    Let’s be honest, the game is close to perfection. The emotional rollercoaster you experience is like nothing else. If people don’t agree with the story, please stop reading books. Take the stories as the writer made them. The acting of the characters is so good and the switch between a cutscenes and gameplay is like it should be. Naughty Dog, please don’t never change!

Also I didn't wanted to play when Abby almost killed Ellie in the theather. Joel's death affects me but it isn't a reason to hate the game. If I played more with Ellie and less with Abby I would love the game. Thats why I rate this game with an 8. I hope ND release a part 3!… Expand

Its honestly not the way to go, great mechanics, and game play, but the story is horrible, why would you lie to "us" in the trailer with young joel, and also why would you make "us" play as abby, its like you're laughing at "us". If the story was joel dying early, and then the plot of Ellie getting revenge, it would be an awesome game, but you made a weird mess by making Ellie do "horrible" things to get to abby to then just forgive her, it doesn't make sense, humans dont work like that. And also not having multiplayer was was kind of disapointing, I have heard that you might add it later or as its own game, and I hope you do great on that one.… Expand

    Odiei a forma como descaracterizaram o Joel e a Ellie continuou agindo de forma imatura, mesmo após o ocorrido com o Joel, mas em relação ao gameplay, há uma notória melhoria em relação ao primeiro jogo.

Characters live and die in this game and the ending is heart-wrenching.

    It would’ve been easy to make a carbon copy of the first game where Joel and Ellie go off on some linear adventure and live happily ever after. What part II does is brave and daring with the plot and the characters, and it’s an unique experience I hope you do not miss.    … Expand

Then right when you're about to get revenge for Ellie you switch and play as the villain. It is incredibly boring and you feel the next 10 hours of gameplay be just a chore. The ending is completely unsatisfying where we see Ellie still not getThis was the most disappointing video game of all time.     I think naughty dog took a risk with the story but it definitely paid off. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is like the first game only improved and the story is what I expected. The larger areas to explore made the world feel more alive. Full of emotion and violence. Perfect

The story is told in a enjoyable way even though it isn't as deep as it would like you to believe. But what - for me - keeps it from being a masterpiece besides the obvious story turns is the pacing.

But what - for me - keeps it from being a masterpiece besides the obvious story turns is the pacing.

    It takes way to long and stretches everything far too much. After a while it lead to me disassociating with the character of the first half completely and just keep marching on to end it. Different to many people I enjoyed the second part a lot more than the first. There was no story ballast left from before. The second characters story - though as transparent as the first ones - had a lot of growth that was coming to her for a long time and was catalysed by the companion characters.

    The ending isn't great either. The final fight destroys a lot of what was narratively built up and then changes the gear back almost immediately as to make the whole struggle between the characters even more annoying and futile. There is nothing in the fight that should trigger the reaction it does, that shouldn't have been triggered before. Even both characters just silently parting ways would have been more impactful.

    tl;dr: With less obvious writing and a tighter pacing this game could have been exceptional. Now it's still pretty good though.    … Expand

    Truly a human experience. This game is a utter emotional ride. Dark, bleak, depressing, yet very human. Loved the ending as well. No spoilers but if you want a game that can really bring you in emotionally then you need to play it. Naughty dog were able to make a artificial world feel real and believable.

Man I had to create an account just to confirm, yes I played the game, took my time until later on the game when I just wanted it to end, I just couldn't bear anymore the game trying to push on me to like Abby, I mean you just can't after the brutal way she kills Joel, maybe if you were introduced to her first I could care about her, but not like this, the game constantly forces the hand (Ellie killing dogs, Abby pets them, fking arms like Conan, playing as Abby against Ellie is notouriously difficult just so you despise her) even the final fight they completely change the appearance of Abby, yea you say she hasn't eated and couldn't get her roids but even then the game tricks you with another braided hair NPC that looks like her, this isn't the same person that killed Joel it diminishes your anger, the flashbacks are amazing and thats because it's the story we wanted to see, heck you can even make an entire game based on new characters and thats fine but the way they presented the new characters and intertwined both stories is so wrong I just wanted it to end, I genuinely wanted to stop playing several times, and I came here to say so, I did play the game, but this is just like GoT ending.… Expand

