This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game could have been so much more. It’s a shame, the gameplay and graphics are astounding but the fact they kill Joel like that is disgusting. I loved the Ellie part of the game and that’s who the game should have been about. This was Ellie’s story, except it was only half Ellie’s story. The way they forcefully make you play as the She-man that killed our beloved hero and father figure to Ellie is just sick. I don’t know what they where trying to achieve with the Abby part of the game. I have no empathy and Feel no sorrow for her throughout the play through. Also the fact that you forcefully have to beat the **** out of Ellie is so wrong. We love Ellie , why the hell would w...................want to beat her to a pulp? And don’t even get me started on the ending . All I can say is this game could have been the game of the generation ruined by poor writing . Goodbye naughty dog and f u Noel **** Anpulp? Expand

And yet it's all in service of a plot about idiots killing each other for literally no reason other than to say revenge is bad, and with gameplay that feels half-hearted and at times completely broken.

When the credits started to roll I felt sad, not because of the story or characters like how the game wanted, but because the game squandered its gifts. I just hope some developers out there find a way to harness the goodness out of the last of us part II, and deliver a game that truly deserves it.

Graphics and gameplay are a 10/10, but story is a 0/10, so, this is pretty much a 4/10 game.
Why not a 6/10? well, the team behind this game said several times they didnt want to make a "fun" game, and that the main focus should be the story, well, if the studio considers the story so important, then it weights more than the graphics and gameplay.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would like to preface this by saying I played this completely blind. I beat it once on moderate with about half of everything and 23 hour playtime. I had not watched a single thing about this game besides the one trailer shown 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not homophobic or transphobic or whatever else about this game has people riled up. I beat the first game as well and it still has a place in my heart because of how good it was. I want to start off by saying this: A lot people are mad that Joel died but what makes me angry and upset is the execution of said event, and what it meant in terms of story. It's a story about revenge, but it is taking a backseat to tedious gameplay and boring story points. The gameplay is the same as last of us 1 but even worse because that game came out 7 **** years ago and no improvements or changes have been made, besides adding melee combat as a more viable option. You'll be using your brain only to think about how bad the story is because the gameplay can be simplified to go behind enemy, push button, wait, repeat. Except 3 occasions, where you fight a boss or miniboss. Except two of them are the exact same thing, so there is only one unique boss encounter in the game. Braindead gameplay and a boring looting loop with an option in accessibility that basically loots for you as it pings every god damn resource take center stage as your characters talk about meaningless garbage. The story is bare bones, rarly elaborating on anything until up to 2 to literally 15 hours later. Your not shown any repercussions for your actions until so many hours later you either forgot or it's such an insignificant detail it makes no stupid difference. Like on day 2, you kill this girl who was playing this game, and on day to of abby's timeline, its revealed her name was whitney, and she said one line of dialogue, and you can buy her **** model in the extras screen on the main menu. Its trying to preach to you that revenge is bad, and it only leads to making te situation worse, but nobody **** cares the bastard killed MOTHER**** JOEL. He was one of my favorite video game characters and this game ruined that for me, because he also is a rare one that was in an awful situation and had a mostly happy ending. The best moments in this game are the flashbacks as ellie, especially the one at the museum and the one that happened after dina kissed ellie. Im not one who cries during video games, but when ellie apologizes to Joel and says she wants to be closer with him I was right with Joel tryna hold in my tears. It feels like all the effort in writing went into these flashbacks with Joel, because th writers knew the main person people wanted was Joel. I'm not saying they're didnt deserve the effort, the former hero deserves this treatment, but comparatively, the games average writing is mediocre at best. I'm also going to say it was to lokg and the whole playing as abby section really bugged me. Your playing as the bad guy your also lead to hate, and if you hate the character your playing as, you dont want to play the game. This whole section frustrated me to all hell as it goes on for longer than ellie's section did, if you didnt **** around for to long. I resorted to running by a majority of human and infected by the time I got to abby, and it was still 2 hours longer than my ellie section. I'm not going to say anything more because I could rant for longer if I could, but i want to talk about the endings. It should have stopped at the farmhouse, with ellie refusing Tommy's pleas and having to deal with the trauma as punishment for killing and torturing people. That way, it could have still gone along with the game policy of revenge bad, acceptance good. But no it doesn't and "that's fine I guess because it can be finished right?" I thought. If I get to kill her, then I'd be fine with that ending to. But nope. This is where the choice should have come in. You could kill her or spare her. If you killed her, the prisoners would find Lev, help him back to health, and he would hunt you. If you spared her, the ending that happend would happen, but dina would be home waiting for you to return. But no the game is ass and doesn't do that. I have ranted for long enough have a good day and dont buy this game. Expand

Both characters made poor choices at great costs. Now, each will need to deal with the ramifications for those choices.

Story was poor is deciphering the characters. Graphics are great. Gameplay is great. The choice of having Abby as a secondary main character, not good at all. Abby was a beast with an unquenchable lust for violence. It's tough to see the humanity and flow of the story in this game.

Hoping for a better game before the end of the PS4 lifecycle.

AI companion system is improved a bit from previous game but still at times it can just run into enemy sight without enemy ai ever noticing.

Last of Us 2 suffers the most from its narrative direction being a real mess with very much off pacing of story moments. Its lack of understanding of characters which "The Last of Us" mastered on. The first game knew its story is standard and the gameplay is only so much fun till its time and that is the reason why that game focused on the characters and well written dialogue being only 10 - 15 hours long. This game completely forgets about its own main character design with dialogue not so effective and most of the time coming off as cringy and illogical leading to 'SENSELESS' Character Choices that only exists to keep the story moving forward. The story interestingly focuses on the action/choices and its consequences but still failing miserably by contradicting its own point.

There is no light in this darkness of The Last of Us 2 nor there is anyone looking for it in this game. It breaks my heart looking at this tragedy and misery this game is.

To start with - Yes, this game met the standards of GoT season 8. It was the most disappointing experiences I've had since May 19, 2019, when the final episode of GoT went live.

Not to bomb the game right away I'll try to write something positive first.

The graphics, world and gameplay were absolutely great. I remember playing TLOU1 for like third time just to watch the sights and postapocalyptic world. This time it's no different. The graphic artists did their magic and it's state-of-an-art.

So now I can drop the bomb.

The Last od Us is a story-driven game. There are no choices. There are no decisions to be made - and that's ok, as long as the story is good. This time - the writing was so bad that it did butcher the legacy of the first the Last of Us. Uterly-butchered-the-legacy. And they said that ideas cannot die.

I won't be posting any spoilers not to spoil the fun(because You can still have some fun playing this game) for some people but the story is rubbish.

