    Brilliant, sets new bar in the craft from graphics to gameplay to performances, doesn’t quite match the brilliance of the first but still undeniably an amazing work.

    1st off, the mainstream critics like Tassi and company are crying. Which is ironic considering the mainstream had this 10/10 and gamers were supposed to believe that rather than the more practical reviews coming in that are unfavorable from real gamers. The graphics are great, but what is that without a compelling story? Nothing, an empty game. Tons of violence ok, but there's no1st off, the mainstream critics like Tassi and company are crying. Which is ironic considering the mainstream had this 10/10 and gamers were supposed to believe that rather than the more practical reviews coming in that are unfavorable from real gamers. The graphics are great, but what is that without a compelling story? Nothing, an empty game. Tons of violence ok, but there's no logic in the journey nor any of the deaths, nothing that holds weight. Of course Tassi and company say 'prepare for critics being out of touch" blah blah. He prefaces that statement because he knows that is the truth. Mainstream critics just try to protect their review copies and nothing more, even if a mainstream critic didn't get a copy they'd tip toe around critical reviews or come to the defense of the game in some way, acting as a neutral savior. Mainstream critics are like the government, you can't trust them, its up to the people to see the truth for what it is, decide for themselves and not forget all the propaganda that came before it. I have loved ND games, but this one falls way short of the magic that studio should be capable of, even expected of. TLU could be a series game that follows the value of Ellie's immunity and the complexity of her Joel's relationship while being hunted by those who want Ellie, and those who just want to do harm. Evolve the clickers, try to make a home in the world. Have some decision making moments like RDR2. Give a more powerful story with substance, make deaths meaningful. No one is mad at this game because of homophobia, that's just propaganda by mainstream critics to pander to the feet of Sony and ND. No, users are mad because regardless of the fate of the characters, there was no point to the story, no power. When the game ends you're glad, disappointed and kind of just feel robbed of the magic of the 1st game. Are some reviews bombing sure, but guess what? The same can be said about the mainstream critics reviews glorifying the game too, remember that. It cuts both ways. Decide for yourself and speak up.… Expand

Убийство главного героя - Джоэла привело меня в ужас, но когда я стал играть дальше эти чувства пропали, меня заинтересовала судьба уже новой героини, которая так беспечно, беременной, отправилась на помощь Элли. Суть игры на самом деле это не месть как многие считают. Это сильная эмоциональная драмма. В ходе всего сюжета характер Элли очень сильно меняется и в конце концов она прощает Эбби, понимая, что убив ее она ничего не получит. Игра демонстрирует пример того, как желание мести приводит к большим потерям. Так, Эбигейл после убийства Джоэла потеряла себя, ведь ее цель жизни была месть за отца, но свершив ее девушка попала в заблуждение. Но больше всего в игре тронул финал и сцены с воспоминаниями. Может быть Элли все таки осознала смысл жизни и нашла в этом мире себя? Ну смело можно сказать, что девочка увидела в Эбби Джоэла. Очень смелый и сильный поступок разработчиков. Респект.

    В игре есть множество интересных событий, а мир апокалипсиса отображен так красиво и чётко, что при его изучении аж мурашки по коже. Да, есть некоторые неприятные сюжетные моменты, но пройдя игру до конца можно смело поставить 9/10.

    Я не понимаю критику этой игры другими игроками. Многие ее критикуют даже не пройдя этот шедевр на 30% приводя одни и те же аргументы, которые, порой, звучат ужасно глупо.

    Uno de los juegos que más he disfrutado jugar desde hace mucho tiempo, el juego te atrapa desde los primero minutos, creo que capacidad narrativa y su nivel de detalle son perfectos, hablando de la banda Sonora jel juegos cumple hasta a los más exigentes gustos, ya que tiene la facilidad de sumergirte en una atmósfera de miedo, de presiones, de estrés con sólo cambiar los sonidos.

    The game has very nice graphics and character animations, but the story and ending are absolutely horrific. TLOU 2 literally spits in the face of its predecessor and throws away everything fans liked about the story of the first game.