    To be honest TLOU Part 2 does not deserve ten out of ten. But this game cannot critisized that low. Apart from it's story gameplay, visuals, animations, musics are nearly perfect. The game was in the verge of greatness but we the gaming community treated it too harshly. I'm just giving that 10 to get that game to the place it deserves.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first I was trying to not get on the hate bandwagon for the game, and at a point in my playthrough I’d have given it a higher score. But after finishing the game, a few things could’ve been done better. Namely, how Abby’s group got ahold of Joel, and the structure of the game. I think they could’ve made him getting captured much more believable, even if it’s just snippets throughout the games flashbacks showing how he’s gotten kinder to strangers, and is quicker to trust them after being sheltered in a community for four years. He was essentially living the high life (or at least the kind you could live in a post-apocalyptic world), and they could’ve highlighted that in certain scenes of the game a lot better.

    The other thing would be to structure the game better, and to make it so you aren’t just hopping around a three day time period and then going in to a flashback during the flashback when you play as Abby. Aside from those major gripes, the games actually very good, story and gameplay-wise, and I don’t know what people are so irrationally angry about.    … Expand

Play the game and find out which one are you. It does have some writing issues, but it's still enjoyable and great nonetheless

    No le recomiendo este juego a nadie que allá jugado el anterior, la historia parece sacada de un fanfic regulero y no una producción AAA.
    Seguirá ablando mas pero eso sería entra en spoilers y es un terreno que no me gusta andar.

No meu caso, na minha primeira vez jogando o game fiquei extremamente bravo com a Abby e me negava a gostar dela mas com o desenvolvimento dos outos personagem como Yara e Lev comecei a criar empatia… Expand

It did make a monster out of Ellie by the end, however, I feel like that was necessary for the moment of catharsis. The ending provides a message of hope for characters who have lost everything. It was not an easy playthrough, but then again neither was part one. The game still centred around the beauty of human relationships amidst chaos and ruin. It was brutal and great.… Expand

    While the last of us was a game that was a gut wrenching story portraying the development of a parent-child relationship on the backdrop on an apocalyptic world that successfully was able to show the cruelty the such a world and ambiguous choices that humanity would need to face, this sequel, specially taking into account the current situation leaves you emotionally empty.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First let me say this game was not all bad. Like many people I thoroughly enjoyed the visuals, the storyline at the beginning in Jackson, and Dina and Ellie’s side story. However, that’s about all I can say for the good parts.

    I’m sure at some point (maybe even soon) this comment will be taken down since it is going to be very critical of the game. Fine by me. This game completely destroyed everything the first one built. From Ellie and Joel’s relationship becoming fuller and more compassionate, to Ellie’s character development in strength and understanding of the world. This game had so much potential to be great, and I think a lot of us expected a storyline that was much different. Especially considering the original trailers for the game were not even accurate to gameplay. I mean, ya’ll even said Ellie was going to be the only playable character in the game when you were first developing it, so I guess that was either a lie or you changed your mind, but either way, poorly executed.

    Personally I feel like any of the fans could have written a more comprehensible and well organized game in their sleep. I think the message of the game that hate and revenge get you nowhere would have been much more well received if you had given the fans time to dive into the story a little before throwing Ellie out into the thick of it. Why didn’t we get to see more about life in Jackson? Why wasn’t Ellie’s relationships with HER BEST FRIENDS not shown more? Why would you kill Joel in the FIRST FREAKING HOUR OF THE GAME??? Don’t get me wrong, I think killing Joel was an essential part of Ellie’s character arc, but the way this was all gone about was dreadful. It’s like you took the original characters and watered them down to a milk toast version of themselves that would be more commercially palatable. Oh my god, and Abby’s storyline! How could I forget? Why would you have people play as Abby for a majority of the game? I’m sorry was this supposed to be all about her? You could have easily given Abby her own game. Hell I would have played that! But no, all you wanted to do was keep fans guessing the whole way through the game. Around every corner a new twist you never expected. You wanna know why we didn’t expect some of those twists and turns, because they made the game intolerable. They didn’t make any sense! From Ellie’s TWO opportunities to kill Abby, to her leaving Dina after they made a life together, even Tommy’s lack of understanding for Ellie not wanting to go after Abby anymore (but then still going after her for some reason after she spent the whole game trying to keep Dina, like wtf??). I mean, wasn’t Ellie the one who had to convince Tommy to go after Abby in the first place? Why the flip between characters? To create parallels?? Crap. Absolute crap.

