    I didn't enjoy the story, forcing fans to play a character that they hate and killing a fan favorite character that way eh seems like they don't really care about their fans. Games supposed to be fun with good purpose or a point at least. It felt like i wasted my time and was fighting for nothing. Everything seemed forced.

    I can't believe, that despite all the improvements compared to the first LoU, the story in this one (which is also taking way too long and multiplayer got sacrificed for it) can compromise the game so much, and not just what happens and triggers the plot, but how and when those things happen. Avenging him would’ve been alright boring but alright but it tips you over the edge when you have to play as his killer and don’t even get to avenge him despite killing countless people and not killing his killer.     This game is a different experience. If you just play games to have fun, this is not for you. It's a hard plot. You feel miserable most of the time. But for a game to make you feel that, proves how invested you are. And that's greatness!

    Finished the game now, graphics and lighting make this one of the best looking games I have ever seen. Complex characters,with stellar cinematic and literary storytelling, with breathtaking results.

I loved the first game so much and to ruin such a powerful game with part 2 is a tragedy. I don’t care that people say it’s their game they can make it how they want, NO. It’s for the fans and to kill off Joel with no meaning whatsoever is sickening. Yes he was a bad guy, but who cares we loved the first one for His and Ellie’s relationship. NO ONE CARES about a new character that you wanted to add. This game virtually has no replay value, I don’t ever want to believe this game and story is real. Like it make me want to quit gaming all together because I was looking forward to another impactful emotional story that involved Joel and Ellie. Nothing about this is fun. They think how unique and out of the box they were while making this game, but you destroyed a franchise. By the end of the game, Joel has been tortured to death, Tommy has become crippled and divorced, and Ellie loses 2 fingers and everyone she ever loved. Whatever hope and optimism you had from the first game was ruthlessly trampled. It's a cruel and nihilistic game and not worth your time as a fan.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished the game a few hours ago and taken some time to reflect on everything that happened throughout the story. I understand why most people have a problem with this but I think they are just upset with Joel’s death so early on. However the rest of the game plays like normal and is pretty incredible, I don’t think there were any really touching moments like from the first game but some scenes were very well played out. As for the character design and development it wasn’t the best but was not anywhere near as bad as people are making it out to be. As for the ending I heard from a lot of people it wasn’t very good however I thought the ending was as good as it could be with the story they chose to tell and there is a lot of things to look into in the ending which give the story some actual meaning.
    Is this Naughty Dog’s strongest game? No.
    But it’s no where near as bad as the fans are making it out to be and is definitely worth playing if you keep an open mind.    … Expand

    Gráficos bonitos mas falha o ritmo no jogo. Muitas vezes há que dar voltas pelo cenário até encontrar como avançar. Os combates contra os infectados são repetitivos e fáceis. Diálogos de adolescentes. É difícil que a história goste aos fãs do primeiro jogo. Tem situações muito forçadas. A nota dos médios está manipulada, Sony teve que pagar por esses 10/10.

TLOU 2 вышла за рамки игровой индустрии, она показала действительно жестокий мир со своей вселенной, в которой разработчики не делают поблажек игроку, выставляяВзрослая и тяжёлая в моральном смысле игра. Для окрепших умов и способных хоть немного видеть посыл историй подобного плана. Уже неделю обсуждаю моральные дилемы игры и до сих пор не пришёл к правильному выводу. Его и не будет. TLOU 2 вышла за рамки игровой индустрии, она показала действительно жестокий мир со своей вселенной, в которой разработчики не делают поблажек игроку, выставляя полюбившихся героев бессмертными, а серую мораль понятной и примитивной. Дракман вытащил игрока из зоны комфорта, в которой он привык находиться, где есть справедливость и честность, он ясно дал понять-нет, приятель, у меня здесь взрослая игра и я не собираюсь с тобой цацкаться. Здесь герои - это бывшие злодеи, а злодеи - бывшие герои. Здесь все также люди продолжают воевать друг с другом, несмотря на угрозу заражения, но показано все это на этот раз в более обширных масштабах. С технической точки зрения-это фантастика. Игра в этом плане удивляет на протяжении всего прохождения. Художникам отдельное спасибо, работа проделана адская, в хорошем смысле. У игры есть проблемы в виде очень красивых, но пустых локаций, продвижение кое чего на букву Ф и Л, нескольких странных моментов в сюжете (субъективно), но в целом - это сильный проект, который никак нельзя пропускать. Люди, осудившие в ноль игру-угомонитесь и идите играйте в call of duty, pubg, gears of war и максимум witcher 3. Это ваш уровень, не выше. Без обид и предъяв. Кое что у вас не выросло ещё до таких проектов, как last of us 2.
    9 заслуженных баллов. Пройдя сотню качественных игр, ни одна не вызвала такой сумбур эмоций, как эта. Минус балл за указанные недостатки. По настоящему, повторюсь, взрослая и тяжёлая игра, которую будут обсуждать ещё долгое время.    … Expand

