Played the game and found it to be void of any real story. You would think after the long wait for the sequel the developers would put a bit more effort into a game worthy of our money. I guess we are just cash cows in their eyes.

And what the F is with this bullet drop!? I get some people like it, hell even i like bullet drop in games I play ARMA 2 and 3, but in TLOU2 the amount it drops is absolutely ridiculous to the point i never used the scope unless i felt i had to. The worst part about this game is the way Sony and ND responded to the leaks and the people criticizing the game leaks was horrendous and unprofessional, not to mention the way they shove this LGBTQ and feminism "culture" as some people say in your face just ruined RUINED a good series! A message to sony and ND y'all lost a long time supporter, so this will be the last console i ever buy and don't expect another dime from me especially if it's another fake exclusive for ps4/ps5 cause we all know they'll port it to the next console for the buck$. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us creators have always described it as a story-driven game. Its story is, undoubtedly, one of the most relevant aspects of it. It's what differentiated TLOU1 from other Zombie-like survival games of that time and what made it one of the best games of the year it released.
Enter TLOU2. First things first: Amazing graphics, one of the best ones I've ever seen in the PS4. Gameplay-wise it retains most of the mechanics of TLOU1 with some AI improvements: it won't bring much innovation to the table and the developers decided to play it safe, seeing how well they work in TLOU1. The lack of innovation is accentuated by its lack of multiplayer mode, and The game becomes somewhat repetitive towards its end with the QTEs becoming incredibly predictable.
This could all be forgiven, though, if the story made up for it. After all, this is a story-driven game, and its story was one of, if not the best, aspects of its predecessor. But as you may all know already, the story is complete rubbish. Most fans would infer that Joel would die in this series, but his death was nonsensical and out-of-character, and the consequences of it were unsatisfying. The game is linear and doesn't allow choices to be made, and in some parts while playing as Ellie you will be forced to do acts you don't want to do only to have the game scold you for having made them, which doesn't make any sense. Compare it to games like Telltale's The Walking Dead, where you made hard choices and faced the consequences of them, or Spec Ops: The Line, where the game forced you to make bad choices, but you didn't know it at the time you made them.
Inconsistency is also a key part of this story. In the latter part of the game you play as Abby, the woman who killed Joel. Not only does the game NOT scold you for the horrible things you do as Abby, but it tries so hard to make you empathize with her and justify her actions that it even comes off as hypocritical towards Ellie. Given that Joel was a beloved character in the series, this comes off as just pretentious writing, bringing the dread and depression of the game to the point of exaggeration.
The ending is just as bleak, forced, and disappointing as the whole story of the game is. It almost feels that the creators of the game wanted this game to make you feel miserable for playing it; which can be a good thing, but they forced this guilt on you so hard that it just wants you to not touch this game anymore.
Games can get away with shallow and almost nonsensical plots if the rest of its parts make up for it. But TLOU never wanted to be one of these games. They relied heavily on the story, and the story was a complete mess. That's why it earns a 3/10.

Story: Requires alot of focus, open minds, and is down to one's interpertation. Expands on characters. A second playthrough is highly recommended to fully grasp all of it. Soundtrack: Fits the tone of the sequel, whilst being familiar to the player, it also builds tension in the right places. Graphics: Extremely detailed, the team really put alot of effort to make it highly believable and breathtaking. Along with maintaining the sense of an abandoned and harsh world. The brutalility depicted is detailed to a point that you may feel a little queasy from time to time.

Overall: The Last of Us Part 2 is a bittersweet and emotional triumph, where it throws you into a darker, more violent bloodbath than its previous title. It is also a game that will make you question the character's motives and morality at the end of My Score: 92/100

The first 10-15 hours are MARVELOUS, playing Ellie as a badass grown up woman is so exciting. Then the game take you somewhere else by making you playing Abby, the girl that you HATE and want to kill.
BUT after a few hours, you begin to UNDERSTAND and FEEL, why your so called enemies are doing what they doing and that manipulation is, on it's own, AWESOME

First, you don't give a damn about killing dozens of strangers, but after you're lived with them, after fighting with them and had the privilege to know them better, your feelings become confused about them. And that's just the beginning :)

This sequel has all the wonderful ingredients of the first game. The story is violent, but meaningful and the scene is really touching (the interactions between Joel and Ellie are SOOO GOOOD!!).
The gameplay is almost FLAWLESS (maybe better than MGS5).

