Best artwork put into a game ever. Music, graphics, facial expressions... just groundbreaking. The game just doesn’t get a 10 because the “new story” isn’t far as profound as the one in TLOU1. However, the story is not what I would call “bad” and its parts directly linked to the first one are as awesome as it was in the first game. The thing is, TLOU1 has set the bar too damn high. All in all, TLOU2 is great and Naughty Dog is the best storyteller in the gaming industry for sure. Totally worth it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us part II is a tough game to review since after I beat the game I enjoyed it and would have given the game a 9/10. However, after thinking about the story and analyzing the game's story, I realized how poor the writing was. The gameplay is a 10/10, it's versatile, each combat encounter can be tackled in a different way. The player can stealth kill enemies, go in guns blazing, or mix gunplay with stealth. The sound is fantastic, gun shots sound realistic, the voice acting is top notch and the environment sounds are great like the sound of the currents of a stream or the snow being trampled under the players feet. Another impressive aspect of the game are the graphics. It is impressive that the ps4 can output visuals like in the Last of Us part II. The first Last of Us was known for its excellent story and satisfying ending. The Last of Us part II falls short in the story and because the main selling point of the game was the narrative, I deduct 6 points for the manipulative writing. Neil Druckman clearly wants to manipulate the player into vilifying Ellie and loving Abby. However, Neil and Haley Gross fail in every conceivable way. First of all, in the story Ellie kills a dog when she goes to the aquarium, however, when playing as Abby the player plays with the dog that Ellie kills. The reason ellie hunts Abby is because she kills Joel in the most brutal way, its a cheap shock value move. The problem is Abby just is an irredeemable character, she revels in violence and killing. For example, Abby feels nothing for how she killed Joel or when she goes to hunt Ellie for killing her friends she holds a knife to Dina's neck about to slit her throat when Ellie tells her she is pregnant and Abby responds "good", reveling in the idea of slitting Dina's throat, before Lev stops her from slitting Dina's throat. Ellie, on the other hand, feels remorse when she kills people involved in Joel's death. Ellie beats a woman to death in order to force information out of her, and Ellie feels remorse. Ellie kills two people in the aquarium, one of whom was pregnant, Ellie collapses in remorseful guilt. Even though Neil and Haley wanted players to feel for Abby and shun Ellie, the opposite ends up happening. Players end up feeling for Ellie and hating Abby with a passion. The reason I use the writers names instead of the company, Naughty dog that developed the game is because in the past when Amy Henig was in charge, the writing was excellent and the games were superb. Those games under Amy were 9/10's. Neil Druckman cheapens Naughty Dog's IPs and should not be forgiven for ruining the Last of Us series for good. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I actually find it annoying that this game was bombed with negative reviews within hours of its release. As someone who has played the entire game I can confidently say that it is amazing, I do not believe it is better than the first one however it doesn't come too far off. The fact that people are giving the entire game 0 out of 10 reviews is a shame before even playing it because they're pressed about the death of Joel. Regardless I never thought of that to be a problem when it came to gameplay or visuals, people are saying the entire game is trash due to the fact that they're butthurt about one thing which truly is unfair to people who wanted to play the game as they get a misconstrued idea of what the game actually is. I had no problem with any of the gameplay, in fact I believe the gameplay aspect was better than the first. The biggest criticism of the game is the storyline, I agree it is worse than the first game but as a whole it really isn't even a quarter as bad as people make it out to be. The only thing I didn't like about it was the ending sequence between Ellie and Abby, I understand peoples frustration how she didn't even end up getting killed because trust me, I was just as annoyed. However, people don't appreciate the cutscenes we got between Ellie and Joel which to me provided more meaning to their relationship and ended the game in almost a perfect manner. I didn't care who I controlled, as long as I got a good game and I certainly did. Though as the player we are tasked with the impossible challenge to feel sympathetic toward Abby, we at least are provided with an explanation to her motives and know what her revenge story is as the game isn't completely about Ellie, and the gameplay we are given whilst controlling Abby is some of the best in the game (such as the hotel and hospital sequences). If you are a salty 14 year old kid who can't deal with the fact that the main character isn't playable in this game, you need to grow up, Naughty Dog took a bold move and still made one of the best games to play without him. Its not like we saw nothing of Joel the whole way through, in fact the cutscenes we got were probably more meaningful than any gameplay we could have had with Joel, so I advise people to actually play the game - yes the story isn't as good but the game is incredible Expand

A awful, lazy job by the writing team and a disrespectful outcome after 7 years development to the people how loved the first game.

