The gameplay has some improvements over the first and yes the graphics are amazing. But If you're like me, you loved the first one for the story, the banter between Joel and Ellie as you walked around exploring, and the feeling that in hopeless moments in that messed up world at least they had each other. If this is you, I suggest you do some story-based research.

I'm sure many out there enjoy this game, but it almost feels like a different team tried to make their own mark without regard for some of the fans. I wish someone would have told me this before I played it. I will never replay this game, I regret ever having played it and wish I had played the first one 100 times instead. I feel so disappointed and can only hope that in a few years I will forget about this game and be able to enjoy the first one again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good graphics , and overall display but with some of the worst wrinting ive ever seen.
The people who played tlou1 went to this game with certain expectations like:
-Joel does give trust to unkown people (in the first game you can see him seeing throu an ambush while a man is seeking help in the midle of the road and develeping a sense of trust over an extended period of time with Ellie).

And seeing a character like that, to let himself get played by a women whos equiped in a snowstorm and weights 200 pounds saying that she got a base nearby (So why the hell are u here?!!!) Joel is a smart guy and he would never let himself be played like that.
But the game needed Joel to die so that it could spark the sense of the weirdest revenge ever ,
-Caracther diversity over Caracther development , this game is a message , and to people that are saying that if u critise the game u are homofobic / transphobic or dont like women in general ur wrong , most of the games with female leads are so good , Horazion , Tomb raider the uncharted expansion of Chloe and Nadine we also have the case of Trevor in GTA V saying to Franklin that he is bisexual and he was one of the best character in GTA .
So to the point, u start as a lesbian women and an asian guy knocks at the door folowed by an hispanic women that is bisexual vs a 200 pound women and her transgender friend and daddy issues sister , and the problem with this diversity is not that its there its the context where its being put (Zombie/infection apocalipse) and u see througth the game that he really wants you to pick this pro-diversity vibe so much that you end up not falling in love with none of these caracthers , the problem is not the homophobes the problem is that ur shoving contantly and non stop this sexuality aspect and it beacomes theyr personality , if a game througth the whole gameplay reminded me nonstop that my male caracther likes to have sex with women i would have the same reaction .
We get it DIVERSITY, great now develop the caracthers pls.
-And finally the plot holes, and there are a lot but im gonna mencion one so you can understand this bs writing , so after the worst ending in video game history ,where only after killing 200 people Ellie realises that revenge is bad and not meaningfull and dosent kill the only person that she should kill to avenge Joel , somebody for the love of god tell me How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses how does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In the shoulder ,sick and pregnant, Tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and Jesse`s dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses ?
Its just overall bad and i hope u redo or at least make a dlc that this was all Ellie imagination after taking that weed with Dina

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like this game. Genuinely, I went into it with high expectations following TLoU, which is high up in my favorite games list. By this point I'm sure everyone know about some of the debate surrounding the game, but in case you don't I'll get into some of my issues with this game.

First let's touch on some of the lies Naughty Dog told. "You won't be forced to kill any dogs", lie. The trailer showed Joel in scenes that he's been replaced with entirely other characters saying those exact lines. Maybe not a lie but a horrible misdirection at best. Censoring people that have problems with the game and issuing DMCA strikes against anyone who dares to speak badly about the game. Naughty Dog has entirely lost my support on those matters alone.

Now I rated this game a 3/10 due to phenomenal graphics and sound design and smooth gameplay. The gameplay is nothing stellar and improves minimally on the first game's system which sounds at first like a good thing until you realize it's been 7 years and the gameplay was never the main draw of the first game anyway. To make matters worse, even with as smooth as the game is, the fights feel long, drawn out, and there aren't as many set pieces and cutscenes to break it up as there is in the first game. Without that, the gameplay gets boring and monotonous very quickly, less of a challenge and more of a chore. That's not saying that there aren't some very good moments in the game. When the Seraphites are hunting you as Ellie is amazing with the tension, chasing after Nora is one of the best moments in the game, and encountering the strange mutated infected with Abby is a lot of fun. But those moments are so spaced out and rare that they just can't make up for it.

Now for the story. I went into this expecting Joel to die, I always figured he was going to. But two hours into the game, while being stupidly trusting of strangers which Joel has never done before? He doesn't even try to fight back despite having a pistol on him and it's not like they were threatening Tommy. And before someone tries to argue that Joel had "gone soft", no. He participated in regular patrols and still killed quite often as they even show in the game. I expected Joel to die, but the way they killed him was horrible and wrong and Joel deserved a better death.

Then you play as Ellie and that's... fine? Ellie is different in this, there's very little of the Ellie left that we fell in love with in the first game, but she's older and angry about Joel so whatever. But most of her section is just so dreadfully boring. It gets better towards the end of it but it just felt like a narratively dead slog. Her relationship with Dina was forced at best and I don't like Dina anywhere near as much as I liked Ellie, Tommy's mentioned but barely in it, and Jesse... he's basically a nonentity. Then, right at what feels like the climax, where Abby has showed up to face you for killing all her "friends"...

You skip to playing Abby and the pacing of the game and all the tension comes to a dead, grinding halt so you can play the next 10 hours experiencing the story through Abby's point of view. I already hate Abby. I don't want to play as Abby. They try to make you sympathize with her by showing her being okay to her friends and playing with dogs but it doesn't work because they've already dead set you against her. Her father was a piece of crap too who showed more sympathy and caring to a zebra than a living and breathing 14 year old girl so any sympathy towards him and Abby for what Joel did there is dashed. Literally the only character I felt sympathy for on Abby's side was Mel... and the dog, Alice. Both of whom you already know are dead so you don't connect with them like the game wants you to. Abby is a piece of crap the entire time, getting together with Owen while knowing that he's still with Mel and she's freaking pregnant, and condoning and wanting to participate in torture. Because that's supposed to endear us to Abby?? I liked Lev and Yara if that helps? But Yara dies and Lev is nowhere near the personality that Ellie was so I felt very little connection to Lev.

