This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played part one several years ago, and it was spectacular and I'd consider it one of the best games I've ever played.
I've been looking forward to this game since the day it was announced and have literally been counting down the days- I got hit with spoilers which is a huge bummer but I still kept my head high and had faith in Naughty Dog to pull off a masterpiece like they did with the first game. Sadly, and in my personal opinion, they didn't pull through.

The game-play mechanics and graphics are absolutely incredible and it is obvious that they took every small detail into account, but where it fell short was the story and this is why.
You play half of the game as Joel's killer which I thought was a complete bore, I didn't really enjoy playing as Abby whatsoever despite ND's attempts at making the player like her and paint our beloved main characters from the first game as enemies. I never expected myself to be rolling my eyes and yawning during the game I held a preorder with for just under three whole years.

Certain characters were also unrecognisable and had all the qualities which made them so loved in the first game thrown away completely.

The ending was unexpected, but anticlimactic. Ellie has killed hundreds and hundreds of people without hesitation, but when it comes to killing the person who shot Joel's leg off and murdered him with a golf club, shot Jesse in the face and killed him instantly, and shot Tommy in the face with the intent of killing him but missed his brain- she decided to let her go.

If I was rating the game off of game-play and graphics alone it'd be a 9.
If I was rating it off the story alone it'd be a 3, which is thoroughly disappointing from a company which I had so much faith in.

They shat on the characters and ruined the story. Then added gay stuff so they can blame homophobia for bad reviews.

I played through the first TLOU countless times, cried every time Sarah died completed it 100% grew to not only like but to relate to Joel, Ellie, Henry, Sam, Tommy and even Marlene. This game part 2 offers NONE of the qualities that made the first one not only good BUT a masterpiece. I have more respect for and carry more love towards Henry a character from the first that you play with for not even 1/5 of the story, then I will ever for Abby. She is an antagonist that you clearly are not here to relate to, given what she does at the beginning of the game without any exposition or explanation, yet you are forced to play as her for a good 8-10 hours of the game. Subverting expactions is NOT how you treat the sequel to one of the, if not the, most beloved PS4 titel of all time. We grew with, and came to love, relate and appreciate both Ellie and Joel through there story of grief, redemtion and hope from the first game, yet in this one it seems that the story writers either didnt play the first game or they didnt care about continuing the story where we left of. Joel accepting Sarah's death and Ellie hoping for a better future as a surrogate father daughter realationship. It breaks my heart to write all of this but I went into this game 100% blind and still with some hopes that all this negative attention the game was getting was wrong. To anyone calling this a "masterpiece" either you are bought or you just like the semi stealth gameplay to which I say go play assassins creed it offers similar stealth gameplay only better with a wider scope and not for 60 bucks. It breaks me to write this I loved ALL characters and the story from the first one such a shame they made it the way it is. I am still hoping it is all just a dream and we will wake up from this nightmare.

