    This is the game that the world doesn't deserve. This is more than just a game. You can't tell me and absolutely can't tell me that you hate the game just because Joel dies in the first 3 hours. You can't tell me that because if you tell me that that means you are just an ignorant "fan". My favorite game off all time is The Last of Us. My favorite character from all the games i've played in my entire life, and i played games for more than 15 years, is Joel. The most badass, cruel,friendly with some people and caring person ever made, in my opinion.I have tens of thousands of hours of playing singleplayer games and multiplayer games and almost none of them moved me in some type of way.Almost none, because there are few that acomplished that. There are a few games that made me feel emotions, happiness, anger, sadness and after finishing them they left me speechless. One of them, and the best of all is the The Last of Us. Part 2 did the same thing, sometimes it was more intense. But Part 1 is still my favorite game of all time, just because it was the first one, and it started it all. Part 2 is a darker game, a more violent game, and it isn't a bad thing, if you aren't a child, because the world where we live in it's just as dark as the game,but in other ways, because there are no zombies among us, but there are horrible things, but we can not see them because they are well hidden by we know who, and some people don't understand that. If you are upset that Ellie is a LGBTQ+ character, please, just go back some hundreds of years ago and live there. It is 2020 where every person should know that there are different persons on this planet, and everyone can love whatever gendere they want, and be what gender they want. Thi is part of the freedom we want and we have. This isn't a planet for a single type of persons, it is for all of us. And the part with politics that i am hearing, if that is actually true, we deserve that for our behaviour against simple things that we don't want to accept. You can't tell me that there is a better story telling game. But if you do, make sure that you played the entire game, played yourselves, and feel the game yourself, not on youtube watching a random youtuber, that has half of the brain required to think more about a story. This drives me crazy when i see streamers just calling this game "a piece of s**t", and they didn't play singleplayer games only by themselves and feel the games just on streams rading the chat. You should have your own opinion, if you are an open minded person, about this game.Ok they leaked a lot of things about the game, they leaked some untrue things, but this is marketing guys, this is how you do it, because if you don't people will lose interest. This was one of the most hyped games of all time, it had a bigger impact that everything else in the gaming history. This game is one of the best games ever made that the world is not understanding and that is why we don't deserve it.… Expand

    It's the best game in which I played and this game changed my view of human relationships.
    It is great sequel and I hope will play The last of us part III in future.

    Horrible decision with the story. I've loved all previous Naughty Dog games but not this one. Why would you make us play as Abby? Who in there right mind thought this was a good idea? I have a better idea. How about continue with the first story and finish finding the cure to save humanity. I will never purchase another Naughty Dog game that Neil Druckman is a part of. He thinks he is aHorrible decision with the story. I've loved all previous Naughty Dog games but not this one. Why would you make us play as Abby? Who in there right mind thought this was a good idea? I have a better idea. How about continue with the first story and finish finding the cure to save humanity. I will never purchase another Naughty Dog game that Neil Druckman is a part of. He thinks he is a better writer than he actually is. He just went for shock value. Just rolled credits on the game, the game as a whole imo is a masterpiece, yes you will Probably think that the ending was meh but I felt it was great, if Ellie had finished Abby she would have been no better and she had already gotten her revenge,
    The gameplay is also extremely dank!
    But yeah me someone who wasn’t looking forward to the game after looking at the leaks (without context anything is dumb) would probably rank this as my 2nd or 3rd fav game this gen just behind rdr2 and death stranding.

    This game manages to take its predecessor’s uniqueness and trample on it. Repetitive gameplay and clunky controls plague the game, shock value is inserted for cheap affect instead of building likable characters, and the moral ambiguities of the previous game are nowhere to be seen.

    The first one was brilliant. I purposely avoided spoilers. Couldn't finish this one the direction they took it was tragic. Devastated LGBTQ & PCness is being rammed down our throat's by people with a personal agenda ruining video games first BFV no this.
    To add insult to injury was reminded of my dad's death on Father's Day no less.
    GUTTED.

    the most disappointing ending I've ever seen in my life, gameplay is ok I guess, but it's like **** John Wick forgave the **** guy who killed his dog, I'm so disappointed I can't even stress it. 4 years waiting for this game, my favorite game, to get this **** and it doesn't even have multiplayer, wich I have supported throughout all these years.     This game is very bad. This is not even a game, but rather a very mediocre film. I was particularly offended by the need to kill dogs, without this the game could not be completed. It's disgusting.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is the most beautiful game I have ever played. The opening scene alone is worth a 10/10. But looks alone can only take a game so far . Here are some of the problems I observed while playing the game:

    1) it just way too dark - the story of Last of us used to be about hope even in the bleakest of times , but the sequel has completely forgotten that and made it a half broken story about revenge and most of all the story was so dark that since I have finished the game I don't even want to look at my PS4.