When the end of the game came around it felt surreal in a very bad way. Why wait so long? And then let Abby go? If the lesson they were trying to teach is "revenge bad" why did Abby get away despite achieving her revenge?

I think what makes me most disappointed is that I see the potential this game had. It could've been good. Instead we got a badly paced, poorly written, depressing slog of a game that does not stand up to it's predecessor at all. Save your money. This game really isn't worth it.

If you were a fan of the first game's story however, you will be surely disappointed with this story. Poor pacing, shoddy writing, and forced moral messages plague this game. I'm fine that the game's story didn't go as I had hoped or anticipated, but I personally feel cheated as the trailers for the game mislead me to believe the story was going in a different direction than it did. I'm aware other companies have similar practices, but I think this is a case of it going too far.

Will rate it 3/10. (Spoiler-free) Graphics and sound and level design are pretty nice, will agree on that. BUT, its mostly just walking simulator with fast getting repetitively boring combat. The story is meh and the game is just a movie with some walking/combat moments. Don't think that you need to buy it. You can get the same experience just by watching a walkthrough without commentary.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 was one of my most anticipated games over the past 7 years. I fell in love with the original on PS3, and later the remaster on PS4. Despite having some of the game’s story spoiled via leaks, I kept an open mind and waited to judge the game until it came out.

It turned out to be one of the worst gaming experiences in my life. The story in this game is so poorly written that it lets down the whole product. Naughty Dog changed scenes shown in the trailers post leak, to show an older Joel and make people believe that he was present during much of the game’s story, when in actuality these are merely flashbacks sprinkled throughout the game.

Joel dies very early in this game. Roughly 2 hours in. He is killed by a newly introduced character, Abby, when she tortures and murders him with a golf club.

This kicks off a revenge plot that meanders here and there, but doesn’t lead anywhere satisfying. We’re constantly told that “killing is bad” but the game’s themes are at war with it’s brutal gameplay, which consists of Ellie killing legions of enemies with their own names, and some dogs too.

About halfway through the game, the player switches to controlling Abby. They then have to play 10 hours of her backstory, where she plays fetch with her dog (that Ellie just murdered earlier) and saves a zebra with her dad. All this is designed to emotionally manipulate the player into sympathising with this woman, Joel’s murderer.

Abby’s section culminates in a boss fight against Ellie, where the player MUST control Abby as they hunt her down. Why Naughty Dog thought this was a good idea is beyond me. Eventually Abby wins and spare’s Ellie and her pregnant girlfriend’s life because her new friend disapproves of pregnant woman murder.

A bunch of other pointless things happen. The last act is a mess of time jumping and everyone acts incredibly out-of-character. Eventually Ellie decides to go finish Abby. She leaves her GF and baby and travels to Santa Barbara, where she finds Abby tied to a cross.

She lets Abby down, they head to the shore where some boats are and Ellie decides she “can’t let [Abby] leave.” So they have a fight to the death. Well not exactly.

Abby bites off Ellie’s fingers and Ellie begins to drown her underwater. She then has a flashback of Joel playing guitar, and it somehow causes her to spare this woman. She lets her leave and cradles her stumpy hand.

The ending has Ellie return to her home, where her family has left her. She tries to play guitar but it’s impossible without her fingers. (No idea why she didn’t just play lefty lmao)

Ellie has lost Joel, her GF, her baby, her friends, everyone she cared about and now her last connection to Joel, her guitar. She leaves alone. The End.

So this game is such a mess of “themes” and “messages” that it’s hard to really unpack exactly what ND is trying to achieve here. There’s something about “the cycle of revenge” or something but it’s lost in the ridiculousness of the plot. Any messages the game thinks it’s conveying end up coming across as incredibly condescending and shallow, instead of deep and profound.

This game basically spits on the relationship of Joel and Ellie, and I strongly caution anyone who has ANY love in their heart for the original game and it’s characters, to stay far away from this. The level design and animations are very impressive, as is the mood and atmosphere. The gameplay is fairly solid and practically identical to the original.

All in all, TLOU2 is a disappointment when it should have been a gen defining game. A pass when it should have been GOTY. All I can say is I truly hope they never make a TLOU3. Before this game came out, I wondered if we even needed to get a sequel, now I wish we didn’t.