I have never seen such a ridiculous story. I've waited for this game for years. a complete disappointment. Why should I love the person who killed my favorite character? okay! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann made this game in this way to provoke people to argue over video games and to make even more money, I honestly believe this man made the first one with all his heart and soul, hoping to create a masterpiece, and that he did. But when he saw that he could make a **** ton of money by making a divisive game he could make people talk about it and sell more copies. In the spirit of this game lies literal lies, deceit and dishonesty. We were given trailers with Ellie and Joel, replaced with the asian guy, I cant even remember people's names from this game, that's how bad this game was. I'll even go as far as to say that this game was unforgettable but forgettable in a way, the story is trash with some trash plot twists and shock value. Joel literally dies in the first hour. Making Abby the worst villian of any video game ever. Later on a mexican guy spits on his caved in skull disrespecting him all that jazz. I wanna go on a rant about this game after 2 months but find it unnessecary to do so. This game checked off many of the current SJW check-boxes also, gay female main character, check, a strong independent woman as a villain, check, a PREGNANT woman going into battle with literal psychopaths, check, man weak women strong, check. I bought this game thinking I'd be playing this **** over and over like the first one but, was immediately disappointed when the credits rolled. And the ending, ohhh that **** was SOO DUMB. Imagine going on a killing spree, killing everybody even remotely close to Abby, and in the end not killing Abby because "dig two graves if you want revenge and revenge bad" clichés. It was the most aggrevating ending to a video game ever. They better not make TLOU3 or they'll go bankrupt. This was their shot, ND took it, missed it. Bury this game with the other "woke" games. $60 down the drain. Trash. Go play the first one it's literally the same game as this one but with better story. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first the last of us was about two people recovering each other in a world where everything seems to be hopeless, it was about an unsual kind of love: the one about a man and his “daugher”, and not about the overrated love story. It ended with hope, the image of a man ready to risk his life and to do the craziest things ever to save the one who made him understand that there can be cure for past tragedy, he actually says “no matter what you keep finding something to fight for”: no matter what may bring you down in your life, you’ll always have the opportunity to not give up and and find something for which is worth living.
And then what about the second chapter? what does it says to the player? To me it seems to be saying the exact opposite, contradicting the same message of the first one( and the dlc): life is nothing but keep suffering, it is empty, everything (so every happiness) is temporary, you end up living alone and with no reason to move on. I mean, I don’t know about others, but I used to rewatch tlou 1 to keep feeling that warm ambience and hope, and now guess If i’m going to do the same with the second one... That’s such a pity.
Anyway, Of course graphics are to, but what’s the point of something that has a nice “container” if then the viewers don’t manage to create a true deep (constructive ) connection with protagonists? Emotions and feelings are The ingredients to make a movie/videogame or whatever immortal and a legend

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game itself from visuals, sound all the way to voice acting was perfect. It looks beautiful and the atmosphere is beautiful. But the story the main point in getting this game, is horrible.

Joels death was rushed and pretty bad. The circumstances with the horde and the blizzard was a nice excuse to make him follow Abby into his death. But considering how smart they both were in the last game, that made no sense. They know they are wanted atleast Joel should know. He would never say his name like that. The way he died was also humilating, ganged ab by 10 People, after beeing immobilzed and then yea, golf.

The next thing about the plot that is terrible: the way it evolves. Not only are you forced on playing abby and dismantle Ellie and Dina, but she also kills Jesse the way he got introdruced by opening a door within miliseconds.

After that Tommy is heavely wounded and cant proceed on his path of revenge, which is fine, even tho Yara beeing right there at that time made no sense, same for Manny and Abby not beeing able to open the door, but after manny gets shot in the head she just jumps through it, like a saloon door.

So far: Abby killed Joel, wounded Tommy, who cant even walk proplery anymore because his leg got shot with an arrow, dismanteld ellie whose spirit got crushed anyways after she killed her friends. I like that part tho, she is human and somehow regrets what she is doing.

Tommy not beeing able to pursue her was tragic, but him beeing so out of character is just terrible. I can see the way Neil portrayed him here, Guy lost his brother, divorced his wife, lost an eye and cant walk amymore. But the way he took it out on ellie felt wrong there.

    Fast forwarding to the end..

So you're there you dont get an option to kill her, youre just forced to let her go after you feed your fingers to her, which I will get to in a second, is probably the most unsatisfying thing you can do, it would be nice if you could atleast choose to let her go if you really wanted to: But this is just bad writing. The symbolic messages after the fight when she returns to the farm when she noticed that her pursue of revenge costed her fingers, the only thing that could still remind her at joel with the song she could play was pretty heavy to take in, and I kinda like the idea that neil had in mind, but then again... Abby got away, everything was kind off pointless. Not only did Neil spit on joels legacy but you also destroyed Ellies character. She was already broken after Joels death, everything she did and over losing Dina. But her forcing to leave the guitar there and loosing all she had just demolished what was builded with TLOU and Left Behind.

