This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is all im going to say about this game:
    Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 10/10 (same as the first game)
    Storyline and plot: 2/10

I loved the first LOU game and can definitely say it is masterpiece. The characters were great, the story was great. Overall it was one of the best zombie survival games i have ever played. When i saw they were making a new one i was so hyped, but im disappointed with Naughty Dog. The LOU 2 is not a Masterpiece (Critics please stop sucking Neil Druckmans dick and saying this game can compete with the first one because it cant.) It has its good moment (the flashbacks) and some parts are fun. But it does so many things wrong. First of all Joel dies in the first mission (WTF) im not angry about him dying, its the way he dies (Joel the alpha male who travelled across half the US, slaying hordes of clickers and hunters and then fighting his way through hospital filled with heavily armoured Fireflies all the while protecting a young Ellie is taken down by a golf club.) So stupid. Then you are forced to play as his killer and experience why she wanted to kill him, no one gives a **** about her. Im pretty sure the first thing everyone did with Abby is kill her using a pipe bomb just to redeem the game a little more! Then the ending...so you (Ellie) kill everyone involved in Joels killing in brutal ways. But as soon as you get to the person who actually did the deed, your like "eh, i cbb to kill you so ill just let you go and get no revenge whatsoever" This discount Greta Thunburg gets away with killing one of the most beloved characters in the series. wtf is this.

The TLOU 2 is a fine game, but not a masterpiece. So stfu critics.

Imagine waiting 7 years to not play as ellie for more than half of the game, False advertising Joel being in the game more when he gets killed off not even 2 hours in AND his killer gets to walk free after killing hundreds to get to her. AND They want us to “sympathize” with Abby??? No. The way the story is and ends doesn’t sit right with me. No closure at all and leaves you with so many questions. This is exactly how to ruin a perfect game with a **** sequel. If they make part 3 it’s gonna be a disaster. HOWEVER, The game mechanics and the universe are perfect but they should’ve worked more on putting that storyline together that actually made sense than worrying about perfect graphics and game mechanics because people are playing for THE STORY after all. Total frustration. And all this SJW sh*t is not the biggest problem. Poor plot, not an interesting characters, alogical twists and actions, boring gameplay. I can commend great visual and good animation. But it's not enough for a game. You can't watch just on good graphics 30 hrs in a row.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After actually playing the game I'm really disappointed. Chrakters are bland, Joel gets killed right of the bat, Ellie is pretty flat as a character, her "girlfriend" Dina is, too. There's almost no story behind her nor does she get shown a lot in the game. Every character also gets kicked out the game instantly, nothing emotional (not even Joels death). Not even the characters remember them after they're dead. You play as the unlikable Abby for half the game. NO ONE LIKES HER. It's also unbelievable that Joel gets with a group of people he doesn't know, and Abby killing him after he saved her life. This then all comes down to Ellie and Abby killing person after person until pretty much no one even remotely interesting is left (not even Ellie, as her character also got really bland in this game and didn't develop at all, just like every other character).

Joel pretty much gets a big fat "f*ck you" in his face from Ellie while he's alive in the first 10% of the game. Then, suddenly Ellie gets mad and wants to kill Abby, which she eventually...

DOESN'T DO. In the end when you get back to the house it all seems like a bad nighmare with actually nothing happening in the real world in tlou2.

In the end the devs, trailers and the game itself cover up everything that made the first game great (aside from Gameplay, which was quite alright) with great visuals and sound design. And unfortunately players of the 1st game get blinded by that.
It feels rushed. Everything. It's a trash game. Good graphics tho I guess...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Last of Us is my favorite video game of all time. I preordered the Ellie Edition as soon as it was available. And now I'd rather flush my fking 250 bucks right into the toilet AFTER FINISHING THE GMAE. The story is a piece of sh*t and does not make any sense. And fans are totally entitled to be angry about it. Neil was doing everything that he could to make people like Abby and hate Ellie. Guess what? None of these worked. When I reached to the point where I was forced to play as Abby for nearly 10 hours, I was so confused. I don’t give a single sh*t ABOUT ABBY’S BACKSTORY! Abby is still an unlikeable character, let alone the other new characters that were created with no depth what so ever. How dare you Neil Druckmann, to take everything that I love about the first game, twist it, and make it just a social message of your own. To think forcing play to let Abby go in the end was a genius move, it just shows how untalented and incompetent he is as a writer. It's a shame that Druckmann is using LGBTQ as a cover to hide just how much an untalented writer he is. LGBTQ groups should be offended because they were just used like tools by Neil Druckmann. Well, here's my message to you, Druckmann, doesn't matter how much power was given to you, an untalented writer will always be an untalented writer. Sisters arm is smashed to pieces with a hammer, sister is killed, he kills his own mother, a war destroys his home island, literally everyone wants to kill him as soon as they spot him, ...) Even in a post-apocalyptic world, I think that is quite something. Oh I see but this lovely "girl" Abby comes to his rescue. A glimpse of hope!
The only thing they skipped is that the child of Owens girlfriend is already 1 month old and Ellie slashes the babies head off. If you are in such a rage you cannot stop, can you? Maybe they left this for part 3.
But of course, its all for a good reason, the deep message behind it bla bla bla
For me this story is just trash. Revenge and too much violence is bad? I tell you something, I already guessed that before playing the game. And the political correctness, although I am not against it in general, is so over the top that it would ruin the story, if there would be a story.
They sacrificed everything that the players loved about part 1, maybe to satisfy Neil Druckmans ego? Who knows.
If this would be just another post-apocalyptic world with infected game, it would be ok (great graphics, great detailed design of the environment, story not so important) But a very disappointing sequel to TLOU.