You see, I don't care if you're gay, Japanese, Chinese, trans, or whatever... The thing is, this just shouldn't be the point of The Last Of Us. The first game was a apocalyptic world about a man who lost his daughter and found in Ellie his reason for continuing to live how a decent man. Was essentially the touching relationship between a father and a daughter, something basically nonexistent in games in general. A game with this this kind of plot and interaction has nothing do with politic ideals, sexual agenda, a new male-girl that we are forced to play or a cliché cycle of revenge already used in thousands of games and movies. But then Neil Druckmann choose put aside the the greatest strength of this franchise - the relationship between Ellie and Joel - to bring all of those LGBT+ progressists things and a nihilistic plot, just to "subverting expectations". It's simply frustrating. In the end, everything feels forced and overly depressive. Now I just want to erase that second part from my memory and pretend it never exists. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've been excited about Part 2 since the first game came out. I was quick to defend the game before it even came out, and I made sure to play the entire game before forming any opinions. And honestly? Disappointed is an understatement. The gameplay, the visuals, the soundtrack, were all amazing. The story on the other hand was needlessly miserable. It was hollow and empty, convoluted and contradictory. What I loved most about the first game was Joel and Ellie, and their love for each other. What I loved was the story about finding hope and love and family in dark times. The second game destroys everything the first game built up. Joel dies immediately, a decision so jarring and horrible that I had a hard time continuing to play afterwards. The only scenes with Joel and Ellie together are flashbacks. I think I may have been able to stomach the rest of the story, if not for several facts. For starters, more than half of the game is played as Joel's killer. The game tries to make you understand, to let you empathize, but I couldn't. We had an entire game to get to know and love Joel and Ellie. We watched Abby murder Joel, and then we're expected to fall in love with her later. It was hard. I couldn't do it. Another thing that I found to be lazy and unfortunate was the handling of character deaths in the story. Every single character who died did so in an abrupt and often times unnecessary way. In the first game, there was always something to foreshadow or warn of an impending death. The Last of Us Part 2 relies soley on shock factor. My third issue is with the way the characters were written. Often times I found it hard to recognize the characters. Tommy especially was contradictory in the most jarring way. In the first half of the game, he seemed like the Tommy we all knew and loved from the first game. But by the end he had a sudden change, contradicting his character from the beginning of the very same game! Fourthly, our biggest conflicts from the first game were given little to no attention in the second game and I found no closure. There are several scenes of Ellie questioning Joel's decision to save her at the hospital, and one scene of her discovering the truth. It was not enough, and it was all handled poorly. The ending of the game is brutal for no reason. There is no satisfaction. There is nothing to comfort you, or to make you feel like your time playing the game was spent well. It is hollow. It is lonely. It is needlessly miserable. My disappointment for the story of this game is heartbreaking. The first game was one that I found I could play over and over again. The second game is one I'm not sure that I can ever play again. Expand

There is no denying that the gameplay and graphics are great but for a game that is single player only the story needs to be good and it is unfortunatly utter trash. After what she does and how she does it i had zero interest in playing as Abby, i don't care what Joel did and seeing it from her view still didn't make me change my views on Joel's actions and the fact that Abbys half of the game is just trying to make you feel sorry for her which i don't.I finished the game somehow slogging through the last half but wow that ending is awful and i'm guessing part 3 if there were plans for one won't happen after the obvious poor reception of Abbys character and the total destruction of Ellie and Joel's.It may be a massive success in terms of sales but this will do massive harm to Naughty dog's future games especially after the blatant misleading trailers showing Joel on the journey in scenes that don't even exist.I wanted this game to be good but it's a massive thumbs down from me. This game had great graphics, sound and i actually enjoyed the gameplay/stealth mechanics. The reason i am giving it such a low score is because I am a huge story person and the story in this game is so bad with so many plot holes with its linear progression that it made me not even want to finish it.

Last of us 2 would make for an amazing and thought-provoking movie or netflix type of series, but it makes for an awful videogame experience. I do know how the entire story unfolds and ends, and that's not what bothered me. I haven't finished the game because of choices that the game is forcing onto its players, which is the main issue that I have with this game. (I had to watch the rest of the story and cinematic scenes from other people's play-through runs, to see how the story ends).

Regardless of whatever moral lesson, or story the writers want to convey, i'm never a fan of forcing actions or narratives onto others. I'm not going to play a game that forces onto me, an action that I wouldn't want to make. This game does this SEVERAL times, many many times, to the point that it feels like the writers are just badgering & forcing themselves on the player; there's no real choice.

+1 point for the amazing and beautiful world-building.
+1 point for the accessibility features
+1 point for the science-based, very well researched world plot and character development/psychology.
-1 point for lack of choice/consequence in your gameplay (it was absolutely on rails)
-3 points for several VERY FORCED story narratives, which i'm absolutely not ok with. You have absolutely no choice when it comes to the story even if it's morally conflicting to you.
-1 point for lack of more thought provoking puzzles.
-2 points for lacking gameplay (poor stealth system, repetitive gameplay... it was incredibly boring)

Again, last of us would've made for an incredible movie... I just didn't enjoy it as a GAME that i'm supposed to interact with, and be able to make my own choices. I don't really enjoy people forcing their own views or decisions on me... especially not the ones in this game.

Minor improvements in terms of gameplay from the first part , no multiplayer as of now , story is the weakest part . The middle part of the game feels a bit boring and you are forced to play as characters you have hardly any emotional attachment to . Overall ok but wont miss much if you feel like skipping it at least until its on ps5 with multiplayer .

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel absolutely screwed by naughty dog. Let me start by saying the gameplay, graphics, general feel of the game is amazing. Where this game goes downhill for me is the writing. Let me be clear, if have developed a strong connection to joel and ellie, dont risk playing this game. Early on in the game joel is killed by abby. And after that, all we want is to kill these evil chick and her friends. It seems to be going that way until about 20 hours in. All the sudden you pick up with playing as abby again. Not knowing that your time with ellie is basically over. They try to get you to see things from abbys point of view, which is where they screwed up big time. The real fans of this game are here to play as ellie. Not abby, the **** who killed and tortured joel. There could always be another side to a character. Why would they even think about ruining our connection with ellie by trying to show things from your nemesis POV. At one point you actually beat the hell out of ellie. I felt compelled to let ellie kill me as abby about 10 times before I actually finished beating her(ellie!!) Like would you ever see that done in uncharted? I think not. So anyway you eventually get a bit more time with ellie, only to have a very underwhelming ending. Its a video game, how did naughty dog think this story path was the most intriguing is beyond me. We've seen by the first 'last of us' that they can make a very emotional game with a positivish ending. I'm not saying a game where ellie and all her friends live and get that much wanted revenge, but maybe one where we play as ellie for the game and not half as ellie and half as the girl we want to kill. Just feels like a GIANT slap in the face. And the people that say the game is in a post apocalyptic world. Not everything is gonna work out. Well those ppl obviously aren't attached to the characters. There is a reason these reviews are so low. I was literally hating on these people giving low scores....until I finished the game..... Other than that there were ton of plot holes, did Joel a disservice, poorly written characters and a horrid ending.
Graphics were great though. As for the gameplay, it was okay. Honestly I expected more. It did not really evolve 7 years later, just some stuff added. Between the horrid story which is important in a game like this and the dated game play, an abysmal 3 out of 10 from me. The games media must have been paid off to rate this game 10/10.