    This Game is a absolute Masterpiece, with Amazing Graphics, Gameplay, Animations, Cinematics, Story, Writing and Characters. The Greatest Game I've ever played and It is Defiantly my Game of the year.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only way I can describe this game is bitterly disappointing!! I was a huge fan of the first game and had high hopes for the sequel, however unfortunately any potential that the game had was wasted due to various plot holes, a woeful story and some characters who despite there potential are never fleshed out and therefore it's extremely difficult to gain any kind of significant connection to them.

    The game does have a number of positives. It is visually and audibly stunning, Naughty Dog has again raised the bar in this respect. The level design is great and despite it being linear there are still plenty of options to get around and make it a somewhat unique experience in certain areas.

    Unfortunately this positives are simply not enough to overcome some significant short comings. Firstly Joel's death. I have no issue with Joel dying however the way in which he died is pure idiocy, Joel and Tommy are two seasoned veterans of this world who have survived almost a quarter of a century in this post apocalyptic chaos and understand that trusting people can get you killed. So they conveniently become naive idiots solely for the purpose of story progression it makes no sense whatsoever!!

    Dina and Jesse are two characters with significant potential, however neither are ever really fleshed out as much as needed so much of that potential goes to waste.

    Then onto the second half of the game. You are made to play as the character who bludgeoned a beloved character to death for TEN hours Who throughout the game has shown almost psychopathic tendencies. During this phase it's intended for the player to develop empathy and a connection to Abby however this just doesn't happen due to the lacklustre story line, awful story telling and a cast of characters who are either painfully dull or ridiculously unlikeable with the only exception being Lev who sadly comes across as an Ellie type figure from the first game to allow Abby to have some weird Joel type journey of discovery just without any of the charm of Joel and Ellie's made made it great. Also in this section the attempted emotional manipulation of the player with the use of cheap tricks becomes evident. Doing everything possible to paint Abby as a compassionate person whilst trying to guilt grip you for action undertaken as Ellie that you had zero choice but do. These tricks are cheap and don't have the effect the developers where hoping for.

    Finally the ending of the game is a got mess. The message that revenge is bad and somebody has to end the circle of violence. This fails completely when both playable characters where largely guided by the need for vengeance and the one who took revenge got away free to start a new life with Lev. Whilst the person who ended the cycle and did the "right thing" ended up with no one and nothing left and is now facing her biggest fear of ending up alone. The hypocrisy here is utterly baffling and undermines the entire message the developers wanted to spread.

    I can see the idea of what they were trying to pull off however it was so shambolically put together it landed a million miles wide of the mark. That added with the fact that everything that made the first game the beloved masterpiece that it is and the characters as iconic as they are has been dismantled to the point that the only really significant character remaining from the first game is now a shadow the character we had such a connection with. I can safely say that there will be no additional play-throughs of this game.    … Expand

I've never played a game in the living room that caught the attention of everyone in my house who would sit down through this journey with me.     As a HUGE Naughty Dog fan it's really difficult to review this game, especially where it's so easy to spoil the experience for fans still wanting to the play the game, hung up on fear this game could taint how they felt about the first game. But, as history has repeatedly shown, every empire must soon fall.

    GRAPHICALLY give Naughty Dog a piece of hardware and they'll wow you, their artists and programmers are talented and know what they're doing and Naughty Dog should take pride in that. They know how to pull off some pretty tricky stuff and you can tell--like every title previous--Naughty Dog takes what they've learned from previous games and culminate it altogether for something spectacular. They're constantly learning and growing. Their animation team deserves a metal or a trophy, or a hug, or something because they always pull it off. But, The Last of Us Part II (TLoUII) just doesn't have that wow factor that blows you away unlike TLoU where you thought the PS3 had totally been maxed out only to find ND still had one final rabbit to pull out of their hat. This game is beautiful, but I thought of 'Until Dawn' a lot while playing this and really well lit areas seemed lazy with really washed out colors and you ask what happened? There's still a lot of pop in as well and some characters models just don't seem quite ND. Honestly, even though this game runs at 1440p, possibly 4K checkerboard, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End at 1080p still is more impressive.

