    The whole plot is a stupid and boring revenge story(unlike the first game)...driven by absurd decisions that do not follow the character arc. Totally not worth my time. It's definitely not up to the standard of THE LAST OF US.

    I still can’t believe that I am even able to write this, to say that I’ve played and beaten The Last Of Us Part II. It was one hell of an emotional ride and even though I don’t feel it captures the same “magic” as the first game, it’s incredible in its own right. I want to start off by talking about the core of TLOU and what my biggest issue was with this game, the narrative. Now I didn’tI still can’t believe that I am even able to write this, to say that I’ve played and beaten The Last Of Us Part II. It was one hell of an emotional ride and even though I don’t feel it captures the same “magic” as the first game, it’s incredible in its own right. I want to start off by talking about the core of TLOU and what my biggest issue was with this game, the narrative. Now I didn’t hate the story in this game, I still really liked it but it’s not what I expected or wanted. I wanted a continuation of Joel and Ellie’s story, I wanted more from those two and that was it. Instead we are delved into a much more ambitious dual character story, and one that isn’t as wholesome, even for the apocalyptic hell this game takes place in. This story is one of revenge, that’s how I’ll leave it to avoid spoilers. Some of the choices made by the writers definitely weren’t traditional and there were parts where I wish they were. They also, I feel, let a character die in a less than fitting way, forgetting what what this character knows and has been through. However, that characters death sets the narrative into place and I won’t lie made me the most emotional I’ve ever been from a video game. Ellie of course is at the helm of this story, along with a new character by the name of Abby. Many new characters are introduced in this game and I definitely grew to love a few, Jessie, Manny, Lev and even Abby. Ellie’s girlfriend in this game, Dina, is one that I didn’t quite enjoy. Their chemistry wasn’t nearly as good or authentic as Ellie and Riley from the first games DLC. Even though I may not have liked all the characters I have to say how well performed every single character is by some of the most talented voice actors in the world, especially Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson. Now gameplay in this game is very similar to the first game just with more mechanics and a completely realistic overhaul to nearly every action in the game. Combat is brutal and realistic, traversal and exploration has been turned up, shooting feels heavy and every scenario can be handled in what feels like dozens of ways. More in the comments-… Expand

El juego en si es un despropósito como se puede acabar de esta manera con Joel , la historia es malísima y el mensaje político derivado de el es nauseabundo. Los lugares de exploración parecen sacados del 1 con una alta mejora gráfica eso si .El gameplay es bueno , como en el 1 mas suave pero la IA es pésima. Muchos momentos aburridos con pretextos lamentable para ir de un punto a a un punto b. En fin no recomiendo el juego a nadie… Expand

    My 8 year old son would come up with more interesting and engaging story/narrative. It's basically the same level as GoT s8 or Star Wars Rise of the Skywalker.. The game that main point's the story, isn't even delivering on that front. Sad.

    This that it has been Spoiled and it turned out that the leaks were true. It made my expectations drop a lot with the game ... I haven't seen anything revolutionary.
    The subject of Ellie as I see many media say that we qualify for that is a lie ... It is simply something that we do not give importance to and we focus on issues of Gameplay and History. That Ellie is what she wants to be.

I would love to know what, if any, changes were made to the story after the leaks came out. We know ND were scrambling to do..something. My guess would be altering the scenes which were deceptively used in the trailers as one area, but do you think they also adjusted parts of the initial story? Would love to know that answer.

    The inconsistencies with how the character of Joel reacted prior to his death has been discussed ad nausea-um and they would be critical errors in story writing, but the endless elements which seem to be 'spite' written as an FU to the fans lingers throughout. How many of these were added after the leaks? That's what I would love to know.

    It's hard to understand the trend in all areas of media and entertainment of 'punishing' fandoms from any business perspective. It seems as companies believe they will somehow convert people to their political agenda over time even if they have to sacrifice a franchise here and there. They are making huge mistakes if this is their thinking.

    No doubt, TLOU2 will initially make bank so we won't see the 'get woke, go broke' effect immediately. The reverberations across the board is where it will be felt and it will be crushing for the gaming industry as it was for the comics industry.

