Last of Us 2 is a beautiful and tragic game. It is a piece of art that is poorly executed and left me deeply dissatisfied by the end. I honestly do not want to play it again after I finished it. I honestly do not want to play it again after I finished it. If hating what happens in a game and making you feel terrible was truly the intention of this game, then Naughty Dog hit it out of the park. I do not have a problem with the decisions of the main plot points, they were bold choices and I do enjoy experiencing story driven games where the events are predetermined, where you are meant to experience the story in the way that the developers chose for you to experience it. That experience can be positive or negative, tragic, horrific or whatever as long as the game has an impact that is justified and leaves you satisfied. The experience of this game did not leave me satisfied. When you come to the conclusion of the game and you immediately know that you don’t want to go through this experience again it is a failed game that fails in the very thing it is supposed to be, a game. It fails at being a game that costs as much as it does because you will never get the value that you paid out of this game. This experience did not justify its existence for me. Too harsh? I finished the game three days ago.. if you haven’t played it yet.. go for it and then you decide. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Graffic is grate, physics is grate but some twists are horrible like situation with transgender, strange pregnancy etc. Guys, does people try to stay a live in appocaliptic world or they just think what gender they are and who should they sleep with? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay... here we go.

Summary: What is... even the story, the trailers and advertising clearly deceived so many of us that I'm actually baffled by the Gall of Naughty Dog.

    Characters:
Ellie: She is pretty brutal, I give her that. Her character arc climax is strangely at the very end of the story. When I saw it happen the first thing that I said in my head is "Oh now you realized this is all **** up." Then gives us a rather bitter end to the story of TLOU2. We get it, reality is **** But when you try to put realism over the story, it's less of a story and more of an in your face message. Which is the root of my issue with the whole story. Anyways, the best part of the game is Ellie's flashbacks with Joel.

Joel: Loved by fans... his plot is almost disgraceful on how they handled it. The teasers and trailers clearly show he is supposed to be alive, but instead, we get deception. Like I know advertisers protect their stories but THIS IS STRAIGHT UP DECEPTION. The cutscenes we see from Joel are flashbacks. The scene where he says "You'll think you're going to do this on your own?" It is actually from Jesse! I am actually pissed about this, I paid a crap ton of money for another adventure with Joel and Ellie. But I instead get crapped on because they had to subvert expectations. This is a videogame not an M. Night Shyamalan movie!

Dina: She is... kinda plain actually. The only memorable part with her as Ellie is the weed scene and music scene. At times when she talks to Ellie, it's kinda as if they weren't really a couple. I actually forgot at one point that Dina was Ellie's partner. Character arc? Um... she... hmph.

Jesse: Damn I really liked this guy but they had to give him such an NPC cutscene death. It didn't even surprise me. I was already numb from the unlikeable storytelling. That's bad if you cannot provoke a strong emotion out of me (Which by the way it's not hard to do), your story is really bad to do so.

Manny: The same situation with Jesse, but the worse part is that bullet like... erased his character's existence and was barely ever mentioned again. Actually even Jesse suffers the same thing.

Abby: Okay mega huge problem with her. They presented her really bad. She claims she cares about people who rescue her... but she murders Joel still? She's a new character that is already presented as an antagonist super early. Like what the **** you completely ruined her chances of being liked at all. ND failed to grab our trust for Abby and left us bitter through the WHOLE STORY. The worst part is, it's like they gave Abby the best parts of the story while Ellie's side is superlinear. The established a character than I don't even care about.

Jerry: Wasn't he black... they race changed him.

    Gameplay:

It has been improved, not going to lie. But it's mostly the same as the first game, run and hide and strike with little resources. Gunplay and brutalities are pretty on par with the first game.
Main gripes, is when enemies call out their friend's names or pets. Honestly, I don't give a **** dude. If you shoot at me I don't care if your dog is named pancakes I will ****ing kill you both for attacking me first. Secondly when they are like "oh wait don't kill me". They'll always try to fight back afterwards, yeah real dynamic. Also, where is the friendly survivor groups, does every person I meet HAVE TO BE ENEMIES. The only thing I remember outside the town is the prisoners that I rescued. But that's a cutscene, give me a moral dilemma if I should raid a neutral survivor group or interact with them so it feels more real. THAT'S HOW YOU HUMANIZE PEOPLE.

