Instead the game keeps pushing towards a direction full of depression and makes it sound like there nothing i can really do about it. What's even worse, trying your hardest to make me hate a well established character by forcing me to kill some dogs and not doing otherwise with the other character do, it doesn't make me switch sides. Lastly, I appreciate the game developers and designers who put their heart and soul in this game, but you had to tolerate this massive **** of a story. Expand

This game has bad physics, bad graphics, and bad history, also it's not fun... It's boring at the start, the AI is stupid... Garbage. I can't believe what they did... It's like destroying your legacy on purpose.

When you can get past your own expectations, look past the things you hold onto from the last game and accept the fact that this is anew game not the old one - honestly, this game goes beyond all expectations. The details in this game is beyond belief. The story telling could have been a little better but nothing worth removing a point for. The set pieces, the texturing, the animations, the lighting, the audio, the physics and literally everything in this game is better than probably any other game I have played this generation. I wish more games were like this. Oh and yes some people die, there are lesbians in it and some other things things that may not be culturally or morally correct according to some. get over it. its a game. its a piece of art. I loved it :-) Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last Of Us was a masterpiece. Part II is just the game that I didn't like at first. Here's why: as a huge fan of Joel and Ellie I couldn't play as Abby, or even fight Ellie. She is a good character, but I think it was not enough to just show that zebra scene. Show us how she loved her father. 10-15 hours playing her line was an absolute nightmare. And that fight... Every time she punched Ellie I was like "ND please don't do it. Don't do it with me". At first, the ending was disappointed, but after replaying it I understood everything ND was trying to show. This is not a bad game. This is just the game people don't like. It's depressing, sad, but it's good. I just love Ellie so much that I can't imagine her being only by herself. It's sooo depressing for me.

P.S. remember when Sam asked Ellie what were she scared of at part 1? "Being by myself...I'm afraid of ending up alone". Think about the ending of part 2 after that.

For all those who played it and gave 2/10 or smt - give it a chance. Rethink about the whole game and things ND was trying to show.

Joel deserved better.

The whole game hinges on the player disliking Ellie's actions (which is achieved by making the player do bad things) and liking Abby (who is a sadistic murderer and draws actual pleasure from killing people). This does not work.

A fantastic game about the cycles of violence and how we attempt to free ourselves from resent and hate. Deeply emotional, tough to play in moments.

Something to note is the unique way the game makes you question who exactly you want to be rooting for, between Abby, Ellie, or even Joel. Indeed, in my experience, I questioned how much of his actions were truly justifiable in the first game, how it affected the characters in this game, and if by the end of it if I truly had much empathy left for him.
Even Abby, whom commits that shocking scene early on in the game, turned out to be a like-able, enjoyable character full of complex emotions and intriguing motivations.
I have to say that I eventually came to despise Ellie just a little bit, which was no small feat on the developer's side.
This is a game that is occasionally hard to swallow because of the situations it puts you in, wherein you feel positively unwilling to continue on with your acts, which is partially why I suspect so many people have negative feelings towards it. I say that if a game could actively make me root for someone I thought I wanted to kill off early on, it has truly achieved something special.
There is this idea that a piece of media has to be comfortable to be a masterpiece, but I think this game has absolutely shattered that concept, becoming a true example of video game art.

It's a game I don't think I could come back to for maybe a year or more, because it feels so finished and heavy, but I do suspect that I'll be eating my words in a week or two.

    Minus points:
    - Game play similar to part one which was 7 years a head and was done for a previous generation. No improvement - Characters are not likeable. Playing with a character who I hate for more than 12 hours was the worst. I lost my interest while playing with her
    - The story itself comparing to part one..story based on revenge is the easiest way to make a game.
-The ending was like I spend 26 hours on nothing. It was like if the character woke up at the end and it was a dream.
    - The Agenda: tlou2 is not the first game which put a specific agenda, but spending the hole game just to brainwashing and accepting this agenda was one of the worst things in Gaming.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you come into this game with the right mindset, it might shake you to your core. This game has a perfectly told story that should make you think. The parallels that are drawn between Abby and Ellie, and their core group of friends have been carefully written. These girls draw from the same moral compass, but they've been on opposite sides of a situation that puts them in a mortal struggle against one another.