    Essentially, any story driven by agenda over plot stands out like neon green nose in insincerity and ends up doing far more harm to any political cause intended due to the resentment generated.    … Expand

I won't blame ya for liking it because you don't know the story. For those who played the 1st part, we have cared and fell in love with the characters we played. We were invested in them. Like when you worked hard on a project and they are like your children. would you want to tear down your work or let others do it? Most probably not, but naughty dog did. they killed your hard work. they killed their first game. Just like that, they had no love for their work and decide its their kid they can kill it if they want. For those who actually like the game because you say its just a game. I say, ok i will accept that answer. But you probably have no soul or have no gamer soul because apparently you did not invest any feeling towards what you played. This game is a story based game. so if you can't love your story that means you didn't put any soul into your game. Worst storytelling ever, the game mechanic is identical to the 1st which means... no improvements. In the end, this game ruins your believes of wanting to be a good person. Because it leaves you scared for life and there is no redemption for our child who we cared for. She was left lonely... no family to called her own... and leaves so much anger in you that you would swear next time if it was you and for your family future... You will CLEAN UP and ties up loose ends. Or 1 day, that might be what ends up for you and your family :)

    It's rare that I feel strongly enough to leave a review but I genuinely feel that all the comments thus far have been unfair jabs at the progressive nature of the game without regard for the game itself. Absolutely stunning, top of the line graphics paired with an emotional story fueled by revenge makes this a frontrunner for what videogames should be in 2020.

Before I go on with my personal opinion on the game I will say this “It would have been better if I never played TLOU Part II” Where to start….i will simply focus on where the game messed it up for me big time and not talk about how beautiful and how improved the combat mechanics are (they are not).. Naughty Dog simply developed this game for the past 7 years to totally annihilate, wipe out of existence all the empathy, character bounding and LOVE they built on the first game. All that sentiment and intricate relationship that grew in the first game for Ellie and Joel, they just decided that they had to kill it in this game and the worst part: “I think that was their goal”…..It is unthinkable, unimaginable in my precarious mind how Joel, a character that lived in both worlds, a character that since the very first scene on the first game was pray of mistrust when that guard killed his daughter and along the whole first game he is resentful of anyone he does not know, he thought Ellie all she knows in term of the current state of the humankind, not to trust no one NEVER…. And he blindly share all the information to Abby AFTER saving her life and walks right into a cheap ambush. (Oh yeah we will talk about this one later) A COMPLETE STRANGER who just showed up and ended up killing him…and to add insult to injury Naughty dog forces me be that weapon it forces me to be Abby for a good portion of the game…ME the one that has been trying to save them since the get go…. THIS IS HORRIBLE and right at that point in the game I felt I did not want to keep playing anymore. And all this just to be able to fuel the revenge plot that will follow in Ellie’s hands (that until the very end where she had a change of heart)….Abby…. I still don’t understand what was the goal there….relentless evil, pure and many, many times unsubstantiated evil just for the sake of again REVENGE. Not only they showed her as a robot after Joel literally saved her life she brutalize him with a gulf club. And still they try, yeah they try to humanize her by petting dogs and attempting to show she cares about her group, this is one of the worst character developments I have ever seen coming from one of the best teams (if not the best in the world) Abby’s actions are like taken from another universe, they make no sense most of the times and simply are unnecessary. And all this Naughty dog did it by putting you in her shoes, I was forced to harm the characters I loved or the people that they cared about. Time and again I felt like stopping the game and uninstall it, hated every time I had to be Abby not because what she was doing, but because what she was doing didn’t make lots of sense. And for all those justifying Abby’s actions , how am I supposed to feel right at the point where she did what she did I knew nothing of her, I had spent countless hrs. with Joel so no matter what you do after that point redemption is IMPOSSIBLE for Abby. And then when you go through all this suffering destroying what you built in the first game naughty dog DENIES you the ability to kill this despicable character Abby, and Ellie ends up sparing her life “”What the hell ND”””. So not only your whole game have been about REVENGE and senseless brutality but the moment where REVENGE actually makes sense you took it away from me….. I am Sad, I am Mad, I feel horrible Naughty Dog. I felt you had your story to tell and you intentionally carried on with it despite hurting your own work on the first game and most importantly, hurting us gamers as fan of your games and the universe you so graciously created for us. I regret having played the game….. I would like to forget, I would like to stay with that image of Ellie and Joel when they found Jackson.… Expand