    Verdict: 3/10

The gameplay is nice, but the story is like taking IP Man's machinegun punches to my cock.
I don't mind the LGBT representation, I don't mind Joel dying. But the way they presented the whole story is just, awful. The character arcs lead nowhere cause they kinda ALL DIE. The ending was pointless like you might as well finish Abby off too. You already killed hundreds of people!

The graphics are great aswell as the attention to detail, gameplay is nice because it innovates from the first but doesn’t stray to far from the original but I think the story was disappointing. If you started with Abby’s sections and Ellie and Joel flashbacks the game could of been better then but I couldn’t sympathise with Abby because it’s depicts her as the villain but then ten switches her to the victim it doesn’t move me. I’m fine with Ellie and Dina being lesbians and Lev being exiled actually fells like that would happen with a cult but it just doesn’t make me feel like I should care for some deaths like Jesse, Owen or anyone else because there isn’t enough time with them to fully develop with me. I’ve played the game through about two times now and I have found that the story is very fun at some parts but why I give it this score is because the story starts as a revenge tale but gets stale halfway through the game. And the ending makes the whole story and bloodshed pointless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's gonna be sort of difficult to sort out my thoughts here.

Positives: Beautiful graphics, voice acting, sound design, and lighting.
Negatives: There's probably at least one flaw with every other element of the game.

Regarding Joel's death, the storyline definitely could’ve been set up differently. Calling it a plot twist is giving it too much credit. It came out of nowhere, only happened because of a coincidence, and didn’t make sense with the characters involved. The only parts of the story I fondly remember are the flashbacks with Joel.

The writers seemed to have forgotten what made the first game so remarkable, the relationships between all the characters, especially Joel and Ellie. The story would’ve been virtually the same if they found something else to preface the revenge plot, and the player would actually be satisfied by getting the story and relationship the trailers suggested they would get.

Additionally, no one wanted to see the story from Abby’s perspective because we saw her do something horrific before we ever sympathized with her. Maybe if they switched it up a little, mixed her sections in with Ellie’s, instead of ripping us out of the story we paid for/expected for 10 hours of playing the character that bludgeoned a man in front of his brother and surrogate daughter, the player could've sympathized with Abby without force.

Abby's story isn't even boring. It just rips us out of the expected story and drops us with a character we don’t sympathize with. Plus the fighting was already getting really repetitive, almost no one wanted to sit through the same journey from a different perspective with no breaks or differing fighting styles. You have to work to sympathize with Abby, something you shouldn’t have to do with a well-written story. The character was introduced as someone who kills her saviors, then you’re just expected to forget about it and fall for the blatant “feel bad for her” narrative with her dog, that zebra, and the flashbacks with her dad and Owen.

Also, everyone knew Joel was an antihero. Everyone knew he was going to die, and knew he at least partially deserved it. The issue I have with how they handled it was that they did it too early/without enough care towards the character’s values and instincts. They butchered a beloved character's values for a revenge plot that didn't even have a satisfying ending. Naughty Dog can be smart, they could’ve thought of a better way to set up the revenge plot and still have a good game.

The pacing was horrible. There was too little actual plot to stretch it out to 25 hours, so they filled in the holes with horrifically repetitive combat. They came up with very few puzzles and scarcely any unique fight sequences making every fight sequence fall short of interesting. The AI is smarter, but still quite dull and easy to fight. Fighting infected was unbearable, boring, and every kill seemed to be the same. It was so much more interesting to fight the humans. Let me repeat, bad zombies in a *zombie game*. Every time I was thrown into the dark or heard a clicker, I sighed because I knew I'd have to painstakingly kill every infected for the hundredth time. Game mechanics have barely improved since the first game, seven years ago.

