You have taken what has made the first game so great; good story and characters that you can become invested in, and totally removed it.

Now you make the returning characters dull, uninspiring and introduce us to new characters that we hate to play, force us to play them and do your best to remove any emotional attachment to the main characters in the first game.

I will give you credit however, you did get an emotional response from gamers, for me it was pretty much all negative, you have ruined this series for myself and many other gamers.

The real world already has enough bad crap in it, I play games to escape some of that and have fun, you have taken that away from me in this game. This game can have the best graphics and gameplay on the ps4, but without a good story and characters, its not a good game.

Tommy Boy Quote. “I could take a crap in a box and stamp a guarantee on it, but all it would be is a guarrenteed box of crap”

That’s sums it up, Naughty Dog has just “Jumped the Shark” with this game.

Animation feels a little unpolished and rushed (7 years?) and gameplay is kinda "standard"? Nothing new. But besides that It's tragical what happened here. The creators obviously got carried away into stuff that has very little to do with creating an enjoyable adventure. I find the dialogues especially flawed, often meaningless rants...a zillion f-words are not gonna make up for bad dialogue. It feels very shallow and cheap shot sitcom es-que. I'm around halfway into the game and I'm considering to leave it that way, not very motivated to get to the end of this...The story and dialogue is very focused on making issues of certain themes, and by that if feels unnatural and forced... I'm form Europe and just bought the game without checking reviews or opinions. I figured this would be pure gold. But now I'm wondering why they did it like this....? You can tell a story unbiased, without sexual references, without swearing every 5 seconds, without constant meaningless violence. It doesn't matter if the protagonists are male, female or in between. You don't have to zoom in on those traits, it is unnecessary and hinders the immersive nature of telling a good story, a story that can be enjoyed by all, that connects people instead of dividing them. A story that can be universally appealing. I think it is an art to tell stories like that, and naughty dog swapped the classic art form of storytelling for useless ranting, unnecessary plot twists for the sake of shock effect all fueled by gore and violence and a constant hint to sexuality and gender. It makes me sad for all the people that put their work in this, all these expensive pixels, the beautiful scenery as a stage for crappy dialogues and weak storytelling. It feels like naughty dog is going through moral puberty, and is just provoking for the sake of it . They just used the universe of the Last of Us as a setting for ventilating their needs. I fear this is gonna feel very dated soon and will not have a long lived history in gaming. The human race has been great at storytelling for thousands of years, it sure seems we are likely to undo that skill in just a couple of decades, where telling a cinematic story has become an excuse to create an absurdly moralistic and political mess solely created to score points in online political debate and not to take the audience on a magical experience....A missed chance in creating a memorabel game. Beautiful game with a huge gameplay and high graphics. But this story totally killed the game before.
Its not only gameplay and graphics that make a great game, its how you involve the player emotionally with the character and the story.
    This is frustrating.

Hollow revenge storyline. They destroying what they build up in the first game. Unlikable character got too much screentime to the point of playable. Saving grace only in graphic upgrade but really can't tolerate the disgraceful story telling as a whole game.

+ Yes graphics and sound design is astonishing, 10/10
~ Gameplay is nothing special. Either you like or dislike it.
the gameplay is just a bit more refined, than the first part
but everything in the gameplay has been done better in some form or fassion
there are better stealth in other games, there is shooting, and more
    - Enemies are most of the time dumb.
+ Levels are more open and feel better than the first part

    but the most important part:
    THE STORY:
    it is bad (BAD)
    - new Characters are flat and not compelling.
the game wants to justify their (horrific) actions after they already did them, by telling their backstory.
yet the backstory isnt interesting or good enough to get the player on their side
while playing the backstory, the only thing i want to do is GOING BACK TO THE MAIN STORY
    - old Characters, especialy Joel, are not the same or anyway close to how they were in the first part
it feels like "Star Wars The Last Jedi" all over again
the game tries to change your memories of the old characters, in a non compelling/unrealistic way
    - the Story is the basic, Standart, uninspired Revenge Plot
and the worst part is HOW the Story starts this whole plot.
    - the clickers (however the undead are exactly called) are litteraly only in the game, so you have something to shot at
    - the first game had this deeper meening of love and hope (and more), this game has left that behind for something like "hOw FaR ArE YoU GoInG tO gO fOr ReVeNgE?"
    (The cycle of Revenge)
but it gives us no choise to do something different,
and while i understand, the game is ment to be linear, even a monkey would understand its mistakes after the tenth time or so.
There are just to many other ways of telling us about the Cycle of Revenge.
    - At the same time it tries to show how characters react and change after they killed a human in a cutscene, BUT IT HAS NO IMPACT.
I LITTERALY killed a hundred other men/women before with NO reaction and suddenly this?
    - at Last the First Last of Us was great at switching brutal combat to a more hopefull, peacefull enivrement.
after a longer shootout, it takes time to tell a story
it gives your brain time to relax
Part 2 loses itself the more you play it.
it starts fairly "calm", yet not even 2 hours its "BAM, Revenge plot", kill them all.
it's like some sufferingporn, just one bad thing after the other
and while I understand why it is there, there just comes a moment, where it just stopes impressing me and it just gets boring
    - At last the first game had this "Light" you could look towards
tlou2 has lost it, completely, Its completely in the dark
    - The first game was nearly perfect, arguably one of the best games of all time,
it didnt need a sequell, especially this one
    - I remember Neil saying "There are no Protagonists/Heroes"
well, congrats, Then Why Should I Play The Game?
(- and no its not because of Joel)

    - game didnt work with me, and as I see, it didnt word with the majority as well.

    so in the End:
while yes the Graphics/Sound is the best we have ever had
and while the gameplay may be truly good
It still is a Sequel to the first part, but it feels like a bad writen FANFICTION, written by a gyu with no knowledge in fictionwritting and who was drunk the hole time.
Its like some mix between "DCs Darkness", "The Last Jedi" with its inconsistent, blank, dumb characters and "Game of Thrones: Season 8", just NO. not even the greatest Graphics/Gameplay can save this Sheithouse of a Story (How the hell did the Critics give it a 95?, its like they didnt play this game at all, (or less than an hour)) - 3 points for Graphics/Sound - 2 point for Gameplay, (hit or miss) - -1 for story A small tipp: If you already bought the game, I AM SORRY for you If you HAVENT bought part 2, DONT BUY IT, no recomendation just play/replay the first part, its awesome.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have just finished the story, this is a very honest opinion from Naughty dog fan and a very big fan of the last of us

