Genuinely mediocre game, I thought throughout the first half it was a masterpiece and then the **** plot of "revenge bad" came up and the game tries to make you sympathize with a character that it just set up as a villain, rewriting the end of the first game changing the African doctor in a broken down and dirty hospital room who had questionable intentions to the white guy who saves zebras and just want to save the world in a super clean and sterile room.
The previous game continually points to the Fireflies being incompetent terrorists but Joel needs to deliver Ellie even if it's not likely to get a cure. Turns out for some reason the Fireflies are so incompetent that they can't make a cure unless they kill her and neither she or her father-figure got told that. Joel would have had all his weapons and supplies taken and him being escorted to the edge of the city to fend for himself with NOTHING. Being unable to go on without her and having his daughter taken away from him the second time he couldn't handle it and saved her. I don't remember where but the game implies there were many other immune people who have already been killed by the Fireflies.

TLOU2 made Joel's ambigous personal choice to save a daughter-figure after he couldn't save his own daughter into just Joel being the villian that ruined everything for everyone and he deserved to be tortured and killed infront of his brother and daughter-figure. And the worst part is Ellie never forgave Joel for lying to her, Abby's crew took away that from her and she's angry. At that point the players are emotionally invested in Ellie's grief and we're encouraged to get revenge, but nope halfway through you just stop playing as her and play as Abby for THE REST OF THE GAME, helping your enemy and the game throwing in random stuff to make you sympathize with her, playing with dogs, ushering children to school, taking care of a pregnant woman is all just cheap ways to make you like her.

Manny is a womanizer who's banging 3-4 different women telling them he's the only one for them, and then starts hitting on Abby, Mel is just an **** in general making Owen cheat on Abby to be with her instead, Nora and the 2 other guys are ****s for trying to kill Ellie and so on and so forth.

This game is a disappointment. I think I can speak for everyone by saying that I wanted a game, not a middle school ethics class. The story is okay for the first half of the game, but then the game wants us to view everything from a complete different perspective, and the second half feels more like a 10 hour long side-quest and it all sums up to a truly disappointing ending.

I played and finished TLOS so many times more than i can remember , the only thing i have remember is that i played all the difficulty
mode from normal to grounded on the ps3 , plus the ps4 experience finished 2 times

so you can tell how much i loved TLOS , i didn't get bored to play the story all over again and live the experience so many times.

so I preord part2 to see Joel and Ellie once again and their story

Finished part 2 in 7 days (3 hours or close of play in 1 day)

...what a disappointement ! i never thought Neil will make the story here this worse i still don't believe it

what Joel did was right , why you have to punish him for what he did ! that's unacceptable

also Ellie personality has changed here she was a piece of **** towards Joel

i didn't like the new character and her revenge crew ,
who came up with this idea of killing joel and i have to play as joel killer to understand why she did it !! one thousand NO

The sequel was bad very bad , it will hurt your soul

all you have to do here now is to suffer and cry the rest of the game ,

also Ellie is your enemy as Joel killer ! you have to beat her down! that's nice very nice :(

in the end joel killer survived and Ellie didn't get her revenge after killing the whole world to get to Joel killer !

    what a garbage sequel

anyway I'm giving this game a 4 because here its all about the story

everything else was fantastic or at least acceptable

and i don't care about Naughty dog anymore from now on.

Sad at what they turned to Ellie. I'm not homophobic but I don't want to play with a woman with a man's arms (Abby). Another thing, the people at Naughty Dog forgot that a game WILL NEVER BE A MOVIE. Putting sex scenes was RIDICULOUS !!! If I could ask for my money back I certainly would. I will think and research well before buying any game from this company again. Expand

I give a solid 4 for the same gameplay as tlou1, graphics, soundtrack and brutality. The story is just horrible tho and nowhere near as good as the first one.
After some time I found the biggest reason why i dont like this game (beside the other huge problems this game has): The story is completely out of the background (read as zombie apocalypse). You can take this cheap revenge plot,