In conclusion: Revenge didnt work, except for abby she got what she wanted, she lives, with lev and goes to the fireflies. Ellie just leaves the farm, with an open future. She wont get to remind herself anymore at joel.

My recommendation to all of you, who are disapointed: Pretend this game never happend and keep TLOU legacy with honor and dignity in your memories.

My last words to this game: burn in hell, pendejo tfu

This game is an unbelievable mess, characters are misused and wasted, the plot is tired and predictable and half way through this game it pulls an unfortunate MGS2 switch a roo. Characters make decisions that are questionable concerning their own personality and history and the ending is complete trash. All I can say is that the graphics and animations are top quality. On top of that the gameplay is reasonably fun and brutal, however it gets incredibly repetitive and boring after a while.

I am sad and confused and have no idea where to direct these emotions, and not in a good way. The game is more deep than the leaks let on, but the story is ultimately not what the fans wanted, and frankly not a story that does anyone any justice. The game is bittersweet, but like 70% bitter.

Also, virtually no one is upset about the game having LGBT characters. If anything, it's the virtue signaling of those characters and the unnatural use of them to (arguably) disingenuously push an agenda on the public. Please stop that narrative as it is false. The game is unlikable, accept it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I only recently experienced The Last of Us, and it's a shame to say that this game was an utter disappointment. The writing is a major step down from the last game, and the story it does try to tell is bare, and utterly cliched. "Revenge is bad", yeah you don't say. But the thing is, Abby couldn't show sympathy, why should Ellie? Abby is painted as a bad character from the start, AND SHE IS! She never actually redeems herself. And don't even get me started on the major step down already well-written characters received. Joel suddenly lost all of his years of experience as a survivor, AND THAT GOT HIM KILLED! This is my first time reviewing a game here, and I'm going to be fair. I'll split the game into two categories: Story / Narrative, and gameplay. Graphics are nice but don't make the game any more enjoyable so I won't add that to the review. Story: 0/5 - Gameplay: 4/5. In total, this game comes out at a total disappointing score of 4/10. The Last of Us 2 at times with it’s graphical presentation and ultra smooth control can be awe inspiring. The attention to detail that was so evident with the first returns in some of it’s sprawling environments. Naughty Dog should be commended for that. Character models are top notch and the sound is the type of quality you expect from Naugthy Dog. Where the game falters is in its story telling, pacing and the overall direction of its character development. There is not one like able character to be had in this story. Everyone even the main character of Ellie is portrayed as being wholly monsters and for some of the previous characters who were established and beloved in part one they make choices that are counter to everything we know them to be. Many choices taken by them serve to only push the next plot point forward regardless if its something they actually would have done which is a huge no-no when it comes to writing well thought out character development. Quite Frankly the handling of the legacy characters of this franchise leaves much to be desired and thats my main take away. The last of Us 2 leaves a lasting feeling of leaving to much to be desired, things you felt never should have happened to or with the majority of its cast. Where as the first game had little rays of hope and light in this game there exist none. Its one bleak depressing slog from start to finish. Playing as the games new co protagonist Abby was one of my personal worst experiences in gaming after some of the egregious acts she partakes in. The continued forcing to switch to her really hurt my overall gaming experience. I simply did not like this character for her actions and there was nothing that could make me like her after what she does. She came across as the games clear cut villain and it was never going to go over well with the majority of gamers to be forced to play with her in this game. She will go down as one of the most polarizing hated characters in gaming history. Overall The Last of Us 2 outstanding presentation, accessibility, and character design can not make up for such a poorly executed story. TLOU2 strayed far from its predecessor in many ways, to the point of absurdity. A main beloved character dies in the most cheesiest way possible (Neegan anyone? We've seen this over and over again). Cheap shock value, lazy writing.