Sadly all I can say is that I liked the gameplay as for the story *sigh* I can only say it wasn’t for me. The pacing for me was all over the place. And making me play as Abby for so long it just made me hate her even more and even her father. Honestly Mel said it best when she told Abby “you’re a piece of **** Abby.” And the ending could have been meaningful if it wasn’t so damn floppy floppy. Having Ellie go from giving up chasing Abby and living happy with Dina and JJ. To Tommy guilt tripping her into chasing her down again. To her rescuing her and Lev. The then right before saying they have to do this to then right about to kill her saying nah **** it. It flipped sooo much it was just wrong. The story did have some good moments but they were all overshadowed by making us play as a character at least I could not get behind, like Owen did lol. I tried to like her too I just couldn’t. Sadly gameplay is good but not good enough to get a better score and overshadow how bad the story was. I hope I have enlightened people as to why I couldn’t give it a better score. This game is a huge disappointment the first story was about endure and survive the second one I admit the graphics were great the soundtrack was amazing, but terrible story writing Naught Dog did whatever they can to make us hate Joel and Ellie, what Joel was going around killing innocent people, the people feel sorry for Abby, gave Abby better weapons, choke out people, better boss fights, better shooting games, nice to animals, as for Ellie they made her kill pregnant woman, dogs, she was just out of character, I can't believe what ND did to the characters we love and to introduce a new playable character we are forced to play, they did whatever they could to make people like Abby and hate Joel, I have never be so angry over a game, I waited 7 years for this? I hated playing this game it is complete trash never playing it again. If you have played this game, you can clearly see they gave Abby better weapons, better boss fights, target shooting at gun range, target shooting with bow, plays catch with dogs so you can enjoy playing as her, for Ellie she is going around killing dogs, smoking weed. They wanted to show us that revenge never does any good by making us sympathize with the antagonist of the game but that never happened with me. I never liked Abby throughout the game because she killed such a beloved character. And while I’m talking about Joel, he was one of the smartest people in the first game as he was cautious of whoever he was with but in this game he literally went into a random person’s base and told them his actual name and I know he would’ve never done that.

The first game told a story about survival and the lack of moral standards in an apocalyptic world. This game, as its sequel, abandoned everything that made its predecessor successful and tried, in a very unpolished way, to force a moral standard on the audience. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Beautiful gameplay and graphics, and a pretty good story. The second character is the villain, and kills Joel. However, they go through a redemption story that paints them as very similar to Joel. They are both good people who have done terrible things for their own 'right' reasons. Ellie goes through the revenge cycle, and realizes it is hopeless and pointless. The reason this review is so low is exclusively for the ending. It isn't satisfying, as it horrifically punishes Ellie. Abby does equally terrible things as Ellie, but has no negative aftereffects. Ellie loses her family, fingers and all connections she had left with Joel. Yes, revenge is bad, and it shouldn't be sought to this extent. Abby does lose her friends, but gains new ones. Ellie doesn't gain anything at all from her journey, except pain and suffering. It's set up to hurt, showing Ellie as happy before, and then tearing it away. With a real ending, rather than one that only sought to subvert expectations and hurt a beloved character, This game could have been an 8 or 9. By simply Punishing Ellie as well as the player base, it deserves nothing higher than a 3. Expand

Simple but honest review, by topics.

    Positives:
    - Great graphics
    - Great technical gameplay
    - Great sound design - voice actors, music etc.
    - Have one slice of probably the most touching scene I've watched in a video game (Ellie and Joel at the dinosaur park, it's just beautiful).

    Negatives:
    - Total disrespect with one of the two protagonist: the way Joel died (I could just stop here because it was ridiculous). Totally ambiguous about the way his personality was in the first game and now - the precautions he would take. Being rejected by Ellie for years after telling her the truth.

    - Major disrespect with the other of the two protagonists: killing a lot of people, losing two fingers and being unable to play guitar properly (it being Joel's legacy to her); getting a friend shot in the head in front of her; having her loved and pregnant girlfriend being threatened in front of her eyes and unable to do nothing to stop it; getting her 'uncle' shot and physically debilitated also in front of her; and goes without saying, watching Joel get massacred in front of her eyes also being unable to do anything.

I'll try to make it in actual short points because these negative things are just so ridiculous that, as you can see, I got driven by them.

    - They screwed the relation between Ellie and Joel, which was what the fans loved. I mean, it there, but like I said, it's just a slice and it's completely shadowed by the rest of the trash writing.
    - Players forced to play as Abby, forced to see her as a 'not too bad person that tried to redeem herself and didn't deserve to die' at the end. I mean, all I wanted was to kill her at some point. And you tell me that this is about realism? It's a game, the point of it is exactly to do things as far as our fantasy and the game can lead us. But this one don't let you go too far about this because of some sort of 'Joel wouldn't want me to do this' ethics. Joel literally just murdered hundreds to save Ellie, and certainly would go way more far than Tommy torturing some guys to revenge Ellie if it was the opposite.

    - Have I said that Ellie just lose two fingers?
    - I cant do this anymore. What a way to do a disgrace in comparison with the masterpiece first game.

Sorry about my english or anything in that sense, I'm from Brazil and writing this at 3 am.