And in game like this where the story is the biggest part of the game. I don't care they killed Joel i don't care half of the game was about Abby, but her and hers group story was just not entertaining and the cheap tricks from writers to make us like Abby were just pathetic. Like she can cure cancer, but i will still hate her because she's the one who killed the character i fell in love in the first game. Sadly gotta give this 4/10 even tho it's a really good game but not at all what i expected... Expand

We open our minds completely and made an effort, but it was TOO BORING we are 32 yo! this game was for adults not for young kids, when you mature enough you want to see more and more compelling stories, because the usual doesn't entertain you anymore. And this was sooo basic, and still it was messed up.

We already knew the ending and knowing that, 25 hours would be a waste of time.
Luckily a friend lend me the game otherwise i wont even touch it...

its a 4 only for the flashbacks i can’t give a 0 to those beautiful moments that made me cry a river, just because its a goodbye to something i was very hyped for, but, at least is another lesson, TO NEVER HYPE FOR ANYTHING FROM THIS INFECTED MEDIA ANYMORE.

    Does it have good graphics
    +3 points
Does it have good story +3 points
    And was the game fun
    +3 points
Also if they all apply then i add +1 more point

So i believe the game only had good graphics but the story runs along and kinda memes itself out buy forcibly making weird decision on every important scene of the game like were i forcibly have to kiss the girl when there clearly was another love interest for Ellie and he had to die without anyone even caring nobody talked about him since and he was a caring guy that never had a girlfriend either in his life (assumably) and also the the part were i have to fight abby and i really wanted to kill her **** ass but Ellie was like “i have nothing to lose so i might as well let abby get what she wants and let her live so maybe one day she can Possibly do this to another family in return” also all the love/sex scenes were cringey because both the main kiss scenes were too intense to even watch
I understand niel druckman being an sjw but walking dead did it perfectly it gave us a choice to decide weather clementine liked a guy or a girl and i think ellie should have ended up with jesse not amy

Joels death: this was hard to watch i wasnt even crying i was plainly pissed off I hate when sjw type of Directers do this **** they always try to split the audience and have them argue a lot about how good the game is or not how about you plainly make it good for everyone and do what you promised you said Joel and Ellie would continue to maintain their relationship with each other and Joel's death didn’t have to be on the first hour of the game
They could have let joel at least say his final goodbye and then I probably would have cried but no they just kill him out of nowhere and if theyd let him say goodbye to her at the scene it would have made the game more impactful but no they decided to golf club his head with no warning and ellie turned into the worst character when she let she let abby get away if i was her and had common sense i would have grabbed the gun from the backpack and shot her ass before she got away or her little friend so she would see my pain The graphics were pretty good though but with the terrible common sense it kinda made the graphics look a little bad but then again im rating story and graphics diffrently so good graphics Terrible story +0

    Somewhat fun gameplay+1

    And good graphics+3

If only i was given a choice to do all these things though like the first game was somewhat acceptional but the second game wasn't the mood so id rather choose what my character does rather then forcibly doing stupid **** in this game Here are my conclusions

Jesse should have been a love interest for ellie otherwise dont create him just so he can die like that

Amy was so ugly and boring to be a love interest

Abby should Not have been taking steroids because of how rare they are in the apocalypse Ellie should have been given choices along the way On playing the game

joel shouldnt have died like that he should have atleast said something memerable before he died and not “yall sound like yall know us or something”

Chain of violence is stupid because it will eventually end weather or not you use violence or not

We should have had choices for us personally and not the developers wanting

That hispanic guy is an insult to my race because he spat on joel and i loved his character (Joel's)

ellie should have killed abby as well at the end

I dont support weed and we caught ellie smoking it with another person and they end up making out also the graphics were really good but facial expressions were Kinda ugly Call of duty did its sequel good why didnt you

Atleast give us choices even if joels death was inevitable i just believe that this game was produced in 2 years but the 7 years later they just act like we are not gonna overestimate it and think it was a good game but it was overestimated and it was way too overestimated 2020 sucks for me at this point dont be mad if people commit suicide because of ghis game being so ass

Have a wonderful day and try to have a good life in the future if possible Peace

The gameplay was 10/10 but its cringe-y to play the person who killed your favorite character. Also, Abby has the 2nd half of the game with the best boss fight and stages as opposed to the main protagonist Ellie. (The Rat King boss fight). Its as if the early stages were just setting up for the main gameplay which is to play the antagonist.

