The only reason its not a 0 is because of the graphics and improvements of crafting and shooting. The forced play of someone that's killed a beloved character. Ungodly sex secne with what the developers are claiming is a woman, lack of closure to the story and forced caring on a character you don't care for.

Only redeeming quality of this game was that the gameplay stayed the same as the first game, which should have been improved on considering the 7 year development gap. It's obvious that the studio left as it reflects in the writing and character development. Good job in destroying a world gamers loved, I'll be doing my best to pretend this game never came out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a good job for its Graphics, soundtrack and AI although there are not many changes from the previous version. The story is horrible, it is an endless cycle of "edgy" violence just to make the player reflect but it doesn't really manage to cause any feelings, it is really boring to kill and kill without any objective. It has a very bad end. Expand

Not only did they kill off one of the best characters that made this game what is is. But to then force me to play as the chick that’s actually kills Joel for HALF THE GAME In a side story I could care less for is absurd. My excitement for the game slowly drained always as another chapter started in which I had to play Abby. It really is a shame. The ending was even worse Expand

While this game isn't a 0 out of 10, it certainly isn't a 10 out of 10. The Graphics and gameplay are decent, but the storytelling is absolutely horrendous. That's just my opinion though, I would advise you do your own research to decide whether or not to purchase this game or to invest in something that will be more value for your money.

Filled with Agenda politics, Gameplay hasn’t evolved or changed at all, completey boring story with flashbacks that make you wish you were playing the first game. The only reason I give it a two is for the visuals and art design which is stellar, the exception to that being the character models who all look awful with meme worthy facial expressions.

While the graphics and attention to detail are incredible, the gameplay feels outdated as the improvements and innovations are minimal and the whole experience becomes tedious, especially in the final hours. Most important of all however, the story is simply uninspired and does not deliver as beloved characters are reduced to nothing, and the newly introduced characters are not fleshed out or developed in any way. Characters make extremely dumb decisions just to further the desired narrative and this completely takes you out of the experience. The shoehorned political narratives also do not help the game's likability in the slightest. It is also worth mentioning that some scenes in the trailers are very misleading which can only be seen as taking advantage of people's faith in ND. What was marketed to people and the final product are extremely different. An incredibly nonsensical and dissatisfying ending really is the cherry on top and as such the game leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. Yes, the original was violent with some sad moments. But it felt real with genuine characters who I cared about. They did some awful things but just like Bugs Bunny, it was more of a reaction to an awful situation rather than initiating it.

This game got awfully repetitive. Years ago, I read the IMDB trivia where Neil Druckman stated, "While the first game was about love, this game will be about hate." I wondered what that meant. Now that I have experienced it, I realized this isn't something I want to experience anymore.

On a positive note, they did a great job with being more inclusive to LGBT and racially diverse characters. But they deserved better than this.

Review bombing with 1’s will only aggravate the position the developer is taking however. Speak with your wallets and don’t buy any more games where the politics of the creators have priority over the content they promised to deliver.