I really encourage all Last of Us 1 gamers to buy this one and to MAKE THEIR OWN OPINION of the game and especially the story.

I LOVE this game, despite some minor questionable choices (some characters are just here to check boxes.. and maybe some of the flashbacks are not necessary.

At my own surprise, Last of Us part 2 became one of my favorite game of all time (and I play since 25 years on PC and consoles!!). It's a MASTERPIECE and I thank Naughty Dog and the wonderful casting for their AMAZING JOB.

The Ellie part is ok, good graphic, and more of open world.
The Abby part make me unhappy when they let me play as a character i already set my mind to hate her from earlier part and see how cheap they make me to sympathize her just doesnt give me any eager to continue playing as her

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Story:
This game makes you feel a lot. You get all the emotions. Happy, sad, joyful, depressed. Everything's planned. A lot of the reviews were made negative within the first two days of the game’s launch. On day 2 of playing the game, I was at the character switch, as I suppose many others were. And just like the many others, I was mad. This is where many decided to quit the game, and write their hate review. However, I kept playing. At the end of the game, I understood what the developers wanted. I understood AND FELT the ending because I put my bias towards the main characters aside. Once you do that, the story’s flawless. It’s very easy to follow along as long as you stick through with it. For example, a lot of people get confused at the start of the game. However, if you play past the confusing part, the pieces all start to fit together. Gameplay:
It’s simply perfect. They didn’t change much, but what they did change added only more depth from the first and made it a lot more smooth. There’s also a lot more ammo and material to be found around the world, even on the higher difficulties. Why I rated the game a 9 and not a 10:
Simply from lack of content. At the moment we have a new game plus mode, but unlike the original, there’s no character skins or game filters. I was expecting a lot more skins, even branching out to weapon skins. Maybe the devs will add this later, but I’m rating what the game launched with. Overall:
Amazing experience, truly emotional. While the ending did not make me happy, it wasn’t suppose to. The last time I felt this way about a game, was when in MGS3, you find out Big Boss was doing everything for her country, and that no one would know her sacrifice except for you and a few select others. Just because a game doesn’t have sunshine and rainbows at the end, doesn’t make it any less of a terrific game. Side Note (spoilers):
The Last of Us 1 had a sad ending. Joel shoots up an entire hospital and you can tell at the end that there is a tear in the relationship between Joel and Ellie. The Last of Us 2 has a sad ending as well, although this one is more blatant and extreme. So to everyone complaining that the game is too emotional, yet enjoyed the first game, were you just ignoring the ending of the first one, or too oblivious to see it? No one in this game’s universe is a good protagonist. Joel is a flawed hero. We only see his side of the story when he’s with Ellie. They mention countless times of how he had a bad past, from small conversations with Ellie, to arguments with Tommy and Vic, also the scene when they get off the highway and he knows about the ambush. The only difference is that at the end of The Last of Us 2, we have a strong bias towards Joel, which makes us hate the other character. Had the game been flipped around, and we’d follow the other character besides Joel and Ellie, we’d grow to hate them as well.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (Light spoilers) The gameplay, the characters, the graphics, and the visuals of the game were stellar. The first half had me on the edge of my seat story-wise as well, and I was so excited, and then we played 10 hours as Abby. Then, I saw all of the cheap ploys to try and make us like Abby and dislike Ellie. Have Ellie kill dogs and Abby pet them etc, but that doesn’t change the heart of each character. Just because a child calls Abby a good person doesn’t mean she is one. It shifts from a fantastic start to a bunch of cheap shots instead of quality writing. You can’t make an evil hearted villain and a sympathetic one all in one go like that. I saw what they were trying to do and can appreciate it, but it didn’t land properly. The game is better than average but doesn’t live up to it’s predecessor story-wise. It often reads like torture porn (I love angst fic and this exceeds the worst of what I’ve read in this field). I wish it was better, I really wanted it to be. The first half I was absolutely in love and then it just dipped, all the way to the less than stellar ending. I still enjoy the game. Some parts were so fantastic I’ll never forget them, and so I can’t drop the game in its entirety, but nonetheless I was a little disappointed. I do still suggest you play the game through on your own, but it’s not the masterpiece I was led to believe it was. 3/5 or 7/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm very sad to write this review. I ignored the review bombing in hopes that it was just angry fans stirring up trouble as they always do.