    Gameplay

The game is far from perfect, even story wise, but first let's see the technical aspects. The gameplay is virtually unchanged from the first part of the game. That's a 7 year old title, which wasn't exactly ground breaking even then. I haven't seen a QTE in a game for a long time,

However there are improvements to the gameplay, but mostly just streamlining. I could play this more effectively than the first one, the stealth seems more smooth and predictable. And in most encounters you can actually choose if you take down all enemies or stealth through, both approaches are effective.

The gameplay doesn't get boring, because it is broken up by cutscenes, and slower segments of exploration. And on top of that the game switches between multiple playable characters that have slightly different abilities. There are also occasional flashback sequences.

What I found most annoying is the constant shortage of resources. And it's not the availability of resources in the environment, but the fact that you can't stock up on things. Your ammo carrying capacity is limited to 6-10 bullets / weapon. That is ridiculously low. And you can only carry 3 of each crafting material, when many of the materials are shared between multiple craftable items.

The gameplay is solid even if a bit disappointing in terms of there being no new mechanics at all. The combat difficulty setting is quite meaningless, as the hardest part of the game is when you fight monsters that instakill you. And there is no difference in that whether you play on hardest or easiest. So the game is not "journo easy" to say the least.

    The technical aspects

There are areas where the game made huge leaps. Namely character animations. This game has the best animations, facial and otherwise that I've seen in anything. It seems to me that they made the leap where people's muscles are actually simulated, I mean the body parts are not rigid, but change their shape depending on movements and actions, as the muscles contract and relax. I have not seen that in any other game to date.

The graphics is up there with the best, but not actually the best. I think in terms of characters Detroit Become Human still has it beat, and in terms of the environment Ghost Recon Breakpoint is superior. But this one is not far behind, and of course this is great in both the environment and the characters, so not just a one trick pony like those games.

    The Story

Oh this is the hard bit to judge without specifics. First thing first: I could not detect an ounce of SJW influence in the game, or feminist frequency for that matter. The writing is not suffering like in the case of XCOM Chimera Squad, the characters aren't quota mandated, or defined by their gender. There is no dunking on men, or proclaiming of female superiority or any trans sex for that matter.

There is nothing to fear unless you are disheartened by the mere inclusion of a strong female character. And strong in this case means physically strong.

The main focal point of the story is trying to humanize the enemy. Which funny enough I was contemplating in my review of the first Last of Us, that the bad guys are always portrayed as psychopaths or sociopaths in these stories and it made no sense to me. Well that changes here and now. As we see the story playing both sides. In fact in my case, and I may be alone in this, the roles were completely reversed. I was actually rooting for the supposed anti-hero.

The first 20 hours of the game was pretty amazing, I enjoyed the hell out of it. But we should've left things as they were in Seattle. If the story stopped right after that I'd have named this game of the year. But no, they had to just keep dragging it on, and on, and on. This is a clear case where less would've been more.

Everything that happens after Seattle feels rushed, there are huge leaps in time and space, that make zero sense. It's as if they suddenly cancelled The Last of Us 3 and quickly slapped the key points of it's proposed story arc to the end of this game. I hated that bit, for being so depressive.
    Final thoughts

This was a roller coaster alright, unfortunately one that just slid off the tracks at the, instead of coming to a graceful stop at a station. That said however I wouldn't have missed the first 20 hours of the game for any reason.