ND can say what they want about these negative reviews, truth is....Story is everything in a game like this. I personally didn't want to play as Abbie, most didn't care about Abbie either. That section of the game just wasn't interesting. That's really it. This ain't about agendas, or whatever wokeness you want to put in the game. It just simply wasn't interesting.

4/10 - Graphics, music, environments were phenomenal. But the story and pacing is what really killed it for me. Story is everything to me when it comes to games like this. I understand that Neil wanted to create shock value...But this ain't a series that comes out every year to do that with....These games take up to 7 years to make just to throw away the previous 7 years? The good. The graphics are beautiful and probably the best I've seen on console so far. The attention to detail is absurd. The bad. The story is weak at the best of times and cruel and vulgar at it's worst. It's almost as if ND is mocking the player for feeling connected to Ellie and Joel. Plus the sex scene. Neil you're a gross weirdo.

First and foremost, the gameplay, flashback sections, and graphics are what singlehandedly saves this game from what is the worst **** story ever written in all existence and why I'm giving this game a 4 instead of a 0. Remember that LOU2 panel awhile back where neil said, "We wanted to honor these characters so just trust us, we're gonna do right by you"? Remember that? kill one of our favorite main characters in the first 2 hours in the most retarded out of character way possible by the most unlikable character ever, spend the entire game as a hollow burned out ellie killing everybody around her but right when the player finally gets to kill the one who we, the players, really wanna kill, we decide to just let her live instead....... oh yeah..... and we spend damn near the whole 2nd part of the game as this **** who killed our favorite MC as the game tries to get us to sYmPaTHiZe with this **** cuz sHe'S gOt fEeLiNgS tOo and vEnGeAnCe LeAdS 2 mORe vEnGeaNcE mAnNn. so ellie lets her go and she gets away with neil and anita's new bargain bin ellie while our ellie goes home to find everyone she ever cared about gone and now she's broken, empty, and alone with a mangled hand and can no longer play guitar.....................right................. The developer said the game wasn't supposed to be "fun" but "engaging", but the fact is that you need some fun moments between the dark stuff, otherwise you end up with a mess like this. Top that off with some of the most mind numbingly boring cover shooter gameplay, a common trait in Naughty Dog games, and you end up with a game that's just not entertaining to play through. I also wasn't a huge fan of LoU1 either because it also felt very bland gameplay wise. A decent story and amazing graphics can't save this game from it's bland gameplay and constant dark tone. If they had more hopeful moments the game would be much higher on my rating scale, however it doesn't. As such I feel a 4/10 is a perfect spot. The game is below average in all respects other than graphics, and that's what makes me disappointed in it. Expand

The story chooses to be profound and complicated instead of satisfying. I didn't like the ending Ellie recieved as she just walked away, with no girlfriend and no plans for the future. The finale is the worst. Ellie kills countless enemies in revenge even a pregnant woman to avenge Joel's death and then when she actually is about to kill Abby by drowning her she lets her leave because it is only at that point she has a realisation. The player is left with the an unsatisfying finale and a feeling of emptiness. At the end I felt like I had wasted all the time that I had spent playing it becuase it was not satisfying wheras in the The Last of Us I was satsfied that their journey had come to a fitting end and the bond that Joel and Ellie had developed was amazing., Expand

Graphics are absolutely stunning beautiful on a 4K TV or monitor truly taking advantage out of the PS4 Pro
Graphics are a 9/10 Now the story is where it really hurts the game it is beyond a slap to the players face for the game to force us to play as Joel’s killer and to feel sympathy for her though out her chapters. And for Elle go to on a quest of revenge to immediately let the killer if Joel loose at the end of the game I wanted Abby to be killed so badly for all the pain she caused Elle. I will never understand why naughty dog wanted us to feel sympathetic for a character we did not want to in the beginning Story 4/10

I remember when i cried in the E3 reveal of this game, that happiness is all gone now. It's all about the writing. Yeah, the gameplay is likable, the visual quality and details are gorgeous, but it really does not compensate the narrative in a game that have story and characters heavily as its appeal.