They treated every character like they were as expendable as a piece of paper. Nobody reacts when their friends die, not Abby when she watches Manny get shot, not Ellie when Jesse is murdered in front of her. I'll say it again, they forgot what made the first game special, the *relationships*.

    Final Thoughts:

I came in with an open mind, excited to refamiliarize myself with the relationships and world I fell in love with during the first game. I had avoided spoilers thus far, and was coming in blind without any outside opinions. I was let down profoundly. It seems as if they came in with all these fractions of fight scenes, deaths, sympathetic moments, designs of maps, game mechanics, and other elements, decided on a 25-hour playthrough time, and then mashed them all together haphazardly. The game uses your love for the first game and trust that they'd do right by it to manipulate you into spending your money.

I will always be fond of the first game, and there are some moments that are alright to sit through in the second. I even found myself wanting to go back to specific fight scenes because they brought something fresh to the table (scenes with sniffer dogs, fighting seraphites in the foliage, trying to escape the incredibly detailed school building in Seattle, etc.). The concept of traveling across the city throughout the duration of the game could've been a brilliant concept.

But the game doesn't have any value of replayability, and the characters' decisions, behavior, and the overall plot makes me regret staying hopeful and preordering instead of just reading the spoilers and watching a playthrough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All around this game was just hard to get through... the writing is something you'd see in some Netflix zombie series, the gameplay has some good improvements but over 25+ hours it gets extremely monotonous and predictable. The characters are so poorly developed and feel extremely forced, for example Dina and Ellie find a weed farm and decide to have sex all while Joel is about to be tortured (and that's not the only sex scene) they are extremely out of place and just cringy honestly. The developers completely forgot what made the first game so great and that was the dynamic between an extremely closed off man who's lost everything, and the girl that was essentially his second chance. They had some of the right ideas for tlou2 but it was executed completely wrong. I don't recommend spending the $80 for how unsatisfying and generally upsetting the game is in the end. If this is the direction they want to go with writing then movies would be the better move, a game is meant to satisfy the person playing regardless of the end being sad, it felt like while I was playing everything I was forced to do was out of spite. The game as a stand-alone title, would be entirely forgiveable and would probably be a 'decent' title. Unfortunately, as a sequel to a game as revolutionary and beautifully implemented as TLOU I, it's quite frankly, a dumpster fire.

The gameplay isn't innovative, and at times is down-right clunky or buggy, more than once I had enemies disappear mid-animation, or a mob carry out a kill-move on me, despite not being present. In one sequence, I remember sprinting down an open street, and suddenly a death animation happening, as in - a clicker just appearing and killing me. But all-in-all, the gameplay is decent.

Visually, the game is fantastic - though I think perhaps a bit too good, as my PS4 sounded like a Jet taking off almost from start to finish. Sound design is good too, can't really dispute it on an artistic level.

But, the uh.. Story.. Well-.. Ahem.. That's where it all goes to **** I feel far too many of the characters are either forgotten about, or just simply not developed enough. Some people die and you just - never hear about them again, despite the fact they clearly have some sort of significant relationship with surviving characters. The way the whole story is organised leaves you dissatisfied and for a game that relies so heavily on the story.. It's just not good enough. There's flashbacks within flashbacks, ham-fisted moral messages, that aren't subtle or intelligently done - like I've genuinely seen episodes of spongebob with more depth and subtlety. And I just genuinely cannot recommend this game. Unless of course, you've never played TLOU I. And even then, it's-.. Not great, and I'd wait for a serious, serious discount.

The franchise was always about heartbreaking story and I expected way more from it.
It feels just OK, like very average Assasin's Creed plot, but it is not The Last of Us and I wish it was as good as the physics, gameplay and visuals. Feels empty and doesn't leave you crying.

