This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great Graphics, huge advancement in gameplay for video games (played it through).

However, I cannot get over nor will I get over how BAD the storyline is.

I loved these characters and Last Of Us 1 is my favorite game of all time and I am OK with Joel dying in part 2, but the death was NOT earned at all. There is no way possible Joel's or Tommy's character would have given up information like that to COMPLETE strangers they just met nor would a character like Abby just flip out like that after being saved from Joel. Just bad all around writing from a company that is known for great writing.

This was not the game we wanted which is fine, but for god sakes it could have had at least interesting writing. Part 2 LACKS on every level the human aspect which made part 1 so good.

The whole game feels forced, not sure what they were thinking when they decided to release this game but it sucks. It feels like Naughty Dog just said F**k you to their entire fanbase.

Also, how this game was marketed was misleading as well.

I am done with the Last of Us and not looking forward to the HBO show and I am done with Naughty Dog games in general.

This game is visually great but the story and all the politics that are shoveled down your throat is a huge turnoff and really ruined the game they should of just made a new ip instead of ruining TLOU and don’t even get me started on how the game ends makes me feel like I wasted my time in the end with no pay off

Almost 70% of the game is spent with a new character only to empathize with that character, but also the game with that character becomes very repetitive.
The first was the best I played, but this 2 I regret I bought it out, this game is for about 30 dollars or less ... wait for the sales.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really can't describe how much of a joke this game turned out to be. Seven year wait with a lot of hype surrounding it. Everyone grew to love Joel and Ellie together, and their father/daughter relationship. Then after all these years you release it, the sequel to a truly great game. Within two hours Joel dies like a **** rat, nothing heroic, nothing smart, no sacrifice, just cold brutal ****

I think everyone knew that Joel was going to die at some point in the game, but within 2 hours of a twenty some hour game, damn. And they have the **** audacity to have us play as the **** who shot his leg with a shotgun, tortured him for several hours and then ending his life infront of Ellie with a **** golf club to the skull. That right there should have been where I stopped playing.

The slog fest that is the Abby(Joel killer) storyline lasts for 10+ hours, even if you rush it which you probably will do, since they **** ended Ellie's gameplay on a cliffhanger with Abby about to shoot her, after she has just came to kill Ellie. I can't even make this up, they force you to play Abby's storyline to make you humanize her, but all you can think about is Ellie and the **** cliffhanger. Like who in their right mind gives a flying **** about Abby after you see her beating the **** out of your favorite characters from the earlier game?

I want to wrap this up, since it's actually way too much stuff to be said. Basically Ellie moves away to a farm with Dina and her baby, far away from everything. She is suffering from PTSD and nightmares about Joel dying. So she sets out to find and kill Abby, again. You find her tied up and dying, you are also dying. You fight, she bites off two of your fingers, you hold her under water to drown her, but you don't kill her. She drives off in a boat with her kid to join fireflies and attempt to have a good life.

Ellie returns to the farm to find the house abandoned. Ellie sits down and plays on the guitar Joel gave her, it sounds like **** cause she misses to fingers, she puts it down, camera pans to window where we see Ellie walking into the horizon. Leaving the only thing she had after Joel died, music. She lost her **** girlfriend and Dina's kid, basically Ellie's kid, and **** Tabby is seemingly living her best life in a town of 200+ people. Roll credit. **** this game. DO NOT BUY IT

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a game this is above average. The game always gives the feeling that the world is inhabitant and the places visited feel "real". The story on the other hand always feels surreal, character making decisions they wouldn't have in the world of the previous one. The world has been in this state for 24 years. By now only those that have learned to survive, to be decisive and to be viscous, to be conserving and to be cautious are left, they are "the last of us".
In this game Joel and Ellie have already found a place to call their home, where they do not have to cautious around everybody and can let their guard down, but they are still aware of the rest of the world and what it means to be out there as they have experienced it for most of their lives, yet they make decisions that even in their rage and blood lust seem more than out of place than ever before.
This game has made the commitment to deconstruct Joel as much as possible and telling the player how awful he is or was, ignoring the end of the previous game telling us to decide for our selves.
In this game Joel is not portrayed as father who cared about Ellie but as a father paranoid about what would happen to her if people found out about her immunity. In the first one Joel and Ellie chose to not talk about her "condition" and frankly were prob indifferent if people found out. There mindsets have changed just to give players the impression that Ellie is uncomfortable around Joel.
This very much is the point i am most disappointed about and the reason i am unhappy about this game. Joel was a monster and nobody denied it, but that was what he needed to be to survive and at the end of the day he was a monster so Ellie could live, but naughty dog changed it from a Father doing anything to save his daughter to a lunatic that killed the last hope of humanity and is a bad father. The only line they delivered perfectly was when Joel was faced by Ellie and he said he would do it all over again.
    This score is for Joel.