Sure, Abby kills Joel, who is a fan favorite. You are forced to understand this game is not called "Ellie and Joel's adventures part 2"...its "the last of us" (the last of humanity)

I agree with many on the web that there are many "agenda topics that are shoved in our faces," again, this world is supposed to parallel real life, with the trauma of child abuse, lack of decent males to choose from, it's safe to say that it isn't a stretch of the imagination Ellie would definitely be a lesbian.

This story tangles with topics of broken trust, forgiveness, revenge, cult-like beliefs and behavior, acceptance of other people's actions and their right to fight for their own beliefs, the realization that those in your community may not give two **** about you, and the need to think for yourself.

I'm rambling. No ellie does not get her revenge, she accepts that Abby was doing what she had to do after her father was killed, we find out near the end that ellie wished she had been used to find a cure, she could have "had meaning" she had to forgive Joel for taking that away, just as she must forgive Abby for taking Joel away.
This game draws parallels to modern society, where everyone "draws lines in the sand" over everything and the hate and rage that is freely shown to anyone that doesn't align with you, this game should hopefully make us all think about how we treat others. On the flip side of that coin, this game is JOYOUSLY BRUTAL. No matter which character you play as, you become a murderous PSYCO who's bloodlust can never be satisfied, I went from area to area gleefully and brutally killing every one and every thing. I found myself using leg shots and arm shots to maim my human rivals, rather than insta kill head shots. I smiled as they screamed in aggony and their comrades freaked out just before I cut them down in brutal animation after brutal animation. I loved the adrenaline dumps as I got the crap scared out of me by the infected time and time again, and the dread of knowing that they COULD BE ANYWHERE. I LAUGHED AND SMILED every time I died, because it was all gleefully gory. The art work here is beautiful, the world feels real, the progression of the infected areas are horrific. this game is an absolute must play. Dont listen to everything you read on the internet.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the game last night after 25 or so hours , my conclusion is that the world of the last of us created in this game is second to none, the graphics and visuals are most likely the best we will see in this console generation and the developers should at least pride themselves for knowing that, on their side, they created a game that improves on part one in every single way.... but then there’s the story. I knew about some of the leaks coming into the game, but I was determined to beleive that a full games worth of context would let me gauge my own opinion and hope it would be a positive one... but I’m sad to say that I beleive our beloved characters were sacrificed, to enforce the themes of hate and revenge and how it ultimately will lead to your own demise, forcing the characters to make severely uncharacteristic throughout, so it can find it’s way to force this message down your throat. I feel like their were elements of the story, mostly the flashbacks, that were genuinely beautiful to watch, so I can’t help but think that they had the ingredients to make a serviceable part two, but instead chose to further clamp down on its heavy message, sacrificing characters logic from the first game and force you to watch all of your favourite characters steadily decline to the point where there is nothing left, and by the games credits, I felt numb knowing that Ellie ultimately leaves with nothing... even her memory of Joel and the legacy she could have carries on, while also knowing that the antagonist gets to sail away with a renewed sense of hope and purpose in finding her community again. In a way I feel attacked for loving these characters, and it’s like I’m being punished for it. In conclusion, if your favourite part about this franchise is Joel and Ellie, then although this game is incredibly beautiful with a moody, second to none atmosphere.... you will end up with your heart broken knowing where their Stories end up ... and mislead by the fact that you play as the antagonist for literally half the game. I think I’m going to take the good parts of this game and theorise my own ending that the characters actually deserve to have. Expand

The game is dark and horrifying, echoing at times the scariest part of gaming, yet mixes this with a rich, vibrant world, that pushes video games forward. Everything from Part 1 has been pushed further- combat, environment, graphics. The narrative explodes in a well placed dense way as Ellie traverses America seeking revenge after a traumatic event. Exploring the other side of the story so to speak (avoiding spoilers) kept me guessing at every step of the way and truly had me evoking empathy in places and people I did not expect. This cultivates in a gloriously poignant finish that left me smothered in emotion, leaving me with a similar feeling after the credits rolled on part 1. The amount of Uncharted-esque set pieces in the game are well placed and thrilling. The themes of vengeance, grief, love and loss run rampant in this game but are beautifully threaded together in ways that kept me guessing, hoping, gripping onto characters. This is not for the faint of heart and I dare say is not for everybody as it plays with players expectations. This at times may frustrate what you've come to know from Part 1 of the game, but is explained in ways that only enrich the first game more, allowing me to find peace. Upon finishing the game the credits scrolled allowing me the time to breathe, take in what I'd just seen over the course of my 27 hour journey and ultimately reflect on what was an experience I won't forget.

