    Story is bad, and the characters are worse. Graphics are beautiful but that's where the good part ends. You cant have a good game without good memorable characters and story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am a casual gamer who plays for fun and I am writing this review based on my own experience with the game. I would ideally give it a 9.5 but that is not an option. Hence the 10.

    I am splitting my review into 3 sections. Gameplay, graphics ad Story. The story section will contain major spoilers.

    1. Gameplay:
    Overall, there were some major improvements to the gameplay compared to the previous game. For a major portion of the previous game, the goal of the player was to find the fireflies. Every time we got closer to the goal, a sick twist of events would push the goal a bit further and we were forced to play on. Only in the final act of the game, there are a bunch of twists and turns that shifts the focus of the player from the main story and throws in some variety. A good example of this is the part where Ellie is kidnapped by the Cannibals.

    This is completely different in part 2. This game is split into smaller missions and each mission has smaller goals along with one final mission goal. This made the gameplay experience more engaging.

    The game also throws in more variety by adding more uniqueness to various enemy types. There are some new infected as well as human enemy types and each of them engages with you differently. If you are someone who likes to take a stealthy approach, you can overhear the conversations of the human enemy types and sometimes they are really interesting. I also felt that the map design of this game encourages stealth more than the previous game. Engaging with the enemies in combat is also great fun as you get to handle a larger set of weapons while you play as the 2 different characters in the game.

    The game has many environmental puzzles you had to solve to open safes and locked doors with loot behind them. The environmental puzzles were not very hard to crack but you would easily miss the looting area if you don't make a conscious effort to look for them. The puzzles you had to solve to open safes were repetitive but fun.

    I did find the guitar portions mildly annoying, but it was connected to the climax beautifully. So I will give it a pass.

    2. Graphics:
    The outdoors were beautiful and breathtaking whereas the indoors were rich and filled to the brim with details and easter eggs. The game lets you play in a multitude of settings like lush grasslands, forests, swamps, burning village, stormy sea, shaky sky bridge etc. to name a few. The top-notch graphics used to render these environments in detail makes the game more engaging and fun. The game sometimes gives you areas to walk around and explore and appreciate the beauty with no threats around. The character animations for combat, restocking, upgrading weapons etc. were also extremely detailed.

    3. Story: (spoiler alert)
    In short, it is a story of 2 people that are thirsty for revenge against each other and how their lives are impacted by it.

    Joel, the fan-favourite protagonist of the previous game is killed brutally within the first hour of gameplay by a character called Abby who is this game’s antagonist. This lets the player take control of Ellie on a 3-day adventure to track and kill Abby. During the course of these 3 days, you come face to face with allies of Abby. As a player, you get to kill these allies one by one in typical videogame fashion.

    Finally, when you come face to face with the antagonist, the game decides to play a cruel joke and makes you play the 3 days again as the antagonist. Although this portion might not succeed in making players like the antagonist, it helps you get a better understanding of how Ellie’s actions of the past 3 days have impacted Abby’s life. The game reserves some of the better action sequences for this portion of the game as a way of bribing the player to complete this part of the game. The cruel joke continues as the player is forced to beat up Ellie to the last inch of her life while playing as Abby.

    Eventually, the player is given back the control of Ellie so that we can get our long-overdue payback. At this point I was itching to get my hands on Abby. The cruel joke continues as the game presents me with the opportunity to get my revenge but at the same time, it manages to convince me to not wanting to do it. Until this point I was eager to beat the S**t out of Abby, but when I was supposed to ‘press square repeatedly’ to get the kill, I could not get myself to do it. Ellie uses the final bit of goodness in her vengeance filled psyche to show mercy to Abby. Abby rides away into the sunset. Yes, the antagonist kind of wins.

    The game then ends with a scene involving Joel that manages to further elevate our love for our favourite protagonist from the first game.

    Verdict:
    Apart from a few plot holes, I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional roller coaster the game took me on. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a work of fiction that emotionally manipulates you. Others might not enjoy this.    … Expand

    Sony should be ashamed of themselves as well as the critics that were bought out to give it a 10/10.
    Complete and utter crap, just because the graphics are updated doesnt mean it makes a good game. just like how having a pile of **** plated in gold doesnt change what it truly is at the end.