You kill Joel and let someone spit on his dead body... thats nuts. I used to look forward to the cut scenes which were refreshing between all the killing. Now, playing LOU2 feels like my body is rejecting a long awaited transplant.

My viewpoint for this review is based on my "love" for the original. It was a truly beautiful, yet heart wrenching game that had so many nuanced motifs in almost every scene. The character development which had Joel (who just lost his daughter) and Ellie, who to begin with really did not like each other, develop that maternal bond. That is why the Last of Us was so successful, the story.

I've not yet completed The Last of Us 2, however I've wasted £50 and around 15 hours of my life on it. Things that I will never get back.

My only advice is; if the reason that you loved the first game so much is to do with the story, then this game is honestly a spit in the face. I'm at a loss for words...

    My only question is, why?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start I want to say clearly that this is NOT a review that targets naughty dog or other **** they are saying. if it was just harassment, I wouldn't write that many words into it and only say *** this game. But, it is my personal and sincere opinion on this game. First of all, I want to say that as a big fan of TLOU1, this sequel is a missed opportunity. it is clear purpose was NOT to make the player enjoys a game. it was clearly made to shove SJW ideology into our mouth.

people on the other side says that everyone who rates it low is homophobic. here I defend myself and all the others by saying that this is not what makes us HATE the game. if their idea was normal inside to context, I will say it's ok. but an entire game that focuses so much on the character's sexuality in a dangerous world were deaths are around every corner is ****.

More importantly, killing Joel in the most disrespectful way then force us to try to empathy the killer is just pure stupid. Don't get me wrong, I tried my best to give it a try. I truly tried to look through Abby eyes. but however i see it. i think she is just pure evil. trying to make her less evil by her being nice to dogs and trans kids haven't worked as they thought it will work. she and all her gangs are just unlikeable at all. I didn't care for anyone of them as much as I cared for Joel and Ellie. Then, he just kills Joel and makes Ellie lose everything in her life for a stupid typical un-complete revenge story.

One more note, in so much dangerous world, how can a 13 years kids think about his sexuality so much and believe that he needs to transform into a boy ?????? aggggh just make it believable that all I ask.

to be fair, the graphics and the gameplay was so damn good, no other game will beat that level of details. I don't think it is a 4.5 game at all. but, as a response to nail when he has given us a big finger by killing our most beloved character and spitting on it and destroying Ellie's character. I will give him this review as a return. The gaming industry depends on the player's opinion, so if he doesn't care about his audience, then he deserves what he gets.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow, where to start. I was anticipating this game for a very long time after the playing the first. Gutted.

The gameplay is painfully dull and more often than not pointless as everything interesting happens in very long cutscenes. It's not even worth talking about.

The 'moral' of the story is absolutely weak. Revenge isnt the right way? After being forced to kill every member of Abbys team, you leave her alive? The woman who murdered Joel? The reason for the entire story? There is no reason to make her seem 'good', she killed Joel in revenge and then acts like Ellie is stupid for trying to take revenge on her? The most interesting characters are killed off unceremoniously (Jessie, Joel, Mel, Owen) and for what? Nothing gets resolved? You might as well have made a film instead of a game, but then you couldn't charge £60 for it hey?

I dont mind Joel dying, although he deserved something less mundane. Some story elements were really well done, but sadly they were few and far between. There is 0 enjoyment in this game. Watch someone play it if you want to see the story, but god you aren't missing a thing by not spending a ridiculous amount of money on it.

If Naughty Dog says it's incredible the game lets you jump, that's not a good sign. Red Dead Redemption 2's gunplay looks amazing compared to this (by the way, if you want a good story, play that game instead). Overall, this game is garbage. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I found myself in a hole by the 20th-hour mark, the game in general had been kicking me in the stomach again and again in the perception of a higher form of art. In the COVID-pandemic era, where people are dealing with real emotionally turmoil and trauma, as the lack of social interaction and feeling of isolation continues, where we might find ourselves locked within our doors and preparing for a second-wave, this game is unnecessarily bleak and makes you feel as though no hope remains in the world.