I know this is advice that is impossible to keep, but you are better off quitting the game after Seattle and never finishing it. It would've been better for me for sure. I feel miserable now. I felt hopeful at that point. But the fact that I feel miserable is a kind of testament to the quality of writing. My subconscious cannot tell that these are fictional characters, and I feel awfully sorry for them, even though my conscious mind knows it's not real.

I feel like a game is the perfect way to tell a story like this by letting me play as characters from both sides of the story. The setup makes it feel like a traditional tale of revenge with a clear hero and villain, but very quickly makes you question who's really the hero, or if anyone's really the "good guy" at the end of the day.

Ultimately I ended up rooting for all the characters to somehow figure out a way to win, and I think it's really amazing that the story was able to pull that off.

The gameplay felt solid; aiming/shooting mechanics seemed improved a bit from the first game, although the looting system (largely the same as the first game) detracted from the story a bit. There were times when the story was conveying a sense of urgency that I needed to be somewhere, but I couldn't help searching every corner of an abandoned building looking for items I might need. I think it resulted in a balanced and fun combat system where I had to think about what weapons I might use in a certain encounter based on what I had, but a part of me wishes I could've focused on the story instead. There's a New Game +, and I'm considering playing through again with all my gear, but on a lower difficulty so I can experience the story without having to worry about looting as much.

I think there are a lot of bad reviews because people were expecting the story to go in a specific direction, and expectations like that can be damaging. I think the story is dark, sad, and complex. If you're looking for a story that will cheer you up, this is not the video game for you. As far as gameplay goes, while it improved a bit over the first, I felt some of the sections of the game (specially day 1) could have been a bit shorter. The documents and everything else you find helps you deepen the story of people living between those 2 factions, but it will get a bit ehxausting with time.

But this gane shows that every good guy is allways the villain in the story of someone else. And if you thoight Joel is or was a hero then you didnt understand part 1

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At the end of The Last of Us Part II, there are several scenes which end on a cut to black which holds for a few seconds before the next scene begins. During many of the holds, I thought that was it: the game was done and that was the end. And though some were more happier and some were devastating, each of them would have been a powerful ending. The way that each new scene could rephrase or restate everything going before it was astounding. Any of these endings would have worked but still each new one deepened my appreciation for the game.

The only reason any of that works, then is because the game first weaves an intensely intricate story, spending hours establishing the setting, introducing and developing characters, and presenting themes and motifs that are echoed in these "endings".

Of course this game doesn't do that on its own, it obviously leans on its predecessor. This is the best kind of sequel, one that deepens your appreciation of the original not by retreading the same points, instead it deepening the emotional core of the first game. I think "Part 2" is an appropriate name. This isn't telling the next "The Last of Us" story. This is telling the second half of the same story.

I don't think I need to say that the presentation (graphics, audio, VO/MC performances) of the game is amazing. The gameplay was enjoyable, making only a few quality of life improvements from the formula of the first game. I played on a harder-than-I-normally-would difficulty, which forced me to be much more tactical, taking time to scour for supplies and choose carefully when to use them. Playing this way helped the gameplay build into the dire, fight and claw for your life mood of the setting.

I sympathize with anyone who wanted this to be a different game. I've been there before and it's not fun. But by taking the game on its own terms, what I got from this game was an immensely impactful emotional experience. While not everyone will love the story even on its terms, I don't think it's fair to compare the game against what you hoped. Because what it we do have is something pretty amazing.

Regardless of whether the story took a turn that many people did not like, Naugthy Dog was brave enough to take a risk and create a complex story that is years ahead of most games from big studios

Graphics are great but that's it. The story is really odd and an no point did I ever get the warm/fuzzy immersion feeling like I did in the first game. My gf used to just sit there and watch me play the 1st game and this one she was totally not interested. Total flop and should never have been made.

Waited 7 years for a sequel that's absolutely heart breaking and pointless. The whole story is legit shambles none of it made sense. Could of gone other ways for an ending and a plot but clearly who ever wrote the script was probably drunk and had no real feelings towards their fans! The first last of us will always be better than the second period.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all: I can understand that people dislike the Game!