The only cool thing was the Tommy boss

I remember the chills of the cannibal leader boss fight in the 1st game. This game does not have that all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly... I just finished the game and it was probably the darkest game I've ever played in my life. Naughty dog, I give props to you for making me actually hate a fictional character, I honestly didn't think it possible. Your attempts at humanizing Abby throughout your time playing as her were strong but to no avail. I hated Abby the entire game and wanted her to die for what she did to Joel right up until I was drowning her... thats the only time I felt pitty for her. As for Ellie's development, I hate how dirty you did her. Ellie was nothing but a fun loving teen filled with humor and spunk. I understand how Joels discision to save her life could have dampened that but by the end of this game it was as if she was devoid of life. There was no hope in this game the moment Joel was killed except for killing Abby and by the end we couldn't even do that. Over all the game did a fine job at getting you enotionally invested, but none of it and I mean none of it was a feel good emotion for me. You've recieved our money and it's been the number one selling ps exclusive this is true, but in terms of replay ability I think I'm going to shelf this game forever and never pick it back up again. I did not find the game very engaging, I do enjoy the game play, scrounging for bullets and weapons and barely making it through encounters but there are basically no innovations from the last game. This would be okay if the story was on par but since it was not I found myself losing interest way before I reached the ending.

I would have preferred it if they made Ellie's goal to go out and find a cure for Joel after he was infected from spores, hunting down some scientist in Washington, mirroring what Joel did for Ellie in the first game, with Ellie more than willing to sacrifice her life for Joel, leading to the same discoveries that we get in flashbacks here.

This way, you could keep ALL the characters you've created and you have a goal for the player to be invested in.

Instead, we get none of that aspect again, in fact, it isn't even really an issue, except when Ellie's mask breaks, which only exists to cause drama with Dina. TLOU2 is all about revenge with half of the game following someone we will never care about because of what she did.

I'm sure many do legitimately love it but I cannot and I DID try to give it a fair shake.

It believes itself to be telling a deep story of “revenge is bad” but it fails to recognize that justice and revenge are two sides to the same coin. In a world where there is no external justice, communities have to protect themselves and take their own justice. This game ignores that nuance, instead delving into a weird, “killing people who came to your town, hunted, tortured, and murdered one of your own should be forgiven.” That’s not how society works. That’s never been how society works. That’s literally why our society has jury nullification, because sometimes we all agree that revenge killing is justice(I.e., in recent years, the father in Texas who killed his daughter’s rapist with a shotgun). We see two paths laid out in the game: Ellie, who’s father figure is brutally tortured and His corpse desecrated in front of her, by invaders who came to her community and tried to kill her and her uncle. She hunts them down and executed them quickly, and only in self defense(with the exception of Nora, an enemy combatant that she tortures for information on the rest of the invaders). And then there is Abby’s path. Abby is out for torture and blood and pain. We see her mercilessly torture others with no emotional reckoning after the fact, we see her betray and turn on her own companions, and yet the game repeatedly tries to instill that Abby’s path was justice, not revenge, whereas Ellie’s path is revenge, not justice. They utterly failed at their own theme or any sense of nuance and it makes the entire game ring hollow. Ironically, a play series written in 400 BC dealt with the theme of the boundary between societal justice and personal revenge ENORMOUSLY better than this. It’s called the Orestia cycle, and I highly recommend that the writers of this game look into it. The playwright concludes in the end that revenge only becomes unjustified when there is an external force to administer justice. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is a depressing hollow husk of the first game.

