I really like this game. The Last of Us Part 2 broke my heart in the beginning of the story. Many players may not like the game, because it causes very negative and unpleasant emotions for example hatred, and the desire to kill some characters. But over time, the wounds begin to heal and you begin really like this game for working out the smallest details in the world of game.

Naughty Dog make the revolution in the gaming industry. Again. And it's really heartbreaking to watch rating of this game from other users! It's injustice!
I will still love the first part of game more and more, but deny that The Last of Us Part 2 is a really well-done game is a crime!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this story, it made me have compassion for the enemy, everyone is upset because Joel died, so what? That’s life, people die, people grow up get over it. Everyone should delete the mentality that Ellie is going to act like a child when she is clearly an adult now, and that you should be able to bond with another character (Abby) because the world doesn’t revolve around Ellie and Joel sorry. I really liked the skirmish between the 2 and I was really enjoying the downfall of both characters, this game feels real to me and if you honestly didn’t feel any sympathy for Abby after losing her friends and/or seeing her at the end, then you’re just mad to be mad, get over it everyone gets what they deserve at the end. The visuals were stunning, everything about this game was awesome for me and I am glad I didn’t listen to others to shape my own opinion about this game, I took my time playing and enjoying everything about the game. Upgrading guns was awesome and collecting the cards was my favorite thing to collect in any game. Thank you for such an awesome game I really had fun and I’m looking forward to a DLC maybe for Abby and a multiplayer version! Expand

This game is simply a masterpiece in every aspect of its design, and while the story is controversial I appreciated that Naughty Dog took brave risks to craft a raw, emotional and human story. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to play as Ellie again through terrifying stealth sections and experience this game's breathtaking spectacle.

Hoes mad indeed. There is no inconsistency with the characters like people are claiming, and the story does make sense. Game play is the same as Part 1, but better.

This game is beautiful in its entirety. I’ve heard complaints that the story doesn’t *feel* like a Last of Us title, mostly from people I know haven’t actually played the game, so if you’re basing your decision to play the game solely listening to the negativity then I beg you to reconsider because I have played this game and it feels like The Last of Us to me. I was as emotionally invested in this story as I was for the first game. You can go from hating to loving a character as you progress through the narrative that by the end you want everyone to just live. I’ve heard complaints about the ending as well, and all I have to say on that front is that I cried, and I like to consider that a job well done. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Many of the still negative reviews are based on people who have barely played the game, or barely understood the deeper meanings of the game. Its definitely divisive and not for everyone, but sometimes for the wrong reasons. That said, I'm gonna get right into it. Joel Miller. He lost his daughter Sarah right at the start of the outbreak, and got separated from his brother Tommy. This would be Joel's entire world coming crashing down on him. For 20 years, he dealt in the Black Market, killed a lot of people and infected to survive. Probably done worse. Then he meets Tess. Tess probably would've been able to make Joel feel some degree of normalcy again. Maybe he would've had another kid. But Tess got bit and she passed, shortly after Joel met our favorite snarky and bratty teen, Ellie. They hated each other at first, man. Ellie would never listen to him, and she had such a mouth! It was hilarious at times. Joel got sick and was injured on top of it. Ellie had to go find medicine for him. After a while Joel started to get attached to her like she was his own daughter. Maybe he was finally able to move on from Sarah's death. Now we fast forward, and The Fireflies have realized how they can develop a vaccine (This is already point #1 and 2. A lot of it has to do with Spores, which is in the *air*, like a regular virus or infection.) using Ellie's mutated cordyceps growth. The only catch, is they'd have to kill her to remove it. Joel hears this and he is definitely not having it. This girl just made Joel start to be human again. Slowly getting rid of that hardened survivor exterior. He has a little girl to love again. He won't let anyone take that away from him, and even if it meant only being able to spend more time with her, he doesn't care about keeping the truth from her. Its a horrible, terrible, selfish act of love that anyone normal would find trouble parsing the morality of. This is what The Last of Us and Part II are all about. Not the black, and not the white. The GREY. Joel kills Dr. Jerry Anderson, Abby's father. He didn't have to. He could have knocked him out, maybe shot him in the legs. But he wasn't taking the chance of being chased. Joel even then kills Marlene, essentially Ellie's caretaker/surrogate mother. Joel tells Ellie her immunity had no purpose, that it meant nothing, because there are other immune people. Dozens, he says. This is another lie, of course. I love Joel, but that was all messed up. Fast forward to Joel and Ellie settling down in their new life in Jackson, Wyoming. Tommy and Joel specifically have fought barely any infected the past nearly 5 years, never mind people, sometimes only running into 1 or 2, or not even any at all. Imagine how much more relaxing their life is. Jackson has a welcoming policy when it comes to stragglers/strangers, and allowing them in the city. Thats why Joel saves Abby without a second thought and trusts her. Even going through Joel's house, HIS HOME, you can see how he has changed. He plays guitar on his porch at night, enjoying the peace. He woodcarves. He has a little picture of himself that Ellie drew for him. And its FRAMED! Joel got his life back, man! So before judging Joel's character simply because he "lets his guard down"....think of how his humanity has returned to him...! Joel over these years slowly got rid of the "everyone is an enemy" survivor mentality. This game is NOT a revenge story! Its ALSO a story about love, empathy, forgiveness and redemption. The reason we don't play as Abby first, or see her story first, is to show us a preview of what Ellie could and does become, going down the same path that Abby did. Showing us the cost and what it takes, what you lose in a quest for revenge. Ellie's journey sparked from her love for Joel, and Abby's for her love for her dad. There are so many layers to this story overall (part 1 and part 2 both) that its nearly impossible to address it all. Whether you enjoy this story hinges on whether you can understand Joel's death and Abby and move past protagonist bias, which is why its so important to address it. Abby's side of the story is about how her revenge has affected her, and what she finds to forgive herself and redeem herself, in caring for and protecting Lev and (to a tragic extent) Yara. At the end, Abby carries Lev away...just like Joel carried Ellie away. Ellie sees this and realizes what SHE has also lost. After fighting Abby she remembers her last night with Joel, and how she never got the chance to FORGIVE HIM, and can't forgive *herself*. Ellie might have never been able to forgive Joel. But she was willing to try. Abby might never forgive Ellie for Owen, Mel, and her other friends, but she was willing to try. Sparing her THREE TIMES! There's so much. It might be a bit messy, but I hope this gets the points across. Maybe this was more critical than I expected! Open your mind! Because I don't think any game should get a perfect 10, The Last of Us Part II gets a 9/10 from me. Expand