    My scores:

    Gameplay 3/10, added some new features which made the game feel too easy, that challenging factor we had in the first game seems is not one in the LOU2. In addition to this the game is ridiculed with bugs.

    Graphics 7/10 i'd give it more but the face tracking in some scenes is very off.

    Locations 8/10

    Storyline 1/10 Extremely disappointing, instead on focusing on a good sequel to the first game they opted to brush it off and push a SJW agenda which just did not belong in this sequel and a huge stab in the back to the majority of their fanbase. There are various examples of this if you look at Naughty Dog's recent games, in the LOU2 for example we have an extremely female dominated cast. They seem to have some hatred towards men.

    And let's move on the the problem. The story is a complete mess. There's a lot of it that doesn't convey what ND wanted to convey, it does not work at all.
    There's a lot of plot contrivances that ask a monumental amount of suspension of disbelief from the player.
    There's also the fact that the ending is the most nonsensical and ridiculous thing I've ever seen, it has no believability whatsoever and leaves the game as a crushing and unsatisfying experience that I will never want to replay and would trade in immediately if I hadn't got it digitally -_-.

    I could go into more detail about all of this, and probably should, but I really think spoilers should never be part of any kind of review. Let's just say, that when all is said and done, it completely negates any enjoyment all the good parts bring, and I cannot imagine who ever thought this was anything but bad and ham-fisted writing.    … Expand

    Last of Us, dependent on game story. Dont you know that ? and in this game story is garbage. Last of Us about only Joel and Ellie's story. That's why people liked this game so much. I waited this for seven years, You gave me horrible story with a final. WOW! Sorry but unfortunately the story of the game has never been satisfactory and it is full of disappointments. Fix it as soon as possible.

    It's a beautiful, well-written, morally complex video game that's ultimately smarter than most games and a lot of movies coming out these days.

This game managed to kill such an important character, the main character from the first game in a very poorly written way: Joel after the first game where he didn't trust no one decided to go with some random strangers, give his real name and die in a cutscene, so we couldn't even play that moment. After that we got forced to play 10 hours with his killer in orded to empathize with her (for example by putting a scene where Ellie had to kill a dog and after that a scene where Abby pet a dog). There aren't real develpoment because is just a go back and forth and all of this, without considering a lot of things that didn't have sense like how in some point of the game the main group was all injured and still managed to make out of Seattle and retun to Jackson alive or how Lev managed to survive from a punch in the face by a man that probably weight more than 100 kg after had hitten a garage door, or last because otherwise this would be too long putting your best medic who is pregnant in first line in order to get killed. Adding to this the ending where Ellie after she killed so much people, lose Joel, lose 2 fingers decide to spare Abbie, the murder, becuase the game has to show that revenge is bad. The gameplay and graphic are good but in a story telling game for me the most important part is the story, and this story is bad, with no character develpoment, ruining all the good things from the first game and without the multiplay mode too.