The characters, unlikable, the story, illogical, the gameplay, boring. The fact that people are rating it so high is just because it tries something new and edgy and not based on actual merits. Good graphics are a traditional requirement, not something that justifies a 8 automatically. The gameplay has the AI and characters working in illogical ways, I literally had one character entire body jerk in a unnatural fashion because it got stuck on the side of a walkpath completely breaking the immersion. Joel was absolutely the best part of TLOU, with Elle a far second, and honestly this Joel deserves his fate, as his character is not consistent with his first game values. The needless vengeance cycle of a narrative is boring and uninteresting, especially considering one faction is 100 times more interesting than the other, and then try to make you care for both of them.

I did not finish the game, nor do I care too, I even spoiled the ending for myself because there was no drive any longer, I merely took a long breath, stood up from chair, and turned off my Console. That game will be deleted from my library, because even with context, that ending is far more insulting and showcases that they are too scared to double down on their own bleak world. To try and weasel out a happy ending when you went at lengths to paint a foreboding and unloved world to have it just 180 and scam out of us... no, the game should have ended roughly 90 minutes in, when you had certain characters meet their fate, they all should have had the same fate, because you established this bleak world, and that is what people would do to survive. You are such cowards Naughty Dog, you could not even stick to your own convictions.

I am going to give this a 3/10 because It has mediocre game-play and exceptional graphics, as that is what the benchmark should be for those two. But the lack of innovation, the narrative inconsistencies, the stupid mistakes characters make that go against everything they stood for as characters, I am going to pour a glass of whiskey for the legacy of the TLOU, because in my mind, them driving off into the sunset was the only ending to this video game series.

It is more comfortable to watch somewhere on youtube where you can skip all the dull moments. However, I would still see a lot of lazy writing, and gameplay does not make up for it. Game reviewers persuaded me to buy it. I feel like I was tricked into thinking that this game is much better than it is. The game is ok. However, I did not feel that it is an AAA game at all.

Saw the leaks, but decided to give the game a shot anyway in hopes the leaks were a mis-characterisation. But man do I regret my dicision.. Within 2 hours they kill off Joel in the worst way possible without earning it whatsoever, by a character know nothing about. And thats just the beginning. I stopped playing after 9 hours. What they did to Joel is DISGUSTING. The writing is so bad, that I actually had to pause multiple times because I was so frustrated. The whole game is pointless because Ellie doesn't even get her revenge. It's a slap to the face of the fans that have been waiting SEVEN YEARS and it makes me sick. Boring, repetitive gameplay. Poorly written story, filled with horrible characters. I would have given it a 5, but I'm docking two points for Sony and Naughty Dog's disgusting DMCA abuse, and the fact that the trailers straight up lied about what was in the game.

On the graphics side of things, it is amazing. I have found myself just spending some time around the post-apocalyptic maps exploring and just stopping to look at the scenery. The motion capture of the characters is gorgeous, The interfaces and fighting mechanics are satisfying and solid, but the NPCs can be a little off with how they react to melee weapons. Sadly this is where my review goes askew... The voice acting was rather bland, it felt laboured and not realistic enough. I am deeply disappointed in the shallow story of this title vs the previous. it's watered down, lacklustre and so far in my journey has left me annoyed. It's an R18+ rated title here in Australia. There are some brutal and confronting scenes in this game which invoked some pretty challenging feelings. While this is understandable from the game creators as an artistic work, it doesn't really have the intended effect and makes me feel like I'm being schooled in some sort of morality lesson perhaps? There are some outstanding plot holes, the dead story ends, and some plot points where you feel it may be important, but lead to nothing. I would have hoped that after the years of waiting, a decent progressive story would be the key binding element from the two titles, but alas this did not pan out.