    I’m sure there are people out there who appreciate the game, but I am not one of those people, and I encourage you to wait until this game goes on clearance to play it. DO NOT waste your money, borrow a copy from a friend if you really wanna play it that bad. Naughty Dog and Neil Druckman do not deserve your hard earned cash for this absolute garbage heap of a game. Kudos to the people who worked hard and put real passion and effort into this game, I’m sorry you had to see something with so much potential get ruined by someone without vision. I’m looking at you Neil. Way to blow.    … Expand

    Good game except for the history but is actually not that bad it's meh, i like a lot the graphics and the gameplay

    This game is utterly boring and monotonous when compared to Last of Us ‘part 1’. The entirety of the games is spent as follows: go to an area, fight 5-10 people/ zombies, solve a simple puzzle, rinse and repeat for nearly the entire game.

    It is SO boring, the plot does not carry the weight of the game like 1 did, and the open areas would be a cool concept... if there was anything you could loot other than cloth, blades and ammo... who cares. I can’t believe that if they were going to do something as bold and polarizing as killing Joel they would also fill the game with boring repetitive sequences. I love getting to know Ellie, I love her as a character, but there needs to be more to this game. It is too repetitive... too boring to be standalone. There is absolutely no room for a sequel.

    This game is missing the heart that one had, it’s sad because it was my favorite game... 1 left me feeling something that other video games/ movies did not... 2 left me feeling disappointed.    … Expand

So I tired very hard to like this game being such a huge fan of the first one I played it twice to see if I would enjoy it more the second time.... Not really honestly my rating is a 6.5 but it won’t let me. While I loved the graphics and some aspects of the game were very fun a lot of it just got old. Since most of the game takes place in Seattle everything looks the same so trying to remember where stuff is (hidden stashes) for extra play throughs is difficult. The quasi open world part of the game in the beginning was pretty fun. The fight system was better then the first but still had some problems and has been done better by 100s of other games. The worst part of this game is the story with massive plot holes and characters making choices that just doesn’t make sense. Also having us play as the other female character in this to try and see her side was boring she is not relatable or even a decent person. I found myself trying to rush thru her part to get back to Ellie even tho the game was trying very hard to make her the villain. The diversity in the game was a great idea but didn’t really work out the way I think naughty dog intended it was to on the nose and none of the characters were honestly likable anyone could of played their parts and it would have been the same story. Then the games ending made ZERO sense at all she had a flash back making her pursue Abby... then had another flash back after saving Abby telling her she needed to kill her then after she almost kills her and has her fingers bitten off she has another flash back telling her to let Abby go.... so she gave up everything she had to kill Abby then just let her go...lol. There is no closure in the game making the games replay ability very low which sucks since the first I could, and still can play over and over again. So graphics 10/10...combat solid 7 or 8 story a 4 it was bad....But if you enjoyed the game then you win honestly not worth 60 bucks to me but if I had bought it for 30 a year later I would probably feel better about it..... EDIT: So back months later to see if another play through would change my mind.... It didn’t.... Still a solid 6-6.5 at best.… Expand