I like the final, i think is a good final, ellie was cracked with revenge she lost people she loved like the jj and dina just for revenge and when she managed to execute her revenge she saw that it wasn’t all that, that revenge wasn’t going to take her problems away just caused more problems, so she let abby go
    I found Ellie's relationship with Dina good was not forced it flows well.
    The graphics are beautiful, for me the best graphics of the generation, very big scenarios and very good gameplay. The facial expressions are excellent, but I thought they had many similar faces in the game, little diversity. The enemies in the game are balanced between infected and humans. I loved seeing both sides of the coin, playing with ellie and abby, I thought it was great at first we hate abby for killing joel, but when we play with her we see that she is not bad joel took her father’s life, she took revenge for a reason a great reason. I think this game is not a sealer at any point, it is a game that shows ellie’s sexuality, nothing much and abby is just strong no more. this game is not a sealer.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing through the entire game I can safely say that this is one of the darkest and depressing games I have ever played. Let me break down my thoughts about this game in individual categories as a huge Last Of Us fan.

    Graphics 10/10: I don't think anyone will argue that this game looks like a work of art. One of if not the best looking PS4 games we have ever seen. No complaints here.

    Gameplay 9/10: The game runs and plays exceptionally well. I beat the game on the hardest setting and the last few hours of the game was a real test of ammo conservation and stealth. I loved the little details like each npc you kill in the game shouting their friends name after you kill them. The hand to hand combat also is superb all your punches or slicing and dicing feels extremely organic and real Naughty Dog really built on the first game and delivered in this category as well.

    Story 4/10: Now this is where some controversy may set in. Let me first start off by saying I completely understand what the developers were going for and if you view this game as a tragedy you really can appreciate the twisted and dark nature this game is all about. HOWEVER with that being said this comes as the expense of the original Last Of Us cast that we have all come to know and love. Obviously (SPOILER WARNING HERE ON OUT.)

    I really enjoyed the relationship between Ellie and Dina the beginning of the game plays out really well help build that relationship (THE REASON I DIDN'T LIKE THE STORY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH LGTBQ REPRESENTATION). Of course this all gets demolished by the end of the game but we will get to that later.

    The problems with the game begins only a few hours in when Joel, who at this point in the story is a shell of his former self after he has told Ellie about what really happened in the end of the Last of Us 1. Along with Tommy find Abby, a unknown strange survivor we just met and rescue her. They flea back to Abby and companies hideout because of the massive hoard of infected chasing them. Once inside the hideout Tommy and Joel just willingly give up their full names and location of their hideout to these complete strangers they just met. This moment effectively makes Joel and Tommy look like total idiots and not only goes against their beliefs of not trusting anyone because (they're you know wanted men and such) but ultimately is the reason for Joels downfall as he is killed. Not only this but Joel is killed so violently that you just want to play as Ellie and rip Abbys head off.

    At this point in the story it goes back to Ellie and Dina going around trying to find clues about Abbys location which I really enjoyed! It showed how Ellie and Dina has great chemistry and they complimented one another really well. Than everything goes down the drain after about the halfway point of the game.

    The game completely changes focus from our two protagonists and now shifts solely on Abby yes the same Abby who viciously beat and murdered Joel one of the most loved characters in the franchise. Now had Abby's story happened prior to the events of Joels death this could of worked SO MUCH BETTER. Instead the game asks you to forgive and forget what happened to Joel because Joel killed Abbys father at the hospital (Despite Joel killing hundreds of people prior to this that one person really mattered they try and convince the player) This doesn't work at all because of how out of order the pieces are you already hate Abby and they expect you to take her side over Ellies. There is a clear favorite here in the fans eyes and it's Ellies not Abby. Did anyone actually enjoy beating Ellies face in at the theater I would love to know?

    Finally the ending... oh boy. Ellie so overcome with grief and regret with the tragic loss of Joel during a time in which Ellie was just starting to forgive Joel for lying to her that she risks destroying her family she has made with Dina that she goes out on one final request for vengeance (which the game has been all about up to this point) Both Abby and Ellie have killed several other characters in the game like Jesse, Owen, Mel, Tommy (Yes I know he didn't die but he should be dead) ect. just to get to one another. Ellie leaves Dina and their home finds Abby and Lev (Lev is a great character just sadly introduced with Abby who everyone already hates) Ellie fights Abby one final time and right as she is about to kill her lets her go... Just says you know what screw it not worth it despite losing literally everything she has ever had and I do mean everything.