If your as big a fan of the original as I am, you may find it difficult to appreciate this latest instalment.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you don't care about the story line you have to buy this game. As the beginning i want to say that it was obvious: second part had really small chances to jump over the first. I love all Naughty dogs games, pre-ordered new ones and bought copies of remastered after completing them on previous consoles. Watching the trailers and game play was preparing me for perfect AI, planning strategy and enjoy the adventure.
Creators succeed in some of that. AI still works weird, sometimes they hear my steps, in other situation they cannot see me face to face. Hope this will be fixed in future patches or in real life game level. Shooting is almost the same as in first part, not all enemies die after head shot, people are alive after shotgun shooting. Melee fighting is full of blood and violence, it's probably the best part which i liked in this game.
Stealth is not variable, the amount of bullets is really small again, it looks much more funny, when in some scenes and clips the amount of ammo is infinite.
Physics, optimization and graphics are awesome, i am not a specialist, but this game works in HDR 4K without freezes and lags, loading is super short comparing to Uncharted 4 for example.
Storytelling: I've got the main idea about violence forwards us to more violence and Elly decides that enough of that. That everybody is equal and we have to protect our private life and don't be shame of that. But Naughty dog, answer please, why you give me to play for steroid woman, who kills our favorite hero, who all game follows pretty guy, who doesn't want to be with her because of her mental sickness, she doesn't want kids, she doesn't want to be happy, she doesn't want to live peacefully, all her life is war and vengeance. Why the most dramatic moments are going around pregnant women? You are showing us strong independent girls, who anyway become women, with letter W. They need love and understanding, doesn't matter how they look like, they are following their basic instincts. Even after all this story of Abby, i didn't feel anything good about her, her father didn't want to give Elly a chance to live and any of us would do the same as Joel. Elly made friends to go far way away from home to payback and she stops after that, becomes mommy? Saving Abby's life after she felt bad all these years, seeing flashbacks, cannot sleep, with Dina? Are you serious?
I am disappointed and really sorry. Sorry for the creators of the first part. I was ready for the propaganda of feminism and lg bt, even about comparing/showing religion as some sect and showing how girl wants to become a boy, but writers destroyed our story, our love, which we felt about father and daughter. Tries of showing bad guys as good ones didn't succeed. Thanks for showing cuts with Joel, It was really strong. Thanks for the game, even after all my negative experience, it's still better than 90% of games today. You crushed one more second part in history of movies and gaming, after all these licks and how you act with your workers i give 3/10, because their work has been destroyed. ''I don't think i can ever forgive you for that. But i would like to try.'' You followed hype and your own wishes, instead of listening to the fans and ignoring our feelings, hope you will learn from this. If i knew what will be in the game, i won't buy it. I will not buy any story in this TLOU part II world, even DLC's.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 i bought the game played it so this is my honest review
so when i checked the reviews with no spoiler and even after i know about the leaks i was open minded to play the again. After the game is released which is 19 june 2020 around 12 am i started playing continously in 22 hours which takes two days this is what i am thinking after i finished the game and fyi i played the first part it was 9/10 for me sometimes the mechanics was grumpy in part 1
so last of us part 2 i dont know where to begin in 1 hour and 5o minutes my favourite character is dead so found my strength and anger to kill who is responsible is. The character development is 100% garbage why i am saying this hear me out why after joels death ellie who we are playing is hunting abby i was able to play with it i was commited to it but when you play as abby things turn around which is naughty dog trying so hard to make what abby did was right that is my basic conclusion
why i am saying this because you cannot play hero and villain thats how life works in real life you included in same game maybe a dlc but i dont think my opinion is changing even after that playing abby was like they are trying to prove a point most people would hate it because you are playing as villain here which you guys trying so hard to make what abby did was right there is no character development the only character development i see here is joel but he is dead in the start of the game ellie she is same for me but letting go abby even after everything you did to get to this point. The way i see its waste of time to play the game you letting go the killer who killed your father aka fatherly figure. For me the game ends after joel death other things happening are just collateral damage if she didnt go for revenge jesse will be alive , dina wouldnt leave ellie which she will at the end of the game, tommy would be with his wife. Like i said its collateral damage more people dying whom you know and the people are getting hurt whom you know. So playing as abby she is the real winner because she get what she wants but which cost her friends life which i dont care anyways. The people saying about lgbtq issue but i dont care about it anyways thats not issue for me only thing i liked about the game is graphics, gameplay which it didnt win over me except the stealth part crafting and the other stuff i felt its just the same like part 1. So people who are thinking of buying dont buy now wait for like 5 or 6 months cost will be way less just like death stranding thats wait for it thats how i bought and played for 15 bucks worth it kinda whoever played this game giving review like 10 out of 10 means mostly they are fake just think for a minute even after everything i played it do you ask me it was worth it i would say 40% percent because hereafter any game naughty dog releases i would wait for a while which i should have done in the first place for tlou 2 just out of curiosity i bought it and i am not happy about it