    Technical score: 9/10
Writing/Story score: 2/10 (1 point, that slice of a beautiful scene between them and 1 point because I also liked the relation between Ellie and Dina, and also because how they did look Tommy at that sniping chasing scene, just showing how brutal he is - by the way, they just butchered these things too: 1) Dina couldn't stand Ellie leaving again and 2) they physically disabled Tommy and he lost his wife - I mean, at this point just looked like they where trying to put as much terrible things as possible to give any sense of drama? It ended up being ridiculous after all.

Assuming that story has more 'score weigh' than technical score, I'd give this game a,

    General score: 3,5/10

We as Player, as Joel, have judged all of humankind to die under Zombies just so we can be happy with Ellie, why shut we start caring for our Enemies?
The Carakte felt no loger the same. Joel was easely exekutet and Ellie no longef feld the same.
Abby rund the game 10h of something i don't care about.
    Cons:
    1. in my eyes the trailer implied that Ellie's girlfriend will be killed and Jole and Ellie go to avenge here. I bought the game expecting Joel to die in the end ore give him a minigfull end, the chance to lay our live down for Ellie maybe.
    2. The start is good, i don't remember to mutch. What I do remember is that I hade a bead feeling withe Abby. From the first time, the saw the City that sadly never left. Even thou it was spouse to change in the 10 + hours game time. with only 3 likable side Characters, the Mel, Leve, Yara, whas it way to long and dragt out i skipt nearly all the cut scenes because i was so bord and wanted beck to the real story of ellie not knowing that Abby wut last 10h. (i realy dilikte playing as Abby whitch let to disinterest in the story).
    3. Joels death made me feel empty no faith no noting just butchered in front of Ellie. It felt random and lackluster, there was no will for vengeance, just disepeutment.
    4. Instead of Joel we go out whit Dina where we get some sweet romantic interactions, who in my eyes wher dullt, because Joel was supposed to go whit Ellie.
    5. The on of romance with Dina and Jesse was to mutch, it made me question (like Joel) the intentions of Dina and if they were genuine.
    6. Playing Abby against Ellie was *****, It felt forced and as Player you felt as if you were Playing out a bad dream. You only Play in hopes it will come to a and where you whin (Ellie wins) but that never happens. I have trite to Kill Abby but nothing changes.
    7. Tommy gets to live an Joel is dead.... Make Joel appear and then go to kill Abby then 8/10 game.
8 The ending feels disgusting, the last of us made you feel something. 2 it is just sadness ore noting. Molstly confugen or noting the hole game trou. The end wher you just fell sad and emty is not a Game i what to play

    Cons: Gameplay
1 Ellies face looks so goofy in the flashbacks just jus the old model.
2 I miss breaking looks, save feels repetitive mix it up with both.
3 i bow felt not as good as in the first game
4 Whapans where not rewording and ammo where to scars at the end. Rushing the Hospital as Joel with an MP was fun. As Ellie, there was no ammo even thou you got an Mp what was in the fits game the sine to go hame on people. Felt to slow ant to repetitive. To many carts, they felt spammy.
    5. boss fits felt sometimes random and the big Zombies was not intuitive. I failt a lot bevor i randomly hotshotet on hade on the Zomby 2 sek after a new try it felt not rewording.
    6. Movment felt wörs then lat game
    7. Boss Zomby was to dark no way to mover felt frustrating and luck. The last of us 1 Sports hall was brigt and easier to understand.

Musik!!!!! Wher ist he clasik Musik i mist that so much. The world felt boring and empty i never noticed the Musik.

    Pros: Story
    - Ellie being gay is modern and felt to me not forst.
    - Jackson was nice shut have ben just more.
    -
    Pro gameplay:
    - Exploring was ok, was not too motivated because I hate more interest in the story
    - Crossbow was cool
    - Wappen crafting lookt good not to satisfying.
    - environment hat a lot of detail and the rooms tell a story of the owner
    - bots where nice
    - horses to

The Game wut be good if it was a stand alown. The carakters where new you did not care much about them and the story was presented in a way where you where mate to hate the character and afterwords supposed to like em because of 10h of gameplay.
No revenge no Ending not to goot. Felt empty

Call it "Evel and Lesser" and make it a separate game 8/10 maybe if you have not playd 7 years of Joel and Ellie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The main reason why this game is appealing is most likely due to its beautiful graphics and the nostalgia players feel when playing as Ellie. Joel, the beloved protagonist from the first game, dies in the first two hours in a pathetic way. Not only does Joel die, but the purpose of the story is to paint Joel as the antagonist who killed an innocent doctor just trying to do his job. Completely disregarding the fact that in order to develop a cure, the doctors had to kill Ellie, someone Joel viewed as his own child. Naughty Dog tried to get us to empathize with Abby, the daughter of the murdered doctor who died trying to kill young Ellie to develop a vaccine, by making gamers play as her for the last 14 hours of the game. This is an attempt to make gamers view Ellie as the antagonist, because she killed many of Abby's friends in an attempt to avenge Joel. Ellie was simply trying to attack those who were involved in Joel's murder, in order to reach abby, his killer. The goal of the latter half of the game was to humanize Abby, the one dimensional shallow character who was created in order to illustrate that revenge is bad no matter what the circumstances. The only way this game will even be remotely redeemable is if they add a multi-player mode. It seems that the main goal of the last of us 2 was to create a story that was politically correct enough to appeal to video game journalists, not the diehard fans of the first game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not worth your time. I played the whole game till the very end. Gameplay 7/10 Nothing special but works solid.

Music 5/10 First games music was much better.

Environments 7/10 Some areas are awesome! Others look like a polished PS3 game. I thought it would be better.

Voice and Mocap 10/10 Can't fault it. Did a really good job there.