    Rate 4/10

    Pro
    Graphic
The graphic is terrific, you could feel how it is very beautiful and look real, this is very impressive Gameplay
I enjoyed the gameplay very much, Ellie is very flexible, during the fight, she could evade, and strike back, this is also impressive and all of the weapons are very good, the silencer is great, the bow very useful, even more than Joel’s bow

    Con
Story The story has a very big plot hole on it,
    - Joel the experienced veteran man, survived many events, always be careful and very hard to trust someone, He just gave his name to a stranger who he has just met without knowing their background? Like walk in the park and introduce themselves, it doesn’t make any sense at all and because of that, it leads to his death, this is a very big plot hole

    - Then you played as Ellie to go all the way for revenge, kills so many people that did nothing to her, finally just to let that person who killed Joel live? (This kind of understandable if you really try to think that the killer spared Dina so Elli would want to stop all of the revenge and let the killer go)

    - The worst of all, you have to play as Joel’s killer for 8 hours, 8 long hours that I have to play as her, at least you should have given an option if the player wants to play as the killer or not

I played the last of us part 1 maybe more than 20 times but for the last of us part 2, I don’t think I can go through that again, especially the part that I have to play as Abby(Joel’s killer)

In conclusion - Good gameplay, - Great graphic,
    - Disappointing story

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'd give this game a 4 mainly down to story elements.
The graphics were stunning and the gameplay was smooth. I enjoyed how you go against dogs and rehashed infected (stalkers as an example) and had to plan accordingly.
However the story was a disappointment.
The death of the 1st main character was to be expected however how it happened was a shambles, leaving the character's death with little meaning other then a driving point for this second game.
This in turn is painful to those who played the first game and had built a connection to said character.
Granted, there was a few cool parts in the game however the negative greatly out weigh them.
I didn't wish to leave a negative review but I would recommend watching a walkthrough and keeping your money.

There's a lot of attention to detail in weird places that mostly elicit groans from me when reading previews, like an NPC's attack dog having a randomly generated name. It takes full advantage of your ps4 pro, and will gladly give you two loot-crates worth of branded garbage if you're willing to pay for it, including a freaking replica guitar. Top tier voice actors (not to be confused with top tier voice acting) help drive home the fact a big studio spent a lot of time and money on this. You can say whatever you want about Naughty Dog, Neil Druk, or Sony, but The Last of Us came out almost exactly 7 years ago. This thing wasn't slapped together and rushed out the door. Or was it?

The bad: Can you read or write bro? There are several moments in this game where a small joke or a line read or even an entire scene is ruined because it was written poorly or delivered wrong. Near the beginning of the game, Ellie makes a small, forced joke about a sandwich. It really could have been a funny scene. it could have worked great! But the way it was written and spoken, it's awkward, and that feeling stays with you for the rest of the game. You'll never forget about the sandwich. 7 years, millions of dollars and 2 established characters can't have a smooth conversation at all. Characters will often make decisions that seem contrary to their convictions (this will be especially noticeable if you just replayed the first game to get ready for this one) and on no less than two occasions there is an outright hole in the plot. There is also a painful amount of pandering that I don't want to waste too much time on, but I want to make it perfectly clear: It's simply too much. They won't let you forget about the sandwich. And the themes and topics themselves aren't the problem. The poorly executed and heavy handed writing is. At one point I felt physically sick because Ellie is 14 in the first game. The time skip doesn't do much for a 31 year old man I see 14 and 19 year old Ellie basically the same.

The character models deserve some attention, because they used all their big budget body scanning and mocap tools and whatever else they had lying around in what I can only assume is a bunker in silicon valley. Model blueprints are based on real people, and they look awful. There are a lot of interesting tidbits about this in various previews, but the strangest was how they specifically didn't want any female characters to be traditionally attractive. So they would scan a woman, and then digitally reduce her bust and hip size. Why use the scanner at all? So proportions are really jarring, facial features change from scene to scene to the point where in one scene Ellie was crying and i didn't notice.

There certainly is a real video game under the hood somewhere. there's stealth and guns and hand-to-hand combat and qte and they're all just vehicles to get to the next cut-scene. i would say that's a shame, but no one is here for any of that.

Using the uncharted formula in a post apocalyptic zombie setting is a money printing machine. This game could have been a slam dunk. However, there were so many bad decisions made creatively that it can only be perceived as disdain for it's audience. Definitely check out how hilariously poorly it is directed, but don't pay money to do it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly, I think the negative reviews have such low scores as a result of the INSANE 10/10 critic scores. SPOILERS* This isn't a 10/10 game, not even close and no human in their right mind could think so. The game plays beautifully, looks stunning but leaves you feeling totally unfulfilled and empty. Its a shallow and medeocre experience. This is mainly due to the torture and killing of one half of the most beloved partnership in video games early in the game. We are then forced to play as the perpetrator of this act... To say I wasn't particularly interested in keeping said person alive was an understatement. Nothing that ND & ND did subsequently to this could undo the hatred I had for that character. If anything we should have played Abby from the start, allow to build a report with her, understand her motivations before the brutal killing we are forced to witness. This would then bring the two sets of characters together and justify the games story tangent. This is only part of what is a disjointed affair at best. Drawn out and poorly thought through. I think ND and ND have underestimated how beloved their characters were with everyone who played the first game. This game destroys all of that goodwill. This game turns characters we cared about into revenge zombies, as mindless as those infected we are forced to ENDLESSLY kill. As the game concludes we are left caring about nobody. Do I want a sequel? Maybe, if they can somehow rehabilitate Ellie and allow her some redemption. Otherwise, leave your crackpot ideas at home Neil Druckmann, you have managed to ruin a beloved franchise, where were the dissenting voices at Naughty Dog, surely there were people who disagreed with this suicidal direction? Was it worth 7 years of waiting?? Nope, it really wasn't. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I first heard that the last of us 2 was going to be like the last jedi I wasn't really surprised and although there was a clear contrast between user and critic reviews that isn't the only thing the two have in common. Both substitute actual good writing and plot twists with these "gotcha shock" moments. Gotcha, throws lightsaber of the cliff, Gotcha Finn gets rammed into last second, gotcha you can't actually stab this dude because he's a ghost. It's the same stupid **** with the last of us 2. Riding on your horse, gotcha captured, getting beat up gotcha there is a shard of glass and you stab some dude in the neck, in an abandoned building with a bunch of **** strangers? Gotcha there goes your **** knee. This isnt the only problem with the story, So much is sacrificed for this plot with a message that isn't even that hard to understand. The first game was so innovative and I learned so much from it, the same can't be said about this one. In Naughty dog games it's always about the characters and personally, I found the new cast of characters to be unlikable and in terms of abbys friends, they would definitely not survive the apocalypse. And they got rid of all the crate pushing and ladder climbing which I actually kind of miss, instead of riding a horse spamming x for 10 minutes talking, it's more fun actually solving a puzzle instead. And lastly, for a game puts an emphasis on death and vulnerability, it's not very convincing when you play as a veteran with a 100 kd and whenever the enemies get a chance to kill you they go full dumb dumb and by the end of the game, Ellie somehow survives, so much for being realistic. And one more negative thing, I respect the direction that they were trying to take with Abby but Neil knew a decision like that would split the fan base and that's not exactly a good thing because the last of us is so respected and people have been waiting 7 years for this one, I don't want to play as the girl who probably has a penis that killed one of my favorite characters in gaming. The graphics are nice, you can thank the overworked employees for that, the gameplay is definitely something else but that **** is way to brutal for me lol. Overall dissapointing package would not spend 70 bucks on, Expand