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am a huge fan of the Last of Us. Played and finished the first one like seven times which means I, like any other true fan built a bond, a relationship with Joel and Ellie. So, when the second game brutally destroyed Joel in front of Ellie, I accepted it in the beginning because it does build a strong story/plot. Where i changed my mind and did not agree on however, is when we had to play as Abby. The lady who killed Joel like he was thrash and especially in the end when Ellie let Abby go without killing her after the look that Joel gave Ellie right before Abby smashed his head in. How can a true fan just let that go. I honestly dont give a rats behind on what happened to Abbys dad nor do i care about any of her friends who had a part to do with Joels death, if it was up to me, kill them all. "You are pregnant?: BAM! You have a family? BAM! Awh you love each other, BAM! What i am saying is, i would have cared more about Abby and the group if all they did was beat Joel to a coma but he still lived, then the ending would have been wayyy more understanding and acceptable. Killing Joel was a huge dissapointment especially since we have to play Abby in the second act, all i know is i will never ever play this game again. Naughty dog basically ruined it for me. Now if they ever make another game, I will wait for the review rather than pre order it. I can never trust the company again to make a fair solid story. #justiceforJoelmiller #Joelslifematter Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off with the positive first. The graphics of this game is visually stunning and completely shows the full power of the Playstation 4. Gameplay is seamless and friendly. Melee combat is made easier with the dodge button although it is easily abused and takes the fun and tension during close encounters. Voice acting and motion capture is also great. It helps make the characters believable and real.

Now with the negative. The story is an absolute letdown compared to the first game. Killing off one of the main protagonists that players loved and doing it in a very disrespectful way. Players then take off in a mission for revenge and halfway throughout the story, the game forces you to take on the perspective of the killer just so it can desperately try to make you symphatize with her reasons and justify her actions.
Naughty Dog also seems to have a misguided belief that a long game would mean a great game. This is entirely false as the game is so exhaustingly dragged on to no end, making simple fetch quests into a long tiring gameplay where you constantly venture into buildings or bridges again and again and again. Making the trip to finish the game an absolute chore.

In the end, TLOU2 is a failed attempt to introduce a strong female character in a very generic revenge plot that feels like a completely different game slapped with a familiar title just so it would sell copies. It is a sad excuse of a sequel with no satisfying closure and should've spent more time in the drawing board.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of us 2 in my eyes is actually The Last of us 3 in my opinion because the actual sequel fans wanted started off with the Joel segment at the beginning of the game and the game we actually wanted took place in that 4 year time gap between the first game and the 2nd game. We always expected Joel to die at some point in the series but we expected it in the 3rd game or at least 10 hours into the sequel but instead he dies an hour into the game and because of that fans are pissed and to be honest I think Naughty Dog should go back and take their time and really put effort into writing the game that takes place in those 4 years and release that and call it The Last of us 2 then they should change this game to The Last of us 3 and update the ending to have two choices if you Decide to kill Abby and get your revenge you get the sad ending where Ellie is alone but if you let Abby go then Ellie gets the Happy ending and gets to be with Dina and in this game that takes place within that 4 years they could actually explore Abby's character and show that she actually cares about people and the only thing she's angry over and wants revenge for is because Joel killed her father it would also introduce the characters on Abby's side more dynamically so it doesn't feel like these characters popped up out of nowhere and also fans would get the sequel they wanted even though they might not like the way The Last of us 2 went and this would fix a lot of that at least I think it would. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game has incredible looks, the playability is awesome (even though some bugs), but i have too say that the story is most disappointing thing of the game. the story goes in a try-hard way, it pretends to be realistic but fails being to predictable and convenient. The trailer is a lie for the users because it showed that Joel would had a more interesting use in the plot. everyone though that Joel would join Ellie in the story, and probably would be killed in an advanced part of the story, but sadly you just looked for an easy, illogical and convenient situation to kill him in the beginning of the game. The game also fails introducing a lot of forgettable characters, that don't even have a good character development through the story. this make the game and story feel boring.
The end feels incredibly weird, it is confusing and not corresponding the plot of hate and revenge, there is no development of the character to tell there is a mind change, but Ellie in the whole game just tried to kill and take revenge, but not thinking about mercy.