However, with such astonishing achievement, the story which these Technical performance give Advantages to tell, the story itself is poor. In order to not spoil, I could say the story divide into two parts, almost can say it could two different storyline for the game. Yet, Naught Dog have made poor decision to combine and how they did it. Which nearly bur all the good sides of the stories, and made players wondering what the purpose for playing, which I believe is doesn’t and shouldn’t matter with other values and message developers what to carry out. This feeling is far more significant when one playing on Hard/Survivor difficulty, when the story is one of the biggest motivation for challenging gameplay, unlike any FromSoft game that is gameplay is already far more than enough.

One might argued that TLOU2 is relatively good in a absolute standard, but lets not forget many Big Companies and Studios always could create new game with good graphic etc, which they should able to do so. Good Graphics are just the means to present a great story, especially for story telling game like TLOU. The Lord the Rings Trilogy didn’t won multiple Oscar by high budgets or Fancy CGI, but the story and world that Tolkien created.

Look, I'm not a little fangirl gamer...graphics are great and all (and they are truly awesome in this game), but the story is where it's at. If you want a good looking game where the story doesn't matter, go pick up a dime-a-dozen shooter and play that. I expected a beautifully written game that was compelling and kept it's hooks in you the entire time (just like TLOU) and sadly, I feel that we received a pile of contrived B movie garbage instead. I'm not sure if the writers were too busy playing on their phones, sleeping or what, but the 'run of the mill' revenge story that has been played out for years, the plot holes that are large enough to park my can in and the meh/uninteresting characters are just too much for one game. I'm sorry, but in my opinion, the magic that existed in TLOU is gone and it'll probably never come back.

Neither should you have us sympathize with a serial killer who has no regrets and wouldn't mind killing pregnant people. Neil says it's "worth it" to play it for yourself, I suggest watching playthroughs of the game and then deciding on your own if it's worth your purchase. Apart from this, the company's horrible crunch time, and the creative director making fun of people who come forth about why they dislike this game, Naughtydog isn't the same company we all praised about anymore, and I don't plan on buying anymore titles from them in the future.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m honestly at a loss on how this game could stray so far away from its roots. Personally I’m tired of beautiful games that are just shallow in lore, stories, and interesting characters. While ND has continued to show their ability for map design and lighting, the gameplay seems to be almost untouched on improvements since 2013. Gunplay seems clunky and AI running straight at you with zero evasive ability while you clearly have a gun drawn on them feels brain dead. Not to mention the amount of bugs I experienced was something I expect from EA. THE STORY.... where to even start? The disrespect for Joel, the unloveable Abby, countless NPCs I’m supposed to care about but don’t... half the game spent trying to manipulate my first impression. Going on a murderous rampage for revenge, only for absolutely no pay off. I felt like the one being spit on.

It felt like there could had been a completely different arrangement of events to kill Joel off (If you absolutely felt the need too) and introduce Abby. A better back story and flash backs of the fireflies vs the Gov, memorable events from the last game sprinkled in as the trickling effects of Abby story is shaped by Joel. It all felt hollow and rushed like the narrative was so forced, the writers couldn’t even stomach enough to put typical ND effort in. I’ve already sold my copy to someone else as there’s zero Replay-ability due to the lack of MP and the fact I wish I could just get my time back from this game. I really tried to give it the game a chance even though I deleted/redownloaded twice out of pure distaste. I’ve played a lot of bad games over the years, most of which were bad due to being unfinished or due to indie Devs, but this, this was the opposite of everything I wanted to happen EVERY SINGLE TIME.