    And
Story 2/10 The worst part of this whole game. The writers think their writing is so clever. But the story is soo shallow. By the end of the game I didn't care if all the characters die. The final fight with Abby is just rubbish. The writers are trying to say this is deep and meaningful. It is just not. Characters are all really boring. Ellie is just a angry boring character. No depth. She throws little hissy fits through out the game. There are flash backs with Joel which don't land at all......because Joel is dead. It takes out all the character bonding. Joel was a idiot in this game. Wasn't anything like the first game. I'm not upset that Joel died, but how they did it. Enemies were boring. Nothing really new. The game just drags and drags on. It over stays it welcome by 10 hours.

    Would not recommend this game.

The Last of Us has long been a revered title, but the storytelling always did the heavy lifting. Providing interesting context to simplistic environmental puzzles and fairly standard third person action through an interesting dual character development arc and stunning graphics for the time was enough to embed it in the zeitgeist amongst other classic Playstation titles of its era. TheThe Last of Us has long been a revered title, but the storytelling always did the heavy lifting. Providing interesting context to simplistic environmental puzzles and fairly standard third person action through an interesting dual character development arc and stunning graphics for the time was enough to embed it in the zeitgeist amongst other classic Playstation titles of its era. The Last of Us 2 is The Last of Us, again, but this time without the environmental puzzles or competent storytelling. Smoother animations, slick cutscenes for embarrassingly uninteresting weapon upgrades, and a shiny new pass at Joel's facial hair can't hide the lack of innovation in mechanics, ever-present movement jank, and repetitive gameplay objectives. I am sick of conveniently somewhat-jammed doors blocking arena exits, reading nigh-dictative letters that no one would ever write, and listening to characters mindlessly chatter away while they investigate dangerous territory in a zombie apocalypse. I'm sick of enemies with infinite ammo weapons that magically either disappear when they're killed or suddenly only have two bullets left in them if they don't. I'm sick of flashbacks within flashbacks, and hearing the NPCs cry out when the fourth guy named 'Angel' is killed. The Last of Us 2's particular brand of faux-realism smacks of weak design requiring further iteration, which is a devastating notion given this game's long development cycle and near-identical nature to its predecessor. At its core, there is only highly-standard third-person shooting and two-button melee combat, with the addition of some mild stealth elements. It was done better before the first game's release, and it's been done better since, but the development team thought there was no need to improve upon any of these elements.

Thus far I've avoided directly talking about the story. I'll continue to do so, but I will address it in vagueries, because it's an important part of why this game doesn't work. After an inciting incident, and the conclusion to a shorter story arc, there is a twist that involves a perspective shift. This perspective shift is meant to humanize the antagonist in the game, and ultimately show that revenge is an endless cycle of unsatisfying victimization and pain. This shift occurs at the absolute peak of the audience's hatred for the antagonist character, at the moment when the revenge is about to be carried out. The story resets, and you are expected to grow to empathize with the antagonist, who carries out the initial incident over a misinterpretation of events of Seinfeldian proportions. You play again back until the climactic point in the story, which turns out to not be the true climax, and then you play again to another unsatisfying climax. This ass-backwards attempt at subversive storytelling results in a situation where I can imagine many people playing this game hoping for the death of their own player character. And yet, with each death comes a loading screen, as the story demands you take this character that you hate to the story's conclusion. Imagine the famous Call of Duty mission "No Russian", but for eight hours and you aren't a spy that gets betrayed. Hamfisted attempts at characterization and heartstring-pulling ensue, as they are necessary to try to win you over. Whether or not these work on you depend on how hypocritical you're willing to be about killing some people and saving others, because apparently killing for revenge is somehow worse than normal killing.

It's the same game again with prettier graphics, less to do, and less to care about. The twist this time is that there is no redeeming value, interesting character development, or satisfying conclusion to the story. This game will be a flashpoint of controversy for years to come, despite its critical praise and financial success, due to the politics surrounding the story, its creator's now infamous persona, and the breathtaking division that has been sown in the series' fanbase.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 years of waiting, and watching NO leaks because you wanted to enjoy the game at your own pace and at your own enjoyment.

So you get up in the morning, you’re brimming with excitement because the game you waited so long for is finally here. You pick up your pre order, you start the game and you’re discovering new characters and that’s fine because it’s TLOU universe. You start playing Joel and nostalgia fills your heart and you save a girl named Abby from some infected with your brother Tommy and you follow her to her safehouse and there, Abby shoots you in the leg and tortures you and bashes your head with a golf club. You die. 2 hours into the game.

And now you play as Ellie and they make you kill a dog, you are given no choice in this, and the same dog is playing with Abby. Manipulative much?

You play as Abby for a good 40% of the game, even if you are still angry at the character, you are forced to play her. You understand her journey, but you (my choice) still resent her for what she did to Joel. You are back as Ellie and you go on your journey of revenge and you set off killing people who are affiliated with Abby. In the end, you are made to fight Ellie as Abby and you are meant to hurt her, the beloved character you have grown so much to love.

The final moments of the game is Ellie letting Abby live, and “realising” that revenge is bad and they we should break the circle. Well how about the other people Ellie killed along the way? There is no lesson in this game. There was no need for this game to “teach us” something. The game was depression.

The dynamic father-daughter relationship that all of us fans grew to love can still only be experienced in the first installment. If you're looking for that same high, or if Joel was the character you identified with, this is not the game for you. The game was deceptively marketed (knowingly according to Druckmann). Subversion for the sake of subversion isnt good storytelling. The designers clearly wanted to make a statement to fetch a reaction out of the audience rather than to satisfy customers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As someone who managed to avoid all the leaks online and go into this not as a huge fan of the previous game but still excited to see where the story would pick up and the direction it would go even I was disappointed and can only feel sorry for the long time hardcore fans of the game who were waiting years for this.