This game is the ultimate example of politics over substance, and that’s a shame really. Not recommended, just play part 1 again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I Have Issues With this Game. Before I go off with my review, know that their will be SPOILERS. The Last of Us Part 2 is a game that I will never touch or feel again. I don't have anything to do with this installment for this series. It's nothing to do with the fact naughty dog is reason. It's to do with the Storyline and Characters development for this game. Nothing makes sense within 3 hours of the game. It felt like Joel was never in the game, Prior to the fact that he dies when the game wasn't even pass the first chapter. I don't know why it was done like that but it felt like they let a child wrote the outline for this game. The reason why I'm giving an 2 is because of the main 5 Issues. 1. Story 2. Characters development
    3. Writing
    4. ABBY 5. The Ending that was never Needed. The story was Boring and a headache, Joel and Ellie was done with no respect. The writing is poor (Not the dialogue, but the StoryBoard Lineup). ABBY is the most hatred character that I've ever scene in a fiction story. The ending was weak. Playing Abby was the most stressful thing I have done within the 7 hours of playing this game, I kept saying to myself. When will I be able to play as Ellie again. I started play as Abby at 12 A.M and Ended her at 7 A.M, thats 7 hours their my friends. i don't want to blame Laura Bailey because she's phenomenal at voice acting but the character who she played is a enemy of the Century for me. The Last of Us (2013) will always be my favorite games of all time, but this game needs to be remake or let someone else take control of this series. This 2 is all what I can get. R.I.P Joel Miller , A True Father to Ellie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, today I finished the THE LAST OF US PART II. My anger and disappointment knew no bounds. PLOT!!! No, of course I understand that we need a strong motivational tie, but to kill Joel at the beginning of the game is simply disastrous. And now after his murder we set off to avenge! The plot is based on this.
We kill almost everyone who killed Joel, and contrary to the majority, I watched with pleasure how Ellie kills them all one by one (besides this, I calmly reacted to the fact that Mel was killed and she didn’t care that she was pregnant). But something happens and at the end of the game we leave Abby alive without killing ourselves. Frankly, I felt anger and DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!! I don't care that Abby suddenly has a boy / girl whom she decided to take care of! Eye for Eye Tooth for Tooth! I would gladly drown her there, for Joel and Jesse without regret.
What is **** ?? Forgiveness? Good? To hell! I do not believe in it! You go, so go to the end !!!
Further, the characters are well developed, however, Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW!
Are you guys serious ?! Homosexual relationships are disgusting and not acceptable! Women belong to men, and men belong to women, period! And call me what you want! Each girl is my potential wife, until it is proved that she has a boyfriend / husband. Yes, I am selfish and you girls my happiness will not give you a lesbian evil!
Our second main character is Abby. Seriously? I was not saturated with her special emotions. She killed Joel let out of revenge but killed and I wanted her to die the whole game !! And the fact that she saved some kind of seraphite does not change anything. But really, thanks for being at least heterosexual.
The gameplay has changed little from the first part; it is pretty not bad but outdated. the character’s modifications and improvements are made in such a way that you don’t pump everything in one pass, I personally didn’t really like it. It would be better if for the second passage I would quickly open all of them.

Beautiful graphics and amazing performances fall short of the abysmal writing, characters and plot holes. The attempts to pleaee SJW and Druckmanns self insert in the game are laughable. Easy to see a lot of effort went into this but no argument can defend this story, ultimately it is a massive disapointment if compared to its predecessor...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For a game that's longer than half a decade in anticipation, it tries to shoot a lot of shots the previous game didn't and fails at all of them. That said, there is a handful of great moments but they are few and far in between, certainly not enough to justify a big 60$ game from a big AAA dev. In fact, a lot of these moments are almost exclusively the flashback sequences, which try to break apart the development of Joel's and Ellie's relationship and it's consequent collapse following the end of the first game and the events leading up to this one. The first hour seems quite promising, but the second and third hours of gameplay break that quality apart faster than Outbreak Day did Last of Us America.

A story driven game uses the concept of amazing storytelling to make up what it doesn't have or otherwise lacks in gameplay. The thing is; they forgot to make the storytelling actually good.

It is clear Naughty Dog tried to make the underlying theme about how revenge doesn't pay off, but almost nothing about the way the characters act makes you want to do nothing else but drive a bullet into their heads one at a time.

The devs have made the characters jump to illogical choices on a dime, often for what seems no other reason than to work into the game for the sake of convenience in telling the story.

Joel in the first game was made up to be the type of guy who'd quite literally die before trusting himself to a complete stranger, and within the first two hours of the game not only does he trust himself to a stranger, but he trusts an entire group of strangers with both his and his brothers name, not even 2 minutes into being in the same room as them.