Joel is emptied and used explicitly just as a plot device, the character and interactions are bad, with absence of a good development, there's plotholes, some scenes and dialogues feel too forced, the writing tries to make you sympathize with the main antagonist, which would not be a problem if did right, and guess it? It fails at it. The ending is the worst part of it, cause it just throws everything out the window, it's not coherent with the character, it's not coherent with anything, it's all forced for the sake of the message (and it could've been done in a lot of consistent ways.

The game don't really have a "SJW agenda", but as a result of the previous talked bad character interactions, these things feel really forced and unnatural as well, take as example a moment when Ellie and Dina have sex. You can feel that scene is so unnaturally written and in a bad scenario. I don't think the diversity was forced, but it definitely wasn't handled well.

The Last of Us Part II had a incredible amount of wasted potential, it's a spit on the face of TLOU fans and any people who knew the potential of this sequel. Neil Druckmann shows he's a terrible writer, and i would blame just him for this disappointment, but Naughty Dog is not innocent, manipulating reviews and false advertising the plot in the trailers. This game is not worth buying, unless you want to play it not caring about the story (which i doubt, it's TLOU).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics: 9/10 This is about the best the PS4 can push out

Sound: 8/10 Music and voices are done well. The call outs of enemies added more suspense.

Environment: 7/10 Immersive at the best of times, but can drag on in many places to make advancing feel like a chore.

Gameplay: 5/10 Same as the first game

Pacing: 2/10 So little time spent enjoying character growth and so much time spent in misery. Horrible time jumps that ruin whatever good story was left.

Characters: 2/10 Introduced several forgettable fodder characters that you will not care about and a few that you will hate. Old characters personalities are retconned in order to advance the awful plot.

Story: 1/10 This game felt like two teams fighting each other on what game to make. The flashback scenes with Joel and Ellie felt like the first game in the best way and left me wanting so much more. The majority of the game sadly is spent as either rebellious lesbian Ellie or roid rage Abby in one of the worst examples of a creator not understanding what made their initial creation great in the first place.

Ending: 0/10 In some vain attempt at passing along a moral to this horrid story they twist the characters to such extremes that you can place no expectations on what they will be doing the next time naughty dog decides to beat this poor dead zombie horse.

    very good and fun.

the biggest weakness, which also worsens the whole game. The game tries to make you feel bad permanently with many things. You play a large part as the villain, which would not be so bad if the person had at least a little bit of charisma or wasn't just interested in me wishing her an agonizing death.
You hurt and sometimes kill as villain important and endearing characters that you couldn't prevent and that's another thing that makes the game worse. You hardly ever play important moments in the game yourself! Sometimes you just hit the hit button or just watch the cutscene for two minutes where the important things happen. without you being allowed to decide anything. Often these are decisions that are exactly the opposite of how you would do it because the game becomes even more unpleasant, which is why it never felt like you were controlling the character of a story game, but of a simple action game. ND wants you to feel bad, so gameplay, story and the universe of tlou had to suffer. Many important characters have died in this part and will never return and the part cannot be rewritten or replaced. The entire world of tlou is almost destroyed with one game. This is why i give 4 out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I will begin with that the graphics and the detail put in this game is something amazing. The hard work of the people who worked on it can be seen and I commend them for that. If this game were about graphics and the such in which the plot takes a second place like a call of duty or a multiplayer all would be alright but sadly that isn't the case for a game whose main selling point is the story I feel the choices they made weren't the best. There are some interesting things in the game which build and expand some things from the previous one but they are so little and so in between that is hard to enjoy them. This game was advertised as a story about revenge and sadly it doesn't even fulfill that while there is some of it through the game that idea is half abandoned and then sloppy bring back at the end to the point it doesn't make sense anymore. I think that they would had a better result just exploring how life is now in a world with no cure and how after all this time people are trying to survive which in my opinion is the most interesting of the game. Seeing how cults and gangs are now being formed how even when rebuilding has begun people still seems to devolve into beings that are as bad as monsters. How things are worse instead of improving. I think that a story like that would had been better for this game. I may be wrong but I wanted to at least offer a suggestion. While pointing out my dissapointment Expand

A good story doesn't deserve a bad sequel.