Naughty dog writes the story while watching GoT TV series. Starts good and then plunge into the abyss as soon as you started enjoying the game. Killing off previous main character right away after the introduction is a shame. There are too many plot holes in the story. Why the infected started to swarm Jackson area. How come Abby timing is so perfect that she met Joel. Jesse survive travelling alone from Jackson to find Ellie and Dina just to get shot by Abby because he rush head first. Ellie could've prevent the dramatic chase of Nora by clearing her surrounding, I've been watching Nora suspicious hand but how come Ellie did not notice it? She sneak into the hospital alone, This character is supposed to be super vigilant. She did not have to Kill Owen and Mel, by making distance from them and separating them to write Abby location but no, we need dramatic death and many more just so naughty dog can show us some brutal deaths and show that our main and loved character is a bad guy. No amount of Abby backstory can justify what naughty dog did to Joel.

There were times I wanted to put the controller down and never pick it up, but I couldn't do that to myself. I think that people have given this game a bad rap because the story does things they don't like. If a story only does good things to characters you love then you can NEVER have any good growth or conflict. If someone plays through this whole story and doesn't like it. That's fine, it's not for everyone and people are entitled to their own opinion. I think many of these negative reviews aren't by people who actually played it all the way through. There is no way this game deserves less than a 5/10. The graphics and gameplay alone are a 10/10.

The gameplay itself is also very simple (hide and shoot), but never gets dull, and at times will have your palms sweating profusely with fear. My roommates pretty much watched me play the entire game, and there were parts where all 5 of us were anxiously screaming while i was running for my life. The narrative is excellent. Sure, some things didn't happen the way I would have wanted them to, but for me that doesn't take away the quality of the story being told. The characters are fleshed out more so than a lot of our favorite movies and TV shows, and their decisions are justified through their past experiences and reactions to said experiences. The game changes the way you look at certain characters, both in good ways and in bad ways. I was in awe at my own emotional development towards them, both gaining and losing trust as the game went on. No other game has done that for me, and I tip my cap to Naughty Dog for such an achievement.
And lastly, the soundtrack is amazing. No surprise there.
I could go on and on, but I feel like a lot of it is just repeating what the other people who enjoyed Part II are saying. I will never understand the hate that this game got, but everyone is entitled to feel how they do.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WTF did I just play? So if this game was a standalone game and were not a sequel to TLOU1 than it would be a pretty decent game but oh boy if you compare part 1 to part 2 there are dimensions between them. How could someone approve this kind of story writing? Almost all characters act out of their character what we learnt and seen throughout the first game and then they gave us new characters with almost no personalities and killed them off pretty fast and everyone just forgot about them like they never existed. I could go one and on and on but that would take too much time. So in conclusion:

Gameplay: 4/10 (it's almost exactly the same like the first one)
    Music: 9/10
    Voice acting: 9/10
Story: 2/10 (this is generous because of the flashbacks between Joel and Ellie)
    The game: 2/10

If you loved the first game don't bother to buy the sequel you'll be disappointed how poorly they write and treated the characters we fell in love with through the first game. If you support this game it's like you would spit on joels corpse.

The death of Joel is too early and overwhelming. I tried to swallow playing with that **** but it seems that the developers just want to force propaganda on the players as the games focuses too much on sexual content. I don’t even care about the ending anymore. The graphics is great. 9/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is flawed. But so is everything else in this world.

Before I will explain why I enjoyed this game, if you yourself didn't or would like to understand the hatred this game receives, there is something at the end of my review for you. (Also this is my first written review for anything so far. I hope you'll understand my point of view tho)

The dialogs and cut scenes are beautifully crafted and the mo-cap acting is phenomenal. The big strength of the game is the first half in my opinion. Unfortunately I couldn't fully connect with Abby and her agenda in the second half of the game, but there are some key moments in this game that just make it beautiful. The story itself is very complex in its telling but the player never loses the thread. The gameplay itself is visceral with improved AI behavior and engaging combat encounters.