I finished the game today and for me ist is a masterpiece! Here is why:

Ellie, Ellie, Ellie! That Girl is so badass! i really enjoyed here seeking for revenge and here romance with Dina it all makes here so human (maybe more then some gamers nowadays can handle?)
I hated to see Joel dying that early in the Game but thats the only thing i really dislike. Ok, maybe i wanted to jump off the roof with abby when i was forced to play her in the second half of the Game but that is what makes the Game so awesome. You have to get over that anger and try to understand what she did (btw i still hate her). It really broke my heart when i had to fight and nearly kill Ellie with her but i still felt glad that Ellie spared her life in the very End. She finally was able to make a cut and move on. I really hope they develop a 3rd Game and Ellie finds back to Dina and JJ, they are both her family and the only way she finds love and peace in the End.

If you want a game that really gives you unforgetable Memorys and feelings this one is a must-buy.
For me the best Single Player experience since years.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished the game. While I thought the frost one was one of the best game ever made. I been playing video games more than 40 years and I have played many sequels. I seen ups and downs over the years, saying that, I have never looked forward to a game more than this game, I put up with all of the delays, I bought the special edition and eagerly waited to play, I have spent over 25 hours over the last 5 days playing it. I have never been so disappointed. The first half of the game was really great, but when I was forced to play as Abby, I felt sick to my stomach. If I would have know I was going to be forced to play a character that I hated, I would not have bought the game day one, would have waited until the price dropped. The only enjoyment I got was finding repeatedly why to kill her, my favorite was, having her jump of the skyscraper bridge. I hate her so much and to play it just to finish the game is so wrong. I am not even going back to play it again to get the platinum trophy. So if love the first one, just wait the the greatest hits version come out. Btw I am not a bot. What a terrible disappointment, being looking forward to this game for 7 years. This story is so forced and badly writing and doesn't make any sense. What made the first game so special was the main characters relationship, and it doesn't get any screentime at all. 2-3 hours out of a 25-hour long game.

The game treats Ellie like trash turning her from a joyful pun loving character to someone from the DCEU. Last of Us 2 goes from a linear game to a small hub open world for one section only just to go back to a linear game, which was disappointing as there are no real alternate paths to lead to same goal or small area for weapons/resources. the two characters have different weapons and ability upgrades which was ice for the first play through i wish on new game plus the both characters got the others weapons and some of the crafting skills, as i really liked the crossbow and the incendiary shotgun shells. if you really want to play this wait for it to go on deep sale or borrow from someone who has it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I managed to avoid all the leaks and spoilers and didn't read any reviews prior to playing. I intended to play this game with a blank slate so that I could truly appreciate what I thought was going to be one of the best sequels ever made.

    Intro
I regard The Last of Us (original game) to be one of the best games I've ever played. Part II doesn't match for me. The storytelling, gameplay, and the graphical achievement of the original are what made the first game great in my opinion - with the storytelling part being the strongest element. Part II utterly lacked the storytelling element for me, and not because bad things happened and I didn't like them. While I was playing, I often thought "what is the point in this?"

    The Story
I'm just going to get straight to the point here because it's my main criticism of the game. Very early on in the game, the antagonist is established to the audience since she kills our father figure antihero protagonist from the original game. No problem, the scene is set. It makes sense; his history has finally caught up with him, but in the most brutal fashion imaginable. The audience now hates her and wants to kill her and intends to spend the rest of the game seeking Joel's vengeance.

After this painful and angering moment, the audience is forced to play about half the game as Abby. I understand that the intentions of Naughty Dog here were to show that there are two sides to every story, but it was done ineffectively here. Her side of the story didn't connect with me in any way whatsoever. I found myself trying to speedrun parts of the game where I had to play as her because I simply had no interest in trying to understand her motives and lacked any empathy for the antagonist. As mentioned before, I didn't see the point. The audience is angry with this character and is now being forced to play entire segments they simply have no care or pity for. We see a sequence where her father, a surgeon who was about to perform the fatal procedure on Ellie, was killed by Joel in order to save her life. So what? The audience doesn't connect with Abby's side of the narrative because they are accustomed to Joel's story and it felt as though this other story was being shoehorned in. There was no value in showing the antagonist's side of the story.

