The game is made to tell an history it isn't a game of some heroes that kill the bad guys, is a complex history and characters, not a generic game like many others it would be easy to naughty dog just make some other game of adventures with joel and elliie, easy fan service, but they did not they mate a game that would mark people that give the game a chance I cried a lot in Joel death and hated it but after ending the game everything made sense this is a game for real gamers not someone that just plays to kill some bad guys… Expand

    I enjoyed the game but to each his own. A lot of people hating because the game isn’t how they wanted it to be. Was a cool experience for me.

    This game is absolutely amazing. Naughty Dog really knows how to write a griping story. Even a character I hated at the beginning I ended up rooting for in the end. The review bombing it's getting is entirely undeserved. Those who are review bombing the game are doing so for one reason an hour in and are crying like little babies.     There is some heartbreaking moments, some scary as hell, and many beautiful scenes. Some of the better graphics I've seen in a game so far. S

    this story is for patient. the ones who are willing to give it a chance, open their eyes and pay attention. and once they do they will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful, thrilling, cinematic experiences ever made. even if it's not perfect the highs definitely outweigh the lows. a true must have.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite what many “fans” of The Last of Us have been posting. It is plainly obvious that the majority of the negative reviews from gamers have been due to either, 1.) Homophobic ideals or 2.) They haven’t played the full game yet or just decided to hop on the band wagon for negativity. The story is amazing, yea it has a few minor flaws in it, but the response to it has been pointless and illogical. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the gameplay is nearly perfect. I have finished the game in its entirety 2 times as of writing this. No, I am not lying about that. I can just say that it is a very well crafted game that is deserving of the title and is a perfect follow up to the first game. Joel may have been killed very early on in the game, but, he also was well aware that after killing all of those Fireflies, people would try and kill him. He was clearly calm in his last few moments of life because he knew it was going to happen sooner or later. People are whining about how Ellie had no problem with killing all of the other people who were in Abby’s group but not Abby. She never intended to kill them, they attempted to fight back while being interrogated and Ellie defended herself. When Ellie finally confronted Abby in the end of the game, she came to the realization that Abby was in many ways just like her. I get that Joel died and I was pissed off about it, but as the game progressed I began to realize that Abby didn’t deserve to die and neither did any of her friends. So before anyone tries to write a negative review for this game, I highly reccomend you read this post in its entirety and for many people, I reccomend you actually play the game or at least finish playing it before you decide to trash talk it. I am glad I was smart enough that I didn’t get anything spoiled for me because unlike many people I chose to steer clear of any third-party info on The Last of Us Part II because I wanted to experience everything myself for the first time. So either, play this game or don’t buy it and stop posting unknowledgable reviews on a game that you have never even played. These developers worked hard to make this game and their work shows. The game is worth every penny in my opinion and I felt like it was nessicarry to post this review because I at least know what is going on and I have also played the game twice and have a better understanding of the story. I hate seeing the negativity towards great games like this because it is unwarranted and honestly it damages people’s reputation. So if you have been wanting to play this game and/or you aren’t sure if you should buy it or not, I can say that from my experience, it is worth the money. I can’t force anyone into buying it but I can let people know that I have enough time played on this game to make a fair review for this fantastic game. *Again* don’t look at every negative review and believe it, because, more often than not, the person reviewing the game has either not finished it or doesn’t even own the game to begin with.… Expand

    I stayed away from all the spoilers and had the opportunity to play this game the way Naughty Dog intended. This game first appears to be like any other cookie-cutter vengeance/revenge story, but it slowly morphs into a compelling narrative with deeper themes. In fact, the game analyzes the very nature of vengeance, itself, and examines what this type of mentality can do to those who seek it out. If you are looking for a cheap revenge story, look elsewhere. This game is going to be over your head and you won't leave with any sense of satisfaction as a result.

