This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Joel looks Tommy in the eyes while cleaning out a guitar, telling him of the events that unfolded in a hospital in which Ellie was supposed to undergo surgery. Consequently, it would have meant the cost of Ellie’s life in exchange for a cure. At least, this is the very first scene of The Last of Us: Part 2. “Jesus Christ Joel…what did you do?” Tommy asks. Tommy can only think of the past events that unfolded in Joel’s and Ellie’s quest, as questionable by stating later in the scene, “I can’t say I’d have done differently…”. Earlier Joel simply replies and reassures Tommy that “I saved her.”. Joel was caught between an extremely controversial decision that was eventually being controlled and manipulated by individuals who wanted to fix everything an infection has brought with it, ever since its emergence. Such examples of these individuals are the surgeon – Abby’s Father, the Fireflies leader – Marlene, and even Joel himself. However, Joel was the only person that really wanted to do right by her, by saving her from her inevitable doom. As a Father, this makes perfect sense if it were to be considered that Joel’s feelings for Ellie have grown to a level of that for a daughter. However, having completed part 2, it only seems that The Last of Us is the only significant story out of the duology that can be taken seriously because it was the only one the made absolute sense. The analysis has begun.
Yes, I am stating that The Last of Us: Part 2 does not make sense. Despite it being an amazingly directed, animated, and immersive story, it lacks real legitimate purpose, and proceeding events truly hurt the story’s foundation. Why is there even a part 2, to the happy ending story we had received in the first part? Or why did the events unfold the way they did…when realistically…it is plot immortality that was simply handed to some dead surgeon’s daughter – Abby. In self-defense for Joel and Ellie, Abby’s father was the one who killed himself for not allowing Joel to leave peacefully. Abby’s father was the one who stood in front of Joel with a knife, with intent to kill him. As a consequence, Joel Killed Abby’s Father….and this should’ve been the end of it in part 1. It appears at first that the story is going by smoothly, however, things take a sharp turn when the story is dropped off on Abby. The biggest problem with Abby is the immense amount of plot immortality she has been given. I am not sure why she even exists! It is a bit outrageous how she simply and miraculously runs into and is helped by Joel and Tommy. Her entire purpose was to find and kill Joel, but the fact that the plot just hands Joel over to Abby is ridiculous. This is the hugest blow The Last of Us: Part 2 takes to itself. This is primarily the reason why the story can not be taken seriously. Additionally, it counters the fact that Abby eventually stopped pursuing vengeance after several years have passed. She discusses this with Owen throughout one of the flashbacks she has in the story. So, even after all those years, it is a possibility to reconsider revenge…but at what cost? Abby took Joel’s life in exchange for all of her friends’ lives. It just comes to show that Abby has little to no real character development. She is selfish, and extremely naïve. How can she put all of her friends’ lives at risk by taking the life of an innocent man who was simply trying to save his “daughter’s” life? It is simple, she never took into consideration the immense amount of value Ellie had for Joel, and vice versa. She naively puts herself into Ellies position and states that she would’ve wanted her dad to conduct the surgery, even if it took her life. But this isn’t about Abby, nor her Father! This was about Joel and Ellie….and The Last of Us: Part 2 shoots itself in the foot by taking this crucial fact away. Afterall, Abby with her huge guns for muscles and immense amount of plot immortality is miraculously handed Joel’s life, and she seizes the opportunity and takes her long-desired vengeance. Overall, the story wasn’t fulfilling in any way. No real sense of justice was achieved. I have lost myself, my family, and my purpose. The Last of Us: Part 2 held little to no real significance when it came to provide a purposeful story. Despite its quality, in both gameplay and storytelling…storytelling is vital when giving purpose to a story as immersive as this. (Immersive because it is a videogame after all.) The creator/author of The Last of Us: Part 2 threw away all his foundational and meaningful storytelling…for an addition that took everything away from his creation. The Last of Us: Part 2 is definitely one of the most overrated videogames of 2020…and it breaks my heart realizing this.