Throughout the narrative, major characters die. This isn't a problem in itself - but the impact of these deaths lost effect once the audience begins to realise there's no real reason these people are dying. Joel dies, Nora dies, Owen dies, Mel dies, Yara dies, Jesse dies, and so do a couple more of Abby's friends. What was the point? There was no resolution to any of these deaths and I asked "what are the developers trying to do here?" The audience empathised with Ellie on Joel's death and that was the majority of it. There was no sense in killing characters other than a small part of Nora's death because it felt as though Ellie's story was progressing. For the rest, the audience got nothing in return and there was no sense of fulfilment anywhere to be had. It's puzzling here trying to understand what Naughty Dog intended.

Naturally, Joel's death was most impactful and sets the audience hellbent on wanting some form of meaning from the very beginning - what is going to become of his death? In the end, the answer was simply nothing. His killer gets away and we played an entire 25 hour or so narrative so that we could see her get away with it even though everything leading up to the end made us want her dead. Every other plot point up until then just felt like filler. Ellie's relationship with Dina, Dina's pregnancy, the guitar, Abby's entire segments - it all felt like filler and the audience just wanted to be done with it and get to the story-rich part of the game, which sadly never came.

    The Gameplay
The game plays much like the original with improvement and additional features such as being able to go prone in tall grass for additional stealth, or being able to slip through small cracks as a means of evading enemies. For some gamers accustomed to fast-paced action, gameplay might feel sluggish. However, fans of the original should appreciate it because of its familiar and unique survival elements. My one criticism here is that controls occasionally felt unresponsive; sometimes button presses weren't registering and I sometimes found myself mashing triangle to pick up items, then going back because it missed them.

This game is also possibly the most accessible game ever made up to now. There are numerous options for gameplay customisation for those who may need special requirements.

    Graphical Achievement
Similar to the original game, these will be the best graphics of this ending console generation - it pushed current and ageing console hardware to its limits. Attention to detail in the game environments were very well done and are a marvel to look at.

The environments and scenery is gorgeous, I love the enhancements and add-ons to the combat and sneaking mechanics. The story seems to be what people are angry about for some reason, but there wasn't anything in here that was a disappointment or a concern for me, personally. In fact, there's a clever mechanic they use in the second half of the game where it clicked for me about why people were hating on the game, but four hours into it, I could see that it's really effective so I can't even complain about that!

Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story and writing is amazing. What makes it great is the step away from cookie cutter stories of typical games/shows/movies. Anyone can die and the moral conflicts will have you wondering if you're the hero and if you'll get your revenge. If you must be the hero who get theirs way then this game may not be for you and any other fair-weather gamers. Excellent story telling and character development. Expansive environment is overwhelming to explore at times and enemy AI is a little lackluster.

No gamer enjoys having the character you play as swapped unknowingly mid game. I was so upset I stopped and waited until I got some sleep. The emotional toll is so real I didn't want to play as the person I should be killing. While my view of the character didn't change from seeing her story, its all a vicious cycle and Joel didn't NEED to kill everyone at the hospital, I began to take joy in knowing everything she had was being taken from her while you play from her perspective. The saddest part was losing Owen, who seemed to struggle more realistically with being a good friend and wanting to leave Joel in the past. His character would of done well in a longer story. The ending for me was great and satisfied. It was not about Ellie getting revenge but getting right with herself. The struggle between wanting to have died for a cure and accepting the love of Joel for saving her was a real balance Ellie needed to find. She felt bad for having telling him He should have let her die and felt obligated to avenge his death. If you don't like the story then go read some books. Not every games story you play should have the exact same story arc outline and meet your character expectations.