Ellie is little washed out of charisma, as all of the characters, transition to second playable is awfull, all the more that is's even more personality flat. Generic , similar sayings don't help at that point. Poor dialogs as written by ND. At first scenario is classic exemple of how not to do it, they"ve been eaten by ambitons maybye. I dont think the is SOOO MUCH LGBT propaganda as people are saying, also the ending coud be worst. And second attempt shows the scenario is pretty smart. The most annoying aspect of gameplay was dumb NPC walking into youre position, little bugs especially in second part, maybye skill advancement tree coul'd be better .
    After that we've got sweetest possible graphics, abandoned buildings are new main character for me. Cool melee violence, finishers, most realistic blood pools ever ;) Couple of amazing sequences, few minibosses and one resident evil like big one which remains in memory. More open areas slots well onto fresher combat aproach. Loading times and technical part of the game also deserves an aplause. Overall gameplay is immersive.
    Soon i'll start NG+ with moore stealth aproach, im curious, does boredom of walking/talking parts will push me off...
    First game was special... this one is just a good game ;)

Incredible visuals and disturbing sights, but also filled with the little feelgood moments that make it all tolerable. The problem is definitely the pacing. Particularly the Abby part, everything is always as dragged out as it can be. With a few good action scenes throughout. The car chase and the Rat King where very fun! But i did not remotely care about Abby and wanted it to end. The gameplay gets really repetitive after the 15 hours. And then your only halfway... The game is good. But it becomes a drag to sit through it all… Expand

    A generic "playable movie" game, praised by everyone because of his hyper-pretentious "subverting" story. But hey at least the ROPE MECHANICHS are stunning and brave. I would give this a 4 but I'll give it a 5 because it looks like they are deleting reviews under 5...

    Story makes no sense, joel just forgots about how he survived for 20 years and act like brainless idiot. Pacing of the plot makes no sense. Plot holes are everywhere and it develop because of pure coincidences. It slaps you in your face with ellie bad other mc is good derivative all the time while it is exactly the opposite.

    For a story driven game this game is complete failure.

    I really enjoyed the game. The gameplay is very entertaining and the AI of the enemys in the highest difficulty setting is nearly perfect. The graphics and different landscapes of the game are just stunning and I love the different locations. At first I wasnt very happy about the story of the game but in the end i started to enjoy it.

    The last of us part 2 is a solid sequel to the beloved Part 1 but lacking the catchy Story that made Part 1 one of the best Games in the previous gen. The last of us part 2 perfects each and every aspect of any game as Graphics,Sound System,Gameplay and Soundtracks, but unfortunately provides us with a story with no definite aim or reason as it shows how bad written it is.

While I believe the game slightly suffers from being a bit too ambitious, (bigger areas to explore, too many notes to read ETC) It's a masterclass in storytelling I've never seen in a game before.     Очень жаль, что в псн нет рефанда.

После нее остается реально негативный осадок. Многие вещи даются морально тяжело и не хочется их делать в игре. Но кто сказал, что художественные произведения должны нести только радость и веселье?

    Это игра о выживании людей в сложных условиях, о людях с детскими травмами и нарушенной психикой. Это игра о живых людях, а не идеальных героях с глянцевых обложек комиксов. Вся мораль повествования заезжена и стара как мир, но что в этом плохого? Можно привести в пример множество других крутых произведений, которые затрагивают одну и ту же тему, но повествование в них всех совершенное иное. Это обычное явление. Самое главное, как именно это подано, и вызывает ли повествование какие либо эмоции.

    После этой игры, на финальных титрах под превосходную гитарную музыку ты сидишь с тяжелыми веками, грустным лицом и чувствуешь внутри полное опустошение. А значит, что цель сценаристов достигнута, ведь тоже самое испытывают и главные герои на протяжении всей своей истории. А благодаря восхитительной лицевой анимации, это с передается на 100%. Ты чувствуешь и видишь все, что твориться в их умах. Все о чем они думают, зачастую буквально читается в их глазах. При том, что я не увидел, будто сценаристы пытаются навязать какую то идею, что вот это хорошо, а вот это плохо. Просто дана история, максимально приближенная к тому, как она строилась бы не в идеально написанном вымышленном мире, а с учетом всех человеческих качеств, и того, что нам всем свойственно.