It has great breathtaking visuals but that's it. Nonsensical character behavior. Joel would never give away his real name or have himself locked in a room with strangers! Besides why don't we have a choice at the end to kill or spare Abby? Why do I have to play as Joel's killer who I'd prefer to see dead after what she did. I understand from her perspective Joel was the devil himself. But after playing Joel for 15 hours in the first game, I simply don't give a damn about a random daughter of a random NPC that Joel shot. There's no way anyone would sympathize with Abby, no way. I give this game 3 stars for the visuals alone.

In the attempted process of asserting itself as a thesis on hate, this installment unfortunately only succeeds in displaying the shallower and all-too-familiar tenets of aggravating pacing and moral and emotional pedantry. The characters in this game (both new and old) morph jarringly from familiar and honest depictions of themselves into the clumsy caricatures into which Naughty Dog has shaped them; it seems not even the flawless performances by its triple-A cast could offset the disappointment of watching a beloved character act as though their scenes exist in a vacuum. The player is constantly subjected to the self-sabotaging efforts of the protagonists and antagonists alike, as each seemingly (but defensibly, given the pace of the game) forgets why they have made their own decisions. Here the studio suffers from the juvenile mistake of superimposing their priority of telling a story over the character's validity; the main characters all-too-frequently appear not as interesting players in an enthralling narrative, but more as commissioned actors under strict instruction to stick to a script that lacks focus or direction. Simultaneously, in a half-baked yet fully committed effort to elicit a response, the studio makes several bets with the player before investing exclusively on those least interesting among them: we are introduced to several original, intriguing subplots, only to be assigned exclusively to the one-dimensional and utterly unlikable main antagonist. The justifications for her exaggerated role in the story inevitably fall flat, resulting in the unanswerable questions of why such a cookie-cutter villain should take up so much of the story. There is simply not a satisfactory reason for the sustained presence of this character in this game.

The gameplay itself offers the most consistent alleviation of what is otherwise a flawed and dissatisfying experience. Several adaptations both major and minor were made to the already-solid control scheme and general layout of the preceding game, which make the combat encounters and exploration in this game feel much more thrilling, challenging, and realistic. The added maneuverability of being able to crawl, climb, and squeeze through tight spaces undoubtedly allows the player to experience much of the panicked, adrenaline-fueled momentum of the game's various skirmishes. Nevertheless, each perfectly-executed scene is tainted by the overhanging knowledge of how unrewarding the game is capable of being whenever there isn't anything to shoot at. Interlaced between what appear to be earnest attempts to ignore the tonal appeal of the series, the story occasionally delivers the promised peerless cinematic triumphs of which this game is clearly capable; when the script backs away from the opportunity to needlessly moralize and vapidly entertain to instead focus on the characters and how they would legitimately interact, the award-winning merits of the writers, actors, and animators shine through. Unfortunately, that ray of hope is too often strangled by the script's demands for misbegotten nonsense as opposed to thoughtful progression: if you are hoping for a cohesive narrative from this game, you are much better off sticking to the trailers.

If Naughty Dog had managed to tell a sensible, compelling story as a reward for the fans who have waited so long to hear it instead of prioritizing the cheap shock value this game is powered by, then the considerable improvements to gameplay as well as the depth of the emotional potential of the narrative would have made this the masterpiece that fans deserve. It is truly a shame that instead we have instead been distributed such a careless, disingenuous installment.

Druckmann is a laughing stock in his own company, so far as they even meme'd him in the game, and whoever put this moron in charge of a project this big should be ashamed of themselves. Keep patting yourselves on the back gaming industry and reviewers, anyone with half a brain can tell that the plot and pacing in this game is a complete TURD and no MUST PLAY rating is going to convince people otherwise. I was ok with Joel's death when it happened initially. I like a good revenge story and I can see what Naughty Dog was going for in that gruesome golfclub scene, but the plotline wasn't really delivered on. The ending left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like it was just for the sake of doing something different.

It's lost the magic of the first game for me. I'm just left asking why this one even exists. Like who is this for? because it doesn't feel like it's for the same people who enjoyed the first one.

I'm just bummed out. A waste of 60 bucks.