    This kind of finale satisfies nobody. Abby sales off having lost her father, friends and lover. While Ellie loses the same than credits role. Now one can argue that the whole final act is what they intended and wanted to show how much each character lost with zero gain but IF that is the case than we needed to care about Abbys character which sadly I didn't at all.     I waited to finish before rating but was blown away from the beginning. An extraordinary experience with elevated graphics, combat and encounters. Challenging and intelligent, multilayered narrative with truly terrifying and heartbreaking moments as well as beauty and attention to detail. The soundtrack is also fantastic. Dark and brutal moments may be difficult for some players.

Gameplay-wise not much has happened to Naughty Dog games since 2007 and the original Uncharted, and the story is so unbearingly crap and full of cliches and plot holes. The dev team do everything they can to make Abby into a likeable and relateable character - and they fail so miserably at it. The best thing about the original TLOU was the characters and their journey... Now we got only one of those characters and a **** revenge plot with no satisfying conclusion.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having played The Last of Us to the end and now having played the sequel, I can say that The Last of Us 2 is an absolute masterpiece. I'm fully aware of the amount of people who would disagree tremendously so I'll try my best to explain why I believe it to be far superior to these negative remarks by so many. We are all supposed to love Joel. We are supposed to love Ellie. We are supposed to hate Abby. But as the story unfolds, we get early shocking moments. Joel's death left a bad taste in most peoples mouth. One that would ultimately determine the outcry of such hatred from so many beloved fans.
    What Naughty Dog and the team did here was utter brilliance. They told the story the way THEY wanted. Not the way most wanted. But telling your story, no matter the consequences, is something that so many other games, movies, etc. dont do. For fear of backlash like this. Imagine yourself in each person's shoes here. How would we react in this situation? What path would we take?
    Let me just say...I enjoy Joel's character. I enjoy Ellies character. I originally hated Abbys character. That all changed as I got closer to the end. Watching revenge unfold, passion evolve, relationships questioned, I began to see the story in a different light. It was the perfect way to write this vision. Ellie doesn't need Joel to protect her. She has developed into a strong lead more than capable of pursuing her path alone. Her vengeful mission is understandable. Just as Abbys path is equally understandable. All characters involved are filled with greed, selfishness and a sheer lack of consequence. By the end of this game, I learned to not only love and hate each character at times, but to also understand their drive. To understand that if this were a real life event, I too would probably make the same choices. I think what this team did was genius. They took a risk. They reached a point where it didnt matter if it lived up to the original. They had a story to tell and they were gonna tell it. It doesn't matter if it's what the fans ultimately wanted. Why must everyone be so entitled? Why must they cater to everyone? How boring would it be if every game, movie, book, etc. tried to cater to others visions?! As a storyteller, you reach a point when you say "screw it" and tell the story the way it was imagined regardless of the overall opinion. Sure...they might not make a third. But that's ok. With Joel's tragic death, Ellies lustful urge for revenge and Abbys battle to find her place while also seeking revenge, we are left with an ending that was not only tearful and heartbreaking...but also very beautiful. My hat is off to the team for taking this risk and giving us yet again, another brilliant rollercoaster of emotions as we lived through this world they created.    … Expand

Gotta say i was expecting more, despite what actors and sony said the leaks did leak a lot of the game, the main thing that annoyed me was Melee combat once you get hit your stuck getting hit unless you have a shiv/knife or you can somehow hit the dodge button perfectly cause if you time it wrong you will get hit before you complete the dodge or right after, it annoys me so much that 3 enemy encounters were focused around this and a block button would have served a better purpose since our enemies can block. The story is also just revenge after revenge, ellie comes to try and get revenge on abby after abby came to get revenge on joel, then abby comes to get revenge on ellie but decides not to and then ellie in her PTSD riddled mind decides to go try and get revenge on abby again. Like what the hell the last game was about Joel and ellie bonding in an abandonded world as they try to bring her to the only people that can rid the world of the infected and how joel decides that he cares too much about ellie to sacrifice her, but no this game is all revenge theres no survival and the only bonding done is in the last 5-6 hours of a game that took me 40 hours to complete. They try to make you feel bad for abby but i feel more pain for those that travel with her later on in the game as they are stuck on the run with her due to one of them making some bad decisions. Ellie just straight pissed me off to much with how she treats her friends and those close to her the only good moments i found with her were in playable flashback moments that take place just after the first game and just before the beginging to this one. Another point of annoyance is how hard it is to aim woth any weapon theres so much sway you'd think that the characters were infected like ellie and abby have been suvivng for how long and been training to shoot for how long yet they cant keep a steady arm, and that sex scene is just plain unnecessary sony censors other games for less and yet they allowed this and that just pisses me off. The only great positive the game has is Graphics and detail in animations the game looks beautiful and the detail in some of the animations with no clipping or stutter is amazing its just a shame that its all wasted here.… Expand