Improved graphics but that can’t save this. Plenty of other games with better graphics and story will beat this game with a golf club in the game of the year award to come. Id rate it a 1 over a zero because TLOU 1 was so good That I was still holding this with sentiment. Thanks for wasting years of excitement during this crappy year ND. Trash game… Expand

    Played part 1 several years ago and bought Special Edition for Part 2. Don't understand why everyone think it sucks. I think it is an excellent game by all means.

Você fica puto, feliz, alegre, angustiado (muito), você mesmo sente vingança, você sente que é imortal, sente representatividade (não é uma emoção, mas é um sentimento bom), você se sente amargurado, se sente aliviado, nostálgico. The gameplay loop loses its novelty very fast after you learn to recognize all the animations. The graphics seem to be the only real improvement here. All in all I can't recommend anyone buying this game, it didn't make me want to play it because there is nothing I can do in there my way.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Premetto di non aver giocato a TLOU o a TLOU2 (quindi prendete questa recensione con le pinze), ma avendo visto qualche video sul gioco in questione, volevo dire la mia al riguardo.

    Partiamo dalle grafiche e dal gameplay:
    Le grafiche sono incredibilmente curate, e mostra l'impegno del team grafico di Naughty Dog. Il gore è fatto molto bene, gli ambienti sembrano vivi, gli effetti sono curati, e ben altro ancora.
    Il Gameplay è un miglioramento, dove è possibile fare uccisioni stealth (che però diventano ripetitive), ed oltre agli zombi ci sono anche gli esseri umani come nemici.

    Tuttavia, è qui che finiscono i positivi, e si apre un punto veramente doloroso riguardo ciò che ha fatto TLOU amato: la storia.

    Oddio, si può comprendere che Ellie e Joel non siano dei santi, ma il problema è che la gente è cresciuta con loro, legati ad un'attaccamento emotivo per un frammento di emozione che i due protagonisti man mano mostravano. E vedere un Joel venire ucciso dalle stesse persone che ha salvato, ed Ellie soffrire un PTSD per colpa di ciò, è triste.

    Il gioco poi ci fa mettere nei panni di Abby. Per essere onesti, Abby è un personaggio scritto in maniera povera: il gioco ci forza a dover giocare con lei, e farci pure sentire in colpa per cose che il giocatore ha causato (tipo giocare con un cane che verrà poi ucciso in un punto del gioco, senza possibilità di evitare ciò), o mostrarci come lei fosse la figlia di un dottore della Firefly che è stato ucciso da Joel nel primo capitolo. Ma non è così che funziona. Far piacere un personaggio alla gente in modo forzato rischia solo di farlo odiare di più.
    Oltretutto, altri personaggi introdotti faticano ad avere una personalità o una motivazione, in quanto non sono stati introdotti per bene.

    La cosa più deludente, tuttavia, è il finale. Io non ho problemi se si usa la motivazione della vendetta come parte di trama, ma dev'essere scritta bene. Il finale ha Ellie che risparmia e lascia andare Abby (nonostante Ellie stessa abbia ucciso centinaia di persone per arrivare a lei), e torna alla fattoria dove ha lasciato Dina e Tommy, soltanto per ritrovarla vuota. Ed avendo pure perso due dita tramite un morso di Abby, ha perso persino la canzone di Joe, facendo sì che se ne andasse lasciando la chitarra.
    Tuttavia, il motivo per cui il finale è deludente, è che nonostante la motivazione che la vendetta è sbagliata, Abby se ne esce senza conseguenze, nonostante il fatto che avesse ucciso qualcuno e paralizzato il suo figlio (oltre ad aver cercato di far fuori una ragazza incinta), ed Ellie, che ha cercato di vendicare non solo il fatto che Joel fosse perito in maniera triste, ma anche Tommy che aveva perso l'occhio ed è rimasto in paralisi, è rimasta senza nessuno. In pratica ciò che ci vuole far dire il gioco è "Revenge Bad, Ellie Bad." e "Revenge Good, Abby Good", e ciò è errato.

    In conclusione. Il gioco è decente. Non è un capolavoro, soltanto decente. Grafiche e gameplay sono al meglio dell'originale, ed è un dato di fatto. Ma per la storia, non ho altro da dire, se non un "Perché, Neil Druckmann?"

