The story however is pretty bad. Fitting two stories in the span of one game makes everything seem rushed and fast paced, not allowing one to enjoy the game at all. Joel, an experienced survivor and fighter, got done in so easily I thought it was a joke.

    Could not finish the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is definitely worse than the first part. The reasons for this are really simple. First at all,
the story is horrible comparing the first part’s story to this.
The gameplay is exactly the same **** that part 1 had, without any difference almost. How the naughy dog was able to make us wait 7 years to deliver this crap experience where the **** Joel dies and the main character spends 26 hours of gameplay looking for revenge when the person who killed him had reasons for it. And damn it, I'm not even going to talk about the cringe knife battle that happens at the end of the game. Be ashamed. But apart from disadvantages there is a bright side too! Graphics and physics are very good actually.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game looks incredible, the game sounds incredible, the gameplay doesn’t fix what isn’t broken and the amount of accessibility settings is amazing but the story (which is clearly the most important thing) is simply put awful. There are so many stupid character decisions, Joel has been surviving in this world for a long time he should know better than to give his full name and location so easily to a group of strangers, the reveal that Abby was the one who convinced her dad that Ellie needed to die both completely ruins any attempts the game made to make you sympathise with her (even though the game does a horrible job at that and any success comes not from Abby being a likeable character but from the nostalgia of what made the first game a masterpiece), and Ellie literally spends the whole game murdering her way through a quest to get revenge on Abby for killing Joel only to decide to simply let her go to complete the “revenge bad” message of this game makes LITERALLY THE WHOLE GAME POINTLESS. Not to mention how the game tries to make you feel bad for the excessively violent things Ellie does to get to Abby but considering you don’t have a choice in the matter most of the time its just unfair. When i saw the leaks a few weeks ago, I could see the game’s story wasn’t going to be a good one but i thought “hey with the rest of the game i’m sure it’ll be better” and instead the context provided (and the things that weren’t leaked) somehow made it all even worse. We waited 7 years for this, The first game was so incredible I will never understand how Naughty Dog screwed up so badly all I know is that this game isn’t the worst thing to ever come out no where near it, but compared to the first game it’s such a disappointment. A good game got a sequel and I hoped the hate was fake and the critics could be trusted. But yet again, the critics were apparently paid off. Full disclosure, I took the time to make an account just to review this game, because it pissed me off that much. I won't review the game play mechanics, because they are largely unoriginal and a slight improvement to the first game, but I will talk about the story which is what we all were interested in anyways.

The story is awful. Without spoiling anything, let me explain why. The writing and dialogue isn't necessarily bad, but it certainly is mediocre. The issue is the premise of the story, a boring, angry story of revenge, revenge against good and bad people alike. It almost feels like the game wants to justify violence against good people the same way it wants to justify violence against bad people. Everyone is the same, looking for revenge and what you've done and who you are are irreverent factors. At the same time, the game is trying to teach you that violence is wrong, so it essentially accomplishes nothing because it is so confusing in its message.
A big issue for me, and I imagine a big issue for many others, is the way the characters themselves are handled. Joel retains his character from the last game fairly well, but not for long. (you'll see why if you play it.) Ellie, not so much. She feels like a totally different person in every way except for her devotion to Joel. Abby is complicated. I feel like they game wants you to think she is just like Joel, doing what she has to to protect her people. But she comes across as a villain instead. She is ugly both inside and out and it's hard to understand why she was written into the game the way she was because she is the worst part of the story.
The soul of the first game is entirely absent from this sequel. The characters are unrelatable, a major problem for a story game. It feels like quick cash grab and I didn't bother finishing it, but instead watched you tube videos of the cut scenes. I will probably seek a refund as soon as possible and I suggest you do too if you bought it.
In the end, I give this game a three, purely because the animators and voice actors deserve credit for a job well done. I give the animation and voice acting a solid 9/10. Unfortunately, their work was wasted by a story that I genuinely can think of nothing positive to say about, a story that effectively ruins the first game for me. I give the story a 0.5/10 (for the decent dialogue only)
Quick edit before I post this: The Metacritic server seems to be not allowing reviews to be posted for now, It crashes every time I try. Also, the positive and negative review ratio is fluctuating wildly probably meaning Metacritic is desperately deleting reviews. Well, I hope you see this review before they delete it and save yourself some money. Just watch the thing on YouTube, it’s been there for weeks anyways

The one thing I could say that I absolutely loved about this game is the scenery/graphics. This is hands down one of the the most beautiful games on PS4, right up there with Horizon Zero Dawn. The world feels natural, like nature is reclaiming the world in a slightly comforting way, and if it wasn't for all the murdering and zombies, It's a world I would love to be in myself.