It was an amazing game for me. I looked at it with an open mind and was rewarded in doing so; a little more needed to be added to the story, but other than that, it was amazing. In the future, I believe this game will become a cult classic, even though it seems the general public doesn’t agree.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My rating is not based on any anti-gay sentiment and to accredit it to that would be blasphemous. What isn't blasphemous is just how terribly written the story of this game is. You attempted to make a revenge/avenger sequel and ended up making a piece of **** mixed with a rainbow that will go down in history as the biggest example of a producer missing the mark with their audience. Why the SJWs at metacritic gave it an obnoxiously high score is beyond me; however, i think they were scared of negatively reviewing a game that had two same sex, gay female protagonists. This game is a hard pass unless you are playing it specifically for that reason Expand

This game is not only disrespectful to the first and it's respectable characters but the writing is just everywhere it feels at best like a fanfiction fever dream by Neil druckmann. To anyone who loveed the first game just like me I highly recommend not playing this as it will ruin not only your memories of the game but ruin the story. Start the game as normal in town you're the Talk of the Town because he kissed a girl and wow okay nothing to do with zombies nothing to do with the first story so let's let's get on with it secondly you leave leave Jackson a small community Town put together by Maria Joel's brother's wife. You leave to go on patrols which was pretty cool and makes sense you want to control around the whole surrounding area in case any infected get to close it quickly switches to this unlikeable character named Abby an overly muscular girl I think as they said they did not want to portray gender in this game for some reason which makes us scared to look really stupid and dumb and someone I wouldn't want to play as picture Jordan Vaughn Stranglehold from Fairly Odd Parents mixed with the likeness of the boy who played in the reboot in Rob Zombie's Halloween movie the whole reason of her story from what I can muster because I couldn't find myself to finish this game even though I know what happens is she's getting revenge for Joel killing her parents now there's nothing wrong with a good Revenge story but when you're playing as Ellie you go on a murderous Rampage and kill almost everyone except responsible except for Abby. As for the game play you'll hear a lot of positive feedback that's because they didn't change the formula which is amazing they did update the graphics and some mechanics which was also a change of pace but this proves that game play can't and will not be the only thing that drives the game I've been waiting and a lot of people have been waiting 7 years for this game only for Neil druckmann and naughty dog to s*** on us it is unbelievable I feel like this is a nightmare I encourage you guys definitely to watch more reviews Maybe on YouTube and see for yourself just do not play the game thank you. My resume after 5 hours of play: Lame history, bad gameplay, gorgeous exteriors, awful interiors.

The game feels severily dated in the gameplay. the skirmishes were heavily scripted, and the 'game' is 50% dated gameplay and 50% cinematics and walking around.

The first part of the title was a WAY BETTER game than this second part. skip if you can, or wait for a heavy discount.

You can’t complain about the revenge story being jammed down your throat if you’re also angry with the ending. Because if you do it means you didn’t understand the revenge story being told. The importance of the female centric story is immense. Female representation is one of the most important things to me when it comes to emerging narratives, and the representation this game provides is monumental. The first two hours of this game left me bawling, and there was never a point where i felt comfortable putting down the controller. I constantly felt the need to see what happens next.