The ending is also very good. there ate subtle hints throughout the story and when they all come together they reveal a second emotional layer to the game, f. e. in the beginning Joel sings: "if I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself". This accurately depicts the whole story. The gameplay is smooth and has improved so much from the first game, the graphics are also amazing. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the most beautiful and well done games. It's a masterpiece that maybe all the people will comprehend when they grow up. We have the right to not like something, but giving a score of zero to a game it's immature as hell!

And guys, let's accept the inclusion, humanization and deaths. So let me explain the most controversial. Guys, Joel's death was necessary for: (1) Ellie to seek revenge. She would need something very strong for that and something that we can connect, just to be shown that if we are mad, we are wrong too in the end. And ellie realizes this, why can't you? (2) For the moral of the story to say that revenge is bad and does not pay (3) To understand that everything in life has two sides. We hate abby but when we see her side, we can then know her motivation. Maybe at the death moment we are lost but until the game ends, we understand the entire situation. Guys, If you read game of thrones you will die hahaha
I agree that his death scene could be better written because joel is very suspicious, especially with strangers, how come he fell so easily in this trap? I think it should have been written better and they had the capacity for it, because the rest of the game is incredible and well done. But life is like that isn't it? We can't predict everything, so as Joel. But going all over the internet saying that the whole game is bad, is total **** disregard and blindness. The game is perfect, have stunning graphics and the better of the generation. Going back to the story: The game it's not about heroes like an avengers movie, it's about human beings trying to survive and live in a world that is totally different from ours. The game humanizes situations and shows how fragile we are. Can you imagine living in a world like that? In a blink of an eye you can die there. Games like that need immersion people, it is not a game to shoot around enemies and score points, It's a game to stop to absorb the story and think, and consecutively grow and value what you have and what you can lose. Ellie had the opportunity to sorry joel but she can't anymore, and that is a life lesson. If you want abby to die because they killed your favorite character, then you don't have understand neither the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don’t listen to the brigaders. As someone who has actually played and finished the game, I can tell you that in no way is it deserving of the hate and zeroes it is receiving. Though it could not have succeeded without the world/character building of the first game, I thoroughly enjoyed it more. For me, I went in with all the spoilers. I knew Joel would die. I knew I’d play as Abby for 10+ hours. I knew Ellie wouldn’t kill her at the end. I went in ready for this game to be flaming garbage. I went in hating Abby. By the time I finished her first day, I could already feel myself warming up to her. And I really didn’t want to. But that’s the point. That’s the execution that Naught Dog excelled at: Making the player realize that this situation isn’t black and white. Nobody is really a villain. I can’t hate Joel for dooming the world because he did it to protect Ellie. I can’t hate Ellie for killing all of Abby’s friends because she killed Joel. And I can’t hate Abby because she is a reflection of both of them. Like Ellie, she sought revenge after the death of her father. And like Joel, she redeems herself as a person and finds love and healing in a younger counterpart that she learns to care for. As for the ending, I can’t imagine someone playing through this entire game and still wanting to kill Abby. If that’s what you drew from this experience, you missed it by a longshot. I found myself repulsed during both of Abby and Ellie’s fights, wanting to let them both go. I cared for both of the characters, and it wasn’t easy to fight them. This game makes you feel how revenge poisons character. It’s beautiful. And for those who disagree with Ellie’s final decision, I’ll say it again, you missed the point. The point is forgiveness. This game is trying to teach you that forgiveness is so much harder and painful than revenge. This game drives that point home hard. And I loved every second of it. Expand