In fact here would be a better story that I made up:

instead of the group killing Joel, they should’ve done an eye for an eye and killed Tommy. That infuriates Joel and Ellie, but Joel goes off alone to go avenge his brother. Ellie goes after him. You get to play as both Joel and Ellie like the good ole days, then they reunite towards the end to find the killers. At the end, Joel is wounded but goes out like a champ killing off as many enemies as he can. In the finale, Ellie is the one to kill Abby, but Joel is hella wounded. He dies in Ellie’s arms. THAT would’ve been way more meaningful than whatever the hell this was.

It seemed like it was going to be a game of the year contender... until the first 2 hours came and went and they killed off joel like an NPC. From that point on it went from GOTY contender to the worst game of the year. The story was incredibly dull and made absolutely no sense. Possibly the worst story I ever experienced. The ending was bitter sweet. Bitter because it was even worse than when they killed joel and sweet because it was thankfully over. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's sad watching all of the critics scramble to post articles about the game getting "review bombed" and looking for excuses to justify a bad game being given a legendary rating.

The game moves extremely clunky and the sneak attack on "the infected" is beyond idiotic. Yes, let me put my arm right below a zombies mouth. This also feels like a game that would benefit much more from allowing users to make some choices. Instead we're mostly stuck watching a film with little game play.

Critics will jump on the "this is obviously anti-LGBT crowd. No. No one gives a darn about the main character being a lesbian. It's not a romance game and frankly her love interest is so boring. Their interactions are boring and trivial. What makes their relationship worse is knowing the forgettable love interest is essentially Joel's replacement. Speaking of Joel... his death was poorly timed and very poorly setup. The writing around his untimely doom was horrendous. This guy lived 24+ years just to get clapped by some petulant woman he just saved. The guy never had a complete story arc and never had to confront his choice to essentially doom humanity's chance at a cure. Plus, it felt like a watered down crappy version of the Walking Dead's scene with Neagan.

The game is gorgeous. There's no arguing that and I'm sure thats what critics are getting a hard on about. Not to mention, just like movies, out of touch critics love unpopular plot twists. These are the same people who will pan a movie like Avengers Endgame and then praise a movie like Green Book that no one actually cared to go watch.

Get off your high horses and admit you're sheep. Not a single negative review from a critic? No one sees how fishy that is? But instead blame fans... you know the people who keep you in business and who the games are supposed to be made for.

The game isn't horrendous but man it's really boring in-between cut scenes.

    - False copyright strikes/claims through Sony/ND/Muso

It's like they took the first game, thought about what part II should be and then threw everything out the window. I'll give it a 4 for nostalgia reasons and because it has a few things that are fine, but you can't really expect more from a story game that blatantly ignores pretty much everything that was established in the first game.
Most of the negative reviews have nothing to do with Ellie or anyone else being gay or trans or whatever, but simply with the fact that Naughty Dog disappointed so many fans with what they've created here

Gameplay: 3/10. Controls are great and have been improved from the first part, but the game itself is dull and repetitive. TLOU was a difficult game, but its difficulty was for the right reasons, this game is too easy for all the wrong reasons.
Story: 0/10. Getting to the point. Story is chaotic, has plot holes and is full of random rationalization of unconnected events.
There are 3 thing I hate in this world: homophobia, misogyny and lack of empathy. There are 3 thing I hate even more: rainbow washing, pink washing and justification of bad acts based on personal traits. Guess which 3 this game has.
Music: 4/10. This point may suffer from the comparison with TLOU, in the first game the music was awesome, in this one... is not.

Bottomline: 4/10 when graphics are 9/10 means the game is horrible, it's just not worth it.
It's great they have put all the accessibility features they did, it's a shame they didn't do it in a game people would actually enjoy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (Yes it's my first review and no, i'm not a bot or a hater, I just felt the need to say what I think of this game)

There's a thin line between hiding things on trailers to let the players experience the story without spoilers and creating false cutscenes for the trailers which is what happened here.

Probably the best looking console game so far, incredible facial animations and motion capture with mostly good voice acting, the problem is that this things alone can't make a good game without a good story and even more so when we are talking about tlou sequel.

Everything that was loved about the first game is destroyed here, the characters from the previous game just don't feel like themselves, there are many other plots that I can imagine in seconds that would be way more interesting than this revenge story, there are just so many questions that end without an answer.

In terms of story, part II is an inferior game, gameplay is improved but becomes boring way before the game ends.

Let's just say I feel betrayed, the game fails at making me feel empathy for the new characters and the ending "missed the notes" it desperately wanted to make me feel.

Most fans should stick with the first one, the message there is powerful, here it's hollow just because.