En los flashback ellie y Joel se hablan de forma en la que no se hablan en la primera parte. Todo el juego hablan con malas palabras pero no se escuchan maduros, se scuchan como un niño que se quiere hacer el maduro diciendo palabras que no diría en frente de sus mamá. The thing that happens at the end of the prologue didn't bother me and I thought it was a great way to start of the game. However *SPOILERS* playing as Abby for almost 10 hours really brought the game down in my opinion. I understand trying to make her more compelling and I'm glad they tried and I liked the parallel with Joel on the first game but her section has very little to do with Ellies. I was expecting to see my actions as Ellie in a new light as Abby and when, for example I didn't go to the hospital again as Abby I was really confused. It also lasts way to long, 5-6 hours would have been better.

    That being said while it might not reach the greatness of the first I still think about 70 percent of it is a 10/10 story , with the rest being a 6 or something.    … Expand

The game made me love the very character that I despised and began to question and hate the very character I loved. I can honestly say I throughly enjoyed the games conclusion.     What made the original my favourite game is simple: Atmosphere and Story. I loved the gameplay mechanics and pacing of course, but the overall atmosphere with that relationship at the core, that's what elevated it to the top.

    The sequel has none of the magic of the first.

    The atmosphere is just depressing. The way violence is portrayed will make many uncomfortable, but it did not bother me. But it was all just so depressing.

    If the story was the magical ingredient of the first game - it is the undoing of this game.
    It's also depressing. Boring even.
    There is a central character that I did not like at all; Had no empathy for and I would go as far as to say I disliked - intensely.
    To put the cherry on top of this cake of misery, I was then forced to play as this character.

    i'm sure the developer had some profound vision of lessons the player is supposed to draw from the game. What is the point of revenge and violence? - put yourself in the shoes of others or something or other. I don't know.

    What this game taught me is that playing as a character you don't like is no fun - no matter the lessons.

    So to end this - this game was not made for the fans of the original.
    ND has a different audience in mind. It makes me sad.    … Expand

    There are major retcons/reframing of the end of the first game which the writers expect you to just forget about. Terrible pacing and some cringey dialogue. Side characters are nowhere near as interesting as in the first game.

    A main character has a ridiculous character model given the games’ world which ruins immersion. Not to mention terribly misleading, immoral marketing of the game which sells the game as something resembling what fans want, only to pull the rug from under them in the worst way.

    Naughty Dog and Sony should be ashamed of this.    … Expand

What makes great these two games is how they adapt a theme to create their own story. You should judge the game yourself personally and make a decision on whether you like it or not. 3. PlayStation fans and TLoU fans have a lot to do with that user score. 4. The user score will probably get worse. 5. Obviously, some (a lot) major professional reviewers simply rubber stamped a perfect score just because. 6. I know all the leaks and know what happens. I personally do not like the direction of the game at all. 7. People should enjoy the game based on if they like it. Others opinions simply shouldn’t matter.     But the worst aspect is that developer has flushed the story and the characters down the pan. The game is a disgusting and miserable slog with horrific violence and cheap shock value masquerading as 'deep subtext'.