This game is filled with stunning visuals, great voice acting, smooth transitions, and intuitive gameplay. Unfortunately, this is a story based game and quite frankly the story is bad. The first game was about redemption, rebuilding a broken and terrible man into a decent human being who becomes the father figure of a scared and lonely girl. Her light, helps to rebuild Joel and make him probably the most loved father figure character in gaming. Then the writers completely destroy that very early in the second game. Ellie treats him poorly and she cannot relate to the fact that he loves her and wants to protect her like a father would. She pushes him away at every opportunity. The release timing on this game couldn’t have been worse, Father’s Day weekend...WOW...you want to destroy a beloved father on Father’s Day weekend...unbelievable!

Most fans expected that Joel would die in the sequel. My problem is not that he dies, but rather, how he dies. Torture? Really? I understand Abby wanting revenge for her fathers death, but the torture was not warranted. We are supposed to be ok with this and then you want us to play more than half the game as Abby. We HATE Abby for torturing and killing Joel. There can be no redemption story here. The writers have overreached in thinking that players would accept Abby after this. We’ve spent hours upon hours of playing as Joel and Ellie and have grown to love him. You can’t possibly torture one of them and not expect a visceral reaction.

I was ready to quit playing when the game started to make me play as Abby, but my love for the first game made me see this one through to the end. There were too many subtleties to mention here about how the writers attempted to make Abby the good guy and Ellie the bad guy...Abby loves dogs, Ellie kills dogs, Etc. I absolutely hated playing as Abby.

The game did have some good moments. The flashback to Joel taking Ellie for a birthday surprise was excellent. It was thoughtful, meaningful, and heartfelt. It really was special.

There was a point near the end that I thought some sort of overall story redemption could happen, but it didn’t, it got worse. When Ellie rescued Abby and Lev at the end I thought “hey, this would be a great time for Ellie to see it wasn’t worth it and Abby’s concern for Lev was worth letting her live and leave in peace”. Instead, the writers created one of the most brutal fight scenes I’ve had to play. I was begging for it to stop. I hated what they turned Ellie into. THAT’S NOT ELLIE!

I’m appalled at what the writers have done to these beloved characters. I play games for enjoyment. Think of it as a mini-escape from real life. I don’t need ugly terrible lessons shoved down my throat. This game was a hard and terrible pill to swallow. I wish now that I didn’t finish the game. They have ruined the story line for me. I started a new game+, but have found that I just am not interested. I’ve replayed the first game at least a dozen times on 2 platforms, I won’t be playing The Last Of Us 2 again. That really saddens me. They’ve ruined the franchise. If they make a part 3, I won’t buy it. They lied to us over and over in the lead up to part 2. I can’t trust them again. So, they may have ruined the Naughty Dog name as well. I am beyond sad about this game.

I hear that they’re getting an HBO series based on this...I WON’T BE WATCHING!

It isn't just the story that is the problem, but the storytelling, the execution. pacing, believability, and transitions from gameplay to story were so far from the standards of the first game it is hard to believe this game was made by the same developers.

About 20% of the reason I looked forward to this next installment in the franchise was for combat and game play. That' the only reason I gave this game a 2, rather than a 0.

There is more I could critique about this game, but I don't have the energy. The disappointment is exhausting.

Why did the developers think anyone would want to play as abby, or give a **** about her (and the other characters) when she brutally tortured and killed a character everyone liked. For a choice that everyone understands. And the way he died is unbelieveable. I would have wanted to see way more of the way Joel and Ellies relation progressed after the prequel. And if they were gonna kill Joel at least make it a believable story. And let us get the revenge we wanted. This just leaves everyone angry. F U, U naughty naughty dodge. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a long ride, so skip it if you wish so. Because spoilers. But you're just here to **** on the game like me, why do I give a ****?

First, I don't think it ruins the first game. it COMPLETELY destroys the reputation of the the series, but doesn't make the original less of a masterpiece. Second, the graphics are amazing, but by this point, Naughty Dog is the CEO of good visuals of this decade, so good. And third, this should have never happened. Seven years ago when I was a dumb kid, I wish so hard that it had a sequel, but as time passed, I understood that good things doesn't come in filled buckets. So I think it would have been best if this never happened, like many streamers and youtubers seem to agree on.

Let's talk about gameplay, graphics and story, that are the prime of naughty dog as a company.