    2) the story has a lot of narrative flaws - I mean a lot 3) combat is the same as the previous game - basically they just copied the previous games combat with a few minor improvements

    Pro tip: when you fight Ellie just let her kill you 10 - 20 time's it's the most satisfying thing in the game

    Shameful game and way they treated the characters. Neil Druckman here out of his mind shoving more political messages than the actual theme of the game.     Spolier free Review: been playing this game for the last few days now and I love every minute of it. Of course you are gonna play a ND game for its story but story is not the stong point of this game, the environment is. all thw people who are review bombing it are pathetic to say the least.

El juego en si mismo esta bien, tiene buenos gráficos la jugabilidad es exelente, entre otras cosas, la historia me pareció una buena historia solamente que tengo que destacar algo de ella, es que el personaje de 'joel" no le dieron mucho más tiempo en las horas de juego, pero tampoco puntuaria un 0 o un 1 porque si puntuarias eso no tendrías en cuenta los graficos, la jugabilidad,etc… Expand

    Os desenvolvedores deveriam ter vergonha.
    Não crítico por causa da lacração sobre homossexuais mas sim sobre uma história medíocre e sem sal.
    Só dei 1 porque pelo menos os gráficos estavam bons.

Because it turned out not the way everybody anticipating for, on the one side, but not bad and kinda interesting on the other. It has so many pluses on the one side and so many minuses on the other. I'm confused. But, I must say, after finishing this game, I overall liked it.
    It's hard to love this game, you know, because of serious and cruel drama going on here...
    Ok, let's delve into details, to make the picture more understandable.

    Pros

    - Graphics, picture, atmosphere
    - Gameplay similar to the first part, with many minor and few major improvements, and it is good
    - The game contains many interesting surprises, tailoring the storyline, and I can only salute such an approach. Most developers do not surprise and entertain us, "Save the world", they say, "Ok",-you think, "Story is not the case here".
    - Story representation itself gives many topics to discuss, aside from the main storyline, behavioral of many characters, situations, world state itself. It's deeper than most say it is. Don't simplify it, think, observe. It's a video book if you wish. Overall, I enjoyed the story. The story is not worse than the first part, even better, it's just less charming.
    - People say the ending is bad. I disagree, it's positive and kinda realistic. I loved it.
    - The devil in the details, they say. Naughty dog conquered the devil, I say. Cmon, pay some respect to developers...
    - There are remarkable entertainment moments in gameplay, like when you are attacking wolves together with Tommy (u think, it's him)
    - Hey, let's be honest, there are kind and lovely moments in-game also

    Cons

    - They killed Joel, ruthlessly and irrevocably >_<
    Joel delivers tons of charisma, he was our man. And they just killed them in the first two hours. Hard and brave start, I say. The consequence of such a brave and bold move is a red zero on Metacritic and the fall of future sales of the franchise. I respect that. They killed him, knowing what's coming, I am sure.

    On the other side, do we need another Joel and Elly happy end adventure, I am not sure?
    - Now, about half of the game, u will control character, who killed Joel. Are you serious?
    Ok, a realistic story from many points of view, I understand, I will endure... It will be hard, especially at the start.
    - The most confusing part, in the beginning, was the motivation of my character. She wants to brutal revenge. I do not approve of such an incentive. And evil Elly faces in the menus, gosh...
    Later I understood, that it is for the sake of art, ok...
    - Game is so brutal that it requires you even to kill dogs! Well, I don't mind killing zombies or villains, but dogs... Even for me, it's too much... Give us a zombie dog, at least. Oops...
    - And they killed your horse too. Fck, why this game is so cruel. Does it have to be that way?
    - Ellie.. . Ellie in the first part was energetic, cheerful, and charming. In this part, she is a cold stone. Do you believe this? Does it fit her?
    - I can understand and believe the motivation of every character of this game, except Ellie...
    - The story lost two main charismatic characters and gets none (charismatic). You don't sympathize with anyone in this game (besides Joel and... see below).
    Among the secondary characters, I can highlight only Jessie and a dog in the stadium, with whom u had a chance to play a ball a little bit. Sadly, that's all. Seriously, they don't care about selling the game, they just draw as they like? What do they want here?
    - For me, the game is too long and respectively too slow in storytelling.
    - In my opinion, they abuse too much darkness. It's annoying to play in darkness and they make you play in darkness quite often. I'll prefer to improve the difficulty of encounters by other means, then putting me in the darkness. I understand, zombies... but still.