Critics can say all they want about how amazing the story telling was, but guess what there are more consumers than critics. It just like plurality vs majority vote rules. I honestly hate this game. The story telling is predictable, no character development, and random people added with no background story? I’m really really disappointed about this game. They really messed up a masterpiece of a game to a clown fiesta. How dare you kill our beloved Joel? Who the **** cares about Abby? Why do do you insist on forcing the consumers playing her, you sick twisted game devs? I’m just so mad right now cause the writer of this game is probably a lunatic. The covid-19 probably struck all of the writers and wanted to make a quick buck before their company falls under. The story isn't at the level of the masterpiece the first one was but it's still really really good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off my review for this game I would like to say I thoroughly enjoyed and loved the first game and played it multiple times.

The Last of Us Part 2 has been one of those games I have been waiting for since Naughty Dog first announced it. That was when some spoilers got leaked and people started to hate on the game, I was one of the people who didn't actually look at any spoilers and did my best to avoid anything relating to those spoilers.

Since the game came out the game has had nothing but praise on one side while hate on the other.

I have just completed the game and my god i really enjoyed the game and liked the characters. I was originally going to give the game a 9/10, but I have had time to think about the game, story the gameplay, the mechanics, the character development, the deaths and most importantly the story.

The game as a whole is no where near as bad as what people are making it out to be, especially on the story side of it. Originally i really hated Abby but once i started playing as her I began to like and understand why she did what she did.

People need to remember Joel wasn't a good guy and I really like Joel, but with all the people he killed it was bound to catch up to him at some point.

By the time i got to the end of the game I was at the edge of my chair simply because the two characters I grew to like in this game were facing off and one minute I was hating Ellie, the next I felt sorry for her.

That is the point of the story though, it isn't meant to be the same sort of thing that we are used to where we can predict whats going to happen where the writers do their best to please the fans. Naughty Dog did what they wanted to do and told the story they wanted. We as the audience have to play the game and experience what is being told to us. Due to how it is different to other games it seems that people don't like it.

I do understand that it isn't a game for everyone.

For me though I personally loved it from start to finish.

Now onto some the Positives and Negative.

    Positives
    - The game mechanics are some of the best I have seen in gaming
    - The character development is spot on
    - When playing you feel apart of the world
    - It is quite sad in a good way of course which at me in tears at different moments
    - It was tense
    - Had some good scares
    - The skill system as been improved massively compared to the first
    - The graphics OH MY GOD IT IS EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL
    - The story was tense, beautiful, different and emotional.
    - The voice acting and performances are some of the best I have ever seen in gaming

    Negatives
    - Certain very small sections dragged on longer than needed
    - I came across some glitches, which didn't brake the game but did take me out of the moment for a few seconds.
    - small sections also needed more to it.

    OVERALL
I personally really enjoyed the game, the story and the work Naughty Dog put into this.

My advice for anyone who is thinking of playing this game is to go into it open minded and to play the game Naughty Dog want you to play/experience.