And that is about the only good I can say about this game. The story. Good lord the story. I read the spoilers before I played it, so I knew what was going to happen, and that didn't bother me too much.. but the game itself is actually WORSE than the spoilers let me to believe. I want this to be a spoiler free review so I won't go into detail, but "that" scene happens much earlier than I thought, the plot seems stupid so far, and the characters aren't acting even remotely like they did in TLoU1, it's like they're not even the same people.

I'm just sorry, I knew this game was gonna be bad, I bought it anyway to give it a try.. I'm returning it tomorrow for a refund.. Another god-tier IP ruined by identity politics.

I'm only giving it a 3 because goddamn is it pretty, and the combat isn't horrible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This contains spoilers after the gameplay paragraph so read with caution. Starting of, you must be a real idiot in order to take one of the most iconic and famous franchises in gaming history and kill it. Just like that. I really believed that I'm a loser in life but a multimillion company managed to even surpass that, so I kind of thank them for that at this point.

With that said and into the game the graphics, physics, music and lighting is top notch. That was to be expected though based on the budget and time they had to develop the title. The world is well designed and you really get the feeling that you are in a post apocalyptic world, hostile and you have to be careful and thoughtful before you make your next move. The music and sounds are on the same level. The guns sound is totally on point , you can feel the direction of hostile voices are curses are coming from and in general music is atmospheric and dips you in the world of tlou2 pretty well.

The gameplay is the usual gameplay NaughtyDog introduced in the previous game (tlou1) and the known Uncharted games. You will get a lots of button mushing queues that you have to time correctly in order to escape many situations and "stealthy" approaches and gun ho fighting feels realistic and intense. Don't get me wrong though since the whole fighting thing is getting a bit repetitive and tiring after awhile. Sometimes the camera and controls feel wonky but that might be me, but in general is nothing to worry about.

Finally, into the plot. The game is a total garbage. There is no character development. Like at all. They are all out in a quest for revenge and that's it. While being vengeful cuz something went wrong with your life is one thing, but doing that without justifying any choices the main characters make in the game is mind boggling. To the point that all you see is violence and relentless killing. Don't take me wrong here, im all for violence and gore in games but in this case its just stupid. Ellie (I guess everyone's favorite) after being busy killing a **** ton of people in the finale she just lets her nemesis go. Just like that no **** given. There are other situations that Ellie doesn't act like Ellie we all know as well which made me wonder "why? why? why?". I don't play a 30 hours game to have more questions in the end than before playing it and have to struggle, in order to justify the time I sank in, to cover their plot holes? I mean come on. Joel on the other hand, a middle aged man now(supposed to be wiser than before), just walks into a room full of strangers and just tell them who he is. Obviously they didn't like it he ends up dead two hours in the game. Amazing. Finally we understand that hate brings hate and this was trying to be a sad game while the first game was about love. BUT the players need to feel connected to the characters, so this works. ND tried to shove this down our throats with no real effort, "good guy Joel" had to die so now we kill them all. That's the narrative. Even the new characters they introduced are indifferent.

All in all the plot made obvious that ND wants to get rid of your two favorite characters from the said post apocalyptic world they created. That is cuz they want to keep the world and milk it as much as they can with future games, but they don't have anything left in their brain to write about these two. They want to take your money by giving you plain and simple games without much work.

Finally i want to talk about the huge difference in user score and critic reviews. People you need to wake up. Don't support the people and magazines who wrote the reviews. They are all of them fake and disgusting to the point that they try to manipulate us for clicks, views and money. Say no more. Vote with your clicks , your comments and your wallet.

Personally I regret buying this game. I gave it a 3 for the effort of the people who designed the world the animations and composed the music. The rest literally is worth a zero. So don't buy this game even if you love the franchise. Time for ND to take a lesson. They escaped with Uncharted 4, but not this time. We also did it with Battlefront 2, we did it with Battlefield 5, we are going to do it again.
    My 2 cents.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Upsides: graphics are amazing, and the game is beautiful. The accessibility features are great, and as someone who sometimes fumbles with controls, that they are the same as the previous game is an excellent move, as so many game series move them around.