    Many people misunderstand the final fight with Abby and assume that Ellie forgives her. Honestly, the final fight (to me) has nothing to do with Abby. It is all about Ellie and how she is unable to let go of her own guilt and the things holding her still. Throughout the story, Ellie keeps tapping into a darkness inside of her (this is very evident in scenes like when she beats Nora for information). She is seeking vengeance at that point in the game, and much like Abby she is laser-focused on achieving that goal. It is not easy to play a character you love go through that.

    Playing as Abby in the second half of the game is not an attempt to make people care about her (in my opinion). Rather, it is meant to show what being obsessed with vengeance does to a person. And like it or not, if you were on board with killing Abby then you are kind of on board with killing Joel, too. It's the same type of vengeance, forcing a player to actually ask whether it matters who is right or wrong.

    In the end, I cared about Ellie. I didn't want her to seek vengeance because I watched what it did to Abby... Abby gives up a chance at a happy life with Owen and dedicates her life to finding her father's killer.

    In the same way, Ellie gives up her happy life with Dina. Why? Vengeance. The result? She loses everything she has... just like Abby. With that done, Ellie can find something to live for. So she leaves her last behind and she seems just that. Brilliant game!

    Ellie has to decide to let go. Her final memory with Joel is about trying to forgive him, a desire to start anew. Ellie wanted to work toward forgiving Joel for what he did at the end of the first game (robbing her death of purpose). In the sequel's final fight, Ellie doesn't have to forgive Abby. Abby is a ghost to her, a nothing... a shell of what she once hated. Maybe even a reflection of what she has become. And thinking of Joel saves her in the end. So how does Joel's death serve no purpose? It sounds like it has a profound purpose to me. Ellie has to make the conscious decision to let go---to release the nightmares that prevented her from moving on. She does that, in the end. She is a stronger character because of it. If she didn't make that choice, she would keep seeking out her demons, ignoring Joel's advice at the end of the first game to find things worth living for. Ellie's entire life has been spent living up to what other people chose for her. The fireflies wanted her to be a sacrifice to save humanity, so she trekked out to find them. Joel wanted her to be a second daughter, so she stayed with him. Dina wanted her to be a farm wife. Tommy wanted her to be a tool for vengeance. In this game, Ellie deals with all of those influences. Everything she touches goes sour. So she chooses to let go. In the end, she can start being her. She gets to choose that destiny. Explain how that isn't a fantastic ending?

    Finally, to address the topic of "Joel would never trust a stranger or let his guard down around one" and other such criticisms I keep hearing: At the end of the first game, Joel changes. Don't know if you all caught onto that or not, but he starts opening up about Sarah, starts making plans with Ellie and genuinely wants to put his past behind him. The idea that four years living in civilization and raising another daughter would have no effect on him or change his outlook is absurd. Ellie changed him in the first game. Why wouldn't she continue to have that effect for FOUR more years?

    Maybe, just maybe, try to approach the game with a reasoned open mind. You might enjoy what you find there. Then again, a lot of people were unwilling to give this game a fair shake from the start.

    Obviously, there are people who play the game and hate it. Not trying to say this game is perfect. It isn't. It's perfectly fine that not everyone enjoyed the game. But when a game gets THIS much criticism and is actually put together extremely well, one does have to wonder if maybe this title is just too ahead of its time and simply wasted on this generation? Sadly, I cannot dive into the criticisms of the game that I do have because of the nonsensical review bombing. So I will finish the review here. None of it's flaws detract from a beautifully crafted narrative.    … Expand

I’m a big fan of TLOU and I enjoyed playing this game Maybe Joel dies in a way no one liked and the ending is frustrating but u have to look at the game in a realistic way I mean even in our simple lives these kind of **** things happen and many people don’t get what they deserve And also u have to realize that this game is a “dark” game. A lot of people went into this game wanting something that it would never be. This game isn't perfect but it is a damn fine game. Everything is here from the story to the characters to the environment. Its presentation of all that was the only thing that really let it down. The pacing got pretty messy especially around the middle of the game. But everything here was explored and presented. I think it is a very good game it has too many new features like the new combat system now you can dodge blows you can throw yourself to the ground and also the new objects that you can build, the story seemed to me one of the best I have seen the only thing that I I leave sad was the end because ellie does nothing of his revenge and loses his girlfriend but he has his happy side because in the end ellie forgives joel for lying, has abby for killing joel and dina for leaving and leaves everything behind and continues with his life… Expand