    Снизил бал лишь за "повестку меньшинств", убрав которую игра и сюжет ничего бы не утратили, просто уже реально поднадоела, так как суется везде и всюду, даже там где это не к месту и не более. Хотя в целом, о ней вспоминаешь только местами. В начале и под конец игры. В остальном, все на высшем уровне в рамках своего жанра. Геймплей, графика, погружение, техническое составляющее, дизайн уровней, анимации. Придраться просто не к чему. Когда кругом все заполонили сплошные онлайн дрочильни и копипаста-песочницы, да игры сервисы, это игра воспринимается просто как шедевр.    … Expand

    Definitely one of the best game I've ever played, especially in terms of gameplay and immersion. Although I don't agree with every story design choice I really enjoyed the whole plot of the game.

    Геймплей хорош, Naughty Dog явно прыгнули выше своей головы, но, учтите, играть надо на двух последних уровнях сложности, чтоб ощутить все его прелести.

    Графическая составляющая как памятник ps4. Да, не без даунгрейда относительно геймплейных трейлеров с е3, но все еще потрясающе.

    Проработка мелочей, как графических, так и сюжетных, на высоком уровне.

    Актеры бесподобны, озвучка бесподобна (на языке оригинала естественно - sony russia, хватит кормить нас дерьмом).

    Сюжет. Краеугольный камень этой игры. Вам не понравится. Но в конце, если у вас есть голова и умение анализировать, если вы прочли хотя бы несколько серьезных произведений в своей жизни, вы смиритесь с ним и поймете его. Восприятие сравнимо с чтением Достоевского - сложно, со скрипом и с постоянным вопросом внутри головы "А должен ли я сопереживать персонажу?". Именно из за этого вам не понравится, ведь вы, очевидно, как и я, привязаны к Джоэлу и Элли еще со времен первой части. Поэтому вторая половина игры ой как не легко вам дастся. И, да, из за багажа первой части вторая половина игры будет казаться сухой. Уверен, Naughty Dog могли бы лучше прописать вторую половину, но тогда бы повествование растянулось еще часов на 10, что было бы перебором для игры не укладывающейся в понятие открытого мира.

    И все же, оно того стоило.

This game is very linnear, and tries to replace good story telling with shock value by killing the main character off after a series of uncharacteristic choices. Further, it continues to punish the remaining main character, and forces you to play as the character who caused all of the previous mentioned bad events. The ending is unsatisfying, and the antagonist gets to get away with it all without having earned any of it. This game exists just to spit on the grave of the previous as a "screw you" to the original writer. One of the main writers stand-ins in the game even spits on Joel's corpse. Go figure. Do not pick this up, the only way to stop this blatant insult to the gaming community is to stop supporting train wrecks suck as this. Not to mention the paid reviews continue to make games journalism a joke. Even now, as ik trying to get this review uploaded, they keep taking down negative reviews, and mine keeps taking a very long time to upload. Playing this game feels like playing a third game in the series after skipping the actual sequel. After finishing this game I was in absolute disbelief. I have no desire for any more from this IP. At least the first game is still good.

    The mediocre:
    Gameplay mechanics are a little janky sometimes and can feel dated and repetitive. Sneaking is implemented nicely, but you will undoubtably become frustrated by the limited situational awareness caused by tight FoV combined with slow head movement. Shooting mechanics are OK, and is of typical Naughty Dog style – alright for those only playing on console, and at times infuriating for those who mostly play on PC.