This game is a 10/10 un graphics, music and most mechanics, but the story is a 0/10 showing no respect to the first game and killing all the fathers in the game for the lesbian story to make sense. The game is full of annoying bugs and the jumping mechanics are useless and poorly developed. I've played the game in survivor difficulty and the NPC's are completly dumb. After killing Joel in the first 2 hours of the game, and then killing jesee,(the new father introduced un this game) ND make you play as Abby. The killer.
And they expect u to forgive her after what she did. If that didn't make you feel sick when u heard It, there's more, after two failed attempts of revenge, where Abby forgave Ellie's life, Ellie leaves Dina and goes after Abby. After a well developed fight, Ellie is about to kill Abby but then she remembers Joel and decides that after 25 hours of Game wanting to kill her and avenge his fallen dad, revenge is no longer an option, so she lets her live. The game ends with a dialog between Ellie and Joel one day before Joel was murdered by Abby wich ends with Joel saying:"yep" that i

    Great visual effects
    Very good operating experience
It can be said that it is currently the best 3A game at the technical level
    But that's all.

As a story-centric game, it is out of touch with the player.
Ambition and huge and complicated information caused a disconnection in the rhythm of the game, did not tell a story well,

    Small problems with gaming experience:
    1. Repeat redundant battles, causing a disconnection in the game rhythm, especially in the last part of the game, even increase the sense of boredom
    2. Inexplicable killing, too bloody but aimless killing, completely different from Part 1
    3. Monotonous battles and monotonous enemies, no characteristic variants, battles generally lack a sense of impact
    4. Too many guns and weapons, this is not Rambo, nor Laura or Drake.
    5. The weakness and abruptness of the last few chapters.

The core failure lies in the plot concept, storytelling method, and end user experience
    1. Failed narrative rhythm. The developer has great ambitions and the settings are too grand, but the story is not well told. The inexplicable turning point, lack of foreshadowing, blunt evolution, set accidents in order to surprise the players, but most of them are actually speculative. The timeline of the story is not long. Unlike the previous generation, players can experience the growth of the protagonist, and the second part feels more confusing.
    2. Disappointing storyline. The ending of the characters is not necessarily a failure, but it is too much to raise the story to a philosophical or moral level, so that it is out of reality, unlike the generation, there is no sense of substitution, and the player can feel the same when facing the choice, lacking the moment that can actually move people. /Substitute. Looking back eventually, you will understand what the screenwriter wants you to know, but you will feel deeply inexplicable and meaningless.
    3. Contradictory and chaotic design. The developers intend to tell us that this is a complex world, so the recognition of the protagonists is also very chaotic and complicated, for example, crazy killing but beginning to talk about morality in the plot; inexplicable, fickle values and trade-offs; role positioning has increased a lot Non-core elements, sexual orientation, and emotional lines, but they are abrupt and not deep enough, and actually do not help the theme of the story sublimation; according to this type of storyline, the supporting role will be very bright, but it is actually not impressive enough, like a toolman.

    Serious disconnect with the player
Lack of respect for players, like Blizzard, when game developers become arrogant and think that players should play a game according to the developer's wishes, losing player support is inevitable. When a game requires the player to understand the writer, rather than the writer telling the player a good story, naturally no one likes the story. When looking forward to a bedtime story, telling a horror novel is obviously not a good choice, whether it is out of the philosophical height of hope to exercise your courage. A disgusting story. When developing a game, don’t forget that it’s selling stuff, why do players buy it, and what do players want to buy. Thanks to the word-of-mouth of the previous generation, the game is selling very well, but the next generation of works may be affected.

In the previous generation of games, we realized that guarding hope in despair. In this work, the developer destroys hope with ease, and makes the people we guard become inexplicable, trying to educate us about the morality and complexity of the world. However, the real world is much more complicated than games, and we don’t need to learn morals through a game. What we need is a game that can touch us and can see the shadow of our ordinary people, not afraid of suffering, but always belief.

Personally speculate that the developer is too hoping that the plot has a breakthrough from the generation, so that it exceeds the ability. They can feel the anger of the players, but they dare not admit it.

There are already a lot of challenges and difficulties in the world in 2020. I don’t know why this kind of plot game was launched at this time.