I think the reason this game is either loved or hated is because this games makes you FEEL so much while playing it and leaves you rather empty at the end. Most of the time you don't "enjoy" the game, because it gives you the bitter taste of hatred the characters feel for each other (but in a good way, if that makes sense?). But there is a very strong contrast between love and hate in this game and this duality is beautiful in my opinion.

In the end, wehter you liked or disliked the games, I think we all can an agree that the game made us feel something and moved us (in what sense is up to you).

This is a story based game. Therefore if the story fails you have to minus more points even though the graphics and game play is exceptional. The story fails, Yes 3/10 seems brutal but if you played Sekiro and the boss's and combat suck you would take extra points off even though the world and graphics are really cool. The Last of Us - Part II is a dark masterpiece. Thank you for this experience Neil Druckmann. Because you're the hero games deserve, but not the one they needs right now. So they're hunting you. To be clear, this isn't a fun game. It's not an enjoyable game, it's an emmersive dystopian experience that leaves you with a feeling of sadness. But for all the right reasons.

It feels real, and the characters choices as well as deaths aren't overly staged. They feel real, it's feels like how events sometimes turn out in real life.
For a long time, games have been overdramatized events like deaths to be grandiose and epic. Often neglecting poor timing and bad luck.

The reason for my 9/10 comes down to the grind. In the later half of the game, getting to major events felt drawn out. Too many enemies and too much tracking down characters. It bothered me for a few hours of the game and broke the flow a bit.
Other than that, I can honestly say it's the game with the best thought out storyline I have ever played.

Do yourself a favor, and allow yourself to be immersed. Take your time going through the world. Read the backstory and leftover stories from in game characters before you move on. It adds to the realism and believability of the world.

The new characters were not well developed and frankly I felt apathetic throughout. The Ellie and Dina storyline had potential to be memorable but they decided to make you play the game as another character and failed to accomplish anything any reasonable person didn't already understand about Abby.

The gameplay is painfully and frustratingly repetitive and meaningless. This game did not need to be as long as it is.

The game looked and sounded great. But it meant nothing because it was a waste of time playing. Like having a beautiful high performance car that doesn't run. I could go on to rip this game apart a lot more but I don't want to waste any more time with this game. The saving grace is that I bought a physical copy so I will be returning it.

First, to be fair I love this game, part one It was like a masterpiece in all respects He did something new that I had never seen before I lived with the characters and lived with the terrifying world All enemies are humans or walkers unbelievable For me, it's the best game I've played in my entire life I got excited for the second part right away with the end of the first part I waited for many years to follow the news until the second part was officially announced I was excited to see this story complement ,

    finally after 7 years waited
When I played the game in the first chapter, I could not believe what I saw Something amazing is the evolution that happened in the graphics Sounds and directing Reality ,
I got so excited to move on To discover and see this amazing world And know what happened in the story , I was actually very disappointed I don’t know why the director wants to hate fans of the game ,
He ended the life of a main character in the game Unacceptably He was killed by someone who saved her life ! Just very easy without any introductions , The director was not satisfied with that
He tried to make us love a killer character (Abby) He has made her a bad story I played in it more than the main game character (Ellie) I just wanted this to end I've got bored

He wanted to make (Abby) superhero And struggling With a very weak and very boring story , Rather, a more terrible act than that in one of the chapters made me control a (Abby) To kill a (Ellie) !

I have reached some point in play I want to know what the end I want to take revenge for (Joel)
In the end Nothing happened Just each one went his way

(Abby) She survived what she did and make him superhero struggling ,
(Ellie) Just forgot (Joel) what he did to her I also thought this was clear when I caught the guitar to play But she could not Because Abby cut her fingers Just put the guitar and the game is over !

To be fair My rating is (4) Only for design and gameplay Also great soundtrack In general everything was a piece of art
But the story is very bad Even worse than that .

However, I cannot get over nor will I get over how BAD the storyline is.

I loved these characters and Last Of Us 1 is my favorite game of all time and I am OK with Joel dying in part 2, but the death was NOT earned at all. There is no way possible Joel's or Tommy's character would have given up information like that to COMPLETE strangers they just met nor would a character like Abby just flip out like that after being saved from Joel. Just bad all around writing from a company that is known for great writing.