Important moments being marginalized, some retrospectives, main characters we used to bond with senselessly slaughtered - without any backstory and understanding to it - and main antagonist being invisible till the very end. The story development is more like roaming the pseudoopenworld and... exploring. Because that's what drove me in that game. Exploring. Not story. There are no society issues pictured like in the first part. Nothing really shocking (yeah, they removed most of the brutality of the postapocalytptic world from the game), trailers were lies and... the story is just one huge plothole being kept with some very thin strings.

Sorry Naughty Dog. I'm disappointed to an extent I can't even describe.

My heart is broken - You made a game to pass once and then lock it up down in the drawer not to dive into it again.

As someone who did not enjoy the core gameplay loop in the first game at all, finding it outmoded and clunky compared to other titles, it was the story that kept me invested and pushed me through the poor gameplay to see it through to its conclusion. And it was worth it for me.

In this game? Not so much. The mechanics have changed little since the original title, which is a shame,
As someone who did not enjoy the core gameplay loop in the first game at all, finding it outmoded and clunky compared to other titles, it was the story that kept me invested and pushed me through the poor gameplay to see it through to its conclusion. And it was worth it for me.

In this game? Not so much.

The mechanics have changed little since the original title, which is a shame, because that long development time would have been ideal to just tighten up the controls enough to make combat and exploration a little more responsive and enjoyable. This is doubly disappointing as the story makes some very decisive and decidedly poor choices when it comes to pacing and character development, throwing out the foibles and virtues of existing characters, and instead repackaging them as clean blank slates to both serve the narrative direction and give plot armour to newer and less interesting characters.

The mid and latter stages of the game felt more like 'going through the motions' so we can advance the petty revenge story, rather than watching loved characters - both old and new - grow in meaningful ways. I expect this kind of pacing and plot progression in open world RPGs where side quests and grinding are expected and even encouraged, but not in a linear and story-driven action-horror title. I followed this game through to it's conclusion, but honestly? I wish I hadn't.

That said, if you are not motivated by story or writing or character progression and come for the gameplay (power to you), then you'll find a gorgeous world filled with fun little details, immersive ambient sound and lighting and some fairly pretty (albeit dark due to an over-reliance on interior levels) environments which show off the game engine and PS4 hardware in a way which would have some PC owners sweating a little.

For me though, this isn't enough. I can never justify style over substance, and have returned the game for a full refund out of principle. I have only ever been disappointed enough to do this once before, and is not something I take pleasure in doing. I like to support art and artists, and I will never tell you to not spend your money, but all things considered, I would strongly advise not paying full price. Maybe catch this in a sale or on the pre-owned shelf at your local game store of choice.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I cannot understand how on earth mainstream critics have described this game as a masterpiece. It genuinely boggles my mind. I will try and be as fair as I can to the game, and I will say it does some things really very well indeed. But there are so many flaws that the game fails to remotely do the Last of Us 1 any justice whatsoever.
Just to start with, I am very left wing & pro trans rights, so when I hear that people are giving this game poor reviews because they are right wing, anti gay right bigots, that is just such nonsense (I mean maybe a very small handful are, but most are not), I feel it's designed to almost guilt people into not giving this game a poor rating.
I actually didn't feel this game was trying to throw and SJW agenda down my throat, or trans issues, or gay rights. The only thing forced on us is "revenge = bad". The characters were all the types of people we would likely find in most workplaces or communities, so that was not an issue.
Now that's out of the way, the game itself.
This game is, for the most part, absolutely stunning. It is quite possibly the most gorgeous game to hit any console. The character models are really nicely done and perfectly animated. The world is superbly designed and I found it beautiful, even in its state of decay. Top Marks to N.Dog for this.
But unfortunately, almost all of the marks I can give this game are just for that alone.
A great game does not have to have great graphics, there are plenty of decent games with mediocre graphics.
Last of us 1 looked good. But this was not the reason it was so loved by its fans (including myself). The reason I loved the game was the story. It was so well written, perfectly balanced between heart-wrenching and uplifting, and the ending was one of the best ever, allowing us to empathise with the "bad guys" that want to sacrifice Ellie for humanity, and Joels love for Ellie, and his selfishness in wanting her to live. Amazing. Beyond that, TLOU1 was largely mediocre. Graphics were OK, exploration was fine, combat was not too bad, crafting was a bit dull, but all of that was OK because of the story.
Now, back to part 2. The graphics as mentioned, are wonderful, a massive jump ahead, but nothing else has moved forward. Combat is still just OK, the stealth part of the game is alright at best, the exploration is actually in large sections just dull. But this time, the story fails to pull the game together and save it from utter mediocrity.
Starting with the fate of Joel. Lets just throw out his character entirely. Lets just pretend that after years of survival, Joel just decides to become a complete muppet and abandon all of the survival skills he has ver built up.
Then there is his demise, taken out by a person who he has literally just saved, just to give shock value I would guess, but it seemed such a lazy narrative choice. Hated it. It also makes you instantly dislike Abby, I mean, we have loved Joel for 7 years and in 2 hours have seen him brutally killed. But then you have to play her, I think to make you realise she is not so bad and driven by the revenge of her fathers death, fine, ok. The issue is, her character is so thinly written, a 2D, poorly fleshed out person. You have no connection with her and so spend maybe a third of the game forced to play a person that you do not like or care about.
Other game characters are equally poorly written, predictable, you end up just not caring about them.
When you play Ellie, its mostly just her, a sad shadow of the Ellie from TLOU1. The flashbacks with Joel are done well, but the game is worse for not having the dynamic and light hearted fun moments that made the first game so special.
Then there is the violence. It didn't bother me so much, but is largely over the top and often needlessly gratuitous in its deployment. But that's not what bothered me. What finally put the nail in the coffin for me was the fact that Ellie kills left right and centre, whether its women, men, dogs, there is no issue. But at the climax of the story she has her chance to avenge Joel and she just chooses that moment to forgive and forget. Really!??
It also doesn't help that you find Joels death was all for nothing, he was making amends for his decisions in game 1. Arrggggghhhh. Really poor choice of a way to kill off a main character.
In summary, (like this review I imagine) the game is long winded, poorly paced with unlikable or badly written characters. The gameplay is just fine, nothing more than you'd expect from a large studio, but not impressive in an y way. And the ending just sucks. But it does look nice!

how naughty dog abusing their power to copyright strike against critism, weirdly 10/10 score from mainstream game reviewer. and how some of their employer assuming bad review as bots really a big turn off to me to try to give it decent score.

overall, it's kinda shame how once a big amusing games turn out to be mediocre in the sequel. totally out of fans's expectation. for a game that prioritize in stories, the story kinda lacking. still might be fun to play though if player just ignore the story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolute waste of time and money. They took everything the players loved about the first The Last Of Us and replaced with a pretentious storyline that contradicts itself. I'll explain this later so those who don't want to be spoiled (although you're not really missing anything good) can stop reading.