    Sorry for my poor english

Here are some key points for my disappointment :
    1 - Neil Druckmann and ND purposefully changed the trailers to deceive players to think the story will be about Joel and Ellie;
    2 - After the leaked gameplay ND exploited the copyright system and falsely struck hundreds of YouTube channels that were just expressing their opinions;

The world is amazingly built, the graphics, animations, sound and atmosphere had me surprised the PS4 could even run it so all credit to the artists and programmers involved. However, there’s been several years of time for story development just to support an unwarranted personal strike from the director at the fan base...and watching the retreat into the sycophantic bubbles of denial and even arrogance on social media has been like watching a sad performance of self-flagellation...taking a piece of art and using destruction like some kind of twisted example you have a bigger heart for the story. Ironically, if we are to be lectured of the subjectivity of violence, hatred or love, and our actions as individuals being the real problem in the world (post-apocalyptic or not) then we’ve learned it not from the game but from it’s creation and aftermath. Let me start by saying TLOU 1 is one of my ( top 3 ) favorite games of all time. top tier character development and story telling that kept me coming back for more and getting me into all the feels. if you're looking for the same in part 2 do your self a favor and listen to everyone else who made the mistake and do not buy!!

to elaborate on the scores given above, the graphics ( im playing on a ps4 pro ) are amazing from the water, to the hair, to the grass the textures are on point and everything is smooth as butter. the score fits in right along with the game with no complaints in this section. definitely a beauty of a game.

the game play hasn't changed much since the first game which really didn't do this game any favors. repetitive combat, no puzzles, linear levels and mashing the square button when anything goes wrong. really left you wanting more and felt out dated.

and here we go for the story, oh boy its so bad i don"t even really know where to begin lets start with the forced politics in this game. no im not homophobic and i dont hate trans people but those characters were 100 percent forced into the series. people play video games to escape real world bull****. how ever that is not what even made this game so bad. Ellie and Joel have completely lost their personality and make decisions they otherwise wouldn't have made in the first game leading to things like joels death and many other poor choices along the way. all the new characters are introduced with little to no character development and then are killed off and you're expected to feel something? a little over half way through the game you are forced to play as Abby who i ( and many many others ) could care less about and they force you to try and feel bad about the decisions you previously made. i really wanted to put the game down at this point but i forced myself to keep going. after hours of pushing through the "revenge" story you've been playing all along is for nothing because all of a sudden Ellie has a change of heart and simply lets joels killer walk? because revenge is bad?? what a joke. bottom line this game destroyed the legacy the first game built, and everything you knew and loved through poor story telling and piss poor writing. essentially it is the season 8 game of thrones of video games. i wish i could erase this game from my memory, and i can see why half the studio left in the making.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First things first this is the best looking console game that I have ever played. The level design is at its best. The score is just as good as the first game. The combat is about the same as the first one and so is the scavenging. But what gives it such a low rating for me is that the story is just sloppy. Within the first hour of the game, Joel the character that you played in the first one and played countless hours of dies in such a cheap way to just give the game it’s existence. Revenge, that is the story, not saying that’s bad but revenge is literally the most original story you can do. Half of this game is played by Ellie whom who grow to dislike as the game progresses because of just how poorly she is written. She isn’t that jolly funny girl in the first game anymore she is just a boring non-charismatic person. Now I know that a lot can happen in the four years that have passed and they do show flashbacks as to why she is boring and etc. But they do it in a way that just doesn’t seem believable. The other half of the game is played by Joel’s killer Abby who honestly had better missions and character development than Ellie. The game just randomly switches to Abby and I thought that oh I wouldn’t be playing her long so for two hours I just was trying to get her done as fast as possible but it turns out that wasn’t the case. I didn’t like playing Abby at all. It was just such a drag that I just wanted to get it over with. At the end of Abby’s chapter three you have to fight Ellie who is the main protagonist of the game and who you loved and cared so much about in the first game. That to me was just so upsetting to people who loved the first game and grew to love Ellie. The end of the game is also just so unfulfilling I’m so many ways. Ellie goes all this way through all this trouble loses some friends and a father figure to only not kill Abby and just let her live. Now I now what they were going for revenge gets you nowhere, it’s not good for anybody but if you went through all the trouble and had so many of your close ones die you’d best be getting your revenge. The game kills off people in the game who you generally know and they do it so much and often that when someone dies it’s like (oh ok hm what else is new). The shock wasn’t there anymore it’s was just not surprising. This is the first game that I switched the difficulty to the easiest difficulty just to get it done and over with. It was just so frustrating playing this game waiting seven years from playing one of the greatest video games of all time to just being an utter disappointment. I enjoyed playing the game because I like the world of the last of us I like the different factions and the whole zombie apocalypse. I just would not buy this game at full price. If anything I’d say watch someone play it so you don’t have to waste any money. If I had to choose one word for this game it would disappointing. Expand