I'd say TLOU2 definitely takes over as best LOOKING game of this generation, beating out even the likes of God of War, Red Dead 2, and Gears 5. But where the game falters is in its story and character development. First off, a lot of sections of the earlier parts of the game feel unnecessary and pointless, used to just pad out the playtime of the game. That's okay in some parts, but others just make it too obvious. Also, some of the strange choices made by Joel and Elle during this game makes you question how the hell they survived this long? They definitely seemed to show better judgment in the first game when it comes to who to trust. Also, a lot of parts of the game where you are put in the shoes of our new characters, Abby, to show us events from a different perspective. She actually has some pretty interesting sections and is kind of fun to play as, but there are obvious reasons during the game that makes players apprehensive to playing as Abby for the rest of the game after a specific moment in the first few hours of the game. Also, Elle seems to be a lot less "likeable" this time around because of her interactions with Joel and her choices in later sections of the game, specifically the ending conflicts. But I'm not going to over explain, if I were rating on gameplay and graphics alone, it would be a 10/10. But story and characters acting somewhat out of character, definitely pulls it down. My overall score is 7.5/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The mechanics of the game are very good as in the first, the inclusion of a jump button, in my opinion, is very useful, and the graphics are very good, they are the most polished in this instalment.
The story, in my opinion, is not excellent, but it is good, it serves to guide us to what Naughty Dog wants to tell us, well-argued and structured, although what happens in the end with Abby makes the path we forge in the game with Ellie be A waste, but perhaps it serves because Ellie sees that this is not the way to go to find what she wants, Joel's forgiveness; On the other hand, in Abby's part, inclusion is the least important, it serves the same argument, for better or for worse it works, the story at the beginning is a story of revenge on the part of Abby, after Abby's redemption and the revenge of Ellie, and in the end, it's Ellie's redemption and something else for Abby.
It is not at all like TLoU first part because here we no longer protect something, we do not look for hope, all that was left behind here we lost Joel, the one who in the first game was rude, the one for good or evil except Ellie from dying and He gave him a life to live, and Ellie in TLoU Part II realizes all that, wants it and wants everything that happened to be in the past, but with Joel's death, she realizes that she loved him so much that she didn't no matter what he did, he would go to the end of the world for him, and so part two is not the same as the first, because he develops more the character of an Ellie going through adolescence, having a different life than he had, to many they don't like the story and it's fine, but if you haven't played it, I invite you to do it, the criticisms are made by people who have the opportunity to do it, although some have played it, I bet there are many who haven't played or finished it to play and they criticize, that's the good thing about free will you can do what you want, s only that will you be willing?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While the last of us 2 has amazing graphics it fails to tell a great story. I did pre order this game and I ended up getting this game a day before it was released in the mail. My excitement was short lived. It was an extremely disappointing experience after finishing the game. It was hard to even on after the first 2 hours of playing. It's a far cry from the first game. The first game was not only visually stimulating but also gameplay was amazing and you fell in love with the story. There was so much development with the characters Ellie and Joel. It told a story that you invest yourself into. The last of us 2 did nothing of the sort. The character building was sadly missing. Where you thought that you would be able to play both characters that you so loved from the first one we were all sadly scammed. That's right, I said scammed into thinking we would get to explore Joel and Elle's relationship as they got older together. What they did to Joel was Savage. We all know that main characters die all the time but normally not in such an unsatisfactory way. It was like a f-you Joel you deserve an ugly death. It wasn't the fact that he died but the fact of how they did it. Abby's an extremely unlikable character. The game fails in making her relatable or likable. It forces you to play her after she has already clearly been designated as the villain in this story. It was basically torture having a play Abby through half of the game. You think eventually that she'll have some redeeming quality but it never happens. This game could have been amazing, it could have been great, it could have been epic but now it's just an epic fail. Granted if you hadn't had played the first game and grown to love Joel and Elle and how they are together, this one wouldn't be that bad of a game. It's still not that good of a standalone game though. I waited for this game for a long time and it was definitely disappointing. If I could get my money back I would. It is a nice idea, but there is one problem:
3rd point is ABSOLUTE, COMPLETE FAILURE, and instead of this you just feel contradiction, dissonance, that developers and critics deceived you. And considering bothering gameplay, with the minimum character development and poor story this is definitely ZERO out of 1000.
The only reason developers made their money is because of respect and hopes from the 1st part. What a pity

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not perfect, but despite pacing flaws, the game being a little overlong and some other nitpicks. It's a fantastic follow up both in game play design and story, expanding upon previously established characters brilliantly and introduces new compelling characters, both minor and major that make this game world feel so much more fleshed out and alive. Regarding the game play, if you've played the first game, you'll fit right back in and if you haven't (which you should), it's an over the shoulder first person shooter reminiscent of the RE2 remake. The game however also has a focus on stealth and scavenging and all three of these core components of game play work with each other brilliantly, creating a fluid combat system that keeps every fight engaging. With the addition of long grass and the ability to go prone creating a lot more room to approach encounters in different ways. With being stealthy not feeling tedious like most games fail do but instead feeling fun and satisfying. Another fantastic addition is the subtle personalities of enemies. While fighting people they will yell the names of fallen comrades once they are shot or scream in pain after an arm or leg has been shot, this makes the world feel so much more real. Switching the enemies from just mindless bots to actual people with personalities and feeling and this improves the game immensely, this being a trait in major villains as well as just casual enemies. Finally regarding design, the graphics and sound design are phenomenal. This game may be the best looking game out there with certain environments, especially ones in nature looking photo realistic. The sound design is also great with ambient sounds and the tense combat soundtrack really adding to the games overall emotion. The rest of this review will concern spoilers. So if you haven't played this game please do and keep an open mind. There are many negative reviews but I implore that you play it for yourself.