The first game was a masterpiece. It had beautiful graphics, a simple plot, and great characters. Although the game was very dark and serious, it had some funny moments. The Last of Us Part II Has barely any, if not none of that. It is a bloody, gruesome, and miserable mess, with a terrible plot and mediocre characters.

First you spent wayyyyy to much time playing as Abby, who honestly was just boring. So you have this boring character and you try to have a separate story line? Yawn. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay, the mechanics, and visuals and sounds are a 10/10 don't get me wrong . But First of all it is crappy writing. Abby literally only hears Joel and immediately kills him without knowing if thats actually the Joel she is after. There are thousands of people named Joel lmfaoo. Second of all She didn't hesitate to kill the guy who saved her. She didn't regret it. To us she didn't lose crap. Cuz her friends weren't fleshed out like that we didn't care if they died, a well written villain that you want us to sympathize with would have spent some time with Joel and have some internal conflicts after she hears his name and questions herself if this is the actual Joel she is looking for. If naughty dog really want us to relate to abby they would make us play as her at first and us as players would be like woah whose this? how is she connected to the story? Its lazy writing because all they had to do is switch up some events and flashbacks to make us fall for abby but their execution was horrible. I was never spoiled on this game I was clueless about the leaks. And I came to the game very open minded. honestly I don't mind if they killed Joel it was gonna happen sooner or later. Third of all naughty dog really made us kill that doctor that keep in mind didn't want Joel or Ellie to know to at least give them a choice of giving up Ellie . Fourth of all they could have easily avoided backlash if they at least gave us an option to kill abby at the very end. Fifth of all why does Ellie go back for revenge after losing soo many things and people to only not get the person who was responsible?, and she had a very beautiful home with Dina , even pre-apocalyptic times people would kill for that .Sixth of all there was just soo much death in this game that we as the players grew numb and didn't even care about them...pure shock value. like everyone died in vain and we didn't have time to take in how jessie died til we played as abby for freaking 10 hours during the climax of the game. Abby gets everything but Ellie is left with basically nothing and cant even enjoy the guitar? Seventh of all the characters have zero things that made them who they were in the first game, trusting some people when Joel taught Ellie not to, just to tell them his name and place without even asking them who they were? and Ellie not picking up that ps vita is fishy as hell cuz she loved games. okay and some other things that pissed me off was the smex scene. like dude Im a perv and I love strong women but that was so unexpected and unnecessary to the actual plot and making us sympathize with her. Ellie forgiving abby before she even forgave Joel for keeping her alive is bull crap when she don't even know if it were to work. And Tommy calling ellie a coward after he is nearly killed makes no sense. He would have let her know that he found out where abby was but wouldn't forced that since he and Joel wouldn't want her to risk her life AGAIN!!! because they care about her. The plot is poorly written and they try to hide behind the lgbtq+ community. When its not about that because we definitely loved left behind when we first found out she was gay. OVERALL their execution of a revenge story without the revenge was horrible since they prove everything they did in the game and the countless people they killed was pointless. Ellie killing hundreds of people(may include early pregnant women, fathers, innocent people that just joined the frontline) to feel bad AT THE VERY LAST SECOND about the one person that caused her misery and was actually guilty Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I will start with the positive points: The graphic quality and animations are very well achieved, the effort of the developers is evident. NPCs have artificial intelligence far above what we are used to, EVEN PLANNING WHERE TO ATTACK. The gameplay is very good and improved compared to the first part, a great success without a doubt. The brutality and violence of the fighting enchanted me, the violence of the world is very explicit. The environments are very detailed and make you feel in a real apocalypse, very well worked. The negative points: The story is meaningless, it's full of Flashbacks that cut the gaming experience, make our beloved Joel look like the bad boy in the story, and even Ellie gets mad because "I won't let her decide her fate" When she was already on the stretcher in the first game. They make you play MORE THAN 10 HOURS WITH ABBY, that in addition to killing Joel in the worst and most treacherous way possible, and who by the way would NEVER have trusted a stranger, and also give him their names .. What head does that fit? It goes against the principles of the same character. They make you play with Abby fighting and trying to kill Ellie .. And then she feels sorry when 2 Asians save her life, and does she feel indebted? Why didn't you feel that way when Joel saved your life too? ... doesn't make sense, a poorly planned script. And the music is not bad, I love Gustavo Santaolalla, but it does not stand out much, it could be much better. They had the whole community on their side, too bad they didn't listen. If it were not for the points mentioned above, more than anything El diablo (Abby) and the story so poorly told, my opinion would be different, but unfortunately it is not. You disappointed me Naugthy Dog. And Neil **** liar, very good trailers deceiving people and making them think they were going to play with Joel :) Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In terms of gameplay, I enjoyed the first half and couldn't wait to play more. By the second half I wanted to get through it as quickly as possible. (I actually sprinted through multiple encounters just to get moving, especially during the last area of the game).