This is the first time I feel the need to write a metacritic review. Maybe it's the first of many others... Anyway.
TLOU2 is the symbol of EVERYTHING WRONG with the gaming industry right now. It is a technical masterpiece, wasted by a horrible storytelling, tainted with the political agendas of the editors (no, sorry: POLITICIANS).
The developers, the actors, they're all so talented. But they all work for a company that disrespects them AND their customers.

And then, there are the unanimous critic reviews. Apparently, this game is perfect, period. Anyone who lives (so, literally EVERYONE) knows that perfection does NOT exist. It just doesn't. So how come that game be perfect? It CAN'T.
Which just shows what is happening behind the scenes. It doesn't take a lot of braincells to understand. The critic reviews were entirely paid. You do know bribery is supposed to be illegal, right?

Anyway, back to the game. It's so long it gets boring. It just drags on and on and on. At some point it feels like the end, but nope, here we go again for a few more hours.
It tries to tell a non-linear story, but the changes of time are so random it's just annoying.
And the story... Dude! What have they done to my beloved characters??? Joel is extremely stupid, whereas he was a cold-blooded clever man before. Ellie is a monster for no other reason than shock value. Her bloodthirst is NOT justified by revenge. It's just not how humans work. People don't go on a rampage just to get revenge. That's a cliché that just doesn't happen. It's a shame because TLOU characters were so realistic and believable. In this game, they're not.
The revenge plot is an overused trope, and TLOU2 brings NOTHING to that idea. But worse than that, the end of the game utterly DESTROYS the message that "revenge is bad". Yeah: they managed to fail a cliché message! How can you be so incompetent?

Unlike the positive reviews who pretend there's nothing wrong, I won't pretend there's nothing right. From a technical standpoint, again, it's a masterpiece. There are a few scenes that are actually good: the introduction that sums up the end of the first game, and some flashbacks of Ellie and Joel.

TLOU is remembered for its beloved characters in a simple but effective story. TLOU2 will be remembered as the symbol of everything wrong in the current industry: games now are a marketing ploy, and the politicians that now govern the industry simply don't care about the game, nor about their developers, nor about their customers.

The story is literally pointless and absolutely depressing. Joel's death was poorly written. Joel survived so much hell in the first game. He was impaled and survived. He spent months being bed ridden. He fought so many bandits, fireflies, and infected and overcame all of it. All that feels so pointless if he just dies so easily two hours into the sequel. His fight for survival in the first game is cheapened since we see him die so easily after waltzing into the hand of the enemy.

Abby is mean and unpleasant. She has sex with Owen and acts like she doesn't care the next day even though he was in a relationship with a pregnant woman. I get they try to make us empathize with her. But honestly anyone with half a brain can understand why she did what she did. Joel killed her dad and dismantled the fireflies. We get it. We don’t have to play as her for half the game to understand that. Especially if she’s gonna be so coarse and bland the whole time. Abby has no chemistry with her friends (except Manny). She treats Owen like crap, she disrespects Mel's relationship, and once Manny is shot in the face she doesn't take even half a second to mention him or show some grief. Playing as her did not make me feel any worse for killing them.

Her arc of helping Yara is pointless because Yara dies an hour after you go through all that freaking trouble to cut her infected arm off. I did not want to play as Abby for half the game. I did not want to fight Ellie as Abby. I tried making Ellie kill me to see if that was an option but it was not. Playing as Abby was so draining and it made the pacing bad. I thought this game was Ellie's story! I did not sign up to play as a character with no personality who's story amounts to nothing. The whole California part is even more pointless. If Ellie did not go, Abby would have died at the Rattler base and Ellie would have kept her family and fingers. Her trip there makes no sense and is very stupid. And to make matters worse, they make you play guitar with missing fingers and it is literally so disturbing. Almost as disturbing as Abby's awful sex scene.

Also, I did not appreciate how Ellie and Dina have sex the day after their first freaking kiss. Who does that? Ellie is so madly in love with her but we don't have any reason to like her that much.
Jesse was the only character I liked aside from Joel and he is shot in the face out of nowhere and never spoken about again outside of some dumb collectible note. They just had to get rid of him so he could be out of the picture once the baby was born. He ends up just being a sperm donor. Which sucks because he was so nice to Ellie and was not bitter about her moving on with Dina.