    SPOILERS
This game has some major events in the story that haven't been received well by the vast majority of the community, the three parts I'll be talking about are Joel's death, playing as Abby and the ending. First we have Joel's death, personally I think this death was handled perfectly. Though many argue that Joel would've seen the ambush coming, due to him seeing one coming in the first game, the context surrounding these scenes are completely different. In the first game Joel knows about the ambush because he himself says that he had done that exact same tactic of ambush before. The game actually dedicates a huge character moment in the first game where he says how he used to perform that ambush on other people. In the scenario in this game, the characters in the lodge (excluding Abby who gives no reason to make her distrustful at this point to Joel, Tommy and the player) are not aware who Joel is. It's only when he says his name that there is any suspicion but he is shot in the leg and disarmed before he even has a chance to defend himself. As well as that, the game makes it clear through the dialogue that going to the lodge is the only choice, with the storm being too strong to go anywhere else, and with the infected pursuing them in such high numbers, they can't go anywhere else. Calling this death a betrayal of Joel's character is just flat out wrong. It's fine if you're upset about this, I was too, but don't judge the game poorly for something it didn't do. Secondly, the intention of segments where you play as Abby have been misjudged entirely. The point of these sections is not to make her likeable or sympathetic, they're to make her an actual person. The point of these scenes is to show that senseless killing Joel did in that hospital actually mattered, that killing a doctor simply trying to find a cure had consequences and that Joel's choice to save Ellie actually had repercussions. Naughty Dog aren't stupid, they know you aren't going to like Abby after she killed Joel, they aren't trying to, they're trying to show that villains in this story more complex than just good and bad, like in the real world. Which as a game that is meant to be realistic makes sense. Finally, the ending, people were mad that Ellie doesn't get to kill Abby because according to those who hate this ending, without Abby's death, Joel's death was pointless. While also stating that Ellie after killing all those soldiers should have no problem killing Abby. People has misinterpreted the ending entirely. hat moment when Ellie spares Abby, she’s thinking of how Joel said that he does not regret his actions that lead to his death, and that he would always save Ellie over himself. She let’s Abby go because she knows that Joel would be happy regardless of whether he lived or died, or whether Ellie killed Abby or not because Ellie getting out of that hospital and being able to live her life is all that mattered to him. It’s a beautiful ending if you stop and think about it.

Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After a few hours in this game it’s exactly what I expected. A lot of the combat and controls feel recycled and marginally improved if at all. The graphics are a step up, but the gameplay feels monotonous. There are strange mini-games and constant swapping between characters which kind of feels out of place.

Beyond the gameplay comes a feeling of forced inclusion as the story rips apart everything that the first game built up. The beautiful strong character dynamics shared by Ellie and Joel is destroyed in this game (literally). Only to be replaced by seemingly forced indoctrination into an LGBT community where transsexual, and homosexual ideals take center stage. Even to include an extremely perverse scene of sexual intercourse between two males. This game serves no purpose beyond pushing an agenda and destroying the legacy of an amazing game. I recommend you avoid at all costs.