    Downsides...
Side characters are included in a way that suggests we're supposed to care about them because the protagonist cares about them.. but the relationships aren't earned, they aren't displayed in any meaningful way (Compare and contrast with Joel and his daughter, from The Last of Us) so they feel artificial. The rapport that is supposed to exist between any of them feels hollow. Why should I care about Eugene? Jesse? Dina? I don't know these characters, I haven't spent time with them, so I don't care.

The clickers take a back seat. They're there, but surviving them isn't the main problem any more. They're just there to remind the player that this is the Last of Us, and there's a permanent threat, as well as a leg up when the story stalls.

Character development feels non-existent. There's no redemptive arc, or any significant change other than an abrupt heel-face-turn at the end.

The deuteragonist is not a character I want to play as; why anyone thought it would be interesting to play as the bad guy is entirely beyond me

Last, but not least, the killing of a fan favourite character... destroyed the whole reason I wanted the game in the first place, turning the rest into a pointless slog, like forever reading a book from the perspective of the least favourite characters and never getting to the chapters containing the characters that are of actual interest.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

So with the Last of Us 2 I hoped Naughty Dog would further explore this wonderful relationship, which was left at its very early stages. So many possibilities and stories were ahead of them. Sadly Naughty dog instead chose to destroy these characters, to subvert expectations in the name of shock value. For me the first was endlessly playable thanks to its brilliant writing and thread of hope that kept the characters and the players hooked. None of that is here, no hope, no levity. Just a bleak and depressing plot. One which i do not wish to play again. At least I still have the first.

The Ending is unrewarding it makes me sick feel sad and i think after all those years of disapointment by videogame studios i might just quit. I was so exited for this game and all that just got ruined literally 2 hours in.I bought a ps3 for the sole purpose of playing the first game back in 2013 and it was well worth it.I just genuinely do not understand what the the writers of this game where thinking when they wrote this new story. In terms of the technical side this game is a 10/10,But the story is just filled with so many plot holes and unlikeable characters I had absolutely no motivation to finish the game but I made myself in case it atleast had a half decent ending but nope that’s just the cherry on top of this horrible mess of a story. If your a fan of the first Game pick it up when it goes on sale if you want to experience it for yourself but most people payed $60 dollars just to be disappointed. The first and original The Last of Us game was a beautifully built, written, and outstanding game with amazing graphics and I expected no less from Part 2. When I played The Last of Us Part II, the graphics were outstanding and the voice actors certainly did their part on that and delivered that beautifully. However, the rest of the game seemed like something that came out of a 2015 watt pad fan-fiction. As I read from other reviews, if you are a fan of the franchise and liked the first game, do not play this game, if you are just looking for a (story-type) shooter zombie game with killer graphics, then this is the perfect game for you. Graphics... That's the only good thing about this. Everything else is either mediocre or down right awful. The game play did not evolve one bit since 2013. It's still a walking simulator that's more a movie than a game, which would be enjoyable if it had a good story but God damn is it bad. The story simply broke my heart and not in the good way. It's like a spit in the face of the entire fan base. It's like the worst fan fiction you could possibly find. Seriously? This is what you came up after 7 years? Did Twitter write this game? It's full of plot holes and the characters you fell in love with in the first game are completely ruined and you are forced to play with the character that ruined them. I don't mind the woke stuff but when so much of it is obviously forced down your throat it feels like the entire game was built around it so if people don't like it you can pull the victim card and say that they are ists and phobes and whatever. And the director to preach so much about sexualising women in games is bad only than to put that Abby scene in the game? I can't unsee that. WTF were you thinking? I'd rather watch 2 girls one cup on repeat while eating. Let me tell you a little secret western game devs. People are playing games for entertainment and they'd rather see pretty things while doing it than ugl.. excuse me FUGLY ones! This is never going to change. How is sexualising men was never an issue? People don't like to be preached to and to be told what to think. In a video game setting, that choice should be always ours.
Overall, I don't recommend this, especially if you were a fan of the previous one. maybe buy it when it's on a massive sale. Shame