Other illogical choices include a handful of rather shallow pieces of romance dialogue that spontaneously spawn make out scenes which sometimes evolve into full blown sex. I'm aware that the game is rated M for mature, but dear God do they not happen at the most awkward times, featuring the most awkward random dialogue and at moments so convenient the developers might as well have written them off as some sort of low effort fanfiction. They feel way out of place; it'd be on par with God of War 4 starting off on a sex scene that depicts Kratos making Atreus because he becomes high on weed and refers to Atreus' mother as "cute". That's literally the kind of "romance" that happens in this game.

But the most illogical choice of them all comes from the devs themselves: Ellie embarks on a crusade lasting multiple weeks, going through the entire combined militia force of the very same group that not only tortured and killed Joel in front of her own eyes, but openly mocked his death in front of her once she goes on to pursue them all for the injustice done on Joel. She is ready to kill, torture and push through an insanely well manned and well armed force to get to Joel's murderer, and what does she decide to do? Spare his killer at the very end. In fact, Abby kills a lot more people close to Ellie than just Joel. Still, she let's her live.

Granted Ellie butchers her way through everyone Abby (Joel's killer... no, Joel's *murderer*) knows, but whereas Abby seeks a personal vendetta against Joel and Joel alone, her friends do not shy away from showing murderous intent upon Ellie, and in extent her whole group against absolutely anyone outside it. Abby's group, the WLF, are extremely isolationist and would shoot anyone on sight, whether or not they're surrendering and whether or not they mean no harm at all.

The game is split into levels where you play as Ellie and parts where you play as Abby, but where Ellie's levels involve going from one place to another in search of Abby to enact revenge upon, the entirety of Abby's levels focus on the victimization of herself and all her friends for the actions that Joel did in the past and those that Ellie does, as if they're both some sort of monsters who have killed with no regard for the value of life.

Yeah, obviously making a group of people who kill on sight appear more human doesn't work well.

The Abby levels are suppose to make you feel more bad for them, but in reality no amount of backstory and no amount of sob stories is going to make you /not/ want to kill them. That would make the hunt for Abby that Ellie spends months on worthless right? They're cold blooded killers and nothing can put them in a positive light.

Well Ellie disagrees. As I've stated before, Ellie pretty much let's Abby go because killing is bad, and you shouldn't kill, not even if that person quite literally killed your friends, your loved ones and the closest thing you've had to a father figure right? Going back to the God of War comparison again, imagine if after climbing to the top of Mount Olympus and killing everyone, Kratos just came to Zeus and said "Okay let's be friends now". That is exactly what happens in this game.

The game has nothing going for it but graphics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Start with the fact that this is my personal opinion and I do not impose it on anyone, it is not authoritative and no one is obliged to comply with it!
My first impression is wow ... the graphics are great ... A walk in the city, the graphics are great, the atmosphere is like a Swiss resort, Gustavo Santoalala plays the banjo.
I continue with Ellie! She can barely get out of bed. I close my eyes ... it's a coincidence, isn't it. New character, Conan or Abby, whatever you choose. She's looking for something or someone anyway! I see the new mechanics, I'm very happy. It begins ... clickers, runners and all sorts of others surround her ... and, Oh you see the prince with a pure heart comes. Philanthropist Joel saves her.
Yes. And the naive, foolish good-natured Joel enters and staying with a group of strangers armed to the teeth. I do not accept it, absolute nonsense and nonsense. It was shocking.