There are no puzzles in this game, a departure from the first game and from Naughty Dog's Uncharted series which feels disappointing, the game never challenges the player, choosing to throw you into the same combat encounters every twenty minutes between some light hiking. The entire game feels stale, like it never left the ps3 generation other than the graphics and animation which are, all things considered a technical masterpiece, I never experienced a single bug or glitch throughout the entire game. Unfortunately the game is hugely let down by a truly terrible story and boring unlikable characters including those that return from the first game. The story beats are anticlimactic at best and never made me want to carry on playing the game. It feels as though the story is trying to push complex themes that never mean anything. The entire game is based around revenge but the game fumbles and drops the ball repeatedly when it comes to this idea. It looks worse when you consider both God of War and RDR2 dealt with the same themes in a much better way than the last of us 2 did. This game is also totally hopeless and bleak, as if it were trying too hard to take itself seriously, I found myself laughing at some of the choices these characters made. This game feels like it's story was thrown in about 6 months ago and was never developed further beyond a base idea. Expand

On the technical side, the only annoyance I've had to struggle with is some strange rubber-banding on the companions AI, where they block you from hiding or moving over certain areas unless, you walk far enough away some they are pulled to move then you can try and interact with them. The handicap options are top notch and more games should take notice on how to implement these options in their games

The constant jumping in timelines and wonky rubber-banding companion AI makes a mess of a story that was great until 2/3 in. I don't care for the antagonists motives and nothing in my 11 hours and 38 minutes changes that other than making it a grind to push thru to see the rest of Ellie's story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely hated it, unfortunately. For the amount of time they had, they could have come up with a better story. I wanted to give a good review, but I just can’t. When I was playing Abby I just wanted to kill myself, and eventhough the graphics were really cool with some new addictions gameplay-wise, I just, for the life of me, couldn’t enjoy playing. The only part I did enjoy was fighting off the seraphites, they were challenging and they were interesting. Everything else did not make sense. I have a lot of examples but these are just some that pissed me off:
    1. What’s the deal with this game and pregnancy? First there’s Dina but then, there’s this other pregnant lady.... You have a camp full of strong people, eager to fight and ready to do it. In what world would you let (and want btw) a pregnant woman, that is almost giving birth judging by the size of her belly, to go in search of supplies when you know you have enemies nearby also ready to fight? You’re not just putting yourself and your baby in danger, but also your entire crew. It’s just one very unnecessary responsibility.
    2. Why were there flashbacks within flashbacks? That’s just poor storytelling. You could have told the same story without all those in between.
    3. I felt manipulated into liking Abby, which did not work for me. Yes, she likes dogs. Yes, she likes children and she feels bad for dead pregnant women. So what? I do too, but that does not necessarily make me a good person. Nor a likable one.
    4. Ellie. She feels so different. I know she is all grown up now, but she lost all the witiness from the first game. She was so fun to play with and she felt very one dimensional, and angsty (not in a good fun way) in this game.
    5. I knew Joel was going to die. I don’t mind his death being very painful to watch because I knew it would be. I honestly just don’t understand how the events worked out. In the first game, you have a scene where Joel sees a man pretending to be injured. He is in a car with Ellie and without talking to the man or leaving the car, he KNOWS that it is an ambush. How can the same man be so reckless in a house full of armed strangers? I just can’t deal with the illogical character developments. It’s only been 5 years and you’re telling me that he changed so much to start giving out his name to random people knowing full well what he did to the fireflies? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Honestly, I could spend more time ranting about this game but I am tired. This game made me feel tired and frustrated. I play to enjoy myself and that didnt happen at all. If you wanted a gut wrenching game, then you should have done it correctly. I am sorry but the graphics did not do it for me. Yes they’re gorgeous but when everything is so bleak and so badly told I just can’t bring myself to enjoy it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Visuals: 8

While much of it is stunning, there are a number of technical problems that occasionally make themselves known, from bad/glitchy lighting, strange clipping issues, and some weird character movements. Additionally of note, while quite gorgeous, there are other titles that have even better visuals, like Horizon: Zero Dawn. All in all great, but not the best of a long generation.

    Music: 10

Quite simply, the music is a 10 if I ever heard one. Beautifully arranged and executed for perfect dramatic effect. Not much more needs to be said here.

    Sound: 5

The general sound on the other hand, from gun shots to foley, seem to be neglected here. While some things are well done, many effects seem muddled or down right out of place. Worse yet, quite a few are present in cut scenes of all places. Average at best.

    Story: 2

The story is... problematic and mismanaged at BEST. Much of the story could be salvageable if sequenced properly. However, the sequencing does the exact opposite of creating a compelling and relatable story, instead driving a wedge between what is believable and what is presented. While I won't spoil much here, the story revolves around revenge, the ending opts to "break the cycle" in perhaps one of the most dissatisfying ways, sapping the last bit of enjoyment from the story. While the blooming relationship between Ellie and Dina is quite enjoyable, even that is cut short due to bad storytelling that is not the least realistic. Overall, the story is poorly executed.

    Writing: 1

The general writing, particularly of the moments between cut-scenes and combat, is almost painful to listen to, due largely to bad and awkward dialogue. A good 70% of this dialogue could have been cut, with a positive or neutral effect to the story if it was.

    Acting/Voice acting: 4

While much of the voice acting is top notch, it feels like much of the dialogue is so out of place or non-committal that the lack of decent voice acting in some places feels quite jarring.

    Game Mechanics: 6

There isn't much new compared to the previous installment, and the game mechanics overall feels too similar to the first to warrant much praise beyond better than average.

    Online: 0

One of the great things about the original The Last of Us was its great multiplayer that allowed for hundreds of hours of online play that felt truly unique and engaging. For some reason, Naughty Dog decided that one of the original things that made this series great would be cut entirely for seemingly no reason. A major disappointment that is not excusable in this generation of gaming.

    Final verdict: 4.5/10

Overall, the game is a disappointment. After waiting 7 years for a new installment, this feels like a kick in the gut and stab in the back. While the game scores well in a technical manner, everything else falls short of expectations and leaves me wondering if the team behind this catastrophe knew just how poor it truly was.

Overall, at 4.5, that would make it just below average. When deciding whether or not it would be rated a 4 or 5 for the overall score as seen at the top, I had to debate whether or not to remove some categories to create a better reflection of what to expect. I decided against this and kept to what was written.

If you played the original game, this is closer to a 0-2, and even if you don't have the attachments from having played the original, it would be hard to rate this above a 5.