    The story – there's no denying it. It's sub par. People give it 0/10 because of one single event early in the game, as if they have ownership of the characters, or perhaps a sense of being co-creators since the played the first game. This is called entitlement, and is a real problem in todays society. You have to remember that you are a viewer of another persons creative vision. You where not a part of making the game – you are the audience. That being said; The Last of Us Part 2 has a very strange story. A typical hollywoodesque revenge story with the same old tropes and cliches. All set in a well known nihilistic post apocalypse that seems inevitable for every American writer. Humanity is reduced to a psychopathic lizard brain that can only torture and kill. The Last of Us part 1 managed to tell a fresh story in this standard post apocalyptic setting – a story that resonated emotionally, and managed to hold on to humanity by its last thread. The Last of Us part 2 on the other hand is just a revolving door of hatred and despair. Perhaps it was meant as a study of what would happen if you grew up in such an environment. But it falls through. The main issue with it is that it fails to be believable. It fails to be relatable.

    The bad:
    At the end the game fails to resonate emotionally.
    It will leave you empty. It will not leave you with questions, it will not leave you in awe like the first game. It will not open up discussions around anything. It will not provide deeper meaning or the chance of interpretation. Theres nothing to analyse. The story and character developments come across as a juvenile, with a high schoolers knowledge of psychology and philosophy. The gameplay has too much focus on loot. vacuuming every corner and every shelf spamming triangle whilst being 30cm away from the wall takes away from being able to enjoy the larger world.    … Expand

    Love the story, hate the story; that's your opinion. However, you really couldn't convince me that the story isn't moving. That the graphics aren't beautiful. That the characters aren't 'developed' or that the creators didn't upgrade the mechanics. You can dislike the ending, but in my opinion; it was very very fitting and true to the characters. I'm glad I waited 7 years and I would'veLove the story, hate the story; that's your opinion. However, you really couldn't convince me that the story isn't moving. That the graphics aren't beautiful. I’ve seen a lot of hate because of the playthrough with Abby but it made the game much better. The soundtrack, the mood and the overall ambience of the game was perfect. Definitely a shock in the beginning for me because I never read or look at spoilers.. but I continued with the game regardless. I like how they made you contemplate if Ellie and Joel were the real bad guys for what they did to Abbys Father. It’s a nice change of pace and closing to Elles Story.     Graphics & visuals = excellent
    Gameplay = serviceable but dated & becomes a tedious grind
    Sound and voice acting = Excellent. I thought the actors did really well despite not having very good material to work with. I wish some of the weapons had more punch but for the most part the violence and action was really visceral thanks to great sound.
    Tone and mood= Morbid and dismal (in a cool way consistent with the world and story)with not enough to offset the general misery to make it enjoyable.
    Writing = Awful. Had some good ideas but executed them so poorly that you felt that they bent established characters to fit the story and the new characters were bland, shallow and unlikable (except V in my opinion). I thought Ellie was well written except for a couple of stupid and downright out of character decisions (which no doubt were written ahead of time to allow the story happen).
    Story - terrible with the whole effects of revenge dichotomy ruined by one half of the story apparently totally sweet and getting catharsis after revenge with the other being emotionally tortured, haunted and losing everything despite "doing the right thing" in the end.

    Also it was just plain boring and dull. After the initial shock and anger at the death of Joel, the frequent flashbacks and changes of perspective ruined the flow and pacing with the gameplay becoming a real slog by the mid-point of the game. Some parts were tense and scary with some cool moments but they were few and far between with no great character dynamics like the first game to fill the void of mediocrity