The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is solid. Kudos to the people who worked on those. Unfortunately, graphics and gameplay won't be able to save The Last Of Us 2. Most of those who bought this game (including me) did it for the story, so it's no surprise that people are hating this game, since it lacks what we wanted the most: a good story.

Mind you, good story doesn't mean happy ending. This game could be as dark as you could imagine and people would still love it if only it had a good story.

The biggest difference I can appreciate between "The Last Of Us" and "The Last Of Us Part II" is it's tone. Not in the sense of the first one being about love and the second about hate, like Neil Druckmann suggested, but rather the first one being a mature, dark story, and the second one being a gruesome, edgy fanfiction written by a teenager in his/her interpretation of what horror means.

Every time something bad happened to our protagonists, I couldn't help but roll my eyes at how hard Naughty Dog was trying to get emotional. They wanted us to feel sad, but the only thing they got from me was anger, then boredom, then anger, and finally, a feeling of "What the hell just happened?".

If you're wondering whether you should play the game or not, I'd recommend you to get it on sale, or just ignore it exists. If you liked the first game, this one is going to be a tremendous letdown.

    SPOILERS FOR PART II:

-The ending of Part II contradicts the entirety of the game. Supposedly, the game is triying to show us how revenge is a cycle that leads nowhere and it only causes more pain. However, the ending show us otherwise. Abby, who avenged her father, gets a second chance with the Fireflies and a new family. Ellie, who didn't avenge Joel, looses everything she fought for. No Joel, no Tommy, no Dina, no Jesse... nothing. She ends up alone, which was her biggest fear.
If anything, this game shows us that trying to be morally superior to others only leads to a void in your life, and that, as much as it is "the right thing to do", nobody is going to be there to praise you for being politically correct.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. pros: same gameplay from the first game more or less, so if you liked that prepare for more

    graphics obviously voice acting

    cons:
they ruined characters from the previous game with strange decisions that made no sense for that character

bad new characters that i couldnt invest myself in or care about (every single character in the abby storyline)

weird pacing where they kill a character and then make you flashback to see who that person was

the biggest blueballs moment i have ever had from the horrible ending

torture porn near the end of the game for no reason (ellie gets impaled on a tree branch and this does nothing, they just wanted to be edgy i guess) and just strange things for shock value that do nothing story wise

but seriously this game is not the 10/10 that those cave men said it was. they ruined the last of us and i dont believe that this game is canon. it felt more like a fanfiction than a last of us game. like the writing in this game was nowhere near as entertaining and believable than in the first game. like listening to dialogue between bill and joel is so entertaining but nothing ever comes close to that level in this game. that coupled with the horrible new “characters” made it even worse. they are just random people and their only character traits are that they either make jokes sometimes (dina) or they were loyal (jesse) just overall an awful experience because half the game you play as a horribly written character that nobody cares about. this choice was a horrible gameplay choice as well because it completely resets everything and gives you a new weapon set and upgrades and things. it felt so bad to restart everything and i hated everything about playing as abby.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I will blandly start with the pros and the cons:

    pros:
    amazing soundtrack
stunning graphics (really pushed the jet engine in my PS4)
    fitting atmosphere
    really scary horror elements
    solid boss fights
    amazing flashbacks

    middleground:
    fluid gameplay

    cons:
    gamebreaking bugs
    introduction of shallow characters
    misshandling of tons of characters
very basic run of the mill story
deceptive trailers and interviews by the developers
alteration of the first game's story, just so the current story can be justified
still really dumb ai and not enough use of new elements (-> the dogs)
    finale was unsatisfactory

This leads me to a score of 4/10. Now remember, I write this from a perspective of a player, that has enjoyed the previous game. As a standalone game, without knowing anything about TLOU, TLOU2 deserves 2 points more in my opinion.
My review won't have much of a structure, it's not a classic review. It's rather about random things that come to mind, while trying to adress each and every one of those points. I will most definitely forget to adress some things. Bear in mind that I am no professional reviewer.

So let's start with the good things... The game looks stunning! There isn't really that much to add. Naughty Dog really has pulled everything out of the PS4s repertoire, so much that you even experience (very very few) framedrops, which don't really bother me that much tbh, since the last of us is no competitive shooter. The whole presentation is amazing and really gives you apocalyptic vibes. Good apocalyptic vibes, because even though the game plays after the downfall of humanity, its still so vibrant and detailed. It gives it such a nice atmosphere, every locations is a stunner, it overloads your senses to the point where it's nearly overstimulating. Same goes for the music. It underlines everything that's good about the appearance and amplifies it tenfold. It also added to the "horror" aspect of the game. Yes I know, it isn't a horror game per se, but the dread you felt throughout encounters in a big rotten and empty city were just chilling. You were always on edge, especially since every non-human encounter was very unpredictable. Now we get to the bossfights, which also were a stregth of the game. they were perfectly stage, they felt heavy and "plastic" and they were challenging.
Now this sounds all good and fine and it seems that the last of us II is a perfect continuation to the beloved first adventure. However Appearance and playability isn't everything. The most important aspect of TLOU was it's characters, it's story, the relationship you have formed. None of that is good in the second game. None. Naughty dog introduced a bunch of new characters, at least half of them were treated as NPCs. Once they died an unspectacular death, they have been simply forgotten -> Jesse and Manny. Most act absolutely irrational, as our beloved "protagonist" and his brother. Joel and Tommy had the strongest downgrade in rationality, considering they still live in a post apocalyptic world. They treated an armed group of people seemingly as acquaintances, being incredibly relaxed and giving out info about themselves. Info that inevitably lead to Joel's death by a golf club (which is quite funny since they implied - Trailer and Interview - that Joel would be a longer part of this game). All that, because NPCs daughter, Abby, (the murderer) from the first game wanted revenge. Yes, that is essentially the whole plot. Yet another badly written revenge story. The character you played throughout the first game, just dies an incredibly stupid, undeserved and unspectacular death, so naughty dog can introduce their boring revenge story trope and a very boring (Antagonist). I wrote antagonist like that, because Abby isn't really portrayed as Antagonist, but a protagonist of her own story now. You have to play with the Joel replacement and you get gaslighted into feeling compassion for her: Her playing cutely with dogs, giving some flashbacks regarding her father's death. Also... regarding father's death: To make the story work, naughty dog changed some things from the first game's plot. They completely changed the doctor's ethnicity from african american to white american. I have absolutely no idea why. Then they started to feed you the narrative that Ellie was a guaranteed cure, even though she wasn't. They essentially changed parts of TLOU1 to make their fanfiction-tier story in TLOU2 work. Then they created this artificial infighting between Abby and Joel, because HE prevented HER death and hence HE risked the lifes of thousands of people.
I felt no sympathy for Abby whatsoever btw. The story felt forced and the game merely used TLOU1 as a stepping stone for their entirely new setup.
Now to the finale... Ellie has fought through hundreds of people to get to Abby, the final fight occurs and what happens? Nothing, she lets her go. Bravo!
The only good things were the Ellie and Joel flashbacks

Not only did they kill Joel early in the game, but they also forced us to play Abby (his killer) for half the game and also forcing us to like this hated character with an absolutely retarded and meaningless backstory but also killing Jessie (an unimportant side-character), Tommy (He doesn't actually die but we think he does at first), badly wounding Dina (another side-character that has no meaning) and beating up Ellie in combat. After that Abby gets enslaved by a random slavers-trib, Ellie tracks her down, frees her first, then fighting against her in combat, almost drowning her (Ellie also looses 2 fingers) only to just let her go afterward. What the Game of Thrones Season 8 **** is this???.