This was not the game we wanted which is fine, but for god sakes it could have had at least interesting writing. Part 2 LACKS on every level the human aspect which made part 1 so good.

The whole game feels forced, not sure what they were thinking when they decided to release this game but it sucks. It feels like Naughty Dog just said F**k you to their entire fanbase.

Also, how this game was marketed was misleading as well.

I am done with the Last of Us and not looking forward to the HBO show and I am done with Naughty Dog games in general.

I avoided the leaks and came into the game knowing nothing. After finishing it, I can't help but be disappointed. It seems Naughty Dog forgot what made the first game special. The quirky bits, interesting side characters and interesting story are not very present in this game. I was extremely disappointed to see that Joel's demise came because he trusted a stranger. Especially after being so cautious in the first game. But it had to happen considering this is a revenge story. So that out of the way, I am beyond perplexed as to why I had to play as Abby for half the game. It seems as if they tried to make Abby seem better than Ellie by trying to give her better parts, playing with dogs and giving more character development. All in all, I'm beyond disappointed and hope Naughty Dog gets back on track with their next game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I created an account just to write this review. I’m a big fan of the original and other naughty dog games. Since the release date I’ve followed a lot of the discussion with this game and I decided to play the game myself before I rushed with any judgement. The best that I can say is that the gameplay, graphics, acting, and soundtrack are at the very least an 8/10 but the writing in this just so bad. It’s disappointing to say the least. In my opinion, the main reason why The Last of Us is considered one of the greatest games of all time is cause of its story. Cause of the bond between Joel and Ellie. While it was certainly an awesome game just to play and look at, the beautiful yet tragic story was what set it apart from other games at the time. And this sequel diminishes all of what made the original great. Here are my issues with just the story/writing. SPOILERS HERE: I understand, from a narrative standpoint, the decision to kill Joel. While it was not the only approach they could have taken, it could have made for a great storyline if done correctly. Maybe have him and Ellie go on a few more adventures and bond more, then Ellie somehow learns the truth, they split, then Joel dies saving her, then she forgives him. Anything really. Instead Joel is killed in the opening act by Abby (who I’m sure we all know by now) with a golf club. He went out in such a disdainful way that completely disregards all of the attachment we have made towards him and by extension Ellie. By some random character that we saw in one trailer. It all just felt so forced to me. Like the writers were more worried about having an edgy story rather than a GOOD story. It seems like they sacrificed what made the first game great in order to tell a message. SPOILERS END

I could go on but there’s honestly too much to write. To anybody that cares about the previous games story, there’s a good chance you won’t be happy with this one. While gameplay wise it is everything you want in a sequel, the horrendous story is just too bad in my opinion. 4/10

I waited so long for it and what we got was less of a sequel to a game we all loved but more of a spinoff where we play as new characters we are supposed to sympathize with but we cannot more than hate. The ending left me with such high depression that makes me unable to touch that game again. There is way more to it that makes it so frustrating but i think it has been said dozens of times enough in all the other reviews on this platform here or others. Only thing left to say for me is that hopefully the studio will abandon some of the paths they lately have chosen and look back to the times where they created fun games to play i used to love so much. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I actually find it annoying that this game was bombed with negative reviews within hours of its release. As someone who has played the entire game I can confidently say that it is amazing, I do not believe it is better than the first one however it doesn't come too far off. The fact that people are giving the entire game 0 out of 10 reviews is a shame before even playing it because they're pressed about the death of Joel. Regardless I never thought of that to be a problem when it came to gameplay or visuals, people are saying the entire game is trash due to the fact that they're butthurt about one thing which truly is unfair to people who wanted to play the game as they get a misconstrued idea of what the game actually is. I had no problem with any of the gameplay, in fact I believe the gameplay aspect was better than the first. The biggest criticism of the game is the storyline, I agree it is worse than the first game but as a whole it really isn't even a quarter as bad as people make it out to be. The only thing I didn't like about it was the ending sequence between Ellie and Abby, I understand peoples frustration how she didn't even end up getting killed because trust me, I was just as annoyed. However, people don't appreciate the cutscenes we got between Ellie and Joel which to me provided more meaning to their relationship and ended the game in almost a perfect manner. I didn't care who I controlled, as long as I got a good game and I certainly did. Though as the player we are tasked with the impossible challenge to feel sympathetic toward Abby, we at least are provided with an explanation to her motives and know what her revenge story is as the game isn't completely about Ellie, and the gameplay we are given whilst controlling Abby is some of the best in the game (such as the hotel and hospital sequences). If you are a salty 14 year old kid who can't deal with the fact that the main character isn't playable in this game, you need to grow up, Naughty Dog took a bold move and still made one of the best games to play without him. Its not like we saw nothing of Joel the whole way through, in fact the cutscenes we got were probably more meaningful than any gameplay we could have had with Joel, so I advise people to actually play the game - yes the story isn't as good but the game is incredible Expand