    SOUND is world class! Voice acting performances are stellar. The soundtrack opens, carries, and closes the game masterfully. The 'Eye for An Eye' track playing during encounters had me feeling like I was playing a John Carpenter movie with some Hans Zimmer. The OPTIONS MENU lets you tinker with sound settings to get he optimal experience, these guys--honestly--are the stars of this game. Ashley Johnson's performance of "A Poor Wayfairing Stranger" however--while brave and a valiant effort--would indicate she needs to stick to acting and not pursue a career in music, it wasn't horrific, but wasn't great. Sound department ultimately in the end wins this with a perfect 10.

    GAMEPLAY is exactly what you'd expect, really. Its more of the same with a little hint of Uncharted. Crafting is a key part of this game and upgrading all of your weapons. It's all here. The supplements aspect of the game was weird this time though. Environments are much more spacious which is both to the benefit and detriment of the gameplay. When I play TLoU, I don't play it like Uncharted or Gears of War, it's not a run-and-gun game, it's Metal Gear Solid. It's stealth and carefully working your way around to quietly eliminate your enemies and get out or explore to find this games some 300 hidden items, the problem is, this game get's cheap in that department. I had to restart encounters over and over again to play the game the way it should be played because the AI would send two guys right after me from the get go and I'd get caught and have to run and hide or just start over. 5000 characters just isn't enough to fully cover gameplay but it's flawed this go around. The dog aspect is neat and trying to get through that but, in some ways it felt like I was playing Uncharted with wave after wave of enemies. Finally, the game, due to the story is really bloated, a 15-20 hour experience (I didn't time myself) but it was way too long. I'd say the ND team had been playing Devil May Cry 4 a lot while developing this game.

    STORY. As most have said, can TLoU stand alone without Part II? Absolutely. It's just an expansion to the story of Ellie as an adult. You're not missing out on anything by not playing it. The story is really long though, you're bored at several long points during the game. I spent so much time running around areas as well trying to find items that it distracted me from the goal of what ND was trying to do and that was tell and impactful story but I had to collect items. I didn't have so much of an issue with one major plot point most gamers did, I think it was actually a good move in creating a new story to adventure through but I--personally--wasn't happy with ND's personal agenda this time through. Is the game divisive? Yeah, it is. It's a violent game but so was the first one, this shouldn't be a surprise. But the whole gay pride and pushing that agenda seemed pretty lame. At least in TLoU Bill's character was subtle, that was the way to do it right. There's just not enough characters to write a descent review for this. It's an okay game in the end, just not a ND masterpiece as previous games.    … Expand

    27 hours of game play which I wish I could relive. It's a beautiful, dark, complicated and amazing story which I'm.sure everyone will enjoy.

Not a good game, the gameplay is exactly the same as the original, which was never that different or unique in comparison to other games to begin with, the story was trash as disappointing, and the graphics honestly don’t look any better the the remake of the first one on the ps4, there is no reason to buy this over priced nonsense, you’d be better off replaying the old one, or any other zombie game you like. And yes, most of the rumors you heard about the game before launch were true. Supposedly that one character isn’t trans, but my god, that’s a man baby! 0/10 would not recommend, to anyone, it’s like all those terrible Disney classic sequels that no one asked for.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I genuinely thought about giving it a 0 score, but the game actually serves its purpose of entertaining, since the mechanics, gameplay, graphics and the feeling of survival is well presented.

    However, the disappointment is huge on the story, since Naughty Dog didn't just killed one of the most loved videogame characters in the last decade, but they literally spat on his corpse, not to mention that they forced us to play the second half of the game as a character we don't care about at all, and to top it, they want us to empathize with her and almost kill Ellie just because.
    Of course, this was a game about vengeance, so it doesn't make any sense that Ellie forgives Abby in the end, since she already lost Dina, her integrity and killed hundreds just to stop over a dumb flashback.

    They made a wonderful story in the first game, but this sequel is just a joke and craps on everything good this series had.

    Wanted to give a 8 but gave a 10 because of all of the fake negative scores. The gameplay, was truly impressive and I'm really satisfied with all of the mechanics. And TLoU II achieved that while remained loyal to the original game.
    But why a 8? In my opinion, the end of the story was a bit too long. Every time you expect the game to get near its end, just    Just finished the game.