In the end Ellie ends up alone, unable to play guitar, and wanders off into the wilderness. I can't describe in words how utterly disappointed I am in a game that "could" have become one of the best games ever made. The only reason for the 3 points is the graphics (which are astonishing) and the gameplay which is fun but only as Ellie. (still feels like the same as from 2013).

If you want to play a game that feels like the last of us, It's worth buying but if you came for the story. You'd be better off watching season 8 of Game of Thrones than with this ****

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. That ending, though. It was all good, but... that ending, though.

The game does such a good job, such a GOOD JOB of Ellie's story. Yes, Joel's death is nasty and brutal, and that puts a lot of people off. But it gets to such a high point of tension...

And then you're playing the other side. And in moments, you find out why they did what they did. But it doesn't end. Nope, you have to play forwards to where you left off with Ellie. And you think "hey, what a way to end it".

But that's not the end, not even close.

A lovely epilogue follows, and you think "cool, nice of it to let me enjoy this moment of peace and calm after all that horror".

And then it makes THAT horror. And the game continues. You're back to Abby, desperately searching for remnants of a happier past. And that sinking feeling you have by this point - that every character that gets introduced gets theirs, horribly and brutally - gets realised, again. And then you're Ellie, in the same place, and it feels... off. Like, "huh? But why?" off. And then BAM, that feeling is back and realised. Again.

And THAT'S not the ending either.

Nope, somehow and beyond reason at this point, you slog on. And you watch as the story just... falls apart. "But if that's how that story ends, why did they do that just moments before?" you'll think, and then it gives you a cutscene to remind you:

There is no happiness in this world. Not for the characters. Not for you.

It's just, well, frustrating that a game goes to such great lengths to make you care, actually care, about a selection of characters. And then it kills that care off, at length, by doing the same thing again and again - hurting them to try make you care more. To the point where, any character it shows you caring for, you think "I wonder what kills them brutally in front of my character?" It just ends so sour, and more to the point it just makes zero sense for what has happened up until then. Just... why? It was all over. Why do that? After doing what you did?

There were some mediocre things gameplay wise but overall as a sotry driven game it was one of the best at the time and i think its still holds up very well. Why did I mention all of this? Well i think for a triple A titlle, for such a household name as naughty dog this game is a disgrace and here is why. Keep in mind this game was in development for 7 years. Lets start with gameplay. Obviously its better than the first tlou but we have to expect this with such a long time of development but still the game is too repetetive in the end you are doing basiclly the same thing over and over. There's no variety. Weapons are pretty much the same as in the first game. Game mechanics were expanded a bit but it just feels like the reeskin of the first game. Obviusly the graphics are great there sonthing bad i can say about that. Lastly the story. This story is just inexplicable. This story is just based around the fact that Abby was super lucky and dumb at the same time and somehow found Joel and then him and Tommy just had a stroke or something and forgot what world they live in and went to a camp of total strangers and acted irrationaly. There is NO single explenation for this other than that it's a bad story writing. Story is not in order which on its own it wouldnt be so bad but they did such a bad job with it is just unbelivable however approved it is a profesionall. This is a problem because they want to paint Abby as Elliev2 nut it just doesnt work because they firstlly killed of Joel in stupid way and then when we were in the END decided to let you play her?!!?? XDDD. Lastly there is a lot of manipulation i cant pass indifferently. Abby plays with dogs/Ellie kills them, Abby rescues children/Ellie kills pregnant woman. In conclusion as for triple a title for Naughty Dog and for a second instalment to this story this game is trash simply because it was made lazy. Expand

I am slightly idealizing here but I hope you get my point. All of that clicked with me even despite the fact that Joel was an anti hero after all.

Which is absolutely stunning achievement in bad story writing discipline is that they made Joel look way less as anti hero in sequel. Despite all efforts to bring the completely opposite effect.

Maybe it's because every single character in this game is a lesser character than in previous game. Scenes presented in Part II have an emotional impact at first glance but it is all ripped apart when you start to understand how poor the writing is.

The devs and artists did a great job with world, animations, models or graphics. Actors gave a truly amazing performance. And it is so sad that the plot ruined it all.

Game that were supposed to bring diversity and characters from minority represents them as madmen and cold blood killers. It so awful and sad at the same time.

I've got plenty of more problems with it, ex. false advertisement or repetitive game play but it all could have been overlooked if the story would be at least average.

God this is first time that I would really love to see at the end that it all was just a bad dream. I would truly appreciate that plot twist.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Las of us is undoubtedly one of the best narrative driven games that I've ever played. For seven whole years I have been hyped for a sequel now, and I wasn't completely disappointed. Naughty Dog did deliver on the graphics and gameplay front, a lot. I have absolutely no complaints for them from that standpoint. However, the game begins to fall apart from the second part of the story development arc. I'll go more in detail about this now, so warning for major spoilers ahead.

The decision to kill Joel and create a whole plot based on revenge was, although a bit generic and cliché, a good one to create a sense and thirst for vengeance and revenge in the player. That way we could 100% relate to Ellie and as a result her motivations. The decision about letting us play as the killer of Joel was also a good one, albiet was not executed properly at all, which is as good as it being a bad decision. I get what the writer was trying to do, to create a moral gray ground for the reader. To make the reader empathize with both characters motivations. But I really don't think they succeeded on that, and that's because of the simple fact that this new character Abby was not developed in the story arc. The players never got enough exposure to her, and so could never try to find the spark that would trigger emotions for her. The player however has been exposed to Ellie and Joel for an entire game in the past, and so ended up biased and hating Abbie. I think if the writer had just planned to let the player play as Abbie from the start, right from her childhood. Without ever mentioning Joel or Ellie for the first part of the game, but then put forth Ellie and let her play and kill the characters that we had spent half the game forming a bond with, maybe then this idea would've worked?