I'm going to start with the fact that people think people that are angry are just mad because of the LGBT references... The Last of Us: Left Behind introduced Ellie as gay, and it scored very well. Most people don't care about a character's sexual orientation, as long as the story is good. With that being said, the LGBT part of the story did seem to be "in my face" a lot, and made me want to say, "Yeah I get it, they are in love, cool. Get back to the story.", but I liked both Ellie and Dina.

The action/graphics in the game were very well done, there is no argument towards the technical aspect of this game being done well, that is the only reason why this review has a 1 and no a flat-out 0 though, I have to admit.

After that, this is where the positive/neutral things end. The entire point of the first game was looking for the cure, there has to be a cure. It was a good story developing Joel and Ellie as a "family" and developing their characters.

This story basically "forgot" everything that had happened in the first game, and ignored all of the development of Joel altogether. He was a very cautious person and didn't trust anyone, and in the second game this was thrown out of the window.

Abby kills Joel very early in the game, and it's unknown why, until you find out that the little girl that Joel saved in the first game was Abby, and she kills him because he killed her Dad, the doctor.

There is a point as well where you play as Abby, because it wants you to relate to her character, and I have to be honest, the moment she killed Joel she was no longer an interesting character, she was the antagonist. You're not going to make me relate with a character by trying to show their human side, after they kill the character that you've grown to love throughout the first game. I'm on Joel and Ellie's side, no matter who has to die.
After this, you have this entire drawn out story where Ellie murders everyone in her path to get to Abby for revenge, and then develop the relationship between her and Dina throughout this story, all for nothing.

Ellie kills Abby's friends, Abby kills Jessie, and after all of this... After all of the killing and fighting, at the end of the game, Dina tells Ellie not to leave, and Ellie leaves anyway to go find Abby. You have a long drawn out fight with Abby, and then Ellie lets Abby go.

All of the people that died in the game, was for nothing. All of the development between Ellie and Dina was for nothing. Abby leaves, Ellie loses her guitar playing fingers, Dina leaves, and Ellie is alone. They threw it all away at the end for what? To make you want a third game? I am not confident in Naughty Dog's ability to do anything except make a game that is technically good with scenery and action at this point.

The only thing that this game has done was disappoint me in Naughty Dog's ability to write a compelling story to keep me engaged, and it's very obvious that they struggle at "closing" a story that they were trying to make. If there would have been some type of closure, it would have been a better ending. Instead, they just left it as a cliffhanger, and made the entire game you just fought through felt like it was a hopeless waste of time.

What was the point anyway? Abby kills Joel, You kill everyone to get to Abby, Dina leaves you, and you don't even kill Abby. The ending is: Ellie loses everything, and you don't really have anything resolved other than you know why Abby killed Joel. There is no closure.

As a final note, the reason for the bad review is not BECAUSE Joel died. It's because of the way that the story was told. It was written and done early for shock value, and then they tried to piece together the reasoning afterwards. There are many games where main characters die, and it's done in a way to really make you love the game. This is not one of them. If they would have told Abby's story beforehand and let us grow to like the character, and let us understand her motives, in order to lead up to a climax where she kills Joel and we understand why she did it, then that would have worked much better. But instead, they chose to go for "shock value" points and it hurt the story a lot.

Also, the narrative in this game that 'violence and revenge is bad' is simply outrageously backwards, this is set in a post-apocalyptic America where violence is the only way to survive.