I don’t want this be entirely negative, The art teams have done an amazing job from the way the world looks and feels, the music and even the gameplay feels improved upon which I was very happy to see I was honestly expecting the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality but they actually tweaked it and added new features to gameplay which really improved upon the first game. These are honesty the only reason why I can give this game any score at all and while the job they did was phenomenal the main part of a game and the main reason for the low score is the poor story line.

I have no problems with them killing off Joel in fact I was even caught off guard and excited to see how Ellie and the other characters like Tommy would react and with their emotions, I was even hoping to see more development into Ellie the DLC and even the first trailer for the game showed more emphasis on her sexuality and in a infected destroyed world I would have loved to see more of the struggle she faces and deals with them growing as I played more. But that didn’t seem to really happen the character growth of this game was a major let down especially compared to the first one where we get to see from the very beginning of joe and Ellie to where they end up. Abby felt so forced and boring that at parts of the game I was so bored of the story I was just rushing through to finish as quick as possible. The last few cutscenes I ended up treating like Netflix by replying to texts on my phone instead of being fully immersed in the game and invested as I was TLOU. I’m not saying don’t buy the game or play it, but honestly watch some gameplay or a review from someone you may often find yourself agreeing with first and see their opinions you may enjoy this game and if you do I’m honestly jealous but don’t just buy this game expecting it to live up to be an amazing sequel because chances are it won’t

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes I played the entire game. No I didn't see the spoilers or reviews before making an opinion.
The gorgeous graphics and ambiance couldn't save this drowning mess of a game if you tossed it a life line.
In my brutally honest opinion no respectable gamer or legit LOU fan would ever give this steaming hot garbage a 10/10 review. You couldn’t pay me enough to write lies like that especially to a follow-up to the 2013 masterpiece.
Based on the teaser trailer I think we all guessed correctly that Joel’s life would be cut short. "Live by the sword die by the sword" has always been a good mantra for these apocalyptic games. It makes sense as a drive for Ellie to go on the journey she does and it’s what gave me the initial boost of aggravation to seek revenge on the new character, Abby (who looks like a knockoff of Ronda Rousey). However any good writer should know that you can't kill a beloved pivotal character so quickly in a 30hr game only to turn around and force you play the killer in a cheap gimmick to make you sympathize with their logic for their actions. Joel isn't the type to give shady strangers personal info freely either so that was idiotic. I didn't buy into that lazy Abby plot twist at all and it was painful to slog through the latter half of the game with an unlikable character. To make matters worse Ellie has lost her charm and biting wit too so when playing her it felt I wasn't really playing the "real" Ellie if that makes sense.
Since you play Ellie's version of events prior, you know Abby's efforts will result in the same outcome therefore playing Abby was intensely boring and made me even angrier.
The first LOU had me on the edge of my seat and compelled me to play hours and hours straight just to find out what happened in the next chapter, but this sequel felt like a slog and chore. I had to actually step away from the game many times due to repetitive tasks and unnecessarily long action sequences in between too many cinematic cut scenes which I NEVER had to do with the first game. To me that's a huge sign that Naughty Dog failed miserably.
The tiny bright story moments were the flashback scenes with Ellie, Joel and Tommy. In fact if they had just released a game with nothing but flashbacks it would've been far better.
The new infected are ok and the dialogue and reactions of the human enemies was a nice improvement. Besides that it was a nose dive into hell. Especially when you're forced to kill dogs in a terribly brutal way.
Then there's the awkward love triangles that didn't make me like/dislike anyone they were forcing down my throat to sympathize/hate with. Jessie was just basically a sperm donor who could've been killed much earlier in the game and it wouldn't have effected much else. They should've paid more attention to the many plot holes instead which were GIANT.
Now to the rest of the new characters! Lev is a trans cult member. Since when do dystopian people have the time to give a flying rat's butt about trans issues when they're too busy starving to death or trying to survive blood thirsty gangs and infected? No one, that's who, and it's a non-dystopian problem. In fact if you remove Lev and that side story and just focused on his sister/mother it would've sufficed for an excuse for Abby to visit their island base. The trans aspect added no value. Just empty calories. Also this quest overall is just poor filler to explain where Abby was during the events too. I bet Neil is patting his smug back for being such a great sjw and so are the reviewers for praising it.
Then there's Dina. Dina has the depth of a puddle. She is Ellie's love interest and eventual "partner in crime". Her character felt hollow and had no endearing moments that made me think "Gee she's so cool and awesome like Ellie. I really want her to live through this." In fact the awkward unnecessary sex scene in a pot farm operation was what tipped me over the edge for really disliking where the direction of the game was taking me. Abby's graphic sex scene was even worse. Since when did LOU need this to progress the plot? Last I checked this wasn't Game Of Thrones even though it sucks like season 8. I can't stress this enough that the plot is atrocious anyway, but it was like Neil purposely hired an immature hack writer that had college fantasies living through characters of this game.
The epilogue was dragged to an inch of it's miserable life where I was left thinking "Ok this must be the LAST cut scene it's gotta be! For the love of God make it stop". 10 merciless cut scenes later....I was scrambling through my purse for the receipt in hopes to get a refund, which I did the next day and put that credit towards Cyberpunk.
7 years. SEVEN YEARS to make this the most epic return and they squandered it.
I'm going to try and erase this insulting stain from my memory.
*bell ring* SHAME Naughty Dog and *intense bell ring* SHAME on you Neil! SHAME!!