I dont think the is SOOO MUCH LGBT propaganda as people are saying, also the ending coud be worst. And second attempt shows the scenario is pretty smart. The most annoying aspect of gameplay was dumb NPC walking into youre position, little bugs especially in second part, maybye skill advancement tree coul'd be better .
    After that we've got sweetest possible graphics, abandoned buildings are new main character for me. Cool melee violence, finishers, most realistic blood pools ever ;) Couple of amazing sequences, few minibosses and one resident evil like big one which remains in memory. More open areas slots well onto fresher combat aproach. Loading times and technical part of the game also deserves an aplause. Overall gameplay is immersive.
    Soon i'll start NG+ with moore stealth aproach, im curious, does boredom of walking/talking parts will push me off...
    First game was special... this one is just a good game ;)

Great Graphics Great Gameplay and perfect artificial intelligence but a story that makes Elie cry could have been incredible but a scenario aimed at hitting us directly from our heart, but there is something going wrong, the author wanted to change something, I can see it, but this did not sit on TLOUP2. If we killed Abby, all of the players would be smiling and revenge would be taken, but my conclusion is be ready for Part 3… Expand

    People are going into this game expecting it to be like TLOU, instead of it being a continuation of it. The story of the first game was great, and this sequel compliments that story and answers many questions left by the first game, whilst asking more too.

    Druckmann said it himself, the first game was about love, this game is about hate.     Druckmann said it himself, the first game was about love, this game is about hate. In the world that was established in TLOU, we learn that anything can happen. We took many lives without question, lives that had so much story behind them, and complicated people with relationships.

    I don't know about you, but I get reminded of that in this game whenever I killed a Rattler, Seraphite or a Wolf. The companions of my kill would cry out their name, and I'd feel bad. Having the same thing happen to our main characters is a bold move, but makes sense in the world of The Last of Us. Plot Armour doesn't exist in this game, and I love that.

    We knew Ellie was going to be the playable protagonist of this game. Joel's death being the reason that Ellie embarks on a bloodthirsty mission for revenge, works so well as we know of their relationship and we get sucked into the tone of the game early on. As opposed to spending hours getting to know a new character Ellie is close to, then having them killed off to ignite Ellie. That just wouldn't make sense, and seem forced.

    Abby. At the start of the game, I hated her. At the end of the game, I didn't know who to root for. Part of me didn't want to support either character, but part of me didn't want either of them to die in the final showdown. Ellie and Abby have such a great parallel, they're very similar, but Abby is a bit more compassionate than Ellie.

    Abby spared Ellie's life twice, even after she murdered all of her friends. Sure, Abby has done some **** up things, but so has Ellie, and so did Joel. In the end, Ellie had to fight with herself to let Abby live, the same decision that Abby quickly made for Ellie's life when Lev intervened.

    Ellie learnt from Abby, I hope what helped Ellie realise that taking Abby's life wouldn't make her feel any better, was the flashback of her approaching Joel. We know after that scene, is where Ellie agrees to start trying to forgive Joel for what he did at the hospital. I believe sparing Abby is her first step to forgiveness. That is HUGE character development for Ellie. She didn't want to kill Abby in front of Lev, as that would just start the cycle again and parallel Joel getting killed in front of Ellie. 18 months had passed of Lev being with Abby, I guarantee they grew really close and Lev would hunt down Ellie if Abby had been killed by her.

    Ellie abandoning her life in the woods with Dina and J.J. to seek revenge one last time, to only grant mercy and forgiveness to Abby, things start to look up for Ellie's future.

    Next scene, she's lost 2 fingers that Abby bit. As a guitarist my immediate thought was **** those are her guitar fretting fingers.".

    Walking into the house we find it empty, I put off going into Ellie's room as I was hoping it would be empty too, that Dina took Ellie's stuff and is waiting for her back in Jackson. My heart sank when her room was full of her belongings and untouched, the guitar sitting there.