I'd give awards to the artists, not the writers the writers/directors deserve nothing imo. Gameplay you will have some exciting running scenes/fighting, some nice action on occasion.. Will you like this game? probably not. You will feel bummed out more than you will feel the feeling of fun, they didn't add much new gameplay mechanics from the 1st game. Games are made for entertainment and story, this fails on both and that for most people. Who told them that this was a good idea for the story? who was leading them to go this way? yeah I didn't like it, its not the worst thing in the world, I'd recommend it for the beautiful scenery, definitely not the story, its a shame that the story is so much worser than the original tlou, and noo I'm not a bot, or right wing lmao, Sorry Jva, I really wanted to like this too, I have an open mind usually, I'm sure others will enjoy this just not me, and the majority of players. This game has so much potential but falls on its face more than anything I have ever seen. I'd like to list some pros for this game before I explain. The level design from a graphical standpoint and flow standpoint is incredible. The character models are amazing. Sound design is amazing, and finally, the controls and mechanics really do feel flawless. However, in a story-based game, all of those things don't matter if your story is a complete dumpster fire which this story is. Characters lack any sort of development. I literally don't care when anything happens to anyone, but Ellie. Every single one of them could die and it would not change how I felt about the game or them at all. The only time I feel any sort of emotion is in flashbacks because that's the only time I see any sort of character development at all. Otherwise, this game left me bored out of my mind. I found myself working through areas faster and faster just to get to the next cutscene in the hopes it would get somewhat better spoiler alert it does not. Most of the character development and good thought out story bits you're going to see are within the trading cards you can find throughout the map as collectibles and honestly, I'd rather read and collect all those than ever play this story again. The second issue I have with the game is with the ending I won't spoil it for anyone, but those of us that played the game understand how bad it truly is and I don't think that we would be having this discussion if it was at least a choice. However, it is not you are forced into the decision it makes, which I can guarantee is not the decision 95% of the player base would have made. The ending straight up feels like a slap in the face as you have worked the entire game for one goal and it makes all that work and effort useless. That's why I gave this game a 4/10, everything about the game is great except for the story which is a major issue in a story-based single player experience. To the team at Naughty Dog who worked on this game brushing up the mechanics, creating the environments, and working on the sound design you did an amazing job. To the team at Naughty Dog who wrote the story, I hope you never touch another project in your life. Just to reiterate this story is so poorly written that imagine if in Uncharted 4 instead of its ending Nathan gives up on his quest halfway through and goes home. That is basically how I felt after this story, honestly, I'd ask for a refund but at this point, I don't even care. I don't want to spend any more time thinking about this game, playing it, or writing about it; this is it. Finally, I am incredibly disgusted by the way Neil has handled the backlash. I'm aware this game has been review bombed but for those of us who actually played the game, his reaction to our criticisms seems like another blow to the gut. On Twitter, he's made jokes about the reviews and that's just a shame he can't admit to his own shortcomings and mistakes, but I really do expect nothing less from him as he's clearly shown he does not care about fans from the story he's written. That is why this game is a 4/10. I'd recommend never touching it, don't let it taint your opinion on the series like it did mine. Just know Ellie and Joel are out there surviving just like the end of The Last of Us and let it end there. Thank you for taking the time to read this large review I truly hope it helps some of you find peace knowing you're not alone in your thoughts even if the Games director will laugh in your face, and I hope those of you who have not purchased it now have some sense of the anger the community has felt and will think twice. Ellie was also left without two fingers, without Dina and without Tommy ... In this game, a wonderful atmosphere of music, wonderful localization, locations and so on. But the plot leaves much to be desired ... The plot is twisted and in some places it is not clear, to these moments the questions are asked "Why it was shown and why" Here's an example of a scene where Abby and Owen make love, the question "WHY?" Why did the Naughty Gog show this scene and why? What did they want to influence us with this scene? I'm not saying now that Abby has a terrible figure, but guys! Each one has her own and not for you to decide! Someone was lucky with a figure, someone not! In general, the game is good, but I give her 4.5 points. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay was pretty good as well. But...
I expected a lot more from Naughty Dog. The story is terrible.
Firstly, Abby kills Joel (protaganist in TLOU1) in the beginning and a few hours later, we are forced to play as Abby. There is zero player motivation to play as Abby. I just wanted her dead the entire time. Why am I playing as her? The writers then decide to guilt-trip (so we can empathize with Abby) the player by showing us Abby's humanity, story and how we (Ellie) murdered her friends. It didn't work because we have already killed so many other people along the way who also had friends and family. I had to sit through 10 hours of Abby gameplay. I was so happy when it ended.