If you are unsure on whether you'll like it my advice is to watch some gameplay, wait for it to go down in price or even borrow it from a friend.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't think I'll like this game at all. I started to understand what was meant to be told in the last hours. I played it twice because I thought I was just on rage of Joel's death and I was sure damn right. It starts when you want to understand the side that you named as a villain. You realize you actually have similar stories on both size. They both lost their friends and loved ones while looking for revenge. However, Abby was done with that when they had the first fight. She just wanted to take the only one left for her and look for Fireflies. But Ellie was not satisfied without she died, so she went to look for her while believing she owned that to Joel. At the last fight it really started to make me uncomfortable even in the first time I played. I didn't wanted to get revenge on Abby anymore while Ellie was choking her to death. I was disgusted to play the last fight because the game really forced me to get revenge as Ellie and I suddenly hoped for Abby to live. I was so impressed that game made me cry for the one that killed Joel.

It was a very brave storyline, so I get why all these people didn't like the game. I'll not even going to talk about the graphics, sounds, animations, details and other stuff. It is one of the best games for that.
But I have to admit, there were some parts that I said "Was this really necessary" or "Why". And I really enjoyed the last part with Joel more than a lot of the game especially when he said "If somehow the lord gave me a second chance at that moment, I would do it all over again".

It was really a great game, again, I get why people are angry and upset, but it was one of the best ways to thrill the player which sure worked on me.

A massive disappointment, a technical masterpiece with few good moments and an awesome boss fight ultimately messed up by terrible decisions and story. Culminating in an unsatisfying ending. They make you play as the villain to make you root for her, but it all falls flat and you just don’t care about her. The villain’s character model is ridiculous and the game makes you fight Ellie as her expecting you to hve fun while doing it. They wanted us to be frustrated by a long game with moments that make you just tear up in agony, good job. Just for disclosure I completed the game yesterday, I never heard about the details of the leaks or had the story spoiled before playing, but I had heard that a lot of people were angry about the plot before jumping into the game. I understand people are angry, but don't agree with review bombing. I want to try be as fair as possible.
    .
    .
This game is something I had been looking forward to for 7 years. The original game is to this day my favourite game ever, having played it 6 times, and the DLC twice.
I didn't want to set myself up for disappointment though. After all, sequels more often than not do not live up to the height of their original. The original was an easy 10/10, and I went into this expecting an 8/10.
The game got off to an okay start. Was unsure of the weird tension between Joel and Ellie, although this makes sense when we find out later on that Ellie had returned to the Hospital and discovered the truth of what happened there. Although, I was a bit confused as to why I was suddenly playing as a stranger only a little bit into the game...
Then there's the scene that a lot of people are angry about... I remember in the original game, never wanting to hop off for the night, I always wanted to keep going, and find out how their story ends. I finished it over 3 days, and always feeling really excited to get back on the PS3 and continue the story/game.
Well after Joel's death scene, I never felt that excitement. I distinctly remember wanting NOT to play. I had to basically force myself to get back onto the PS4 the next time to continue, with a "lets just get through it" demeanour. I still wanted to play through it quickly, but that was just to avoid spoilers, not because I had any strong desire to play.
There comes a scene roughly 1/3 into the game where Abby finds Ellie and Co at the Theatre, and hold Tommy at gunpoint, before then ending on a cliff hanger and taking you on some long-winded flashback through Abby's story.
This was a character I hated. I had no emotional connection with this character, they had brutally murdered my favourite character, and I had absolutely 0 interest in their story and didn't want to play as them.
For the majority of the Abby segment I was bored out of my mind. A first for me in any Naughty Dog game. I had 0 emotional investment in this character, and just wanted to get back to the characters I was emotionally invested in.
Did her scenes make me like her better? Yes. Her attitude towards Lev and Yara, and how her relationship with them grew throughout the story was beautiful. Did it make me like her though? No.
Overall, I didn't have an issue with Joel dying. They live in a **** world, with a dangerous infection and dangerous people. The idea of him retiring is a bit unrealistic. Like many other people it's the way he died that upset me.
The sick and disappointment that sat in my stomach for the rest of the game after seeing a character I had liked for 7 years go down like that, ruined the rest of what could have been a really good game. To then make you play as the character that killed him and try to be forced to like her, and at some point be FORCED to beat up Ellie even though I’m sure that was something literally no one wanted to do, was just such an awful decision and the cherry on top.
To force player to beat up a beloved character was one of the many terrible design choices of the game.
And I think it does come down to perhaps Naughty Dog's underestimation of players emotional investment in this character. I 100% know that if I hadn't played the original, and started out with this one that I would think it was a beautiful game.
As a standalone game it is brilliant. Easily a 9/10. But unfortunately it's not a standalone game, and because of everything they created with the first game, and how they then destroyed that with the second, I can't give it any more than a