Save your money and spend it on something made with love and care, not this train-wreck.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

We all knew deep down that Joel was going to die in TLOU2. It was pointless for Neil Druckmann to even include the way he was killed. Then the ending. What was the point of the entire game if you don’t get revenge. Ellie has killed hundreds of people before, so why would a flashback stop her from killing her main enemy. I hated Abby until halfway into the game. Then I just didn’t feel any type of way towards her. But for the entire duration of the game they force me to want to feel bad for Abby? It didn’t work. I gotta say, I loved purposefully dying just to see her get mutilated by a pack of infected. Everything else, I loved. It would’ve been my favorite game ever made if Joel had a different death and Ellie got her revenge. Expand

Nice combat, nice game-play, very nice graphic, next-gen game.
But all of that, can't be compared to the story.
The story is fully disrespecting the player and the first game. Forcing the player to play the most hated character is not something people wanted to in a game. if the story was mediocre, i would love to rate this to 7 or 8 because of all the combat, game-play, and graphics.

    The good:
Enemy dialog has a very vast improvement making the enemies feel more human.

Visuals are phenomenal boasting the second best reflections and lighting I've seen full stop

Ellie's interactions with Dina and Jesse are fun to listen to giving good insight on the characters pasts and relationships.

environments are more open with better enemy placements and better designs than the first

    The bad:
A lot of the new characters aren't given proper time to develop, so when they do something against pre-established characters or on random it leaves players with a sour taste in their mouth.

With Abby I feel that in the attempt to make her a stronger character physically they strayed further towards making her more masculine than to give her a more athletic female type build

The ending is very unsatisfying, not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it but

Some main players in the original game act out of character in relation to their pre-established behaviours and mannerisms.

The character designs, all of our returning cast and a couple of the new ones (Dina and Jesse) have wonderful new designs, the enemy designs feel very generic with the WLF feeling like the Fireflies with a couple new design changes.

The controls are dated, I love the original game but a fresh coat of paint on a decade old control scheme just isn't pulled off right.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is trash. Not because of poor gameplay, or poor graphics, or poor animation, or poor soundtrack, or bad lighting, because these factors are not only substantial but in some cases (graphics, lighting and animation) extraordinary. The reason this game sucks is because of poor storytelling. Ultimately, what is fundamental in determining if this type of solo game is worth rating as great is not the gameplay or the visuals or the soundtrack but it’s the story. Without a great story the player has no motivation to engage in the game. So regardless if the gameplay is fun it is kind of pointless if the player has no motivation to play it.

The story sucks because of the following big reasons, although there are many smaller, more specific reasons that I won’t get into. The first being: absolutely terrible pacing. This game takes no time to reintroduce previous characters and does not take the time to develop new characters in a way that allows the player to understand and empathise with their decisions. The main plot points which occur are thrown together and feel contrived because of the moral agenda that the developers are trying to push which is that revenge leads to a cycle of inescapable and immoral violence. Ellie’s new love interest is thrown in at the start and we’re expected to care about her just because Ellie has the hots for her. We’re expected as a player to want to fight alongside her and care about their relationship despite totally boring character development and dialogue.

Which is the second point, although well acted and realistic, the dialogue is so painfully boring throughout most of the game and it is painful to have to listen to their cute little conversations when your only motivation (if you can find any) is hatred after they kill off the main playable character from the first game less than 3 hours in. When you are fuelled by hate and not the hopeful goal which the first game had, it can be difficult to listen to dina’s trash jokes and the two girls flirting while zombies and people try to shoot, stab and consume them.

The third big reason has to be the disrespect done to Joel. I mean they literally spit on his bloodied corpse. I don’t have a problem with killing characters or “sad parts” in stories. My issue is that they kill this character so early in the game, using the most wicked methods possible and it is done by a new character that we don’t give a crap about. And you’re forced to play as that character later in the game. It doesn’t even make sense how they kill him. The whole of the first game Joel doesn’t trust anyone. He spots an ambush like an absolute pro, it was even used in one of the trailers for the original. He is not a man that gets led into one of these situations and yet he ended up there because the develops just had to kill off the men because this is a game about WAHMEN.

And that’s the fundamental flaw with this game. Not that the female characters take the lead. Not that there is a gay relationship. The problem is that the developers were clearly so obsessed with representing those groups in this game that it completely clouded what could have otherwise been a great story. Their politics, their agenda, their prejudice got in the way of their ability as storytellers. It forced them to kill Joel because he’s an old white man. It forced them to make the journey about these two girls and their dull, underdeveloped relationship and it forced them to have the antagonist (who isn’t really even an antagonist) as a completely unbelievable female character that is either trans or an impossible occurrence. I mean, no woman has that level of muscle and if she is trans or genetically dispositioned, couldn’t you at least explain that to us? Why is she built like a bodybuilder? Is she on roids? If so, how did she get them during an apocalypse? Is she genetically deformed? How did that affect her growing up? I mean, please explain your insane choices at least. Anyway, I’m into ranting now. This game is a 4/10. 5/10 at a push if you love this type of one man army gameplay. Save your money. Replay the first.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wrack my brains trying to figure out how such a story-driven game powerhouse like NaughtyDog missed the mark so hard you'd think they held the gun backwards. So here's my drop in the bucket review.

•Pros: The game looks fantastic. Water reflections and physics show what the PS4 can truly do compared to even respectably built gaming PCs. The sound design is crisp, audio occlusion is realistic, and the voice acting is pretty good. Really conveys the emotions the characters are feeling at that moment. The melee combat has more crunch to it. Each blow is really felt, in the way the camera moves, the motions of the attacker and recipient, and the dodge mechanic makes it more than just a 'Mash square til they commit aliven't' simulator. Gunplay is solid, though the default sensitivity is a little higher than the previous entry's, but you can fix that simply in the controls menu. Crafting and upgrades are still here, and they arguably feel a lot better to do. Personal upgrades go beyond 'reload faster' and 'at least pretend you have forearm muscles' due to the sway. There's a couple of flashbacks that show small snippets of the previous game, and they have updated graphics as well. Particularly the scene where Joel lies to Ellie right at the end, there's so much more emotion and weight to even just her eyes. There's an enormously varied Accessibility section in the options that range from auto-aim for motor handicapped people to replacing every event in the game with a different sound cue paired with text-to-speech so the game can be played by actual blind people. The difficulty can be cut into smaller chunks of personalized merit; you can either choose a flat difficulty that makes every aspect the same as the difficulty you chose, or you can choose to make your character extremely squishy but the enemies as well so no one becomes a bullet sponge, not even yourself. Atop that, the ability to change how much your allies help you in battle, how aggressively the enemies attack you, and even the amount of supplies that will spawn in the game. The game can be as easy or as difficult as YOU want. Also, you can pet the dog.