I go for fresh air….after this crap I think I'm done with this game... continue

A few new things ... the weapon upgrades are great. New stealth challenges that I approve of. And yet ... the feeling does not leave me, it is always with me and the hope to get a positive feeling begins to diminish. I'm moving through Seattle, but somehow without a purpose ... to chase the bad guys yes, but there's something that's not right. It doesn't grab you, you kind of play heartlessly. There is a slight shift in the center of the story here ... it's not a little it's huge, but everyone will see and judge it.
We look at Conan's life ... as if I'm interested. I turned off the game and couldn't stand it.
I grit my teeth and move on. Good! There are other skills, etc ... but it's not Ellie or Joel, if Conan was Gandhi, it's still disgusts me.
Yes! There are brutally beautiful views that I can not deny. I can't deny that I'm even interested ... but I'm waiting for my revenge ... and I'm waiting ... I'm waiting for half a game.
Conan decided to save two kids ... not bad, but you're not human, how come you suddenly decided to be Mother Teresa. And the game went to another world, another storyline, another feeling. Conan I won't like you it's 100% sure!
I keep waiting for the collision, the meeting ... this is my catharsis. And here he comes !!!!
The antagonist destroys the protagonist ... what what ... well, Ellie was beaten by Conan ... you, as a player, erase her, crush her ... destroy her personality. What we were talking about here , what is this sick brain that invented it that bull.
All right ... Druckman, why you do that man?! . Well, everyone bears the consequences of their actions ... but this is not a philosophical debate, but the destruction of built characters. Heroes we all love, not associate with. This is a game after all! You destroyed them.I will never forgive you for this.

From Joel dying in the very of the beginning of the game in a way contrary to the way we all know he acts, to Ellie going on a long revenge hunt to not even get revenge and leaving the game feeling empty and full of holes. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Visually The Last Of Us Part II is simply stunning; I cannot deny it is one of the best looking games to my knowledge. Sadly the game is let down by some truly dreadful storytelling. The characters are flat, po-faced and have no discernible qualities. Both Ellie and Dina blur into each other like they're the same character. The gameplay is pretty fantastic when the player is given the freedom to roam and explore the world, but the majority of the game is watching cutscene after cutscene, or forced to walk slowly through a setting in a bid to mask loading times, not to mention the tedious mini-games, like playing fetch with a dog. As someone who often skips boring story in games, I was penealised by having to watch an equally dull and painfully long loading screen. The total playtime of this game is around 20 hours; less than 8 of that was actual gameplay, and I wasn't dawdling either.

While the gameplay was decent, I had to find ways to make it more entertaining, such as changing the intended difficulty from Moderate to Hard, I refused to use Listen Mode, and I avoided upgrading weapons or any of my skill tree. I consider myself to be a gamer with average skill. I should commend Naughty Dog for making this game accessible, but I firmly believe that there needs to be challenge and reward, fine-tuned by the developers. It shouldn't really be up to me to set my own challenge, especially when the intended setting is way too easy.

The worst thing about this game is not having a central protagonist. Halfway through the game we're expected to play as the antagonist, where it is expected that we sympathise with their position. In two instances you play as each character where you are forced to beat the living daylights out of the other. The violence between both characters by the end feels somewhat comical, like something out of a comedy sketch show, combined with the brutality of the French torture horror film Martyrs. With no clear hero or villain in this game, I was left feeling completely cold for every character in it. The original game was criticised for forcing the player to have Joel kill innocent doctors in a bid to save Ellie, but in that instance it felt arguably justified. Here, Naughty Dog obligate the player to simply help the story along with no control over the outcome, and expect the player to side with both characters. I believe this to be a near impossible task. Pressing buttons to repeatedly beat the character you spent an entire game trying to protect is why this game ultimately fails.

Finally I should add; I applaud any developer for having two gay leading characters, as well as a character who is identified as trans, but not when the story is at best mediocre, and at worst completely and utterly infuriating.

Videogames as a medium are still in its infancy, but the way they tell interactive stories is unique to any other established medium. When gaming tries to be a TV show or a film, as shown in The Last of Us Part II, it ultimately fails at what its best at. For truly unique and original storytelling in gaming, look to games such as Dark Souls or Journey. Much like David Cage's games, Naughty Dog seem like a developer who are almost embarrassed to be considered a videogaming company. Even if this were a TV show or a film which it clearly wants to be, it wouldn't be a very good one either. What a failure of a game, and I'm disappointed that I paid full price to learn this.