It's pretty simple--the game is excessively well thought out and is excellent. People who are bombing it either have a bigoted side, or cannot handle having to digest something that isn't what they wanted. Neil crafts a story that forces you to look at this world through several perspectives, and many would rather have a heroic gore fest. This game is very timely in the face of that.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel people are being unfair to this game. I’ll start with what I don’t like. I don’t like the sections that you play as Abby. It’s not that they’re poorly written, I’m just uninterested in her life and finding out her backstory does not give me any remorse for her. It’s a sad world and bad things happen to good people. Although I do understand why she would be so upset, it doesn’t make me want to brutalize her and her friends any less. I don’t want to play as the villain who’s done such brutal things to characters that I love. I think some people are upset cause you play as a play lesbian. I don’t think everyone who dislikes the game is homophobic, I just think that if it were a man and a woman no one would bat an eye at it. I hear a lot of people saying things like , “I don’t mind that they’re lesbian I just don’t like that a gaming platform is being used for politics. “. To me that means that deep down you don’t like that they’re lesbian even if you don’t want to admit it. I’m also seeing people saying that this game is too dark. In the first game your daughter gets murdered in your arms, you almost get eaten by cannibals, and you doom the human race. I think people just aren’t used to see the characters they love die in such brutal ways and I agree it was awful. That’s what makes the game so compelling. I’ve been watching reviews online too and I can almost guarantee some of these guys haven’t finished the game so their opinion is really invalid, but they get to go online and trash it anyways. All the rest looked like they were afraid to say what they actually thought about the terrible writing, baseless lies that were blatantly told to the public from Druckmann using a beloved character, and using big words pulled out of the thesaurus to not really give an opinion. So let me take my "passionate" feelings as Niel snarked about fans upset about the backlash with the game flooding this site with poor reviews and say my own. I am only giving this game a 2 and not a 0 because of the people who did actually work hard on the game and deserve to be given credit where credit is due. Everything else doesn't really deserve the praise its getting, this is 2020, we are about to go into next gen with the PS5 and XBOX X soon so boasting about "Amazing Graphics!", or "Really Fluid Gameplay!" and "Amazing Battle Mechanics!" mean literally almost nothing at this point in games, those things are expected and done just as good if not better by so many companies nowadays. What we as gamers pay 60-100 dollars for is an amazing story or an experience that we can walk away from when we are done thinking we got our moneys worth...yeah that didn't happen, not even close, I've paid 20 bucks or less for games I enjoyed more than The Last Of Us Part II, this entire franchise is bread and buttered by its narrative, but almost the entire time I was playing it all it did was make me pissed off, not want to play it anymore, or swear I am never buying another game from Naughty Dog ever again. The fact that I felt even one of those things is just beyond sad truthfully, especially following the first game and how amazing it was. If the people making this game cared even for a second about the world they had created, the journey you go on to become a family, make these connections and not about making money and trying to be edgy by putting in a "tasteful" scene which was anything but that and really just made Sony look like a hypocrite, we would have seen another out of the park home run game, but now after playing this I'm just checking twitter every few days to see people change there "story" about how this game really is or see that Niel was forced to take responsibility and let go; for his PR BS-a-thon he went on about so many lies we got told, most of which have been proven like the remapped characters that were teased to have larger rolls :/ Expand

    "Attention to detail"
    • To put the activated Molotov cocktail in the bag is strong!
    • The crossbow is stronger than the bow, but the bow kills with a single blow, the crossbow does not.
    • Use arrows from a corpse? You're kidding!
    • To craft the ammo? No problem!! To craft the arrows? What are you doing? (Abby)
    • I see arrows in the quiver of a dead NPC but I can't pick them up!
    • The invisible ally runs in the face of the enemy, all right.
    • The weapon does not jam or jam after water, moisture, dust, dirt! Perfectly!
    • There are no weapon parts in the car under the hood or in the trunk ? O_O
    • Feed your horses for a 3-day trip to Seattle? Much cooler to throw a ball to a dog!
    * Once activated, the generator runs forever
    • Special forces against knives!
    • You never will never fit through a huge gap that any human being could fit through!
    • Of course, not one car in a hundred has a drop of gas, and I have to go to a basement full of monsters!
    • Of course, my backpack won't hold more than two rounds of pistol ammo! But the flamethrower will fit perfectly!
    • Crawling through the ventilation system? It will break and you will fall-always.
    • Explore - > Shoot - > Talk, and that's it.
    • Containers are the engine of gameplay! Have you played portal games? What are you complaining about?
    • Team-killing with your partner in agreement? Huh? Are you in call of duty?
    • Using your own Pets by special forces (abby) - why?!
    • Living in a strict religious family, where disobedience can be punished without thinking, begins to shake the rights, because she is a boy? Are you serious? at 10 years old? Do you have children? (how dare I, right?)
    • The sect lives on an island, why don't we control the coast to isolate them from the mainland? What for? we can just walk through the woods and die from their traps!
    • What is the essence of the sect (scars)? Maybe I should have made another third of the game about them? We are no longer interested, so why not learn their difficult fate?
    • Why are the problems of fungal people not solved? I want to know what gender they identify with!
    • Judging by the first scenes for Abby, she is very cool to her father. However, I spent a lot of time in training and fighting. Conclusion - the present of its environment it is the soldiers. However, when a sniper kills her friend in front of her, she just throws him into the water! (special forces can't swim what are you doing)Where was the Golf club?
    • The commander of the military special forces, releases a whole squad (15 people) in the winter, in an unknown territory with a large uncontrolled city, to kill the offender of ten years ago at one of the soldiers of the squad. They also went to kill every scar that killed the father/mother of any soldier? What happens to the game logic?
    • Joel from one standing on the road robber knows how to understand that this is an ambush, but the phrase "I have a lot of friends here" near the places of your patrol, where no one should be, does not cause any questions (with its kind of special forces especially)