•Cons: The story itself is oblique, and quite possibly delivered in the wrong order. It's a confusing mish-mash of revenge that seems to try and teach us that revenge isn't worth getting... when the antagonist gets their happy ending in the first 2 hours of the game, and Ellie is left at the end with... nothing. Lost her girl, lost her friends, lost her fingers... She can't even play the guitar, her version of Joel's watch. Where his reminded him of his daughter, Ellie remembers Joel through the guitar. The AI, all-in-all for a modern release is quite sub-par. If you watch AI In Gaming on YouTube you'll understand how the AI in TLOU1 worked, and 2's really sees no improvement. Enemies completely ignore your allies while you are in stealth, they have a vision cone that consists of about 35° in front of them that ends after 15 feet like they're all geriatric with cataracts thicker than their thumb. They still blatantly say out loud every thought they have, I'm surprised one of them didn't talk about what they had for breakfast to themselves while they walk on the other side of your chest-high-cover. They added dogs that more or less act like the Cosmic Clones from Super Mario Galaxy where they trail about 5 seconds behind you when they 'get your scent', so you gotta keep moving you can't really filter them all through the same door... as easily, anyway. No significant changes to enemies or enemy types, be they infected or human. On top of all of that, the cast of characters you regularly see throughout the story are all completely unlikable two-dimensional reflections of a single personality point and nothing more. Chaste, or brash. Sarcastic or serious. It's like the developers were afraid we might have to think a little too much to understand a person's motives so they just made them walk around with a sandwich board that says 'Hello, I am {Insert emotion here}.' Another thing that's more weird than anything is Neil Druckmann's self-inclusion in the game. It's not the first time a game has used an employee's likeness, this started even as far back as Perfect Dark for the N64, where a lot of the faces were developers at the studio. No, the thing that makes his point-for-point everything-but-name inclusion is that he seems to exist solely to tell the antag-protagonist to do the bad things she wants to push the story... and to bone her in a sex scene. Straight up just bareback porking her. 'Ellie is a lesbian' seems kind of phoned in, as well. We knew from Left Behind that she was definitely into girls, and she seemed rather unhappy at seeing Bill's dirty magazine of naked men. It doesn't push LGBT at all in an impactful way, either. It just seems to be pandering to me. No serious issues like facing hardships brought about by their sexuality, just a mention in an early cutscene, no more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Visually stunning. I did enjoy the gameplay but to call it groundbreaking is a vast overstatement. Its polished on the work from the first installment several years ago for sure, but it's to be expected given the resources behind such a well established studio. The biggest let down for me is the story. I'd draw comparisons with the GoT series. TLOU1 is much like the first few seasons setting the story rich with lore and a mix of anticipation and wonder in a strange new world.

TLOU2 is akin to the last seasons where the story itself plays second (maybe thrid) fiddle to the proverbial mic drops/shock factor to justify itself. In much the same way as GoT, the ending makes you wonder why you even bothered in the first place.

I'd even say if you had a choice in the the final decision it would have made up a few more points personally. But instead it's more of a childrens bedtime story trying to shove its own conflicting brand of morality down your throat at the expense of any replayability or sense of accomplishment. Now I get the whole revenge can backfire thing.... But this isn't a new concept... It has already been done... Just ask anyone who's watched the various endings of the Count of Monte Cristo.

I can't help but think I've played a different game to that played for the critic reviews.

For me the story should be foremost for any game, backed up by well polished and novel gameplay concepts and UI.
I feel this concept was lost somewhere along development and as such feels like a step backwards from the achievements from its predecessor.

So ignore the people buying and playing the game.. but keep listening to the crazy echo chamber that has zero to do with the people and only harm you...
The game is amazing.. As everyone said the story is horrible.. Joel being handled differently might have made me think better but still, its bad. Its awful.. All this game does is offend everyone intentionally.
Even Trans people should be offended.. They use stereotypes that people whom hate them think of them as..and does not represent most Trans people..and you made violent etc. Its just wrong..all of it.
There is no way it should have a good score.. I will agree that it should least get 5.0 because everything else was just better from the first, other then, oh I dunno, the entire story/game itself..
Im still a lil confused at whomever your internal PC voice is because of how they handle the Trans person alone (since they are trying to make it a new thing..) that which they knew on its own would draw controversy.. Why.. That is like being the people who used to say why blacks (kill them first) and no gays..) but they handled even that in a bad way..
This whole thing is just confusing.
(Btw these are the people driving all the companies to placate - not really change..so only feeding fires.)
And again to leave off..media is lit writing stories about how "WE" should not be paid attention too..
I'm saying they handled all things poorly..including PC things.. I guess your going to take my Black card too?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i am the biggest last of us fan, i just made an account to rate this game, i have so much to critique for but let me give u the main point. the game's vision is extraordinary but they way it was implemented was so poor that it hurt credibility of naughty dog.
the game tries to show us that they is no main protagonist and that everyone has a balance of good and evil in them even in ellie and joel. in the ending ellie spares abby to prove a point that she is better then abby but what neil druckmann fail to understand is that ellie killed so many people just to reach abby, don't these people lives's carry any weight and why doesnt ellie not have a change of heart before and spares those lives rather than have a change of heart when she got hold of abby. doesn't that mean all those lives she took to get to abby was for nothing and makes her decision to spare abby even worse.
in fact there is a point in the game where she beats a girl to death with an axe till she gets ptsd from it she didn't have a change in heart back then. the game revolves around revenge so keep it that way.but the game actively goes in a way to force u to like abby and empathize for her even though she relentlessly beaten joel to death right after he saved her.
the game actively tries to force u to be tolerant to the obnoxious plots, bad pacing, horrible characters and pushing agendas that clearly don't fit in the game like feminism/trans/LGBTQ it feels forced especially the sex scene.
all in all the two things things that would dramatically improve the game was they way joel's death was to be handled and replacing the characters with more interesting ones that are relatable and convincing. while rearranging the plot to fix the bad pacing.

Naughty Dog has already carved their names into gaming history with their consistent story-driven single-player games, but this one feels uncharacteristic of previous titles. They experiment with new things and new characters, but overall it turns into a story that feels lackluster with characters who I struggle to identify with. They take interesting steps to help represent the LGBT community which is totally fine, but this kind of writing just makes them look bad.