Even so, I don't think that adding a generic revenge quest was the right decision. Like, of all the possible plot movers, why did the writer decide to use the most generic and bland and already overused plot opener? Maybe they could've made the plotline where Jackson is overrun by a massive horde of infected, where Joel sacrifices himself to save Ellie. Most people die, and the few that remain alive start to fight amongst themselves from the pressure, and two sides are formed. Then Ellie and her friends end up killing the other side. Now they have to run from the infected, and have to try and survive anyway possible. With nowhere to go, the struggle for survival as they keep scavenging and hunting and barely manage to keep themselves alive from the infected as they roam the ruins of the world, and maybe at this point of the plot slowly people start dying one by one, until its just Ellie left alone. Then we could have a flashback of her saying that the biggest fear she has is of being left alone, which by a cruel twist of irony, she is now forced to face. As she trudges along, hoping to find some sort of settlement who's rumours she heard was somewhere very far apart. The last of us, the original game had us traveling a lot. Struggling to survive from place to place and the sense of desperation and the fact that death was literally around any corner was a very real threat. It was something that attracted players to it. The sequel, does have that feeling too but I think its completely lost and falls flat, since the motivating factor to be put I to that life and death situation, that is revenge, just does not sit well. And even if the writer wanted to make this a game about revenge, then they should've let us play as only Ellie, who does manage to loll everyone, even Abbie, but in the process begins to lose her own morality and her own mind. She realizes that she has become a monster, that she is just a shell of a human being and that she has become just like Joel. She struggles to find peace even after taking revenge, as her guilty conscience for what she's done slowly starts to eat her up from the inside. Maybe something like that would've been a good flow of conflicting emotions, as the player themselves struggle to play as Ellie, as they keep watching her slowly lose her mind and go completely crazy with PTSD she caused for herself.

Another fact that I can't overlook is the complete lack of any or minimalism character development in the relationships of Ellie with her friends or even the fact that she hated Joel. There were minimal interactions between Ellie and Joel, which I was hoping to see more of. Also even if there were interactions, it always lacked the feeling of love and emotions that should've been there. It just felt...empty and fake and forced. Overall, Naughty Dog did a splendid job from the game design and graphics perspective, but a huge part of the franchise; the narrative experience is where everything falls apart. A major piece of the puzzle for the last of us franchise is its narrative experience, and they couldn't succeed in that department. It pains me to see the sequel I was hyped for end like this. 4/10

Some of the levels are stunningly atmospheric and make the game play so tense and immersive. The soundtrack was also great. The signature Last of Us music and sound design adds another level to the very haunting, heartbreaking and terrifying aspect of this game.
But, and this is a big but, my experience was spoilt by a poorly written and executed story line that if edited and reordered, could have made this game almost perfect. Having Joel's brutal death so early into the game and to then be forced to play as his killers character was beyond frustrating. With no sense of how long this section would be I rushed through most of it until it dawned on me that this was going to be a very long slog. I tried really hard to put my frustrations aside and enjoy the experience but Abby's very long, cringey, back and forth, pointless story line focusing on characters that you already know are dead was incredibly boring. If we had been introduced to Abby's character at the beginning, with much shorter playable sections of her and her friends, intertwining and crossing paths with much longer sections of game play with Joel and Ellie, leading to either a final fight at Jackson or a cliffhanger that Abby, upon crossing paths with Ellie throughout the game, had discovered the location of Joel (the scene in the snow where Owen and Abby are looking out over Jackson would have made a great ending cliff hanger), at least the player could have grown and even empathised with Abby's character throughout the game. It felt like i had jumped from the first to a third game, not that I was playing a second game. If Joel's death were placed at the end of the game, this could have paved the way for the third dark and brutal, Seattle based revenge story that this game was with Ellie torn between seeking revenge or sacrificing her life for the cure.
The first Last of Us was fantastic, almost perfect and this was such a crappy way to follow on from that beautiful story. The Last of us 2 has pissed all over what what so wonderfully achieved in the first. I am so envious of the players that came away with a positive experience after playing this game, I really am. I wanted so much to love this game but for me, a very poorly ordered and executed story line has ruined what could have been a truly amazing gaming experience.

The 4 points is because it's a technical masterpiece. Gameplay is pretty much the same with small improvements here and there but the graphics detail, the soundtrack, level design are fantastic. Kudos to the technical team here. You guys knocked it out of the park. Those 6 points are lost because the story and its writing is the most important aspect of TLOU and it has failed at just about every point here.

In short, technical masterpiece but story-driven game gets low score because of its horrendous, hamfisted story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The original Last of Us has been one of my favorite games ever since it came out. I've played through it on every difficulty and multiple new game pluses. The same can not be said of Last of Us part 2. Gameplay wise there aren't many bugs and the game seems stable enough (only 1 crash just after the halfway point) but it fails to bring anything new to the table. The jumping mechanics and "improved stealth" barely work and the AI is just as bad as the original Last of Us on ps3. On the subject of the plot. It's nothing new. Tales of revenge gone bad have been around for as long as mankind has told stories. Violence breeds violence and dig two graves. We all know how that goes. Last of us 2 however has the brilliant idea that if they make us play as both sides of this fight we're going to get attached to both and want to see as many of them survive as posible. This might have worked but unfortunately the group Ellie is hunting down gets only a few minutes of screentime each and it all seems a bit forced. There's also the minor insignificant fact that we WATCHED THEM BLOW JOEL'S LEG OFF THEN BEAT HIS HEAD IN WITH A GOLF CLUB. If they hadn't made us watch that and instead held that back until the final confrontation and kept us guessing as to why Ellie is hunting them down that might have gone over better. As it is the entire second half just feels like an insult to the first game and the people who enjoyed it. Things come to a head and Abby lets a severely wounded Ellie and her companions leave with a warning to never let het see them again. A year later Tommy finds out where Abby is hiding and sends Ellie on one last ride.

The final chapter in Santa Barbara was one big let down. I was half hopeing for it to be that big rage fueled massacre just like the hospital in the first game, a chance to use all those upgraded weapons youve spent the entire game working on without having to worry about ammo or of it's better to stealth past and leave this group alive but it wasn't. Instead you sneak through a compound of raiders that call themselves "rattlers". There are a few interesting bits where you can use chained up infected to kill some of the rattlers and spice up the fight with a rouge 3rd element but it ends up working against you more often than not. Finally it all comes down to a single fight, a weakened Ellie suffering from internal injuries and having lost far more blood than is healthy against a starved, dehydrated nearly dead Abby. In the end both sides just walk away Abby cut up and bleeding and Ellie having lost 2 fingers. Finally Ellie returns to find the new life she had build has been destroyed in her absence.

I want to like this game, I really do. But as it stands now with broken AI and a poor story that we've all heard before I just can't bring myself to rate it anywhere above a 4.5/10 and even with that I feel like I'm being too kind.