It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isn't even the biggest thing about why its bad. The reason is: character development. How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does what she did. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10 minutes. That's it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she did what she did? Hell no! That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning. This game is the epitome of the notion that "graphics do not make a good game".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finished the whole game. Narrative and storytelling wise this game is atrocious. The scene cuts and flashbacks have no order and only hurts the player experience and adds confusion which is never resolved. If you enjoyed the first last of us game then be warned, the devs really made it their mission in this game to tear down everything we loved and enjoyed from the predecessor in hopes to "subvert expectations" but it backfired and is arguably worse Game of Thrones' 8th season. The narrative choices feel forced in a bad way, extremely edgy, genuinely confusing, and downright nonsensical at times. The major problem I have with this game is that the plot lines go nowhere and it doesn't even leave you on an ominous note. It feels as if you played and finished the game for nothing, since nothing is actually achieved. Gameplay wise, there's no standout generational improvements from the ps3 era and enemy mob entities are reused multiple times throughout the game; it feels like you're fighting the same 10 zombies and humans. The enemy AI is also terrible, you'll have no trouble getting through the game's most difficult areas which there are very few of since the enemies are unable to detect you behind the smallest of covers. Only positive I could think of is the voice acting and even that gets tiring since the majority of this game is just cutscenes and dialogue while walking from one point to another without any significant gameplay events occuring. 1/10 because they ruined such a loved franchise. - Incredibly repetitive and boring gameplay
    - Story is superlative grim and violence for grim and violence sake. It's GOT season 8 all over again. Plot twist for shock value everywhere.
    - Characters are annoying and unlovable. Even the reappearance once are cheapen and make obnoxiously unbearable to players.
    - Graphics is quite nice and polished but limited by hardware and is nothing too revolutionary.
    - Sound design is a solid meh, gun sound and action sounds are not as good as other FPS.

Regarding the meta outside the game:
    - Lot and lot of developers masturbatory messages on social media just destroy whatever respect I have left for them.
    - 'Critics' review for this game is a joke, all super positive 10/10 which are likely paid for by Sony.

Joels Death is undeniably pathetic and rushed, he got killed by the dumbest way ever. A Golf Club, seriously? Joel, as a character we love, deserved much much better! After this I thought, alright, maybe it will get better, It got even worse. Abby was a character i didn't care about. Her Backstory is told in under 10 minutes or something and they expect us to like a character who killed Joel and with almost no backstory?NO!!!! THIS IS NOT HOW IT WORKS!!! Abby even gets better Gameplay than Ellie!! She gets all the best guns and more stuff than Ellie. We did not wait seven or more years to play AS F*CKING ABBY! We wanted Joel and Ellie back. Their Bond from the first Game was memorable and fantastic. In this game, it gets butchered in the first few hours AND in the worst way imaginable.
One thing I liked about Abby was the Gameplay. Towards the end I thought, alright fine, at least im going to kill Abby now. Guess what? THEY EVEN MANAGED TO RUIN ELLIE!!! Ellie lets Abby get away, And Abby's Abrupt Love Story with an Abrupt Sex Scene was a thing, I didn't care about. In Overall, the story is poorly written and if you liked the first game, you will hate this one because the memorable and fantastic Joel Ellie Bond gets butchered in this one.
But, This Game is absolutely beautiful, the Graphics are awesome. TLOU2 has simply the best Graphics I have ever seen. But Neil, the first Game did not get the Ratings because of the Graphics, it got the Ratings because of the fantastic Storytelling, ITS NOT ABOUT THE GRAPHICS!!!

I hate how they did to Joel and Ellie. They’re redemption of each other. But now? I don’t see anything between them like TLOU1 and Joel died for nothing. ND, good job. U guys destroy EVERYTHING!!! EVERYTHING!!!