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If only i took the time to watch the spolers, it would've saved me a good $60 bucks. First off i gave this game a 3 because come on, you can't deny those gorgeous graphics. A no name npc's daughter seeks revenge for her father who was about to kill a child? Don't get me wrong she has every right to seek revenge, but who the hell was he? We didn't even know his name. And not only was this irrelevant **** a 'protagonist' that *spoiler alert* kills joel, but ellie's dumbass lets her walk free in that appalling ending. Might i add that barbaric sex scene which was very insignificant to the story and didnt humanize these new and impertinent characters because news flash, we were forced to sympathize with them and no one did. Neil, you really blew it with this. I think neil is trying to use this game to explore his freakish sexual fantasies, and force feed us his agenda. The lgbtq+ community couldn't even bare this mess of a game. The old ellie protected herself from david and in the end killed him, but this new ellie is so soft for letting abby go free. Abby literally gets to enjoy life with her new beau while ellie sits on the beach crying and goes home to a cold and empty bed. Alone. Don't even cry, because you had optimal time to go and sneak kill her. I had hope that maybe this game could live up to its predecessor, but i was mistaken. This game is a poor excuse for a sequel and seems like a horribly written wattpad fanfiction. The new characters are just plain boring and some pay little to no purpose to the plot. The plot is lazy and bland and the original characters completely abandon their previous personality traits and deviate from past lessons that were learnt. Example: TLOU showed a funny light-hearted ellie that did everything it took to protect herself and joel. Joel was a sceptical/distrustful person and didn't trust people easily, meaning he didnt disclose information to people he didnt trust. ESPECIALLY to strangers. TLOU2 shows a darker ellie. She's not light-hearted and she finds but yet doesnt kill the monster of all monsters: abby. Joel (and Tommy) are friendly with everyone and tells complete strangers their names, which some of you may know causes Joel's demise. Now i hope you see these trends because obviously they have deviated personality wise from the first one. Joel deserved to be avenged. He deserved better. I'm mostly disappointed in ellie because she acted kind of like a **** to joel in the beginning and still didnt avenge him in the end. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME. This game was a hard pill to swallow but to the place that i bought this game, i would like a refund. Expand

The last of us part ii: a dubious message to serve with luxury. Chapter 1: How to kill legacy.

    Foreword.

think what you want, but this game cannot be considered without context (although I am sure that its defenders will call you for objectivity). I respect the work of Naughty Dog (although Naughty America is better suited for it now) and understand the obstacles that both the game and its developers have gone through, but I believe that the amount of effort spent should not overstate/justify the quality of the product/activity, especially if this product is of questionable quality. You will ask: "Why do you urge to look at the game through the context and at the same time say not to take into account the developers' work? - Because what we got was their conscious decision, in particular Neil Drakman. If we're talking about objective evaluation, it's 8/10.

Graphics. On my original ps4, the game looks amazing. There's nothing to say - you can see everything for yourself.

The gameplay was moved from the first part and made according to all the canons of a good sequel - everything became bigger and better. But the problem is that the gameplay of the first part was good for your time and as long as you don't improve it, you'll have the gameplay of the last of us 2013. But that's a question for today's game industry and its stagnation.

It's a story. The main idea of a cycle of violence and eternal revenge, though not new, is definitely interesting. However, this idea, too, should be disclosed and do it well, which, in my opinion, the game did not work. All because of the huge amount of "gray morality.
    The sound. Beautiful.
    Control. Comfortable and intuitive.

And now about what's going on around here. Everyone understands that the positioning and marketing of the product is sometimes directly responsible for its success and considering who the game is focused on and what ideas it carries, you know - that's the problem. Yes, it's an artistic value. I think only the lazy one didn't reproach the game for its SJW policy. However, I don't think that makes the game really terrible. The problem is not in any politics at all, but in its propaganda and the quality of this propaganda. If the game was about traditional values and criticism of LGBT - it would not change my assessment. Nobody likes to be hung up (not even in direct text) with any position. And this is not about homophobia and its derivatives, but about how people feel about another complaint from minorities in their infringement of rights. Even by printing this text, I understand that again someone's rights will be violated and feelings will be offended. Most people are tired of it. Personally, I don't like it when grief-creators create another "Mary Sue" whether it's a woman or a man, because I remember very well the time when they were able to create strong and independent women, and that was due to the script or the author's idea, not the narrative of modern trends. And you know what? The characters were beautiful. Once again, I have immeasurably respect for every person, and the rights activists, among others. I have nothing against who I play for. It doesn't matter to me who the nationality or color is. But please, let us not create a negative attitude to our liberal movement with our propaganda. Let's respect everyone's interests, not interpret only our own. Let us be free as long as our freedom is not restricted by the freedom of others. Let us justify and prescribe our characters. Let's just be a little more civilized.

With this assessment, I expressed my attitude not only to TLOU 2, but to the industry as a whole. Maybe you will miss this review or consider it stupid, or maybe you will read it and agree with what is going on. Only know that by projecting your opinion/position on the masses, be able to evaluate what it is for and for whom.