    **SPOILERS**
    They (the Fireflies) took Ellie with the intent to kill her for the possibility of a cure and didn't give her a choice. Imagine that was your Daughter (or surrogate) and ask yourself if you would have not done the same thing in Joel's place? The **** up thing is that if they had taken them aside and asked Ellie if she was willing to make the sacrifice, she probably would have agreed - Joel be damned - and she would have been able to convince him no matter how much he hated it.
    The fact that the story tries to paint Joel as a piece of **** suggests that they think that's how stupid people are that they would not have noticed this GLARING issue. And Abby's dad never did give an answer to what he would do if he was in Joel's position? Abbey trying to justify Ellie's murder for the greater good does NOT appear to convince him. I still had a sliver of hope for the story when I noticed that bit of nuance in the flashback. I hoped that Abby would at least come to terms with the fact that what she did to Joel was **** wrong given that she KNEW Joel's perspective as a Father figure to Ellie who was about to have his child murdered.
    Yeah she NEVER had the high ground and the story makes no attempt to address this at ALL. Instead Ellie is painted as the vengeful piece of crap for wanting retribution for the murder of evil Joel.
    WTF!!!
    Abbey gets to float away into the sunset levitating in a shroud of virtue despite torturing and slaughtering a helpless man who saved her life...Yeah **** Abby. That **** was never called on what she did and the game made no effort at showing any ramifications for her personally, This is why the story failed. If it showed some internal struggle on her part and some fall out with her friends that they were not OK with how things went down then it would have gone a long way to allowing us to empathise with her.
    What kind of **** up family were these writers spawned from? You can tell that this game was written by childless nihilists. No parent would attempt this story without at least exploring this aspect. Yet they still payed lip service to it as if to say that it was not a point worthy of any real attention.
    And then they dare to moralise and preach revenge bad with Ellie while Abby got to revel in hers. Meanwhile Ellie loses EVERYTHING despite "taking the high road".
    Yeah the story was a colossal failure for me.

    I can understand why someone could like this if you are not bothered by Abby if you believe she was righteous and therefore you believe that Joel 'got what was coming'.
    Also you would have to be OK with Ellie deciding not to kill Abby despite already demonstrating that she couldn't live with the image of Abby gleefully smashing Joel's head in after torturing him to death...she did go back for her again from the farm. Why did she cut her down btw? Joel was helpless when he was beaten to death. It makes no logical sense why she wouldn't want to finish her on that cross    … Expand

It's sad to see all the negative review's, I don't know if it's because of lesbians on a revenge or that gamers have been looking at the spoilers from a hacker, I've ignored all that news so I can play it all on my own, and now that it's out for a week I can say this indeed, the brutality, the tense moments, the story, and the characters (rather they've died or are still alive). The entire game is a beautiful sequel non the less, having played both of the games including the dlc from the 1st game I can get why some of the fans are mad. but, that all said and done this is in my part the most gorgeous, tense, and brutal game I've ever played in my live, the gameplay and controls is directly noticeable from the start with a couple of xtra new tricks like dodgin and counter attack, new and dangerous enemies that amplified the scare score quite a bit, some characters you hate at the beginning and probably still do at the end, but the look and sights of the world and everything around it is beautiful to look at, the combat is slick and the movement sometimes a bit stiff but overall perfect to play, I admit that sometimes I got a bug or a glitch, but I don't mind It cause it was at a moment when you were either dead or you were walking around and some of the enemies were buggin a bit, overall I highly recommend this game to those who want to play it on the ps4 (pro)… Expand

    Jogo horrível, história toda bagunçada, destruíram os bons personagens e o tempo todo o jogo força homossexualidade, política e religiao. Apenas o gráfico é bom. Sinceramente, não consigo ver uma part III para essa história tão ruim que fizeram, acabaram com a franquia.

    Incredible. The combat is the best of any game I’ve ever played and of course Naughty Dog comes through once again with an amazing story. Feels like you’re playing a movie

    I don´t get the hate.
    This game is a crazy emotional journey and get you thinking.
    Never played anything like it and probably wont ever again.

Да, NPC очень подтупливают моментами, но не забываем, что это игра, а именно в этой игре, упор лежит на сюжете, который к моему большому сожалению, получился на твёрдую 2. Ну вот реально, пройти настолько долгий путь, убить сотни противников, чтобы в конце сука ПОЩАДИТЬ того, за кем ты бегал всё это время, это просто ТУПЕЕ ТУПОГО. Очень сильно надеюсь, что будет ремейк 2й части игры, где переделают сюжет, а если нет, то пусть хоть сделают для игрока ВЫБОР, убивать или нет, а так, 5 ставлю только из за тупости сюжета.… Expand

    I had high expectations and expected a great game like the first one (which is the best game ever next to Telltale The Walking Dead first season) and instead we got a story a 5 year old wrote.     This game is absolute **** The majority of games are designed to make the player have fun, this game is designed to make you suffer and feel like **** I completed this game and feel like absolute **** right now, I regret ever playing this, the story is **** with Ellie bad, Abby good and an "anti-family" message. Don't buy or play this.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.