    - Neutral

    - The game itself, is harder to complete, then the first part. They even made a new zombie super boss. HAHA, suffer!
    - When I am comparing the first part with the second, I remember comparing of RE 2 vs RE 3 Remake. In the case of RE, I equally like them both, in this case, I'll say, the first part I like a little bit more. It is uncertain what game will beat the mark of Last of Us part 1 in its genre, it is one of the best games ever. It's hard to make a better sequel for this.

    Now, what about the scores, you say. For me, it's still 10 out of 10. If you are okay with the story, and I am, I enjoyed it, it's unquestionable. It is not the way, we expected, but it still delivers. For me, at least.    … Expand

I can say no matter what happens with the story this game is a stellar sequel to the first. The gameplay is improved, the graphics are improved, and the story, while controversial, is very real. You can’t expect everyone to be safe simply because they are main characters. Killing characters off made this game world feel way more real than it did already. Fantastic game through and through, and all the negative feedback was day one, which people didn’t even play the game. Review bombing because you don’t like the way the story goes is BS… Expand

    I genuinely hated this game for a solid 4-6 hours into the second half of the story. I kept telling myself the gamey would have to pull off a miracle in the end for this to all be worth it. While calling the ending a miracle is definitely hyperbole, the game ultimately succeeded in what I personally needed it to in order for it to all be worth it in the end. This game made me feel sick to my stomach, it made me question myself and it genuinely disturbed me. Some may see this as shock value but, trauma really is shocking. That is why it is trauma. As someone who has dealt with trauma, Ellie's journey in this sequel is deeply personal to me. Experiencing Ellie's trauma along with her via the sudden flashes of Joel really gives the game a dark sense of realism and depth. Ellie's episode in the barn was heartbreaking and felt as though my heart was being torn from my chest. I wanted nothing more than to hug Ellie in that moment, to somehow comfort her.

    No game or film has ever moved me like this. You have so many people on the hate bandwagon, saying this game is poorly written because they are incapable of discerning subtext or decoding non-linear story structures. This is a game that should only be experienced free of leaks and spoilers. If ever there was a story that could be tainted by such a thing, it is this one. Certain individuals will simply close themselves off and reject the story in its entirely due solely to the fact that said scenes exist rather than endeavor to understand what they mean in the broader context.

    There are many people succumbing to the social pressures of their in-group to despise this game and it is more tragic than the story itself. In years time, I know many will look back more favorably upon this game. This is certainly a story that requires effort from the viewer, something gamers keep claiming they want but refuse to accept it when they finally get it. This is the most mature story I've ever experienced in a video game, not just when it comes to themes but with what it asks of the player. You will be challenged, you will be expected to discern subtext and you will be expected to piece together the non-linear narrative. If this is something you are not comfortable doing, then I can certainly see why you would dislike this narrative.

    This is not a generic revenge story. Those that say it is are the same who say that !!SPOILER!! Ellie should have killed Abby. The fact that Ellie lets her go and the reason behind it is precisely why this game is so much more than a generic revenge story. In the very moment Ellie decides to spare Abby, she breaks the cycle. In that very moment, Ellie has finally forgiven Abby for what she did, forgiven Joel for taking from her what she perceived to be her life's purpose but most of all, she has forgiven herself... You see, this game is not about Ellie's war with Abby, it is about Ellie and Abby's wars with themselves.

    Ellie blames herself for Joel's death because she is the reason he made the decision to save her, despite what that meant. She blames herself for being immune. She blames herself for not being able to provide a cure. She blames herself for being unable to forgive Joel for what he did; being unable to reconcile before his death. In the very moment Ellie spares Abby, instead of seeing a traumatic flash of Joel's bloody face, we see a flash of Joel sitting in a chair on the porch, playing his guitar. Finally she is able to let go of her guilt, finally she is able to forgive Joel for doing what he did to save her, finally she is able to forgive Abby for her transgressions against her broken family, finally she is able to forgive herself for being the catalyst for this entire series of events.

    This story is deeply disturbing, tragic, heartfelt and has a bleak sense of realism. This game is not a window into an ideal world which audiences are so comfortable with. It is a mirror that reflects the darkness of humanity back at you and forces you to feel and see things you are not comfortable with. That is why this game is so divisive. Some people just cannot handle the mirror, they prefer the window.

    This is the most important game I have ever experienced and I suspect it may change my life moreso than the first installment.    … Expand

    The gameplay is a (slightly) improved version of the one in the first part, which was great then and still is.

    The game mostly suffers from the story. Specifically the order in which the story is told, since I believe the finished narrative is actually great and ends fittingly to what was built up over the course of about 25 hours. On that note, the game has a much different feel to it compared to the first one (as in that it is significantly darker), which is by far not a bad thing and executed quite well, but I understand how it could have caught people off guard.
    However, there is one fight towards the end of the game that was kind of off putting and interfered with my immersion, but I understand what Naughty Dog was going for and I would not constitute it as grounds for the whole game being bad.