When the sequel was announced, I was conflicted as to whether it would be a good thing to continue a story that ended on a note that intentionally left questions unanswered. But I was optimistic that if the writing was near or equal in quality to the original, and the advancements in technology were fully utilized, that the game would be a worthy continuation of Joel and Ellie's story. Unfortunately, aside from some scarce moments where the spirit of the original game is allowed to show, this sequel becomes a shallow revenge plot that sought to nudge angered reactions from fans for its own publicity. I'm sure many will praise this game's story for "taking risks", "trying something different", or "subverting audience expectations" (none of which are inherently bad things, of course). But, in this case, I see it as a lazy way to gain notoriety through controversy rather than writing in complex questions and decisions for players to ponder over as the original game did. As far as I'm concerned, Joel and Ellie's story ended with their return to Tommy's dam, and nothing Naughty Dog does with the franchise in the future will change my mind. Expand

They mistreat Ellie and Joel so badly to the point where it’s not even a sequel anymore to the first game which was mainly based on their relationship as father and daughter. Not to mention that the new characters each have a political background. It’s like the directors wanted to shoved their messages in your face and that’s not even surprising to me anymore because I just realized that one of the directors of the game is a FEMINIST! Yes, a feminist. Neil Druckmann is actually the main director of the game and he has been caught for liking and retweeting SJW fanarts of the Uncharted Series even though there was no LGBTQ character in that game. I don’t mean to be a homophobic, I’m actually loving the fact that Ellie was lesbian because it’s very rare to see a main character whose in the LGBTQ community. But you don’t have to push your agenda to the point where it is so damn obvious + disrespecting the main characters. The whole entire game is so SAD and violent to the point where I had to stop watching a stream because it’s just hard to imagine that this was the game that you’ve waited years for. Just some advice, DO NOT LISTEN TO CRITICS! Listen to gamers on twitch or Youtube such as PewDiePie and AngryJoe. Leaving the "misleading marketing" prior to launch and the "questionable story line" they went with aside, the game is an absolutely miserable experience. Every single character either dies a horrible, brutal death or goes through a hellish sequence of events before the end credits start to role. Who would ever want to play such a sad game? There is nothing goes that comes of it, no silver lining, no compensation for all the suffering everyone involved goes through (including the play). The game leaves you feeling empty... unfulfilled and... well, angry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    Decepcionado!

CORRECTION Most of the fans of the original game are not going to like this game. The story is slow and boring, the characters are awkward around each other, they kill off most of the good characters... Joel and Jessie and replace them with characters that no one cares about... Abby and Owen. After Abby kills Joel they try to show us her past like we give a f*ck. And the whole plot of the game, a revenge story is not even met BECAUSE ELLIE DOESN'T EVEN KILL ABBY. Also like Tyler said, Joel deserved so much better. Ellie and Joel come across a Bloater, ambush, armored truck, Joel gets impaled, David the pedo, and an army of Fireflies. To think that after all Ellie and him went through for him to die to a golf club. We might as well forget about this game because the one made seven years ago is still way better. On the bright side tho the music, graphics, and acting is really good. Expand