This game has so much potential but falls on its face more than anything I have ever seen. I'd like to list some pros for this game before I explain. The level design from a graphical standpoint and flow standpoint is incredible. The character models are amazing. Sound design is amazing, and finally, the controls and mechanics really do feel flawless. However, in a story-based game, all of those things don't matter if your story is a complete dumpster fire which this story is. Characters lack any sort of development. I literally don't care when anything happens to anyone, but Ellie. Every single one of them could die and it would not change how I felt about the game or them at all. The only time I feel any sort of emotion is in flashbacks because that's the only time I see any sort of character development at all. Otherwise, this game left me bored out of my mind. I found myself working through areas faster and faster just to get to the next cutscene in the hopes it would get somewhat better spoiler alert it does not. Most of the character development and good thought out story bits you're going to see are within the trading cards you can find throughout the map as collectibles and honestly, I'd rather read and collect all those than ever play this story again. The second issue I have with the game is with the ending I won't spoil it for anyone, but those of us that played the game understand how bad it truly is and I don't think that we would be having this discussion if it was at least a choice. However, it is not you are forced into the decision it makes, which I can guarantee is not the decision 95% of the player base would have made. The ending straight up feels like a slap in the face as you have worked the entire game for one goal and it makes all that work and effort useless. That's why I gave this game a 3/10, everything about the game is great except for the story which is a major issue in a story-based single player experience. To the team at Naughty Dog who worked on this game brushing up the mechanics, creating the environments, and working on the sound design you did an amazing job. To the team at Naughty Dog who wrote the story, I hope you never touch another project in your life. Just to reiterate this story is so poorly written that imagine if in Uncharted 4 instead of its ending Nathan gives up on his quest halfway through and goes home. That is basically how I felt after this story, honestly, I'd ask for a refund but at this point, I don't even care. I don't want to spend any more time thinking about this game, playing it, or writing about it; this is it. Finally, I am incredibly disgusted by the way Neil has handled the backlash. I'm aware this game has been review bombed but for those of us who actually played the game, his reaction to our criticisms seems like another blow to the gut. On Twitter, he's made jokes about the reviews and that's just a shame he can't admit to his own shortcomings and mistakes, but I really do expect nothing less from him as he's clearly shown he does not care about fans from the story he's written. That is why this game is a 3/10. I'd recommend never touching it, don't let it taint your opinion on the series like it did mine. Just know Ellie and Joel are out there surviving just like the end of The Last of Us and let it end there. Thank you for taking the time to read this large review I truly hope it helps some of you find peace knowing you're not alone in your thoughts even if the Games director will laugh in your face, and I hope those of you who have not purchased it now have some sense of the anger the community has felt and will think twice. I want a little logic, even though the game developers do not value the abby character (we can understand this by not showing abby in the game trailers by not showing the abby character on the game covers) , how can we think that the players love to be connected to the abby character. Instead of separating the characters for 3 and 3 days in the game, we should have played the ellie character in almost the whole game, it is really disappointing on the player side. Even if the game is a legend with its gameplay dynamics and many features, it deserved to get negative points with its story. Expand

So here is what I think: Pros: - gameplay - graphics - atmosphere - sound - music All those parts are undeniable very good. Its top notch. Sure the controls sometimes feel weird but they do in most of the games. It would be unfair to say this game isnt up to date in terms of all those points I mentioned. Cons: - story - character design - character development - plot holes So, even with all the pros this game is really really bad. It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isnt even the biggest thing about why its bad. The reason is: character development. If you kill one of the most beloved characters early in the game (Joel) and want to bring in new main playable characters like Abby, you HAVE to bring WAY more backstory in order to make the player feel with her. I mean she KILLED Joel! How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does that. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10minutes and then her dad is being killed. Thats it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she killed Joel? Hell no! That is weak story telling. Really really weak. Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning. This game is just bad. Do yourself a favor and dont buy it. The reviews the journalists wrote are either bought by Sony or ND or are heavily politicly influenced. Sad thing is: because of that same journalists will most likely make this game GOTY. What a joke. Safe your money and buy something else. And last but not least: this is technically a very good game but the story/characters is/are SO bad it just doesnt matter how well the rest is done. You want a good revenge story? Watch "Oldboy" then you know how to make a good revenge story that shocks everybody to their core. This game right here? Its garbage Expand

It completly betrays the fundamentals that made the first one so loved. Joel deserved better and then the fact you are being forced to play as his killer is horrible. This sees you forced play with characters you dont care about and honestly it was a chore to finish it.

Character "development" is horrible and story pacing is **** Plus it seems to try pushing a certain agenda with all the trans and gay characters in it.