    Rant: I am disappointed at the false hate on the game. Just because Joel died doesn't mean the game is doo doo. Many of these people are babies that saw their favorite youtubers disliking the game and hate comments from other babies and assume to hate too. The worst part is most of these dummies didn't even watch or play the game which is absolutely immature. Imagine working years on a game your insanely proud of just to be hated on and called crap because of your bosses belief or a character dying. Btw the story was phenomenal and I actually liked Abby's character. People only hate the game because they are FORCED to hate the game. If people even speak their mind they are shamed or yelled at which is ridiculous by babies who haven't played the damn game. I also played the game blind and didnt watch any leaks or spoilers which is why I enjoyed it so much.Also, dunkey is a godamn champ for being true to what he thought about the game and speaking facts. This game doesn't deserve the metabombing it got at all. The graphics are f*cking incredible. The story was a bit meh and the game play was fun although nothing new in terms of it.     Completely throws away the classic Hero's Journey model (also used in the first game) that's been used in Western storytelling since the beginning of time, and not in a good way. The game definetly has excellent graphics, character animations/great facial expressions,weapons and customization options, good sound quality and solid AI, but the storyline is very disappointing. I think that after ending of the first chapter losing Joel in such a controversial manner wasn't appropriate. Moreover being obliged to play and emphasize with the character that killed him for literally ages feels very forced and painful . The ending is the worst though, it made me feel depressed and empty, like i wasted money and time for nothing.

    As someone who was diagnosed with PTSD this franchise has and continues to strike a very deep cord with me. The narrative of a damaged soul finding meaning in life through other people with the first game, and in this game showing how a traumatic event involving someone you love can drive you down dark and even insane roads is intensely beautiful.     I had the true pleasure of just beating the Last of Us 2. I am giving this game a 10, because I truly feel that it deserves it. I am not trying to combat the 0s although a lot of those seems to be more based off the leaks than the actual game. Well let me tell you, for someone that found out about a few of the leaks before the game came out, the game delivered for me, and then some. II had the true pleasure of just beating the Last of Us 2. I am giving this game a 10, because I truly feel that it deserves it. Well let me tell you, for someone that found out about a few of the leaks before the game came out, the game delivered for me, and then some. I won’t lie this game took me longer because it could be emotionally Daunting at times. It was brutal, depressing, complicated. Many times I would say, “Don’t do it, Ellie.” But you understood why, and can I say the ending really helps recapture why. This game is truly what a good sequel should do. Keep us familiar with the world while adding a deeper dive into the characters. Let me talk about my gripe first because it is nit picky: But The gun customization, while I loved all the new things they did with it, the animation took awhile to get through. Don’t get me wrong it was cool to see, but after a few times I was ready to get back to the action. With Ellie we got that, we got see her grow from hopefully being this goofy kid, to a competent adult wishing her father figure trusted her more. Especially with how he lied to her at the end o of the last game. (Which they handle so well in the sequel). This game you truly see what it means to become obsessed with one mission and to see it through until the end. Which by the way I get why she was doing it in the first place, but the last scene at the end of the game made it even more painful. (Well dons Dogs!) Ellie’s gameplay was a blast, having her trusty switchblade with her was always fantastic!

    I also really enjoyed what they did with Abby’s character. They took someone you hate when you first meet her, and then they break her down and you see how she ticks and by the end you see how much she has grown. The last fight *chef’s kiss* also Abby got that dope Boss Battle in the basement of the Hospital. I loved it! All in all the narrative was impressive, and as much of a risk as it was Naughty Dog swung for the fences and hit the ball out of the park. While this game does get so dark and brutal and depressing they give you wonderfully tender moments, Dina and Ellie, Abby and Owen, Ellie and Joel, Abby and Lev (friggin love Lev!) and so many others (special shout out to the ladies man Manny!) they also give you some fantastic flashbacks. The one for Ellie’s birthday brought a tear to my eye. Also the way the guitar was incorporated into the game beautifully done.

    The score sublime, the art perfect, and the new customizables were great! All of the acting was top notch, Ellie still may be my favorite character from the series but Abby, Lev and Dina fought there way into my hawser.

    This game had me hook line and sinker. It was an unexpected but wonderful sequel that after some time to ponder my existence as a human I will have to play again to grab the collectibles.