    Other than the gameplay, graphics, and environments, TLOU2 is a downgrade from the first. It attempts to subvert expectations in the worst way possible, and adds bland, one dimensional characters to fight alongside you as you make your way through the game. Extremely disappointed. If you loved the first and haven't yet bought the second, I'd suggest waiting for a sale.

    Seeing everyone's opinions I began to reflect and change my perspective. Well ND made it clear that in this franchise things are not like that! So I congratulate him for that dared daring that made us all suffer equally, the game must be seen with great maturity to understand it and it is true ... It leaves you a clear message that revenge is never good and they put us at the feet of the two protagonists and we realize that they lost everything because of it. Engaging their loved ones and taking them to death when they did not deserve it. That is why ellie reflects and lets her live and that is where they show us the last scene of ellie and joel where she is also a part that broke me a lot because Joel affirms that if God had given him another chance to do so, he would have done the same, it is a sign of the love he has for ellie. It is where ellie reflects and leaves us the clear message of why he forgave her. It makes me very sad how ellie saw joel die when they no longer had any contact .. As ellie in the first installment confesses that her only fear is to be alone and in this installment it happens (although I still believe that she was heading to jackson for a second chance) Because I return to the same thing, she leaves us the message that revenge will never It is good and I have a lot of intrigue that it will be hers, hopefully soon they will show it to us ..     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to wait until I played the game to offer my opinion. I wish there were more of that here, as there are definitely some great things in this game.


    The Great: The acting in this game is astoundingly good! Everyone who played a part here absolutely nailed it. The visuals are also absolutely stunning. Besides the amazing look and feel of the game, there are tons of awesome details and Easter eggs and give this world a life of its own. Big ups to the designers and actors who brought these characters and world to life. The accessibility features in this game set a new bar for the industry and deserve some serious praise. I hope this becomes the new standard. The work in these areas is beyond excellent! The inclusive cast of characters definitely deserves mention. I loved it in the first game and love it here as well!


    The Good: The soundtrack is very good. The sound designers and musicians responsible for the audio in this game should be lauded. The atmosphere created here is really nice. I found myself closing my eyes just to listen at times. I also like a few of the gameplay tweaks like the consumable shivs going away. Not having to scrounge for blades made me feel like the combat was more realistic in some ways. While I feel this led to some repetitive actions, that was only due to my desire to be efficient. It's certainly possible to play this game with a more action oriented feel.


    The Bad: The story in this game is lacking to put it mildly. As a huge fan of the first game (I've played it through at least a half dozen times), I was disappointed to see characters act against their core nature as laid out for them before this release. It's possible someone can change, but I don't think that anyone could justify one of Joel's decisions in particular, or the flip flopping of Tommy and Ellie repeatedly throughout the game. The new secondary characters, with exception of Dina, feel flat and I didn't find myself with much reason to care about them. The secondary player character, Abby, is so close to being great that it's frustrating she wasn't. In what felt like putting the cart before the horse, we're asked to try to empathize with her and get to know her after she commits some horrific acts. This becomes impossible when she repeatedly does more horrible things without a hint of remorse. Maybe this is intentional, as we see Ellie react in horror at her own actions quite often. Abby wasn't likable because she is hateful and possibly psychotic. Kudos to Laura Bailey, seriously! She made me hate this character, which I think was the point. In a game that is linear and story driven, the disappointing story hits hard in regards to my score. I had a hard time finishing it, and only did so out of love for several of the actors involved and because I'd already spent the money. I regret that decision, as the ending made me feel like the writers were laughing at me while making a rude gesture. I feel like a few tweaks to the order of events in the game could really make it better, and make that ending feel less like a slap and more like a moment for introspection. Pacing was odd, and I don't see myself going for another playthrough.