Ok I created an account just to make this review. Ill keep it spoiler free since spoilers are everywhere. Did you like/love the story and the characters from TLOU 1? Ok then pretend this game never existed and move on, just keep your memories from the old game. Is the best thing you can do and it saves you 60 bucks.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Visually, the game is stunning, a true work of art. However, that’s where the compliments for the game start to die off. The death of one of the most loved characters Naughty Dog has produced was done in such a cheap way, pure disrespect to the players and to the character. You are also forced to spend 10 monotonous hours playing as the character who killed Joel, whilst ND try and make you feel emotion for her but instead, completely drag out the second half of the game and take away everything that people loved about the first game. Joel and Ellie’s relationship was what made the Last of Us a success, and this sequel completely shattered any possibility of it living up to its predecessor within the first 2 hours. Such a sad way to kill off a once treasured franchise. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics and Animations are great, But The Story, dialogue and Characters are sooo bad OMG. The Story is so bad and the writing doesn't make any sense. I tried giving this game a chance even after reading the leaks but the context actually made it worse. This game destroyed the characters we knew and they were doing stuff that doesn't match up with what we know about them and they made Ellie such a bad character and the game tries to force you to like characters that are so bleak and unlikable. THIS GAME DOESN'T EXIST FOR ME. Lazy writing and trying to surprise everyone with bad choices that doesn't make sense. And the ending makes it so much worse. You don't enjoy this game but you also don't learn anything from it and If it's about the cycle of violence then why is the main villain (who is a psychopath btw) is not punished for their violence but Ellie and Joel is?!
Absolute mess of a story and the pacing is awful.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very upset and sad to see one of my favorite games of all time ruined by such a poor story

The Last of us to me is a story driven game that thrives on good writing and unfortunately they could not continue this into the second game. Going into the game I was very impressed with the graphics and gameplay. It felt amazing and it was great to be back into the Joel and Ellie story. Killing off Joel was unfortunate to me and how he went out was bad writing, but it did not kill the game for me. Early on playing as Ellie I actually enjoyed the game and loved the brutal side of Ellie. It was once you took control of Abby the game went completely downhill. I remember the second the Ellie side ended and I saw myself controlling Abby I had to stop for a second because I could not believe I had to play as a character I hated so much. I personally did not enjoy playing as Abby one bit and her story was just something I was forcing myself through to see what happens with Ellie. To rub salt in the wound even more about Joels death then making us play as Abby to kill Ellie was probably one of my least favorite experiences I have ever had in any game. Every-time I was killed by Ellie as Abby i was excited and just wanted it to end. Finally towards the end of the game we got to be Ellie again hunting Abby down one last time. At this point the game already went sour, but I had hope there could be a little light left in it. Unfortunately I was completely wrong and they found a way to ruin the game even more by sparing Abby. Ellie being completely broken at the end was tough to experience and left me feeling upset and wishing I had never played the game.

    Story: 0/10
    Gameplay: 10/10
    Visuals: 10/10

Conclusion: As a Huge fan of the first game I was very disappointed and sad to see one of the best games I have ever played destroyed by such a terrible story. What made the first game so memorable to me was the story and getting so invested into Ellie and Joel only to have it ripped away from me in Part two

This game is more than a let down, its destructive to all the good the last game accomplished with respect to Gaming and Narrative. It breaks my heart to write this, as I loved the last game so much, but this game is beyond garbage, it trades on the good memories we have of the brilliance of last game and then engages in the most lazy and poor storytelling possible.

Forget, for a moment, the shoehorning of various political issues - that is just a symptom of the lazy storytelling, non-existent character development, and all-around lack of attention to anything resembling a narrative in this game. Do yourself a favor. Don't Buy This. It will ruin the previous game for you.

Story is garbage, Character development is non-existent, Motivations are simpler than in a bad children's book...and yes, there is a shoehorning of every conceivable hot-topic political issue into the game. I left that bit for last because I really don't want to be accused of that being my only reason for giving this game a poor review.

    Some Positives:
Gameplay mechanics are great, but really nothing more than a small improvement on the previous game.

The world is more open and the story doesn't keep you on rails as much as the last one, but because the story is such a thin broth, this is a blessing.

The map is much better and the levels of difficulty are more in-depth.
    The photo-mode is nice.

But that's about it. This game is the opposite of a continuation of something good. It is a negation of the last game. Don't play if you want to keep your memories of the franchise positive.