On one side Joel goes from being a jaded smuggler to a loving father figure and he also goes from being the smuggler to being a slaughter of innocence. The first game sets us up in the second game has to start in that place and live through it.
    After finishing the game and thinking back to the beginning of starting in Jackson and even going to Seattle day one feels like forever ago and it has to. Like no other this game uses narrative and gameplay together to connect the player to the character in this incredible link that is one of the biggest feats of storytelling in recent memory. When Joel died I felt just as Ellie did, when Ellie killed Nora I was visibly shaken like Ellie was, finally when the fight occurred between Abby and Ellie I was exhausted and done with all of it. This was always the mission of the first game to connect the player in the characters in a way that wasn’t possible through any other medium. This game takes everything that the first had in the rule that was set out that was if nothing else write honestly everything has to feel honest there’s no fan service there are no moments that we as the player are given everything and finally satisfied because that would feel wrong.     So, even with all the pros this game is really really bad. It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isnt even the biggest thing about why its bad.
    The reason is: character development.
    If you kill one of the most beloved characters early in the game (Joel) and want to bring in new main playable characters like Abby, you HAVE to bring WAY more backstory in order to make the player feel with her.
    I mean she KILLED Joel!
    How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does that. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10minutes and then her dad is being killed. Thats it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she killed Joel?
    Hell no!
    That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

    Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning.    … Expand

    I love the the music, the graphics, and the story is amazing. Like, really. A game not only about hatred and vengeance, but also forgiveness and reflection. It toys with your emotions but you have to try and see the other side of things, and it makes you feel what it’s really like to live in the world of The Last of Us. Brilliant game.

    The story is indeed sad and depression, but it is a good story.
    Sure this game has it's weak points, but it definitely deserves more honest and fair reviews, not just some hate speech from crying babies.

I even went back to playing the first game again to make my feelings more genuine for the TLOU2 and I ended up being more upset towards this new game. People loved LTOU because of the father/daughter bond that Joel and Ellie had. There were better character development and story that was seamless while in TLOU2 it relies on shock and "surprise". The overall message of the story was entirely predictable and by the end of it, I just felt upset that all of this pain and suffering was because the writer's message was something so obvious. Revenge is bad and it can consume you if you do not do something about it. They killed Joel in such a terrible way just as a catalyst to get this predictable revenge story going. What a complete and utter waste.

    This game also does a lot of manipulation to make you feel for Abby and make Ellie look bad but it doesn't work. There is a scene where you kill Abby's dog as Ellie as if you are supposed to care when just before you were killing DOZENS of dogs prior. You are supposed to feel bad for killing someone when you just brutally slaughtered tons of other people right before. The game contradicts its self constantly and it ruins the immersion. You can see the puppeteer instead of the puppet constantly. I really disliked a lot of the side characters as well like Mel for example. Why is a pregnant woman going to the front? How irresponsible do you have to be? Also, they even changed a lot of the story like how Joel killed the Doctor. They not only changed his skin color but made the operating room look clean. In TLOU1 the doctor has dark skin and the operating room is moldy and gross. Made me realize how shoehorned this story was. Joel and Tommy are also a lot less smart for the sake of moving the plot for Abby by being way too trusting and telling everything about themselves. These guys didn't get this far from being this stupid.

    Let's talk about the good. The game has without a doubt amazing graphics and animations. The music and sound design are tremendous and it does a great job of creating a terrifying atmosphere when going up against the clickers. I loved exploring the map and having conversations about what happened to the unfortunate. Combat was nice as well and I got a kick out of smashing people's head in with Abby. Probably the only thing I enjoyed while playing as her.

    Overall it was a decent game but I can play other games if I want better Graphics or gameplay. I wanted to play TLOU2 for the story and NaughtyDog did not deliver. IMO it was a wasted opportunity to do something better and it could have been handled so much better.    … Expand

    Played it twice now and 100% the game so I didn’t miss anything. The last of us was one of my favourite games of all time. Now the sequel is too. It made me upset. Angry, relieved, scream, confused, uncomfortable. Amazing game