I was very excited about this. I can not even put it in my words. My hype did continue even though I was unfortunately exposed to the leaks. I knew there will be a devastating scene where our beloved Joel would be murdered brutally. Even though knowing this, I was eager to play the game. I believed that the professional scriptwriting team knew what they are doing.
The first problem about the game is it starts as a really slow game and paces up by not rushing it. However this was not a problem for me and probably for the fans of the first game, at least that is what I thought since we waited for 7 years to get our hands on this game and the slow build-up is a foreseeable part for a great story. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong here, the game is top-notch in terms of graphics, sounds and combat mechanics. I can not even think if these great features were flourished with a unique and touching story. I see and congratulate the brave ideology about making the hated protagonist as the second part of the game. However, it just did not work for me and probably for most of the fans.
For example, one of the best sequences in the game was the Sky Bridge and the Hotel part for me. The design was just perfect. However, the reasoning and the fact that you were playing the unfavored protagonist made it a very ordinary episode.
There was an immense effort to make us empathize with Abby. Underlining her likable bits so strongly made it a very hard thing to adapt. Trying to achieve the same emotional response similar to the first game with the relationship between Abby and Lev, even though they tried it very hard, the problem was there was no reasoning under it. This made it very hard to buy it even though I wanted to.
The final sequence was just a mess. I understand the morals they are trying so hard to shove at our faces, however, for that, I can go and watch a random movie or tv series that does it a hundred times better. It was highly unnecessary and just very sad.
One last thing to mention is false advertising. I know that they have a right to do this but seriously? I believe this should be a serious point which should be criticized as abusing their fans trust.

Im in the middle with this game, I love the first half, graphics are amazing, I enjoyed the combat and the environment was beautifully designed, old abandoned museums, aquariums, parks, arcades, and churches. I found myself stopping and stairing at the beauty in every detail I loved the flashbacks with ellie and her gameplay, however this took a real bad turn at the halfway point. WHY did we have to play as abby for half the game, i get that they wanted us to see her side of things and to sympathize with her but i just found myself hating every moment with her, and I think its very misleading to show only ellie in all the trailers like shes the the person you play as and them make us play abby, also her model was very awkward looking she didn't look female or even normal, she had bigger biceps then the men very disappointed with the second half and the story. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am very conflicted about this game.
The game itself is gorgeous. The story isn't that bad either - mediocre at best, but not bad. But the story telling itself, the spacing, the introduction of the characters is so incredibly HORRIBLE!
This could've been a masterpiece if made differently. Let's just ignore all the plot holes and weird out of character moments and focus on the plot.
First impressions are important. Now, what kind of first impression is "look at this new character, she acts like an **** and kills Joel at the start of the game, whoops. Anyway, you are supposed to like her and play as her in the second half!" Just awesome. Now imagine a game where the first half introduces you to all the new characters, to Abby, to the dynamic between Joel and Ellie, and you enjoy it very much. You can sympathize with everyone and you are very curious what would happen because the game is gorgeous and full of emotion and conflict. And then the thing happens - Abby kills Joel, and the player is already fond of Abby and feels very conflicted about the whole situation.
Maybe it's just me, but this way it could've been more bearable.
But no, the character writing and the story telling was horrendous. The time skips and flashbacks were very random and out of place and "too late". I basically hated almost everyone and didn't feel a thing during their very dramatic death. I despise Abby and her friends.
I've waited so long for this game. It could've been so good, it had all the potential. But they messed up. I'm not happy.

I was sold initially, I thought that The Last of Us Part II would live up to the previous game and improve upon it significantly in both gameplay and story so I stayed away from the rumors, leaks and even trailers so that I could form my own opinion of the game by playing it instead of being influenced by other peoples biases and opinions.

But after approximately 30 hours of gameplay I have to ask - what story where Naughty Dog trying to tell?

I was willing to put aside the cruel event near the start set things into motion, disrespectful as it was to the characters that we as players have grown to identify with and have an attachment to, I felt that the decisions made by a character in the first game; not to mention the unpredictability of the world they live in caused the events of the second game to take place but that same characters' actions were also the catalyst for the overarching theme behind setting both of the primary protagonists down a similar path. That theme was vengeance, or so I thought and this is why I ask - what story were Naughty Dog trying to tell?

From the beginning of the game and throughout, the characters that the player already identifies with and has some emotional attachment to, feed the players with a lust for revenge but when you, playing as Elly are finally standing in front of the people she has sworn to kill she is held back by her creators (by which I mean Naughty Dog) which means that we as the player can't help but feel deprived of any real satisfaction and the journey of vengeance that we were sold on and coaxed into just results in frustration and anger for the player at the inability to take any meaningful action. There is no satisfaction to be had, no outcome where the person sitting in front of the TV feels any less angry at how these interactions play out. The closest thing to what we as the player expected is probably the Nora event and even that tried to blueball us.

And it just goes on from there, knowing that at crucial moments, the game takes the control out of your hands and at a certain point you may as well watching a movie because the player feels completely powerless.

The other half of this is Naughty Dog providing us context in the form of the other primary Protagonist, Abby by providing perspective and her backstory. I can only assume they did this because they wanted us, the player to empathize with her on some level. Props to Naughty Dog for the attempt but her story should've been nutshelled because putting the player in her shoes for half the game in a bid flesh out her story to get us to identify with her or forgive her in some way or even understand her actions didn't pan out. She felt 2 dimensional. She's a human, she has emotions and feelings and a personality but where was any of that? It needed to be expressed in some way but that never really happened. Everyone has a story, everyone has their reasons for doing the terrible things they've done and none of that matters because in their world people live and die and bad situations are waiting around every corner. That is their reality. So again, while I let that crucial and cruel event at the start of the game go, why was Abby's story necessary? I didn't relate to her any more at the end of the game than I did at the start, it changed nothing and added nothing and to be brutally honest, Abby's story felt like a waste of time, it felt like a story that didn't need to be told at least in half a game.

Why a score of 4? I didn't have any particular issues with gameplay or mechanics although some non rope throwing or ladder moving puzzles would've been welcome while exploring the game world. So this game based off of the graphics, audio, immersion, collectibles and effort put into the game to make it feel special would've earned it at least an 8 or 9 right? The last of us had one crucial ingredient in it and that was its story. It held everything else together and I could look past any niggles I had with any aspect of the game BECAUSE OF THE STORY. I absolutely adored the few interactions between Elly and Joel in this game, they were wonderful and I wanted more of that but instead we had a weird clown gun taped to our hands and when we pull the trigger it would fire bullets and kill as many of the inconsequential enemies infected and human alike but when it came time to pull the trigger against the real antagonists, from the players perspective a depressing dribble of water would come out instead.