    Some strange "details"

However, I sometimes don't understand some of Naughty Dog's decisions concerning the story. Most of the characters you learned to love in the first part are portrayed very shabby and evil. I also find the death of Joel, the protagonist from the first part right at the beginning, very sad and pitiful. I also didn't really need the Seattle days with Abby. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game had SO much potential but the story drags it down like an anchor. And no, it's not because of SJWs, like some other reviews claim. Yes, Ellie has a relationship with Dina (weird name choice), but other than a few seconds of awkward scenes, it's nothing out of any ordinary video game relationship. Why I and other fans are upset is because of the following:

    1) Joel, the hero who took Ellie 3,000 miles across the country while killing hundreds of infected and bandits, is killed in the most anti-climactic fashion possible, within 30 minutes of starting the game. He and Tommy SAVE Abby from certain death, she brings them back to her group of friends, then Joel and Tommy OPENLY give out their names to strangers (major plot hole #1). Abby then shoots him in the leg with a shotgun and beats him to death with a golf club, and here's why: In the first game in the last scene, Joel kills a doctor in Seattle who is pointing a scalpel at him trying to prevent Joel from taking Ellie away, saying "think of all the lives we'll save". That doctor turns out to be Abby's father.

    2) The new character additions, aside from Abby, have little to no backstory whatsoever and they don't feel important at all to the plot. When you start the game, you're introduced to the thriving survivor village in Jackson, Wyoming, and one of the first characters you meet is Jesse. He is present for only a small portion of the game, but helps you kill enemies as you progress through war-torn and infected areas and begins to grow on you, only to be suddenly and pathetically shot in the head by Abby as he's opening a door. On Abby's playthrough, she is about to be executed by the Seraphites along with an Asian girl named Yara until Yara's little brother Lev rescues them both. Yara has her forearm crushed by a Seraphite with a hammer and eventually needs amputation, but then she is shot dead just a few hours later by the WLF force invading the Seraphite island, so the story has you pointlessly feel for her having her arm amputated only for her to die not much later anyway.

    3) There is a really awkward, meaningless sex scene with Abby and Owen after they spend 5 minutes arguing and then pushing each other. It's especially awkward because of Abby's super masculine build that makes Owen look like a twig. The brief sex scene with Ellie and Dina at least had some depth and story development behind it, whereas the Abby and Owen scene literally means nothing at all to the plot.

