todo esto demostrado (forzadamente) en los hechos del juego, como cuando Ellie pierde el control de las situaciones, simplemente por estupidez, las cuales terminan en las innecesarias y crueles muertes de Owen y la embarazada Mel en el acuario y en el pequeño (y fallido) escape de Norah en el hospital. Sin embargo, demuestran con otras escenas que Abby es más humana, "buena" e inteligente como en las escenas con los perros, cuando deja vivir por segunda vez a Ellie, a pesar de su enojo, y cuando se desvía de sus labores para ayudar a Lev y Yara. Por otro lado, se observa un innecesario énfasis en las orientaciones sexuales de los personajes como en las escenas entre Dina y Ellie y algunos diálogos con Lev (Alice). Esto puede resultar insultante para un jugador conservador o religioso, ya que, o estás totalmente de acuerdo con el colectivo LGTBQ o recibirás un escupitajo descarado por parte de ND con este juego.
    Finalmente, el juego cierra de la manera más absurda posible, retomando forzosamente la venganza de Ellie, lo cual era necesario ya que de otra forma el juego no tendría desenlace. Para que, nuevamente, JUSTO al final Ellie tome un poco de consciencia, decida romper el ciclo de venganza y deje ir a Abby, habiendo destrozado ya su mundo. Quedan Abby como un personaje redimido y con futuro y Ellie como un personaje en decadencia y fracasado, de manera que ND destruyó a su personaje principal.
    En resumen, es un juego incompleto con partes absurdas, demasiado forzadas e incoherentes. ND se burló de su público, con los trailers engañosos, la inserción forzosa de Abby, los comentarios soberbios de Neil Druckmann y los reviews engañosos de la mayoría de revistas y críticos. En conclusión, el juego traiciona a la anterior entrega y a la base de su éxito y muchos jugadores caen, inexplicablemente, ante el hype que levanto el juego antes de su lanzamiento. No merece el GOTY ni los puntajes perfectos, habiendo juegos más esenciales que este prescindible.    … Expand

    Also they remove the main character after promoting them on all trailers.. Like how ??

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even after a couple of weeks of going over this in my head it’s still hard to know where to start.

    The biggest issue here is that this game is the much anticipated sequel to The Last of Us, which was a great game with an engrossing story. The major talking point here, and why this game is so polarizing, is the story itself.

    Frankly, the story is a mess and my biggest problem is the continuity of it. The games story suffers greatly from a case of too many ideas, all trying to be be crammed in to to one encompassing volume. We expect some level of flashbacks in the story as per in the first game, but the constant switching and changing up of viewpoints is downright Tarantinoesque.

    I don’t expect this could have been fixed simply by making the whole sequence linear, that's too simplistic, and there are points to be made of events happening in parallel that makes the storytelling difficult from a single perspective, if not impossible.

    However, this greatly detracts from the continuity, and I never got the sense of engrossing story I did from the first game, the disjointed nature of the storytelling made it a chore to follow events to a conclusion. And when we get to the conclusion its such a jumbled mess it makes you wonder if the 30+ hours you’ve put in were worth it.

    It seems that Neil Druckmann had the concept of where the story wanted to go, as a parable of vengeance, but made it so contrived that the execution of seems to have been extremely poorly managed. Whether it was the high expectations set by the first game, or he simply wilted under the pressure to resolve character arcs that were always going to difficult to manage. (You wonder how the death of a key character such as Joel could have been handled so clumsily.)

    There have been some controversy about the characters, but personally, I could not care less about the sexuality, gender or musculature of the main characters. Just make them engrossing and fit in to the story without awkwardly and randomly lurching from one event to the next, breaking any sense of immersion.

    There are other negatives, such as some of the combat sequences, when the controls and jagged camera angles can make for some frustrating gameplay, which can also get repetitive. But these are minor compared to the storytelling debacle.

    As for the positives, the level design and environment are great and visually stunning. You can tell a lot of effort has been put in to this and the small details, for example the way water runs off objects and pools, are incredible. As a stand alone game it may have been enough to make it good, even great.

    So in conclusion, the damage has been done, it’s out there now. Maybe they can salvage something from it, but it will stay with me for a while as a major disappointment – for not being able to live up to the expectations as a worthy sequel to the much loved first game in the series.    … Expand

    The last of us sold because story was excellent. This game was the reverse . I don't want to hear " but the gameplay" or graphics are good. Forcing you to make decisions and then belittling you for them sucks. Hated new characters and ending sucks.