The gameplay is fantastic and I enjoyed the combat systems, environment etc. But, I didn't buy this game for the visual experience. I bought it for the story, and boy let me tell you what a let down.
Story starts off leaving off with the events of TLOU and starts to build on a dynamic world that ND has created. Here is where it all goes terribly wrong. Joel gets killed extremely early in the game, and I was heartbroken and turned off from trying to complete the game. But hey, I thought why not give it a chance. The story is filled with shells of characters trying to fill into a terribly written story line in a post apocalyptic world. The things I loved the most about TLOU is the relationship between Joel and Ellie, and how much they have bonded. To be robbed of continuing that story is absolute garbage. Joel's death was a complete retcon of his character that they have built from the original game. Then to top it all off I have to play as someone that ruthlessly murdered him? Oh ND I expected better. The only emotional connections I had were the Ellie flashbacks. Graphics, gameplay, and visuals were amazing. Story was pretty meh.

I played TLOU1 in 2014 and it easily became my favorite game and was clearly ahead of its time, but it seems the writers at NaughtyDog completely missed what made that game so memorable. I waited 6 years for this sequel, and it was incredibly disappointing to say the least :(

I will start off by saying that the graphics/visuals, opportunities for further exploration, and flashbacks were some of my favorite moments; as well as playing as Ellie in the first half of the game. These are the only reasons this game even deserves as high as a 5. However, the story on the other hand….

*Joel dying in the first couple hours of the game......in TLOU1 Joel was the type of guy to literally trust nobody and take no **** from anyone. Why on Earth would he think to help a random straggler in Abby and think following her somewhere was smart? AND THEN TELL EVERYONE HIS REAL NAME?? Like c’mon, anyone in their right mind would use a code name or something at the very least and not be so naïve, especially Joel.

*Abby's Story/Ellie Ending: This game haphazardly attempts to get you to empathize with Abby and the fact that her dad was the surgeon that Joel killed at the end of the first game when he saved Ellie from the Fireflies. Guess what? I DON'T CARE....I can't understand the game showing her kill Joel in the beginning and then 10 hours later showing us why she did it. At that point, she is my least favorite character and I do not care about her in the slightest. And the fact that we have to play as her for the entire second half of the game is ridiculous and a boring/repetitive revenge journey. They should stick to a single storyline for an entire game and not split 20+hours between Ellie and Abby. I even let Abby die a few times when I played as her because that's how little I cared for her character or story.
Not to mention the fact that Ellie went through this huge revenge plot and kills everyone in the group, except her. Wtf is that? Track Abby down once, let her live. Track Abby down YEARS LATER and still let her live?? Like I understand the ultimate journey is supposed to emphasize that Ellie lost everything along the way, but it's just such a horrible way to end the game. Seemed completely empty imo.

*I believe another reason the story was so obviously misrepresentative of the first game was that there was too much virtue spotlighting. NaughtyDog tried soooo hard to make sure they were politically correct over actually providing the emotional connection necessary to keep my attention and love for the game. How does an entire group, in the middle of an apocalypse, care if someone is gay or transgender? Literally makes no sense to me and they forced Lev out... Abby and Lev are not the duo I want to see in a game; if it's not Ellie or Joel, what's the point?
And let me preface all that by saying that I LOVED Ellie and Dina's relationship. It was one of my favorite moments and I feel like that wasn't explored fully, nor were the actual stories of Dina and Jesse. More time should have been put into their stories.

Overall, I just feel NaughtyDog completely dropped the ball with so much filler and nonsense and lost everything about what made TLOU1 so extraordinary. They should have catered to the fan base that played that unforgettable first game all those years ago, and it certainly feels like they forgot what made that game so successful. This game is not replayable unless you’re a glutton for punishment.

*Ultimately, after playing the game, I think a better storyline would have been something like the disbanded Firefly group getting back together and infiltrating Jackson. Maybe, they kidnap Joel and take him prisoner and then we have to follow Ellie (+ Dina, Jesse, or Tommy) travel and fight to eventually save him and bring him back. I think the fact that Naughty Dog completely destroyed the Joel-Ellie Dynamic and eliminated the emotional connection of TLOU1 made the story of TLOU2 so terrible.

Please Remaster the game and save the series!!

I was incredibly disappointed with this game. At first they hyped up gameplay to be so much more grander than the orginal game when I reality it's almost exactly the same except for some "platforming". The story was very disappointed, it felt like bad writing. It was like they made a plot and forced the characters to fit into it even if it didn't make sense. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off, I played this game with high hopes, staying away from trailers, leaks, and reviews prior to playing it. I came to it no spoilers or information being given to me.

With that said, the best part of this game is the graphics and gameplay. The graphics are beautiful-- not matter how you look at it. The animations for the scenery is top notch-- running into snow and seeing it fall off a tree or leaving footprints behind you. Seeing a squirrel run up the side of the tree was amazing within the graphics. The audio also is really well done-- the gun fires and the sfx really create a dynamic environment.

The gameplay is fun in the beginning-- being able to duck down further than the first one allows for more variety in how to traverse the environments. Being able to break in windows and move at your own free will was the best part. There is one moment that you actually are able to roam Seattle and visit different areas of the map which was by far the best part imo. There are some issues with gameplay-- mostly to do with how it progresses. I loved the first half because I usually am the type to sneak around and kill enemies through stealth-- halfway through the game it sets it up so you no longer can do that. The stealth is thrown away for a stuck in a room and fight it out type style. I have never been a fan of these game set-ups as it takes away from how different plays engage with the game.

Now comes to the hard part-- the stories and character. As a member of the LGBT+ community, I am all for inclusion; however, the moment you start feeling like characters are a checklist of things the devs thought people would like-- it is a problem. Whenever I started to enjoy a character, they ended up getting shot-- this happens more than once. The characters from the past games are barely in it excluding Ellie. I would have killed for more Tommy and Ellie interactions. In the case of Joel, I understand that his death was going to happen. Putting it at the beginning of the game was a bad choice. You have little to no interaction with his character or even get to play as him. Not only that, but having a character spit on Joel after he is brutally murdered is like spitting on the original fans for like a white male protagonist. Ellie's love interest is manipulative and disgusting. The moment Ellie starts speaking of her ptsd, Dina shoots her down and tells her to "get over it". This is not a good portrayal of an LGBT+ Character. I had to look up Jesse's name because while I was interested in his character-- they killed him off after only an hour of interaction. Ellie herself isn't even similar to the kid in the first game-- she barely makes jokes and tries to make things lighter than what they are. I get that she is traumatized, but I barely see the little girl that I enjoyed from the first game in her character.