    The Unacceptable: I counted at least 3 flat out lies told pre-release by the developers of this game during my playthrough. I think it's ok to say nothing at all rather than set expectations based on blatant lies. One of these lies in particular made me want to stop playing the game altogether. I never would have spent a cent on a game that forces me to kill a dog in order to progress. Besides being incredibly triggered by that moment, I'm frankly disgusted and disturbed by that lie itself. The embargo on reviews that led me to spend money on this game is insulting. It would be like asking someone to review the Star Wars films based only on their lightsaber battles. Then, the tactics Sony used to censor anyone talking about it pre-release feel ethically disgusting.


    The Result:
    I will be wary to play Naughty Dog games in the future, shame on them for lying to me. I will definitely follow these actors and some designers to enjoy their next projects.    … Expand

    The choices in the story can be judged but all the effort that is spent for this gamed shouldn’t be rated that low.
    When the game finishes , it should give us. A screen on which we can rate game and comment.dozens of youtube watchers or bandwagons underrated that game.

    The gameplay was great for the most part but some of it felt clunky. The stealth was great, and being able to both crouch and crawl to escape and sneak up on enemies was one of the game’s best mechanics. Cracking the safes were fun mini games too; you were really rewarded for exploring the world! However, the hearing vision took too long to come up which caused me to avoid using it much, and having to press a button to open/close the crafting window during combat caused me to miss a few opportunities. Having to mash square all the time quickly became repetitive, it would have been nice to see games make more use of the touch pad in those situations. Every quick time event was “mash square”, with the respite of holding triangle to open doors. It got old fast. Also the hand to hand combat (mash square plus dodging) was a bit naff, it would have been nice if there were a few more mechanics there.

    Graphics: 10/10
    The graphics were excellent, probably the best I’ve seen on a console. The environment was beautiful and fitted the world perfectly; it all looked so real! I only had a couple of glitches throughout the entire game. Only two or three times the clicker didn’t render in a death cutscene, and again only twice the environment disappeared for less than a second; but the first time it happened I was trying to find where my companion went, who was visible when the world disappeared, so I think “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature” fitted there.. the second time it happened was just a glitch though. But still the graphics were pretty much perfect so 10/10!

    Narrative: 5/10
    The story beats let the game down. Some moments have become controversial due to their poor execution and neglect the fans to favour shocking scenes. The pacing felt off and sometimes the cutscenes weren’t interesting enough to make the battle feel worth while, especially during the second half. The letters and notes hidden around had the best writing in the game though. It could have been much better, but overall It was interesting enough to keep me going until the end. The game was spoiled for me before I played it so it didn’t have as much of an impact on me as it perhaps could have.

    Experience: 7/10
    The world felt like a harsh realistic zombie apocalypse and the game did that well considering the graphics and the base world story (the original last of us world helped here). However, the narrative negatively impacted it; I didn’t always understand the character motivations for certain actions, some didn’t seem very realistic. Also I often didn’t know where to go, which was annoying and broke my immersion, but still, I guess that did seem realistic because the character wouldn’t know where to go in a new area they they haven’t been before. I wish it had made more use of background music, there was very little; although being able to play the guitar was fun for me.

    Conclusion:
    The game had a different feel to the original, but I’m not too bothered by that in terms of it as a stand-alone game. However, I would have preferred the sequel to the generally consider masterpiece “the last of us” to have taken a different route story-wise, but the game still has its merits. 7.5/10    … Expand