Regarding where most of my disappointment comes from. I think.

Imaging driving your car, getting blindsided by another car killing your parent (a hit and run), chasing them down in a blind rage, and then taking an air bag to the face with a note taped to it from the speeder saying "sorry, not sorry, I'm sure you understand".

I'm still finding it difficult to articulate how I feel a few days after I've beaten the game, I apologize if this review does not explain it well.

Grief has several stages, but not here. There are two, anger and acceptance.

Joel is brutally murdered by Abby, you go out on a man hunt to take revenge (the whole time truly furious and convinced that Abby needs to die and everyone that helped her as well) and then.

    Boom

The sides switch and you are forced to play as the person who killed your father-figure in bloody fashion, in an effort to make you understand her side and empathize with her. Keep in mind, Abby shows zero remorse for her actions, and we are just expected to be "huh, I get it now. I killed all your friends, but you (the person I set out to kill in the first place) can live".

By the end I left the game thinking, is that it? I left confused not knowing what I'm supposed to feel, but feeling disappointed and almost numb and not sure why.

The message is important. Yeah, I get it. Forgive and let go yadda yadda. If we could have had a bit more of Ellie, maybee that would have justified a lot of things and hate towards Abby.

Part 1 in my opinion was the best game ever. The problem I have with this game is the lame story and Joel's early death. I would've loved for Joel to have a bigger role in this game. The second issue I had was playing as Abby. Why do I need to learn about Abby's past? I really don't care and a good cut scene would have been sufficient. I don’t think many people expected Joel to live. Troy Baker has stated on multiple occasions that he wanted him to die in the first one. No one thought he would die in such a senseless way though. It would’ve been much more meaningful if he had deserved it. The game would like you to think he did but in order for that to be true you have to disregard why he killed Abby’s father in the first place. Abby’s father wanted to cut open Ellie (killing her in the process) to find a cure. Putting aside the obvious reasons why it’s wrong to kill a 14 year old girl the first game tells you through notes that they’ve tried the same procedure on other people they thought were immune before but it didn’t work. This game conveniently throws all that out the window. Instead they would like you to believe the fireflies were good people and not the fanatic paramilitary organization they were in the first one. Not many people have pointed this out in their reviews so I felt I should touch on this specifically. In short there’s a lack of continuity. There’s a long list of other examples of this and other criticisms to be had with the plot but you can scroll down for those. That being said graphics are gorgeous, gameplay in general is improved. Upgrading is better, silencers, melee combat, animations, and the music is nice too. Accessibility controls are a nice touch too but they’re not that groundbreaking.