I rated this game just above average cause it has some good tho HD going for it like the graphics the sound music acting game mechanics the worlds the art design and the hand to hand combat the new infected creatures are a nice thing. My issue with the game is the direction they took with it as the game went along I found my self getting less interested and that’s a shame cause usually it goes the other way. Being forced to play as Abby didn’t help I just kept saying to myself I don’t care can we just get back to Ellie. The pacing is also off there are kinks of this game were I was just like let’s move this along but I get it they want you to scavenge for supply’s and go slow with stealth. I knew they would kill Joel off I just thought he’d get a better send off and maybe we could play his death instead of it being a cutscene we play as Joel up until he dies then we play as Ellie it’s just a thought I had. Over all the games not trash it’s really well done with the graphics and level designs just the story not so good. Expand

I owned it on PS3 then bought it on PS4 for the upgraded graphics, TLOU Part II is a terrible story - it's like it was written by someone that had no connection at all to the 1st TLOU. The only connections I made to this story was when I play Ellie or the flashbacks to Ellie and Joel (loved the spaceship launch part - I cried). When I had to play as Abby I felt nothing (no fear of dying, didn't care, no joy at her victories, didn't care, no sympathy for her when she was hit or hurt or taken captive, didn't care). I want to give this a 0 but due to the graphics, scenery, game mechanics and playing as Ellie I give it a 3. I will tell you that I wont be buying it when it comes out on PS5 and I will never buy a Naughty Dog game again on the faith that you actually give a crap about your fans. Naughty Dog has the right to make a story that they own the rights to and I have the right to not to give them my money unless they earn my business back with thoughtful well written story driven games like TLOU1. The relationship between the protagonists is only superficial in comparison and the character development isn't great either. Great game the first story and excellent gameplay, in this it doesn't make sense, almost all the important characters of the first game were killed in this as if nothing, like joel or tommy, I'm not saying that they shouldn't have died but they deserved a much better and dignified ending, literally if those characters were killed like any enemy who sees the point of view in abby, but they are mythical characters and they didn't deserve that ending, let's leave that side of the deaths, ok they killed joel ire after Revenge, Ellie Mato almost half the world to avenge Joel and when he reached his goal, he did not dare to kill her, it is that he would have finally left a good message, revenge only brings loneliness and regret, but no, Ellie did not kill abby, very stupid, you kill half the world, you reach your goal and you don't want to kill it, really like the naughty dog **** Pesima Story Expand

It spoils the overall experience for a user that simply just wants to play and enjoy a game. Politics and religion do not belong in video games.

Without spoilering anything, I honestly felt like being hostage at a game I bought, just to get to the ending of the story. I was shoved through countless scenarios, with the game constantly "trying to sell" me something I didn't want, and yeah in the end I even did "buy it", but man did I hate the product I bought. (I just felt emotionally manipulated and hated that)

Also, there were so many unlikeable characters and this game was trying so hard to make me see them somewhat favourable, just to then destroy that again and after playing through all that and thinking you finally get a somewhat decent ending that would have made this worth it, the game destroys even the last character you liked and drags the ending on to an extent that was not fun any more.

it was so bad i stopped playing approximately 2-3h before the end. Seeing the end in playthroughs though, was proof enough for me that it wasn't even worth it. Seriously never have I seen such a badly written plot.

Don't get me wrong, the initial idea is amazing and the means for that are as heartbreaking as they are amazing, but man the execution of the idea and the written character are at times seriously bullsh**. It was just bad and I wish I never played it to begin with.

Her crew probably tortured him to the point where he cries( based on what Owen says before he and Abby have sex). If you have played the first game this is simply not forgivable it does not matter how good she Abby might be she tortured a guy who is like a father to Ellie. While the game does a good job at bringing out her story it's difficult to enjoy it if every fiber of your being wants to stab her.

The gameplay is actually enjoyable however once you start playing as Abby you just want it to stop. The same goes for what can only be described as the best atmospheres I have seen. I guess the only saving grace for the fans of the original game is that Abby has no friends or loved ones left. To those who think that it's amazing how you overcome revenge in the end please try to understand that it's not how one would feel when it comes to having your loved one murdered. Also if you think Joel deserved to die because he killed the fireflies and prevented the cure again try to imagine having to let go of your loved one for some **** cure.