The gameplay is good, but the story is terrible. How could Joyle be guilty and do not give a damn about how the Cicadas acted in the first part, they were terrible and simply deceived the characters, and Ellie, without even warning, immediately took to make her a vaccine. Abby is a disgusting character, it is impossible for him to invent, she also deceives and is just a very bad person. The gameplay is good, but the story is terrible. An incredibly nuanced, detailed narrative that dares to go in a direction few ever have when it comes to gaming. The characters are fleshed out and interesting, the world is stunning, rife with detail and rewards exploration and the gameplay is solid and refined. The combat can become a little repetitive towards the end but the varied locations and enemy types do keep it interesting. Good gameplay(not perfect) and good design. But none of them matter without a good story. This is one of the worst stories I have ever seen.

NO other game can get you feeling like this series knows. Required headphones because the PlayStation noise makes it sort of like the look of a NASA experimental shuttle
BEST GAME IN THIS GENERATOIN FOR SURE.

This game is getting alot of undeserved critic. Alot of comments from angry Trolls, alot of the reviews are written so early that there is no chanse they have completed the game. I have played for 10 hours, the gameplay is fantastic, graphic are amazing. This is easy one of my top 3 games on PS4.

Dont get fooled by many of these fake reviews, try the game atleast!

But if you like to be challenged in the way you think and are not a afraid to look at characters the way they really are and take them of the pedestal we put them on for 7 years, you will love it.
I don`t think the game is perfect, no game is. For me it could have done with a bit condensing (5 hours less would have been enough) and there are way to many collectibles for me.

7 Years for the making and the result is non other that a beautiful looking game with a story of a 13 year old fanfiction with continuity issues.

    +Outstanding graphics
    +Beautiful music
+Ellie character development is the only one that makes sense...*
    +Gunplay is an upgrade

-Melee combat is a total downgrade.
-The Clickers are jokes, the Runners on the other hand became more dangerous.
-Joel should have died, but not in this retarded way.
-The Druckmann self-insert is a joke.
    -Unlikable characters.
-*...until the end of the game
-The end is the worst nonsensical **** i ever see in my entire gaming experience

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really didn't want it to come to this but here we are. Naughty Dog betrayed everything the main characters of the first game ever stood for with how they handled the story for this game. First lets talk about Joel. He never once behaved in any way in the first game that would lead us to believe he would ever be stupid enough to give his name to complete strangers! especially after the ending of the first game which effectively makes him a wanted man! Then the way they rub his death in your face only to immediately force you to play as his killer. Abby is not a likable or relatable character. Ever vile violent act she commits she gets more and more pleasure from while Ellie is genuinely disgusted with some of the thing's she's forced to do. I don't situationally forced I mean narratively forced. So much of the writing in this games appears to be done deliberately for maximum shock value and nothing else. Joels death was incredibly contrived and obvious in it's intent and none of the stories attempts to make Abby in any way likeable succeeded she feels worse and worse to play as time goes on. Some of the decisions characters make defy all logic and reason and simply serve to further the story at the cost of virtually all players agency. I'm not going to go over the graphics, VO work or the music because I knew all of those would be amazing and they where. The gameplay hasn't evolved much in seven years of development which is a shame but I was fine with the gameplay in the first game and I'm fine with it here. The reasons people bought this game was the story and the story is incredibly disappointing in every way. I'm going to erase this game from my memory and happily live with the self imposed lie that TLOU had no sequel. Because not having another game at all would still be better than this. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