OMG no what I am going to be as brutally honest, if you want to play a game with good graphics and do not care about the storyline then play this game. I AM A STORY GAME person so when I played this game I WAS ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED AT WHAT NAUGHTY DOG WAS THINKING. The way my GUY JOEL MAY HE RIP WAS KILLED WAS BEYOND STUPID AND INFURIATING. we all know very well that Joel was a smart badass man he would never reveal his location nor say his name knowing how many people he had crossed. Also, the misleading trailers were not helpful at all like really, I know they were like ''do not want to spoil'' but they could have easily used all the flashbacks as footage. Moreover, how could you show a 2-4 min trailer about a character that WE WERE GOING TO PLAY 10 HOURS AS (felt longer)? The first game was just amazing the story was written to a perfect t I even thought y did they carry on they should have left it there. The whole entire 25-hour game is pretty much made to hunt down ABBY, so when the ending came the only thing gamers were holding onto was when knowing Joel died at the hands of ABBY soo obvi when we don't kill ABBY I was like ''WHAT THE HELL' haha that is exactly what I said. Its not even that, its the fact Ellie is left with absolutely nothing, that made me think wow the disrespect to both characters I was shook. So what else can Ellie's character now go off of? The game obviously wants you to like Abby, but what did they expect when you kill him off like that and fans have been waiting 7 YEARS. Abby saves kids hugs dogs while Ellie kills a pregnant woman and hurts dogs like I was heartbroken. I am not going to lie the graphics are amazing but the story is just terrible. A whole 7 years man I am actually so sad. How low do we get sex scenes really, the first story was about a loving relationship about Joel and Ellie, yes I know at one point Joel had to die but not like this like really we got to that level. I also wanted facts about Ellie's immunity the facts behind it and all that cool stuff but NO. I hope Naughty dog can redeem from this I really have NO CLUE HOW but overall the game was a letdown. And that is my opinion well I hope anyone that reads this understands and has a good day. But I have to say the voice actors are only doing their job so I do not blame them.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. No começo parece malhação. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A lot of the bad reviews are just mad people that didn't play the game. I played the game, and it's not about LGBT or SJW. The writing in this game is one of the worst writings in history, the character development, the situations, the editing, everything is just BAD, really BAD. The gameplay's ok, graphics are just amazing, animations are hands down the best in the market, but no one plays this game for that. The plot is just cheap, the characters are just dumb, they didn't respect the first game at all. The Abby story is just there for the sake of being there, she doesn't have something to say, they forced a purpose with the Scars, all the Hospital part to save someone she just met just to see her die after in a crappy cinematic, it's just sad, sad to see how the developer doesn't even care of what they made you go through just to kill a character that didn't even have to be saved in the beginning, it's just BAD, BAD. I was so disconnected with the main plot that I didn't even think the sniper was Tommy when it was so obvious, and it's the only time you connect something, and it's for nothing and has no sense, Manny being there, Tommy being there, you being there. Everything in this game happens because it needs to happen to move the plot forward. It's lazy, bad, and disrespectful. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game was honestly so boring and disappointing that I had to stop playing halfway in, then looked up the ending online. Can't say I missed anything. Going through repetitive gameplay mechanics, just for an obvious and underwhelming ending you can see coming from a mile away, just wasn't worth it. The graphics will make you awe for an hour or so, then it loses its magic.

The first game had a DLC that was ten times more satisfying when it comes to a cute relationship, this one just felt like teen soap opera with an annoying amount of GOT style deaths. Almost everyone felt empty and out-of-character except Tommy, and I couldn't feel even a single grain of sympathy for Abby throughout the whole game, in fact I just wanted her to die. I don't care what kinda sob story she has, she was irredeemable after what she had done in the first hour of the game.

I am disappointed, and sad. So much potential has been wasted simply due to bad writing and deceitful marketing.

In the original Last of Us, I felt so immersed in the story, and it made the gameplay feel like it had a meaning. This game is attempting to pander to a social justice audience to such an extreme. It's as if they sacrificed the game and the following they created to the altar of political correctness. They make it seem like there's a trans person around every corner. The LGBTQIn the original Last of Us, I felt so immersed in the story, and it made the gameplay feel like it had a meaning. They make it seem like there's a trans person around every corner. The LGBTQ community is far over-represented in this **** game. The story was so awful that i quit playing and probably would have to be exremely bored to return to it. You can tell these devs are living in some sort of twitter world where social justice rules all, and facts be damned. They probably think pee pee gate is real and Brett Kavanaugh is a serial rapist. I love Uncharted, and I loved Last of Us, but this is trash. I want my money back. Sell me a fun game, don't sell me your political agenda. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all let me start by saying the graphics and the overall sound of the game are the best we have ever seen. The story and gameplay compared to the brilliant part 1 are really bad. If you played the first one you probably love Joel and Ellie. The relationship between the two was slowly build up in the first one. Then came part 2... Joel gets brutally murdered and from that point the game was ruined for me. They expect us to sympathise with Abby the woman that killed to beloved Joel. I can't do this. I don't care for her or what happened in her past. The revenge plot is similar to that of a B movie. But then halfway through the game you have to play as Abby to try and like her. This is were I really didn't care about the game. I stopped searching for collectibles and overall exploration for me wasn't worth it anymore. The ending left a sour taste in my mouth because Ellie lost everything in this game and Abby got to walk away. They went with this approach and they failed misserably Joel and Ellie will forever be the true heroes in the last of us no one else. For me they butchered the last of us and I will try to forget that this game exists. I would happily another 60 euro's to play a better part 2 but I know that this will never happen. They should have made a game instead of making it a politically correct message. That you play as a lesbian wasnt the issue because I don't care what your sexual preference is. For me it is all normal. Expand

The level of detail in the world is insane. Graphics are next level. Combat is greatly improved from the first game. All of this is tainted by awful storytelling. By the end of the game you will wonder why you played.

Joel flashbacks and Ellie and Dina relationship is the only good thing about this game. It has a bad ending wit a poor message and boring characters, it tries too hard to extract some empathy from the player, and in my case it fails miserably.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