    I knew she wouldn't be able to play it, but I tried so damn hard to play the song that I knew she was going to play, the one Joel wrote for her. To Ellie, her guitar playing is the last thing that relates her to Joel, and that was stripped from the same person that took Ellie's life, but Ellie isn't angry any more. Even though she has lost everything, I think she realises it's because of her own choice and actions, that she's here now, and she accepts it. Monumental character arc, I cried.

    I saw someone rate this game 1/10 because the "girls are ugly." god, some world we live in. People complaining that a game is too political because it's a diverse game that deals with and represents people that exist in REAL LIFE. YES PEOPLE, THIS **** HAPPENS IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD. GAY PEOPLE, TRANSGENDER PEOPLE, YES THEY EXIST. The apocalypse doesn't stop that **** Please remove yourself from the gene pool if that's what makes you hate this game. Abby is ****in' built like a tank, and I wouldn't **** with her lol. If you're intimidated by a muscular woman, you have no dick.

    Story of this game? ****ing brilliant.

    World building and expanding from the first game : Outstanding.

    Character Development? Phenomenal.

    Gameplay and visuals? Did you play it? You already ****ing know it's all fantastic.

    This game? 10/10, nail on the ****ing head. Now I'm off to platinum it and eagerly await the DLC.    … Expand

I respect them because this game can break your heart but on the other side if you see it from a specific point of view it becomes one of your best game ever played.     No te dejes llevar por las mil críticas negativas cuando recién salía el juego, aún no lo tenían en sus manos pero ya criticaban mil y una cosa, este juego hay que vivirlo y valorarlo tu mismo. Pará es maravilloso.

    With a story based upon vengeance and the price that comes with it, TLOU2 is not for those who are looking to have an experience that circles around Joel and Ellie' s relationship (We have the first game for that).     I love this game. The graphics, the physics, the story all of them ... wonderfull. I finish about 27 hours, now i enjoy what is see in my soul and some days later i restart the game in new game+ mode.
    I think that more better then my favourite game, the first episode. Evry thing better in this game than the part one.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Last of us Part 2 is definitely different game in terms of its story telling than we have been seeing in this medium. It starts with one of the most divisive choice which is killing an iconic character in a **** way imaginable. I was angry and frustrated with the game at that point with this decision. Nevertheless I continued to play game and character are just dying all around you and it got me more angry with this decision. Then i played another side with so much hate that i was constantly killing her intentionally to quench my thirst of anger. I continued on and same happens here characters are just dying. Then something clicked, its not the **** deaths that is happening, its the **** world that characters are living in. Every character either loving or hateful are living in this world where most of the humans know only one emotion, HATE. But there are moments in the game that tells us Love exists in this world. Now the most important part, Naughty Dog showed one thing if someone dies you love, you want revenge no matter the cost. And that's where ending sucked for everyone. It went from 6 or 7 to 0 for most people for the ending because they didn't get what they wanted for 25 hours.
    And I would like to congratulate ND for showing what hate means in real world. They showed us that people want revenge no matter the cost. I watched a lot of streams, every people was hating ABBY so much in first minute as we play her. They were no ready to see what she is. That blind hate killed everything for everyone. They just want to kill Abby no matter if she also lost her dad, friends, lover. At the end when she spared Dina, Ellie and don't want to fight because she has only one thing worth living, Lev. Joel killed Abby's dad and Ellie killed everyone Abby cared for. Now if we can forgive or try to forgive what Joel did, why cant Ellie do the same for Abby.
    This game is all about story telling like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter which is made more interactive by adding outstanding visuals, audio, animation, game play and acting.
    Don't get me wrong game has pacing issues because its longer and semi open world environment. Sometimes, it drags out a little bit. But at the end, if your anger for killing Joel has not died this was not for you.
    If you want me to rate the game on game parts, they are as follows
    1) Story: Pacing issues but liking or hating the overall story depends on your thinking about the term HATE.
    2) Visuals/Audio- Best Visuals on PS4 including animation and very solid sound and audio designs.
    3) Acting: Best Actors on game industry are in this game, Troy Baker, Ashley and Laura Bailey. There are no weakness on the acting aspects of the game.
    4) Characters: All of them are interesting and I would say at least try to give them a chance without hate.
    Last but not least, The Last of Us part 2 is my masterpiece in gaming. I welcome all the hate from other users and other users that going to hate them, because you know what it will continue and this is the **** world i live in.