Oh, I’m sure it will wrap up in the story somehow at the end, but I don’t even want to get there. It’s such a chore to go through these events as this character. Just mid blowingly bad. Such a beautiful looking game. It plays just fine. It gets repetitive probing around and attacking people, but there’s strategy to it to give some interest. I just can’t stand playing as this character. Ellie was kind of a mess, but I liked the dynamic with her and Dina. This section of the game ruins all that. I hate it. I can’t give it a zero, but it’s bad.… Expand

    the history is not that good, but the graphics and gameplay is what gives a 6 to this game, if Inwould have to rate ir in history would be a 3 in my opinion they would have to put way more time on conversations as tlous 1 even the random conversations were really good, gameplay and graphics 8, I guess my hoes were to get a game as good as the first one, but its a alright game

I really felt betrayed and dissapointed when I finished the story. The first half of the game was great but who **** thought that players would like to play as Abby for +10 hours? This is Ellie’s story of revenge, not a gorilla girl romantic story. I trully believe that 2 monkeys could have written a better ending to this **** story. I feel that the Ellie we know would have killed Abby the moment she had the opportunity, we do not need this “revenge is bad” **** I **** hated the fight at the theater because I do not want to play with Joel’s killer agains one of the best characters in the game. Joel should have died in a different way, he really looked like a retard compared to what he was in TLOU, he really never trusted somebody but now its different. Abby should have died at the end because what she did to one of the best characters in PS history. The graphics of this game are excellent but Neil Druckmann and the other creative directors MUST be fired after this trash game. They just literally took a dump on what TLOU had built.… Expand

    A superior game (gameplay-wise) than any other Naughty Dog title, but weighed down by a rage-inducing bore of a narrative with a convoluted ending that resolves nothing. I can't believe I waited for seven years with bated breath for this horrendous story. What a joke.

Creative director Neil Druckmann has trolled loyal fans by delivering the complete opposite of what they wanted. Joel and Ellie might as well not be in this game. It desperately attempts to be clever by forcing you to commit acts of atrocity and then preaches to you about how awful this is... it’s moronic, patronising and simply fails on every level. The female writer that delivered the brilliant original had no hand in this utter garbage and it shows. I will never buy anything remotely connected to Neil Druckmann ever again. I sincerely hope that his career is over. Don’t waste your time or money, Ghost of Tsushima is coming out soon and then CyberPunk is following later on this year. My advice is to save your money for what are much more likely to be quality entertaining titles. Or if you really need an apocalypse fix and haven’t yet played Days Gone, it’s definitely worth a look, it’s the entertaining sequel that this game should of been.… Expand

I love the first game because of the characters and the well told ( yet simple story). Ellie es uno de los mejores personajes escritos en un videojuego al igual que Joel o Arthur morgan, más allá del hecho de que sea lesbiana tiene una vida complicada y llena de dolor y violencia. Al mi parecer en este título se maneja casi a la altura del primero la historia, solo que ya no es lo mismo y ahora es una historia de venganza. Imagine a Mario game where Bowser tries to kidnap the princess, fails, escapes, and then Mario spends the whole game chasing Bowser just so he can teach him a lesson. The Last of Us 2 has pretty much the same feel. What an annoying story, just pretty ridiculous. Feels more like a really violent soap opera than just good vs evil. Like other reviewers have said, it really is mostly about revenge. Call me old-fashioned, but I've always been more a fan of games with an existential threat as the focal point.… Expand

    Very fun gameplay and the graphics are incredible. I loved exploring around Seattle & reading all those notes you found and finding all easter eggs etc etc.

    The game was a lot scarier than the first one too which i really liked. The runners, clickers & stalkers were much more aggressive and harder to defeat.

    I really liked the story. Though i wasn’t enjoying playing as Abby that much. But other than that this game is a masterpiece and definetely a must play for all gamers.    … Expand

    Story:at the beginning I felt furious like Ellie and wanted to kill them all, as I moved forward I wasn't sure I wanted to keep doing that, by the middle I saw my mistake and the ending makes you understand everything and why it happened. Gameplay: The game is a rollercoaster, at moments there's action and stealth, and then to mitigate a few moments of peace. Pretty much same mechanics as the previous one.