If you found some mistakes sorry 4 my English

But as you can see i rated the 3/10 which seems like it doesn't match what i just wrote above but there is one thing that makes this game rated this low and it is The Story.

The story is the sole reason you get these types of games and the story of this game to say the least is very bad and very confusing at some points, the characters feel like they have no goals and nothing like the first game, every thing after the death of one of the main characters of the first game feels like a forced "feel bad for me, i'm human too" kind of narrative and it doesn't help that you have to hunt the main characters to seek revenge right after you were shown that after you meet those characters you're going to kill one of them, and in the very end you have the chance as the main character to to kill this villain who killed your friends (you killed theirs aswell) but for some stupid reason you decide that you're better than them and you let them go live, just to comeback to a dead friend and a broken relationship, just super confusing and and very stupid in my opinion, i think the developers went the GOT season 8 route with their writing and my score shows that.

And for the love of God, never, ever disrespect game characters and your own fan base like this! Graphic: One of the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen, the intention to details and the lighting everything is just perfect.

Story: However this is where the game really suffers, Especially when it's a story based game, it is the core that makes the first game such a succes, it's just so bad from the incredibly weird plot holes, and questioneble decision that the characters make that really set so far away from their personalities from the first game, it's just like horror movies when the female character checks a dark room that makes weird noise with no protection whatsoever, it's just dumb.

A far cry from the first, TLOU Part 2 comes at an inopportune time for Sony with next-gen around the corner. The game is disappointing and weak from both a gameplay and narrative perspective. Coupled with their anti-consumer refund policy, this will be the last of Sony for me for some time.

I'm not a big fan of zombie games, I bought the first game off my buddy after his playstation broke for $20. I played on grounded the first and only time I played. It took me 15 hours to beat the first game, and as I got close to the end it got to be a bit of a trudge to the finish. I thought the gameplay as a whole was good, but sneaking around with the knife was always the best option, and in the back five hours of the game it got fairly repetitive. The Last of Us Part 2 amplifies this by just slightly refining the gameplay, but being 10 hours longer then the origional. The game was just a trudge to get through since all I did was knife almost everything in sight. The story makes many baffling decisions. Everything it does with Joel is done incredibly poorly. All of the new characters fell flat on there faces, there wasn't a single likeable or intresting new character. Everything with the faction war in Seattle could be removed, and the game would be better for it, it is purely filler content that is made to humanize Abby, but it fails miserably. The devs try so hard to humanize Abby, but they just fail. She is not relatable at all. She just doesn't seem human. Any and every interaction with her has something to do with violance. Whether it is talking about how she likes killing scars, or main characters, or her just strait up killing things. There is no emotion, there are no scenes like Ellie finding the Magazine in the first game. Or like Joel with his daughter. Or like Ellie's reaction after killing David. There just isn't any humanity to her, and so the constant attempts to humanize her just don't work. Part 2 also has the worst ending to anything I have ever seen, worse then Game of Thrones, worse then Two and a Half Men, and worse then Mass Effect 3. It can not be understated how bad of an ending this game has. In a game where the story is supposed to carry it, the story just dies right out of the game. A minute into the marathon the story has a heart attack and dies. The atmosphere is just off aswell. In the first game it felt like it was Joel and Ellie against the world, what ever nature threw at them they could take it. The main enemies of the game were also the infected, not people. But in Part 2 the apocalyptic world ending plauge just feels like an after thought. The main enemies of the game are people, not the infected, and this hurts the atmosphere of it being you against the world. The only positive things about the game are that it has very few bugs, and it has great graphics. For that I'll give it a 3, but it deserves worse. Expand