It seems the story honestly would be better off if they just left Joel and Ellie alone and has used different protagonists. As I was playing through the game I honestly didn’t care about any of the new characters which is due to the failed writing. Also, one would imagine that when creating a sequel you also attempt to push your gaming mechanics to a new level to raise the bar of gaming and create a fresh experience while maintaining what worked in your previous game. Instead, ND decided to just do a copy and paste of the first TLOU, which feels outdated and out of place in 2020. I honestly had to force myself to finish the game due to a lack of interest or engagement, so I at least would have an trophy to show for the 60 dollars I burned on this game. If you like disappointment, this is the game for you. The game is getting a 3 out of 10 only because of the graphics and sound tbh, the art (with the exception of the character models) and sound design teams deserve applaud, every other team should re-evaluate the work they do and ask themselves if what they’re doing will push the franchise in a positive direction or negative. I will not be buying any future naughty dog games or listening to critic reviews. I would honestly bet critics were threatened to leave good reviews after playing TLOU2. Expand

There is review bombing and review brigading going on, so my advice is to ignore all scores of 0 and 10. This game is not a 0 and is far, far, far from a 10, I would give it about a 2.

For the bombers: Be honest with your scores please, the game deserves at least a point or two for the graphics, music and sounds.

The controls are from what I heard not up to par as they are basically the same as the first Last of Us, with minor improvements (like a jump function) so average at best.

The story on the other hand, oh man....where do I even start. In short it is a complete and utter train wreck. A dumpster fire of epic proportions, anyone who wrote this trash and/or signed off on it or had influence on it needs sacking...sorry but it is true. I won't go too much into the story so people who don't want to be spoiled aren't, but I will say calling it a disappointment is a huge understatement. You took choice out of the player's hands and forced them down the rails of the story YOU wanted to tell and the story is total excrement. The game could have possibly been salvaged if you allowed players choices in how the game unfolded, made it possible to have multiple different endings based on choices the players made. If you were not going to do this then you needed to make sure the story was something that everyone would like. Deaths of main characters need to have meaning, showing mercy to others needs to have a logical reason behind it, violence needs to have reasons for it other than just for the shock value. Characters must remain true to their personalities/intelligence established in the previous game. In short you messed up the story on every conceivable level, and you should be called on it!

For people leaving the 10/10 ratings, you are either not being intellectually honest or you have not played the first game. Don't give this game a 10 just because....no game is perfect and sorry but this one doesn't come close! Also, no, I am not a bigot, before you make that assumption...I loved the first Life is Strange in which the protagonist who was either bisexual or lesbian. That game had a good story and great music in which there was 2 possible endings. For me, even though graphics/controls wise it is very dated now, was an infinitely better experience to play than this game was to even watch being played.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think Joel should have died. As much as I admire the character of Joel, I understand the decision to use his past against him in order to provide a motive for Ellie's revenge; just not the way he did. We as a fan base didn't deserve that, and Joel and Ellie did not deserve that as characters. I hated everyone in this game. They're all depressing. The world is grim. Joel's a cuck. His brother is the tough guy, who, btw, gets **** in this game. Joel forgets all his street cred. **** you Joel. He's nothing but a bully, no heart in this game. No depth. So uninteresting. The only GOOD part in the game, personally, was the flashback of Ellies birthday, around the same age that was from the first game. I'll admit it, I ****ing cried during that scene where she pretended to go to space. I felt so bad for Ellie. She's such a innocent character, she deserves so much more than what she ends up with. I hated her in this game. She grew up to resent the world she so desperately wanted to save. That birthday scene, it reminded me so much of the first game, so I thought, why if it is evident that the quality of the first game can be reflected, what the **** is this? I mean, you can't even kill Abby? What the ****s her name? Abbi? What the **** You kill all these people, waste all these lives, Jesse died for you Ellie, what? You can't just count a few seconds longer? **** whoever wrote this. You don't care about us. I don't care who Abby ****s, I don't care. I don't care.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