Then comes the worst decision the devs could make-- you begin playing as Abby the worst character I have seen in awhile. She has the personality of a cardboard box. You are supposed to relate to her yet she doesn't show any remorse or regret. Ellie accidentally kills a pregnant woman which makes her absolutely sick to her stomach compared to Abby who almost kills Dina who is pregnant because REVENGE without a second thought. You are supposed to feel bad when one of her friends calls her the worst person ever-- but I agree with the friend. Even after she has learned of her mistakes she goes and MURDERS all the people she knew from her group to save a kid she found a few days before. I don't even remember her friends name which shows how important they were to the plot. Owen is the only other character I remember the name to and he was just annoying. I did not nor ever do I want a love triangle in my video games-- it is an overdone trope that is tedious and boring. Most of the characters can pretty much be summed up to one character trait and that is it.

Yara and Lev probably had the most intriguing ideas behind their characters prior to them butchering their plot line. The idea of them running from a Religious cult because Lev wanted to be a boy? I would be far more interested in following Yara trying to escape with Lev then doing anything with Abby. The story of Lev having to murder his own mother left a bad taste in my mouth-- only to have Yara pretty much murdered two minutes later. The writing and characters are on par with the last season of Game of Thrones-- shock is more valuable than good character development.

All around the story is horrible. In the beginning I was okay with the revenge plot. It is over-done and tiresome; however, I could at least see some semblance of an idea. Once you get past that, it is a chore to work through the rest. The ending was also crap. You have Ellie saying she has to leave to get revenge, murder a bunch of people only to let Abby go.

    Go play Days Gone instead.

The graphics are amazing as well, that also needs to be said.....
The story is not well made and this is where people are having trouble. Joel's character was beloved by so many people and was killed like John Connor in Terminator Dark Fate. I avoided spoilers and didnt believe them when people were saying that this happens with Joel. The game play and tense moments are amazing! The story is 3 though.

Despite 4 points out of 10, I’m not sure if I still have any positive emotions after this game. It is unfortunate that the titanic work of artists, designers and other people responsible for the technical part and gameplay crashed into a strange vision of Neil Druckmann regarding the plot and lore.

If you liked the first one because of the atmosphere and gameplay you will like this game. But for me this game was a hard pile to swallow after the first 2 hours. I don't love the first one because of its slightly above average gameplay but because the characters and writing brought out so much emotion into the game something that no other narrative driven game has done for me. Overall the game looks great, has slightly improved gameplay and great atmosphere but other than that its a let down. Nothing in this game to set it apart from other narrative games so overall rating slightly below average rating because of the disappointment. And it just adds insult to injury when It took me 15 mins to think of a better direction to take it in and one that I believe all the fans would be happy with. Expand

The first part was one of the best games I've ever played. The game had everything you wanted from a great story game Story, characters, emotions, graphics.
The last of Us 2 is exactly the opposite of the first part.
I'll start with the positives, graphics as always from the Naughty Dog studio gorgeous, panoramas of flooded Seattle alternating snowy mountains and villages reminiscent of the Middle Ages, just a feast for the eyes.
The game is very shocking, both positively and negatively. You get to know the character, you start to like her, and in 4 hours ABBY will pierce her head with her manly hand that even Dwayne Johnson would envy her. Acting performances better than in any million-dollar film and you will know from the facial expressions of the characters what they really think and feel. Also, of course, flshback passages with Joel and Tommy, where I felt like I was playing the first part, and this is how the game was supposed to start, and a slightly improved gameplay. And that's all.
There are many negatives, we start with the decision of characters who behave as if they had an Alzheimer and did not know where he is, this ability is dominated by Ellie who could live a happy life with Dina and the child, but simply has to for ABBY whom she is not even able to kill everything, and the utterly repulsive effort of the creators to make Ellie a completely unthinking, heartless monster that kills dogs and who knows maybe demonstrates in the evenings.
I'll move on to the most painful thing, and that's ABBYE, remember that name because after it's over, you'll be haunted in the evenings by a very tasty sex scene that has as much to do with sex as Germany and peace.
A completely dysfunctional character with whom, after beating Joel with a golf club, it is simply impossible to identify. And I honestly don't even remember her story because it was taken to the extreme, as was the story of the whole game. Why I have to play Flashbeck in Flachbeck on Flashbek under Flashbek just doesn't bother me. The end of the story is like, it could just be over, but I'll stretch it by 6 hours and I won't even talk about the final fight with Abby.
I didn't mind the presence of LGBT and everything because it just made sense and it wasn't crammed everywhere.
For me, The Last of Us is a huge disappointment and a demonstration that everyone should make their own opinion on the game, and not follow reviews, such as mine.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This story is a masterpiece BUT NOT FOR JOEL AND ELLIE! the bitter truth about reality, I get it! But, that doesn't mean that the character we LOVE gets this outcome. Give us the chance to decide our fate whether we want to spare or kill Abby! If you really don't want us to kill her then come to a fruitful conclusion. This game didn't hit me in my feels! it made me sad in a bad way! it tormented me how awful the ending was! Ellie got to spare her and also lost two fingers! What do you mean!!! are you telling me she can't even play the song Joel taught her to play "If I ever were to lose you". Even I tried to play the song without two fingers AND IT FREAKING HURTS to know she won't be able to play it properly! And Dina abandons her. We are left with Ellie living the rest of her life ALONE! Without Joel, Dina, Jesse, and most likely Tommy as well!

Again, It hurts me to say the story is a masterpiece but not for the character Joel and Ellie! I'm disappointed with NaughtyDog. Just at least make things good for Ellie. It is a video game, so, make the players feel positive about the story! Joel and Ellie didn't deserve the outcome! Everything went sad, lonely, depressing. And it made me even sad in this Covid-19 situation!

I loved the environment, went to every place I could go to explore! I wanted the story to never end and to go where it was going! The game is gorgeous no doubt!

But man, This LGBTQ thing that has been going on in video games! Please STOP FORCING us to believe this movement! No doubt it is a good cause but IT DOESNT GO WELL IN STORYTELLING GAMES! What's next now? TLOU: the legacy of George Floid? Don't include these things in video games! These movements are earned through hardship NOT by forcing the players to believe it!

This LGBT thing wasn't even the concern! Joel and Ellie needed a better ending! THAT'S IT!

the graphics are amazing and they really done a an amazing job with the environment and the atmosphere but the storytelling is just poor you spend the whole of the first game developing a relationship with Ellie just so he can die so early in the second one all I can say really is:

What I didn't like, and I think most of the people who have played the game, is the story. It just doesn't make any sense. I understand the whole revenge aspect, but to have some random character thrown at us was a let down. If you really wanted to do a revenge storyline, why not have it be someone who was close to Marlene from the previous game?

The Last of Us Part II was a game that was NOT needed. I hope Naughty Dog likes it, because they definitely made a game that their fans hate.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