Ludonarrative dissonance. A pregnant lady in the game insists on going into combat, and all her friends are ok with it? There is no mention of how it's irresponsible and stupid. No? ok... Next, Joel would never trust anybody in the TLOU1, but in TLOU2, he just enters a room full of strangers and gets killed....seriously? Next, Abby was saved by Yara, Abby is determined to repay her kindness by getting her meds. But when Joel saves Abby, she does not hesitate to kill Joel. Ok, I guess she wanted Joel dead because he murdered her dad. I'll let this slip.

The new characters introduced have so little screentime and are not very likeable.
The cycle of revenge never ends. Where is the character development in the story? Ellie wants to kill Abby. Ok, that's a start. Next, Abby wants to kill Ellie when she kills Abby's friends. Nearing the end when Ellie fails, She decides to try and kill Abby again. When does this end? Well, the end is bad. Nothing gets solved (Ellie and Abby live).
One could argue that the theme of revenge is that it does not solve anything, but it doesn't change the fact that I felt like I wasted my time seeing nothing get accomplished.

So, you liked the Last of Us huh... Who didn't. So to put it bluntly, STAY AWAY FROM THE GAME OR ANYTHING RELATED TO THE PLOT. It's bad, you really don't want to know what happens. They've somehow made one of the worst sequels in all media I've seen, out of one of the best games ever. I'm not gonna hint what happens, but there is a very painful moment that happens near the beginning of the game. If you loved the first game, it'll definitely put a sour taste in your mouth for months. That's all I'm gonna say about that, I just really don't want to think about it. Like seriously, what were the writers thinking. You'd have to be brain dead to think people would be fine with it.

Now the characters. I never had an issue with the new Ellie really, I know many other people did but other than her issue with a bigot sandwich, her agenda wasn't too eye rolling for me. But all the new characters are throw aways. None of them were well written, or at least written to be enjoyable to play as or watch.

I can't really say anything else without spoiling stuff, just don't play this game. The atmosphere is amazing, the combat is fun and usually doesn't get stale which is why this isn't a 1 out of 10. But if you're a fan of the first game, I beg you not to even look at this game.