I would recommend you play the first one. Skip this one or wait until it’s marked down by half or even lower. Definitely not worth the 60 dollar pricetag

The ending isn't a **** revenge story. It was the end of a story where you lose everything. She has nobody and is left alone. While the person who had even and started the revenge cycle and put all of her friends in danger gets to walk away with somebody she cares about. A truly sad ending. I will not be going back for a second playthrough because of the way that they naughty dog handled certain things like the deaths of characters like Joel of course. If you stopped playing the game because of that. Don't finish it. It doesn't get any better. Other than the story the gameplay is really tight and just like the old last of us. If you liked the first games combat then this is right for you. Everything from the first is implemented into this and then some. I really enjoyed this games combat and the way you can go about killing people. It has a little bet of everything for everyone. Overall this is ok game worth a purchase. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to give my 2 cents to the rating here, although I can't add very much new stuff. For me, it is truly a miracle how these good reviews came here. I had a very hard time finishing the game and no, it's not because of the violence, horror and also not because of Joel's death (everybody excepted him to die... but the way it happened was still to soon and illogical ). What Neil Druckman tried, didn't work for me at all. No matter how stupid and evil Ellie got, I was on her team (Loyalty and stuff you know). And in addition to that, Abbys Story had me hate her even more. I saw absolutely nothing nice about her or regrets. In the end I felt I wasted 25h of my life feeling depressed because I waited 7 years and even was looking forward playing the sequel and I really thought: naughty dog never let me down. They can handle Abby in a way I will understand. But no, just ruin everything you liked about the first part and write a story so that it makes you feel you are watching a soap opera. But a cheap one. Really? So many plotholes? Mixing the terms vaccine and cure to one so you don't understand what exactly joel **** up. Still don't believe a cure / vaccine by the fireflys would have been a good thing in this world... Also the map drop, countless surprises that don't develop... they just happen... ah I really don't want to think about it anymore. The other bad reviews make a good job already. The overall story, what it wanted to say in the end is good. Don't get me wrong. But while I was playing I did not understand how the decisions developed. And THIS IS MY BIGGEST PROBLEM. And what was really the point with all those cards and coins? Damn me for spending time on that.

Make the next one an open world game, and let the players play the game.

And lets stick to ONE main character in the next one, please.

And although Ellie kissed a girl, she was a child. I had imagined Ellie would get pregnant, baby would be immuned, Fireflies come for revenge but kidnap baby for the cure AND then Joel & Ellie would start the adventure! I should not have played this game. My imagination should have been enough. We all know the music score, the scenery, graphics etc is exceptional. Congratulations, JOB WELL DONE!. But I would have rather all that suck and have a deceit story. I knew it wasn't going to be as good as the first story but my gosh, it feels like a stranger not familiar with the first game pulled this out of space. It not only goes to destroy the beloved characters but seems to try and destroy the first game. The first game I didnt want to end but not the case with this one. I love collectibles but not even that could save this. I'm sorry for the amazingly talented people who made there part awesome & had to work knowing the story/writing was cheap. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In the first The Last of Us we were told the story of a post-apocalyptic world provoked by a pandemic that almost killed humanity (The Cordyceps fungus was passed from insects to humans and the latter became Zombies) the story is centered 20 years later and we control Joel Miller who witnessed and survived the outbreak losing his only daughter in the event, 20 years later Joel is in charge of escorting a girl (Ellie) who developed immunity to the infection, both must go through a hostile North America and not only must be fought with the different infected (Zombies), but there are groups of people who fight for resources and their own survival, Along the way, Joel and Ellie, controlled by the player, create a wonderfully developed bond through a solid script that provokes in the player an affinity and affection for the characters (that was the good thing about the first TloU, that despite being a video game, the story is told as if the player is the one who develops the story as it progresses), all these details made The Last of Us Part 1 one of the best video games in history and a reference in this industry, That's why the expectations for this second installment were very high, but after finishing this videogame (almost 50 hours) I feel that they completely ruined the legacy of the first installment, unfortunately videogames with a cinematic cut if they lack a good story the playable factor is completely left out and in this case it's an absolute narrative disaster; it lacks absolutely everything that made its predecessor great and its worst sin is to force the player during the middle of the game to control a character which is impossible not to hate. This is done with the purpose of "understanding" their motivations and provoking "empathy" and in this way justifying their actions which the game NEVER does, not to mention that this part of the story along with its secondary characters do not generate any interest, what they tell leads nowhere except to place the characters for the convenience of the story in a specific point all this added to the linearity of the game makes the game too long and ends up being tedious (I lasted several days without playing this part and I almost decided not to finish it) they would have saved this second half and nobody would have missed it, To top it off, the script destroys Joel (literally) by ruining all the good things that the character had in construction in order to give Ellie the absolute leading role, the message is clearly perceived "Let's finish with the father figure, in this progressive world there is no room for heteropatriarchy" in this way they took out of the equation one of the best characters created in the last years and not content with that the ending is the most anti-climatic thing I have seen in a long time (it doesn't lead anywhere, it doesn't leave the established characters, it doesn't even take the trouble to leave the doors open for a third installment. ..
Frankly I didn't feel like repeating the game and if I did it would be in a very distant time...