    4) This game's ENTIRE theme is "Revenge only leads to more suffering" in both the main story and side story with the WLFs and Seraphites, and it's constantly hammered over and over again in an effort to show moral ambiguity. After the Seattle story concludes, Ellie and Dina are on a farm seemingly somewhere in Wyoming or Montana, they get a visit from Tommy (who is shot in the side of the head by Abby right after Jesse, except he survives because plot armor), and Tommy tells Ellie he knows where Abby went. Dina tells Tommy they're done pursuing her and Tommy throws a fit saying "Well I can't go!". To me, it's not believable at all that a 40/50 year old man would hold an 18 year-old girl accountable for exacting revenge on his brother's killer. Just days later, after saying "I can't" to Tommy, Ellie packs up and tells Dina she needs to find and kill Abby for her own peace. She travels from Wyoming to California, killing more infected and bandits along the way, infiltrates a huge bandit compound, kills dozens more bandits, finds Abby tied up to a pole on the beach (doesn't shoot her), cuts her down (doesn't shoot her), nearly allows her to escape before telling her "I can't let you go" (still doesn't shoot her), and, INSTEAD OF SHOOTING HER, like she had RESOLVED to do MONTHS ago, she says she wants Abby to FIGHT her. Prisoner Abby looks like a deflated beach ball and has none of her Brock Lesnar-esque muscle mass. They have a 5 minute fight before Ellie holds Abby's head underwater for 30 seconds, then decides she can't kill her because of plot reasons. Abby takes Lev and sails off, Ellie sits on the beach crying. Seemingly weeks or months later, Ellie returns to the farm where she and Dina had lived only to find Dina has left. Ellie then has a flashback of getting angry at Joel for not letting her die to develop a vaccine, says she will try to forgive him, and the game ends.

    5) Related to #4, the game more or less tells you that Ellie knew Joel was lying to her the whole time about what happened in Seattle until she makes him confess. If she was really set on dying so that a vaccine could be created, she could have gone back or worked with another surgeon in Wyoming. Either way, the game tries to make Joel look like a bad person for saving her life when 99% of fathers or father-figures would have done the same thing.

The game itself is worth a playthrough, but the story is incredibly poor compared to Part 1.

I actually finished the game, unlike the majority of these reviews. It was the best game I have ever played. I think the story was perfect and masterfully written. Don't listen to the hate, play it yourself and have an open mind.

Graphics are really good looking, some parts seem awkward graphically speaking. But the story is so horrible, the game is always been so story heavy and to make such an abomination of a stort and pissing and spitting on the fans. Just horrible. Pissing on the fans. If you love joel and elli, you will hate this. Even if you dont the feeling of the game is horrible has you go through the game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to voice my opinion, and I hope you respect. The reason people hate Abby because they never put themselves in her shoes and felt what she felt. Abby didn't knew the Joel we did and he did kill her father. We all loved Joel and never wanted to see him dead, but training and getting stronger for 4 years, Abby sought revenge against the killer of her father. Satisfied and feel accomplished? I dunno, maybe. Also there were so many similarities with Ellie and Abby. They both still had problems of their own. The complicated relationships. Ex-BF Owen, who was going to have a child with Mel, that complicated things and same thing with Ellie, Jessie and Nora. They both had someone they looked up to die (Joel and Jerry (Abby's father)). They had their second loved one died but was kinda dismissive (Jessie and Owen).

If any one of you in Abby's shoes, you too would hunt the killer of your parents. Also when Abby said good cutting Nora's throat, she said that because she thought Ellie killed Mel, who had a baby intentionally. But life as always plays, put Abby in a worse position when she and Lev had to starve for month and go weak.

When Ellie cut Abby down from a pole, seeing her so weak, that fear in her eyes, made me feel so so sad for her. I did feel empathy. I genuinely did.

However, since we started this journey with Joel and Ellie, I did not feel sympathy towards Abby and actually wanted her dead, until I saw her weak and in fear.

We all been there, the moment when Ellie holding the boat and sees a flashback of an image that casts a wrath up us and we do something really stupid, and that's what Ellie did and got her fingers bitten off by Abby.

Question stands: Where do we go from here? Abby will join the fireflies and will be scarred for life with Lev. Ellie will also be scarred for life and will go back and live in Jackson.

It was a good story, not perfect but good. I honestly felt the game was Game of thonesefied. . . ohh well, not everything we want is handed to us in perfect condition....

But.. then you get hit with useless characters and a story that makes Black Ops 3 Nightmares story look like a decent one. You don't end up caring about most of the characters that die because they barely appear for a few scenes, then get off-ed. If you just want gameplay, go right ahead, but many streamers and genuine reviewers of the game have said that it's the same game with a really sh*tty story. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