The performances themselves are top-notch, but the writing itself is strange. Naughty Dog just drops you four to five years into the future after the first game and you're immediately introduced to a plethora of characters. Unfortunately, we never see these characters develop much through the course of the game - most of their already-established friendship is just through a few lines of dialogue regarding their past. Every time Ellie and Dina run through a few lines of dialogue together, I'm stuck wondering "who is this person, and why do I care about her?"

I got to see Joel and Ellie's characters bloom naturally in the original game, but this one blindsides you and forces you to engage with their dull characters. Ellie and Dina's relationship doesn't seem well-written at all; if I had gotten a chance to see their previous encounters (other than what was shown in the trailer) I think I would warm up to their relationship more. The story isn't really shown to us; rather, it's told to us through exposition-ish dialogue.

Another thing with the characters are they seem so...different from the first game. Their personalities have completely changed to the point it sticks out like a sore thumb; you're left wondering "why did she do this?" or "why would he befriend this person?" I don't feel motivated to protect one of the newer characters introduced. With every death of my companion, I feel less and less interested in the character being killed.

The pacing is bearable at times, but a lot of it cuts off with flashbacks and more exposition. I don't get the structure of the game; it is being far too ambitious and telling multiple stories with multiple characters at once, and attempting to solve all of their characters' story arcs within one game. It invites plot-holes and the story becomes a mess. There are way too many characters being introduced and killed off without seeing their arc complete.

I don't watch things naturally unfold in this game - things just happen. Rather than see someone get into a fight that leaves two characters bitter about one another, a side character just talks to me about it to make me understand. Ellie's personality is so jarringly different without much rhyme of reason other than "it happened years later, so she's changed" explanation. There's this jarring disconnect between player and Ellie that takes you out of the immersion instantly.

The gameplay isn't bad however, as almost every component from the original is improved upon. There's a new prone mode that allows me to crawl on the floor. Breaking glass and upgrading guns are satisfying. It's fun to get into these sequences where you need to sneak around an area full of infected. Running from them still gets the adrenaline pumping. The challenge is still there and it's still as fresh as ever.

Exploration can be a chore at times. Big areas with empty spaces - that kinda jazz like Ubisoft.

Unfortunately, due to Naughty Dog developing a game that is so story-centric, they put all of their chips on story rather than the gameplay, and it just doesn't feel right. None of these characters were written well; it's a run-of-the-mill revenge story between two factions that ultimately boils down to a bland game with zombie portions. There's plot-holes everywhere and it doesn't seem like the well-crafted game we've come to expect from Naughty Dog. Why should I play the game again if I don't care about the characters? I can see the strong bond between Joel and Ellie, but I don't see or feel the bond between Ellie and Dina, or even Ellie and her friends for that matter. I roll my eyes whenever new characters get upset.or sad.

The game takes no step forward in exploring the actual dystopian world with the Infected. Instead, it opts to create an army of uninteresting, boring characters with their own internal issues, and tries to suture them up in one 25-30 hour long game. The story is uninspiring and is one of those cliche revenge stories you've seen a million times over.

I do regret buying it at full-price. I'd save your money. If it were on sale for $19.99, maybe I'd consider picking it up. I don't think this kind of quality lives up to fans' expectations.

    Score is 4/10.

Graphics are good but from a triple A title and from a studio like Naughty Dog it is to be expected. However the story is DREADFUL and forces you to make decisions which are completely un-relatable. I was very looking to play this but was greatly disappointing especially with the ending which is anti-climatic and terrible.

Its the last Jedi of video games.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First things first. I'm a huge NaughtyDog fan so don't get me wrong. NaughtyDog has been an amazing game company for more than a decade BUT let's cut to the chase, TLOUS2 is not good. at least in a matter of storytelling. how come? Pretend NaughtyDog gonna announce Uncharted 5 in the next E3 and you just gonna get hyped for playing it and afterward, after playing it for 2 hours, NATHAN DRAKE is gonna get killed. Hurts? It really does because he was the main reason you have probably bought the game in the first place. There's a similar scenario for TLOUS2. You have bought the game not just for great graphics and gameplay but for the masterpiece STORYTELLING you experienced in the first game. You bought the game for the strong emotional connection between Joel and Ellie. Why would the writer gotta kill off the character that made you in love with the game in the first place? It makes no sense. That's why people are mad. ofc they love the gameplay, graphics but what about storytelling?
Even a huge media like IGN is barely talking about the whole story in their review! Players buy the game for not the huge graphics but the connection they make during their play. They not gonna talk about how hard the mission was, they gonna talk about how fun it was playing that mission with the character. And shoutout to NaughtyDog for ruining that for us. Thanks

To start off the fans would have been so much happier if Joel had died another way, in TLOU2 he dies after saving abby who then goes on to golf club his head in, people would've been happier if he died around mid game giving ellie and dina time to run from WLF, and the whole revenge story could have been that they killed a group of innocent families including children in the crossfire in an attempt to kill joel but it goes wrong and they scrambled for Seattle, letting u play as JOEL and ELLIE chasing them down not letting u play as abby once. While the graphics are absolutely breathtaking, and the combat works just fine. The story of TLOU2 just doesn't live up to the previous title. The graphics were great, the gameplay was fun, there were some gripping action sequences which was good, but that is not what draws me to the last of us. What draws me into this game is the characters and the story, which on those fronts were abhorrent to me. Terrible decisions made, out of character moments, and weak narrative. Not to mention the 0 percent payoff in the ending. Also did Ellie go to hang herself in the end credits? Whatever not like it matters after this game. Again, graphics, enviornment, and action was good. But the foundation of this franchise is the story, which is weak. With a weak foundation all the other stuff on top just falls apart for me. 4/10 is a generous score imo. Dissapointing. Expand