Weapons and items are deep enough for a third person adventure game. The dogs are as annoying of an enemy as dogs should be, with Resident Evil setting that standard decades ago. Actually, Resident Evil is a better comparison enemy wise than Uncharted and depending on your preference of difficulty in a story driven game that is good or bad. My problem with this game isn't the gameplay. This gameplay in another game would have warranted at least a 5 on its own. However, this is a sequel to one of the best games in the entire catalog of Sony's First Party titles. That prestige was earned on the writing and acting of the first game and this game just doesn't come close to that masterpiece. The worst part, it appears to be a conscious choice. A choice to push shock and awe, political issues, gender issues, and sexuality over a well written narrative. Honestly some of the best fiction in history used these and others to create a story that has been loved by millions for decades. The difference is the medium of video games. Video games require more commitment and immersion than any other entertainment out there and that nuance was ignored when the decision was made to be so abrasive with the story.
    I remember the greatest hoax in gaming history, MGS 2: Sons of Liberty. Kojima released the first two hours of gameplay months in advanced and his fan base spent hours if not days replaying the demo. We knew every inch of that tanker, every guard patrol, every hidden girly mag and poster. We were so hyped to see what happened to Snake after the tanker sank...only to spend the rest of the game playing a completely new character. What we didn't know at the time, or eve for years later, was the Tanker was the last time we played Snake in his prime. The future of the series was spent playing Big Boss, a weird clone hybrid, and Old Man Snake. Never again were we the elite veteran Solid Snake at the top of his game. Fast forward to Last of Us II. What should have been the biggest hoax in gaming ended up being a slog of gut-wrenching scenes followed by agenda driven plot and at the end we are left with those we hate alive and whole and those we loved dead or maimed. I just can’t get behind that. I play game series for character development and to return to beloved worlds. The Last of Us II spent the entirety of the game ensuring I never want to return to its world and causing me to wish the story stopped at the end of the first game. The Last of us was the first game to make me actually tear up and I actually felt emotionally invested into the world of Joel and Ellie. TLOU2 Does not do that. Bad dialogue. Bad writing. Uninteresting characters they really all feel like they are just there for a paycheck and that’s it. Forced villain. Then naughty dog forces us to play as her. Killing main characters and then never mentioned again. I felt nothing when anyone ever died. If it wasn’t for the combat and the graphics then I would have popped my disk out and stopped shortly after Joel died. They tried to Villainize Joel. The gore and deaths were shock value nothing of meaning. I really did enjoy the moments with Lev and Abby. But it was constant bad thing after bad thing happening to everyone, in the first game there was that light in all the darkness. There was smiles and charm, it felt good. Here it’s all violence and just horrible things with nothing light at all. And then that final fight between Abby and Ellie I thought I had her. After everything it would pay off. Nah chief. Ellie let’s her walk. Ellie has lost two fingers. Her Girlfriend and her baby. Has lost friends. Has lost Joel. She lost Her whole life to abby. Yet she lets her get up and leave, what a joke. When I was playing as Abby I purposely kill myself just so I could see this girl die, then I’d laugh and be like “soon lol” boy was I wrong. I have never felt more disrespected by a company then I do now with naughty dog. I thought EA was bad but I guess that apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. At the end of the day i feel this was a mindless cash grab with no real value. Hey, they took my money didn’t they.… Expand

The story though gripping and emotional at time it wasn’t quite as good as the first game that being said TLOU2 is still a great game. The characters both new and old are great and the game play benefits from some subtle but much needed improvement. El juego es bueno, los gráficos, la inteligencia artificial, las armas, habilidades, etc son muy buenos, pero eliminar a uno de los personajes más importantes de la saga le quita mucho valor a la historia, le quita un cierto encanto, de igual manera la historia es buena, no es mala, pero no es como la del primer juego, le hace falta ese Joel del primer juego, igual manera el juego tiene alguna que otra cosilla que puede justarte o no, las animaciones, sonidos etc son muy buenos, la banda sonora en general es buena, pero si no hubieran eliminado al personaje principal tendría un diez de mi parte, no lo he podido acabar, pero de igual manera lo estoy disfrutando mucho y recomiendo que le den una oportunidad, no se dejen llevar por las críticas, es muy buen juego...… Expand

    The equivalent of paying 60 dollars for someone to punch you in the gut and spit in your face. A soulless game that hates its players, its characters, everything about it just oozes hate, absolutely no love was put into it. The gameplay is mediocre as it's a glorified movie at its core. Do not buy this.

    I completed the game and am playing it again. I liked the first game but I didn't fall in love with it. In fact, I prefer this game to the first and is one of the best games I have ever played. I agree with the critics giving this game a 95/100. I genuinely give this game a 10/10.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Best believe I gave up time that I could have spent with my girl to play this game but it wasn’t worth it one bit.

    The LGBT narrative was pushed too much to try and make the player think we are the enemy of anyone who is LGBT and should be reformed and I was really offended by that.

    Killing Joel was a big let down as I felt naughty dog made him into the enemy and that he deserved to die for his actions.