Some homophobic / transphobic etc and some who didn’t like that it didn’t have a happy ending where Joel survived. The raw emotion I felt, how uncomfortable I felt for some of the intense fight scenes (namely - Abby / Ellie at the very end ) was incredibly moving. I can’t remember the last time a game made me feel that way. Ellie broke the cycle of revenge, and I personally don’t think I can like Abby as she never felt any regret for any of her actions. Anyway, can’t wait to play again 10/10 the scenery, the extra details, everything about it was beautiful !! I’ve encouraged lots of my friends to go out and buy it! Good job ND!… Expand

Aeverything you can learn about this world you learn only from notes you find in corpses. It is like hello from 2007 year in 2020.
    P.S. I was laughing my ass of when i was fighting with enemies and three pregnant women came to me with shotguns and started fighting with me. The only reason I’m giving this a game a 4 and not a 0 because the gameplay is solid, the graphics are amazing, and the first half of the story was great. I know a lot people did not like what happened to Joel situation but to me he crossed a lot people and he had it coming. Which goes to my second point, the second half of the game forces you to play someone else to sympathize with this person and tries to justify her actions in the beginning of the game. But I didn’t need 10 freaking hours to explain to me what Joel did was wrong. In the end of the first game I knew Joel went too far and I could not side with him whatsoever. It was a waste of mine and everyone else’s time and could’ve been use for another plot. She could’ve grabbed some of our her group and had a war with Ellie’s group, anything would be a lot more interesting than playing her. One last thing, they really try to push this politically correct garbage into the game. The first game dlc did a great job exploring Ellie’s sexuality, friendship, and everything else. The moron who wrote this game was trying way too hard to get a thumbs up from the pc crowd. Do yourself a favor and wait for this game to be on sale… Expand

    I really appreciated the adult storytelling that you don't get very often if at all in video games. The first game was a world of Black and White, good and bad but this game introduced moral grey, particularly when viewing character actions from different perspectives.
    They truly captured the dark apocalyptic world Ellie and Abby live in, as well as the dark choices people justify to themselves because of revenge and hate.

    I see a lot of reviews stating "The game was about revenge yet you get none in the end". I can only say to those people.

    THAT. IS. THE. POINT.

    This is about what hate and revenge brings you; nothing but loss.

    I remember when Days Gone launched and there was a similar **** show with youtubers hating on the game but the game being actually good.

    As I take it, this game tells a story inside a devastated world which I do think it's really nicely told, I enjoyed every moment. I do aknowledge the flaws but this will not make me give this game a score of 1, 2, 3 or 4... Doesn't make any sense. I do believe that at the moment there's a mob mentality ongoing and people's opinions are influenced by this.

    Once again, I'm not saying it's a master piece but it's a solid 9 / 10 without a doubt.. Just so it's understood, the only game (For me) that I think it's a master piece, it's the Witcher 3    … Expand

The only problem we have with this game is false marketing with joel. But developers learned the lesson here.     - acting, voice acting all of that better than most movies
    - sound design amazing
    All of it just beautiful.
    But the story is basically game of thrones season 7/8 maybe a bit better, because nothing can top that clustertruck.

    The last of us part II achieved the feat of surpassing its predecessor. The gameplay evolves, the graphics are the best on the console and with a bold and daring story. Charismatic and captivating characters very well built throughout the plot. There is no perfect game , but this would be one of the closest to him.

    Joel is killed brutally. Someone people spent much of the first game building an attachment with. I believe it’s because Naughty Dog doesn’t think games should have straight white males anymore. You play the second half of the game as his killer. How ND thought this was a good idea eludes me. Abby (the killer) is not a likeable person. People want to play more Ellie instead they have to play as someone they hate. The story is all about revenge being bad, yet Abby gets hers and walks away while Ellie loses everything. The game doesn’t give you the choice to kill Abby as Ellie. Robbing you of what you want to do because god forbid Neil Druckmans leftist masterpiece character Abby dies.    … Expand

Суть всей первой части в этой игре исчезает, концовка была мне вообще не понятной, сразу она при воспоминании Джоэла хотела убить Эбби, а потом решила ни с того ни с чего отпустить, не сделав ей ничего, а Эбби лишила ее пальцев, которые в лесбиянских отношениях нужны, хотя и Дина ее кинула, и по сути та которую мы помним из первой части стала никем, и не угодила никакому типу игроков. На мою оценку никак не влияет ЛГБТ, к нему у меня чувства нейтральные.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