    Don’t listen to people giving this game ridiculously low scores just because they don’t like the story direction. Not every good story that needs to be told has to be some epic cross-country adventure. There’s nothing wrong with a good revenge story where the main characters ambition is retribution such as God of War.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everyone giving this game 0-4 haven’t had many good reasons for hating this game that I’ve read. I’ve seen a lot of people talking about how bad the ending was (just because it wasn’t where most games/films would go, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad ending). Now I do agree that it feels like Ellie went through all that effort and pain almost for nothing by letting Abby live. But I commend ND for doing something kinda of different (It especially contrasts from the first game). By Ellie seeing a vision of Joel it seems as if she realises that she’s almost replicating his actions from the first game by going on this mass revenge spree.
    All in all I believe this ending fits the theme of the back half of this game.

    As for all these plot holes everyone keeps going on about the only real one I was confused about was why Abby never turned after Ellie bit her arm in the theatre. But other than that it was a fairly solid story.
    From everything else I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like people really have actual reasons they hate this game so much, others have said they don’t like the “agenda” they’re trying to push, but in all fairness by complaining that Ellie is gay and there’s a trans character (that isn’t Abby, I mean really everyone’s complaining about it but she’s clearly always been “Abby”, that’s proven in flashbacks. Sorry you’re scared of her because she’s just absolutely ripped). But if you’re complaining about the agenda by doing that you’re just pushing your own agenda of non acceptance. Call me woke or whatever but just because you don’t usually see people like this in other games doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Just wake up and realise that they aren’t the point of the game, they’re just there like they are in the real world.

    Quick one too, and it’s important. JOEL BEING KILLED DOESN’T RUIN/MAKE IT A **** GAME. It’s clearly here as a story driver (hence we wouldn’t have this game, which some people including myself agree that we didn’t really NEED a sequel, but that’s beside the point now). Joel really did kill a lot of people in the first game, he was going to die at some point; and someone seeking revenge on him should never have been out of the question, Abby’s agenda was fairly legit and not overly arguable, Joel really did kill everyone. Now this brings me to what I didn’t enjoy (hence a 9)
    While the story was in my opinion super solid and another incredible story driven journey across post apocalyptic America. It did drag on at times; especially when playing the same three days as abbey straight after playing them as Ellie. Giving Ellie a beating playing as Abby was also incredibly hard to bring myself to do as we’ve painted Ellie as the heroine the entire two games. There were also a few times where I would sit there almost stunned about where the story went. Often taking a moment to comprehend how the story jumped, Although none of this really affected my opinion of the game overall. To me. The Last Of Us part two is an incredibly detailed, immersive and stunning game, with a solid story and an always incredible performance from all the actors. To me it wasn’t quite as masterful as the first game, but still a worthy sequel to what I believe is one of the greatest games ever crafted.    … Expand

    I was a huge fan of the last one and I like to pretend this one doesn’t exist. They ruined everything. I am deeply upset, and can only hope that this game turns out to be a nightmare either Ellie or Joel had which they then wake up from in the third game.

    The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most beautiful game graphically in this generation so far. The depiction of post apocalyptic America is top notch. Acting and sounds is also great. Something all of us expected from the beginning.

    Visuals and Productions: 8/10

    Story:
    The Last of Us Part 2 failed miserably on its story telling. Character's decision sometimes felt forced and out of their usual character making it feel like the story is rushed and lacked with natural development. Most of the new characters felt flat and
    not relateable. The story itself is riddled with plot holes that is sometimes plainly laughable something you do not expect after the success of the first game. It didn't also helped that I was forced to play as a character that I don't sympathize with. The ending made the whole game pointless, I just wish they gave players the choice on this one. If you like the characters of the first game, don't play this one.

    Story: 1/10

    Gameplay:
    The gameplay is very similar with the first game which I think one of the weaker parts of the The Last of Us Remastered (2014). Game stages felt repetitive and sometimes empty. The semi open world felt pointless story wise although I think it may add to the overall experience to some. What I like about this game is the comprehensive game difficulty customization which I hope to see more in future games. Overall gameplay felt boring and repetitive, and could easily be just a 15 to 20-hour game. It also offers nothing new compared to the first game which I didn't like, gameplay wise to begin with.

    Gameplay: 4/10

    Overall, The Last of Us Part 2 failed to lived to its hype. I love how the first game was grounded on realism and has relateable characters and story development, Naughty Dog failed to build on these, tried to make the Part 2 so different to the point that it is unrecognizable and forced.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