To me Games were always like books you could read and I like some multi-player games but I stuck to games like the Witcher, GoW, Horizons Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, metal gear, ect..
Part 2 is a beautiful game with amazing mechanics and i can absolute respect the contradicts portrayed in this game however the story completely forgot its roots. Its like characters in the game just forgot their past experiences for the sake of shoving a completely irredeemable character in. The story was awful. I dont care that he died but the way that he did. He would have never allowed himself to be in that situation and the ending of the game completely contradicts the ending of the first game and makes zero sense. I wanted this game to be so good but was left disappointed.

But this game doesn't pander to its audience and rather features a complex story that asks difficult questions about love, violence and justice. It's the kind of plot that you would sooner expect to see in a pulizer winning novel rather than a video game.

That's not to say the gaming aspects aren't top-notch though. This is easily one of the prettiest games I've ever played, and it's character models and physics-engine are next level. Combat is incredibly realistic and brutal and this is one of the few games that actually made me question my own role in the violence playing out on screen.

If there are any downsides to the game, it's that the stealth can be a little hit or miss and that the story in the third act isn't quite as strong as the first two. in the end, the positives far, far outweigh the negatives though.

    This game is a must-own.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've never written a review for a game on Metacritic before, but I feel compelled to do so for this game. This game is obviously Naughtydog's magnum opus and I'm a fan of Naughtydog. I think they have made great, great games. TLOU part 1 was among my favorite games ever -- especially the factions MP. Of course, I was excited about this game when it was announced. I had heard of the leaks and eventually was curious to see what all the fuss was about -- because people were making a FUSS. I found a reddit thread that purported to describe what happened in the game. I read it. After reading it, I thought two things. The first was that it seemed too implausible. I hadn't seen any gameplay footage or pictures, I just had this reddit thread to go by. The second thing I thought was that even if the core of the leaks were true, I didn't worry because I knew Naughtydog would make this a great game. I brushed it off. Now here's my review of TLOU Part II. Off the bat, it was great to see Joel. You immediatley notice how beautiful the game is. Bravo. The animation of the horse riding seemed a bit clunky (at least in the beginning) but nothing to fret about. The game takes its time to develop the story, which, for fans of the series, is not a problem. You're glad to see everyone you loved from the first game show up. The new characters were a welcome addition -- but this is where I have to add the caveat that is, at this point, highly unoriginal, perhaps often overhyped, but nonetheless crucial. There is one character that, despite having spent hours playing as her, I did not care about. Let me digress by telling you that I've completed the game in 3 days of owning it. It came out last Friday, and it has been officially a week at which I am now writing this review. So I sat on it. And thought about. And thought about it some more. And my conclusion is that, while Naughtydog definitely tried something highly ambitious and different, the game ultimately collapses under its own weight. I say this hesitantly. The game was fun. The gameplay mechanics combined with beautiful graphics really made for an enjoyable experience. The boss fights were some of the most fun of any game. But I have to be realistic here. Those who purchased this game are majoratively coming directly as fans of the FIRST game. Why? The story. The gameplay is, for the most part, the same. Everyone expected updated graphics. The story is what brought people in droves to this game. So what happened there? Well... I'm not sure. I had seen interviews with the game director and other people working on the game and I can't help but feel like I was mislead, if only by a small bit. The first trailer surely made it seem like Joel was going to be okay. But towards the release, I expected him to die. Again, Naughtydog can't mess this up right? Then comes *that* scene. And..... oh, wow. I was speechless. My girlfriend who was sitting next to me watching me play, who knows almost nothing about the first game other than a brief synopsis I told her, was almost equally horrified. It was an absolutely terrible thing to watch. I told her the amount time you spend as that character in the first game and, although he made a terribly selfish and stupid decision, you grew to love him because of how much he loved Ellie. And that death .... that was worse than anything I saw in Game of Thrones. That's saying quite a lot compared to what they did to Robb Stark and Theon Grayjoy in that series. Joel's death was absolutely horrendous. I couldn't get it out of my mind throughout the entire playthrough and even after it. Given this extreme impact, when the game forced me to play 12 hours as his killer, I was so disengaged with Abby's character that after some time, I just wanted to fly through it to get to the end. Ellie's part in Santa Barbara probably contained the most fun encounters in the entire game, so my engagement was revived at this point. It was challenging and forced me to use Ellie's abilities to the utmost. And then there's the ending, which..... was ok. It was just ok. It wasn't impactful. It didn't hit me with some wise "lesson" that I think the developers were trying to hit me with. It was just.... gray. Bland. Tasteless. Even days after I completed the story, I'm still unsure how to feel about it. So at this point, I don't this taste the ending left in my mouth is going to wash away and I may be looking for something more significant when there isn't one there. The endpoint is that I'm ultimately dissapointed with how it all turned out as a complete product. And there was no MP, which again, was insanely fun in the first game. Oh well. This is as honest a review I could have given. I obviously don't care about the sexuality or gender expression of any of the characters, which I know was a cause for some to negatively review the game. That's a very dumb reason to give a game a bad review. It was how the story felt like it dedin't even have wings to spread. Expand