Gameplay: Naughty dog can't make a stealth game even if their life depended on it. And since this is the proper approach for completing the game, I'll have to **** on it. In a Stealth game, it can go two ways. Or the enemies are so stupid that you can have fun just messing with the AI, OR is too good that you have to exploit it knowing they will do exactly that because they are so perfect. And this game is the second option but in a weird way. You can pick up a zombie/human, alone, but if he turns half a centimeter to you, you enter a combat animation, alerting all the others around you, and making your dumbass partner start shooting. It's absolutely frustrating, if you played or even watched, you know what am talking about. In the rest, THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FIRST ONE. I think you even pick the weapons in the same order. NoriDog is good for action **** and I hope they stick with it.

Graphics: They are amazing, I have nothing else to say. But giving games a high praise for the graphics alone is stupid. Graphics should combine with the tone of the game, like shovel night or team fortress 2, or create one for it, like cuphead or bendy. And it does a great job at using the realistic graphics to make us feel the despair in every scene. Good. And attention to detail is stupid. They are just doing because they know critics are going to give them a higher score for it. Is not like it matters in any category.

Story: What can I say that hasn't been said by somebody else? Well. Imagine if Lee from TWD game survived the first season, but then got killed in place of Omid by that random chick in the bathroom. And the rest of the game is just you uneventfully trying to get revenge on her. Despite she having nothing against you, Nor does know you're coming after her. Thats it. But halfway the **** game you play like, what should had been a DLC, seeing the side of the antagonist. But by this point, you're so blood thirsty for Joel that you probably killed her several times for fun. Nobody likes the character. and her gameplay is mostly just action and LGBT **** which, by the way, don't buy it. If you're pregnant, don't go fight a civil war. And if you're trans, don't be crazy stupid and die just to prove a point.

This game is probably the biggest deception you'll ever see in your life. But since is a very infamous game, you're just gonna admit it's bull**** and then forgot about it. I'll do that too, everyone shall and will. Goodbye Ellie and Joel, I hope the internet place you in a pedestal where you will receive the praise and love you both deserve, as any amazing character should.

    Thank you.

Sound design was pretty standard. No complaints there. This game would probably be one of the best games ever made if it weren't for the fact the story is no good whatsoever. It's like the staff was kept the same EXCEPT for the creative directors.

I cannot recommend this game for anyone who enjoyed the first one. If you hated the first one, and its entire character cast, then this game is for you. Otherwise I would recommend passing this up. I would never pay for this game personally.

The story has ruined just about everything that was good about the first game. This was one of the worst stories I have ever had the misfortune of finding. I'm not sure what they were thinking but this isn't it. There was only one part I actually enjoyed and it was the museum flashback. The gameplay is pretty good and so is the setting. This isn't what I was looking for though, I wanted a good story and this did not deliver. It seems like all the big gaming magazines and companies gave it a great review and it makes me wonder if we even played the same game.

One of my main complaints is that the first game had so much character development and this one had none. Most of what happened in this game was a flashback and it jumped around so much you have to really pay attention. It also seems like they try to force you to like a character in the game and it just doesn't work.

Google and Amazon seem to be blocking reviews. It was a bad game, let the gamers review it. I bought the game and have completed it and my reviews are still being taken down or blocked.

To summarize, I would ignore Part 2 and just enjoy the first game. I thought I wanted Part 2 but after seeing what they created, for the first time in my life, I wish it didn't exist. If there is one thing I wish I could forget, it is this game. This game was so terrible I do not recognize this as an actual sequel to the masterpiece that was the original. As South Park would say this was an "f you, you'll buy it" product.

The seriously lazy writing and prevalent plot holes in this game are beyond a joke! This is nothing but an interactive movie that forces every decision for the player down a rabbit hole. The numerous glitches and clunky gameplay show that the developers never cared about making a good game, they wanted their vision of a movie prequel to the tv series and that's all this piece of garbage game was.

The story falls flat on its face. There are so many decisions the characters make that are just plain stupid such as Joel trusting strangers, Tommy asking Ellie to risk her life for him and Ellie choosing to spare the life of the person who killed Joel.

    Furthermore, the game seems to have some sort of agenda to make men look weak. All the male characters are just useless in the game and often taken out by the opposite gender, for example;

Joel is killed off by a female
Tommy's wife calls upon Ellie to save her 'useless husband' as she puts it
Jesse is killed by a female
Tommy pleads with Ellie to hunt down a female (After preventing and trying to protect her from hunting her down in the first place)
Isaac (A leader of a fierce group) is killed by a female

Overall game play is very good but since the story is boring, unrealistic and just rubbish, its not possible to score high in my opinion.