Ok, so I took some time thinking about this. Played it, listened to views and what others had to say and I can't help but think there was so much wasted potential with this game. The usual things are true; the graphics are fantastic, the voice acting is great, and the environments are breath-taking. Unfortunately, then we get to the story and the characters. The Last of Us Part 2 isn't asOk, so I took some time thinking about this. Played it, listened to views and what others had to say and I can't help but think there was so much wasted potential with this game. The usual things are true; the graphics are fantastic, the voice acting is great, and the environments are breath-taking. Unfortunately, then we get to the story and the characters. The Last of Us Part 2 isn't as much of a game as it is a walking simulator with a few shooting sections and exposition based cutscenes. The levels exist as collectathons in between cutscenes which provide the entire plot. Whilst I appreciate the time and effort placed into trying to create a new story with serious consequences it falls flat at nearly every hurdle. We all know of the certain events which happened within the first few hours of the game with a certain character called Abby. We are then forced to play well over half the game as Abby learning about her backstory in the hope we feel sorry for them and it somehow makes us likes them. Sorry Naughty Dog but we hate Abby. You positioned her in such a way that you doomed her character from the state to be hated by all players. Would have been much more impactful to have the whole game happen and then Abby take out Joel, that way we would have already formed a bond with the new character making the end result more shocking. Furthermore, the ending is weak, almost a cop-out. Like ND couldn't find a good way to finish it so they didn't. After killing her way across the US and having remorse for no-one and seeing her friends and family killed along the way Ellie decides to let Abby live. Whilst some may see this as character development, it just makes the last 20-30 hours of gameplay worthless. Would be the equivalent of John Wick letting the man who killed his dog go after murdering literally everyone. There was so much potential for this game, so many avenues they could have taken, but this felt lacklustre and just didn't live up to it's own hype. Not to mention the part of the game you do get to play become incredibly tedious and monotonous very quickly. Run, walk, loot, walk, run, shoot, stab, walk, loot, run, all followed by nearly 10 hours of cutscenes. I feel as though if they were to keep the same story arc, It would have been beneficial to get to know and play with Abby before she did the unspeakable and then we were forced to play as her. Or the game would have been better if it had followed a different set of protagonists all together leaving Joel and Ellie alone. As a cinematic experience its amazing, as a game it is ok, as a sequel and a conclusion to one of the most anticipated stories in video game history. It's not good. It get a 4 just because the story is weak, characters are unlikeable and unrecognisable in some instances and the ending feels like they didn't know what to do so they did nothing. Hopefully will serve as a lesson to these AAA developers that if you mess with the characters people love, it won't end well and people won't like it. The main positive i'll give this game is that it is not afraid to kill off major characters in throw away scenes, but it does mean we just don't care about any of them. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really didn't want it to come to this but here we are. Naughty Dog betrayed everything the main characters of the first game ever stood for with how they handled the story for this game. First lets talk about Joel. He never once behaved in any way in the first game that would lead us to believe he would ever be stupid enough to give his name to complete strangers! especially after the ending of the first game which effectively makes him a wanted man! Then the way they rub his death in your face only to immediately force you to play as his killer. Abby is not a likable or relatable character. Ever vile violent act she commits she gets more and more pleasure from while Ellie is genuinely disgusted with some of the thing's she's forced to do. I don't situationally forced I mean narratively forced. So much of the writing in this games appears to be done deliberately for maximum shock value and nothing else. Joels death was incredibly contrived and obvious in it's intent and none of the stories attempts to make Abby in any way likeable succeeded she feels worse and worse to play as time goes on. Some of the decisions characters make defy all logic and reason and simply serve to further the story at the cost of virtually all players agency. I'm not going to go over the graphics, VO work or the music because I knew all of those would be amazing and they where. The gameplay hasn't evolved much in seven years of development which is a shame but I was fine with the gameplay in the first game and I'm fine with it here. The reasons people bought this game was the story and the story is incredibly disappointing in every way. I'm going to erase this game from my memory and happily live with the self imposed lie that TLOU had no sequel. Because not having another game at all would still be better than this. Expand

But, it seems Naughty Dog has bitten more than it could chew, and presented us with a jumble of depressing, disconnected pieces that drowns out the higher positives of this game.

The Last of Us 2 might be a groundbreaking game with its newest and freshest technological marvels, but those candid features last little when the deeper aspects have no ground to stand on. The story, a convoluted mess of cheap shocks and emo-ish themes trying to earn empathy points, an attempt which it massively fails. Ellie's beloved position in the game is reduced to nothing but a vessel of hatred for a cliched journey of a "revenge goes nowhere" trope. Joel, the beloved father figure, the paragon of what made The Last Of Us symbolical in its powerful narrative and poignant themes, is nothing more but a wasted plot device, or rather, a cheap shocker.

The skeletal frames of The Last Of Us are almost non-existent in its successor. The gameplay and graphics will be soon overshadowed by the soon-to-come games, and it's saving grace could have been its faithfulness to the original, but no. We were not granted that respect.

Pewdiepie said it best: "Did they not understand what made the first game good at all?"

As a queer woman, the representation didn’t bother me in the slightest and if anything I embraced it. But that is absolutely not what the vast majority of us are upset about, it’s everything else. The only moments that I was genuinely invested in were the flashbacks, and I do think that’s all the game needed to be, not this new revenge plot. It just feels like they were trying to turn The Last of Us into something it just wasn’t, and they strayed so far away from everything that made us love the first game.

I went into this game with completely open eyes. I didn’t see a single spoiler, thought the people who had seen the spoilers were overreacting and needed more context, was keeping a completely open mind, and had this blind faith in Naughty Dog because I genuinely believed that this would be the last studio that would screw up a story. I’m just completely devastated because of what could have been. Through the game you could see moments of it, but they’re the subplots, not the main one. The only character I felt invested in or even just found interesting was Dina, and personally I just couldn’t get enough of her. But as someone who grew up with Ellie, was a similar age and really just related to Ellie, the fact that she wasn’t on the forefront of my mind throughout this game was a big miss, and it just feels like to me that they butchered her character for the sake of a message. On top of that, it felt like they were trying to hard to compare (insert name here)‘s story to Ellie’s, and it just didn’t feel natural. Whilst I could see what they were going for, they just couldn’t pull it together, with an ending that just made me ask the question ‘what were they trying to do here ?’

My only hope for the future is that Naughty Dog can learn from this, because I honestly think it’d kill me to see this happen to Uncharted, another series I love so freaking much. The main problem they need to learn from in my opinion is that you can’t build a story around a message you want to convey, it’s the other way around. I’m still going to support them because this (for me, at least) will be the only blip on their record of fantastic games, and I do really look forward to seeing the stories of Chloe, Sam, Nadine and even Sully continue on. I do, however, think they need to leave The Last of Us alone for the sake of their fans. TL;DR: The Last of Us: Part 2 gives me the same feeling as season 8 of Game of Thrones all over again. Everything about it is perfection EXCEPT the story, which given the fact it’s a Naughty Dog game of all studios, shouldn’t be the case. And like season 8 of Game of Thrones, part of me wants to just forget it existed in order to restore the legacy of the original seasons/story