I have since played through the game a 2nd time and got the platinum trophy. My opinion is unchanged and only reinforced. This is one of the best game's I have ever played and arguably just as good if not better than the 1st game. While this is a direct sequel, both games stand alone as very different experiences that compliment each other in an incredible way. The Last of Us Part II is an experience like no other and is something that will stick with me for a long time. Bravo to the entire team at Naughty Dog for crafting something so ambitious and groundbreaking.

    Queue those initial thoughts:
The Last of Us Part II is the sequel to my favorite game of all time. My hype for this game was immeasurable and I luckily strayed away from all spoilers and went in with a completely open mind. I'm no game reviewer so i'll keep it fairly short. That being said, this game did not disappoint me in the slightest. I can't even begin to describe this emotional roller coaster of a journey Naughty Dog (@Naughty_Dog) so meticulously crafted. No game, no movie, no type of media has ever made me feel so many different emotions. One example being I have never cried my eyes out while playing a combat sequence before, let alone multiple times. Whether I was angry, confused, heartbroken, happy, laughing, or in shock, this game took me on a wild journey and held me in its grasps to the very end. You can tell there was a lot of love put into every single aspect, the environments, the level design, the little things that many might possibly not even notice. The attention to detail is staggering and the entire team should take a bow. The acting and writing is outstanding and Ashley Johnson (@TheVulcanSalute) puts on one of the best performances I have ever seen in any form of entertainment. The animations and visuals are drop dead gorgeous and the best I have ever seen in a video game. The gameplay is a huge step up from the first game and I enjoyed playing through every combat scenario immensely. The AI (at least on survivor) was incredibly smart and challenging and I felt like it made the experience more rewarding. Everything else aside, this was a brutal and emotional story worth telling and I believe it rightfully earned its existence alongside the first game. Whether you end up loving it like me, or hating it, I believe it is something you need to experience for yourself.

The game was great! It had probably the best graphics and attention to detail I’ve ever seen in a game. Not to mention the gameplay was fun and tense even on lower difficulties. Lastly the story was great and an emotional roller coaster. I however wouldn’t play if you aren’t opened minded

The game play especially was that same feel with a little more challenge to it. The sections do get repetitive and predictable by the time your a good 10 hours in but it's still fun.

Peoples main complaints seem to come from an attachment to the death of Joel, which definitely made me angry at first, but I assume that was the whole point. Maybe they could have done a better job of making Abby likable but truly by the end of her 10 hours I was invested and the clash with Ellie really made me upset that my two characters were now fighting. People seems to also not understand the Ellie story at all, she was a kid that grew up deeply troubled by what Joel did for her and she is wracked with guilt for even being alive. Her getting revenge was her way of making Joel's mistake mean something to herself on top of just being plain revenge. The fact that she couldn't do it at the end was a final release (we hope) of that guilt she carried around for years. And that is exemplified by the final flashback where she was finally ready to start trying to forgive Joel for what he did. If people cant see the catharsis there and not understand why she did what she did its not bad writing, it's bad understanding of human emotions and behaviors. Everything she did made sense, minus some plots hole the story was relatively tight.

The guilt from killing each member did not make much sense however and even if I can justify the pregnant one and the one she tortured I still feel like this part of the story was weakest and made the least amount of sense, shes killed so many people before why freak out now?

Anyways this game did not deserve the user score it received and is a beautiful sequel to a wonderful franchise. If they do another one after it I truly would hope they focus souly on Ellie though as the Abby character doesn't leave a lasting impression and at this point I only want to see Ellies fall from grace or her rise to the top, we have seen her grow up and her traumatized time for an end game.

Tlou Part II will go down as a classic game that people talk about for years to come. You shouldn't talk about a game if you haven't played it. **** leaks....
Thank you Naughty for making this very brave decision. One of the beste Game i've ever played.

I can’t remember the last time I was so drawn in by a story. I couldn’t put it down. Gameplay is excellent. Fair warning, it’s incredibly violent. Some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen on a home console

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