    I could go on further but this franchise has set the records for the best and worst games of all time and that’s a record not many can replicate.    … Expand

    I am huge fan of 1st part. Nice story it and game play. I do not want 2nd part, cause story was completed.
    But as a fan of first I decided to give a chance for 2nd part. What can I say.. It is **** waste of time. Mechanics of game is OK. But plot and characters are disaster. I want to play for normal guys, I like when women is a women and men's are men's. Not **** Trans.. Or smth else..

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just beat the game today. I feel so sad. I feel so depressed. I feel miserable. I feel like there’s a whole in my chest. Rely on the reviews played by actual people who’s played the game. I’ve been thinking about this game for the past couple days playing it. I’m still processing the game. There’s a difference between a bad game and a game you don’t like. It’s not a bad game. It’s a game I don’t like (not like terrible) but because it’s so miserable. It was meant to be like that. It was meant to made you feel. I feel like I was on a roller coaster of feels while playing this game. No game has ever made me feel like that. It’s not perfect. It’s a game you aren’t meant to like. I’m still processing the ending. I feel very incomplete. I’ve seen a lot of people say the ending isn’t what they wanted and I totally understand that. There’s a loop of getting revenge, losing things, going back out and getting revenge and losing more. There was a cycle and Ellie finally broke the cycle. But at what cost? I want to be happy for her because she grew as a character but I can’t because she lost everything. Lost everything to get to where she was.
    Abby’s part of things: I never liked her. Ellie’s part of things at the beginning was perfect. A perfect 10/10 but when we played as Abby I lost interest. I didn’t like her. The tie in was kinda cool. The fact that you shot someone random in the first game turned out to have such a HUGE part in the next was cool. At the same time I didn’t care about her. They introduced her so early in the game killing our favorite character. I don’t know why they thought we’d like her or even care about her. I couldn’t sympathize with her. I understood her but I didn’t care. It was too long with her. You built such a strong connect with Joel and Ellie in the first and with Ellie in the second. You kill Joel at the start and play as Ellie for only a half of the game, I didn’t like that. I feel like a separate game with Abby would’ve been cool but don’t throw her into this game.
    With Joel it was tough. I understand a lot of people were mad with him dying so early, me included, the way he died. We didn’t get time to explore his and Ellie’s relationship and figure things out. It didn’t give Ellie time to mourn, to really understand what had happened. I would’ve liked to have seen that explored a lot more. His death could’ve been so much more. He was the hero of the last game and we lost him immediately.
    This was a sad, gloomy, miserable game. It scared me and depressed me. It was hard to play it for an extended period of time because it was so depressing. It was a great game. It was supposed to be a game you didn’t like. I would knock off a couple points for the Abby crap and killing Joel so early I’d give it a 7 or 7.5. But it’s the last of us so 8/10. Don’t listen to reviews. Play it on your own. Play it on your own time.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Look, the reality is this game is meant to make you uncomfortable, and I’m not talking about the violence. Many fans go in with a lot of love for these characters and want nothing bad to happen to them or see them in a negative light. NG could have easily given people what they wanted, but they didn’t want to give fans what they felt entitled to, but write the story THEY wanted with the characters THEY own. Everything is AAA, but how you react to it will ultimately be your choice. Most, if not all, the negative reviews that are legitimate and not bandwagoning a vendetta, are reactionary rather than an actual criticism of the games quality. If anything hating the story for how it made you feel is a completely predictable reaction. Like I have no doubt people at NG are smiling because they succeeded in telling the story the wanted and they know there would be some who came out of it feeling hopeless and others feeling like they just got off a rollercoaster.

    I am a rollercoaster rider. Always have been. I don’t play video games because I’m owed something by creators I play them for the same reason I read book, for the experience. Whatever that entails I’m always open to it. 5 years from now people will look back on this game and say it was wild and people will talk about it probably for decades.

    If you’re like me, just go in and let the story do what it’s gonna do. You can’t stop it, but you can choose to experience it without pettiness. It’s up to you. I hope we see more of these uncompromising visions in all media. The game has so much to offer if you let it.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