    5/10

A final observation which I must make so that stones rain down on me is the FASTIDOSOS! that are being put in with the forced inclusion, and to detail this I must mention the main characters:
Ellie - Lesbian (from the first game it was known and it didn't bother in the least but they already abused the rest of the characters
    Dina - Bisexual
    Lev - Transgender man
Abby - of the main characters she is the only heterosexual woman and she is tomboy at best (those arms are only taken out by steroids and in a post-apocalyptic world it should be very difficult to get those kind of supplements)
I better not tell you what happens to male, straight characters.
This is not inclusion, it is imposition and the only thing that all this achieves is REJECTION, nowadays it is respectable that every individual decides about his sexual orientation or his gender identity and it is good to give them notoriety but we are reaching a point where they want to put everything into the brave, that is not the method, the imposed tolerance does not stop being indoctrination.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a long-standing TLOU fan, I was severely disappointed by the delivery of this game.

    What I liked:

In terms of the visual aspects, they did an amazing job. The game is beautiful. The graphics and world building is captivating.
The AI is exhilarating, by using different weapons and tactics when confronted by your enemies.

    What I didn't like:

There are big problems with the story, the way it's told, and the way it was delivered.
I get that it was experimental and similar to the styling of some directors, but it really didn't work for me.
It's a simple revenge story and it's Vanilla at best.
The game constantly forces you to like characters you have no relationship with. Introducing and killing them off almost feels like they didn't need to be there at all.
I reckon Ellie's descent into chaos would have worked much better if they had kept Joel around for more than the 5 minutes of gameplay you get with him.

Anyways, the game got about half of it right and the other half is an absolute mess.

This is not TLOU, this is a hot mess and time wasted I will never get back. The biggest disappointment in gaming for me since No Man's Sky.

Graphics were amazing which is why I rated as high as I did. Plot left a lot to be desired with returning characters making unrealistic decisions. New character relationships appear to be forced on you with seemingly artificial scenarios to try to garner sympathy. Ending seems pointless and made me question why I even wasted my time playing this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my review of The Last of Us Part 2.
While it took me a while to finish it (July 14), I haven't read or watched any reviews and leaked information about the game prior to my first playthrough. Though I watched some trailers.

    Starting with Graphics and Gameplay.
I can't say much about it but, if Naughty Dog made their best looking game, then this is it.
Every detail crafted in this game is high quality. The attention to detail for every interaction
is also marvelous. The animations and motion capture are realistic.

Music is still a very strong point in this game. It adds to the immersion and emotion of the game.
Sound effects are also very good, and seemed like true-to-life.

Can't say much about the story. After watching that most talked about scene, the game became predictable and boring. As you progress, this game is like doing the opposite what made the first game so compelling, so likable with characters who are relatable and interesting that anyone can feel like they're real people.
Throughout the game, it became unexciting and depressing. Can't say much about how violence was being depicted on this game. There are times that certain points in the game should have been changed, but for the shock factor, it made through the final product.
This game felt like Naughty Dog's approach about revenge is to disassociate the fans from the first game and forget about it.
There were also scenes that I think should have been written better to have a better closure to plot points left behind from the first game and some scenes that i felt placed wrongly in the game. Some of these scenes were a flashback, that felt like telling a story too late.