    To address the "pandering" aspect that is often criticized, i understand how SJW can appear obnoxious in the same way that anything else can be obnoxious when overdone. The matter was however handled very maturely and shouldn't be an issue whatsoever.
    Other than Ellie being gay (which was already established in the first part) and having a bisexual girlfriend (which was actually foreshadowed by Ellie being **** GAY), there is a 13 year old character that was born a girl but appears as a boy in every other significant way. Her gender is in no way shoved in the players face.
    There is also a woman, which some assume to be trans simply because she is muscular yet there are flashbacks where she is shown as a girl.

    It is kind of sad how this game was review bombed even before the game was released and I can't think of an honest/realistic justification to rate the overall experience anything less than mediocre.
    I read the leaks after I finished the game and while true, they are taken out of context and heavily and unsupportedly interpreted upon.

While i loved the graphics and detail i can say for certain that's the only thing this game has. It played like the first game with some additions, the forced open area searching was just as overdone as it was in Uncharted 4 and i am already tired of it. The way the characters are now from the first game makes no sense that they would not have changed their mindset from the beginning. The way Joel stands out in the center of an unknown group and then doesn't lie makes no sense, also Tommy being that trusting to a stranger isn't feasible as from the first game. Either way at the end of the day the revenge story stinks, Abby gets away with cold blooded murder, and Joel is a wasted death stopped playing after that and i want my money back NaughtyDog.… Expand

    this game is amazing. it makes us thinking so much and it can be related to a lot in our lives. definitely not a game for everyone, I bet there gonna be a lot of childish boys complaining lol we know a lot of them do not use their brains and just want to be badass through a game and many prejudiced people will try to find anything to disqualify the game. for me it's 10/10 for ever aspect.

What people are mad about is how the story was executed. How do you kill off the main character in the first 2 hours of the game. And the way he dies is so disrespectful to him. Then they make us play as the killer for 10 hours!? What a joke. They even failed to write a simple revenge story.     I was one of the lucky ones to avoid the leaked spoilers on youtube, and I was disgusted on how there were people out there that wanted to spoil the game for everyone. But even if I was to have seen the spoilers I still would have purchased the game and played it for myself.

    Gameplay was awesome, I loved the combat, and how you can upgrade your weapons and even ammo ect... The graphics are beautiful, I can only imagine what they can do with a sequel on the Playstation 5.

Let’s start of with the thing that pissed me off the most, the death of Joel. Joel is extremely smart in the first game, he literally saw a “wounded” man walking towards him, and knew there was an ambush, but in the second, he saves Abby and goes with her, without knowing anything about her. That is not how Joel would act, it doesn’t fit his character in any way. Then we have Ellie, In the beginning she was amazing, but once you play the game, she goes for revenge, and once she gets the chance to honor Joel, the person who she loved the most, after losing everything (including the ability to play the guitar which was the only thing that reminded her of Joel), she decides that she went far enough, she doesn’t get any moment to shine in the whole game, and doesn’t even complete her goal. Then we have Abby, first with no backstory and only 20 minutes of playing with her, she kills Joel, and that was very poorly executed, because after killing Joel we have to play with her like for 15 hours, and all their attempts for us to get to empathize with her fail, because of her killing Joel, with no backstory at the time. This is not a good game, it kills many fan favorites, and doesn’t do them justice. They killed the highlight of the first game and my own personal favorite character (Joel), and then they made Ellie suffer more than she should. In my opinion they should just leave the game here, and don’t follow the story anymore.… Expand

The story could have been way better than it ended up being. I mean come on Joel didn't have to die that way. And for those who keep complaining about the fact that he was foolish to trust Abby , just keep in mind that he was trying to change somehow for Ellie's shake. Also about Abby I am not sure if it was better for her to die or not. I was a bit confused at this moment. Ellie at the end is shown to be left behind by Dina but there's something debatable on the ending. In my opinion Dina didn't leave her, they just moved back on Jackson and Ellie came back only to find Joel's guitar making it the ending she deserved, leaving the past behind. Also I enjoyed playing as Abby too as it was a more realistic way to show that every story has two sides to be told. I cannot say that I liked Abby but at some point I sympathized with her. It was an unforgettable 30 hours gaming experience but I am not sure if I am going to revisit this game at least for a a long time.… Expand

    Well all I have to say is, how can a company be so political? How can they turn something that was soooooooo hyped and praised into something that shouldn't have happened. The last of us part 1 is a game I have held high even before I played it. I wish this wasn't a game, but it is, and we have to live with it. Graphic wise amazing