If you really want to play a true revenge story, play God of War 3 that game is a true revenge, not this The Last of Us 2.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll give it to Naughty Dog on one thing- the graphics and sound design are something amazing for the time. But that is the best part of this game.
It is genuinely one of the biggest letdowns I have ever seen. The gameplay hasn't been massively improved upon from any other Naughty Dog game. The most monumental thing they added was the ability to crawl. This in and of itself is a letdown to me, but what really got me was the story.
This game has genuinely some of the worst writing I have ever seen. The dialogue is so unrealistic and forced, and the way the story is paced is terrible. The game is needlessly trying to be dark, to the point that it's overdone and everything that happens ends up being completely unimpactful in the end. Everything we loved about the first game is completely gone. The realistic and enjoyable dialogue between characters? Gone. The evolution of Joel and Ellie's relationship throughout the first game is completely thrown away with this game. We are taught to feel bad for the person who killed Joel, but we aren't given enough time to even consider sympathizing with Abby for what she did.
We got a whole game with Joel, where we learned to love him, for his flaws, and for what he was great at. How can you expect us to be ok with playing as the character that murdered Joel when you only really give us a short sequence to understand her motive?
Not to mention, the said motive is so unbelievably forced. Sure, it shows consequences for Joel's actions of the first game, but we already got that in this game with Ellie's discovery of what truly happened at the end of TLOU1.
With that relationship gone, you'd imagine this game would at least try to add something to it that can fix this gap. But no. All the previous and even new characters in this game just feel empty. Joel's death was unbelievably rushed. Joel from TLOU1 would not be stupid enough to walk into this trap. They remind me of robots. I didn't feel bad when anyone died (other than Joel), except for maybe- and this is a big maybe- Jesse. That was it. It was completely inconsequential that any of them died in the first place because none of them had a major impact on the story to begin with.
Ellie's guilt and remorse after killing any main character also made no sense. Why not feel bad when you murder any other innocent people? Do they only count as lives when they show up in cutscenes? And even then, why go through the effort of killing all of them just to have your goal in your hands and let it go?
I guess this was their attempt at a curveball of sorts, like they did with the ending of the first game, except it just doesn't work in this situation. The game got predictable after a while. But this was not the right move to add a sense of unpredictability. This was just terrible.
The predictability of this story was not redeemable by character growth like the first one was. This game was just lackluster in every way possible when it came to the story. The only redeemable qualities are the gameplay and sound design. They took everything good from the first game, threw it in the trash, caught it on fire, spit on it, and threw it in a grave.

    3/10, wish I could get a refund.

Loved the first game - problem is they take everything great about the first one and destroy it like it insulted their family. I have absolutely no idea what Joel did to the writers of the sequel that gave them enough reason to turn a hardcore, intelligent survivor into an angsty teen who doubts decisions anyone with a brain knows are morally justified while simultaneously becoming incapable of making smart decisions in ANY aspect of his life. They actively disrespected his character in a way that not only makes the second game unplayable, it makes me wish I hadn't experienced it because I'm afraid I won't be able to go back to the first and see it in the same way anymore.

This game not only has issues on it's own - it ACTIVELY DESTROYS any nostalgia you had for the first.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay isn't bad (it's pretty much identical to the first with a few minor improvements so this was to be expected) and the graphics are great, which you'd expect considering how long it took to make - that's why I'm still giving it 3 points, but in a series that was literally defined by the story, when you take that away you're losing 70% of the game.

I ask anyone disagreeing to answer this: have you ever heard anyone recommend the first game because of the gameplay or the graphics? Or did you hear them tell you how amazing the story was and how they didn't want to spoil anything for you because it was so amazing?

The story in 2 is a dumpster fire of trying too hard to be deep. It's a 13 year old emo kid writing bad poetry convinced it's the deepest thing anyone has ever thought before.

    Avoid at all costs.

    Pros:
    -Really nice visuals.
    -Game play is decent.
    -Very well animated cut scenes.

    Cons:
    -AI is clunky.
-Way too many cut scenes in proportion to game play, if I wanted to watch an animated movie, I'd watch some Pixar.
-Story was very brutal for the sake of being brutal, without really making any sense or having any real resolution, resulting in many hours wasted for me.
-It sort of reads as a teenagers fan fiction with how it's story, events, and subsequent actions of characters play out.
-The characters themselves aren't very likable, and it's hard to feel any connection to them.
-It feels like it sort of drags on because of how poorly it was written, making it a chore to play and to complete.
-Absolutely no replay-ability because of the story.

In short, if i had to compare it to other games, it would be a Frankenstein of Death Stranding, Duke Nukem Forever and Alien Isolation. It has good visuals, it took years to develop an outdated and an unlikable story, and has dull game play to pad in-between cut scenes. How they went from a winning formula with the first to a complete dud with the second is a major disappointment, but it happens far too often in video games, television and movies. When you have something that works, maintain the formula, maybe adding a new topping or two for some variation and something new; you don't pull out key ingredients and ham fist in others in hopes they'll sate your customers hunger for what they're used to.

It's up to you to believe whether or not the critics are being honest, but as for myself and others, i really wish I hadn't have wasted my money, and more so my time on playing this.