Also when you get to the switch over. But after seeing Abby's flash back etc I completely see why she did what she did. Looking back at the 1st game you can't deny Joel was not a squeaky clean persin and he does technically doom the world. That had to come with consequences. Watching Ellie throw away her family for revenge when she is spared twice by Abby had me screaming in my head to give up and live her life. It's a story that flips the concept of good and evil. Actions have consequences. Looking forward to the finally in part 3 Expand

A technological masterpiece, with a dramatic and emotional story.

I played the game from start to finish over the course of 5 days on survivor difficulty. It took me 39.5 hours, so it's safe to say it had me hooked. I don't normally review here, because I think the site is terrible, but I feel the need to speak up against the dumb bandwagon happening right now with my own thoughts on the title.

The story is, in my opinion, fantastic. There are hard-hitting moments pretty much from the get-go, that serve to fuel the rest of the story. I had such moments spoiled for me, by a very sour person who seen I was anticipating the game. I knew what was coming, but it did not take away any of the impact of the event.

The key thing is, lots of people seem to think you're expected to like a certain character which (while I did come to like the character) is not necessary. You're expected to understand the character's backstory and motivations, and if you're paying attention you'll even notice some parallels between this character, and another character that we all love.

The story often turns back the clock, looking at events from the first game, and just after the game, expanding on some of the narrative points the first game told. To me, this makes this sequel extremely justified to exist.

Gameplay-wise, the game is thrilling. It's a mix of stealth akin to MGSV, but with its own style on it where even on the hardest difficulty, you can strike enemies, be seen, but dive back into the shadows. It feels like you're constantly playing dirty to get the upper hand in a fight (maybe less so in lower difficulties where ammo isn't as sparse). This is really damn satisfying.

There are 2 things I want to give a particular shout out to.. the gore and the animation quality. The gore is visceral, and I bloody loved it. The detail they go into with the gore makes kills so satisfyingly tactile. You blow people up, and you'll watch chunks of meat stuck on the ceiling slowly drop off for the next few seconds. You headshot someone near a wall, and you'll watch brains slowly slide down the newly painted surface.

The animation is *chefs kiss*. I've never seen it done so well before. The motion matching technology they've used adds so much depth to the characters' shifting of weight while remaining extremely responsive to every action you take. Like genuinely, I feel like other games are slightly ruined now because the animation quality here is so top-notch.

The accessibility options are stunning. They have upwards of 100 features dedicated to the accessibility of the game, which is such an achievement.

And look, this review will be marked as not helpful. It's up to you whether you want to trust the opinion of someone who took the time to write out their thoughts after playing the game for 40 hours, or to trust someone who spammed "garbage" until they met the character limit.