Awesome horsey. Now the bad. I played this game hoping for Ellie and Joel’s relationship to grow and for them to finally discuss the firefly stuff and naughty dog ruined it. Like obviously the game is set in a terrible post apocalyptic world with zombie like enemies so **** will always go down. But no one asked for these random ass characters from Seattle to come in? Literally no one asked for Abby? We wanted a growth story with Joel and Ellie not some bull**** story about revenge that has been told 90 million times already??? The whole game is stressful and made me cry the whole time? Like I get that it’s supposed to be an emotional tough world but the happy moments in the previous game were what made it so good. The last of us part 2 just is one terrible thing after another with no choice but to sit through it with the only good parts being the flashbacks with Joel. Idk naughty dog really trashed this story and characters. It’s just really sad. Like I know it’s a game but I felt like we all looked up to Joel because we felt the hurt when he lost his own daughter. Just to **** kill him when he’s become like a dad to another? Terrible writing. Like my own dad died two years ago and seeing Joel die is like reliving that memory so thank you naughtydog for that. Joel and Ellie deserved a better story where the enemies were just zombies and actual bad guys. Stop trying to make stories about revenge and stop making zombie apocalypse stories without emphasis on the actual zombies? It’s like his game was trying to be the walking dead tv series and we all know that went to shut the second it became more about enemy humans rather than enemy zombies.. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don´t know how start this. I have no words to describe it. I waited to long for this game and now I have nothing. I feel cheated, cheated by ND. I feel ND has stolen my money. They use fake trailers to made us think that Joel will be in this part too, very important part of Ellie 's journey. This game would be about Ellie's journey with Joel. They use Joel to increase the game sales, that's all. It's disgusting. And after 2 hours of gameplay, Joel is dead in the worst, cruel and unnecessary way. What's the point of this? I knew that Joel probably die in this game, but wtf? His death is the worst thing i've seen in all my life. He deserved better than this. I have no problem with Joel's death, is the way he died that make me feel ill. Unrespectful, awful for a main character. Non sense. The game lost his sense in that moment for me.

The worst part is when you discover that you have to play as his killer, the game force you to play as Abby and try to force you to empathize with her for 12 hours. What's wrong with you ND?? Did you think this is would be a good idea at all? ERROR! You can't empathize with a character who kill one of the favourite characters in the franchise. I don't care about Abby, I don't want to know anything about her, I don't care her life, i **** don't care. Her part is full of situations that nothing have to do with the real plot, are unnecessary, it's just filler to sell you a character like the good guy from the movie. Neil said that Ellie would be the only playble character, funny right? They hid Abby and they excuse themselves with the surprise factor. They lied again.

The script is full of holes and non sense situacions like Tommy giving their names in front of a lot of strangers with guns or Abby telling Ellie that she killed all her friends, what do you expected?? YOU KILLED JOEL FIRST
The game is full of violence, you have to kill a lot of people but at the end, surprise!!! The violence is bad my friend. That's makes no sense. All the Ellie's journey and Joel's death is for nothing, FOR NOTHING!!! Ellie can't forgive Joel for saved her but, she can forgive Abby for kill Joel.Really?? I can't. I forced myself to play the game, to see the end when i really wanted to deleted the game from the console, all the way and for nothing.
The story is poorly told, a non sense.

Visually and technically, the game is soooo impressive, the best thing that i ' ve seen in my life. But this is not enough when the story is really bad, when the story is poorly told and when you kill a main character with a poor and stupid excuse.

I feel insult, they destroyed all the good things that TLOU had, they destroyed everything even the relation between Ellie and Joel, and why? I can't understand it. And I'm tired to read comments about you're inmature or homophobic, YISUS!! NO!! It's just i don't like how this is went, that's all. I'm not expected a happy ending because TLOU is always cruel, but this is too much. I play games for fun and for the feelings and this game made me feel miserable.

    Thanks for nothing ND