I am trying to be fair by giving it a 5 because everything was good aside from the story. But the story is the most important thing in a game like this. By the end of the game I felt utterly unfulfilled. I didn't even like Ellie anymore. I wish it TLOU 2 did not exist and that we stopped after the first installment. So many people die in this game and it all amounts to nothing. This story amounts to nothing. Joel dies, Jesse dies, Tommy is divorced and crippled, Ellie is alone and missing fingers, and for what? What was the point of this? Honestly this is a demented, twisted, slaughter fest of a game and it really did not tell a compelling enough story to warrant being so dark.

A masterful exploration of hate, grief, loss, and the true cost of vengeance. The most deeply human game I’ve ever played.

The first half was sublime, it touch high notes in every aspect of the game, and then the writters just left the player alone with a piece of **** history... It is pretendious, it force the player to play with a bad written villain and not only one mission, for the entire rest of the game. I was convinced that this game would be goty material and in my humble opinion it will never be goty Expand

The new characters were not well developed and frankly I felt apathetic throughout. The Ellie and Dina storyline had potential to be memorable but they decided to make you play the game as another character and failed to accomplish anything any reasonable person didn't already understand about Abby.

The gameplay is painfully and frustratingly repetitive and meaningless. This game did not need to be as long as it is.

The game looked and sounded great. But it meant nothing because it was a waste of time playing. Like having a beautiful high performance car that doesn't run. I could go on to rip this game apart a lot more but I don't want to waste any more time with this game. The saving grace is that I bought a physical copy so I will be returning it.

One of the best games I have ever played. Period.

It looks stunning, the game-play is smooth and entertaining and the story is one of the most original and most surprising ever created in a video-game. I absolutely do not understand the amount of hate created by other users. What the hell are you comparing it to? This game stands out in almost every aspect.

The story is very unconventional. It offers decisions and twists never seen in a video-game before. It is very mature and controversial and I am afraid that most of the players aren't ready yet to play anything else than easy, straightforward and simple to understand games.
Creating this game was a brave move from the developers but I think that the gaming society is not ready for it yet. I truly believe that one day it will be perceived as a milestone in the gaming industry.

Look at the difference between Critic Reviews and User Reviews. Why is that? Game journalists are adult and mature people with years of experience with video-games. A user can be anyone for example 14 years old kid who is just not ready to process all the emotions and moral topics this game provides.

This is just my opinion. Thank you for reading.

I think even the people who hate this game agree on how absurdly beautiful it is, the graphics, the sceneries, the sounds... There's no denying that this is a 10 in all technical categories. Now about the story, I saw the spoilers when they leaked the game, I heard all the bad stuff people said about the game when it came out, and because of that I had super low expectations about it, butI think even the people who hate this game agree on how absurdly beautiful it is, the graphics, the sceneries, the sounds... Now about the story, I saw the spoilers when they leaked the game, I heard all the bad stuff people said about the game when it came out, and because of that I had super low expectations about it, but I wanted to play it anyway, and damn, I'm so glad I did! People really don't know the difference between a great story that makes you upset and a bad story. No bad story can make you feel this many feelings, no bad story can cause such an impact on people, and what an impact this one left on me, I want to play it again but at the same time I don't, I loved the gameplay and the story (even if it wasn't what I wanted or expected), but I don't want to feel all those things again, this marked me, and that's something only great storytelling can do.
I'll never forget this game and how it made me feel.
(But really, even if you have problems with the game or just hates the story it's so stupid to give a game like this a zero, like come on, I know you want it to be a zero so bad, but you know it's not, stop lying to yourself)

Different story then I was expecting , sad but raw ( life is raw ... and it never goes how you want .... get used to it ) , not for kids who want happy endings and stereotyped characters. I liked the game! I think I would be more disappointed if this was only a "DLC" for the first one.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