Later in the game, I found that I liked this game character. She is not forgiving. . When Joel rescued Ellie in a generation that killed doctors and so many fireflies, he should have known the consequences. The battle between the two on the beach is a classic in the game series. It is painful for Ellie to release and let go, but she doesn't want to go on like this. After all, Abby spares Ellie twice. If Abby really wants to kill Allie, the game may be over in the theater. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a solid 9/10, one of the best games of all time. I finished the game in 34 hours on hard difficulty and now heading for a platinum trophy.
    SPOILERS AHEAD!
First of all Abigail was created by the traumatic experiences when random guy called Joel murdered her dad and all of the firefly staff. She had her revenge and CLEARLY warned Ellie a couple of times that if they meet again Abby will kill her. On the other hand Ellie is psychologically a very complex human being, she was very much fighting her own demons between a HUGE urge of revenge and the need of relief, a salvation. Ellie was mechanically fullfilling her plan until the very end when she realised that killing Abigail changes nothing, that relief and salvation came when she held Abby under water and could kill her instantly. I think Ellie realised (seeing Joel in her mind) that Joel wouldn't want her to seek revenage and put her own life at stake. She finally made peace with herself and accepted Joel's death. The ending was psychologically reasoned and logical. It was something out of the box. Not that "American happy ending" you all wanted.
In my opinion II part is better, more mature, rough, more complex and more psychological than the firts part.

Graphics, Audiio and Performance: Possibly the best-looking game we've seen so far. Runs at a stable 30fps and has very few glitches and bugs. The SFX is also top-notch.

Gameplay: If you loved the gameplay in the first one, you'll love this. It's very similar, and if you want to play the whole game like how you played TLOU, you probably can. However, combat, traversal, and stealth have a more agile feel to it, thanks to added features such as air kills, squeezing thru tight spaces, dodging, and more. New enemy types and smarter AI ( for allies and enemies) really gives this game a more strategic and nerve-racking feel.

Now, for the big one; the story. Without spoiling anything, the biggest thing I can say is that this game shows and handles Moral Ambiguity better than any other piece of media I have ever seen. The way it shows you both sides of the coin is something I wish more storytellers get into. It throws away the terms "good guys" and "bad guys", and leaves you with "people". People who do what is necessary and right for them. It truly shows what cruel acts in an especially cruel world can do to a person mentally, and how far hate can push someone to the edge of reason. A tragic story that will elicit plenty of emotions and reactions, and one that will be discussed for years to come. Not only does this get my vote for GOTY and the game of the generation, it gets my vote as one of the most brilliant pieces of media that has ever been made.

Extra: The accessibility options are also next level, so plus points for that. My blind cousin was able to play a video game and for the first time, he got as much out of it as I did. These should start a trend for future games.

Disappointment, that is what generated the end of the game, for me the bases of a good game are: the music, the gameplay and the history, this game is outstanding in the first two points, but the history is not what you you wait (in the bad sense of the word). I don't think I can replay The Last of Us: Part 2 if I have to be frowning during the 25 hours it lasts.

I dont know why people are raging against the game. The game is perfect! The story isnt bad has most kids say, gameplay is very good. Honestly, the bad reviews are just to bring the game down after a long wait to play it.

Sooo, I liked the graphic and the level Design so much! Also the gameplay was also mir Bad. But I don’t like actually the Story, for me, it makes No Sense if u compare the characters with the First Game. So there are Many negative Arguments in other Reviews but there are also Many positive. But in my opinion it Is Necessaire for a story Game to have a Good Story.

I've been waiting for the last of us 2 two years and finally got this horrible story.
They ruined characters I fell in love with in the first game. Poor Ellie, what did they do to you...
The most disappointing game ever in my life.

You people saying its a bad game are 1 of 2 things:
1: havent played the full game and dont get the history and the message behind it all.
2: felt angry because of the diversity of the game, which was natural and not at all forced. The game has a complex story that goes full circle, it represents hate and how far you can go to accomplish it, how blind revenge is and how the cicle of hate

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    Cons:
    Story (or lack of it)!!!
    Far too politically motivated!!!
    Obscene number of plot holes!!!