Audio, graphics and gameplay were top notch, but the storytelling and pacing destroyed what could have been a masterpiece. I wanted to stay spoiler free because I have been waiting to play this game for so many years and I wanted another incredible experience but I wish i would have just looked at the spoilers and saved my money. What broke the game wasn't the emphasis on strong female characters or the attention payed to the trans/gay side of the characters. In fact NDs storytelling seems to have just used Ellie/Dina/Lev as lazy inserts to appear "woke" and didn't flesh out any of these characters to their full potential. What destroyed the game in my opinion was how the handled Killing Joel. It's okay for a main character to be killed off, but when you slow torture one of the most beloved characters in recent videogame history right at the beginning of the game and then expect the player to empathize with the killer...well, the fans reaction speaks for itself. Not only is its story nihilistic, devoid of intrigue, and stocked with uncharismatic characters and banal writing (often, about their romantic lives), it's also a thinly veiled attempt to introduce inappropriate and bizarre beliefs into a medium that should be about enjoyable experiences, not about some developer's personal hangups.

This was not made to be enjoyed, it was made to sneer, to lecture, and to talk down to its audience. We should not encourage such things in the gaming industry and, sadly, they are becoming increasingly commonplace.

Whatever merit it has as a technical achievement are mooted by its off-putting writing and the seething condescension that drips from its screenplay. This isn't a game, it's a sneering statement. I give it two points for its craftsmanship which, while not at all groundbreaking, is competent and occasionally quite artistically satisfying.

Died with him and main driving force to complete the story After Joel died was to kill Abby. And I was let down at the ending when she was basically save by Ellie for torturing and kill Joel among other things so unsatisfying. Expand

A miserable experience almost from start to finish. What little fun that could be derived from the gameplay is completely undermined by a confoundingly poor story. The game is plagued by horrendous pacing issues, huge amounts of scavenging downtime and bleak, uninteresting dialogue, amid many more problems.

You want to kill Joel, well no but ok I see what you want with story. You want to transform Ellie into killing machine so she goes for revenge. OK I got it, all fine.

BUT WHY IN THE **** END WOULD YOU NOT MAKE US THE PLAYERS TO MAKE THAT DECISION TO SAVE/KILL HER

Story and flashbacks where very random and placed on random spots, if you ask me, and didnt make any sense.

Was it worth. We was waiting 7 years to get this. NOT WORTH AT ALL !

2/10 and be happy with this 2

Graphics don't make a goty. It's visually pleasing but that's where it stops. TLOU2 completely abandoned what made TLOU such a great game. The gameplay is boring and drawn out, and the story is weak at best. By the end I was rushing through it just to finish the game and move on.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanna start by saying that it's important to remember that the first game was a game with a very heavy emphasis on story, and therefore I think this sequal is more for the fans of the original game, rather than newcomers to the franchise (since it's a continuation of an already developed story). I avoided all spoilers to give this game a fair chance. Sadly, it was immensely disappointing, ruining both main characters of the original game. The pacing of the game, with the flashbacks within flashbacks and such was really weird and badly executed. All of this is such a shame, since the visuals, gameplay and atmosphere is definitely "game of the year" worthy, but the bad story, bad character development (of most of the characters), and inclusion of a horribly dull and uninteresting main "villain" just made this game uninteresting and boring for more than half of my playtime, and why would I give a boring game a high rating? Either way, I had such high hopes for this game, and it's just really sad that naughty dog couldn't live up to their previous standards. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the game while we played as Ellie. The fact that she is gay actually makes the story better; more unique and original. But when we have to play as a character that kills our beloved character Joel, the game goes downhill instantly. They try, we cannot sympathize with Abby. She is a terrible person and we hate her. The fact that have to fight Ellie as Abby made me really sad. It was torture, like beating up one of your closest friends. And we don't get to kill Abby, which is absurd. They know that we wanted that, why didn't they give it to us? It's not the fact that Joel died, it's how he died. Brutally murdered and tortured. The people that like this game didn't appreciate and respect the first one enough. And the fact that Ellie loses her fingers and cannot play the song she wrote for Joel at the end, is heartbreaking. That was the only thing she had left of Joel; the guitar. At the end, Ellie is left with nothing. Her girlfriend and JJ are gone, and she cannot even play the guitar. Waited so long for this game. Such a sad, sad disappointment. I could go on, but I've ranted enough already earlier today. Please, if you love Ellie and Joel as characters, DO NOT play this game. Expand

The story is so bad, why did Ellie go all the way through and killed a lot of people to forgive the taht awful characters at the end and at the very last moment? They changed all that TLOU meant.

The only reason I’m not giving it a 0 is because from a technical point of view the game is amazingly beautiful and pays attention to so many details that have until now only been reflected in real life, never before in video games.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