As I close my experience with the game, it is unfair to not share one part I really liked, and it was the "Birthday Gift" sequence. It reminded me of what TLOU is all about.

The gameplay and graphics were phenomenal and stunning to look at, but the story is the main factor that makes this rating drop for me as it had unnecessary political agendas in a zombie apocalypse and certain character treatment were horrible, especially the ones we loved from the first game and yet making us play as a character who downright killed off the main protagonist from the first game for 10 hrs for the sake of sympathizing with her was disrespectful and maybe could've been executed in a better way. If you greatly enjoyed the storytelling and development of the first game the same way I did, you probably won't like this game. I have finished this game in about 6 days since the release and I have had time to fully think about my feelings for this game.

Oh, and if your review has anything to do with a "political agenda", or "feminist propaganda", your review is already invalid. Don't bother.

I will get this out of the way and say that the gameplay and graphics are absolutely worthy of a good score, save for the fact that a LOT of the sequences are repetitive at worst. Many mechanics are improved upon and added in this game, making those sequences worthwhile. The photo mode is also fantastic, I recommend that you take as many screenshots as you can with photo mode and just play around with it.

This being said, the story is... not great. It tries to differentiate itself too much from the first game, which had a cliffhanger that basically begged for a continuation. There has been a feeling of disconnection to both the story and characters and nothing to really grasp at you emotionally or mentally as the first game did. Within the first 2 hours of this game, the entire relevancy and connection to its predecessor is completely severed due to a certain event, even if you are greatly involved with the supposed "plot" and what is told to be Ellie's end goal. This game is riddled with what I like to call cheap-outs, that try to get a "gotcha!" moment at you, but are really just surprising for a moment, then irrelevant in the next. There are certain parts that I do appreciate in the story. Ellie's interactions with the characters on her side of the story were something that felt actually good, feeling like the connections you make with other characters in the first game. Although I don't feel as if these characters are necessarily well-developed, I do appreciate that point of view from Ellie. Another aspect I greatly enjoyed, in which case is the best part of the game for me, were Ellie's sequences of flashbacks that told their own story. In my opinion, the story told by those sequences would have made a better plot, one that lovers of The Last of Us would have found more emotional distress and disparity with, in a good way. One that doesn't shatter its connection to the entire first game in a minute, but instead builds on its foundation.

The game also allows you to play the same story from another point of view, in an attempt to garner sympathy for a certain character. I will say that with my time of reflecting on this game, I have grown to like this character and the one that most of her journey is with. Yet even now, I've gained no sympathy for the character. It seemed like they got a small part of the first game (the ending hospital scene) and decided, "Oh hey! Let's make a second game entirely of this pointless death!" Moving on, many of the other characters in the "Wolves" group simply are either just unlikable or gone before you can even get to that point.

I've heard the point from critics that this game is not one you're supposed to enjoy or be happy with. I get it. It's riddled with tragedies. It's supposed to have a "deep meaning". But I say this wholeheartedly: I enjoy tragedies. I like games with tragic stories and endings. Stories that make you angry, upset, and empty. But at the end of this game, I genuinely felt none of those emotions, just disappointment. Plot devices that serve no purpose other than to be a way to move the story on (I'm looking at you, Tommy at my farm and random new group called Rattlers) and major events that don't feel major at all.

All in all, I don't want to say that this game is bad, but it's certainly not good. I say this considering it as a standalone game.
But it is not a standalone game. It is a sequel. So I am going to judge it as so. Considering this, I do not think that The Last of Us Part II is good. Sure, it ups the department of gameplay, but the main driver of The Last of Us is the story. And when you start lacking in the main focus, you have made a disappointing sequel. I wanted so bad to like this game and it hurts to write this, but this was a sequel that was just. Eh. Worth playing? Yes. Would I genuinely recommend it? No. This is my review that no one will read, thanks for your time.