    I've seen examples of bots being used in the positive reviews. There were reviews that were the exact same in there to a T. I haven't played the game so I can't comment on the story although I hear it's a mess. Either way take this as a heads up that things might be a bit shady. If you enjoy stealth games and the Last of Us, there is no reason that you cannot enjoy the Last of Us 2 full stop unless you are ostensibly a sexist pile of trash. I feel very strongly about this being a male who honestly does not give a **** which gender a character is as long as their story is intriguing.

    This is an incredible game with gorgeous graphics, masterful voice acting and motion capture performances and challenging game play. We finally get a worthwhile single player game, just for edge-lord politicians to come out in droves to complain about it.

The story, whilst divisive, painful and agonising, is incredible. Sure, some of us might have done some things differently, but on the whole it is excellent. If you are a fan of the first game you really need to play this, its a masterpiece.

I felt that the second ran with those ideas even more so. I really liked the game, i hated it at first because of what they did story wise, it was just so quick and at first i thought to myself "How can Joel be so careless" But after finishing the game i get it, he lived in Jackson for 5 years, he's getting older and is softening up a bit, still feels guilty to Ellie for what he did in the first game. Joel took Ellie her goal/purpose in life away from her, she was supposed to die in that hospital for a possible vaccine and she was okay with it. I have trouble with writing out how i feel precisely about the game, but i really liked it, the story it told & the general message about the cycle of revenge and vengeance was super. I hated playing as Abby on day 1 but through the cutscenes and discovering her dad was killed by Joel, her interactions with her group of friends and Yara and Lev made me really like her. The graphics, level design, music are also super. seriously impressive. I liked the improved combat system with the dodging mechanic and being able to squeeze through small spaces. The upgrade animations were also super cool and i enjoyed watching those. For me this game was for sure a worthy sequel and a 10/10. It's sad to see the hate online and the review bombing on here (i feel like 70% off those havent even played the game or even own a PS4 to begin with)

    I remember Neil saying the game would divide the fanbase, and it sure did. I really enjoyed it though and i'd like to thank everyone at Naughty Dog for making the game.     This game has a wonderful plot. It shows very well that in a post apocalyptic world there are no good people and revenge is senseless. But to understand this you need to have an open mind and go through the whole game to the end because then you will understand it well. A magnificent technical quality that brings to life a well-written story about the price of revenge.

    Narrative - The change to a serious theme was very welcome, something I usually miss a little in ND games. This time characters choices made a massive impact on the story.

    Gameplay - TLoU 1 but better, main additions is that now you can prone (discovered how it it actually was mid game), and you can dodge now, making melee combat ok.

    Difficult Design - this game has a lot of customization on different aspects of gameplay, resources to find, enemies awareness, limit on actions you can make (some stealth kills are not allowed on higher difficulties), how much allies will help you in combat.

    Accessibility - A lot of options on in game feedback, from itens radar to magnifying parts of the screen, ultra contrast for enemies, sound feedback. Some come really in hand.

    Subtitles - you can have subtitles yellow.

    Trophies - as a casual player this is very welcome, but can understand some people getting upset, there are no more trophies for completing the game on each difficulty, you get only one for completing the game, and now there are less stupid ones, like finding every audio interaction with npcs (thank god).

    I played almost twenty five hours for the first play through (for a linear game.... oh boy), the game seems to never and, and trying to play in one go can and probably will make you sick, so I recommend playing a In game day or so per real day (just an personal recommendation), as it will also help in getting that intense story more spaced.

    Final Thoughts - With this kind of direction I would play even if the main character was a schizophrenic clown, that in reality was a dead cat's nightmare

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