Firstly I'd like to say I don't buy/play games to be given a political lecture, I play them to be entertained. I was not entertained but was lectured a lot! Unacceptable, leave politics out of games! And I say that as an ethnic minority as well!! Now the storyline was very rushed in parts and made no sense in other parts. In the first game Joel was very suspicious of strangers and wouldn't be so easy to trust them with anything, yet he's completely ok with Abby and her group who have randomly shown up. Completely goes against his character and is a very lazy way of killing him. I don't mind Naughty Dog killing off Joel as Abby has a very valid reason for wanting her revenge, but don't do it to the detriment of his character and what he believes and stands for. Now as for Abby, I understand her reasons for revenge but Naughty Dog did not do her story justice at all. If you want me to empathise with her, then you need more than a 30 minute flashback and need to spend more time developing her relationship with her father. This could have been done and the entire Trans-Lev story could have been dropped completely. Abby's relationship with her father served a purpose to the story. Lev being a Trans did not!!!!! Secondly Abby is unrealistically muscular!! Most women body builders have that kind of build with an immaculate diet and training in the real world. I refuse to believe anyone in TLOU universe can have a diet to support a body such as that. Now while we are on the subject of unrealism, can someone explain to me why they are growing weed in the middle of an apocalypse? I mean resources are so scarce that I highly doubt that weed can be on the list of priorities. And even if they can grow it, who gets high when they know that they could get stormed by a plague of infected or rival clans? Utter stupidity!!! Now the whole story was set up to be a revenge plot. Ellie fails in her first instance in Seattle and is spared by Abby for a SECOND time!! Is Abby actually stupid?! Ellie clearly despises her and wants her dead, and instead decides to spare her again and risk her coming for her again (which she does)!! And how does Tommy survive a blatant headshot from point blank range? Now Ellie suffers from PTSD from the whole incident and goes for revenge a second time in California. She eventually goes through hell to find Abby again and has a fight with her. Then miraculously at the last instance she lets her live!!!! So she went across the country in the middle of an apocalypse TWICE, lost 2 fingers, many friends, a relationship with her girlfriend and stepson, just to let the person responsible for her suffering go free? I mean seriously?? It's 2020, how have Naughty Dog not even given us the option of 2 alternative endings where you can kill her or decide not to kill her!! Completely stupid!!! I am so insulted that this game was produced that I will not buy another Naughty Dog game or Sony game/console until serious changes are made. Stop shoving politics down our throats at every given moment, we want entertainment not political agendas!!! You're probably thinking if the gameplay was good along with graphics etc. Why have I scored the game a 0/10. It's simple, don't be political in games!!! Any game that's political is an instant 0/10 in my opinion because it's not what I pay you to produce!!! Quite the opposite really, I pay you to help me forget about the politics of the world!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a game I wish I could show people. The barrier for people experiencing art like this is too high for people like my father, who doesn’t play video games. For my friends on different platforms who don’t have analytical talks about symbolism in media. For my girlfriend who is too turned off by the third axis in game controllers. This is just something I had to talk about. Something I had to speak my words for. This game is art. As someone who loved the first game and still loves the first game, this game exceeded expectations highly. Every gameplay system, mechanic, story arch and character is amazing and flushed out fully. Never once did the game fail in trying to make me feel a certain emotion. It made me make hard choices. It questioned the very purpose of the way to play games, and how sometimes as the saying goes “the only way to win, is not play”. Never has a game before this exemplified and embodied what that means, to this extent. It took characters I loved, and made them real. There is no good, no bad, just gray. Every expectation I had going into this game was somehow flipped on its side. What a lovely, gruesome, dark, and scary game. The symbolism alone is heartbreaking. At the forefront of the story there’s a duality between characters and their intertwined journeys that I think is unmatched in revenge tails. The debate over what this game is trying to say will last for years, and I just wish I could take part of it more. I could go on. But I think it’s just best to experience for yourself. Follow the light. Expand

The story was well written, but most people are posting bad reviews by not playing it themselves and listening to other people's opinions. Many people dont like the story because they probably played this game after watching a disney movie and expect a happy ending but there are no heroes in this game. Am glad Naughty Dog made this game realistic and not some fairy tale. Neil Druckman also said to keep an open mind while playing. Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