Playing as the main antagonist for 5 hours in some weak attempt to garner sympathy and empathy for her is the absolute weakest narrative choice I’ve ever seen in any video game. It really is a shame they’ve shoved politics and inclusivity to the forefront of one of the greatest games of all time. And instead of just making an amazing story, they pander to the woke progressive left that cares more about diversity of characters than actual quality and emotional depth. I was so thrilled for the day it finally released... but I was let down... The graphics are breath taking, the controls are pretty smooth to me. But the story.... oh god the story... It is a mess. I was beyond devastated... The first The Last of Us has a brilliant story and it tries its best to hold you in its grasp and won't release you until the end. Part to does the exact opposite... It slaps you in the face. PArt 2 is more like a retarded little brother than a full fletched Sequel.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mechanically and technically, this game is good, with beautiful graphics and smooth gameplay. But that doesn't make the game good standalone. The story is forced and poorly written. It is not the concept of Joel's death that boggles my mind, but more the fashion in which he dies. An amazing well thought out character with the most dishonorable death one can imagine. Ellie's personality pulls a complete 180 and now apparently is the antagonist. You must play as Abby for nearly half of the game despite the game supposedly being from Ellie's point of view, and Naughty Dog forces you to "sympathize" with Abby via a load of forced cutscenes that attempt to make the player feel for Abby. The ending is ridiculous in how Ellie has one flashback of Joel and decides to forgive Abby for everything despite killing many to reach Abby and losing two fingers in the process. That alongside the fact that Joel, by no means, was a pacifist, so a vision of Joel should only make Ellie's want for revenge stronger. Further, on Joel's death, Joel survived in this world for nearly 26 years, he would know not to reveal all of his information to a couple of strangers that he just met. Joel is the man that ran over a man pretending to be hurt because he knew it was an ambush. He also is the man that left a family on the side of the road in the VERY beginning of the outbreak, so Joel has no reason to give away all that he did. With all of that, the game gets worse with the obvious political agenda that ND and Druckmann have going on with this game. For example, during the party, after Dina and Ellie kissed, Seth called them a not so nice word, the next day, he made them sandwiches and genuinely seemed sorry, but Ellie was not forgiving, claiming that he is a "bigot", yet Ellie forgives Abby, a murderer because she had a flashback of Joel.

In conclusion, it is evident that Abby has plot armor, that the story is poorly written and full of holes and loose ends, there is a lackluster ending that poorly represents the cycle of revenge, and there is a clear political agenda that is within this game.
In other words, just play the first one and forget this ever happened.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm going to begin this review by talking about the good points of The Last Of Us Part 2:

    1. Gameplay is awesome.
    2. The graphics and level design are superior to any other game I've seen. 3. The crafting system works well.

If I'm being totally honest, they're the only things that I actually liked about the game. Over the course of 21 hours (total gameplay) I found myself frustrated, angry and upset with how the writers had approached this method of story telling. I see various reviewers giving this game the title of 'Game Of The Year' however, I find these same people to have no emotional connection with the first entry and its characters. Having a screen writer such as Hailey Gross - I was expecting the story to really take off however, this wasn't the case. If the death of Joel wasn't bad enough and approached in the most careless way imaginable, you're then forced to play as Abbey for the remainder of the game, whom kills Joel. Often, through out the game, the screen writers painted Joel in a bad light and other characters were somewhat cold towards him. I Feel as though naughty dog have gone back on themselves. Instead of continuing a story about the relationship of Ellie and Joel, they writers often deconstructed the emotional connection you had with both characters and replaced that with less interesting characters. Also, I feel as though the agenda of Ellie and Dinnas relationship was only wrote in to appease a particular audience. I didn't mind they wanted to have some lgqbt stuff within the game however, the foundation of the game wasn't built on this so, why are they pushing it so hard in the second? I'm not 'small minded' for thinking this way however, I just find it unnecessary when the first game was never about that apart from the left behind DLC.

You're not even 'rewarded' for the death of Joel which is sad. I guess the real winners are naughty dog whom lied about the leaks which were more than accurate. Instead of pushing feminist/SJW/LGQBT agendas on the fans of the first game, you could of stayed loyal to the fans and continued on with the relationship between Ellie and Joel. I will not be going back for the third installment.

This isn't a hoax review - you can check my gamer tag stevieorbell to see I've finished the game. What an emotionless, dull and pointless story. Everyone I know plays the last of us for its story and naughty dog have done their upmost best to destroy arguably one of the best video games in modern history.
